The Game Is Going The Way Of VHS

The team role is getting to the point where only certain characters can compete against them and even then it's only if the team makes a mistake. Seriously go play like 50 matches of Sadako and you'll see what I mean once you're playing against people who know what they're doing you'll realize some killers just can't keep up with the current pace of the game.

Then you've got the perk design. Ya know the release of Henry gave me hope that BHVR realized that they should probably give killers perks with decent strength but nah right back to business as usual with Jason's perks where most of them aren't great...

Meanwhile devs had the bright idea of giving survivors cross examination a perk that'll allow you to give yourself elusive mid chase. I've said it before and I'll say it again for the people in the back elusive should be an effect only given to you through altruistic play from another player it's not something you should be able to give yourself.

Meanwhile the devs outta the blue said that ya know what 15 to 20 pallets on every map in every realm is totally fair. All the while some killers have known bugs that kill their kits or make them harder to play than they need to be. Or in the case of doctor literally cause an accessibility issue

BHVR is balancing around the best players that play the best killers but on the flip side they're balancing around new and bad players for the team role rather than teaching or expecting them to learn. Things can't continue like this or it'll kill the game.

  • To be fair, mentioning Sadako is putting your thumb on the scale a little. She may be weak - though for the record I've been learning her and I think she's not COMPLETELY incapable of performing - but she's also one of the four actively weak killers in the game.

There's a big difference between "only some killers CAN compete" and "only some killers CAN'T compete", and DBD is way closer to the latter. Sure, you'll struggle a lot if you play D tiers like Trapper, Skull Merchant, and arguably Sadako + Ghostface depending on how strict you're being, but if you just move up to mid tiers like Wraith, Clown, Demogorgon, and Legion you'll have a much smoother time.
I firmly believe that the vast majority of killers can compete, and the main distinction between top-but-not-S-tiers like Wesker or Nemesis or especially Ghoul and respectable B tiers like the above is just how easy and how straightforward their gameplans are. Not to say that's a bad thing, necessarily, but I think some people get almost tricked into thinking some killers are weaker than they are because the straightforward gameplan that works with strong chase killers isn't how you'd go about playing them.

I won't touch on the PTB perk stuff because none of that has actually happened yet, we're still in the "give feedback and wait" phase, but other than that the game really isn't in as bad a spot as you're claiming, I don't think.

Y'all said that with fast track and it went to live as is and took 2 months to rectify meanwhile the Wesker bug got him kill switched immediately. Also BHVR not touching KNOWN bugs one of which can cause seizures isn't a good look chief

    Oh, right, I see.

To clarify: I'm not saying "don't worry it won't make it to live", I'm saying "my focus here is on the live game and not the PTB". If those perks hit live unaltered, yes, they'll be a problem, I'm just not talking about the PTB right now, I'm talking about how killer's in a pretty good spot overall with only some problem areas.

  • But my main gripe is bugs that are beneficial to survivors or hinder the killer stay with no signs that it'll be removed but, the day footage pops up of a bug that causes something beneficial for a specific killer they get kill switched. Wesker wasn't available for most of 2 v 8 because of it. All I'm saying is BHVR needs to prioritize bug fixes more

To be fair, that's not what the bulk of your post is referencing, so I assumed the overall strength of killer vs survivor was your main point.

Sure, though, it'd be nice if BHVR prioritised bug fixes better, I won't disagree with that.

  • So, a killer is supposed to win 100% of the time? We're almost there like it is.

This is exaggerating a bit, wouldn't you agree?

Sure, survivors are on a high right now. But, that may change (and probably will). The sides will get buffs and nerfs and changes, as they do now.

Nah most killers even the strongest ones are sitting around 54% which means it averages out to 2 kills per match which is logged as a loss in mmr so there's that. I just wanna see bugs fixed and survivor power toned down and the number of pallets toned down 15 to 20 is a bit excessive you have to admit

That's wrong but even if you were right that would sound fair to me. Average of 2 kills is pretty balanced. But unfortunately the current balance is closer to 3k will makes survivor insufferable. Have you ever watched a good killer main? They never lose. I don't think that is balanced

That's a skill diff on the survivor end tbh if the average survivor mains weren't complete dog water they would not need the extra wank. Take WoO it's a training wheels perk to learn lay outs. If players were actually learning they'd take the perk off no? Controversial take I know but bad players shouldn't be able to win it is why I was always on board with blight nerfs byw

I win a lot of my matches. I am just not having fun because much of the roster is pigeon holed into playing in a very specific way without making even a single mistake or they lose its exhausting. Meanwhile on survivor you don't have to try really. I think that's a bit of a problem. The role that people come to the game for doesn't feel fun even when you win because of how stressful it is.

