I don't know what it needs but I agree—the end game needs to change.

As a survivor, getting hook-camped on my first hooking and being helpless is miserable. It's amazing when a group of randos rescue me, but it's infuriating when they abandon me, especially when I was the highest perormer in the match. I hate that I can't make any choices.

As a killer, I usually don't camp but that tends to costs me, but camping is so lame and boring. I don't really know what to do as killer in endgame.

Miserable? It lasts a couple of minutes and if you're that upset about it, you're free to DC.

I don't see anything here addressing SWFs doing gens too quickly and making the game a miserable waste of time for killers, why is that? Why do survs need their hands held even more than it is already?

  • Complete and utter horsesh*t of a patch. What an absolute disaster. Whoever came up with this crap, you should fire them.

  • So if I get three unique hooks and on the third hook the other survs allowed their teammate to progress to the second hook state before unhooking - a complete and utter misplay - now I'm penalized as a killer if I go ahead re-hook that player and put them out of the game? I get penalized as a killer because the survivor team I was playing against made a huge mistake that should rightfully cause them to lose them game?

This is utter horsesh*t. Just let all survs unhook and fully heal themselves basekit if this is the BS you're going to do to the game.

  • "Honestly, banger of a patch. "

Stopped reading that gigantic mountain of trash right there.

If someone gets hooked twice in a row and dies, gens can no longer be blocked or regressed? And you think that's healthy for the game?

    Utter insanity.

  • @RFSa09 said:

These are very good changes, slugging will not be gutted as a strategy, but the boring part is kinda gone now

    Funniest comment yet.

    These changes are absolute insanity.

  • Yeah that fixed it. So stupid. BHVR stop resetting stuff during patches.

  • In case you're wondering, yes this does make the game utterly unplayable for me.

  • I play killer and can confirm that inverted y-axis mouse look is completely broken. Patch defaulted to resetting it to "off" but when I turned it on, it stays off in-game.

  • There is plenty BHVR can do about it. Overwatch/Blizzard has implemented a system that has drastically reduced the amount of toxic in-game chat. You'll even get automatically timed out if enough reports are filed by other players about you within a certain period of time. You can appeal the reports so there is a modicum of recourse for trolling as well.

Actually enforcing the stated rules about toxic chat would be a good first start. There is no transparency to any of BHVRs enforcement, you just have to take their word they actually enforced the rules, and the way this stops is if people are certain they're going to face consequences for acting like gutter trash.

  • When the "bad side of the things" outweighs the "hey I had a wholesome moment" by a factor of 1000 to 1, it's an extremely easy decision to make.

  • Hopefully you'll excuse me for not really caring about the odd "wholesome moment" when a member of this community got butt hurt about losing a game and told me he hopes I have to watch my children die.

I've been playing this game since 2019 and I can count on no more than two hands how many times I've had decent post-game interactions with people. There aren't enough hands on the world to count the toxic interactions. The scales are in no way even there.

  • Yeah thanks Mooks I know that. That in no way excuses this deplorable behavior. Fact is post-game chat serves no constructive purpose whatsoever and it needs to be removed entirely from the game. This community is toxic, has always been that way, and post-game chat contributes to ensuring it stays that way.

    KILL SWITCH lockers ...

That would break more than one killer and a dozen or more perks. Killswitch flashlights.

  • @CaulDrohn said:

Just had that on Mcmillan with 3 ppl doing it. The fourth afked and then dced, the bot doing all the gens. Without it, they would not have got out, bc all three of them hiding inside the shack lockers.

Honestly, if you require a flashlight for this, than flashlights should be killswitched. If some killer had such an abusable bug, they would have been kill switched right away.

As long as flashlights are not killswitched or the bug is not fixed, I will consequently dodge lobbies with more than one flashy now!

I'm dodging all lobbies with flashlights until this is fixed.

I couldn´t hit her, i couldn´t open the locker. But she could move freely and leave.

You should absolutely report it, it's a deliberate use of a bug to ruin the game for everyone.

  • Also, screenshot this every time it happens, and report the offending players for cheating. They all deserve to be permanently banned for this.

Make an in-game report for cheating, and then you MUST follow this link for a formal out-of-game follow up report. Fill in every field as much as you are able to make sure the offenders are punished.

Ran into this tonight - 2 matches in a row. Second match surv who was doing it said they just had it done to them. This is going to drive killers to play survivor, and those of us who want to actually play are just going to keep dodging and eventually stop playing. I think this bug is making the game unplayable - the killers who are getting this used against them are the ones getting punished immediately (matchmaking timeout), and the survivors are just having a field day.

I'm off to play Civ (or something) until this is fixed.

Yep, this is a hard stop for the game that needs an immediate hotfix. Makes the game unplayable for killer, and the glitch doesn't appear to be contained to either a single map or a single locker on a map.

  • Noticed this twice in two games just now.

