What I'm getting out of all of this is that people expect me to get multiple games in a row, either indoor or on high wall maps, against Wraiths, Pigs, and Ghostfaces, and not get frustrated to the point that I just want to voice MY OPINION to people who also play the game. Sorry that I don't have a "Rant" section in Discussions to post in. But I'm sure if I was complaining about Spiritpre-nerf, or Blight, or any other of the top tier killer ######### survivors tend to complain about, we'd all be singing songs and holding hands.

I think stealth killers are technically a baby mode check, but not for the killer player... If you need early warnings, you should work to improve your survivor gameplay a touch... And a half.
Stealth killers are baby mode, not baby mode check. They get to close distance with stealth on top of things like be almost completely invisible, insta down, huge lunge range w/ a speed buff. It's not about "..nEeDiNg EaRlY wArNiNgS.." It's about that they get powers on stop of being able to go undetected almost will. And with as many maps with high walls, or that are indoors, as there are you don't get a lot of time to react before they're sniff your deodorant.

I think everyone's just confused at complaining stealth killers are stealthy.
Like, that's the point. They can get close without trumpeting "I AM HERE TO HURT YOU, HELLO LITTLE SURVIVORS".
But here's the thing.
1: I very clearly state in the beginning that it's my personal feelings. If you don't agree cool. But obviously I'm just venting my frustrations to people who understand the game and could, hopefully, at least understand my feelings. Again even if they don't disagree.
2: As a killer main, the amount of times I see survivor mains posting their own complaints is exhausting. I figured this was my opportunity to express my feelings, hence the disclaimer but a post can never go without someone pushing their glasses up so the light catches and obscures their eyes while saying "WeLl AcTuAlLy...." It's why I put the freaking disclaimer.

This thread is baby mode lmao
This thread is a killer main, that doesn't play stealth killers, airing their issues with a particular type of killer. It's all opinion based anyway.
Besides figured since most of the time survivors do nothing but winge and complain about killers anyway I'd say my peace.

You are insulting my intelligence by not even knowing that tinkerer gives you undetectable.
No need to be rude especially when you don't even know how the perk works.
Well I'm sorry I don't know every text on every perk. I though I was very respectful given that fact. Now allow me to insult you're intelligence by saying you're completely ignoring the fact that Tinkerer is a perk and must be used with complimenting perks to do much more than info and a condition buff. Stealth killers are stealth AS A POWER. They do it basically at will, regardless of a gens progression level. So Tinkerer is fine because it has conditions aside from *Just press a button.*

You hate when killer sneaks up to you. That is what I got from your posts and I mentioned tinkerer.
Why are you sneaking up to people for "free" hits then as well?
You are not full fledged stealth killer maybe but you are using stealth as well.
Just a food for thought.
I'm not gonna be one other who insults someone's intelligence but tinkerer doesn't let you sneak up on anyone. It lets you know when a gen is almost done. If I head towards it, as say Doc, I can't "sneak up" on people if I tried. I have a terror radius that doesn't just go away with stealth killers. It's a warning to survivors that "Yeah, I'm coming."
So tinkerer is not a bad perk. And survivors hiding? It's about the best thing they can do to avoid chases if that's what they want to do. So it's not food for thought if the food is inherently plastic, just like Tinkerer isn't free hits, it's info. I don't have a problem with info, I have an issue with stealth killers.

They aren't. I just find stealth killers incredibly frustrating
-
@Shaped said:
Do you hate tinkerer as well? Since it is pretty common.
Tinkerer is a fine perk. Use it on a few builds myself. This post is about stealth killers. Not that they're overpowered but that they're frustrating. And that's my opinion. It's why the warning is in there at the top. It's all my feelings that I just wanted to get out to people that at least know what I'm talking about regardless if they agree. I'm not gonna complain to my non gaming fiance about stuff she doesn't understand or care about.

What do you mean they don't have to worry about being spotted? The whole counter to their abilities is being spotted, especially Ghostface. If you can spot them before they can use their power all you have to do is break line of sight with them. Not to mention, practically all of the stealth killers are pretty weak.
This kind of reply is why I put the not paying attention part. Doesn't matter how strong they are, they can almost always get closer than any other killer which is an advantage that while not over powered is infinitely more frustrating than any other killers power beside maybe one or two others
-
As a Killer main, Doc's office hours pending, I never "Expect" a 4k. I do my damnedest to slaughter all four survivors but it doesn't happen as often as you think. I think the biggest thing I'm seeing in your post is that you don't quite get the fact that the game is 4v1.
High skill survivors and/or a well organized team will run circles around a killer. It's about knowing how to play against each killer as while, the basics are the same, the little nuances are where people get hung up.
Yeah killers try for nerfs but so do Survivor mains. Hell you technically do in the post. At the end of the day killers have all the statistical advantages they have because numbers on paper paint a picture of 1 killer with a stat block against 4 individual survivor stat blocks. In reality it's 1 killer stat block against 1 giant survivor stat block.
So idk, just stuff to think about.

