Cos all the survivors keep giving up on their first hook or DCing within 3 mins cos the game isn't going how they want, then the survivors that actually try are ######### cos we gotta do 5 gens and we've already lost 1 or 2 "teammates". I swear like 90% of games I play, some little ######### gives up at the start and ######### over the whole team. Killers don't need nerfing, survivors that give up need to ######### off and play something else.

I totally get what you're saying, but like you said, watch a scary movie 20 times it isn't scary, and that isn't even close to 100 hours. There's only so much variety one game can have, and I can't think of a single game that's still genuinely scary after 100 hours. But I do still jump if I set off a hag trap or get jumped by a crouching pig, if it happens before I know it's that killer. I know jump scares are cheap scares, but it's still something 700 hours in.

Unless I'm being camped, there's no reason to not get me before my second phase. Even while running kindred, I still almost died on first hook?? It makes the game super unfun when I'm dead on hook only a few minutes into a game.
Call me a bad teammate I don't care, the real bad teammates are the ones who let this happen to their other teammates every SINGLE trial. After my second phase on my FIRST hook, I'm 100% out of there. There's a big difference between getting caught a second time and then going into your second phase on hook than getting caught a second time and then immediately dying.
Unless the killer is face camping then I see no reason at all to let your teammates become dead on hook.
Please stop playing. Don't get me wrong, someone should always get you just before 2nd phase starts. But this game is full of pricks giving up on hook, and it just screws over the whole team. If you can't play in a team, don't play a team game.

I play both games solo, and I play them both with friends (sorry, I know we're not allowed to have friends). If someone tells you "X killed me" on among us, you've cheated for an instant victory screen, it's not fun for anyone including yourself, because while you technically "won" you didn't figure out #########, there is no sense of achievement at all. Among us is a game about deceit for the impostors, and deduction for the crewmates, by removing those elements you are cheating and the game has nothing else to it. DBD is a very different game, and one survivor saying "killer is X" doesn't instantly win the game, or negate anything the killer could do. Telling another survivor "the killer is at/near X" doesn't instantly win the game or negate anything the killer could do. On literally ANY online game, you'll get little groups of toxic shits, welcome to the internet. The way to deal with this isn't to just punish people that have friends, because that would OBVIOUSLY be ######### rediculous. Half the team's you DON'T complain about will probably be SWF, and a bunch of the "toxic SWFs" will just be good solo players. If you don't have the temperament for a game, don't play it.

Like i said, i keep playing killer but its mostly ruined because of massive SWF groups, they treat me like a joke and gen-rush me, it makes playing killer unfun sometimes and i feel we should be given the choice to play with SWF groups or not.
I have Aspergers and losing so badly to SWFs groups makes me feel very victimized.
There are times when i win, i don't always lose, but SWFs groups making fun of me still gets to me a bit.
Please, give people the option to cancel out SWF groups or do something to identify who is SWFs in the lobby or not.
I totally get where you're coming from, I'm slightly autistic, and I get really frustrated playing as killer sometimes. But 90% of the time I'm playing SWF with 1 or 2 friends. Like others have said, and like you've admitted yourself, the SWF deathsquads are pretty rare, and punishing survivors simply for wanting to play an online game with their friends is ludicrous. Every single online game I have ever played has players that are toxic little shits, the only way to avoid that is to not play online games at all. People suck mate, and people like you and me will always struggle to understand it. Try not to put pressure on yourself (easier said than done, I know), at the end of the day, you gotta focus on the fact it is just a game, and sometimes people are massive dicks for seemingly no reason.

They nerfed the forever Freddy add-ons, and then got rid of ruin as well. There is no forever Freddy.

This does make for an interesting game mode. 4-5 people go in all as their preferred killers and try to kill each other
But the playerbase would have to at least double or triple before a second game mode is even possible
Or if they added cross-platform maybe??