  • Think of it this way: A plumber with 20 years experience is almost certainly going to be more skilled at plumbing than a plumber who just graduated from trade school and got their license.

What you're arguing flies in the face of common sense and nobody makes this argument outside of video games. Because it's utterly foolish and everyone knows it. The correlation isn't 1:1, nobody's arguing that, but to argue an utter lack of correlation between time played and player skill is nonsense.

I'm not even trying to "learn Huntress," I'm just taking her to P3 and maybe never touching her again. That's got nothing to do with what's going on here.

It's patently absurd on its face that this is the way matchmaking works. Everyone knows MMR doesn't work, and MMR should't even carry between Killers the way it currently does. Several of them play so differently from each other that the baseline player skill set might not even matter from one to the next.

  • Uh huh yes please tell me how more how there's no skill gap here. Such a dumb thing to argue. Someone with over 1K hours playing the same character is going to better than me with two games under my belt with a killer that's not easy to play.

Never fails that the "time played has no correlation whatsoever to a player's ability" crowd is trampling each other to see how quickly they can opine with the same demonstrably false nonsense.

There is no other discipline, sport, or pastime where people argue this straight donkeybrain foolishness.

  • Hooking the Vittorio did not increment the hook action meter, but hooking AM Sonic did. Both were on death hooks at the time this screengrab was taken.

All I'm proving is that you think this is some kind of war where only one side is to blame.

    But well...

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  • @ShyPirate said:

Correlation does not imply causation. On average more time in game will lead to higher skill, but it's not a guarantee. A player with 3000 hours is not for certain better than a player with 100.

Also, whether or not it should, time played does not currently factor into matchmaking.

Lastly, the two survivors with prestige levels in the 40s are likely hackers of some kind. The only way to have a prestige level that high this soon after the update is to have earned at least 4 million bloodpoints every day since the new system went into place. I suppose it's doable but I'm skeptical.

    All good, I ducked anyway.

Comparing a video game to a skilled trade...

I don't think I'm the one they'd be laughing at with that one. You could play 10k hours and be just as good or bad as someone with 500.

    It's DbD

Just stop. Time + experience is always going to create skill that will vary in magnitude by person. To argue otherwise is utter foolishness.

Do people want MMR to work properly though? I thought most people preferred MMR to be turned off because they viewed the game as more of a party game than a competitive one. Now I want to see a forum poll discussion of whether they prefer a fully working MMR or none at all.

I'd like it to work as advertised, or to be removed completely.

If you're truly being sarcastic then ignore the rest of what I'm about to say.

Sure, it doesn't correlate in that it's not a 1:1 thing for every person but generally speaking it's safe to conclude that a more experienced person is going to be better than a less experienced person.

it's shocking how little I'm paired against survs less than P9. Almost never happens.

  • You realize all you're doing right now is proving my arguments about survs to be right, right?

    Please, keep going.

Guess you hit people in the hook then because it feels as if I hit a nerve...

LOL why would I do that? It's a complete waste of time.

Guess you teabag in the most toxic way possible, it feels as if I hit a nerve.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

The grind sucks, the amount of BP earned feels awful. The WGLF/BBQ stacks should have definitely been made basekit. For people who used those perks, it felt very rewarding to earn stacks. It was an integral part of gameplay to me.

This. I'm currently leveling Oni, got to level 25 before I just had to quit. Lack of add ons and sacrifices to boost BP gains and no perks to do it now is awful. Getting a hotly-contested 4K and walking away with 32K BPs where before I could easily rely on 50-60K is a terrible experience.

I don't buy that the grind time has been reduced by 75%, it's just been re-arranged.

  • Let me tell you how much fun it is grinding a high-difficulty killer from no-prestige level 1.

I'd rather stab myself in the eyeballs.

  • @Gorgonia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3105250#Comment_3105250

Or... "I want you to hook me and stop hitting me on hook when you're the first person you find", or "I want you to allow for my to progress in a way where I can make points and you can also make points by hooking someeone else", etc etc

Cool story. I'd love for lone survivor survs to stop teabagging despite barely escaping alive because it's hyper-toxic dioucebaggery, but I'm an adult and know it's not going to happen so I ignore it. Because I'm an adult.

So when you can come up with a definition all your survkind can embrace that includes "not whining about hatch" and "no more 4K shaming" then I can get onboard.

Until then, you all may go fly a kite.

  • @fussy said:

Btw, he has a cheaters in match rn again, after his 15m penalty

The state of this game is absolutely unacceptable.

  • @Gorgonia said:

"Current killer behavior" and "reasonable/non-toxic/good sportsmanship" cannot be mentioned in the same sentence anymore. Most of the killers in game want to make sure you understand that clearly.

They have been buffed, which is great, but they use this fair advantage to make the other side miserable if possible. It's not about winning but about bullying.