It's easy to form a bias, especially if you favor one side over the other.
I'm survivor main, mostly solo and, my friends aren't good so... swf is not much advantage, lol!
I think a part of the problem is the Survivor gameplay is split between skilled swf and random solos who cant communicate. This leaves a wide gap between giving the killer an actual challange or, a skilled killer rolling through solo's.
Also the developers slow response to OP builds and "meta" gaming. OP builds, perks, ect, dominate much of the game. They are often the most unfun things to play against and, feel oppressive to both sides.
They are concerned with constant visual updates, cosmetics and, new content. I understand those pay the bills but, the underlying problems often go overlooked for far too long.
This is also really good perspective. I'm a killer main with some but Survivor experience but the discrepancy in the hours on one side versus the other is quite large.
You bring up good points about survive with friends and communication. I've faced survived with friends that are terrible and others that were great. Same with solos, I've faced some that have completely steam rolled me and some that have fallen like dominoes.
In terms of Park builds I can't say that I've ever felt a huge difference between an optimized perk build versus a non-optimized perk build but the highest rank that I usually touch is rank four and that tends to be right towards the end of the month as I'm not a super dedicated player.
Very well said and thank you for the input.

People come to forums to complain, mostly. So on average you get irrational arguments based in emotional response. The asymmetrical nature of the game only fuels the fire. My advice? Learn to recognize when a poster is being irrational and move on. Don't waste your time arguing or worrying about their opinions - you need to pick your battles, and you will never win using logic vs. emotion, at least not in their minds.
Fair point. I just like the thought that some people can have a conversation without arguing that what they say, think, feel, or experience is the end all be all for everyone.

Its also hard to be gracious in defeat because people judge you by the killer your are playing now I wont lie I do the same but only to freddy players because his snares allow you to loop wrong but stil get a hit but anyway this is the best example I can remember I'm playing ghost face I get red forest it's a 4 man swf I can tell by the fact that they all trash talked even though it was a very close game and I got 1 kill and there was a ooo as well with 3 adrenaline and the holy ds saves the day
I can understand it being hard to be gracious in defeat. I'd be lying if I said that whenever I have a game where I got close but struggled for one kill or didn't get any kills or what have you that I didn't get salty and talk crap about the enemy team. Although I play mostly on Xbox so I don't have a chance to message everyone in game chat like PC players do so it's mostly rambling to myself.

@Clevite said:
Sorry but NONE of the examples you gave are toxic.
Are they sportsman like. Probably not. Are they all fun to face. No. Are they toxic? Absolutely not.
Really the only toxic thing in the game, is being ignorant in post game chat.
Maybe the tbag at the exit gates, but if someone spikes a football after a touchdown, is that not similar? Is a spike toxic?
Toxic and entitled are overused terms with no meaning left in this game.
Can I just point out that the only things you by name called not toxic are the things survivors do.... It's not about what you may or may not consider toxic, it's about why the people who call one thing toxic, but defend another toxic thing, are so vocal versus most people who just roll with the punches.
-
@savevatznick said:
People like to be terrible and justify it after the fact. Then when you challenge them, they get indignant about being called a liar and then further entrench themselves. That's toxicity for you.
The "Favoritism" complaints stem from the fact that this game was not balanced to begin with, but the players did not discover how to use that imbalance for a while. So as people get better and better at the game, the cracks become more and more unclear as people leveraging that imbalance becomes more widespread. BHVR patches things at the speed of soon(tm), and so when they finally fix one aspect on one side and don't to another, people view it as unfair. There's a skill re-adjustment period many people don't like going through, where they cannot rely on what they had before. That is what upsets them.
That and a lot of BHVR changes really don't seem to be well considered.
I like how you drew attention to the period of adjustment. As human beings I think we can all agree that change is scary so when we're forced to change, it definitely can sour a previously enjoyable experience.
A well-worded statement on people pushing against something they're naturally averse to but something that they have to deal with as it's unavoidable. And to be honest I think it's sort of idiotic to assume that the developers are going to try and fix all the issues every side has all at once it's just not possible. So when they do finally fix stuff everyone is obviously not going to be happy.
Well said.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/227774/i-want-an-objective-conversation-please
People are biased and unable to look at things objectively, and hence the perpetual whining and moaning. There are only three things a Player has to do to be a good sport:
- Don't cheat, either by hack or lag spike.
- Don't disconnect; if you start a game, finish it.
- Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
That's it. Those are the ONLY standards that should be applied to our fellow Players. All the other garbage is self-serving nonsense. The problem with a Forum like this is it is NOT the community. All the people on this Forum are but a drop in the bucket against the actual numbers of people who play. Most of them will never post here or even come read anything here. Places like this attract people who want to complain because they know they have a captive audience, or at least assume a sympathetic one. That is why there are so many HERE when you really don't run into near the same statistical number in the games themselves.
I agree with pretty much everything you said. The only thing I have a problem with is how you said people can't be objective. Because, ironically, your comment proves you are an objective person or at least in this instance. So all in all well said.

