Why does Jason get to have this on top of everything else?
That's not even a pallet spawn, it's just an extra spot he gets to teleport to. His teleport locations are always a couple of feet away from generators.

nothing even surprises me anymore
Is that why I've been seeing those? That's insane we already have pallet density so he has more than enough spots to go to.
I found this pretty gross when I realized it. Gross, but not surprising. God forbid he doesn't have a teleport spawn every 2 meters. Compare it to Dredge who's just out of luck if there's no lockers, or Springtrap's static locations, or Unknown's limited and dispellable dupes. But this one killer gets the world.
Maybe if pallets were closer to gens….
It's pretty rare for a generator to not have a pallet or window very close to it.
And then apparently if there isn't one, the game just makes an extra spot for him to teleport to.
Give dredge vents next to gens atp or force locker spawns next to them.
This is a bug some reason there is quite many odd things going on with Trickster's Illusion. It can be even game breaking for Jason as he can get stuck on the stall in the market because of those wrongly spawned pallet scrabs. Its been reported and its currently Under Investigation so most likely fixed in the next patch hopefully.
Easy to say but will it be done? It's been years. Old killers that aren't making money aren't a priority. I cooled on playing Dredge because some maps had gens that had no tp locations nearby. One of my last attempts to play I spawned into Badham and just DCed, and I can count my DCs on my fingers.
Not sure if this is not a Pallet Spawn, but at the very least, he can go to Pallet Spawns which did not spawn a Pallet. And I dont know why this is the case, he already has so many spots where he can teleport to, they dont need to put up more.
And what @cogsturning said is also true, Dredge gets ######### over by RNG, if a map does not spawn lockers in certain locations. Jason gets many more teleport locations for no reason.
I have the firm belief that killers whose entire power is reliant on lockers should have more lockers spawn than other killers in order to make them more consistent across all maps.
Or just more Lockers in general. I thought it was strange that some time ago Huntress got a Buff by having more Hatchets, but Dredge and Trickster did not get anything, because their reliance on Lockers was unchanged.
That actually is a pallet spawn all though a bit rarer. That has a chance to be a god pallet.
Look at Zakon's picture though. Thats a completely different configuration of the tile and the "broken pallet" in the middle of nothing…kiiiiiinda stupid aint it?
That does explain how this happened then, but it seems like normally that spot can only be a generator or a pallet.
I don't know, I just feel like an effectively 115% movespeed projectile killer doesn't need to be able to spawn that close to generators with no warning other than you know he's moving around somewhere on the map.
I've seen this on other maps too, not just Trickster's Delusion
I’m sure Jason will get some adjustments once the sales numbers are within the target range. Right now, Jason outclasses a lot of similar killers, like Wraith, Huntress, etc. After a month or so, once enough revenue has accumulated, they will address it. That’s just the usual process.
My Dredge would love some extra lockers on certain maps too. Too bad he is not a licensed killer with heavy marketing behind him.
He will get changed in the mid-season patch as thats when they do buffs or nerfs. After release patches are mainly for bug fixing. Still in reality Behavior would want original chapters to sell better than the licensed as on originals they don't need to share the money with anyone.
Not quite sure about that. Don't forget that original chapters ALSO dont have to be bought with cash. Licensed chapters are guaranteed cash while alot of ppl use shards to buy the original characters. 50% of something is better than 100% of nothing.
Still I would imagine most people will buy them with money because they want to support the game. Later people might unlock them with shards but in the end I would imagine the sales are what makes them more money as license will always cut profit because of their cut.
While it is a different configuration it still is a potential pallet spawn with the addition of props beside it.
Its not just on tricksters map. he gets these pallet scrap on places where pallets CAN spawn not where they DO spawn on many maps. (ive seen on red forest and temple of purgation where I know for certain no pallets have been dropped) so you end up having pallet scrap where there was no pallet that match leading to places with heaps of spawn locations
I feel like tricksters map is just working by same logic If it is a bug tho its not just that one map.
That's what I'm thinking its just using same logic as every other map for scrap spawns. If it a bug every other map is also bugged then.
I really don't understand where this narrative came from, it has absolutely no basis in reality.
The only times I've seen killers get released OP and nerfed quickly were Xenomorph and Krasue.
I swear this talking point appeared overnight after Chucky got nerfed an entire year after his release. Not even after his initial rework, since he was still strong after that.
But the thing is the props are NOT beside it. It's just a free spawn for Jason. If there were props there and it spawned in then sure fine and dandy, but there's a bit of stupid here just plopping a spawn because a different configuration can have one.
