If tunneling wasn't fair it would be against the rules. It may not feel fair, but until the devs say otherwise, it is fair.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3386791#Comment_3386791

Clearly you don't know the dbd player base if you think people are going going constantly work together to fix something.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3388505#Comment_3388505

Meh. People are always going to prioritize their own fun over some strangers'

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3388480#Comment_3388480

But it is tolerated. Actively supported according to some. It doesn't matter if it shouldn't be tolerated. It is, and that's what matters.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3388518#Comment_3388518

Please don't tell me you actually think that's possible.

I think it us possible and the Devs needs to put in measures that everyone gets a chance to play the game without being bullied or harassed by killers/survivors if they do not want that they should add a surrender option so a survivor can leave a match they find unfun without losing anything

  • So it just isn't me I see so now killers are guaranteed 1 free kill

This is the issue. Winning as a killer in DBD doesn't require skill. By singling out a survivor early on, particularly with anti-loop killers, the game becomes one-sided and unbeatable for survivors. The game is not designed for a 3 v 1 scenario with 5-3 gens remaining. Tunneling is not a strategy employed by skilled killers, and it's not just a situation they stumble upon. They actively seek out and intend to play in this manner before every game. Why wouldn't they? It requires no skill, is simple to execute, and provides a very high chance of winning at the expense of making the game completely unenjoyable and nearly unplayable.

Why do you oppose my proposal that game developers should focus on solving the issue of tunnelling by encouraging killers to improve their skills and diversify their strategies? Survivors would likely appreciate additional objectives to complete to prolong the game (giving a more fun, natural slowdown of the game in order to help killer players), maybe even having to deal with highly buffed regression perks, if it meant that tunnelling was heavily punished, removed, or made impossible.

This game is definitely not balanced and made to be long lasting I don't think they intended this game to be long lasting and they're trying their best while focusing other games but this isn't a excuse

The killer role should be revised if not the survivor

  • @scoser said:

So tunneling will occur in 90% of the games instead of 75% now?

It doesn't matter the percentage it needs to be acknowledged and addressed

You're just making up what you consider a "good killer" to be and forcing your views on to your opponent so they play in a way you prefer.

That's not how pvp games work. A good killer can still tunnel out a survivor at the start, because they took advantage of the situation that let them quickly remove someone. No one is less skilled because they understand how to leverage an advantage and use it. Intentionally handicapping yourself does not make you any better than people who do not.

A good killer doesn't need to tunnel because they're confident in their ability to capitalize on survivors mistake and actions turning it around to benefit them instead of taking the easy way out and tunneling/camping the first person you see out the game.

When I played Ghostface/Plague all I did was force 3 gens patrol gens I wanted to keep didn't bother with the ones I knew I was going to lose. Survivors tend to do inner gens first so force them to do the outer ones first.

At least this way you can defend hooks and gens at the same time don't chase every survivor you see stick to your gens eventually one of you will break

  • I play both roles and find it increasingly boring to tunnel 😴 I play killer for excitement not easy wins or cheap kills its just not fun . Killer in general is boring just holding W pressing M1 😴 😒 they need something better to do cause wow I don't tunnel I manage to get a 4k if not 3k it's okay to lose 1 survivor.. . And I still find it boring

And on survivor if I get tunneled I wouldn't even bother staying in the match I'll just DC and go play dragon ball breakers version of this game .... no tunneling there just occasionally camping downed players

  • Tunnelling is a issue though as stated above it isn't fun to face being the one tunneled out the game and it happens every match because it is easy and made easier now.

It's especially not fun knowing you'll get three free gens knowing the killer will ignore everyone until the tunneled one is out

That’s why they should add a debuff while injured, something like 10% slower gens while injured to motivate them to still heal.

You want to make it impossible for survivors to win right more nerfs how is a duo or trio supposed to win

Those are not changes made from Dev Update to Patch notes, the Dev update is an overview of the changes - it does not list all the changes, it's more of a highlight. This is why we're always very adamant in telling our players to test all the changes and why we put out patch notes with the information included.

Why release them at all then and just do it when the patch is live to keep the confusion and expectations down.

The way its worded and conveyed between Devs and players isn't great

Every game that has ever existed has had the goal be for someone to win, what are you talking about? If winning isn’t a big deal in the first place, being tunneled out shouldn’t even matter the , since the goal isn’t to escape but have a fun game, and there is no single action more fun on survivor side than getting chased/interacting with the killer - which again, is exactly why I said hood players WON’T complain that much about tunneling, not that they CAN’T complain.

