And that problem not only exists on the survivor side.
Why do I need to own a good headset to be able to.play spirit good?
I can't wear headphones for an extended time be it in ear or over ear and I lose a bunch of important info.wile hunting
Yeah, exactly! Survivors and killers are both at a disadvantage without audio.
-
They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
Detective's Hunch will show the majority, if not all of the totems on the map. Not only this, but it will give you information on other nearby interactables as well. You get no bonus to cleansing speed though, and you may not be in a place to look around and survey your surroundings for totems when it activates.
Counterforce on the other hand will give you a bonus to cleansing speed, and gives you a little bit of information too. Not only that, but if you're cleansing a totem then you'll be ready to look around and see where the next one is, assuming you want to spend the time to go to the guaranteed location of a totem instead of looking for one on your own.

Yeah, no idea why people put Doctor up there. Everybody loves to treat his Static Blast like its the main part of his kit and that it makes him low skill because he doesn't have to put effort into finding people when:
A. You still have to actually go find those people. They can run and/or hide in the time it takes for you to find them.
B. You then have to chase them as well.
C. Being in a locker at the time of the blast completely negates it.
This isn't even mentioning the fact that there are tracking perks that I can think of that work just as well for finding people if not better than his Static Blast, that nobody seems to care about. You never see people saying using Lethal Pursuer is a braindead perk, at least I don't.

encouraging slugging
bruh moment
I'm not encouraging it, I'm pointing out a glaring flaw in your proposed edit that you clearly didn't take the time to think about. People would absolutely wait out the timer, keeping you on the ground and pressuring other people in the meantime rather than take a 10 second stun and then have nobody to hook.
-
@SilentSpectre said:
And this is coming from a killer main. Killers that choose to tunnel should be punished, not just mildly inconvenienced.
Other suggestion: using decisive should heal the stunner to healthy, instead of staying injured.
Okay. They can just wait out the timer.

lol

This is usually pretty fun for me.
Though I have been trying out different add-ons as of late which have proven fun as well.
-
I definitely think the horror isn't all gone. I mean, The Doctor is still there, isn't he? Look him right in the pried open eyes and tell me the horror is gone.
-
Freddy = Frederick
Leatherface = Bubba (obviously)
Myers = Michael Myers (with the ch pronounced as ch, not ck)
Blight: The Dwight

Leatherface, Spirit and Doctor.
Leatherface's only counter is windows which on some maps like some Coldwind maps are super rare
Spirit has 0 counterplay besides throwing pallets at a 50/50.
Doctor has to hold a button to find everyone around him.
Sure, Doctor's got an easy way to find you but the real skill is in his shocks, a tool not often utilized to its full potential because it takes a fair bit of practice to master.
-
Doctor, for sure. I've bounced between killers all throughout my time playing DbD but Doctor is definitely my true main. Dwight too, but I play more killer than I do survivor.
-
KILLER: The Doctor. The Doctor has been my main for as long as I can remember, though I can't exactly place why. He looks cool, his cosmetics are exceptional, his lore is interesting, and his power is fun to use. Seeing people flounder when I deny them a window or pallet is one of the best feelings in the world.
SURVIVOR: Dwight Fairfield. Like The Doctor, Dwight has been my main since I started playing. I wasn't particularly drawn to anyone else, and I'm a sucker for characters who are painfully pathetic, so I went with him.
-
I really like this! The mental image of seeing Charlotte sleepwalk by the gen I'm doing and hoping that she doesn't wake up is a very cool one.
-
You might want to add the fact that Hatch has collision even when invisible, meaning it's possible to find it at the start of the match with everyone alive and 5 gens yet to be done. Premonition also sometimes alerts you that you're looking at the killer when the killer is in fact behind you, and Mettle of Man is broken entirely, protection hits won't activate it.
-
Making good plays as Doctor always feels really good. I'll always remember the game on Midwich where I denied a hook save through the wall with shock therapy and managed to end the game early because of it.

@lagosta said:
Restraint. These add-ons provide invaluable information in and out of the chase and survivors need to snap out of it, so you have an on-demand tool to counter mind games. People really underestimate their power.
^^^ Totally forgot about Restraint. It's a VERY powerful tracking tool and has some viability in chase too as stated above.
-
All of his addons are good for different things. If you like using your static blast often and effectively, go with Calm and Order. If you want to maximize his ability to deny survivors vaults and pallets, go with any Electrode and Discipline. If you want a mix then I recommend Order and an Electrode. Even the Moldy Electrode, his lowest tier range add-on, increases his range a lot, making longer distance denial more viable. Personally I like to run an Electrode and Discipline along with Zanshin Tactics so I always know ahead of time exactly where and when I need to shock to deny survivors their options, even on indoor maps that are usually hellish for Doctor like Lery's.
-
I definitely agree with Doctor being in A tier. His add-ons are (almost) universally good both in terms of mechanical alterations and madness afflictions, but normally not game alteringly strong. Even his iridescent add-ons I would argue don't swing the game too hard in his favor, yet they are definitely very good. He's even been blessed with a training add-on, a boon for new Doctor players looking to get the range of his shock down and somewhat of a rare sight among killers these days, much to my chagrin.

