I would be fine if people are doing this because they need stuns/blinds for challenges, but sadly this mechanic is purely used to be toxic.

This is as toxic as a killer using Pop on a 99d generator in a survivor’s face. Thus it is not toxic. You just got outplayed man, get over yourself. It is Blastmine.

Same, I'm really confused what is taking them so long to remove it. It's been posted here for a long time now and there is no response about it. Never have I seen one person say they like it.

FWIW it doesn't make me play more, but less. I reach iri 1 without caring, but depipping is outdated and needs to go.

Agreed. Depipping is very unmotivating. If anything, its existance makes me play less and not more.

  • All of the recent cosmetics have been great. No idea what you are on about.

  • I experience it at least once a day as well. Similar on the bloodpoint loss. No acknowledgement as of yet sadly.

Imma be real with you, when I play survivor I only play SoloQ, even though you have less chances to win as a SoloQ player, it's nowhere as stressful as playing killer.

I beg to differ. I find playing a game with potato teammates (which is a good chunk of my game) pretty stressful.

  • Have you played SoloQ? My matches are seldomly relaxed.

You are projecting and putting words or assumptions in my mouth. Neither did I say that I wanted to "win" or "4K" bu playing relaxed, nor that I wanted a 4K to be giving to me or easy.

But most players agree that if you put in the hours and acquired a certain skill set or experience, that you should win against less skilled opponents.

But should I chose to play relaxed and "only for fun", not only do I lose the match, I would probably finish it with 2 hooks max on two different survivors.

Splitting up on gens, btw, is not a tactic only employed by SWFs premades, its employed by basically all players, solo, duo or quadro, above a certain skill level. This tactic wasn't widespread in the past, but it is now, and this skill won't be unlearned by the community any time soon.

To claim it is otherwise is either very naive, honestly failing to see the reality of ggf situation or purposefully misleading in order to drive ones own agenda. Not knowing you I will opt for option 1 or 2.

There are solutions to this problem, but it's not an easy fix by tweaking some numbers, it would need a big health update and change several things at once, not one after another, by both, nerfing survivors ability to slam gens at a breakneck speed and giving killers a true incentive to leave unhooked survivors and spreading their love, and this is probably impossible with he current release cycle of 3 month. For a true health update BHVR would need to skip at least one regular chapter, and that's just impossible.

There is already a solution, it's called Deadlock. It works wonders for me.

And If I play "relaxed", I usually still kill 2 survivors.

Why would you care about the outcome if it is only about playing "relaxed"?

Awwww thanks <3. I will give it some thoughts :)

My biggest gripe right now is, how rediculously easy it is for survivors to slam the first 3 gens, just by splitting up. Sometimes the killer can apply some pressure to a different gen, but if he doesn't commit to any chase and just wound a couple of survivors, then nothing is gained and all gens currently worked it will continue to get pressured the moment he turns his back to them.

Survivors no longer gang up on gens at the start, everyone looks for their own gen and works on them and if the first chase involves even one mistake, you as the killer lose one mind game or even lose the survivor, then its pretty much "gg" to the three gens that you couldn't interfere with.

Back in the days survivors would happily work on gens together or go totem hunting or open chests, now they are most of the time laser focued on doing gens and the first 3 gens are 9/10 times done before you get the second hook. This is never a pace that the game was designed around, but when I tried to discuss this I was (unsurprisingly) met with a lot of opposition, "you want survivors to purposefully play bad and not split up?" or "you just want slow gens so that you can 4K every game".

Yes, I still win more games then I lose, but only by playing scummy AF and only by sweating and stressing like mad. There are no chill killer matches. EVER. And thus I can never really relax my stance in a match and maybe meme around. Add to this that de-pipping is still a thing and I often feel like I just can't afford to go easy on struggling survivors and you get a recipe for killers going sour and bitter, becoming merciless killing machines. Duh.

It is a 4V1, it shouldn’t be easy to 4K. Do you hear yourself, matches should be relaxed? If you could win by playing “relaxed” and 4K, that would mean the killrate would be between 90-100%.

I do agree generators flying by coordinated premades are a problem. Addressing this will make SoloQ near impossible.

