Freddy is by far the weakest killer in the game. In low MMR this killer is supposedly a monster. But really, he is not in a good spot. That isn't even debatable.
He has no potential to play nasty, no potential to snowball, no power in early and end game, a lackluster anti-loop that we already know is objectively weak (check Clown for more information), the most counterplay out of any killer (literally anything you do will counter a Freddy to some capacity) and a lackluster teleport, that is also way too weak (check Dredge for comparison).
He also has no skill ceiling because there is no way to improve as Freddy. You can improve as a killer overall but there is no skill that you can master on this killer. Teleporting to a gen in front of a survivor is as easy as that and shouldn't work on at least 80% of all survivors (how much more indication can you need?) and his anti-loop does not allow any creative uses either.
If you play against bad survivors, then any killer is super strong. But even against somewhat decent survivors this killer falls behind quickly.
I don't understand. You're saying he's a pub stomper among lower mmr lobbies (the vast majority of players) but too weak for the top 5% players? That doesn't look like what you want is balance in my opinion, quite the contrary. Some people really don't to be challenged I guess.
-
Wow, those numbers are very low. I hope bhvr buffs survivors to compensate for it because it's not looking good.

That's totally nonsense. There are still many valid perks for survivors like WoO, resilience, deja vu, SB, lithe, OTR, etc... I thought everybody knows that devs don't favor specific role.
"Hey don't worry, there are still so many valid and fun perks to use like uhm....these 5 yo perks everyone uses already"
Meanwhile, killers only need to hit a gen/open a locker to get free aura reading.

Why did you prestige then??? Its literally JUST to show others. You have zero reason to do so past 3 on anyone other than show others. This is so disingenuous imo.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3584811#Comment_3584811
I love all the 'facts' you're throwing out. "All it does..." There's literally zero value" Makes killers decide who they're gonna tunnel"
This is all personal to the player. Your facts are still just your opinion. Valid in some cases, but no. Not all.
I want to show off my p100. Not due to ego, but I enjoy playing my one character and I like people knowing its my main. There's nothing negative about that. I do like the toggle idea. If I choose to put myself at rick for all those pseudo facts you spat, why can't I? If lobby dodging is the issue, BHVR should fix that, not bandaid it by punishing other players. This is literally a killer problem.
"but leave it for end match so those who feel the need to show it off can get their dopamine release from others seeing their achievements."
Another assumption. You're so far detatched...
Items. This change is coming anyway so you better cope with it.

Love how half the replies go "well, that's your opinion even if you're wrong😤", probably from people who can't spend a day without whining about getting 3k's instead of 4k's. Interesting

Whole community agrees that he is one of the if not the worst killer in the game, bhvr confirmed the rework, but okay if you think so
There's always a last one somewhere. If you want every single killer to be able to stomp entire teams at 5 gens, just say that?

I mean it may be too much, but it’s just an idea, same how survivors should remember where are pallets etc.. actually Freddy’s lunge is normal, it’s just that his weapon is his hand, so it looks extended when it’s actually not. But I’m curious, what would you do?
I wouldn't do anything, Freddy is in a good place. I have no trouble getting a few kills with him. Maybe you should readapt your playstyle.
-
100% agree. The survivors' HUD update was nice but it lacks a lot of element to make solo queue match swf in terms of information. I hope they fix this soon

Why not? I think that would be good
It's wayyy too much and the game wouldn't work with the fake loops since most people know what the maps look like by now and it would only be detrimental to new players who are still learning. The extended lunge already is a thing with Freddy anyway so let's not go further than that.
-
No to all of that. Thanks for your input tho

Here we go again. It's not the perks themselves, it's SWF. Always has been and always will be. Until it's either completely removed from the game, (which is unrealistic), or they start putting some heavy restrictions on it, the tap dancing BHVR will do to try to appease everyone will continue.
I mean, killers have been asking for this. Survivors adapted their playstyle and now killers don't want to adapt so they're asking for nerfs. Yawn. It they think Mft was bad, just wait.

In what way is that suggestion not fair? It lets buckle up protect the person being tunneled, turning it into a true anti-tunneling perk. That's what people are are pretending buckle up is for isn't it?
Nobody's pretending anything except you though. This combo exists because sometimes, just sometimes, survivor perks have synergy, this is what this game is about. If you keep losing your trials because of that, I don't see how that's the survivors' problem.

losing stacks to obsession mechanic is outdated. the perk should be buffed, not nerfed. Instead of losing stacks, it should not give any stacks for obsession hits. the perk tier could scale number of max stacks to 6/7/8.
I still think that survivor gain too much distance for hold-w with health-states. it's kinda silly that you waste 20 second of time for doing one of least skillful actions on survivor. m1 killer should not need to ideally be forced to run a perk to balance second-chancing. So at least 20% of stbfl should be base-kit before any nerfs to the perk happen.
for camping and tunneling off hook, they can simply invent survivor perks to specifically counter stbfl such as increased unhooking speed or a survivor perk that increases killer attack recovery time. I doubt survivor will use it but at least option should be there. I consider this a learn to play issue with bodyblocking however sometimes perks can fix learn to play issues when a player is poor at specific skill in the game.
You're hilarious.

