Why would BHVR be honest about it? They still want you to believe they give a crap about the Survivor experience despite making it one of the least fun experiences in all of gaming.
-
Cause gen rushing isn't a thing. All Survivors can do is work on generators and loop the Killer - that's it. Killers have several methods of sacrificing Survivors, along with various crap to make it easy: Various killer powers that range from BS speed to one shot downs, add-ons that make the match impossible for Survivors, perks that either make it more difficult or straight up impossible to loop the Killer, perks that make it to where you can't open the door or escape, etc. Not to mention, Killers are actively allowed to do toxic crap like tunneling, camping and slugging, and are even encouraged to do so, while Survivors are frequently punished for wanting to do anything in the game. The change that made it to where Survivors spawn together yet has a high chance of spawning the killer right next to the Survivors? Yeah, that was so that Survivors couldn't work on different gens at different points in the map quickly. Yet BHVR refuses to do anything to alleviate the BS that they encourage.
-
I mean, the fact that they allowed a crap system that affected Survivors go all the way through the PTB until the anniversary event, yet responded quickly when people complained about not liking the Houndmaster anniversary skin should tell you where their priorities are. They don't care about feedback from Survivors, so why would they keep the thing that let Survivors tell them how unfun the game is?
I mean, the fact they have to bribe people to even play Survivor, yet refuse to do anything to fix the issues Survivors have been having should tell you everything you need to know.
-
Doesn't really matter. Regardless of how cool or bad the designs of the survivor and killer are, the survivor is going to have perks that will only be good in niche builds or niche situations, while the killer will get perks that make it even harder for the survivors to even exist. Not to mention the killer will likely end up overpowered, yet will be called weak by Killer mains because they're not getting 4Ks every match with them. And, in all likelihood, the killer will be riddled with bugs that the developers will ignore and let pass through the PTB.
-
@Landmine said:
i disagree with this, i think the event is pretty fun as survivor and i play both sides very equally. actually, i feel like i've been escaping easier while playing in the event mode because of the survivor things.
Escaping means nothing if the match wasn't fun. I just finished the one forced Survivor challenge after facing four sweaty Killers, of which I escaped once - yet none of those matches were fun, with the worst match being the one I did escape. That's the problem - too many people, the awful devs included, think "Escape Rate" = "Fun," when that is far from reality. Defeat can be just as fun as winning so long as the balance is right, yet the devs repeatedly make the game lopsided so much that even winning as Survivor feels empty.
-
I doubt it matters what they do next year, it'll be the same crap as always. The event will only be fun as Killer and an absolute chore as Survivor because BHVR does not care about the Survivor experience.
-
I'd be surprised, but the developers have made it abundantly clear that they don't care about the Survivor experience. Anyone who says otherwise is simply deluding themselves.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/449242/survivor-is-unplayable
I completely agree that the AFK crows is terrible and needs to be nuked, but survivor isn’t “unplayable”. The average escape rate for solo queue is 40%. I’m by no means a great player and I manage to escape around 40% of the time according to my stats. I just played three solo queue matches tonight and escaped all three. I have some unfun stretches, but some good ones too.
What is your escape rate? If it’s near or above the 40% average, the problem isn’t game balance - it’s your expectations. If you’re escaping below the average, then work in improving your gameplay. If a casual, middle-aged player like myself can do it, anyone can.I don't care about escaping, I care about having fun. I can just as easily have fun losing as I can escaping - that's not the issue. The issue is how unbalanced the experience has become, to the point where it's damn near impossible to even have fun in defeat, and where escaping barely feels enjoyable either. Survivor has become a chore thanks to all the reasons I listed, because BHVR thinks it's more important for the Killer to have fun than it is for everyone to have fun.
