Screw This New Ready Button

It's a downgrade from what we had before!

I HATE IT!

Why does it say EST. when it's not an estimate and is the elapsed time in the queue?

It is not a visual improvement.

  • I really, really hate it too!
I don’t understand why they would display information that serves absolutely no purpose.

  • I dislike the new ready button, way too big and red, and the new font/sizes of the names in the menu look not great, it looks like a mobile game where everything has to be stretched and big enough to being able to press and read on a tiny phone screen.

I don’t know what was wrong with the old one design.

  • And it no longer makes the bell sound.

  • I also don't like the new button, although the timer is a bug apparently, along with the sounds being missing. I think it's supposed to be fixed in the next hotfix, but I'm guessing the button itself will stay

  • Gaming companies seem to have a sickness. They NEED to improve perfectly good stuff like the UI, some killers (wesker cough cough) or perks.

No one asked for this. No one wanted this. The singled out person who pushed for this needs help. I am sure the professionals at BHVR are capable of caring reliably for their peers.

I genuinely hate how they feel the need to refine or improve things that literally EVERYBODY loves. Everyone likes the little "bum" sounds the ready up button made, it was the perfect size then they shrinked it for a patch, then they quadrupled the size, made it bright red, and removed the bum sound.

Same thing for Wesker people were literally praising BHVR for how fun he was to play as and against him, along with the amount of skill expression required to play him with a low skill floor and high skill ceiling. It really disappoints me how we feel the need to ruin good things.

  • I was so disappointed when I saw these changes. There was literally nothing wrong with the previous version. It’s incredibly frustrating that BHVR continues to spend resources on making unnecessary changes that nobody is asking for, yet ignores things that are needed like updating older content, balancing perks, and especially fixing the broken matchmaking system. It’s why I haven’t spent money for several years - they just seem to keep doing their own thing without prioritizing community feedback.

The UI Team Lead apparently worked on a lot of mobile games before. Those very nice ones which are "free", but require you to pay a lot of money via microtransactions to get something done. Very likeable. /s

And apparently nobody told that person that this does not work for DBD and will look horrible.

    @Topic:

Aside from what I have written above, the timer is a Bug. It should display the estimated queue time, this was not an intended change.

I have no idea why they do it. My best guess is they mean well and fck up.

Yeah, I'd rather they just focus on things people actually complain about

  • Apart from the missing bell sound it used to have, i otherwise don't really mind the change to the UI all that much.

  • No one even asked for that.

  • I can't think of a single positive UX change in the past year and a half besides the aura stuff and the estimated queue time that they now ended up removing.

  • Could be intentional?

Like what kind of bug removes accidentally the estimated queue time? My guess this way people more likely to wait 5-10+ minutes for the power role, if you saw that from the start you would just log out rather than playing survivor

You’d be surprised how often stuff seemingly unrelated to the update breaks. How often are maps killswitched? Remember when Nurse was killswitched for a month?

It’s where the spaghetti code accusations come from.

They already said it is unintentional. The Code of this game is just such a big mess that if you change something, something else breaks, might not even be related at all.

My favourite recent Bug is that snuffing out a Boon caused Locker Perks to trigger (like Ultimate Weapon). Two completely different interactions, yet the Spaghetti Code for some reason messed it up.

It has me wondering what the modders are going to encounter once they get their hands on it.

To be fair, this is after the Code Overhaul. So I doubt that the game will be in the same state.

    Ehhh…

Let’s hope. But I am sceptical.