The main difference between Otz and Cocolatte are the addons. Otz only uses yellow and brown addons for his streaks while Cocolatte used Denied Requistion Form and Soma Family Photo. This killer is ez mode if you run Denied Requistion Form and Soma Family Photo. I 3-4k most matches when I use these 2 addons. Don't use them and this killer is x5 harder.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3584241#Comment_3584241
Not really. The changes I suggest don't make him significantly stronger at 3 gening. As long as the EMPs are AOE and spawn as fast as they do currently, his 3 gen will be limited.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3584249#Comment_3584249
Most of the community, which is why no one plays him?
You're never gonna get a perfectly even spread of killer picks, especially when killers tend to gravitate towards the easiest mechanics. Some killers are harder to manipulate than others, that's just how it is.

There is also no rules about not using specific monitors that have that function build in or not using tape to have a spot in the middle of your screen... So it is allowed, and if that is allowed then you might as well use a Programm to achieve the same thing, because if you cannot do something against the result u might as well allow different ways to achieve it.
I have a simple question: does huntress have a crosshair in vanilla?
She doesn't, therefore you're giving yourself an advantage that shouldn't be in the game, simple as that.

I always love playing Deception, Head On, Quick & Quiet, with a random 4th depending on the mood. Locker builds are fun!
There are totem cleanse builds, loot goblin builds, you name it! Do you have perks you wish you had more synergy with others?
Locker builds are fun until you actually use them and head on a killer that is now going to tunnel you out of the game because they seemingly hate you for it.
What would be your chase oriented build of choice?

There's hard. Then there's too hard. There's obviously a problem if Otz, who has 11k hours and mastered most killers, can only average 3-4 wins on this killer. This killer will definitely get reworked in the future due to the low play rate, as most killers with a low pick have. Having a killer that virtually no one plays is a waste.
Too hard according to who? You? Lol. Win streaks aren't ground to built conversation, you're not supposed to get a 50 wins streak, whoever you are.

Given how the skeletons are adjusted for each survivor I also find it somewhat hard to understand that it seems impossible to adjust ada's skeleton in a way that the animations work with her wearing high heels (just treat it like a boot). The only issue I could see is with going back and forth between flats and heels if you have to adjust the height of the overall character (but doing some leg-trickery to just make the legs shorter seems like a solution that could work without anyone noticing). Then again: Ada wears heels exclusively and won't receive a ton of cosmetics like the non-DLC characters so you don't have to worry about cosmetics working together.
On point. You're right with the height, they already to that with characters wearing low boots with a bit of a heel so I have no idea why they can't do it with actual heels.
-
Just like MFT supposedly broke the rules of dbd, stbfl does the same thing but even worse. They shouldn't mess with core mechanics like hit cooldowns, especially when it can be abused so easily (a few stacks would deny even 2 people trying to unhook).
This perk is utterly unhealthy for the game and should be nerfed.
-
@Zenislev said:
Well, if people argue that it's an anti-tunneling perk, then buckle up would be fine if it only worked on the survivor that got picked up and only when it's used on them within, say, 30 seconds of being unhooked, right? That seems like a fair nerf to me.
No, it's not fair at all and they're not changing it.

And if the Killer doesnt tunnel and the Survivor still uses this combo?
"Because of X (problematic) is in the game, then Y (problematic) should also stay in the game" completely ignores the idea that either thing has a chance of not being present and should not be used for balancing (in my opinion).
Multiple things can be problematic, and they must be looked at independently of one another.
I'm sorry, all this time I was under the illusion that survivors were supposed to use perks at their advantage, my bad!
This is all very comical.

That would mean that looping in the early DBD games was cheating, because the devs did not account for the possibility of that being a thing...
Cheating always implies some form of rule broken in whatever way, and when there is no rule against certain things you are not cheating. Using a voice chat can basically never be cheating, that would be ridiculous the same for a crosshair, because you might as well just tape the middle of your screen or have a monitor with a build in crosshair.
In the rules of dbd vanilla, there is no crosshair for huntress. Therefore, it's cheating.
-
@FreddyVoorhees said:
Comms for swf are also not part of the game but external software and they use it since it is allowed. They do not feel they are cheating. Same way for cross hair. Use if it makes the game fun or less difficult for you. Given that dbd is casual and non competitive , it does not really matter.
Lol, there's always someone like you somewhere in the comments.