There's nothing fun about being camped, there's nothing fun about being tunneled, there's nothing fun about being slugged, and there's nothing fun about any of the changes they made this patch. Yet, BHVR doesn't care - they even encourage Killers to do these toxic strategies, while Killer mains complain about "Gen Rushing," which is the dumbest claim of toxicity out there.
Additionally, there's nothing fun or fair about the fact that, with their new DC penalty / banning system. Yes, if you DC you should be punished, but being forced to sit in the game while your penalty goes on is beyond braindead. And the fact you can be banned for dying within a certain amount of time is also stupid as all heck. I've already seen how people have had to deal with this when all they suffered was being tunneled out quickly by the Killer. One side should never have the ability to get someone else punished by the system. It's like BHVR never thinks these patches through.
And it's not like the AFK crows weren't complained about from the PTB - BHVR just didn't care, making the whole point of the PTB null.
-
So, in your opinion, survivors should be even further punished if they decide to stay in a match where someone DCed, while killers get buffed even further, and have the game made even easier for them than it already is? Basically, you want your hand held even more. What, do you have a hand holding fetish, or do you just suck at the game?
-
You want to fix this? Instead of punishing survivors further, BHVR should actually make a 2v1 winnable. The moment it gets to 2v1, it's the survivor's loss. The only thing you can do is hope the other survivor is caught first and that the hatch spawns near you.
-
The only reason camping, tunneling, and slugging are done is because the crap players who use such tactics aren't punished for it. That's it. BHVR endorses these strategies, and doesn't give two craps about the survivor experience. They make more money off of killers, so they only care about whether the killers are having fun, rather than the game being fun for everyone.
-
First, killers are already over powered, they don't need BBQ to be base kit. In fact, killers shouldn't even have aura reading perks.
Second, average killers are capable of killing survivors faster using hooks than slugging with ever be - put a survivor on hook three times, and they're dead, and that's if they don't give up. The only killers who think slugging is an okay thing to do are bad killers.
Third, hook placement is done is such a way where wiggling is useless. There is always a hook nearby, and even more so now that they respawn even after being used to kill a survivor.
Fourth, slugging has only become rampant because there's nothing to defend against it on the survivor's side, and bad killer are taking advantage of it. That's it - good killers don't need to slug.
-
Prestige is unimpressive regardless of whether it's killer or survivor. All it means it you sank a lot of BP into that character's tree - it's not indicative of your actual skill.
-
Killers don't get a give up button because killers are already over powered, and more likely to get a 4K than the survivors are at escaping. Until BHVR starts making the game fair for survivors, killers don't deserve anything, because they already get everything. They just buffed Dredge - who didn't need a buff in the first place - and now he's impossible to face. They just buffed Twins - when they didn't need a buff - and they're even worse to face. Even the killers the community considers weak have too much power.
-
@Rugalraim said:
You can't stop someone from giving up in the first place. They need a penalty but I don't know how.
Considering how over powered killers are, there shouldn't be a penalty. Until BHVR does something to make the survivor experience fun again, survivors should be allowed to give up or leave - it's only fair, since BHVR is okay with killers being toxic.
-
I'd make it to where slugging was impossible. You want a 4K? Actually work for it instead of taking the easy way out.
-
It's always toxic - no exceptions. It's a cowardly tactic used by crap killers.
-
Prestige was always meaningless. All being a P100 meant was that you sunk a lot of BP into that character - doesn't mean crap about whether you're good at the game or not.
-
I've stopped blaming people for giving up. Killers are too OP and the devs don't give a crap about the survivor experience. This game has grown to be dog water, only fun when you're the killer. Bad behavior is endorsed by the devs, killer mains refuse to acknowledge the power of every killer just because they would prefer to always get 4Ks rather than everyone having fun.

