Necroposting is generally frowned upon. So is being a troll.

There is a three second grace period where Victor can still move off the object if he landed on one. Descriptions don't usually state every detail of every killers power but its not totally wrong as after that three seconds if Victor is not back on the ground he will get destroyed.

It would be really annoying if Victor would get insta destroyed when landing on any object and makes sense there is a grace period that he can move off of it. Still Victor is still slowed down most of that three seconds so he still needs to get off fast after landing.

In what i saw it seemed almost like they were taking advantage of that grace period to avoid potentially being kicked like i was hoping to do, which is a bummer. I havent played twins in a long time and ive never been excellent with them, but i always assumed that caveat of not landing on obstacles was to make the leaps tactical and calculable, not just like a "you cant hide on the roofs of buildings and stuff" but thats on me

    Ty for explaining much appreciated

  • @Goreh0wl this post was from 4 years ago be sure to check the timestamps before adding things

  • Theyve been trying to keep that horror factor up as much as possible without compromising on gameplay, i know there are a few maps where if you happen to be in a spot something jumps out at you and its scared me quite a few times

I super wouldnt complain about more ambiance if it was pushed to the background when more important noises are happening, and/or if there was an in game slider you can decide for yourself how much of what you want to hear.

Something i think would improve this a lot is making the chase music more terrifying, after a while it kinda seems goofy in most cases, if it was more basey and chaotic, just enough to be distracting to get that sense of panic while still being mostly nonintrusive chase music

Maybe having all that extra ambiance of birds and wind and leaves rustling exclusively while not in the terror radius would be nice, maybe it would just be super jank and distracting coming in and out idk

  • Had the same issue just now, downing a survivor right when another is fast leaving a locker with infectious fright, they were stuck behind the doors of the locker and couldnt move

  • He feels more balanced, and more predictable, and more... boring. Which i respect, and i imagine more fluctuating changes are on their way, but he doesnt feel like a thrill anymore, and thats a lot of what i liked about him

Although to be honest, im not quite sure which iteration i like more, but the previous one was more chaotic, and i like that in a game like this where doing the same stuff can start to feel a little repetitive

Notice how I never mentioned Nurse or Blight in my original post.

Also, ya know, those are only two Killers out of the entire Killer pool.

Hillbilly, Oni, Onryo to an extent, Hag to an extent, need i go on...?

A killer protecting a 3 gen from the beginning and not leaving it is a recipie for a loss for the killer. Having 4 survivors alive all without any hooks and one gen left to do, if the killer actually wins that, he deserves the win, lol.

imo, a killer camping a 3gen is just bad sportsmanship and unfun gameplay and shouldnt be rewarded, regardless of the skill involved

  • @adaw0ng said:

Isn't that just... No Way Out from Trickster? lmao

yea except for instead of no way out its claustrophobia and instead of having no way out mechanics it has claustrophobia mechanics

    ya goof lol

Why would the killer ever break that wall though? It would just open up another escape route for survivors.

To deal with vault issues for that being next to there

  • it was 4 vaults in a row in chase on the asylum map, thats the info i got

    @mizark3 said:

The triple vault block only applies in chase. Since the bots have wallhacks, if they perfectly vault back and forth from too far of a distance they will never enter chase, and thus skip over the window block. Since you didn't include video, this would be my first guess as to what is happening.

    @Steakdabait said:

Easily got a bot to trigger a window block within 30 seconds of starting a custom match. Are you actually in a chase with the bots?

  • @Emeal said:

That would make a great addon, if it was 5%. 15% is just too much.

it always finds a lobby in seconds with that find sound btw, but is then stuck in the search. That’s why I think it’s not normal

Make a recording on your phone or something and put it in the bug reports area, someone might be able to help you figure out what the issue could be

  • Meh, i think the fun of the game comes from chases and player interaction and something like a minigame while doing gens might be interesting, but it also kinda takes away from the feel of the game.

