  • Then why don't you just chase them? I guess I'm super confused by what you want here because it sounds like what you want is to just hook people but let them all go in the end which...you can just do. You're the killer, you're the one in control if you choose not to sacrifice people on Death Hook.

  • Everybody has already made the clear and obvious point so no need to rehash that

So instead, I'm going to go ahead and entertain that even IF the game were one sided over the other, there can still be broken and/or annoying as hell perks that make the game incredibly unfun to play, even if said game would end in your "victory" (with either 4K or 4 escapes pending which side you're on).

A game being X sided and perks on Y side being annoying and bad for the game is not a mutually exclusive thing

  • I would say no

Not because I don't think it would be a cool idea but there are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many more problems in the game that desperately need attention that adding yet another thing onto the pile seems like a bad decision, especially since this has always been a multiplayer game.

BHVR, either because of management requirements or the team is too ambitious, already has a large number of problems with 4 DLCs a year. Tacking on yet another thing would just be one more thing to take away resources away from an already too resource starved game.

I don't have anything to add to the conversation, but I saw some beans and felt compelled to show you kitte.

Your contribution to the discussion was very good

  • More like Oh Hi NO, am I right!?!?!

  • I don't know if this is "feedback" but I don't know where else to go with it...

If you start typing a response to a thread that is then deleted while you're typing your post, the "MY DRAFTS" goes nutter butters with drafts

    image.png

There are currently eight "Drafts" in "MY DRAFTS" from that thread that was just deleted for being naughty and breaking the rules.

  • I can't speak for everyone but head on against me as a killer usually works well...once

Most survivors telegraph what they're doing when using Head On something fierce to the point where I almost look forward to bully Head On squads because they're really easy to take out...

I think someone posted some inappropriate images here, so they changed that you have to be a forum member for a while to be able to post?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2I2SO08K1WNF/image.png

I thought that measure was temporary but you could be right (it says "Unconfirmed" next to their name, which I think is a new feature of the new forum. I don't recall ever seeing that on the Old Forum at least)

    Also FEETSIES!!!!!!

  • When the forums changed over, something went a little goofy with pictures. It sounded like it was fixed but maybe yours wasn't for whatever reason. @Mandy fixed mine by resetting some permissions thing, maybe they can do the same for you? I tagged them so hopefully they see the Bat Signal and come over to help

    PXL_20221222_160457328.jpg

Here is a picture of Olive to help you feel better until it's fixed

  • There's a lot of stuff that it's not going to fix...

But it's a step in the right direction as long as you get four quasi-competent survivors (which granted, that can be a tall order but still...baby steps!)

  • I've "only" played for three years now but the two main ones I can remember making me feel like I want to just quit the damn match when I ran into it were

Boil Over (after the big buff but before the nerf)

    Dead Hard (before the nerf)

As the killer, both of those situations made me want to just stop playing the match as both those perks made the game a living hell, especially in the hands of bully squads.

Eruption is how I feel as a survivor now. Thankfully it still seems relatively rare (I imagine more killers than not get just as bored and defending three gens like their life depended on it and turning the game into a painful slog as I do as a survivor) but yeah, anytime I run into Eruption, it makes me want to stop playing the game. Which is what the above two perks did for me as a killer.

  • Apologies, I saw this thread yesterday and completely forgot about it. I take full responsibility for this and hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me.

Here's Olive playing and being a living reminder that I should probably vacuum...

  • I mean...I can't imagine the devs during their brainstorm thought "You know what we need? A killer who is absolute trash!!!!".

I do think in The Knight's case, their ambition got the better of them. The power of The Knight is one of those powers that has the potential to be insanely overpowered but right now, his power is incredibly weak in fear of making him OP. BHVR errored on the side of caution on this one and The Knight is suffering badly for it.

Unfortunately BHVR is going to run on BHVR time and they'll eventually boost his powers. Probably. In 2023 or maybe 2024...

  • I didn't even do nothin :(

I wish they would just do that what a lot of the mobas are doing: look at what are the most played options, in this case like the top 5 perks of each side, and just nerf them in some way and buff the 5 least played perks of both sides. Do this every 2 weeks and thus keep the game and meta ever fresh, ever evolving. Sometimes they might mess up, in that case give us a hot fix and revert the buffs/debuffs, but for the most part just stick with it.