Puh. I dont know, I would not be excited for such a Chapter.
We have an original Killer who is basically an Onryo with Spirit AND we have Sadako who is even called "The Onryo". And Sadako already was one of the least hype chapters, even tho this was mostly due to the fact that it is the Japanese Original and not the US version and that it was announced so early.
I dont think that a third Onryo-like Killer would really be exciting.
First, they're not "Onryo-like", all three just are onryo - female vengeful spirits. It's what an onryo is.
Second, Kayako would 100% play different from the others. Not only does she mainly crawl and use her hair in her kills, able to pop up in the randomness of places, but she can also be paired with Toshio. I could see having, maybe, two - three abilities for her, such as the ability to teleport or phase through objects (it'd have to be or the other, cause both would be too strong), something to do with her hair, and the ability to use Toshio - who I could being a case of sending him out and him popping up at a random survivor and then giving away their location, or being an obstacle on the map that spawns randomly that makes you scream.
Third, just because the game already has one type of killer doesn't mean they have to limit themselves to never using that genre again, so long as the killer plays different. Hopefully fair and not too strong and not too weak, but plays different.

There is an equal chance for both the win at the start, you can't expect that equal chance to maintain throughout the whole game even at the end
Not much of an equal chance when the doors spawn near each other or the map is insanely small. Not much of an equal chance when the killer can close the hatch when the doors are right next to each other. Not much of an equal chance when survivors have to do more than the killer to escape. Not much of an equal chance when BHVR encourages and approves of toxic strategies like slugging and camping.
In an ideal situation, both the killer and the survivors have a chance to win - the survivors always has the same probability of escaping as the killer has of getting a 4K. However, that ideal situation doesn't exist for the majority of the play time because BHVR prefers to cater to killers. Aura reading perks, gen regression perks, perks that can block pallets and windows and the exit gates themselves, perks that render items useless and even dangerous for the survivor to be near, as well as the multitude of powers the killers have in their base kits that allow them to be way, way faster than survivors, down them in one hit, kill them without hooking them, or straight ignoring pallets and window vault - the only thing survivors have to defend themselves.
Right now, you're more likely to get a 4K as a survivor than you are to escape a trial. There is no equal chance for both sides because BHVR only cares about the side that makes them more money because of collab killers.
-
@fussy said:
Game should give me a third and guaranteed chance to escape after me lost match and hatch!!!1!! Or better just spawn me at the exit gates from the start of the match!!! And deliver me pizza, I order you!!!!
There should always be an equal chance for both sides to win. Wanting the game to be fair is not some outlandish want.
-
I don't care what killer mains say, slugging, camping and tunneling should be bannable offenses.
-
@Tyler3 said:
Sometimes, both exit gates spawn almost next to each other. As a survivor, how is it possible to escape in this situation? Sometimes the gates are so incredibly close together, that the killer has a clear line of sight of both and can walk to either in about 10 seconds.
Unfortunately I don't have any photo evidence so you're just gonna have to take my word, but one time I was in a match and both gates spawned DIRECTLY next to each other. They were literally touching. As you can imagine there was absolutely nothing I could do and so the killer hooked me.
The gates should never be able to spawn on the same side of the map.
To be frank, it's game design like this and many others, that make it clear the devs don't give two craps about survivors. They might throw one or two good perks at the survivors to make it seem like they care, but they cater way more towards the killers. Why else would there be small maps, maps where the exit gates spawn next to each other, a chance for the hatch to spawn right next to the killer, killers having insanely powerful base kits without perks or add ons, and BHVR being okay with and encouraging toxic behavior like slugging, tunneling, and camping.
It's not fun to play as survivor anymore.

Well, yes,
I can see where this is going, and I'm seriously worried right now. Here some things….
2v8 let's start with that:
Fun modifier, feels like Survivors in a arcade mode or Killers on steroids. Some like it, some don't. I'm someone who doesn't like this mode, and I have different reasons why. But thats just my Opinion. Dont worry.
"Your reactions to 2v8 over the last two weeks have blown us away, and we've heard your calls for the mode to be extended beyond its planned end date loud and clear."
Wait a minute, did I read "your call"? I'm not one of them and I have a problem with such statements because they usually refer to us or a large proportion of us.
What about those who agree with me exactly? Are they now unimportant?
The waiting times in 1vs4 mode are just impossible and I don't fancy such long Qs. I'm sorry, but extending the event is just a terrible decision and I'll be glad when it's over. Until then I will take a break...The next thing: the store and the outfits
I understand very well that tastes are different, and I can definitely understand if someone likes an outfit or not, but what I see lately are just a bunch of colorful, glittery and shiny bling bling outfits....
Where is this going or what does it have to do with style? In any case, you can't hide well with these outfits.
Now you could argue: If you don't like it, don't buy it. Don't worry, I won't do that either, but if you compare the outfits of the last few months with those of today, a trend is emerging.
And what about killer outfits like the Dredge? A buddy of mine bought "Crustacean Threat" and what can I say? You can't see anything because the whole screen is full with stuff. What were the developers thinking? You spend so much money and then you get something like this. In any case, my buddy is visibly unhappy.
The next thing: veins on prestige weapons
For heaven's sake, please remove them finally from the weapons. A lot of people and I like to play with prestige weapons, but do they have to have pink veins? That's so unrealistic. I thought the developers wanted to put more emphasis on realism in the future ? Error display
Now I've moaned and groaned so much. Will this change anything?
I hardly think so. Do I feel better now? Not really
Perhaps someone would like to write something positive about it or prove me wrong.
I dont know 🙄
The biggest difference is that Fortnite is actually fun.
-
No. Killers are too strong, survivor isn't fun or rewarding to play, and there are far too many toxic players. And BHVR has zero plans to fix any of the problems this game has.

