  • I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.

Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

  • Who even uses Linux anymore

Just about every decent server out there including google and facebook.

I work with it daily. As in I earn money with it.

  • See that's a big issue for many people in the Dead By Daylight community.

Falsely assuming that the other side must necessarily be mad.

  • #include <stdio.h>
    int main(void){
    printf("No\n");
    return 0;
    }

    Dollar store Fredrik.

The "We have Freddy at home" Freddy.

  • Critique is so bad now

that is it, bash fest and not much constructive criticism. People are complaining within the confines to complain, can't blame them, its just really unproductive.

  • I'm not going to elaborate any further, I've made my point. You can stop asking, thank you.

Sorry but what the hell is this garbage?! Survivors already got a buff with the activity HUD and now it get's buffed?! Sorry but no one can tell me the devs are not survivor sided.

As a killer main I have to say that I am not surprised, I am not agitated, I am not even mildly excited.

I don't see how a smol progress bar will stop me from enjoying the game as killer.

As a soloQQ survivor, all this does is make me painfully aware of what was obvious all along.

As a killer I have been dealing with this and even way, WAY worse things all these years before this update.

tl;dr you're not good enough to complain about balance

  • I have never witnessed a more competent team of designers and coders in all of my life and my long years working in and around the IT sector. Outstanding work worthy of a standing ovation.

and ? however, it doesn't negate the fact that swf get unfair advantages when they call together (e.g. many aura reading perks for free) and the thing is regardless of what bhvr says, can't you think and judge for yourself? xD for me it feels like when bhvr says: "What we do and say is always right!" a few people from the community (you seem to be part of it too): "bhvr is always right no matter what you say, because i don't have my own opinion and can't think for myself"

The thing is, that you don't know which team is a SWF unless you are using knowledge obtained from a 3rd party.

Since you also do not know any of the players and their overall real standing in the mmr you have no real way of knowing how the player usually plays, how the player plays in a particular situation as well as why he is making certain plays.

You cannot quantify the VC argument because you don't have any worthwhile data. And no

can't you think and judge for yourself

    is not an argument.

As explained by me beforehand, top level players do not require VC to play well because every individual has properly adjusted gamesense, map knowledge, killer knowledge, knowledge of common strategies and tactics, etc.

On the other hand, good killers can still win against the strongest of teams. Observe killer players on win streaks. How do you explain those? You haven't addressed so many things. Again, you're not making any arguments here. You just barge in, call everybody an idiot and pretend you have it all figured out.

  • toVCorNotToVC.jpg

Here I made a graph for you so you can better understand why VC will literally bring no meaningful changes to team efficiency.

Top players already know how to play and if all 4 of them play correctly they will win the majority of their games.

Decent players can somewhat coordinate a bit better but that's it. If even just one guy in the group sucks at looping and the killer senses it you're already in trouble, VC or not.

Casuals do not get any benefits from VC since their skill level indicates that there are some things they are good at, some things they are bad at. No amount of VC will either make them better or enhance their fun playing the game.

Now let's see Paul Allen's graph.

  • I am not addressing you directly because I am not only talking to you.

You have yet to make one single coherent point besides stating your opinion on the matter.

Not everybody takes this game as serious as you seemingly do. I sure as hell do not ever want to converse with anyone here over coms. I just don't care. Drop your mmr if you feel like games are getting too tough for you.

I play often and I have no such complaints. Either when playing killer or soloQ survivor.

  • What makes you believe that I want to hear you breathe heavily into a dollar store mic while telling me exactly how my mother feels from the inside after I come home from a hard day of work and just want to play a few chill games.

At least tell me that I don't have to hear that as killer.

    Dont take it personal but;

No doubt that they need any 3nd party softwares for playing this game and enjoy with friends, furthermore they also no need play this game for talking with friends :D

    what

  • I'm a killer main and coms are not that strong. If 4 people can loop well it's gg no matter if they have coms or not.

  • My guy, in 5 years of playing this game I have not used coms even once.

But people maybe use coms because, idk, they enjoy talking with their friends while they play together? Wild, I know.

  • Because every swf is a pretend comp team and you only face those. There's also no way to control your mmr to get the kind of games you want. What a predicament.

Coms are not the issue. The issue is that you either don't know how to pick your fights or you're just not as good as them.

Coms don't help you if you're bad. So coms cannot be what you complain about. I think this is why they brought bots into the custom lobby. You should consider giving that a try sometime.

  • So your only argument for implementing voice chat is "because everyone else does it".

The day they add this is the day I legit quit this game for good.

You know it's literally impossible to prevent third party communication, right?

  • I think he's just mad he has nobody to swf with. Give him some love, guys.

  • They have already improved the survivor hud with plenty of info. What else do you need? Killer that can't move? Gens that get done in a single m1 click? What do you want? I'm legit curious.

Some people are making it seem as if you need gen regression to win games, do you even know what thread you're on?

