Idk why everyone is so obsessed with making every perk a token perk. So many suggestions to change older perks is "just give it limited tokens".

Honestly, don't care about what others did. I just came up with this during my day and decided to share it. Didn't have anything greater in mind.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/305860/a-rework-idea-for-2-annoying-and-outdated-perks

I like the idea behind your Adrenaline rework, but in reality it would just be an even more annoying dead hard.

For Noed, I feel like if you want a token based system, it should work like a perma blood warden until the hex is cleansed. This change however, wouldn't make it any less annoying and instead might encourage tunneling.

I don't see how my rework encourages tunneling since you need to hook a survivor for the first time to gain a token. Meaning you have hook a survivor that you haven't hooked before to gain a token, like BBQ.

    @GoshJosh said:

Adrenaline is fine because it rewards a survivor for doing their primary objective, only activates once, causes exhaustion, and might even have no effect or activate at all.

NOED is not fine how it is, nor is your idea to change it. It almost always rewards bad killers with extra downs and kills. I think it should be nerfed to still attach to a dull totem, but also be on a timer. Perhaps it could be based on number of hooks during the match and/or dull totems remaining. If you place NOED across multiple dull totems, you're just making it even more difficult to counter.

Adrenaline is not fine, mate. It's either a dead weight since you'll die before final gen or an overkill because you were already destroying that killer.

Also in my idea survivor needs to cleanse their own totem to get rid of their Exposed status. And if NOED would be infite blood warden, then why would we need blood warden?

  • @GannTM said:

Good god please no. That Adrenaline looks like it’ll be a nightmare to deal with.

Big Oof to you my friend.

  • @dugman said:

Personally I don’t have a problem with either of these perks currently. 🤷‍♂️

Me too I just think they're both outdated.

Adrenaline is either a dead weight or a f you to the losing killer.

    And NOED is just outdated.

  • @chargernick85 said:

When you use your last trap the chances are high 2-3 have already removed theirs so at best the one you just placed will become active.

Blocking 3-4 gens with the least progress? So the one that you need blocked don't get blocked and IF there are anymore with progress (I can't think of any trial where 5 gens had progress at once (Especially towards EG where this would probably activate).

Idk as much as I want NEW mechanics I have more faith I will hit the Mega Millions then new mechanics happening.

That's why you should choose very carefully when to activate it.

Also I said with the least progress so that you can instantly go and chase people of the last unblocked gen and maybe even camp.

What I was trying to go for is extreme high risk - high reward. But it seems I failed somewhere along the way.

And I dare call my self a Pig main...

I'm conflicted about having two game modes. On the one hand, IF -and only if- it worked as intended, it'd be great to help with the usual burnout. Feel like playing sweaty? Go to competitive mode. Want to chill for some games or try new builds? Go casual. In theory, it'd be great.

BUT knowing how things are, many competitive players that get frustrated when things don't go their way will end up joining the casual pool to ruin other people's fun.

That's where MMR comes into play. If they want to play sweaty in a casual mode they will be playing with people like them.

I very strongly disagree with the title as in my opinion MMR is not good for this game in the slightest in it's current implementation. I gave my opinion you gave yours.

Though I'm all for a separate ranked mode as you suggested. It's one of the many reasons I hate MMR/SBMM in many games that I partake in. Because you almost never have the option for a unranked mode. Maybe give it some incentives to be a high rank or up there in the leaderboards and a ranked mode with MMR could be very sweet.

That's what I've actually been asking of you, a great counter argument.

And I honestly agree with the points you're making.

  • @TheMadCat said:

I don't know. We could have a kind of event each month, as a separate mode. But it won't be a ranked mode. More or less a mode with restriction, like: you can only use the perks on the list for this mode. Nintendo does it with Pokémon. (I'm speaking about online battles, of course.) We had events which were a lot of fun with restriction, like: you can only use baby Pokémon. It's refreshing as you usually don't play these Pokémon online as you'll get destroyed most of the time. It lasts only a week-end usually, and you get a reward for participating (and I believe a reward if you reached a good place).

I don't think a ranked mode would work. "Sweaty" players won't go for it if they prefer the "casual" mode. I mean... The players you consider sweaty won't magically disappear from your lobbies if you choose the casual mode. Some of them won't be interested into a ranked mode, others won't consider themselves "sweaty" for trying to win with meta perks...

The idea is nice, but I don't see the theory being as cool as we think it should be.

Sweaty players would be at the top of the MMR rating as long as you're actually playing i. e. not chasing for kills or escapes but time well spent, sweaty players shouldn't be an issue.

I never weaponized fun, I just stated that balanced usually means more fun. Fun =/= balanced, which I agree with. Look at NOED for example, it's not fun, but it's balanced. Dead Hard is the polar opposite, it's fun to use, but it's far from being called balanced

That's actually examples of fun from survivor POV. From killer it's the opposite.

I use noed only on Twins as part of the endgame build, because I don't care about improving as them, so I get max of 6 hooks (if I get really lucky) and if survivors didn't do the bones it's not really my problem right?