The other day I got 3 kills (although all 3 of them DC'd as I was putting them on their 3rd hook). They'd only completed 2 gens, and the last guy got the hatch, then started cussing me and saying "EZ"... Survivors are just [BAD WORD], and I say this as a survivor main (rank 6 surv, rank 15 killer)

Just because I'm not a professional chef doesn't mean I don't know how a steak dinner should taste like.
While I don't know how to program myself, I know several people who do. One of them being my brother, who I've seen work countless times and he talks to me about how he does things. So while I don't know the specifics about programming or how to code, I do know enough to have an understanding that changing a window on a single map in Unreal 4 if the game is programmed properly, let alone a few windows on a few maps, should not be hard to do and it should definitely not take 6 months map to do it.
So you do have knowledge of programming?? And thus, aren't talking out your ass?? For future reference, if you're trying to get a point across, and know what you're talking about, maybe don't say that you don't know what you're talking about?? Just a thought.

I work in programming and balancing video games, does that count?
Well yeah, obviously... The guy said "despite not having any programming knowledge" so I was calling them out on talking about something they don't understand, then they began talking about how theye actually do understand a fair bit. If it's your job, then I would assume/hope that you do have some knowledge on the subject. These forums are full of people talking [BAD WORD], so I thought they were one of them because they said that they were, what a fool I am...

Toolboxes are a symptom of a problem. They are not the actual problem though. You can alleviate your stuffy nose, but the stuffy nose is not the cold that is infecting your body. You can apply a band-aid over a bleeding wound, but that doesn't make the wound itself magically go away.
Closing up a singular window is not a map rework. Nor does it take months to do. I'm not a programmer by any means, but I've used Unreal Engine before for creating maps. Moving a window or closing it up literally takes 5 minutes to do. It's not hard. I'm not exaggerating. A single person can do it -- let alone an entire team of people. Repeat in 12 maps with problematic windows. Let's pick 12 maps at random in no particular order:
- Rancid Abattoir
- Groaning Storehouse
- Haddonfield (even though it's got like, 8 awful windows, but we're just picking 1 here)
- Grim Pantry
- Fractured Cowshed
- Wretched Shop
- Coal Tower
- Ironworks of Misery
- Torment Creek
- Disturbed Ward
- Suffocation Pit
- Mother's Dwelling
you fix 12 problematic windows in these 12 maps in an entire hour. That's 12 bad maps that are suddenly far less bad with just an hour of work and suddenly the game is much healthier. No entire map redesigns needed. Are they perfect still? No, of course not. But improved? Yes. Much yes.
When the time comes for a redesign, sure, redesign them. But to say "Well killers are just going to have to suffer for 6 years for us to rework 12 maps" is ridiculously unrealistic. A sinking ship doesn't stay afloat for that long.
If it takes them seriously 6 years for them to balance 12 maps instead of an hour, then they should hire me instead since I can apparently do it multiple times faster than them despite not having any programming knowledge.
"despite not having any programming knowledge"... So what you're saying is you are talking out of your [BAD WORD], and have admitted to having no idea what you're talking about?? Cool, thanks for clearing that up.

" I keep losing pips, I'm not red rank anymore and I'm sweating for 1 measly kill a game."
This reads like that you were not good enough for Red Ranks to begin with.
Sorry to the OP, because I don't like calling people out on their skill level (especially when mine is so low), but I gotta agree with Aven_Fallen (and others saying the same thing). Ruin didn't really affect semi-competent survivors, once you got a couple 100 hours in you get used to it, maybe miss the first check in a game, but then you know it's there and concentrate a little more. The ranking system is supposed to place good killers with good survivors and mediocre killers with mediocre survivors, if you can't get any kills without ruin, then you should be losing ranks so that you go against survivors of a similar skill level to yourself. I struggle getting kills without it, but that's cos I'm not very good at killer, and so I shouldn't be in red ranks cos I'm simply not good enough to be there. If there are 20 ranks, then red ranks (1-5) should be reserved for the top 25% of killers and survs, there's no shame in not being in the top 25%, the majority of players (75% according to my pro maths skills) won't be that good, nothing wrong with that.

Look for totem. But if I can't find and they're time is running out, find another survivor and try to:
A. get hook while they distract the killer
Or
B. Try to distract the killer while they get the hook.
More often than not I just end up dying instead of them though.
Also, you might be surprised to hear that SWF doesn't mean 4 [BAD WORD]s with torches using death squad tactics, it's possible to have friends that play the same game as you and not be a [BAD WORD].
-
Just feel I should state that I never camp or tunnel, and I will let people go if I find them again too quickly.

