New coldwind rework just ruined the entire dbd lore. Also, please rename the game.

They actually think it's a good idea to make a daylight map in this game.

Even dead dawg saloon was a least failure because the sun there could at least be partially explained by a sunrise or a sunset, so it's kinda stuck in between so it was close, but never actually started. Just like death for survivors.

Dear "Dead by DAYLIGHT" developers, would you mind answering a few questions?

SINCE WHEN ENTITY STOPPED BEING HURT BY LIGHT?

since when killers, who get literal burns from weak flashlights stopped being afraid of broad daylight?

WHY DID YOU FEEL LIKE IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA OF KILLING THE IRONY OF "DEAD BY DAYLIGHT" BY ADDING A MAP WHERE THERE IS DAYLIGHT?

CAN SURVIVORS JUST DIE PERMANENTLY WHENEVER THEY DIE ON THIS MAP?

CAN YOU JUST RENAME THIS GAME INTO SOMETHING LIKE "CIRCUS OF PAIN" ? IT WOULD BE WAY MORE LORE ACCURATE THAN WHAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE NOW?

Delete the sun from this map.

Make it dark.

Stop ruining the last pieces of consistency in an already ruined lore.

Or just say ######### it and start adding teletubbies as killers, it wouldn't do any worse at this point anyway.

  • I understand you, but obviously the map can represent the entity's deceptions towards the survivors, giving them a glimmer of hope to escape, which allows the entity to continue to exist and be a devourer of worlds. Also the map is based on the memories of the killer coming to light (Hillbilly) in the cutscenes of the take that is reflected when he murders a sheriff and is locked up by his parents. It may be the reason you decided to go from a cold night to a bright sunrise or sunset. After all it is a graphic change. As other Ormond said, it is based on the memories of the legion and in turn it is expressed that it is a cloudy day in its official trailer, in which if I do not agree, it is on the day or sunset of Crotus Prenn.

  • Okay, well if you wanna go ahead and get technical, then ANY light from the powered gens, or indoor lighting in buildings or on Indoor maps should be burning every killer 24/7. You should realize that the Entity can obviously make small changes to the places the Killers go to, so that only the flashlights burn them, so obviously, can make the killers resistant to the (probably fake) sunlight.

  • Wait ... People actually care this much about the lore?!

    Odd.

  • @Kebek said:

No, if anything we need more maps that aren't dark af. This is much welcomed change and brings further variety to DBD. I can finally enjoy something about corn maps.

Couldn't agree more! The corn maps will most likely become my new favorite map. It looks beautiful!

  • Devs are just low-key saying the game is dying.

  • If they're going to keep increasing light levels on these stages, I sure hope they fix scratch marks. Those things were created when the game was dark on every single stage. With all this ambient light, you can't see a friggin' thing. Survivors are going to be impossible to track.

  • Has it occurred to you the images are concept art? And dont represent the final design. The concept art is always lighter then the final result. Like when gas haven got re worked. New gas haven's brightness is fine. I'm fairly certain the same will be for coldwind. Take a chill pill.

  • OMG the lore!!!! OH no!!!!!!!!!! The game is ruined because the LORE!!!!!!!!!!!! OH NO

  • You know what? The game is so corrupted is beause of people like you. When we finally have a map with a new style, you are trying to ruin it, yo uare such a douchebag

One is still set in night, just in the light of moon, the other is set in between (which I also always found very wrong, but could partially deal with it, as it was never really a day. It was almost a day and it made up a good metaphor). This map is completely different story. Warm and bright light, I'm 99% sure there would even be sun.

""It was afraid of light and it literally destroys it"" "One is still set in night, just in the light of moon"

Ah, so we have someone just being butthurt over here.

If light literally destroys it, moonlight also would. Shining a flashlight anywhere on the map would harm it. Finishing any generator should turn that area extremely survivor sided as the generator turns on light in that area. The halloween medkits should literally hurt the entity wherever you move as it brightens up your area. Hex totems should harm the entity as it's literally a source of light. Campfires and hearths in the game should harm the entity.

Hmmmmm, seems like all sources of light are simply an illusion created by the entity. So why should this map be any ######### different?

  • Well honestly, a scorch summer heated fields sounds more creepy and scary to me than just a "night" map.

"The Entity makes the killers get harmed by the flashlights. It's all part of the game which is integral to the games lore. The Entity is harmed and fears real light, not light is has constructed. If the Entity feared all light, flashlights would not exist. Neither would the lights on the generators, nor the various flickering lights in the indoor maps.

Except it does fear the light of flashlights which are beyond Entity's control and the reason killers are hurt by the light is because they have power of the entity in them. The only reason flashlights don't do anything to the entity in trials is because bhvr didn't put effort into making it.

    Explain Lightborn.

