  • Its cute seeing survivor mains or killer mains who think BHVR only screws over their preferred role.

  • @Desteriaa said:

Killer mains you got what you wanted congratulations…

Can’t wait to see the next perk to why you’re not getting 4ks consistently down / Wins. Wonder what you're gonna go after next… Maybe lithe Oh No it’s definitely gonna be Sb. Deadhard was fine and easily counterable but what the survivors say don’t matter because this game is killer sided!!!

Most killer mains weren’t even asking for another DH nerf.

Over the past few months, a lot of people have been claiming that tunneling in DbD is out of control, some would even say that tunneling is necessary to win games at high-level. Whether you agree with this assessment or not, isn’t the point of this discussion. Personally, I am of the idea that people should play the game however they want, and in some cases tunneling someone out of the game may be the only way to turn a game around. Now that being said, I think we can all agree that being tunneled out in early game with no recourse It’s pretty ######### and contributes to a lot of the toxicity. Tunneling may be a valid strategy but right now, there is no risk for the killer to do so.

Considering that a) killer is the easiest it’s ever been and b) there should be a risk for the immense reward you get for tunneling someone out, I think the solution is actually pretty simple:

Make DS (the old one with five seconds of stun) base kit, but only after the second unhook.

Back when DS was a thing, the loss of momentum from being hit with DS would be enough to make killers think twice before going for the unhooked survivor right away. Smart killers would down the person and leave them on the ground, which would still cause another survivor to have to come pick them up. However, in some situations it would still be beneficial for the killer to go for the unhooked person if it meant taking them out of the game, just like nowadays, except with a much higher risk. Also, if you enjoy tunneling, you’re free to do so after their first hook. Survivors on death hook tend to play a lot safer in general anyway. And if you’re a survivor who tries to use DS offensively, well, you’re dead. Win-win.

Now of course, I understand that this would be a strong change, but I think it can be tweaked in a way that it isn’t super scuffed. As a killer who rarely tunnels I don’t feel that this would affect me much. Making it after second hook would also mean that this is more of a mid-late game mechanic, which would allow killers to still build pressure in early game. I’m not sure if this would be too much paired with base kit unbreakable. What do you guys think? Decisive strike would have to be reworked, but that’d be a lot easier than creating a new mechanic.

With all due respect I do not think this is good for the games health. Penalizing killers for tunneling even more will not stop them. Giving survivors more freebies for making mistakes will not help the situation either.

I have to say, I strongly disagree.

Your proposed change up there takes away the strongest facet of this killer's lore- she's not a tragic victim, there's nothing pushing her to be this way, she's just a serial killer. A sadistic billionaire hunting people down for sport, getting a taste for it after furiously murdering someone who just blocked one of her corporate acquisitions. It's good for the game to have more uncomplicated villains, pure slashers who are hunting people for the sole reason that it gives them grim satisfaction and thrill.

I kind of get a Most Dangerous Game vibe from her, in a sense. The villain of that story hunts people simply because he's run out of challenging prey anywhere else, and he's portrayed straightforwardly as a sick, vile person with dehumanising and horrifying views towards the world. Adriana Imai isn't quite that far, but the idea of a rich person who gets off on hurting other people is a very classic horror concept- taking that away from her would make her fit less into the game, and that'd be a shame considering how well she fits as-is.

Not every killer has to be sympathetic, and I think honestly too many of them are at this point. Between Skull Merchant, Knight, and Dredge, I'm glad we're back to getting some just straight-up monsters to really excel in the Entity's realm.

I think I understand your point. Though I feel like we already have a killer that performs well in that kind of story. That killer being the Doctor. A remorseless psycho who is only interested in progress and experimentation. With no boundaries.

In terms of a killer that hunts for sport I’ve always seen DBD’s Ghostface already fitting into those shoes as well, and I think both Doctor and Ghostface’s stories are written well for the type of killer they’re supposed to be.

I also wouldn’t mind if The Skull Merchant was just a straight up serial killer. No explanation or clear motive. However, even her being that kind of killer the lore she has right now just doesn’t fit. Especially all of the manga stuff. In my opinion.

I’m glad you enjoyed her lore though. I would have loved a scenario where we could all enjoy it together.

Community: So what does the new killer do?