This is the real tier list nobody wants you to know about.
This is so true. FINALLY, somebody giving Doctor the credit he deserves.
-
I think I see Tricksters the most, along with Huntress, Pig, Blight, Pyramid Head.
It's almost an undeniable fact that the Twins are universally rare I've seen 3.5 since they came out. I don't see Doctors very often either, much to my chagrin. :(
-
I agree, and I can say for certain that they give a considerable edge. Every other game it seems I'm noticing my headset helping me immensely in determining where people are behind cover or in hiding. The amount of times I've known that someone was around by the subtle sound of grass or known that they were doubling back because of the sound of their moans of pain is too high to count.
-
Doesn't Charlotte lose her ability to body-block after 30 seconds? They could just run up and take it couldn't they?
-
I've been playing since 2017 and I have (almost) all of them, not including the survivor perks that just got released with the Resident Evil chapter. I like to run gimmicky builds which means having a wide range of niche perks. I think I'm missing the odd perk on one or two survivors, but only because they're bad and/or I have better alternatives.
-
lol
-
Remember, NEVER help your teammates. If you see somebody on a hook do NOT try to save them, lest you get labelled as a LOW RANK SURVIVOR.
-
I actually really like this, in particular the concept of using his gas as traps being used to block objectives, not unlike Plague's vomit. It adds counterplay like that of Trapper's, where you can disarm a trap but you alert The Trapper when you do. This isn't even mentioning that it's satisfying from a lore perspective.
I think the oblivious effect in particular is a nice touch not only because I think it fits with his past of using dental anesthetic, something sure to leave you out of it enough to not register terror radii, but also because I think I would enjoy the thrill of having to keep on high alert after something like that, and it adds opportunity for skillful choices for the killer too. If the Clown is in a chase and they hear somebody scream in the distance do they commit to the chase or do they go after the person they know is vulnerable?
Overall I think these are good concepts.
-
No, thanks. I'd rather die early running the perks I want to run than die later running perks I don't.
-
Oh man, I know this one killer that you're going to HATE.
-
Doctor is fun to play against.
-
This is good in theory and adds an interesting level of play (such as using the fact that the killer can hear you to your advantage by giving them misinfo for example), but I think it overlooks the fact that
A. Many people don't own working microphones that they could communicate with
B. Many people just don't want to use their microphone to talk to strangers in a video game (I fall into this category)
C. This kind of system could very, VERY easily be abused to trash talk your teammates and the killer mid-match, which I don't think anybody wants
While I think it's an interesting concept, I think I'd prefer a generic ping system. Something with a host of prewritten messages that plainly state this or that. "I'm doing a gen," "I'm going to go unhook," etc.
-
Interesting. I failed to consider how BBQ can be dodged. Thrilling it is!

I love Doc but the problem I have with him is how his shock interacts with vaults, it doesn't seem to work this way with pallets, but if a survivor is lagging/desynced on their screen. On their screen they will be slightly ahead and will be able to start a vault whereas on the killers screen they had already been shocked before the vault animation is even close to starting. So, in a way, Doc is punished for laggy survivors.
And it happens when the Doc is at 20MS or so, so its not on the killers end. Having a bad connection is actually a positive when playing against Doc.
This. The fact that you have to shock so far in advance just to deny vaults due to latency or whatever is annoying.
-
I mean, MMR did just get reenabled? I imagine that everybody probably has the same MMR right now and are being matched up accordingly, hence the huge skew in experience.
-
I never knew that Restraint couldn't stack with itself. Odd.
-
Was referred to this post on my own post. I think this is great! I didn't even think about gen tapping when I made my post, but you're right. It's unfair that a killer can devote multiple seconds to an action that can't be done mid-chase and then have that action undone by a different action that takes not even a second and can be done mid-chase, completely eliminating the point of doing that action in the first place.