As far as tunneling right off the hook at the beginning of the game, of course it’s annoying and not the most effective strategy in all scenarios, but it’s never a bad idea to attempt, and frankly it’s about as annoying as anything the survivors can do to progress the game that you have little control over. That doesn’t mean I expect survivors to stop trying to tilt me at every opportunity by throwing in some extra bags after the pallet drop because they know they chain directly to a safe structure and can’t do anything about it. I take it all in stride and at the same level.

Think about what you just said everyone likes interaction with the killer and if that killer focu one survivor "which all of them do" other survivors will not be able to play half the match but be on a gen all day that's not fun. They all camp aswell denying play time to all

  • @[Deleted User] said:

There will never be a functional reason to not tunnel as long as killers have the same regression potential in a 3v1 as they do in a 4v1. Regression perks only get stronger as fewer survivors remain. Short of revising every regression and slowdown perk to scale per remaining survivor, there's not much to dissuade tunneling.

This is exactly why Killers needs a nerf they only need 1 kill to get a guaranteed win a 4v1 turns to a 3v1 real quick when you tunnel especially that makes 2 people not doing anything if one goes for a rescue they both just end up dead

  • Excuse me how do you tunnel gen like that is something you made up?

Survivors have nothing to do but gens and rely on teamwork to get them done if you do your role correctly you'll excel at killer with no effort

  • Now that the PTB is going live we can actually see how bad the environment will be

  • Such hostility from the Dev team they just wanted clarification as the patch notes differ from in game text

They can't balance the game for new survivors. People will learn by playing the game. Lets not handfeed them everything shall we? I have 3000 hours in this game and i'm still learning.

With my hours i do get decent survivors in my soloQ lobbies and if killers don't play good they get destroyed.

Killers have been consistently handfed for 6 years of this game and still currently begging for more. Like someone mentioned above killers are in a spot where they can deny loops and even make up the lost distance in chase at loops

While survivors are consistently kicked down and gutted to where they've to hold hands with each other to play

You shouldn't be able to pick up killer and instantly master it get 4k every match

  • @PrincessCalla said:

OTR is now the new DH I guess lol. Like I said in other threads, I could use it fine but preferred distortion, windows, PTS and bond.

I do not like what they did to healing though. For me that's a deal breaker, not because of a threat or something like that, but because I know I'll literally get tired of not being able to heal mysel, not getting heals from others, and going down over and over due to this. I'll just frustrated and in a bad mood, not worth it sadly as I really was having fun playing, even in soloq :)

They gutted healing to aid the killers who struggled with getting kills

like, seriously? if you play both roles and never had an issue with it than your in the same mmr as the people who dh into walls.

    lemme word it better...

If its in a deadzone not really much in terms of where they go,

But if they're under a pallet.. it's literally 70/30 in how that'll go,

(it also varies on which killer you're playing... some aren't affected while most Are..)

Edit: also having to verse some sus people with AutoDH which doesn't help per say,

So let me get this right.. as you stated Dead hard doesn't work in dead zones it doesn't work against half the killers relies on ping . It isn't a universal perk . You're saying DH isn't great choice to use against all killers and can't be used in evert situations very limited and only usable while injured. Isn't a fair perk?

While killers gain free mobility while being in chase and losing they get multiple free hits with virtually no penalty

Not everyone is a top player, and since the most busted things such as alch ring blight and nurse are really not played by casual players, they should not be balanaced? I do not have any issues with that opinion, as long as is consistent, deadhard should not be nerf because not everyone is good at the game, same as nurse/blight if thats the logic behind the argument that is.

Yeah they shouldn't get hard nerfs it's rewarding taking the time to master them so why gut punch people who play and practice

    Why would anyone use pebble

  • @DBDVulture said:

Here's the problem with your analysis : There are pallets in the game that literally turn off any attempt at skill for the killer to outplay the survivor. If this pallet is thrown and unbroken then it creates a "mini infinite" loop. That should not be part of the game but it is anyway.

It boggles the mind when a survivor main says things like :

    1. If they can loop for 60 seconds against an M1 killer then they deserve all that time.
    2. Why is the killer camping to conform a hook state? (the answer btw is because he could have chased you for 60 seconds and lost 2-3 generators around extremely safe/broken parts of the map. )

If you didn't spend your time camping you'd be better at chases and nobody is telling you to respect pallets just break them and move on you're too worried about what ifs than just playing a 60s chase in the killers fault get better play better it isn't hard to hold W and press M1

I do not understand the issue except that bad killers don't want to better themselves but bring others down with them so they can feel superior or like they've gotten better.

It is time to the crutches away and learn to play.. survivors have nothing left .. it would be alright if each survivor had their own unique ability

  • @DBDVulture said:

-"Not everyone is a top player though and the game shouldn't be balanced around top players."