As a killer main that switched recently myself I hear this a lot. Simple fix. Stop bringing in all you tier 3 meta perks. Play without perks or addons. Give them a chance.
Don't camp nor tunnel. Not saying u do. But if you know your at a rank you shouldn't be give yourself a handicap.
Yeah, now that you've said that, it seems obvious, never occurred to me to change my build to something less powerful haha. I guess BBQ, Thana, pop, & nurse's calling is a bit OP for my rank :)
@HellDescent said:
You should double pip in low ranks and I think it's only 3 pips in each grey rank. So it shouldn't take you too long. And I think the lowest you can get is rank 17 with new rank reset.
Yeah I've been double-pipping, but I usually only play a couple of killer games a month (if that), cos I mainly swf (we don't use death-squad tactics or anything, we usually stay around rank 7 or 8). I was rank 16 last time I checked, but maybe that was before they added the limit (I feel kinda dumb now, knowing that I'm asking for a limit and apparently there already is one haha).

Like after hitting a survivor, they are exposed the rest of the match? That's a very big difference.
Nah I meant if they are exposed through NOED or whatever, then the hatchet should be one-bang as well. But that does sound interesting as well, like the hatchet did some serious damage and then you can just get one-shot for the rest of the match. (I'm a survivor main who occasionally plays as Freddy, so I probably haven't considered some things that may affect balance though).
-
Also, is this actually a thread where no one is whining, crying and insulting each other?!?! I didn't know threads like this existed.
-
She's the only killer that can still get a jump-scare on me and make me do a little wee in my pants after 500-600 hours. But I hardly ever see her :( , give her whatever buff is needed to make her more popular, put the fear back in me, it's what made me love this game in the first place.
-
I think they meant that the hatchets are affected by exposed instead of always being a one-bang. I kinda like this idea, but I think it would piss off a lot of huntress mains, and should probably be downgraded to purple rather than pink.

Then why is TRAPper the most-picked killer?
Possibly because of how many challenges there are for trapper in the archives. I never played trapper before the archives but I've played him quite a lot trying to complete the challenges. He seemed pretty popular before, but I've seen waaaaaaaay more trappers since the archives launched.
-
This game is inspired by slasher/horror movies, right?? Anyone here ever seen a slasher/horror movie?? All 4 of us should be struggling to survive and it should be pretty rare that all 4 of us make it out alive. These stats look good to me (absolutely a survivor main, I suck as killer). No killers need nerfing at this point, some could do with a slight buff.
-
I'm an ok survivor (rank 7 atm, never been higher than 5) and a really crap killer (rank 16 atm, highest I've gotten), and in both cases I have no issues with NOED. As survivor I always cleanse any totems I find, and as killer I usually get bullied by the survivors (again, I really suck as killer), so it's nice when they make the mistake of not cleansing totems and I get some payback.
-
Sometimes I wonder why I bother checking this forum with all the bitching and whining. Then I see threads like this and remember.
-
Yeah, don't you know that when you hook a survivor once you have to leave them alone for the rest of the game and let them win.
-
I know a tonne of survivors are toxic as [BAD WORD], but are you all pretending killers aren't?? Like 80% of the player base is super toxic with a heap of salt. Survivors DC if they get downed too early or just don't like the killer, screwing their teammates. And killers DC if they get looped or the gates open and they only hooked someone once, not to mention the camping and tunneling.
People. Suck.
-
It really screws over the survivor mains who aren't absolute [BAD WORD]s. 4 survivors can beat spirit (not easily, but still possible). But 2/3 survs with 5 gens against basically any killer that knows what they're doing is almost impossible. It's a TEAM game, if you can't be part of a team, then STOP [BAD WORD]ING PLAYING!!!
-
Bro, if they're crying about overcharge then they're "bad, can't play, noob" overcharge skill checks are easy, sometimes the first one will catch me off guard if I'm not expecting it, but doctors usually run it so I always expect it with them. I've never gotten higher than rank 6 so I'm not even a good survivor main, and I'm still saying this.
-
As a survivor main, I apologize for my idiotic kin-folk. I very rarely play killer, but when I do, I'm usually rocking NOED. Unless you stand there staring at the person on the hook (or with hillbilly/nurse stand and watch from a short distance) then you can't really do much wrong as killer. We try to live, you try to stop us, how you do that is entirely up to you. Perks are there for a reason, if it was unfair they'd have nerfed it by now (probably).
