What perks do you think are slept on?

I want to hear about those perks that almost nobody uses but are actually super useful in your experience.

The big one for me as killer is: Spies from the shadows. You very rarely ever see anyone running it. But it's an excellent locator perk when you're tracking down survivors. Literally nobody runs calm spirit and survs very rarely bother (or have the luxury) to avoid scaring crows. The number of times I've used to it catch survs playing stealthy or lurking for saves after a down very high. It's also very hard for survs to sus out, since they have no concrete indicator that crows are catching them out. It gets around distortion and the only perk to counter it is literally never used except by jake adepts.

For surv atm I'd go wih counterforce. Granted it is VERY specific in use, but with the sheer number of killers using hex builds atm it actually really helps. It turns off TOTH builds pretty quickly and combos well with inner strength to allow you to always have a heal in your back pocket to quick recover after taking protection hits.

  • Premonition

Mainly because its one of the only survivor information perk on killer location that works against any killer in the roster and can't be blocked anyway of giving you the alert. Undetectable does not prevent it killers being in their power does not prevent it. It works any time the killer is in the area of the 45 degree cone and its not on cooldown.

  • Monitor and abuse by itself but only on one killer (Henry, maybe judgement will also be good with it), really helps against pre-running and also works well with nurses calling as survivors while healing thinks you are further away but you are able to hit them through walls.

  • Unforseen

I don't see it in play very often but turns any killer into a stealth killer that survivors are not expecting as they get no indication that the killer's terror radius is off, like with pyramid head's perk. And it can also be paired with other perks to suprise people that know its in play but forgot they can't tell if you are coming back to them once they jump on the gen within the gens terror radius. Its a great improvement to any stealth build, and suprisingly it actualy pairs with pyramid head's gen kick stealth perk as well, as you cycle between both since they have different cooldowns and durations.

I need to try this. I run trail a LOT.

I also run Spies from the Shadows in most of my builds and can also agree it's really good.

  • This might be a bit of an odd pick but honestly, I think Fixated as its own perk and not just a Sprint Burst/Exhaustion support perk is a bit slept on.

The ability to walk stealthily away while still making decent distance is really solid, I've come to like the perk a lot.

On the killer side… I would've said Dissolution, but I think people have started to catch on to that perk being really good, same with Gift of Pain.
So, I think my backups will be Furtive Chase and Gearhead. Those have both been pretty damn solid perks for a while and I don't see many people using them or talking about them.

  • I still like Franklin's Demise even after it's 'nerf.' Since it no longer reduces charges survivors will almost always waste time to run back to get it. Whereas if it lost charges they wouldn't bother usually. Plus it's very common to see all 4 survivors at the higher levels bring items.

Sure not a great perk, but still deserves more credit than it gets.

  • Agreed spies are great info perk that survivors newer expect and counterforce gets through nasty hex build very easily just one perk to destroy whole perk build a perk some people totaly sleep on its even one perk choice in comp survivor builds for its power.

  • Mirrored Illusion, Chem Trap, Bada Bada Boom, Blast Mine. Huge killer time wasters. The trap perks are best to pre-set on a strong-ish pallet and window setup. If you play it right, you can get a killer to swing at the illusion, get blinded on the gen kick, and then have to chase around a window and pallet trap. Massive time sink for the killer.

I've been using it quite abit on Jason and one thing im LOVING is how it screws over sabo saves. Often times, survivors will tank a hit then use a toolbox to sabo while your in the cooldown animation. Franklins completely botches that.

Imma be real... id probably throw the match to make sure you died after that, lol. I'll take a 1k if YOU died over a 3k if you lived if ya pulled something like that.

  • I run Treacherous Crows+No Mither so I'm the one person who the birdbros won't rat out!

I'm gonna give a quick shout out to Nic Cage all his perks are quality and powerful but I still see his perks get disrespected. 4x Scene Partner will be your most boring match of the day.

Empathic Connection is a really cool perk. 4x of that would be really cool to see. Can be a reverse Wake Up! I love taking Empathy and tbagging with it. I use this perk instead of Botany to help with Sable Care.

For Killer, Oppression is definitely slept on. I remember it's cooldown being crazy long, like 2 or 3 minutes? it's 35 seconds now. It's less map dependent than Surge, and it's effectiveness isn't dampened by survivor actions. It's just not very good at the start you kinda need someone on hook or dead but once the survivors get busy Oppression will start getting those abandoned generators regressing. I started using this perk a lot to combo with Unforeseen since Skull Merchant made pairing Surge with a lot of other perks difficult.

Spies is definitely a great choice.

Superior Anatomy kills. This is my staple in Count Barkula and no power Krasue builds but its because of the peace of mind the perk offers. Survivors feel awfully safe around windows.

  • Surveillance. It needs some regression perks to proc but it grants a very strong and reliable info, specially if you can proc regression with addons.