And DH is really stupid and unfun as killer especially since validation was added.

that is BHVR‘s own fault. Community is asking for less content in terms of new characters and more game balance and health changes for a long time.

That's not really the fault of developers and more of a fault of the higher-ups in BHVR, wouldn't you agree?

  • @Marc_123 said:

There was a question in a survey if you would wait longer for ranked and/or unranked matches.

Maybe they are thinking of some kind of split.

The problem is, i don´t think they want to split the playerbase.

I think they should do it. MMR in its current state is almost perfect for casual matches, but extremely awful for competitive players.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

Also we shouldn't forget the tight deadlines that BHVR works in.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

Funny is that everyone saying there needs to be "ranked" mode, actually doesn't want to play it, just wants sweaty players to go there.

For this to work, you would need some massive rewards for rank and mainly: show your rank.

Otherwise, why would you do it? Everyone would keep playing normal with sweaty builds.

The devs don't like putting too much work into the game, it's why DbD is so unbalanced. If they just listened to the community and implemented the most needed changes, DbD would be way more balanced and fun

While listening to the community is a community is a good thing, devs shouldn't become their Puppet.

Also fun is subjective stop weaponizing this term to make your argument more compelling.

Fun and good game design is not the same.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2708500#Comment_2708500

Competitive mode won't work in a game like DbD, because it's boring. You'll only see tunnels, camps, Nurses and gens getting repaired in 5 minutes. If you add any precautions that will assure that none of these can happen, you just get a boring game of running around a Pallet, drop, hit and repeat twice per Survivor

But this happens now. Devs won't do anything about that because game is supposed to be casual.

If competitive mode to be added they would have to put more work into balancing and precautions against all that you've mentioned.

Why would people get punished by MMR just because they are trying to win?

Are they punished iff they're playing with people like them who want to win using any means necessary?

They're punished by a game design that is was created with a casual game in mind. So obviously it would have balance issues on the competitive front.

Why should the less casual part of the community be punished so the small, casual part can be entertained

That's why I said that there should be a competitive mode added?

Did you read my post fully or did you stop at one point because you think I'm dumb cuz I have a different to yours opinion?

Amazing, gonna take a long break from playing killers and starts making a silly builds as survivors

MMR is different for each killer, so you can make silly builds and play casually on killers that you don't care about improving.

  • I tried several times to come up with something, but I honestly have no idea what happens in their brains to do this. (I'm playing both sides)

  • Your honestly come off as a person blaming the game, because you yourself made a mistake.

Killer and perk wise Halloween is better than Nightmare On Elm Street.

Lol adrenaline doesn't remove "any chance". Ranged killers can attack right through it, and it only lasts 5 seconds, so you can catch up in 10. Just because an opponent's perk is inconvenient for you doesn't mean it needs a nerf.

NOED is one of the most toxic and unhealthy crutch perks in this game, so I can tell what side you main based off your comments lmao. I main killer and even I know it's a problem.

Also, nothing about this game is realistic to real life, they're perks in a game, not a true story film

Why are you getting salty, mate? I can't have my own opinion?

Most of the time you're not playing ranged killer, and even if you are, they can still dodge you. Plus I never said "any chance" I only said almost any chance. You can still down and camp someone, but it's hard to do in the endgame.

And although this game is widely unrealistic it can have some interesting form. You disregard my proposal for something realistic by saying this game is not realistic is just dumb. It's not the greatest trade off but it's something.

  • @Yui_TheBeauty said:

I think it's fine the way it is, your not gonna have it untill all generators are complete, it's basically like NOED, you will have 3 perks all game until endgame, but it's a high reward type of perk.

NOED is a second chance perk, while adrenaline removes almost any chance for killer. They are opposites to each other.

    @Tekno_Badger said:

Why on earth would you want to make a perk weak? Build diversity is bad enough as it is, on both sides. We need to be buffing the weak perks, not making more of them

It's a perk that does 1 thing in the entire match, and it's not OP by any means. There's a fair bit of strategy to it as well

I get it. Then I think it should give you deep wound if you get up from dying state. Cuz real adrenaline does not remove your wounds. But since it a game we can at least make it somewhat believable.

    Ehh, I wouldn't say that.

Once upon a time, Freddy was actually a cool killer. Badham has always sucked, though. And Quentin is kinda meh I guess.

In my opinion, Halloween is the worst licensed chapter, and Of Flesh and Mud is the worst original chapter.

Halloween is awesome. Shape is one of the best killer adaptations, and almost all perks are great. And map was a great horror movie set, awful in terms of balance, but awesome in details.

It's not the player's responsibility to ensure other people's enjoyment. However, it is the Developers responsibility to ensure every players enjoyment. And allowing one player to completely prevent another player from being able to play a game through camping/tunneling needs to be addressed by the Developers. Decisive Strike and Borrow Time, do not and have never, fixed this issue. Killer players are literally rewarded for using low-skill/no-skill yellow rank tactics and toxicity to ruin another players experience.

I think it's OK to camp tunnel if the game is over and you're losing hard, but not at the start of the game