Posts like this make me really consider starting to stream. I might not be an Otzdarva or SpookyLoops but I don't have that much more room to grow. In my games I just can't go for 8 hooks before killing and the last time I let a player on deathhook purposefully get away and spared them, I was rewarded with them joining the gen slamming session and doing the part just as good as anyone not hooked yet. Tunneling isn't just "a cheap trick employed by killers unwilling to improve", nor is it the "be all, end all tacti ", but it's often a necessity in today's meta in order to not getting swept away.

If I can win with a mediocre Myers build on most of my matches, so should anyone. Either you keep playing killers you are not good with or you have to develop more of a game sense. Yes, some maps are a loss and you cannot win them all (esp. against a good SWF) but if you cannot win most of your matches it is a you problem, sorry.

And no matter the state of the game, people always keep crying “they need to tunnel and camp to win”. Just get better.

  • @Etherelda said:

Tunneling is a requirement now to score at least 1K against a semi-competent survivor team.

If you’re facing a semi-competent survivor team hard tunneling will get you 1K because they all know how to loop and will keep you busy while the other teammates sit on generators. It is really just stomping inexperienced solo players or people fooling around.

Hard tunneling in all reality is just a cheap trick used by people too incompetent to play killer but still want and need to win. And Behaviour enables it by not patching it out. Leading to sour games where you ruined people’s fun. Because 1 person gets no play time and the others get 0 chase time.

One of the most laughable thing in this game is people not wanting to grow and get more skillful, but just want the easiest win. And they cannot even tell you why they want to win so desperately. I have never seen a skilled player tunnel outside of comp, simply because they did not need to or they just except they can get outplayed.

This game is going to ######### because of the community. It is funny how before the “big update” very little people tunneled, yet generator times were shorter. Generator regression was at the same level it is now. So people back then had no excuse and nothing has really changed. Oh, and there were more casual players. I wonder what drove them off.

But but... this person said that ALL face campers went deathslinger. EVERY ONE OF THEM. And it must be fact, they said it. lol. What a joke. If people want to camp, they are better off using the Hag, her power still works fine at the hook.

Hag is too complicated for people to use. And it’s called a trend. Not every camper used to play Bubba but plenty did. You see the same thing happening now with Deathslinger. Just like pre-patch more and more people were playing Skull Merchant to 3-gen. I haven’t seen a replacement for that one but sure someone will figure it out soon enough.

And to other people in this thread: Oh, and the only thing they "nerfed" was actually a bug fix. His M2 did not have a cool down period which it was supposed to have. I am sorry Behaviour took away y'all's broken toy.

Incorrect. They fixed a bug that wasn't applying slowdown, and then drastically increased the slowdown on top of that.

No, they brought him to where they wanted him to be from the beginning

  • She is boring to face, yes. You need to grab a tape. After that her teleporting doesn't do anything anymore. From that moment onwards, you just loop her like a M1-killer.

  • Hex Ruin should have never gotten nerfed. I agree, it is too weak and killers should have multiple forms of slowdown to choose from. The only reason against it could be it being too oppressive after the Pain Res/Pop changes/buffs. Imagine having to find and cleanse Ruin and then facing a strong killer who still has Pain Res and Pop... No thanks.

I agree with the notion that Alien in Crawler Mode should feel very powerful. The point is that Survivors need to force it out of it's power.

BHVR changing the turret radius was good, but still caved to people complaining about not being able to loop Xeno like they loop Nemesis or PH, instead of developing any skills with the things BHVR provided by design.

That would be fine if turrets would be actually doing their job. Run that green add-on (emergency helmet), and you can run into a turret, get blasted, take it out and still be in crawler mode. But the turrets, even well placed ones, don't do that half of the time. And you also need to account for most players being solo and thus not coordinated.

And to other people in this thread: Oh, and the only thing they "nerfed" was actually a bug fix. His M2 did not have a cool down period which it was supposed to have. I am sorry Behaviour took away y'all's broken toy.

  • He, that’s my idea! Seriously though, I fully agree with the hex change. I proposed exactly the same thing 6 months ago. No response from the developers, nothing indicating they will change it. Back then also everyone agreed it would be a good change.

  • None, luckily. I dislike going against Alien. Nothing about his gameplay excites me

  • This game excels at keeping stuff in the game that favours one side by a large margin. The ultimate fix would be to balance maps. However, given their track record and recent rebalancing that will not happen. Until then, it should be easy to change map offerings into map ban offerings. Whatever you burn, you will not get send to. To avoid SWFs abusing it, only one map offering will be taken into consideration from each side.

