    This. 👍️

The very nature of Nurse is that she breaks the conventional rules of the game.

Every killer does something interesting and powerful with a select handful of perks. Huntress and Trickster like Iron Maiden, as may Artist once people start diving into lockers to remove crows (like me). Distressing is good on Doctor. Monitor & Abuse can be slick on Hag (RIP Deathslinger 😔).

Remember when people freaked out about Nurse when Awakened Awareness dropped? Where are those people now? Let strong killers have strong perk synergies. It's not wrong. Not every Nurse is going to use it - I rarely face a Nurse anyways, so I don't even know how prominent she is regardless.

The Awakened Awareness Nurse thing never materialized because they nerfed Awakened Awareness after that PTB. That was back when Starstruck still worked with her power which was ridiculously overpowered.

The thing is, Awakened Awareness isn't really that good now because they nerfed it and instead of addressing Nurse (at that time) they nerfed the perk (which was a mistake) and now it gets almost zero use. That's exactly what we should be trying to avoid here. Nerfing Predator would accomplish nothing and wouldn't be addressing the real problem. This is why her blink attacks are special attacks now. It voided Starstruck on her (the one killer Starstruck was a problem on) and kept it untouched for the entire rest of the killer roster. A similar thing needs to happen here. There's nothing wrong with Nurse being unique (actually I like that she exists and that she is different), but auras are too strong with her power and a killer being unique from the rest doesn't justify them having an overpowered perk synergy.

  • The Blindness on blink idea is something I've been thinking about for a while and I agree.

You can still use aura perks for info and while not blinking. Just no more blinking directly on top of auras for free hits.

The Heavy Panting addon (30% longer lunge after chain blink) also needs a nerf.

I actually do like Matchbox Nurse a lot, and I'd not at all be upset to see this change personally. The only things that pulls me back from it however are: -

    • I would have a hard time justifying to everyone who plays Nurse having the time and effort they put into learning her multi-blinks all being for naught.
    • Her being 3.95m/s is such a unique aspect of Nurse that I can't in good conscience get rid of it...
    • Having its as a alternative playstyle via an iri is what I feel iri's should be, and I think Nurse' Matchbox add-on is one of the best.

I've also heard people criticise Matchbox Nurse as having to some rather painful zoning potential, where her being 4.4 can put you in lose/lose scenarios... but that's 3rd party info, and I'm not skilled enough to say I can affirm or deny, so take that with a pinch of salt...

Also thank you so much! I very much appreciate people taking the time to read and respond to my guff. 😁

It's always pleasant when people agree with you ans affirm your perspective, but when people disagree, I learn a lot and greatly benefit from the wealth of experience available here, so in a lot of ways I actually prefer to read posts that have the opposing point of view.

I either expand my knowledge to form a better argument, or I sometimes have to compromise, or completely rethink my whole position entirely 😁🤘

Matchbox Nurse has less counterplay than regular Nurse due to the increased movement speed, since survivors cannot make distance on her anymore while she's walking. Personally, that's not something I'd want to be made basekit. Nurse can be a very interactive killer for both sides as long as auras aren't involved (which the Blindness is intended to address) and Matchbox takes a lot of that away imo.

  • Coldwind as a whole just feels too killer sided now for the most part (maybe except Torment Creek).

It also just doesn't look right being so bright, I wish they would make it darker again.

  • It takes about 30 seconds to heal with that. It's a little slower than a medkit but it is infinite. Given that and you also get 50% bonus healing speed when healing others, it's actually pretty good, but you do have to use 2 perks to get that so depending on your playstyle and the rest of your build, other options could be better. The main advantage of SC is it has no prerequisite, it just works.

The notifications of cleansed hexes are vague and sometimes don't even have a sound to notify.

You speak from the perspective of a coordinated SWF team but that's not what this thread is about. It's about soloQ players who can't talk to each other. If one survivor failing to cleanse a Pentimento sabotages the entire team and all but guarantees a loss, all because of one player whom no one can communicate with, then my point stands: Pentimento needs an update because it's too strong against solo players.

I primarily play solo queue and don't have a problem countering it.

i mean, many perk are design to be good at one particular aspect and not good for other aspects. If you want generic chase survivor shorter cooldown benefit then this perk already exists. it is called STBFL.

This perk is designed to combat leaving survivors on hook for 69 seconds and denying one for one hook trades that favor survivor.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3818804#Comment_3818804

    why not?

A perk that is designed for that particular purpose is unhealthy and should not exist.

  • It doesn't need a nerf. If someone cleanses a totem, and the killer gets Pentimento, that survivor needs to go back and clean it up, especially if it was a dull totem. In the vast majority of cases, you should not be putting your teammates in a position where they have to spend a long time looking for it. (And if you see Pentimento, stop doing dull totems. Whatever dull totem perk you have probably isn't worth it in this case.) If it's a hex, pay attention to where they were destroyed. Anyone can easily go in that direction and find the totem. It's really not that hard to counter.

  • So a perk that only works for camping and denying hook trades and is useless for everything else? No thanks.