Also win condition from what I can tell is a 3 or 4k, 2k is a tie and anything else is a loss. That seems to be the general consensus

    You didn't understand my question.

You are making grossly overgeneralized statements while selling them as an absolute.

Not only will you rub up against people but also achieve mothing with it. Nobody can learn from your knowledge because it's presented in a nonsensical way.

I mean its not necessarily their fault either, they have limitations that are completely out of their control but theyre also making it seem as if thats the norm

Gen regression definitely helps out, and theres no problem with running it. But is it necessary to win your games? Absolutely not

    Necessary for who?

Also what is the win condition here?

I have 5k hours, I do just fine the majority of the time with either no or very little gen regression.

Killers have a lot more freedom than they think, just need to put in the time

If I could get a dollar for every meaningless post made on this forum I wouldn't have to work a day in my life.

But the whole point of my idea is the 1000's of 'Let us give up when slugged' comments Survivors make. Alongside 'The match should just end when we are all slugged'.

This does exactly that. If the bubba was going to slug; he's going to slug. This just lets Survivors get out faster instead of, and I quote from some 'Staring at my character bleeding out for 2 minutes'.

I'm starting to like the idea. This definitely maximizes the Depip-per-hour quota I'm trying to go for.

This in turn will enable me to proxy-shitpost because the amount of threads complaining about pips will skyrocket.

    Read my post again, please.

I said: IF EVERY LIVING SURVIVOR IS SLUGGED WITHOUT PERKS TO GET UP.

Tell me; How has the Killer not won at that point? They can't get up, and no one else is up or alive. It's no different from when every living Survivor is hooked, and they insta-die.

'They might have D. Strike!' Yes, and:

    1. They have not used it by now, so they messed up and
    2. The Killer is slugging, so it won't come into play anyways.

So, once again; Reread my post, and then tell me how my idea in any way forces pickups or whatever other thing you screamed about that in no way applied to my idea.

    I'll help:

If every LIVING Survivor is slugged, and lacks any way to get back up on their own, they will insta-bleed out in 20 seconds, so long as they are not being picked up by the Killer (for hooks, and D. Strike chances), or moving around.

    Why 20 seconds?

    • This gives the Killer time to find and pick people up, so they are not denied hooks. This also allows Survivors to wriggle free, use D. Strike, and such, if they are picked up.

    Why no movment?

    • This prevents Survivors from just crawling away to deny the Killer hooks.

Each time a Killer picks someone up, the timer is reset for everyone (again; to allow the Killer time to find and hook people). And since the wriggle meter fills every time a Killer drops someone; they can't even spam pickup/drops to cheat the timer.

Ok that's easy then I spend an entire day just playing slug bubba, ending games extremely quickly, making everyone depip because why not.

  • Simply because I want to treat this as a bully simulator.

Yeah you did the skillful thing and got me with your instadown power, but I pressed E at the right moment and you get to pay for it.

Guess what? Me and my homies are going to press E on every swing you take. Say hello to a potential 12 health states per down.

Watch out for the flashlights and body blocks though. Oh your hook got sabotaged and you can't make it to the next hook?

What about it? Don't you have a gen or two to apply pressure to?

  • @versacefeng said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305194#Comment_3305194

Part of it isn’t a skill issue and OP never said all blights and nurse players are “super good”. If you read the title you’d know they clearly stated if the player was decent at the killer.

What does decent mean? Since we have no idea how mmr works and where we stand in relation to everyone else in the match we cannot possibly form any coherent idea of what this "decent" even means.

There is a definite difference between really good soloQ players and ones that are not.

Just like you won't be facing an elder-god nurse player every game, you won't get a team that plays well together.

it's not a 1v1. If you play this game as a 1v1 at any point in time you are doing it wrong and you will lose versus a decent nurse.

Now, if your mmr is garbage you can't expect teammates with a good mmr rating. That would simply be unfair for those players who have it. And at low mmr players usually have no sense of a 1v4, they mostly see a 1v1 and even then often don't have the skill to extend chases in a meaningful way.

Again, we cannot quantify what OPs mystical "decent" means so any discussion is bogus in the first place.

  • @Stabby_Widdershins said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305123#Comment_3305123

Uhh..You DID see where I said this mechanic only kicks in if everyone living is slugged?

IE: The Killer has already won. What 'pressure' is there to build? Why is the Killer being 'forced' to pick people up, when he HAS ALREADY WON?

My idea only kicks in IF EVERYONE LIVING IS SLUGGED (or hooked & slugged in any combination), and they lack any perks to get up. At that point: The Killer has won.

No, at that point the killer has not won. Are we talking about some bottom of the barrel mmr? The game is over when the game over screen appears.

    @TealJade said:

I think they are equally damaging, as the game could only be 'relatively' balanced when it's a 1v4.