BHVR: Well they have these drones that scan an area and you can become stealthy inside them and after a while survivors become exposed if they're in range of the drone too long but then if they try to disarm them they get tagged and you get to know where they are wherever you want so you can be guarding area and chasing down survivors constantly as long as you setup correctly. Oh and then they have these add-ons they basically customize the drone letting you decide if you wanna focus on gen defense or chase more giving the killer multiple playstyles.

Community: BOOOOO! BAD! DELETE! WORST KILLER EVER! BOYCOTT DBD! Well what do these killers over here do?

    BHVR: Wesker and Blight?

    Community: Yeah

    BHVR: They move fast?

    Community: What else?

BHVR: No that's it they move fast. I mean Wesker has an infection meter but that's so easy to get rid of you won't notice it much so yeah mostly just moving fast.

    Community:

Thats an extremely simplistic way of interpreting her power. The concept of her power isn’t bad, its the actual stats and execution of it that make it horrible.

  • I personally believe that if the killer wants you out of the game badly enough it doesn’t matter how many BT’s, Decisive Strikes, or anything else that you throw at them. There are just some killers out there that are willing to sacrifice the victory to get that one kill.

  • I’m not entirely surprised that your games are going to end faster when they’re focused more on “fun” than “effectiveness”. Though I completely understand your frustration. The one of my biggest gripes with slowdown perks is when newer players aren’t given access to those perks straight away. Especially if they don’t want to buy the DLC to acquire them.

  • @LordSturm said:

I notice Unitology states "you lose a health state", but it doesn't state that it requires you to be healthy.

Which means as written, you could use it while injured and just down yourself, which sounds pretty funny. Given enough time, you could <sacrifice> yourself with this perk.

Unitology is probably in a fine state. Maybe. The 20 seconds you're incapacitated for is 20 seconds you could've been doing a gen, and 20 seconds of gen progress is more than the 17% you get from the perk, but of course it's an instant 17%, so it definitely has its uses. I'd probably make the Broken status last a bit longer, maybe 40 seconds, because with strong medkits or Circle of Healing, being injured isn't that much of a downside.

Skeptical Resistance is kind of lame because it majorly screws with a few killers like Doctor, and is totally worthless for the rest.

When you use Adaptive Engineering, do you keep the addons? If so it sounds pretty strong. Start the match with a regular toolbox, upgrade it to a Commodious, and then repair that commodious 3 times with built to last... Actually, now that I think about it, that probably isn't even any better than just starting with a commodious toolbox. You use a perk slot to get a full regular toolbox, but you lose half of the commodious in return, so I don't know if it actually really helps you that much.

Maybe you could rework it to give you a totally random item, but maybe guarantee higher rarity. That sounds like a fun perk.

For Unitology yes, if you use the perk while injured you will be put into the dying state.

For Skeptical Resistance it would be specifically designed to help counter The Necromorph, Doctor, Sadako, and Freddy, but the effects only work when within a close enough range. Plus you would have to be counting on one of them being the killer you face.

For Adaptive Engineering you do lose all the add ons from the depleted item.

Hope that clears some details up. I appreciate the feedback!

Unitology has greater thematic ties to converging, bringing together.

Also Isaac hates Unitology with a passion, the perk and it’s description should be more about separation if it involves Unitology.

As for the Effect, it’s another do gens faster Perk, but this time Isaac The Engineer hurts himself while fixing something?

Honestly Isaac could be the candidate for a Perk that allows you to create a Pallet (Likely needing to destroy a Totem for some kind of supplies).

    Skeptical Resistance:

Isaac is skeptical of Unitology, but gets fooled by The Marker.

What is special about him is he gets information from The Marker.

As for what the Perk does, it’s far too specialized a counter for a few Killers, given that illusionary effects are not a Perk category (yet), screwing over Doctor and Freddy.

Maybe allow him to see a rift only useable by the Perk user in the Trial? Interacting with it does something?

    Adaptive Engineering:

perhaps allow the player to consume Items to charge the Item they’re holding? With charges gained based on Item rarity and number of attached addons?

(While holding an Item while near another Pickuo prompt, you have the prompt to strip components?)

For the Untiology description it is in reference to the “secret ending” in the remake.

For Skeptical Resistance it is designed to counter killers like Freddy, Sadako, and Doctor, but it only counters their powers when the killer is within a close enough range. Plus you have to hope one of those three are the killer you play against. That was my thought process though.

  • @Chordyceps My main thought process was “sure I get 25% progress on a gen, but now I have to waste time healing and I can’t even do it right away”. Would lowering the progress percentage make it more fair? Maybe I should add the “incapacitated” status effect along with broken.