Doing gens is an objective, but the goal is to Survive.

    Fair▼

  • Excellent point. It would be cool to see something like if a survivor gets tunneled they get a small bonus to wiggling speed, or the killer is debuffed, and if that ends up letting the survivor escape grasp, they get loads of points. Something like if a survivor dies before 6 hooks is reached they get a bonus, or the first survivor that dies gets bonus points for every survivor that escaped after them.

No, people dont like Tunneling because it removes them from the game fast when it works (they barely can't play)

I dont think that the dev team will ever really be able to stop the worst part of gaming from being in this game. At the end of the day, if it awards 0 bloodpoints, or kicks them from the game, or stops them from getting any kills, people will still purposefully camp and tunnel and slug and hack and whatever else.

It's better to make sure that people that play nice get rewarded for it than to punish the people that don't.

  • I play for the fun of a good, fair game. Whether this means everyone does their best and is respectful, everyones being a shithead to each other for the fun of it, or people are compensated for d/cs or bad sportsmanship, (or my personal favorite when survivors throw their friends under the bus heheheh) I like when the game is an experience, and not a radical contest of cheese plays and glitch techs.

People who hack into the game and ######### around will always be in every game, and i dont really have anything against the dev team for that, but in situations where i hear about killers facecamping or deathslugging for the fun of being a douche, or survivors going full gen rush at the expense of one or two of their teammates, it just doesnt feel like a game with other people anymore, it feels like speedrun simulator where everyone simultaneously thinks that its a singleplayer game that has no impact on anyone else, or wherein those choose not to play to compensate them.

i think people ######### around with perk loadouts and skillsets and cosmetics and testing it out and finding something really broken or something that should work better than it does is really fun, and being befuddled when a survivor somehow breaks off into a sprint at mach 11 can be grating and annoying to people if it happens to often, but i love those moments of people not really knowing what theyre doing and just spamming nonsense to hope it works out.

More customization, as a broad baseline for this game, would make it super fun for me to come back to. Making it easier and more accessible to pick exciting perk combos, make your character look personalized without having to spend 20 bucks or 200 hours worth of playing to do it, making this game into less of a hardcore competitive challenge and more of a spooky horror experience and/or goofy exciting combo finder with loads of customization is what id really like to see from this game.

Being able to make your character look incredibly sinister, and being able to blend into the environment to jumpscare poor survivors would be loads of fun.

Being able to make your character look ridiculous and goofy and being able to meme around and play goofy who's-gonna-be-cute-enough-to-get-to-live games would be loads of fun.

Having something like a 24 hour daily [WE CRANKED THIS UNPOPOLAR PERK UP 300% WOAH] or every other day or on the weekends or something would be really cool to invite people to get to know all the perks, and experiment with different avenues of playing the game. Especially if there was a once a week or two new perk for killers and survivors that was just brand new, and was just out in the open for a week, and then tweaked a little; if both of these somehow landed on the same day as like a random chance thing that would be so much fun to just have this one broken perk that everyone uses that people are DESPERATELY trying to get a counter loadout for would be SO fun.

Maybe im in the minority, but it feels like the community, and maybe a little of the dev team, take this game seriously much more than they would ever need to. Epilepsy warnings or flashy jumpscares can be difficult to replace or impliment with minimized risk, but that kind of stuff is what i love about this game.

If im being honest, this game may just be too old for a hard pivot like that, or maybe there just isnt reason to make the game that way. But, thats what would seriously pull me back in. Thanks for reading. <3

  • I dont know where i read the quote, but i love the "Playing with BM will likely get you BM in response. If you troll around for a killer's attention, dont be surprised when you get it."

  • Personally i always try to play fair, so i think id enjoy it if there was a little more mandatory manners based on what ive heard, but i also play this game a very particular way so maybe its just me :3

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

Also while I'm at it I don't think constant meta changes are good for dead by daylight.