For me he is one of less scary killers in game. Maybe because "things at random" are not scary, just annoying. Anyone can tell you that.
And i dont think it just me, Doctor have most DC games of any killers. Play him for a while, you will see for yourself.
About "badly designed" thing. In this game you can run or hide and player cannot do any of this while playing against him. Hiding against him dont work, and that would be fine alone, but also running away will not work, because he will make any loop useless. There should be one thing or another, not both.
But i was mostly referring to overloading my screen with noise, flashes and other effects he can apply. Its just too much, waaaaaaay toooo much. Its not scary, not cool, not crazy, just annoying.
He is badly designed even if you compare him to other killers - wounds from AllKill knives will heal after a while, you can cure yourself from poison or dream at anytime, but madness from doctor will stay whole game no matter what you do.
And i dont think it just me, Doctor have most DC games of any killers. Play him for a while, you will see for yourself.
I play Doctor almost exclusively and the vast majority of my games go without a DC. I'd say 9.5/10 of my games finish without a single person having killed themselves on hook or disconnected.

Many killers embody various aspects of horror. The Doctor is made to embody the horror of being powerless. Not being able to run or hide is kind of essential to being powerless. That being said, there is counterplay to Doctor. You can hide in lockers to nullify his Static Blast, or stay out of his terror radius entirely. His shocks can be avoided to some degree, the timings are not easy to master, meaning if you queue up for an action before you've been shocked you'll perform the action anyway.
But i was mostly referring to overloading my screen with noise, flashes and other effects he can apply. Its just too much, waaaaaaay toooo much. Its not scary, not cool, not crazy, just annoying.
He does have a lot of visual effects. Those only play in specific circumstances though, not all the time. They play when you get shocked by any means, when you walk through a fake pallet, and when an illusionary Doctor appears or disappears. That's it. It's also worth mentioning that they toned down his visual effects recently due to complaints like this, which is honestly for the best for a whole host of reasons.
He is badly designed even if you compare him to other killers - wounds from AllKill knives will heal after a while, you can cure yourself from poison or dream at anytime, but madness from doctor will stay whole game no matter what you do.
Yes, Madness doesn't decay passively like it used to. This was most likely done to aid in the simplification of the Madness system. And yes, you cannot rid yourself of the Madness affliction. That would weaken him considerably seeing as all of his addons and many parts of his base kit function at least partially off of Madness. That being said, you can reduce your Madness level from tier 3 to tier 1 by snapping out of it. Not only that, but while you're in tier 1 you basically don't have madness. All but one of his addons rely on you being in tier 2 or higher, and madness skill checks only have a 1 in 3 chance of triggering in madness one. Madness is very much a mechanic of prevention, not cure.
-
Doctor. His teachables are meh and he's not top tier, but he looks cool and I think there should be more Doctor players.

> Sluzzy discussion
-
Spirit mainly. Surprise surprise, I like being able to play against the person I'm playing against. Just guessing and hoping for the best doesn't feel good. The fact that I'm basically always running gimmicky builds that don't include Iron Will doesn't help.
-
Hey, do you know WHY Scott says that solo players should be buffed? Do you know what his end goal is with that? Because you're talking like he said that they should be buffed for no reason.
-
I don't think that the fix for Pig should be making her traps more lethal. To my knowledge they're not supposed to be overly lethal, just lethal enough to get you to get your hands off of gens and into jigsaw boxes. The real power in her traps is the slowdown she gets from forcing people off gens with the threat of death if they don't search boxes.
-
You might want to try looking around with your eyes. That usually works pretty well for me. Moving my mouse around does wonders for helping me find people. Not to mention that there are more visual cues than just their bodies (scratch marks, pools of blood) and audible cues too. (footsteps, foliage rustling, etc.)
-
The chorus of screams when you hit the 3-4 people with static blast.
-
I most often let Dwights live. Have tp pay respect to people playing my survivor main. Not always though. Anybody who amuses me in the match will probably get hatch. Like if they turn and drop their item for me mid chase when they know they're dead.
-
Killer: If the gates get powered and not a single person is dead or death hook. I'll usually open the gates and sit still or chase people out, but only when I'm not having fun. Usually I try until the end to make the best of it and at least get a 1k.
Survivor: When the killer is Spirit. I might try halfheartedly but god I just hate going against her so much. Devour Hope showing up is also a big one. It devours my hope for escaping just like the name would imply. In both of those cases I still play though, I just don't really try.

Doctor needs a full on robed plague doctor outfit, not just the mask
Or, a radiation suit
A plague doctor skin would be SO good.
-
I just want more Doctor cosmetics, I barely care what. They always do amazing with his cosmetics.
-
Honestly all three of them are really good, but I lean towards Doc's menu theme the most. You can probably guess why.
-
I'd say Doctor is a solid B tier killer. Upper B tier maybe?