I feel like that would make for a good poll. Personally, I haven't paid cash for an original character in like 8 years.
I have never once bought anything wirh money that could be obtained through shards.
Interesting, but I don’t really agree with that.
Maybe you weren’t around for The Ghoul release, or maybe you just remember it differently, which is fine. But Kaneki also came out in a very problematic state and was pushed pretty heavily from a marketing perspective. Obviously not on the same level as a 10th anniversary chapter with Jason as the main flagship character(special livestreams, huge announcements), but still a big release.
He is in a much healthier spot now, but on release there were definitely serious balance issues that got addressed step by step over time.
That is basically my point. Big releases can come out overtuned or in a rough state, especially when there is a lot of marketing behind them. Then, once enough time, data, and feedback exist, they get adjusted.
I’m not saying Jason has to be gutted. I just don’t think it is unrealistic at all to expect adjustments when his current risk/reward is this far off.
He shouldn't be able to teleport to 'potential' pallet spawns at all btw.
I was around for Ghoul. But I feel like you're changing your argument a bit here, which I understood to be that they deliberately overtune killers on release to make them sell better.
Like Ghoul I think is actually an example that they don't balance to push sales. Ghoul's initial nerfs took him from high A-tier… to high A-tier. In fact in some ways he became stronger since they toned down that ridiculous auto-aim, allowing him to more easily use advanced techniques like dashing past survivors to cut them off. He's caught more nerfs since then but his tier placement has barely moved.
He definitely sold a lot, as a lot of people picked him up, as evidenced by the fact he's been one of the most popular killers since he came out. You'd think they'd have nerfed him by now if sales numbers were their motivating factor, since the community has been crying for his blood since day 1 of his release and he's still possibly the most hated killer in the game.
To tell the truth I don't even understand what their balancing philosophy is. Like Dracula and Springtrap, for example.
Dracula released strong and got buffed after release. Springtrap released mid and got nerfed. Neither of these things make sense.
You cannot just look at Ghoul and say that he is the norm. If you look just a Chapter after that there is Springtrap, who released in a completely fine state despite being licensed. The reason is that Anime in DBD was way more controversial since there were people who outright did not want to have an Anime Chapter in the game. So Ghoul was made stronger, since it could be assumed that not so many people would buy it compared to Springtrap. So to get people who are not fans of the Franchise and are simply completionists to buy it, they made a Killer which is very easy to play and one of the strongest Killers in the game. There was no need to do this with Springtrap.
And honestly, there was also no need to do this with Jason. I dont know why they did it, maybe they feared that people would not buy it because it is technically not Friday the 13th or whatever. But licensed = OP Release in general is not really the case.
I think there are two separate points here.
First, about Ghoul: I don’t agree that he simply went from “high A-tier to high A-tier”. Maybe that is where people place him now, but his release state was far more problematic than that to me. Whether someone calls it S-tier or overtuned high A-tier is mostly semantics, but he clearly had serious issues that were addressed step by step over time. The fact that he is in a much healthier spot now does not mean his release state was fine.
Second, I actually think Aven_Fallen makes a fair point. “Licensed killer = OP release” is not a universal rule. Plenty of licensed killers did not release in a crazy state, and some were even weak or average. So yes, it is not that simple.
What I do think is that chapter context and marketing pressure can matter. I obviously don’t know BHVR’s internal reasoning, and it could also just be a balance philosophy issue. But Ghoul was a heavily pushed anime chapter, and Jason is on another level entirely: the 10th anniversary flagship character and one of the biggest horror icons they could possibly add. So I don’t think it is unreasonable that people are skeptical when he releases with this much power packed into his kit.
With Jason, the problem is not just “he has many powers”. I actually like that he feels like a Swiss army knife. That can make a killer interesting for both sides. The problem is that the practical details add up too hard: Jump Scare value across vertical maps, Killer Instinct catching people through situations where other stealth killers would not get that kind of info, add-ons creating almost free Exhaustion scenarios or basically auto gen regression on the fly, and how quickly he can threaten or cancel spear pressure compared to other ranged killers.
That is why I still see him as a power creep problem right now. Not because every single part of his kit is unbeatable, but because the total package outclasses too many older killers while punishing him too little for mistakes. The solution should not be to drag every older killer up to that level, they need some love too in the right way for sure. But Jason's risk/reward needs tuning so the counterplay feels earned and fair for both sides.
so on every map there will be broken pallets where a pallet could’ve spawned but didn’t and is instead used for jason to teleport to which I agree is stupidly unnecessary considering the strength of his spear and add ons. a good rework would be gutting his add ons and the accessibility of his spear since there are so many hooks and spear spawns