  • It could very easily be a cheater just as much as the server crashing and making everything go wonky for a minute, ive had it happen to me a few times. If it happens again, report the person, but id chalk this up to wonky server issues making everything look weird. <3

  • Survivors doing gens moves the game move forward, makes progress, and doesnt do anything except move through the game.

Camping/tunneling directly influence another player of the game in a negative way, creating a bad experience.

At the end of the day, if all you're trying to do is win a match, if all you care about is how many kills you get, then by all means do whatever you want.

I like to play powerful killers in a very fair and respectful way, so it feels like a contest of skill rather than how much either team can rack up points.

If you wanna win, and thats fun for you, win. But i (and i would hope at least a few other people) play this game because its fun, and having more people have fun is more enjoyable that winning an online match by any means necessary.

  • Something that i see around a lot and personally touches a nerve for reasons i dont really understand why is when people ask reasonably or not whether someone is new to the game or to the forum, and i know theres a thing that describes wherever you are how many posts youve made, and it would be cool if there was also a thing for how many hours you had in the game.

It would be unfortunate if it was generally unverifiable on places like mobile or xbox but it would be nice if it was something really simple like

    (white badge) <10 hours playtime

    (green badge) 10-25 hours playtime

    (blue badge) 25-75 hours playtime

    (purple badge) 75-500 hours playtime

    (red badge) 500-1500 hours playtime

    (black/ornate badge) 1500+ hours playtime

it would clear up confusion and you could set up a little thing with screenshots or something in the same way you ask for name changes or whatever that way people who wanted to show off game time could and people that were newer or maybe less inclined could not have a badge

and i mean people could fake it and get the best raddest badge but i mean like whatever it generally wont matter in cases other than you(or me more often) looking like an idiot and wanting to be sure that the reason im bad at knowing things about dbd is because im bad at knowing things in general and not because im new lmao

i would like this, it would make me happy, i would have a solid red badge :D

  • After reading a bunch of the stuff, i think its fair to say that in the same way that being slugged and waiting around for something to happen is poor gameplay experience, slugging survivors and just camping and waiting around is equally poor gameplay experience for our purposes.

At the end of the day, if the killer wants to have a relatively crappy experience being campy and waiting for survivors to slug out, theyre gonna have that crappy gameplay experience no matter how they have to do it, and trying to address it wont make the problem go away.

As much as this sounds like a really good concept and i would love to try it out personally, it just doesnt seem like something that would be more positive than negative for the majority of people.

“rank reset” doesnt exist, grades dont matter at all. Matchmaking is based off your mmr

if you could prove this to me, id be happy to believe you, but just from personal experience, theres no way i can believe this. Consistently ive seen evidence of rank reset concept, and maybe thats just me, but if you can find me a source on this i wanna know whats actually going on (or whats supposed to be going on)

The easiest and strongest way to nurf some Trickster gameplay is to hand you the controller and have you try him on my Xbox.

    VALID.

  • Eh, imo, avoiding mechanics that reward toxic gameplay is more important than making a certain aspect of the game less annoying to everyone. There are workarounds to the struggles, and i personally am fine with the issues that i face knowing if i didnt face them playing survivor would suck more than ive heard it already does

if youre playing killer, i think you should be aware that in this kind of game youre already in for a rough ride being the only one against 4 opponents, if someone doesnt like the way the game pans out when they arent willing to be sweaty even a little bit, then this game might just not be for them.

i kinda like how it is, but the idea of limiting survivors ability to escape if the egt is hit too quickly actually sounds sick as #########, and id so be down for that being a gamemode or something

also theres never an excuse for slugging imo

  • Ghostface or whatever the hell he's called def belongs on that campy tunnely list

  • @Brimp said:

Yeah but the claim of "I didn;t know he could smash mid dash and I did just fine" holds no proof right now. You can claim that but until I know the skill of the survivors you faced via video then I can make a good opinion.