You can't have a perk that gives almost 4x the advantage of a similar perk in the same category. DH and SB are both exhaustion perks meant to give you a tool to create distance where none exists. If the best players are always getting 17 seconds from SB and the bad players are getting 12 that's fine. No one is upset about 5 seconds longer in a chase.

DH was giving good players 40-60 seconds extra in a chase. Do you think there is any scenario where equipping DH and getting that much extra time in a chase was fair?

You cannot have a game ignore "top tier" balance unless as a player you can "opt out" of top tier gameplay.

60s is fair it isn't the survivors fault for the killer not being able to adapt or get any better. They played it bad and have to own up to their mistake not get a free handout if a chase is lasting 60s additional then that's on the killers for not pivoting where it was needed.

  • @DBDVulture said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3381576#Comment_3381576

    Here's the problem :

Sprint Burst and Lithe really only work "a little bit" compared to current DH. The two front loaded perks let you change the tile you are on at the start of a chase and then do nothing. DH lets you get distance to get to a new tile mid chase. That means you could combine it with windows and then run to 3 safe pallets and force the killer to drop all those pallets and break them.

It was common to see strong players use DH and then get 30 seconds in a chase but sometimes 40-60 seconds. IF the survivors get 30 seconds extra time in a chase that gives their team 90 seconds which is the time to complete three generators.

In the very best of conditions when you use SB/L you're going to get about 12 seconds in a chase if the killer is expecting it. If the killer attacks and misses then maybe you get ~17 seconds in the absolute best case scenario. The realistic use of DH gives you basically double time at the worst and +40 seconds at best. That was absolutely game breaking.

When playing vs high level survivors DH extended chases by minutes over the course of the game.

Not everyone is a top player though and the game shouldn't be balanced around top players. If a chase is 90s long your over committed and that's you're own fault. Who would let someone kill you for free

  • @DBDVulture said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3380674#Comment_3380674

This is a really good point - Dead Hard allowed survivors to mess up and have "insurance" in case they made an error mid chase. Where was : Generator Hard? You lost a generator because someone wasted your time with Dead Hard so you press E on a completed generator and now it goes back to active with 60 seconds of repair time lost.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3379900#Comment_3379900

DH was too strong when used by good players but was used poorly by bad players. Good players were getting even more time in chase before than they were with DH for distance. Old DH for distance gave you about 2-3 seconds of distance. The current form of DH gives you ~16 seconds of distance + the killer's recovery animation.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3380713#Comment_3380713

And that's why it got nerfed - The top tier of DBD loopers were using this every game to waste massive amounts of time. The meta didn't shift at all when the devs "nerfed" it except that only the top tier players were using it. Not only were they doing well with it - they were doing better than the old DH for distance.

Isn't that the purpose of a perk to be useful and for survivors to you know survive ? How tools to survive you know? Or should they lay Dien snd due when you see them

  • @Verconissp said:

Dh is a problem of a perk,

rewards unskillful plays and gives a 3rd healthstate,

plus dealing with auto Dh is also terrible,

glad it's nerfed so i can see how many survivors cry about it,

What do you mean by unskilled? It takes near perfect timing and right zone usage to be usable? It takes skill. Now it doesn't take skill to press m1

  • @tyantlmumagjiaonuha said:

The current high usage rate is strange. How come there are so many games in a row that bring more than 3 out of 4 players? I'm tired of being exposed to the stress of hesitating to press M1 every game when I don't know if I have it or not.

And for the record, the only skilled DH play is when you're in the open.

Really doesn't change what I am trying to say. Everyone agrees that camping is annoying, but I say it is largely ineffective and borderline a game throw.

The only reason camping works is because people just give up against it, or make every possible mistake. If people stop feeding kills to campers, you'll see less campers.

Listen to what you've just said and re-read it if you need to. I do not think you understand what you're trying to say so let me give you a thought process.

Survivor loads into a match with the thought they'll get to enjoy the match win or lose

Camping killer going into a match with the intention of losing and doesn't care that he is going to lose. He intentionally throws the match for everyone and ruins it cause he can. Nobody gains anything and wasted 30min trying to play.

Not everyone have time to play and it is limited to a few matches and if those matches are all tunneling campers it makes it easy to not wabt to play at all

  • When I play dead by daylight I want to feel a chance that I can win not a "oh it's this killer and they're gonna run this let me DC real quick" type of feeling. I do not run meta perks as a survivor or killer not that you need perks as killer to win just go perkless.

Survivors on the other hand have to make little to no mistake and be perfectly coordinated to do anything with little to no perk variety. If you take a look at their perks you'll see they do the samething but worse than the next perk only giving you a few options.