  • I still don't love the idea of Torment on M2, even with survivors getting endurance out of the cage. I feel like it overshadows the idea of the torment trails too much and diminishes their value. It also makes it easy to just apply torment immediately to a recently unhooked or uncaged survivor especially since protection hits are impossible against it.

I would also like to see his basekit punishment range increased a little, range addons are by far his most popular and I think it is a fair trade in exchange for the base BT on cages becoming a thing (which I 100% agree with doing).

I like these addon changes, these are much better and a lot more interesting than what we have now. 2 specific ones I'll comment on:

    • Leopard-Print Fabric (killer instinct duration addon) should be buffed further. The existing purple addon with this effect is 3 seconds and it still doesn't see much play, so 2 seconds definitely isn't enough.
    • Rust-Colored Egg might be problematic for tunneling and negating base BT/OTR very similar to Pinhead's Original Pain addon, which rarely gets used for anything other than this.

I mean hell, if it means Nurse gets a nerf and Wraith gets at least one good teachable then I'm all for it.

Hopefully 2 good teachables soon since Shadowborn was on the roadmap again.

  • Pyramid Head and Freddy. Unknown's addon set is pretty bad now too since the best ones got nerfed

  • Eh, nerfing Sloppy was fine I think. I disagreed with IW getting re-buffed

  • Depends entirely on the map. There's a huge discrepancy between the strongest and weakest maps for survivors. Coldwind in particular is pretty bad for survivor at the moment.

  • Maps and green keys + some of the lesser-used key addons

  • Imo the perk needs a more favorable conversion rate, ie. instead of 1.5% = 1% it could be 1.2% = 1%. This way the perk is more efficient to use and would be worth it more often.

I also agree with reducing the activation time to 3 seconds, 8 seconds is too much.

  • It's actually pretty strong now, yeah. It's way easier to activate now and 10% haste for a full 60 seconds is a big deal

  • I'm glad I missed it. I remember the last time this happened too.

To the mod team, sorry you had to deal with this but thank you for getting it cleaned up, it's much appreciated.

  • The Dark Sense change doesn't make the perk better. The whole point of it is to show you the killer's aura as they approach you so you know where they are coming from and/or potentially see their aura at the start of a chase. It also can warn you of a nearby stealth killer (you won't see their aura but you can see the perk triggered which means they are within 24m). Making it map wide takes most of that away, and the old Dark Sense basically already did this and it wasn't that good. Eyes of Belmont now is the same thing but it's better than what Dark Sense used to be because it has an additional effect.

The only thing they have to do to make Dark Sense good is make it not waste its activation while downed or hooked, because it currently does that which makes it worse because that information is typically not as helpful and doesn't help you in chase or tell you where the killer is at a time that you can actually act on it. Maybe also reveal the killer's aura for 10 seconds regardless of distance if a generator gets completed while the perk is already active so you don't completely "lose" an activation (since right now, completing 5 gens doesn't necessarily mean the perk works 5 times).

  • There's definitely something wrong with hits since the update. Very noticeable on both sides

  • They can get healed by someone else and still have OTR, that's completely normal.

  • Because FTP requires you to be healthy to use it, and MFT requires you to be injured.

You use FTP while healthy, the heal goes through, and then you get injured as a result of that action. MFT isn't active when you do the FTP heal, so the perks don't work together.

  • Honestly at this point just make the Nurse get Blindness when she starts charging her power up until she goes into fatigue. I don't want more perks getting nerfed because of her. Predator is fine. Nurse is the issue.

  • The nerfs don't change the fact that her power is still extremely badly designed. She required far more effort to counter than she did to play, did not have adequate counterplay, and got way too many things for free just for existing. She can't be salvaged with nerfs, she needs a rework and her power needs to be changed, but she deserved to be nerfed in the meantime. It's a bandaid, and admittedly not a very good one, but she was far too problematic to be allowed to remain the way she was for the next year.

They should fix her bugs including with the drone beams facing the wrong way initially but other than that they shouldn't spend any more resources on her until she's reworked. There's no fixing her current iteration, her current power will either always be obnoxious or terrible.

  • The hallucinations themselves appearing is normal, yeah.

The issue is that they aren't supposed to have their auras visible to the killer in madness 2 without the addons, as indicated here:

    image_2024-10-09_105937612.png
  • Device of Undisclosed Origin actually isn't too bad, it makes dispelling more risky since you don't know if the killer is near and you can't look around while dispelling either. It's not amazing, but it's okay.

The rest though I agree, and I agree with what you're saying in general. Not only is the end result with Blurry Photo worse than before, most of Unknown's other addons are either weak, boring, or both and there aren't many interesting combinations either. Nerfing Vanishing Box was fine, but Unknown needed far more addon changes than just that. Sketch Attempt/Rabbit's Foot/Punctured Eyeball are all really bad even for brown addons, and Homemade Mask isn't really worthy of being purple rarity either.

  • It should be 1 second basekit.

End result with Blurry Photo would be the same as last patch, and 1 second is quick enough that the addon wouldn't feel required anymore

  • This just has the exact same problem as the old Distortion though, it's a one-size-fits-all hard counter to most aura reading.

The only difference with this compared to old Distortion is that it only works outside of chase but that doesn't really make it any healthier.