i honestly tried man, i really did. my computer just isnt capable of playing this game and recording it at the same time. The video (i use obs) is supposed to be recorded on pretty low settings, 800p resolution, 30fps, but it just cant deal

its super choppy, and if you wanna see the video that i recorded at like .75 fps then i can get that for you but unless you think having a 360p video would work and/or be worth the effort i just dont think thats a thing i can do

    i really did try tho

  • @GuyInABlackTee @Devil_hit11 @Zeidoktor @FootMan2893

YOU ALL ARE SMELLY AND STUPID AND INSENSITIVE

nowhere in the description does it specify that you could reasonably use both abilities simultaneously somehow, and with killers like wraith i think its plenty fair to make the assumption that while in a special fast-moving mode you cant really do anything else until you cancel the movement

Also, i have the thing where it shows you the controls in the bottom of the screen at all times and when youre in demon dash it does NOT present the option to do it so i had literally no reason to believe that you could.

also who looks up videos on how to play the game learning is like the whole deal about playing

i would say '######### ALL OF YOU' but it would probably get me in trouble so i wont

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/372119/remove-the-onis-mid-sprint-kill-ability-from-the-game-forever

Well. As a survivor main that actually mained Oni for a short time when playing killer... This one is absolutely fine.

    • Good squad can deny his power for a long time (absolutely not the whole match as stated above - those are not public matches and I consider competitive just an outlier for core game) - until 2-3 gens actually pop.
    • There are loops that are perfect negation to him. It can't be too short, but it can't be too long. Perfect example for this one is map Ironworks of Misery and next to main loop long-ish crates with single pallet. No Oni can actually use his demon strike on that one and get the survivor (if the survivor is not outright throwing)
    • there are a LOT of opportunities for mind games (also this is one of the reasons I hate the idea of higher FoV/FoV slider for killers) - a good survivor will abuse your expectation of what he will do and hide behind a barrel (basically on a plain sight) or run out from behind a corner just as you are entering it - perfectly abusable on jungle gyms (and others conditionally too - for example I have seen a lot of LT's that allowed it, but also a lot of LT's that are easy for Oni)
    • Some filler pallets (they are not created equal - other fillers are death sentence) are very strong against his dash as it gives a lot of opportunities to dodge him + just move around as you recover

Overall his ability is one of the strongest in the game. But it's also very limited (in this regards same as plague). But even if it's strong, it still allows counterplay and mind games. This feels healthy to me. I see no reason why this should be changed. There are other things that are just pure unfair in the game (C33, tombstone piece, MDR, BNP's ...). Oni's ability 100% does not belong to that list.

Also - I presume you haven't played like too many games with the killer. Wait some time until your MMR adjusts and try to play at prime time where best survivors actually play (say at 8pm on Friday). You will be humbled very soon and very quickly (the only other alternative is, that you are insanely cracked at the killer - but that does not seem likely as I am sure you would know about demon strike in dash).

Valid, i hear all of you that responded, and big preesh. Imma play more through the reset, see if there is eventually a curve, get as high as i can, maybe ill post a video here and show yall if nothing changes for me.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Probably better to contact a mod directly. Last time I asked a question on the forum about a deleted post I made a mod messaged me privately and told me to do that if I had questions like that.

The post is back up, i assumed at the point i noticed also being the point i clicked 'save' wasnt inherently a coincidence, if im the only real person that has encountered this in a while then thats great but as far as i can tell the takedown could have just as easily been a temporary glitch with the servers that resolved itself as it could be a "Too Many Edits" causality

  • @[Deleted User] said:

How did you play Oni without knowing about his one shot during a demon dash? It’s such an integral part of his kit. Your anecdotal evidence of “doing fine” without it is easily dismissed, since we don’t know how good of a killer player you actually are and what types of survivors you get in your games. Furthermore, who cares. Honestly, Oni is one of the easiest killers to deny of their power. He also has some of the highest skill expression in the game amongst upper tier killers thanks to the various ways to use his dash and the pressure he can create with just a single use of that power.

as of the past 10 seconds, i just got a 3k with 2 alive on doors powered, one hook short and an INCH under a 4k, i didnt use the sprint smash once. This is not a fluke.

