Seeing a whole bunch of planned anti-"killer playstyle" coming

Are these going to be like all the other anti-"insert playstyle here" changes that have happened before where it's a straight negative for the killer and nothing else for doing the playstyle, or it's basekit changes to survivors.

OR. Are we going to start seeing the smart decision in, maybe improving killer gameplay so that those tunneling / slugging / camping playstyles aren't what you need to do for the slightest chance at winning against competent survivors?

I mean seriously. When are we going to see ACTUAL incentives implemented for multi hooking? What are killers allowed to do? Tunneling isn't allowed, camping isn't allowed, slugging isn't allowed, but 3 genning ALSO wasn't allowed and also got patched out, which btw you guys still haven't done anything about the fact that you butchered most of the gen perks in the game, but never rebuffed them after patching out 3 genning with regression events (minus CoB soon although still worse than what it was initially).

It's like you desperately want multi-hooking to be the main go-to playstyle, but have done nothing to push the game towards that outside of adding constant deterrents. How about instead of adding negative effects to deter killers from the problematic playstyles, add positive effects to multi-hooking??? So then killers will want to multi-hook more and it will actually feel rewarding to do.

Instead of making killers feel obligated to do it because you punish them for doing something different but then when they go to do the preferred "fair" way of playing, they quickly realize how garbage it is and how big of a detriment it is.

  • Main Nurse for the time being. Whatever plan they have will be awful which will take months or years to solve.

  • We don't get actual game improvements for killers here, that's only for survivors, its always deterrants and punishments. Always the stick instead of the carrot. Because why fix things properly when you can throw out bandaids to appease a whiny playerbase.

  • I think viewing these things as "playstyles" and not balance issues leads to feeling more jaded and hard-done-by than is really necessary, so I'd probably advise against it.

If you take a step back and look at the game, you'd see that BHVR actually very consistently buff the alternatives to these issues, because any balance buff that comes to the game is geared towards helping killers engage with the game's fundamental mechanics. Any time they buff a killer's basekit, it's a direct boost to that killer's ability to multi-hook, among other things. Same for killer perks, they're all either directly or indirectly geared around what you refer to as "multi-hooking" because that's just the video game Dead By Daylight. Anything we get is intended as a boost to being able to engage with that effectively.

  • It's funny how neither the community or BHVR has learned that adding anti-killer mechanics has never improved the quality of the game. In fact the game has arguably only gotten worse, because all it's done is force killers to play optimally.

anti tunneling worked great though it made the game better?

  • I just looked outside. Once again, the sky is not falling.

  • I'm sorry the Devs are taking the crutches off. I'm sure your MMR will settle and you won't need to play that way.

Basekit BT is probably one of THE best changes ever made to solo queue

  • We need anti gen rushing basekit mechanics

  • Old BBQ was great for wanting to spread hooks. Me and many killers would go out of our way to get those stacks back then.

How can people unironically say this? There have been made A LOT of improvements for Killer. Killer was much harder years ago, and I am not even talking about 2016 or 2017. The game just got better for Killer over time.

Absolutely none of the changes killers have ever gotten, have improved multi-hooking. Sure it makes it easier by just making the killers flat out stronger, but that doesn't mean it still isn't a detriment to go for multi hooks.

Again, this is a bone headed reply from someone who doesn't understand fundamental game design. Adding nothing but negatives to alternatives is NOT the better way to make people play the "fair" way. All you're doing is frustrating one side, and appeasing the other. When you could literally just appease BOTH sides.

    It's objectively incorrect.

Name changes that have specifically boosted multi-hooking

The changes to perks like pain res or effects like grim embrace where you get value when you hook a fresh survivor and get that benefit immediately rather than after or if you manage to tunnel a survivor out. Or perhaps how most if not all changes to anti tunnel perks wont affect you as a killer by hooking different people.

And side note, if it buffs killer in general, it also buffs multi-hooking, since ya know its part of any killer's kit.