Yeah except that "good sportsmanship" isn't a defined term, and always varies depending on who's playing the game. I get salty surv tears almost every game, no matter what I do, without exception.

So as far as I can tell, when survs want "good sportsmanship" what they really mean is "I want you to let me win."

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3105088#Comment_3105088

Yes, but they did it wrong.

Say, for example, instead of buffing the base-kit, they could have buffed the specific perks that affect them: Brutal Strength, Fire Up, STBFL and leave Ruin and BBQ alone.

That way, you get the intended effect of giving stronger tools for the killers, but you make sure they have to give a perk slot for it, preventing the possibility of a fully stacked slowdown build.

This is just a suggestion, but what am I saying is that there were better ways to do it that don't make the game boring.

If you think the issue is the way survs were intentionally caused to have increased death rates is the issue rather than just the fact that the death rates are increased, I don't know how to have a conversation on this topic with you. The whining we're observing would be happening regardless if how the increased death rates were caused.

It helps. I've kept track of some of the stains I've reported and they got a ban.

Some streamers are keeping track too and showed the bans.

It's just not very practical to use.

That's for sure, the reporting process is a huge pain the backside.

  • Video helps.

I'm not convinced the reporting matters at all though, there's not transparency on action take from the BHVR side and they haven't addressed the issue to the community in a spirit of transparency, either.

So as far as I can tell, the reporting is a gigantic waste of time.

  • Streamer finally DCd after 45 mins of being held hostage and still had to eat a timeout. His ability to stream DbD is being destroyed in real time. Fix this crap now.

Supposedly not being able to balance around Solo Queue is no excuse for bad behavior which, bad news bears, it is mostly coming from killers this time. If the situation was reversed, you bet I would be saying the same to Survivors. But it isn't.

And, again, killers were NOT getting the greasy end of the stick. You point out DS and OoO taking a bit of time to change, but you forget SEVERAL changes that came before you time, and mine, as a matter of fact. Those two perks as you knew them are nowhere near close to the level of power some killers had available for them, and I am not saying those things HAD to be nerfed or buffed or adjusted. I don't handle changes well. All I am saying is that the situation for killers was not as bad as you are saying. It hasn't been for years.

And yes, the developers weren't happy with the kill rates. But they have chosen a bad way to fix that.

Your intention is not bad, but you are doing it the wrong way. You want to be a voice of reason? Then you have call out Survivors who are generalizing AND killers who are trolling and being defensive. Toxicity goes both ways, and must be removed on both sides equally.

And there is nothing rational and calm about, basically, telling solo survivors to "lose out"

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3105006#Comment_3105006

Could have waited for me to reply before typing something else.

Skill Issue - This is not what those posts meant, and you know it. They were basically saying you just have to "git gud", against things like the Legion and Plague apocalypse, or the ultra stacked slowdown. Or how about the rise of camping and tunneling?

As for Dead Hard, I don't doubt a few Survivors got carried by it. The same thing can be said about NOED. But many posts here are endlessly claiming that DH is the sole reason why people are complaining, and that couldn't be further away from the truth. In fact, a vast minority in the Forums have complaints centered around Dead Hard's demise.

And MMR doesn't work. Everyone knows that.

As for the kill rates, sure, that was their objective. But there are better ways to do it. BHVR made a very poor call.

    As always.

So Magic: The Gathering is a game that I daresay is more complex than DbD by at least an order of magnitude. Devs there view any deck that has a consistent win rate above 55% as a candidate for further investigation and potential nerfing/specific problem card banning.

From what I read about this update pre-release, the devs view this same concept in DbD as the 2K/2 Escape. If survs in general are averaging 1Ks or 0Ks too often, then something needs to be investigated.

And that means, by the way, to fix the problem, life for survs gets more difficult because the goal is explicitly to cause them to die more often.

  • @Akumakaji said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3104973#Comment_3104973

And while you are at it, find one saying here anything other then "DS deactivating in end game was awesome, but the 3s stun duration is laughable and should be rolled back".

I honestly can't remember seeing any.

I killer main and the DS nerf to three seconds makes the perk range from okay-ish to utterly worthless, depending on the killer you're facing. Playing against Nurse or Blight or Spirit? DS is now utterly worthless. Playing against the worst M1 killers in the game? It's probably okay-ish.

  • Coming up on the 30-min mark, still playing CS-Go, DbD game is still hostage. FFS fix this.

  • I'd care a lot more about the plight survivor players think they're in right now if I wasn't constantly dealing with salty tears over how I didn't give hatch or went for a 4K instead of settling for a 3K. The entire survivor main sub-culture has all these rules they think killer mains are supposed to just know and understand and follow, and I'm sure it's purely coincidental that these rules always benefit the survivors.

It's almost as if as a killer if I don't play in the most sub-optimal way possible and put two hook states on every survivor before killing the first one that I'm some try hard camping tunneling sweat hog juice machine.

Some people out there really need to grow up.