  • @OnryosTapeRentals said:

Oni is one of the most well balanced killers, he definitely does not need a nerf.

Universally unhelpful. I hold deep preference to information over opinion.

  • entitled takes all around tbh, its their game and they could just give you no statistics like every other game that there is, they arent under any obligation to do anything for you all

  • its ironic you calling other people crybabies over... anyway

i think youre missing something pretty important: You Don't Like Dead By Daylight. theres no need to make such a big deal about it.

if you think the game sucks, and you dont wanna play, don't. its cool. chill out about it

  • For each game, i count 0k as a loss, 1k as a tie-ish, and 2k+ as a win. I never play sweaty for kills but thats generally what i deem good gameplay, if they cant stop you from killing more than one of them youve got them beat

  • i dont get why people are always saying "iM LOsInG aLL tHe tiMe aND i gUeSs i hAVe tO cAmP aNd tUnNeL tO wIN nOw" ive never been a sweaty player for kills, ive never played toxic just because, and i dont have an issue with having to play dirty to win.

for me 0k is a loss, 1k is a tie, 2k+ is a definitive win, if you think differently ok, but if youre having a bad time and you start playing like a stank because its the easiest way to win thats on you, not on the people you lose against

and only sometimes on the devs for weird game but we love the devs theyre great

  • gottem. roasted. dog slammed. obliterated. demolished.

  • where would dcs or suicides or game throws or swf troll groups fit into this exactly

this post would be akin to saying all soccer games should end in a tie that way the matchups are fair

which isnt exactly ridiculous but leaving it at that is such an enormously understated undertaking that i dont even know what youre trying to say here

  • ive never had a truly bad time playing dredge hes weird but its great

  • If theres a baby, i generally try to kill them last or near last, usually they'll appear in front of me by accident so ill give them a smack then leave them alone, but at the end of the game if theres no real way for any survivors to make it out, i dont make it a special case to let them live because they're new

  • @Wowie said:

You're mad because they utilized their build effectively? lol

anyways imo the worst combos to see on survs is either self care + urban evade or stake out + hyperfocus. i tried a hyperfocus/stake out/fogwise/sprint burst build and it was extremely overpowered against an otherwise decent killer, and it was also super boring. self-care/evade is just annoying to see because people who run it are never good.

on killer it's either pain res + dead man's or call of brine + jolt/eruption. they're very strong and also imo quite boring but i can understand it i guess.

why you gotta make it weird man

  • I did a match where one survivor had the vault aura perk and lucky break and whatever the dance-with-me one is and they would just sprint from pallet to pallet and only loop it was lame and sad

  • In my experience noises for killer really only makes any difference only once a match, so i can kinda get why they havent bothered

  • I just had a 4k 0 gen no camping or tunneling or slugging, i dont have any issues its great for me

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

How would this work with other Boons effects though?

Since the main issue with the idea is that it would really shaft Dark Theory and Shadow Step, which are already neglected and ignored by the community.

At the end of the day you can always replace boons anyway, right? I dont know what those do but the effects for other boons wouldnt change, you can still place it wherever and have it work (and being a ######### and putting it down in the middle of a chase would be sneaky and awesome anyway)

just a nice change from 'put the boon far away and ######### up other stuff anyway' right

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

The obstruction is intentional and useful. On open maps it prevents survivors from seeing where you come from after a hook.

I dunno. If you a provide an example of where this is important maybe youd change my mind but that seems like not an important or reasonable game mechanic, especially if thats the only case where its a good thing

  • @bhvr I dont care what anyone says you guys are great and doing fantastic and i love you all <3
