What's supposed to be fun about going against the Knight?
Genuinely curious what the devs were thinking when designing this killer.

“What’s supposed to be fun about going against the Knight?”
Nothing, unless you find holding down the W key fun.
That's literally all there is to it.
Outsmarting him essentially, ive play him plenty (hes my main, fight me bruh), so ive seen what people do to deal with him, and thats, outsmart him.
Predict where he will set up a guard, if they make a particularly long patrol, thats A LOT of distance you can gain if they mess up, keeping track of which guard he has can also be useful, specially when its Carnifex.
And yeah, thats what i do myself when facing him, remember he cant see you during patrol, hes like Spirit, but without the scratchmarks, only the sound and bloodpools.
And contrary to popular belief, he sucks at camping, his guards are just for scare, since touching the hooked person makes them disappear.
Being able to test your map knowledge and positioning. Contrary to popular belief, holding the W key doesn't counter Knight. It helps him.
Sure, whichever guard is chasing you isn't likely to land a hit. But they don't have to hit you. They just have to keep you busy whilst Knight does something else. And if Carnifex is chasing you, and all you do is run forward, you're going to do a full cross-map run before getting on gens again.
That being said, there's still lots that could be improved about Knight's design. I'm still in the process of creating a full re-work for him that I'll post once it's finished.
If making a killer takes 12 months, I genuinely do not understand how killers like knight and mid merchant make it through the playtesting phase without everyone complaining about the gameplay. Did not one playtester try 3 genning with knight or mid merchant???? And how did nobody find out that they can just drop their power and FORCE someone to leave?? Or did everyone do all those things, but bhvr was so far into developing them that they didnt want to fully rework them?
Fun thing about vsing knight is that you are not playing against skull merchant.
Am I the only person who finds him fun to verse?
how can you suck he sucks at camping when you can camp someone and a generator at the same time, this is very useful for stalling the last ~15 seconds of a hook without losing pressure
He can be fun to loop against when you understand how to exploit the guards' AI.
Thing is Knight does have counter play, but the things you do against him are literally the exact same at every tile: just run and hope you make it to safety. It’s super uninteresting. At least with Nurse you have a couple different things that you can do despite good Nurses being almost impossible to juke.
Touching the flag and laughing in the killer's face said that "thanks for the speed boost" is quite fun for me.
Depends on how the Knight plays.
If he just insta-drops, then very little. It's just holding W again and again.
If he actually tries predicting your pathing, sending guards ahead to cut you off, and then going in for a pincer? The idea is to outsmart each other. Predict one another's paths and see who makes the right read.
Back before the overhaul to 3 genning I hated Knight, now I enjoy playing against him quite a bit. Dealing with minions on the map is a nice change of pace from every other killer. Does it occasionally put you in a spot where you are just outrunning something, sure, but there's lots of times as survivor (healing, hanging on hook, doing a gen), where you are fulfilling an objective.
I guess the idea was to create a killer that is completely unique and also has somewhat unique counterplay?!
But I agree that playing against Knight isn't fun.
Weird because thats the current meta with MFT but you also can't play killers to counter holding w across the map otherwise "You're boring"
The flag isn't reasonable to obtain in most chases but if it was the knight would be far more engaging
Yea he’s a pretty miserable killer. And they always play super scummy.
They were thinking about a killer that you have to read what he's thinking to out play him