As a Doc main I kinda laugh at players who try to hide a lot. Between Distressing and "Calm - Carter's Notes," stealth doesn't exist when I have a Static Blast ready.
-
Sorry for the text wall.
-
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF THE ENTITY REWORK DOC'S MORI!!!!
I'm sorry but Doc's mori, while on theme, is so unimpressive compared to almost every other killer after him. He rubs his hands together and then shocks someone's brain. Not super scary, or much gore.
I want him to do something like in his lore where he exposes people's brains and shocks them into doing something. Mind control through electro shock therapy. Something flashy and.... Shocking.
-
As a Doc main for me it's just who I have the most time with and he's easy blood points so I use him to grind with BBQ and pump them into other killers when I don't feel like slugging through the first 20-30 levels of a particular killer. Been branching out but The Shock'ter is a guilty pleasure.

They are probably not doing it on purpose. Sometimes you don't realize when you're running you run into another survivor. Its especially hard if you don't have bond or other perks to indicate your teammate is there. Don't take it personally.
Yeah but I run Bond specifically so I this info is available. I'm a firm believer that information is king in most games so when people run at me anyway, and as I said in my previous reply, don't even use the loop I'm near. Just straight up run by right by me. It makes me really hate survivor even more. Which I hate saying because I can admit that as a killer main Survivor can be a lot of fun sometimes
-
@Terro said:
Sometimes it's an accident, sometimes they didn't know, other times they made the decision that the loop here was the only way regardless if some1 is there and worse case they got really tired of being chased.
I'd agree more but the people today just seem to make it a point to just run past me, not even going for pallets or windows. Just straight up running past me.
-
It seems you need to talk to a therapist. Doctor Carter can do a personal house call to your place of employment. The Gideon Meat Plant you say? Oh he takes calls there all there time. I think after just a few minutes you'll be "shocked" to realize how effective The Doctor can be.

I dont know about that 2bh and it depends a lot which loop we are talking about. I experienced on both sides that with this addon (especially combined with a range), you can deny pretty much every loop with 1 or max 2 shocks, even denying pre droping which is actually in many cases a deathwish vs doctor. Maybe it is really the combo with range that makes this so insanly strong.
That's most likely why it seems so broken, cuz with range he can block a pallet, close distance and get the lunge hit off without much trouble. Maybe a small tweak then. Make it so to use Discipline - Carter's Notes you can't increase your Shock Therapy range. Makes it so you don't have to nerf a useful add-on but also can't abuse it.

Nor vice versa by that logic. People need to treat others playing the game like people. There is a responsibility to have sportsmanship and not be a total dick.
But can I say that this is still a game, a competition if you will, and there has to be a winner. Now in DBD the definition of "winner" means whatever it means to a particular party, be that survivors or killer. I'd say most killers though see anything less than a 3k as a lose. You don't have to be a dick to want to achieve your win but that doesn't mean others won't see you that way because your win is different than their win

@Penfighter said:
What a broad topic you are opening up here.
Dead By Daylight survivor play is seen as different things by different people. When you don't play Killer the way they expect you to, you'll receive negative feedback after the match. Generally, it's a bad notion to spoil the fun (Iridescent Heads on Huntress for example, or face camping) and try to give them a fun time. Other than that, who knows, man? I've literally had someone complain about me downing them with Bubba's chainsaw. "That weapon is cheating, using it makes you trash" kinda thing.
As far as tunneling goes, I feel the term is used too lightly. For example, if you are injured and are running away from me with another survivor who is fully healthy, then I'm gonna hit you, the injured person. It's just a better strategy than hitting the healthy guy who is gonna now have a speed boost and start looping me. That is not tunneling. Tunneling would be me getting you, hooking you, and then either camping you so you die or then chasing you down to the exclusion of all else for the sake of a mori or another hook.
But they'll complain about it no matter what you do. If you don't go and hook everyone at least once before hooking them again, they'll call it tunneling. Sigh.
I'm not gonna lie, it is definitely a more logical strategy to hit an injured survivor over a healthy one. But for me it comes down to who is closer to me if/when I find a group of survivors. I'd be lying if I said I haven't taken the easier down but I rarely race back to a hook to try and rehook someone. So I think most of my messages pertain to people being mad that they lost. But it can't be helped so. It's whatever

It is true that the addon is rare, but that does not change the fact that it is too good. They all should be nerfed a bit. My suggestion would be to 0,05, 0,1 and 0,15 seconds. This sounds silly, because we are talking about 0,1-0,3 seconds but the impact is huge.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1184482#Comment_1184482
hum, i like that term and it fits perfectly.
But as a counter point, a good doctor might only need to shock you once to get the hit off. So a delay doesn't mean you'll see the change you're looking for. Just that you won't get shocked EVERYTIME you go to do something, just when it counts.