Literally none of those have done anything in improving multi hooking. Multi hooking is still far and away the biggest detriment of a playstyle you can do as a killer. Also listing "avoiding anti-tunnel mechanics" is NOT something that improves multi-hooking lmfao. That's the very negative effects I have been speaking about that deter you from doing the problematic playstyles but do nothing to make multi-hooking worthwhile.

Even after all those buffs to killers (which btw some of them have just been straight up nerfed and not buffed at all) and those hyper specific perks multi-hooking is still terrible.

Why not simply give it a basekit reason to do it so it isn't a complete waste of time and a detriment to do?

Question: did those not improve the value of multi hooking as you asked? Yes they did cause you get immediate value when you very likely need it rather than when you don't by rotating once.

Wouldn't it count as a increase by making there be a decrease to the other way to do things? Probably does but whatever.

Those aside, simply adding a basekit reason doesn't necessarily stop people from doing it the other way. Those perks mentioned before work better when not tunneling but the killer can still tunnel AND potentially get value out of them. Adding a basekit feature would just give those who do X or Y playstyle more and no reason to stop.

Lastly its only detrimental if you've relied only on 1 way to play.

you say this and someone will swoop in to gaslight you and be like "multi-hooking is fine, you're just bad at pressuring" or some other BS. survivor mains want the killer to sweat their ass off for a 10 hook 2k while they play the game with leisure, and that is why they cry about tunneling and camping and act like there is absolutely nothing you can do to counter those strategies

No. They don't, because multi-hooking is still garbage. It's almost as if, just increasing random stats of certain specific killers and having 2 perks in the game centered around getting multiple hooks, isn't enough to warrant multi-hooking. If anything, those perks and changes just make the other playstyles better while multi-hooking stays irrelevant.

Adding a basekit reason absolutely would provide at least a BIGGER reason for people to try out multi-hooking. People don't tunnel or camp because they want to, they tunnel and camp out of necessity because multi-hooking is a complete and utter waste of time. You actively stunt your ability to win the game, when you go for multiple hooks. Leaving yourself in a 1v4 for longer is a free loss, especially since you get nothing out of multi hooking. You just don't.

It's only "garbage" in comparison to tunneling cause removing someone from the game doesn't have a equal. They tried to make rotating hooks more enticing and easier yet they people still do. The carrot has been offered, it's stick time.

First, people don't tunnel out of necessity, that is bs and we know your not going to believe anything else about it so leave it there.

Second your building up your skills so when things change your able to adapt and be able to handle more, so your losing short term for the long term. Tell us, do you think that a properly implemented (we specify as not being easily abused) anti tunneling system affects those that didn't tunnel like mad?

Third, what basekit reason would equate to a dead survivor? Some slow down? We had a era with huge slowdown and while not basekit, it didn't stop tunneling, doubtful anything they can add basekit would stop it unless it was completely borked. Anything else? Would probably be laughed at by a majority of folks.

Last, and this is more an opinion/question thing so not to relevant, if you were to win a game in the most boring way time and time again, would you still enjoy that game?

wow they patched the game and changed many of the busted ######### that survivors could abuse such as old dead hard and boon: circle of fairness, I guess any complaints from now on are invalid

I mean, technically this already debunks the "We don't get actual game improvements for killers here, that's only for survivors".

But if you look at Maps, they are vastly different. And even some balanced maps switched to killer-sided, especially with the introduction of new Tiles. Whenever a Jungle Gym gets replaced with a new Tile, Killers win this one. New Tiles added are never survivor-sided (if they replace old Tiles). Heck, we even have Double Pallets and those are now issue.

The harsh truth for some people is - if you STILL struggle on Killer in 2025, it is on you. 100%. Sure, you will lose some games and there will be games where you feel that you lost it from the start. However, those are outliers and the overall Killrate of 60% shows that Killers dont struggle as much as some people claim it to be. If you have ONLY bad games, you are doing something wrong.

love the wording "there are some games WHERE YOU FEEL you lost it from the start"

why are so many people afraid of admitting that some games as killer are straight up impossible to win and that you cant out-skill you way out of every situation?

there are games where you have lost from the get-go. not "where you feel" you lost it. that's another gaslight statement that survivors love to use to try and tell killer players that everything is their fault