We have had lighted areas/scenarios in horror games and movies before (Children of the Corn, some scenes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead, Predator, etc.), the Entity can create these scenarios for sure. If its a question of natural light- again, it makes its own light. If Killers are hurt by any light such as the Entity can be, what about the Red Stain? Light produced from Killer powers like Oni's rage, Deathslinger's muzzle flash, hell Ghostface's camera in his mori.

You're taking this way too seriously dude.

    Don't substitute the concepts please.

In any other game daylight wouldn't be an issue.

But in game where one of core things is that the day NEVER starts this is a huge issue and people ignoring it just don't care about the lore.

You know the lore also evolves right? There's no need tocbe stuck in night maps because new day doesn't start...survivors are trapped there, who cares about a day/night.

  • @Yords said:

Dead by Daylight = You are dead by the time daylight rises - This means that you can die in the morning or technically daytime, thus the game still makes sense with the title "Dead by daylight". This means that the name of the game still makes sense and fits.

Or, you are literally dead, by daylight - as in you are killed in the light of day. It still fits as 'by daylight' can refer to both a time period and a lighting condition. E.g. you could be Dead by Candlelight if you were killed in a powercut :-)

  • Ngl I just thought that it was the best render of the map they got.

I never expect the actual shipped result to be 1:1 the picture. But that's cuz I'm used to FFXIV photography and reshade filters lol.

I feel like its not gonna be that bright once it's in, but what do I know

  • You keep going on and on and on and on and on about lore. What lore evidence have you provided? Obviously I could go through the great book o lore and find my answer, but it would be better for you to tell me. What lore is it that you are referring to? Enlighten us, or endarken us if you're so scared of the light.

  • But I like having bright maps, it give more variety other than dark, darker, and darkest you know have a spectrum between

brightest, brighter, bright, middling, dark, darker, darkest so its easier to give each map their own lighting to make them feel unique in other ways

did you read the post or you just looked it through?

I don't care whether it is scary or not.

I'm disappointed because they destroyed the entire "entity fear bright light" concept and everything it meant. It would be ridiculous to get blinded by a flashlight in the light of a freaking sun.

If that's the case you should be able to save a surivor that is being lifted into the air with a flashlight. Man grow up 1 not everything is related to lore

2 as you have seen that is a realm made by the entity so its probably artificial

3 it 8s lore friendly btw Billy literally has a perk called light born makeing him immunity to light makes sense that Billy's map would be brighter than others.

Btw teachables so dont try the if that's the case every killer should be blind when playing on that realm.

Take a second to just think about yourself over how a farm might look like in real life, the coldwind is now in sunrise and glenvale is a sunset both are totally different so it does not make sense to make a farm sit in pure darkness unless you used to work at midnight farming with your parents so before you comment and make a threat use your common sense in every way and think of dbd's life, lore and nature of the maps. The developers take a ton of time to make this game better and we should be appericiating that and be thankful of it then complaining and crying about it like a ######### because its not you who's developing the game so you would not even know how much hard it is to develop a video game or make a change in maps as simple as just saying through words. Go and take a degree in video gaming

  • @ManyAchievables said:

The things people will complain about...

    Lol.

  • If the Entity replicates memories to make these realms, then maybe the sunlight is significant to Billy? Think about how he broke out of the room in the farm and saw the light, it was probably a major memory for him, but maybe I'm wrong lol ;w;

  • I agree with this guy. They need to stop adding bright maps, it does go against the name and lore of the game.

Besides, they need to rework maps that are broken, The Game and Freddy's maps got reworks but haddonfield is yet to be touched....

  • Have the devs themselves ever confirmed that the Entity is harmed by light? I'm pretty sure that theory became popular belief because a fan made a long essay on one of the forums claiming it must be true, and everyone liked it so the fans decided it was official lore.

Now these same fans are acting like the devs have broken the law by contradicting their own imagination.

  • Wow, you lore riders are something else.

Lmao if it's harmed by light Why did it make flashlights and make gens light up? If it's harmed by daylight?

  • @Mr_K said:

Devs are just low-key saying the game is dying.

    No.

  • It's not an excuse, it's an explanation for how the Entity works

  • Somebody actually cares about the lore in this game?

It's just gameplay stuff, the story ain't tolkien levels of rich or anything, it's not gonna be broken just because something is a bit outside of what they tell.

  • And the award for worst thread of the year goes to........

  • Hold on here, the entity constructs the realms from scratch (but certan aspects are wrong) Therefore it is light it created on its own, and it wont hurt the entity. Now stop whining about a goddamn map rework.

  • Seeing how all the dark maps have been practically black on switch they're so dark, I'm completely fine with a daylight set map that won't be so freaking dark and impossible to see on. Besides, like people have said, lore wise it still works because the Entity's is only effected by natural light otherwise no sort of light would be in the game and there definitely is. Also as others have said, the daytime would give survivors more hope to think that this will be their last trial and they'll finally escape for good.