@xEa said:
Hello guys
I think Doctor is in a good state right now, pretty strong killer but not unfair.. still one thing really needs to be changed:
"Discipline" Carter Notes
- Considerably decreases the Shock Detonation Delay of Shock Therapy.
This addon is simply broken because it completly denies looping or actually even predroping a pallet. If you are not at a god pallet it is a free hit/kill, just because of this addon alone.
I have to try out "Discipline" Class 3 more often tho so i can judge for this one too, but again, Discipline Carters Notes really needs some changes.
Kind regards
As a Doc main I have to say that yes it is very strong but I rarely get the damn thing. I think the thing about Doc is that you kinda have to choose how you want to use his power when choosing your add-ons. I personally don't use Discipline that much. I use Calm and Restraint to help find survivors and to trick them into illusionary pallets during the chase for an easy hit. I don't think anything should be nerfed at all, just try using different combos of his add-ons and find one you enjoy more

How can you stay at rank 13 with constant 3K or 4K when you don’t camp or tunnel?
I play doctor myself and around rank 12, I get pips left and right even with 1 or 2K (I only play Killer rarely and then comes rank reset so I don’t get really high). And apparently I am super lucky because I have never been accused from survivors of unfair/toxic behavior or anything.
But then I play survivor and the insults are coming, mostly from killers... and I never teabag/flashlight click or anything
I'm very casual, I play like once or twice a week. Maybe 3 games max. I got to rank 13 on Wednesday, haven't touched it since. And that's been maybe my third or fourth time playing since rank reset

I’m a Rank 1 killer and survivor. I probably haven’t played against . If you’re not on PS4.
just because you are 3k or 4k it’s how you got your 3k/4k
If lots survivors are calling a tunneler constantly maybe you just don’t know it.
A Tunneler is going after the survivor who literally just got unhooked off hook and ignoring others who are literally in front of you.
If this is your playstyle here’s why. This is definitely not effective nor cool. It’s really frown on, but no one can stop you. if it’s your play style you do you, but you will continue to get hate messages.
Don’t get me wrong though there are survivors who will literally complain about nothing and be completely delusional and send hate just because they are egotistically boosted and feel entitled to win. I do experience this.
I’m not a fan of tunneling nor camping it’s not fun, but occasionally I get those survivors. I’ll play a game so fair and still win and the survivor with random scream tunneler or camper when it never happened.
I'm rarely around my hooks when they get unhooked so if I find the guy that was previously on the hook it's almost always a coincidence. And I hit whoever is right in front of me if I find more than one, usually not paying attention to who I hit exactly, just whackin' and shockin' whoever I can
-
@NoShinyPony said:
There are some people who will always message you, just the content of the message depends on how the game turned out. If you won, it's "you won only because you tunneled, camped, used a certain perk/offering/whatever, random insult". If you lost, it's "ez noob git gud learn to play hahahaha lmao".
And if people tell you to not tunnel because you should take the survivors' fun into account: Forget that stuff. The killer is not the survivors' fun provider and I don't see any survivors playing soft because they want to keep the killer's fun in mind.
I'm not so much bothered by it as much as I am just tired of getting the messages. And I play fair but I like to win, so this thing where the killer let's the last survivor get the hatch, yeah nah. I'm gonna get the 4k if I can and if they get the hatch then best believe they worked for it.

Honestly imo doctor is one of the least fun killers to play against. I can't really articulate why, although part of it is that I face them so often. but anyways perhaps other people feel the same way.
I chose The Doc before his rework cuz his difficulty said "Hard" and my stubborn self thought "Can't be that difficult, can it?" So I picked him up and never set him down cuz I had a shockingly good time lol

Depends on who you ask.
Killer mains will say no, survivors are salty and entitled.
Survivor mains (that's me) will assume if you are constantly 3 and 4king that you are playing like a sweat with little consideration for someone else's match experience.
Since you provided no feedback on your actual play style could be anything or nothing. Who knows.
Since you asked I'll tell you my basic strategy.
Step 1: Find a gen that has been worked on a little. Overcharge and Static Blast to find near by survivor(s)
Step 2: Chase first survivor seen. Get a hit off, maybe a down if they sweat a loop really hard but rarely.
Step 3: Repeat steps 1&2 several times, getting hooks when and where I can.
Eventually people start dying on hook. Not tunneling and I never camp a hook but still getting accused when I find hurt survivors cuz of the madness effect Doc inflicts.