And what are you sitting at? Cause that's not where I am, nor is anyone else I know. Nightlight is not an accurate source of information.

It's not a tragedy to lose MMR. If you lose a lot, you need to go back down to where you can handle things. That's the point of the system, not to use some invisible number you assume is high as a badge of honor.

Saying killer is the role people come to the game for is a little presumptuous. Survivor isn't challenging in the mechanical sense but it does require game sense and I guess I'll say puzzles solving skills that can be engaging in terms of chaining loops, knowing when to unhook, making sure you don't 3 gen yourself knowing specific killer counters, etc.

As for killers some of them are weaker sure but I'm actually going to say that's mostly because of map design. Play Ghost Face, Dredge, Trapper on a map like Midwich or Lery's and they're surprisingly fine if not good even. It's just most maps are so open a lot of things those killers need aren't really available to them a lot of the time (line of sight blockers, lockers, dark floors that make traps harder to see) so you're playing against the map as much if not more than the survivors. All this to say the community really should talk about maps more than they do.

Cross-Examination is interesting cuz it's actually borderline fine it's just the fact it lasts for 5 seconds after you leave the light marks that makes it a bit too strong, if it was 2 seconds I think it'd be fine. But I also don't get complaining about new strong survivor perks. Like WoO is "training wheels" (it's not but this post is already too long to go into that so I'll just mention maps are partially RNG) Exhaustion perks are crutches, complaints about DS, "Gen Rush" perks like Prove and Deja Vu I genuinely think some people think survivors just shouldn't have perks. You didn't say all that but I've seen people complain about every single half decent survivor perk at some point and it's silly.

But most of all calling this game VHS is just untrue considering killer used to be MUCH worse to play to the point survivor queues were getting to be minutes long because nobody wanted to play killer and then we got Dredge mid chapter (I think it was 6.4 but don't remember) where killers got massive buffs across the board and killers have continued to get tweaked since. I don't agree with everything BHVR does and they do make some truly ridiculous changes sometimes (see almost every time they touch clown or murdering Merchant on purpose) but I don't think BHVR can be accused of not listening.

You hit the nail on the head there. A lot of people really do think that survivors just shouldn't have perks. That's why there's a lot of slugging going on, according to those Killer players themselves. And a lot of people seem to think that using perks effectively is considered "abuse" (I've seen that opinion from both sides).

  • It’s not a problem with overall game balance. It’s a problem with the devs refusing to buff weak killers (like Sadako) to make them more viable. They also need to nerf a few of the S-tier killers. There’s a lot that can be done to get the killers closer together in relative strength. All it would take is some minor adjustment to numbers for powers/add-ons. This is a very minimal amount of work so there’s really no excuse for killers going years without any adjustments other than “it doesn’t generate more revenue”.

Yea you got Ghoul and Krasue the king & queen of autoaim no skill free hits, multiple anti-loop plus catch up for free whenever you get outplayed killers, make-a-wish myers rework, all in the last couple years, but survivors have "training wheels".

however, WoO is stupid and should have been nerfed years ago. 5 Steps Ahead is another badly designed perk. we don't need the giant RPG quest direction arrow for chases.

Who said that killers are supposed to win 100% of their games? And how are we “almost there like it is”? Average kill rate is 60%. If you do the math to work out the probabilities of a match ending with exactly 3 kills or 4 kills, it’s actually slightly below 50%. So, despite your insistence that killers win most of their matches, it simply isn’t true.

The key flaw in your way of thinking is that the game has to be balanced around the top players in the game. You are probably never going against these top killer players. As I explained already, the average win rate (not kill rate) for killers is slightly below 50%. That’s pretty balanced to me. Your demanding of nerfs for all killers because there are a few really good players who win most of the time makes no sense because it would simply reduce the win rate for all killer players, even the average and bad ones, making the killer side more miserable. I don’t know you so I can’t say this for certain, but it seems like you probably don’t play the killer side. The devs have to balance the experience of both sides as (obviously) helping one side hurts the other side and vice versa. As someone who plays both sides about 50/50 the overall balance , the current balance feels about right. I have some miserable matches on both sides, but my average kill and escape rates are pretty close to the target averages and overall I’m satisfied with the balance.

This proves nothing. Survivor queues are instant most times of the day except for peak evening hours when people get on to play with friends. During the off-peak hours, it’s a lot more solo players and many of them prefer to play killer. It has always been that way.