2v8 is unplayable garbage. Unbalanced, unfun garbage. Every match I did was filled with more sweat than I normally encountered in a normal match, regardless of if I was survivor or killer. And that's IF I got to play as killer, since the queue times were so bad. It was the worst thought out game mode I have every experienced in any game I've ever played, and I've played a lot of games. Bloody Overwatch - the king of terrible game design - has better thought out modes than 2v8 was.

I don't think BP is an issue any more, but what does having LoS on them have to do with anything? You are locked into an animation, blinded, and locked into another stun animation. How does seeing them do all of this have anything to do with countering it?
On topic, flashbangs aren't really fun to deal with but they aren't impossible. If you know someone is trying to go for the save the best thing to do is either slug or try and bait them out by faking the pick up. Harder with BP because they can be further away, but usually chasing them away just a small amount can make it so they don't have enough distance to make it in time.
Putting on any of the perks that remove or minimizes stun makes BP completely useless. Being a little faster than the killer is irrelevant if they can still see you, and therefore follow you, and quickly catch up with you. Plus, if they're a ranged or fast killer, makes BP even easy to counter so long as you can still see the survivor.

equipping 1 perk slot for something you cannot predict is stupid. keeping LOS on a player with BP isn't guaranteed
If you don't want to run Lightborn, you don't get to then claim there is no counter to Flashbang - that's a you problem. Same with not being about to keep LOS on someone just because they're moving faster.
-
Lightborn counters Flashbang. Background Player, frankly, isn't that hard a perk to deal with - haste is useless if the killer can keep their eyes on you.

no they don't, its only bad survivors who beg for more anti tunnel/anti camp, good survivors know how to use the multitude of tools available to defend themselves and don't complain.
perfect example is DS, 3 sec DS was a great perk and was insanely popular in top play, however idiots who run in a straight line after using it eventually got it buffed because they complained enough.
and im guessing you just want the killer to go for 12 hook games every game? because that's reasonable
Good killers don't need to slug, tunnel and camp - only bad and toxic killers do, and you deserve to be punished. Plain and simple - I don't give two craps what you want to think, you're ruining the game. Survivors deserve to have fun as much as the killer does and those tactics ruin the fun for everyone. If you have to tryhard when killer already gets SO MUCH leeway - able to see survivor items in lobby so they can plan around it, the survivors have no idea who the killer is, base-kit powers tend to be broken for several of the killers, killer perks matter far more than survivor perks do, and killers have to do less than survivors do to win - then you don't deserve to have fun, and I'm tired of people pretending like it's okay to be a toxic player just because BHVR's dev team consists of killer mains only who clearly suck at their own game since they're okay with toxic actions.

Prestige, frankly, doesn't mean crap. Besides, killers still get far more information than survivors do. Killers will still get to know who they're facing and what items they're bringing in, if any, allowing them to plan accordingly, while survivors still have zero clue who the killer is, let alone their name.

Until killers stop tunneling, camping and slugging, survivors need more. Those strategies need to be taken out back and shot. Bad killers should be punished for bad behavior.

I swear, if I have one more random player who repairs the only generator in the corner of nowhere, I'm going to lose it and become a slugger skull merchant.
We get the Hawkins map? Randoms repair the portal room gen and the upstairs gen. The map is Greenville? Randoms flock to repair the theater gen. The map is Suffocation Pit? Randoms suddenly have a daily mission to "repair every single generator on the same side."
Of course we lose every match if this keeps happening. I thought it was common knowledge by now that some generators are better left for the end of the game. At this point, I'm happy to face Corrupt Intervention because it funnels randoms into the middle generators.
Have you ever considered that the "safe" gens happened because the killer forced it to happen? I'll be real with you, one thing I always do is ignore gens that are too far away while making sure the survivors are corralled into doing the gens I want them to do. And it's really not hard to do - put pressure on the survivors when they're doing the gens I want saved for last and ease up on the gens I don't care about. Works almost every time.
And when I'm survivor, I just do whatever gen I come across. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, depends on the killer and how active my teammates are.