  • @burt0r I’m imagining it would be a similar process to Demogoron and his portals. If the survivors are in the middle of dismembering a corpse (similar to closing demos portals) and The Necromorph begins to teleport to them before they can finish, then the dismembering process is immediately canceled and the killer appears. If the corpse is destroyed before the killer begins teleporting they will not be able to teleport to that Marker until it spawns another corpse.

The teleportation action itself doesn’t take ten seconds to perform. It just takes 10 seconds to cool down. I hope it all makes sense.

  • @burt0r Noted. I suppose the percentage for Adaptive Engineering could be changed to like 50% or something? (Also I haven’t compared these to the other perks currently in the game so I could see some broken combos accidentally forming).

  • @CosmicParagon Yeah, my killer concept is pretty much a Doctor and Sadako hybrid. As for the perk “Twinkle Little Star” I wanted to specify that the killer will still be blinded in the process, the only catch is that the survivor will scream (giving away their position via audio) and be hindered. The perk doesn’t prevent blindness. I’ll change the wording though.

  • @Mr_K said:

You no longer depip down a grade and still not happy.

No longer depiping from a grade was a nice change that I am grateful for. However, just because a system was improved once doesn’t mean it can’t be improved even more. Criticism shouldn’t be discouraged.

This guy knows whats up. The HEAL SPEED WAS NEVER THE PROBLEM....... The fact that they made a BOON that HEALS is the real issue. Sorry but its just too broken. A 5th perk for every other Survivor that didn't bring it, and gigantic radius, and an infinite amount to place again and again and again and again and again and again. I say 3 strikes and your out. The Killer should Smash the Totem on the 3rd SNUFF!

I would take it a step further and have it destroyed on the 1st snuff. If killer Hex’s get taken out of the game after being destroyed the first time then so should boons.

I really do encourage you to see what it was like before EGC I get that it can be a boring moment in the game but the game is basically over at this point and you might get one more but I can hear the cries rising now.

I first joined the game when the Saw chapter released but yeah the game was definitely more rough even before that chapter. Especially with hatches. Perhaps its for the best we leave EGC as it is until the devs fix more pressuring matters. I really appreciate the feedback though!

NOED should not be base kit. DH, DS, BT should not be base kit. They are perks if you want NOED waste a perk slot. If you are tired of survivors t-bagging in gate walk away (both in game and IRL) if EGC has started the survivors will have to leave at a point or die. You do not get to have NOED because you have toxic people in the gate not fair. I assumed it was a joke to make it base kit. I never said they need to remove it.

Well my intention wasn’t to counter toxicity specifically (the t-bagging was just an example). As I’ve explained before my real motivation was to present an opportunity to make the End Game more exciting. I can see though that maybe something like the exposed status effect is a step to far. Idk it would just be nice to have something to raise the stakes.

  • @DriplordDrew said:

EGC is so survivors can't open the gates and just stay in the game. If you think the t-bagging is bad now while in the gate go back watch videos before it was introduced and you will see just how great it is. At least you know they will have to leave or you will get a kill either way the game will end. As for NOED becoming base kit in the EGC ummm.. lol April Fools right? Cause its got to be a prank you are pulling.

No its not an April Fools joke. I understand NOED would need to be changed or reworked for it to make sense. I just don’t see the devs completely removing it. Its not like them.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Very doubtful as BHVR has stated the entire point of EGC is just to force the game to end. It's not on the side of the killer or on the side of the survivor and designed to put pressure on either of them, it's designed to force the game to end

Savvy killers can use EGC to their advantage and try to use it to pressure survivors but that's not the function of EGC.

That’s understandable. The original concept wasn’t to give killer’s an advantage and that makes sense. My intention was just to find a way to make the end of the match a little more exciting. Even playing a survivor I don’t find myself taking the end game very seriously. Maybe its for the best it doesn’t get changed but eh a man can dream.

  • Fair enough.

  • Are you guys seriously complaining about the Circle of Healing change? Really?

In my personal opinion Circle of Healing gave the survivors way too much of an advantage. Even makes perks like self care less viable. The fact that changes would be made was inevitable.

  • Self Care is a pretty useless perk now.

  • Same goes for survivors. This isn’t a one way streak.

Focus on the character and not how many of them we have. Who cares? If the character is cool then it should be in the game

I don’t think you understood the point my post was trying to sell.