    +1

It amazes me how much people want to have their hands held in this asymmetrical game.

Got forbid people want a fair game and not be speared by a Deathslinger coming off hook (which is what all the face campers switch to by the way). Not every team is on comms or competent to deal with it either.

Unfortunately staying on top of cheaters and hackers is not an easy task for any modern game developer, you say to just have a anti cheat system like any normal game, but obviously those games like any other have cheats and hackers too. Indeed dbd has a system, but cheaters come back they always come back, its an industry and mad players want to pay to cheat. This is why modern anti-cheat is a ongoing effort fighting until the end of days.

What improvements would you suggest to the current system tho?

At this point it feels like they have no system in place and everything has to be reported manually. I imagine that there are common "cheats" people use meaning the same code/program. Once one hacker is caught, the system should scan for people using that program/code.

  • But their Excell spreadsheet says no! /s

Seriously though, they made some huge mistakes last year with the changes they made but are to cowardly to admit.

  • I used to see them a lot but they all disappeared. No idea why.

They make it waaaay to easy for you survivors ..... ya always say we camp and tunnel and blah blah blah ... so what are we supposed to hook ya and run to the other side of the map toet your buddies free you ? It like fishing man , we know your coming for them and our main goal is to stop you from WINNING .... You have annoying pallets, flash lights , flash bangs , that powder bomb , invincibility , plus 3 other teammates helping you . Plus killers are slow as all hell compared to you survivors ... gets very frustrating for a killer , hook you and run to the other side of the board just so your teammates can unhook u ? Not saying to face camp but at least look around in the area since we know help is on the way +3 . Smh

Once you hook someone you’re supposed to find someone else and chase them. If I can win most of my matches with a basic Meyer’s build, so should you.

  • @Garboface said:

I have seen this happen as well. especially when a survivor approaches and points at a hook. I just slug them because they shouldn't be cueing up in the first place. at which point, twice in two days, I get the "servers not responding" message and dc'd.

I just another match where it happened. A Blight tunnelled out two people. When one of a duo died, boom, same DC/server crashed message.

  • I have had 5x the server crashed in the last two days. I have no idea what is going on (West/Central Europe).

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Man, you people really need to stop suspecting cheaters all the time. Servers crashing is quite common since 7.3.0 dropped and BHVR 100% needs to fix this ASAP. (or at the very least, disable the DC-Penalty for the time being)

But this does not mean that you face cheaters all the time who do this.

The game crashing the second you hook the last survivor? And it happening to multiple people? If it’s not a cheater I’ll just go buy my lottery ticket. Seriously though, the probably found a way to overload the server and make the game crash

  • I had exactly the same thing the other day. I feel it was a cheater. It happened the moment I hooked the last survivor. My game froze, and I got kicked. My internet is always fine, I never crash. I have send a clip and report to Behaviour, they are looking into it.

  • To simply answer your question. I have played killer two nights in a row now four hours each night. I have 3K hours but for the last month I have played 90% survivor. So I am a bit rusty at killer. I have played Skull Merchant, Myers and another M1 killer (1 match, don’t remember whom). I have played casually, meaning 2 hooks each before finishing people off. I went into the void most times. And guess what? I 4Kd every match! Well, 3Kd mostly because in the majority of the matches I let the final survivor get hatch or a gate because it is an event. Everyone walks away with a lot of points, everyone had fun and everyone pipped. I have only met 2-3 real sweat SWFs, eveybody else was solo or casually playing. You do not have to choose between one and the other. Stop playing as if your life depends on it and relax. Oh, and before you ask. These are my builds:

    • Skull Merchant: Corrupt, STBFL, Pain Res and Dead Lock
    • Myers: Bam, Dead Lock, Jolt and Corrupt
  • @CLHL said:

Survivors have become more greedy and repair until the last moment before attempting the rescue, because they think it will be easy now that the AFC system is in place. And you know what? It's the opposite, the killer will come back to secure the kill. This has made the killer more efficient, because they camp when necessary and not by default.

Most of the times killers just proxy a hook waiting for the unhooker and hit them before getting to the hook. They are glued to it because it is a lazy and easy way to play that pays off. The scenario you painted however is very rare and would less frustrate me because that is on the survivors.

  • @Yippiekiyah said:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again the best way to reduce camping is to change the maps so that killers can actually win chases.