  • Self-Preservation should have its range increased to 32 meters.

  • It was absolutely a necessary addition. Old BT was a bandaid to a problem the game had.

  • This would just make BT mandatory again which is exactly what making it basekit was supposed to fix. There's a reason that change was made.

If you are in a position where you have to hook someone that close to a prepared/opened gate and they can get rescued and get out in 10 seconds, you've already lost.

  • Your idea is an interesting perk, but I'd want that as its own thing and not as a rework to Cut Loose. Cut Loose is already a unique perk and I wouldn't want to see it replaced.

Cut Loose just needs a shorter cooldown and the duration increased to 8 seconds to make it a lot easier to use. 6 seconds is a little too short a lot of the time and the 45 second cooldown is overkill, it should only be around 20 seconds.

  • Failed skill checks is just a bad trigger condition. It makes the perk really good against newer survivors and near useless against good survivors which is awful. It needs to have a completely different way of gaining tokens.

Someone already did, it's been "Under Review" since March.

6 months and no mention of it in any patchnote afaik, I think we can forget this getting fixed (if it's even unintended).

The funniest thing to me is that Unknown came with Unforeseen and Undone, two gen-kick perks, one of which counts as two kicks and will never be useful against anyone with a kernel of experience, just after putting an arbitrary limit on gen-regression. You can't make this up XD

Even without the regression limit, the perk would be arguably one of the worst perks in the game, it's downright a throwing perk that was DOA because of the limit.

There's no chance that it's intended, it's completely inconsistent with how PGTW works (it only counts as 1 event).

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

It needed something that could be modified by tiers i guess

They could make the item recharge percentage variable instead (ie. 15/20/25%)

  • It's probably not used enough for it to be a priority.

That said it absolutely needs to be reworked, it is the most unhealthy perk in the game right now.

  • They could definitely remove the cooldown from that perk, it's not necessary at all

  • Fwiw, there is currently no survivor perk that affects pallet stun duration.

Were you doing an orange glyph challenge in any of those games? That does make pallet stuns longer

  • Vanishing Box needed the nerf, though 80% may have been too harsh. 50% might be more appropriate.

As for Blurry Photo, they shouldn't add that power back into the addon, instead the basekit teleport recovery time should be reduced further. As it stands on the PTB, the basekit buff wasn't enough to make up for how much the addon was nerfed and it feels significantly worse to play compared to current live servers.

  • Yeah, this is probably the one and only thing I would want to see changed about chaos shuffle. I'm fine with No Mither existing for players who want the challenge, but getting it randomly just feels so awful and is too detrimental to feel fair even when the whole point is for the perks to be random.

how about we stop nerfing killer that are viable vs good players and focus on killer that are under-performing?

I mean they should buff the weaker killers too. That doesn't mean the stronger killers can't be too strong or need changes.

  • They need to get rid of Rat Poison and increase his cooldown by a couple of seconds.

Bringing back old Scamper would be a mistake, it was too unfair in a lot of situations and wasn't skill expressive at all for how strong it was. They also already tried nerfing Scamper before removing it and it didn't fix the issue. I don't think there's a point to where they can nerf it enough to make it fair without making it not worth using.

I do kinda hate how irrelevant Scamper is to his kit now for the most part though, that's an area I'd like them to buff him in especially with the other nerfs I mentioned already. Some addons that revolved around Scamper are also kinda weak now after his last set of changes and could use some adjustments (namely Running Shoes and Hard Hat).

  • Imo undo the movement speed nerf while checking the radar but slow her down more when deploying a drone

  • Recharge in chase is fine, but the recharge time should be reduced a little since that's a lot more situational.

Oh I know, it was an exaggeration. I was just asking if a survivor I'm not interacting with in any way could essentially take the activation away from the survivor that I was interacting with.

If they're close enough to you, then yes they could.

  • Yes, Bat Form is a little too strong now + the Shapeshift cooldown probably needs to be a bit longer. Reducing the cooldown in the 2-week hotfix patch did make him feel a lot smoother to play but unfortunately I think it also contributed to making him a bit overtuned. Maybe they could increase the shapeshift cooldown but only when switching to or from Bat Form specifically. The buffed cooldown when just switching from Vampire to Wolf or vice versa, isn't an issue.

  • No, I think 20 seconds is fine.

If anything were to be changed about exit gates it should be their spawn logic. Sometimes gates spawn super close together and other times they spawn miles apart. There shouldn't be so much variation in that imo, it should always be a middleground where gates can be realistically patrolled but while still offering the last survivor an opportunity to escape.

  • Iron Maiden has its niche on locker-reloading killers but other than that Discordance is by far Legion's best perk.

Compared to most info perks, Discordance also has the extra advantage of not being countered by any survivor perk and it's completely undetectable, there's no way for survivors to know for sure that you have it unless you make it really obvious.

  • I don't think Lightborn and Distortion are really comparable. Distortion countered dozens of perks and addons, Lightborn counters mainly 1 item and only a small handful of perks (I think 3 unless I'm forgetting something? Champion of Light/Residual Manifest/Flashbang). They're not really on the same level, Lightborn is a lot more specialized in what it does.