Peoples favorite perks might eventually get nerfed, but they can find something new that would be then strong that they had never ever considerd.

Honestly, I've never ever understood why BHVR is so damn gun shy about even just tweaking numbers

Not every change has to be some grand sweeping epic. Bump a percent up or down a bit and see how it works out. If it doesn't work out, bump it back up or down.

At the very least, you'd think PBT would just be constantly open with them farting around with perks and whatnot..

Maybe the code is so Spaghetti'ed that they can't touch stuff like that. If they make Self Care healing go up by 10%, it makes The Clown's yellow bottles stop working *shrug*

  • I was a lot more hopeful after the big perk meta shakeup but my optimism from that is slowly draining. I was hoping that maybe, just maybe, BHVR might finally be ready to make some changes and make them at a speed that wasn't a tortoise with three broken legs but that hope seems to have been misguided.

The game is still going strong and I'll likely keep playing until the game itself goes down but it's incredibly disappointing that after they did the huge shakeup, they still seem absolutely petrified to do any kind of changes, even when about 97% of the forum agrees that something is a problem.

I also always send a gg. Most of the time it gets a positive reaction. But sometimes people feel attacked by it.

If we won by the skin of our teeth I might too, though I try to do more than just a GG if I won (like compliment them on something they did during the match or whatnot). Just to give it a little extra emphasis that I'm not trying to mock them or whatever.

  • Happy Honda Days to all those who celebrate!

  • @Tsulan said:

Someone else noticed, that as killer you only get a gg when you lose? Feels almost like a git gud instead of good game.

Funny enough, I now send GGs to my fellow Xbox players....but only when I lose (as long as they weren't jerks or whatnot about it) PRECISELY for this reason. I'm always worried they're going to take it the wrong way if I were to send it when I beat them.

  • I feel like I keep having to post this but it keeps just being perfect sooooo....

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzpndHtdl9A

Something a lot of people need reminding often. Would I like it if everybody played "Sportingly" and nobody did anything jerkish? Of course. But not everybody is going to play that way and there's no reason to get yourself all worked up over it. It's only game, why you hafta be mad?

Also as I feel like I VERY clearly demonstrated in a previous thread about mental health, there are times when I need this reminder just as much as anyone else.

  • I do Boop the Snoot!

    HOWEVER...

I only do it at the end when I'm on Death Hook and injured. Then I Boop the Snoot and hope that I booped it correctly to shut down the "KILL MODE" of the Pig. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

  • I already have those too so you get what I believe might be a picture of Olive...

    PXL_20221219_182735651.jpg

It's just a void so maybe the bed is empty but I'm pretty sure she crawled in there...

  • I didn't do nothin 😭

As to the topic, while it would be nice for them to let you get your achievement, no one is under any obligation to throw the game because you want to get an achievement done.

I can’t tell if this a serious post if I’m honest

DBD has been dying for five years now, didn't you know? Any day now it'll finally have the last gasp!!!

OT: Others have already stated but all this is going to do is make Solo a bit more of a level playing field. That will make it far easier to balance now since BHVR has a far smaller gap between solos and SWFs to deal with

  • For the survivors maybe but I find "DBD: Scooby Doo Edition" is dumb as hell

I can't speak to every killer obviously but I find I play way more "fair" killers than I do camping/tunneling/whatever you hate killers

  • I can almost guarantee that will never happen

BHVR has specifically said that they removed those BECAUSE they don't want people running perks just because they give a BP bonus. Unless they do a complete 180 on that position (and with the Match Making Incentives, I see no reason why they would), BP Bonuses added to any perks won't happen.

Personally I'm happy they both lost the BP stuff. I haven't ran either perks since (I think I still run it on Freddy since he can zip around the map quickly but other than him, no one else has BBQ on anymore and I no longer feel like I'm wasting BP by not running it).

  • I tried to determine why I gravitate towards survivor in this game versus what something like Evil Dead did and I think I figured it out...

It's BECAUSE there is no voice chat in the game.

I just...don't like to talk to people when I'm playing games. Part of it is because I find it distracting, part of it is because strangers are morons, and some of it is because I find it distracting with how many of the strangers are being morons.