Imagine a rando being slugged, and you got in chase and can't pick up, 2 other randos can't be bothered to pick up the slug, the slug gave up or disconnected, it became a 1v3 and it's not even your fault. Can we say the outcome of this situation is similar to people suicide on hook?

My question is why killers are allowed to bleed people to death unnecessarily without being punished.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305185#Comment_3305185

I play this game since 2018 and I don't think I have ever slugged for 90 seconds for no reason without getting 2 downs.

By that point at the very least one gen pops and the game is progressing. What if then somebody goes for the heal? Theoretically, a 4 man escape is still possible. If the killer slugs for 90 seconds without getting anything out of it and you still lose, then it's a skill issue.

At this point we are getting into scenarios that occur once in a blue moon in real gameplay.

  • If you treat the game as a 1v1 then yes. If you actually play as a team then no.

  • @TealJade said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305155#Comment_3305155

I honestly still believe instead of adding new mechanics to the game, that would possibly create other loopholes to exploit, it's way more effective to ban the offenders, as long as evidences are provide.

Generally I agree but I don't see how a "give up" function after 90 seconds uninterrupted slugging can be exploited at all. At any rate, suicide on hook is far, far more problematic.

  • @TealJade said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3305123#Comment_3305123

I think most people agree slugging could be a strategy to win. But here I'd like to focus on unnecessarily bleed survivors to death/trolling/griefing.

I play killers too, and I don't really want unbreakable base kit to happen.

20 seconds death time is whack tho. That makes no sense. Enable the option to "Give up" after being slugged for uninterrupted 90 seconds.

That's long enough to say hey, you've had your chance to hook/heal, things aren't looking good, you wanna give up?

90 second slugs happen rarely unless the killer really wants to slug. Nobody is forced out but everybody has the option to just give up after plenty of time for the rest of the lobby to act on the situation.

  • @Stabby_Widdershins said:

Honestly, if all living Survivors are down and have no get-up perks; after 20 seconds of no one being picked up or moving; it should count it as dead and just kill them.

    Why 20 seconds?

    • This gives the Killer time to find and pick people up, so they are not denied hooks.

    Why no movment?

    • This prevents Survivors from just crawling away to deny the Killer hooks.

Yeah let's just throw one way of building pressure as a killer out the window because a couple of people are not entertained enough every once in a while. Let's force pick ups, I'm sure that's not exploitable in any way. Also along with that make a couple of perks useless just like most of them already are. Nobody plays them anyways so nobody will notice.

Body block with otr or bt and force the DS because lol if you don't pick up you lose. So make sure not to tunnel. Or camp. Or actually disturb any survivor doing anything whatsoever. Let's make original DS basekit too, along with O³ because it's really annoying when I am trying to loop the baby killer and he keeps downing me for no reason (lag, hitboxes or cheats mostly)

With the question as to "details what I don't enjoy about these maps" you're not going to get any satisfying answers because quite a lot of things would have to be put in perspective first in order to even get to the general ballpark of what feels wrong about them.

It's like asking "why do you not like chocolate icecream?" Well because I don't like it, how in-depth you want me to go with this?

Perhaps it is a really good question begging for an answer from the mind behind the map designs.

Didn't seem like he needed any slowdown perks. He just kept chasing the guy until the gens popped because he didn't protect them. lol

And how exactly would you protect 5 gens spread out on a map that takes the average m1 killer 30 seconds to traverse?

Ideally as soon as you leave this one survivor he will stick to the first best gen he finds. Guide me through your math here.

  • @IronKnight55 said:

Feel invited to read the thread.

  • @RainehDaze said:

So, here I am, with BBQ/Lethal Pursuer/Shadowborn/Nowhere to Hide, and I spawn into Lery's. The game actually goes pretty well--get two Survivors out, two gens still to go. Possibly too well, as most of the map's pallets are still around.

Commence holding W from pallet to pallet after one of the survivors for long enough that the other one completes the two gens. He couldn't make it to the exit gate in time, even with DH as health state #3, but just think about that

In a game that went well with no slowdown, mindlessly running from pallet to pallet still bought a guy somewhere around 2-3 minutes, if not a bit longer with hook times. If it went any worse, running aura reading for fun wouldn't work (and that was hardly fun, either, just 'follow the blood').

I even have to run PainRes/DMS on Nurse because depending on map I literally cannot kill fast enough to keep up with the gens popping. Even when I am literally on a survivor at all times. There is no way in hell you could do it with a D Tier killer.

The combination of match making and map design is making this virtually unplayable. I'm at a point where I have to start sweating with a nurse to get a 2k while on the other hand I get Free-To-Play-Weekend Andies who can't even look back while running when I play Killers that I play rarely.

We're nowhere near a decent solution for Matchmaking and to me personally, BHVR doesn't look and sound like they know how to handle this situation. Therefore I wouldn't count on any of this getting better at all in the next 2 years. IMO BHVR opened a can of worms.

  • end up with pet survivors I now feel I cant kill