  • I think Tenacity gained a lot more utility when they added the fact it hides your aura when you're in the dying state

The current version text doesn't show this, because it's bugged and hasn't been fixed yet but you can use Tenacity to great effect with Plot Twist, it almost guarantees the Killer won't find you because not only will your aura not be shown, you can move and recover meaning you don't have to stay in one spot the whole time

If there's any betahub users reading this, please make a report about tenacity's missing text if someone hasn't already.

  • Poised for survivor and Silent Shadow for killer, but agree on Spies I got it as a random on Dracula and it helped me a lot.

  • Cut Loose

The sheer amount of times the killer has mind gamed themselves by me just double vaulting with cut loose and holding W away is crazy.

fixated or inner strength but i like running chest builds atm

  • Buckle Up. When paired with another perk that allows you to recover on your own, the effect works on yourself when you fully recover. So you can get up with UB or Exponential and get a massive speedboost with no scratch marks for a few seconds and completely ruin the killer's slugging pressure. It doesn't work with Conviction though

  • I think Surveillance/Ruin combo is still solid but you never see it anymore, I think it's more solid than running hive mind as surveillance isn't a hex but you get the important part of the information which is what gens are being worked on. Can be decent with Eruption and Oppression too.

Ultimate Weapon/Whispers is an interesting one. Wait until whispers procs then open a locker and pinpoint their location. You basically get doctor's power in your perks.

Built to Last I think can qualify for this in the sense everyone knows it's great for gen builds but I actually quite like it for healing builds too and I think it's underutilized for that. Get as many charges on it as you can have 6 self-heals at a much faster speed than self-care.

Extrasensory Perception I don't think gets enough love. Need to find a teammate for a heal or crank the last gen? ESP. Need to find the hatch? ESP. Need to figure out what angle the killer is coming from? ESP. It just does so many things for a single perk slot.

  • Its not a meta contender but I am insistent that Potential Energy is actually quite a good perk on its own merits after the last buff that made it 1-1. Very good for attacking 3 gens, isn't wasted if you have to dump it and run because its 1-1 so its not just lost time anymore, actually can help out with stealth early (or more situationally later on) if you're quick enough with it by disguising the first bit of progress you make, given it doesn't add to the noise or visuals on a gen if its stored in your back pocket so to speak.

Its also good against remote regression (especially Surge or Eruption) because you can gen tap to stop the regression before leaving, which also means it can be gen-uinely valuable to hold a couple tokens in reserve before you go for a hook save or the like so you can do the same there. Its not an exceptional A/S tier perk or anything, but it has some really nice features you can't get anywhere else, even with the danger that comes with holding a lot of tokens when moving.

  • Alert

This one fell into obscurity, and hardly anyone uses it, but ever since the Pallet Density increase, It's become an insane information tool for survivors that goes off constantly during a trial. Definitely an underrated perk people are sleeping on. Add Kindred or Eyes of Belmont and you never lose track of the killer unless they're a stealth killer, or using a stealth build, which surprisingly is the minority of killer players out there.

It did work with Conviction until a few weeks ago :(

Ruin/Surveillance is especially fun on Knight. It offers a lot of info that can let you get a lot of easy long range snipes with guards, and combined with his torch add-on you are nearly constantly undetectable.

  • Coulrophobia was slept on for ages, it's come into use a lot more lately and now its getting nerfed.

Languid Touch, Forced Penance, Genetic Limits, Dissolution

  • Yeah I know, and honestly I'm not sure why it was removed. Now the functionality is inconsistent with Soul Guard which does still work

Forced Penance is so heavily slept on. It's a disgusting perk if you are open to play dirty. Forcing survivors to play risky instead of resetting can pay off big.

  • Reactive Healing paired with Solidarity, allows you to tank hits, pick up survs against slugging killers and then tank more hits after. It’s a really odd anti-slug build that can get around endurance granting perks cooldowns and plus it leaves you less likely to be cornered with a killer just waiting out your MFT timer.

Video from my channel showing it in practice: https://youtube.com/shorts/eS5ZU_abb4A?is=dKU-dZLkl66QEepT

I really like this build because it does look like you’re cheating just a tiny bit.

Must admit I had forced penance show up in chaos shuffle and against a wannabe bully squad. Needless to say it absolutely slapped.

Yeah languid touch is actually insane. I've never run it on killer but in my survivor games (I lean on lithe pretty hard) it has been royally screwing me. Make mid chase exhaustion perks almost unusable. Very strong.

And used to love comboing Coulrophobia with distressing or other perks that mess with tr, e.g. unforseen, dark devotion etc.

  • Inner strength is a regular one in my builds. Such a good perk. Having an 8 second heal in your back pocket is invaluable. And as a bonus after pulling 2 or 3 inner strength self heals you pretty much max out survival bp even if you die.

It's so nasty against the common typus of bully squads it's insane.

Can't heal in ten seconds if you can't heal at all.