I have no desire to have any kind of a voice chat in the game and if it's ever added, I doubt I'd ever actually use it.

  • A deleted thread!!! You know what that means boys!

    eb7ua0i8idx11.jpg

    Spiderman thread!!!!

  • As a killer, I have a few "rules" for when I give out Hatch

    1. Do I feel like it? This is the most important rule for obvious reasons. I usually do feel like it but there are times when I need to get a challenge done or for whatever reason, I'm just not really feeling all that merciful.
    2. Did the survivor BM during the match? If they did, they do not get the hatch, regardless of whether they fulfill every other rule
    3. Did they impress me? During the trial, I try to keep in mind that if I have the option, X person is the one I want to allow to live. Usually it's because they impressed me in a chase with a slick move or they did something incredibly altruistic for the good of the team
    4. The Lottery. If the survivor didn't do anything impressive that made me decide they deserve the Hatch, the last shot they have is what I call The Lottery. Basically once I down them and start moving to the hook, if on the way to the hook I hear the hatch, I'll drop them at it instead of hooking them. Basically dumb luck for the survivor

As a survivor, I don't care in either direction. I certainly won't say No to a hatch if the killer deems me worthy and/or takes pity on me but I don't ever expect it

When I play in a trio/4man, I always run PE - it's so good in so many situations, but you need a team behind you to really get the most out of it.

That said, while I'm not a big fan of the 'use x perk bandaid style to fix y balance issue', Shattered Hope.

    That is all.

I think it's a fun perk to run but like....well...just about everything else, way more powerful in SWF. If for any other reason, they know that if the killer comes, they should be the one to tank the hit if you've stored up a bunch of energy and you can coordinate on when you should store up energy versus just hammer the gen done.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3289299#Comment_3289299

Easiest way to counter it - Potential Energy (a perk I predict is going to be far more of a problem than Eruption once it starts getting used more). In a SWF, this thing is godly. In solo, it can be used to pretty damn effectively counter Eruption. Keep track of which gets have Eruption, run away after the person being chased gets hit the first time and start storing energy from the nearest gen. As soon as they go down, run back and dump your stacks.

I've yet to see it fail in an SWF situation. This is also mad strong for breaking a 3gen.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3289515#Comment_3289515

    This this this.

Sadly, the game cannot be balanced around both solos and SWF, and SWF has to be the target, otherwise SWF is unstoppable or perks all have to be bad and bland.

What solos need is some of the SWF tools (marks, pings, status icons) and easier methods to put together an SWF.

While I have some fun with Potential Energy, it's one of those things where I don't run into Eruption THAT often that I'm willing to sacrifice another perk spot to try to get my solo ass on par with SWFs (seeing as I already feel forced to run Kindred and Bond just to compete).

While Eruption is a huge pain to deal with, I've thankfully noticed that many killers don't do the 3 Gen Eruption Defense thing. I imagine they get just as bored "Death by a Thousand Cutting" us survivors are we get being attacked by a thousand cuts...

    =D

You put Holly in the cage like the dog ?

Jail ! Jail for tippy for a thousand years !

Tippy is innocent of this crime!!!!

HOLLY is the one who got into the crate. I didn't make her do anything :D

Olive is still new enough that I still think they're just getting used to each other but as of now at least, I don't think Holly appreciates Olive being here. I'm hoping to give it a few more weeks before I step in (no claws or teeth have been used so I'm not overly concerned right now but basically anytime Olive and Holly are together, Olive paws at Holly and Holly hisses, they tangle, then they run away from each other).

Just hoping/figuring they're still establishing their own positions (Olive as the new kitty and Holly as the kitty who now has to share what was her territory alone) and just need a few more weeks to at least be fine with each other

  • Because y'all would be sad without something...

You can have a Holly pic BUT it's a sad one!

    PXL_20221209_175415467.jpg

I do not think she likes having a new sister...

  • Yay! Free BP!!!

Oh no, I have to now spend BP...

Well see you all in a game in like...40 minutes! :D

  • People see this game and think it's 1 v 4 but in a way, it's 1 v 1 v 1 v 1 v 1, just one of you has the ability to brutally murder the others.

You might find it frustrating but unless the survivor is actually working with the killer, it's not against the rules to screw over your teammates to save yourself. It might be incredibly short sighted and stupid pending what point it is in the match but it's not illegal.