I never camp and win a majority of my games. The reason people camp and tunnel is because they suck at the game but still want to win through the cheesiest of ways instead of improving their skills. And the developers enable them by allowing this cheese.

  • It seems fixed. I just received my milestone points and the first reward.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

I assume its because they brought a dowsing rod and someone else brought a cake or party streamer. I got 177k because of that situation earlier.

I am also bringing dowsing rods. And I cannot get past 80K. And these amount of bloodpoints I mentioned are without other BP offerings incl.

  • @Mandy said:

This was never meant to address camping as a whole. This is purely with regards to face-camping, so the killer within a specific range which pretty much prevented saves being made...and it seems that that side is working. If killers are standing further away, then there's opportunity for the survivors to make a save.

Wow, yes...amazing saves! Pyramid Head waiting to shoot his trail, Deathslinger spearing you the moment you get off and wait out the endurance and so on and so on. Playing survivor is still depressing with little chase and a lot of camping. Why is this the only game that thinks spawn trapping (which it essentially is) is ok? It is just peak flawed design and the reason plenty of players get fed up and quite the game.

  • @catfam05 said:

Our experience yesterday was awful. Every killer we had camped at a safe distance and came right back to the hook. When our perks made it so they couldn't get the double hook or death we were all slugged. I couldn't collect hardly anything at all was a waste of time to play. Why does the game have to end so fast on either side. We like to extend play as long as we can sabo, help carried survivor wiggle out, one person staying on gens. Makes for a longer game but typically end up slugged. Would love it if they added something where the killer cannot drop you anymore. Like if they drop you instead of laying on the ground you are able to hit the ground running. Or if I am completely healed and get pulled off a pallet and you drop me or I wiggle out why am injured you never hit me just grabbed me. Not saying it is a perfect idea just a thought.

Because the developers refuse to balance out their game, despite the majority of players wanting them to. There is no reason camping, tunneling, excessive slugging and generator rushing are still a thing. Idealy, every one gets a fair amount of gaming time.

You don't have to sweat. Hell, I've been able to rack up a huge chunk of void energy without killing anyone.

Every event it is the same. People come back and play at their most dickish just to ruin other people's experience. And with a developing team that seems fine with the amount of unsportsmanlike behaviour that is available in this game, they are successful at it. I mean, a large chunk of the player base including myself are not excited anymore for events because of how other people keep ruining your games. How sad is that?

  • I started playing the event yesterday as a killer. I had fun.

Switch to survivor today. What an unfun experience to say the least. Every game is a S-tier killer that camps and tunnels.

I am already over this event. I will play the tomes to get the cosmetics and then exit.

  • The idea behind the event is to have fun and enjoy a different mechanic. If you want to play competitively, then ignore the void and play normally.

  • I have played killer all evening and all my matches have been enjoyable. The void is very small and you do not have to go in and chase them.

  • I came her for exactly the same reason. I am not getting milestone points either. So far I have collected Knight's body, Dredge's and Skull Merchant's weapon and the Huntress Werewolf charm (4 points).

To help you out Mandy (and us), I completely restarted the game and it did not fix the problem.

So you're saying that a good survivor is just a good gambler. Perhaps each of us sees the world differently.

Being a good survivor means good pathing and good looping. 50-50ing on every pallet does not equal looping.

  • @xltechno said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/394437/your-new-map-design-is-horrid

First, if the map is large, M1 killer will be at a relative disadvantage, increasing the chance of encountering nurse and blight. If you have no complaints about that, I think you can make the map wider.

Next, the Nostromo Wreckage has many palette loops that require skill, but the degree to which they can be used depends on the survivor's skill level. In fact, there are many survivors who can successfully loop even against good killers.

    1. These maps are so small you have 4 generators next to each other. New Borgo is a great example.
    2. Nostromo’s pallets don’t require skill but gambling. Just fake until the killer takes a swing and hope their ping is low. Every gym has gaps in it so you cannot really loop as the killer just walks through. There is no shack. And you get stuck on all the clutter everywhere. It is a horrible map against most killers.

The only thing wrong is your understanding of how the system works.

After several minutes, if the MMR system can't find a suitable match, it expands parameters until it essentially has no restriction.

Matching a 3k hr player with a 200hr player isn't "something going wrong", it's the system working as intended, if there happens to be no suitable matches for one or both of those players currently in a queue. You can't match with people who doesn't exists.