  • I don’t know how this will stand with the forums since I haven’t been around for long but I personally think killers aren’t as scary or intimidating as they should be.

When the end game hits there should be no time for dancing at the exit gates or goofing around. The end game should be tense and exhilarating.

Unpopular Opinion: NOED should be reworked into something different and the exposed status effect should automatically be applied when the exit gates op. Whether you have NOED or not.

  • DBD has always had camping and tunneling. No amount of nerfing or complaining is going to make it disappear. Its a annoying strategy for sure but its to be expected. Especially if the killer is losing the match very fast.

  • It depends on the situation. With all the baggage killer’s have to deal with already these days its not hard to understand why a killer might need to resort to camping or tunneling. If they have really bad luck or are up against a really good team sometimes they just have no choice.

Ghostface and Cannibal are iconic slashers, Pig is not iconic maybe but she is known killer and she has traps. What Nathan will bring to game? Which power?

Its “Negan”. I’d say if Negan was popular enough to join the Tekken franchise as a DLC he had a fair chance in this game. Definitely not as a anniversary chapter and I personally wouldn’t be interested in TWD as a chapter period but from an objective stand point it can’t be ruled out.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2873309#Comment_2873309

TWD has not epic killer, all of villains are human with weapons or braindead zombies. TWD can be survivor only chapter but this type chapter can not be at anniversary.

i have to disagree with that. Though I am personally not interested in TWD being a license thats not to say it couldn’t be one. We have plenty of human killers in the game already with no supernatural powers (Ghostface, The Pig, The Cannibal, etc).

  • The Thing

  • Well a coincidence implies that it was accidental. I get the gist of what you’re trying convey though.

I mean BHVR can be very cryptic at times and then they can be very blunt. For Nemesis they straight up announced a Resident Evil chapter months in advance and then for Pyramid Head the anniversary logo was a big hint. Same goes for the third year anniversary.

So the chances of FNAF appearing are 50/50 in my eyes.

  • I believe The Shape deserves a tome. He was one of the earliest DLC’s for this game and he has a movie coming out in the near future

  • The game was much worse back then, yes. As others have already stated though just because the game was worse back then doesn’t mean it doesn’t have issues worth complaining about now.

It is healthy for a community to point out discrepancies and problems in a product. Especially one that heavily relies on balance and moderation. Of course said complaints should be addressed in a diplomatic manner but a community complaining about stuff in the game is not only sometimes necessary but also completely expected. This is not exclusive to the DBD community.

FNaF and Jason are not only one. I saw so much requests for Alien, Chucky, Pennywise either.

I think Alien might be difficult to request only because they will need permission from Disney to use the license. For Pennywise I’m not sure if Steven King has let any video game company use any of his characters yet. Chucky I don’t know enough about the license so I’d say sure on that one.

  • Leatherface does not need a nerf. Either you just had really bad luck or you just didn’t play that well for those particular matches.

Removing a killer though for tunneling or facecamping is an extremely exaggerated “solution”. Lets be realistic about what BHVR should focus their time on.

  • In my opinion the anniversary chapter could go either way. I think there is a fair chance it is FNAF only due to popular demand. I understand characters like Jason are also highly requested but the problem is acquiring permission to use the license.

  • Don’t take this the wrong way but I personally don’t think representation/inclusivity should be a huge priority for BHVR right now. I personally welcome the LGBTQ community with open arms with this game (along with many other communities) but at least from my perspective the sexuality/gender of a character/survivor shouldn’t feel forced or even relevant. BHVR’s focus should just be making fun/balanced killers and survivor characters.

  • I honestly don’t think the amount of pallets are the issue (I don’t play the game very often so take this from a once in a blue moon player’s perspective). At least not yet. I think it just might be the placement of them.

Would be nice if pallets don’t spawn in the same spot every match. So pro players can’t just memorize where every single one is. Making games more unpredictable.

  • If I’m actually trying to win then no. Listening to music in a game where sound can make or break chases is a huge disadvantage.

  • I don’t see any scenario where COH is removed. I do believe it requires a major nerf though.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Catered? There's been nothing but survivor nerfs for as long as I can remember.

Killers on the other hand: Nothing but buffs. More buffs coming.

Thats a very delusional yet unsurprising thing to see coming from you. You’ve always been a survivor extremist.

  • If it is in the game there is no “wrong” play style. You are a killer. Not a babysitter. You are not obligated to show mercy to survivors no matter what play style you choose. Winning is winning.