  • As others have stated, even if you decided to do it, how do you even prove it?

I've had friggin hunches make me check a random locker in a match only to find a survivor hiding. There was no in game reason to make me do that. I didn't see marks or blood or hear anything. Just a gut feeling that something felt off. That's not even taking into consideration just experience and knowing weird places people like to hide that I randomly check from playing against others.

To someone streaming, it very easily could look like I sniped them because they didn't see any good reason why I acted the way I did. If you stream, this is a risk you take on.

  • Oppression

I get there are much better slowdown perks. But for some reason, basically every killer I run has Oppression on them. It's just nice to know that if the survivors aren't paying too close attention, there's a chance that I might take three gens down with one single kick...

  • People who DC/Suicide right away

It sucks for the survivors but it sucks just as much for me as a killer because I play pretty much 50/50 so I'm well aware of how much it sucks for the survivors. So now it's on me to decide how to proceed. I don't really want to just kill everyone ASAP because that sucks as a survivor to just get curb stomped like that. But I don't really want to kill a bunch of time hoping the survivors hammer the gens. Then if the survivors do communicate that they want to farm, there are times where I'm just not interested anymore (either because I've maxed out my score at this point or it's been like....10 minutes and I'm just really looking to get to the next damn match at this point).

Sucks. As someone above stated, anyone who tries to suicide on hook in my games as the killer get to play a game of "lie here on the floor and think about what you've done". If my match is going to be ruined by whatever baby reasons you had to try to quit at 5 gens, your time is going to equal mine.

Oh sure but when it comes to the other side of the table, doesn't matter what you brought right? Killer has to deal with it? No matter what perk or frustration it causes? Seems funny

That's one hell of a straw man you build. It's impressive.

  • Hmmmmm

Technically it is a code so by the letter of the law, you receive a Holly pic. But it's for an old cosmetic I already have so does it fulfill the SPIRIT of the law?

You can have a Holly pic BUT it's an old one. Though it is my favorite pic (fun Tippy fact, it is the wallpaper on my phone) so you should still see it as a win.

They were on...either Ash or Chris (which is what suddenly caught my attention) but yeah. I've also played against Aven and Tiuful recently.

Not sure how the game went, I just remember failing to sneak up on people in a snowman on it.

I'm always paranoid when people might recognize me

Maybe that's a game where I'm off and I look like I've never played the game in my life! Or maybe it was a night of frustration so some of the "rules" I've put in the forum aren't always fully followed because I'm just kind of tilted. Or maybe I'm going to find out that the super cool Starlost on the forum ends up being a complete tosser who messages Death Threats at me :D (of course you did not do that, just using your name as my example).

Where much more likely, nobody even notices that I'm their opponent and they had no idea they just went up against me :D

Sony are the other extreme (also Ubisoft) where they'll ban people for being mildly critical of them, or even parodying them.

Yeah, I still have a beef with Sony after they deliberately put malware on their CDs back in their day, which wound up ruining a PC of mine because I wanted to play that new Korn album.

EDIT: Also, hah! Either you've got a doppelganger out there, or I played against you the other day. I was the Ghostface in the snowman ^^

I know I played a few ghosties the last few days but I don't recall a Ghostie who hopped in the snowman. Though I may have just never noticed you doing that :D Or I forgot because I have the memory of a goldfish!

I do go by Tippy2K on DBD (no second 2 in my user name). I've seen a lot of names similar to mine though (I'm guessing they're referring to Tippy as in drunk or whatnot where my Tippy is a nickname from Middle School that I've carried with me this entire time) but as long as that Tippy was super good and awesome at the game, I'll take credit for them being me! :D

Steam really doesn't care. You'd have to do way worse than calling someone an epithet to get their attention.

    Damn, that's a shame.

I know Microsoft/Sony seem to get a bit of a bad rep because they are a little too overzealous when it comes to this kind of thing but that's an easy fix; don't be an ######### to people online over a video game :D

  • Obviously that is not ok, I want to make sure that is perfectly clear

But in a way, I'd think that this would end even worse for harassers being jerks. I guess I don't know exactly how Steam works but I would imagine getting yourself banned from Steam would be FAR worse than just getting banned from DBD.