Yeah, only I keep matching with these “new” survivors within 2 minutes. So no, the game isn’t beyond any threshold where it will expant its parameters.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3564996#Comment_3564996

I've seen those statements, but I think there's a really bizarre assumption among players and developers that the matchmaking issue is binary: that we have the current near free-for-all or queues that ages for perfect placement. People aren't necessarily asking for the latter. If you parse most of these threads, people are mostly asking to not be thrown into instant queues for garbage quality games. Why can't we wait a minute for a better match? Still not perfect, but not the 10 minute cutscenes solo players are getting way too often. Yes, players said they wanted faster queues. They also know nothing about developing a game or designing a matchmaking system. A doctor typically doesn't just prescribe whatever the patient asks for.

Amen. This is what I would like as well. I wouldn't mind waiting a couple of minutes more and have a more fair match.

Currently, this is DBD in a nutshell and the reason the game is going to ######### (and yes, player numbers are dropping fast):

    1. SoloQ: bad matchmaking, potato teammates
    2. SWF: walk in the park, grossly overpowered
    3. Killer: Overpowered SWF's on comms

    Fun...

  • @Seraphor said:

Matchmaking never has and never will be able to translate into a consistent gameplay experience. Unless you're at the highest, most sweat-filled 1% and utilising every benefit the game can give you.

You can 'win' in any number of ways using any number of fair or cheap tactics, and there's no viable way to differentiate between them in a way the game can track and therefore use to inform matchmaking.

The problem is that MMR, in any form, is so disconnected from actual player behaviour and skill that it has little baring on the game. You can have a pefect MMR match up be entirely one-sided because the killed tunneled or the survivors were a SWF, or you can have a 200 hour matched with a 2000 hour player and have the best game ever.

All of the work done by SBMM can be completely undone by one side playing 'unfairly' or simply in an unpopular way.

At what point do we stop blaming 'matchmaking' and accept that the problem is other players playing in ways we don't like, and therefore accept that the real problem is 'us' and our inability to adapt to different players and different playstyles?

People want this to be a 'casual' game, and yet get triggered when they're eliminated early or lose in any way. If you want to sweat, sweat, and get to the top 5% and enjoy your SWF v Nurse/Blight hell. If you want a casual game, accept that you're going to have a ton of games where you don't win, against a random assortment of varying skill levels.

I am sorry but this is nonsense. If I have 3K hours and am matched with people who have 200 hours, something is wrong with the game. If I am matched with people who play the game by doing generators and chases but have no idea how to loop and go down in 10 seconds, they are not of my skill level. There is something very wrong with SBMM and I have personally witnessed it significantly decline in the past two months. Yes, it has always been wonky but never this bad.

My most recent DbD rage quit actually came on my first game of the day over the weekend. Took first chase against Wesker. Chained an L/T to log pallet to main building on Yamaoka for 2 gens. Didn't get touched for 2 whole gens. Wesker leaves me. Within the next 45 seconds, 2 teammates are slugged and one d/cs.

Matchmaking for solo queue is so unacceptably bad right now. How is it this bad? Is it even turned on? Is there matchmaking even happening for solo players? Why do more competitive solo players not matter? How many threads of this topic do we need before we even get a SoonTM?

It is really bad. Just had two games back to back where I matched complete bots. I ran the Ghostface for 3 generators, they lasted 30 seconds or less. I do feel it is dropping players numbers and the system still prioritizing instant queuing times. Would rather wait 5 min

  • It is just very demotivating losing so many matches because of teammates being so bad

  • @Nazzzak said:

"If I am matched with other players of my skill level, I win 70-80% of matches. But currently I escape maybe 30-40% of them"

This is why the matchmaking is bad. It's by design. Devs aim for around 60% kill rate for killers, and 40% escape rate for survivors. Now say you go and find yourself a swf. You're bypassing the bad matchmaking and finding people more on par with yourself skillwise, which increases your escape rate. To supplement your more frequent wins, others have to die to keep escape rates low and kill rates high. Hence, we get purposeful bad matchmaking in solo. The devs aren't likely to improve matchmaking for that reason.

Maybe. I feel it is a combination of less players being online at the same time combined with more people playing as premades making the pool of solo survivors smaller. Not everybody has to be equal in skill but the variety I get in matches Is ridiculous. I am now frequently matched with people who last for less than 1 generator against a M1 killer on a map where all pallets are still up. Like, how?