The stats show he has the 2nd lowest kill rate when the top 5% of players play him, so it doesn't seem like a skill issue. Even the top Bubba player struggles to win streak on him.
I mean, yeah, that's not surprising considering most bubba players rely on camping to get kills, they aren't interested in getting better at the game so those numbers make sense.
You're not supposed to be able to have 50 win streaks, which also makes sense.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3584159#Comment_3584159
The impact that would have on his pick rate would be... 0. If you've read any of the comments about him, no one plays him because of his high difficulty. Changing his addons, which I think are already strong, won't do much.
So you want to make him braindead to use because he has a low pick rate? That's not how it works. Some killers are easier to use than others and it's completely fine, just stick to wraith and move on.
-
@adsads123123123123 said:
Bubba was always a bad killer. People only picked him to face camp. Bubba actually has the 2nd lowest kill rate in high mmr. Now that camping has been nerfed, he needs buffs.
Firstly, Tantrum is far too punishing. Bubba has the most punishing power in the game. There is no other killer in the game that basically gets stunned for 8 seconds when they fail their power. Tantrum should be removed. Instead, Bubba should be temporarily slowed when he bumps. I discuss this here. Tantrum is far too difficult to avoid and is the main thing holding back most people from playing him. Even the top Bubba player in the world regularly bumps into walls, which just show how difficult it is to avoid bumping.
Secondly, his Sweep needs to be longer by default. Bubba is basically unplayable without Chilli since his Sweeps don't last long enough to get hits. Otz discuses this in his video.
This all sounds like a skill issue to me. He's fine, he doesn't need that. Besides, players who pick him are bad at the game anyway so let's not hand hold them even more.
-

There is very small difference in aura of disabled drone -> it gets sligthly higher. You can usually tell only if you look at it while survivor is disarming the drone.

(Not to mention the Venn diagram of people using both those expressions is basically a circle)
I've been lurking these forums from time to time during the last 2 years and this is spot-on, 100%. The amount of times I've witnessed killers playing real dirty when nobody even crouched is astonishing

I honestly don't think laziness is the factor here, nor is it primarily the money factor.
People often underestimate how difficult it can be to modify models/assets in games, even ones as simple as 2d games, if they don't have some form of base to use.
There's also the 2nd factor: DBD's code might as well be the example one should give when describing spaghetti code. They seldom make any changes without breaking something completely unrelated at the same time (how many times now were vaults broken, fixed, then broken again when the updates had nothing to do with vaults?). So I'm not exactly surprised BHVR is hesitant to make more changes than strictly necessary if there's no long-term objective or possibility of the majority of players appreciating it (sometimes ill-chosen but still, like who asked for only some people to be used as test dummies for hiding prestige? Why not just test it in a PTB or something? Lots of people on this very forum legit asked to no longer participate in that test).
It's likely they can in theory, you're probably right about that, but not enough people would really care to warrant the risk of breaking other things that will take dev-time and ressources to fix which reduces ressources that could be used for "bigger" things in their timetable (they are constantly on a timer after all).
Thanks for this reply! Very insightful. But very worrying for the future of the game if they keep adding code to an already unstable pile, who's to say the game won't break completely at some point?
-
You listed perks that can be used once after being unhooked, some deactivate during egc so no, you didn't provide anything worthy enough to talk about.

Of course since you've already shown to be incredibly assumptious about things you have no clue about like every other person who act like they're all the suddenly an expert at game development, i can almost guess what your response is gonna be, but let's see if you surprise me.
I'm not a Dev, I have 0 reason to know any of this. What I can tell is that characters wearing heels are a thing in multiplayer games, everywhere. Considering that bhvr has done stuff in the past that didn't exactly make them money either but still did it, i don't believe it has anything to do with laziness, it's just not a high priority.
Also easy to claim laziness when we don't know what exactly it takes to update an already old game that didn't start out with basic features found in other games.
Which is what you get with a lazy team that doesn't know how to code properly and breaks simple mechanics randomly with each update. Sounds like a skill issue from their part.

3 of these perks/mechanics are only available to survivors after being unhooked, so no, I don't know what you're talking about.

@Smoe said:
how come so many games can do it but dbd can't?
Because games are not the same and all are build differently, with some games being able to support such features as they were build with it in mind from the beginning, while other games such as dbd, it was never thought about such things to begin with and needs to create the things that are needed to support it.
That's not to say they can't do it, but with a game that was never originally intended to have it, it's not exactly as easy as one would think it is.
A lot of things previously deemed impossible were found to be integrated in the game years later. I'm gonna go ahead and say what I truly think: bhvr is lazy. They can do it, it's possible and we know it. They just don't want to bother because they don't see the money in it.