Killers on the other hand have room for mistake and can completely fail in the start of the game doing nothing then instant win end game and even be rewarded for losing. They've builds to counter everything a survivor has and dictate how every match Speed is set. They're the power role

  • Dead hard is used mostly because it is a chase extender if used right but that chase is only extended for a few seconds / most survivors feels cheated with killers getting a free hit in do to latency bad ping . Ultimately it is good for taking a extra hit if you manage but you can use far better perks that do not have such a big down side

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

    How long was that game?

They held the game hostage and matches with Skull Merchant if she wants can stall the match out for hours unless survivors give her a free kill

Her drones are so bad for hook camping why do people keep saying they're good for this lol

I do not care for the hook camping none does really they do nothing to help her with hook camping they problem is when 3 gens spawn side by side that she doesn't have to move far to defend them. This isn't something killers or survivors can control but with her defending 3 gens is a whole lot easy as they doesn't have to do anything to be rewarded for it and if a hook spawn in-between these three gens that's just makes it easier for her

Banning killers for tunneling is outrageous. Expecting the killer to hook every survivor 3 times, up to a total of 12 hooks, when there's only 1 - 2 generators is insane.

Yes — I agree, it's frustrating and no one likes to be in the receiving end of tunneling. I'll be the first to say I hate tunneling, but it's a necessary evil killer's need to bring the odds back into their favor. If you want to see less tunneling, we need to make killers feel like they don't need to tunnel in the first place. Then afterwards, we can make basekit changes that punish tunneling. You need to address the cause before actively punishing something.

The need to tunnel is a skill issue and most if not all killers have the utilities they need not to tunnel . I play killer and don't tunnel and I do just fine or did just fine (before the changes)

  • @Draxlore said:

A killer gets to chose who he/she is going after. If its the same person that just came off the hook....thats the killers decision. the survivors get no say in the matter. End of story.

So should survivors have to do gens? Why do gens when you can just loop the killer all day not our fault the killer is bad right

  • Players who tunnel should outright get banned if not suspended its unsportsmanlike conduct and just a hostile gaming environment.

Those who tunnel do not care about the strat winning or losing they do it because they can and to ruin a players game.

It's fun when I can ruin another player game right ? Until they out it down and go elsewhere. I honestly did andvkinda just play once or twice a few weeks.

Now they're trying to address the tunneling camping issue but it's kinda too late now for a returning player they've made too many changes at that

  • For me killer has such a more focused appeal now over survivors who are very perk dependent unlike f13 you had meta perks yeah and could bully the killer but also you could get punished for those unique perks . They either made the game slightly easier or slightly harder

For instance Ace unique perk could be just unnatural high luck I mean you can't win off of luck alone but it would be interesting to see him kobe off hook every now and then or pull rare items from chests without having to build towards it

  • Making each survivor unique to their own personality traits and ability do not have to be absolutely game breaking but more of a understanding to why you like that character and give them a small boost to gameplay with them. The ability do not even have to impact the killer for instance David is protraited as character that will go above and beyond for their friends maybe give him a inact ability to draw killers attention in a rewarding way

Right now as stated might aswell just have one survivor with many skins and scrap the names all together

  • They need to focus a more effective way to deal with camping killers for instance longer time on hook or allow the hook to break if the killer is near by.

I would like to see a perk that blocks killers hooks too .. but takes time to set up

I play Trapper with way way off meta perks and still win games. You are just not so pigeon-holed into taking certain perks as you are with survivor. Especially solo-queue.

I agree as survivors are stuck into one specific build to play the game killers have every opportunity to change the pace of the game with a versatile selection of perks. While survivors are just skins and one perks change hurts them negatively.

Killers mains cry about 1 perk giving a survivor a chance to survive is like saying that player is seal team 6

  • What else do you want? You've end game collapse you can chase them out you can keep trying to hook them? Like what more can you ask for at end game? For survivors to insta die the moment the gates open?

If you want to win you should be putting some effort into doing so. The fact that people were so used to being able to casually win against their opponents was a problem.

It's not about casually winning it's more about being able to hop on and play without being pressured committed to a build or having to grind for perks for those who only play a few hours a day

Being on the hook is part of the game. You are still playing the game. It's no less boring then holding m1 on a gen. It's no less boring then survivors spending 2 minutes at exit gates tbagging if you don't come push them out. It's only a problem because it's not working out in your favor in that situation.

I don't know about you but when I play dead by daylight I want to play the game just not sit on a gennafter gen for free cause a killer is face camping nor do I want to come out of a lobby simulator and get face camped myself . Thats not playing the game at all

I do not run meta builds and know that if I'm caught I'm out the game on first hook.

My build is Residual Manifest,Blast mine, Windows and lithe for those who ask.

  • Casually playing is no longer a option because now if you want to win you've to make a build for it and be hyper focused
