I've been camped, tunneled, and slugged so much these past few days... for the first time ever, I DC'd.

Sure, it is flattering that the killer has played against me 3x prior that day and knew I could out play them... so they did their job and got me out. Problem is, you can't counter a killer who can see who you are, but you can't see who they are. If a killer wants you dead, you're dead. They will camp, tunnel, and slug.

I get the frustration, but it's a two sided coin.

It sounds like you (and your team?) were frustrating that killer by outplaying him. He has no control over matchmaking, so he took out his frustration and camped/tunnel/slug you.

The difference here is the killer didn't dc while he was being outplayed, but you did.

    Survivors frustrate killers.

    Killers frustrate survivors.

  • What changes should be made when they do this rework?

I think some want a buff, others want a nerf.

Imo, I thinks he's fine where he's at.

    Awesome job dude!

    Welcome to the forums!

Nothing wrong with a good debate, just remember keep it respectful even in a disagreement.

I can't tell you how many times I have learned from the different perspectives and discussions on these forums.

    Too true.

I came in like a crying toddler, now I'm looking forward to facing doctor (i h8 doc) with all this advice I got from y'all nice folks.

You can't, as far as I understand. Best you can do is ask a mod to close it. You can just flag your post and ask them. I'm not 100% sure why it's like this though.

My guess, it's to prevent abuse of the flag.

I have to wait before flagging my second post due to a spam blocker.

  • @NomiNomad said:

That's a very healthy way of looking at things. We've all made posts we regret (me included) but it's good that you can reflect on what you've said and decide to try and change that.

I really do enjoy this game, and I want it to succeed, and (as much as they can irritate me sometimes) I do feel like BHVR cares about the game. Sometimes the decisions they make absolutely boggle my mind, but I know they're trying.

A big things I've noticed with these forums (and something I've done myself) is people just want to complain to be negative. Complaining is okay, as long as it's for criticism, but people that complain just to start an argument (or vice versa people who think only their opinions matter and won't listen to any other opinion or argument) are bad for the game and the forums. All they do is perpetuate a stupid cycle of negativity.

Anyways, I'm glad to see your more willing to look at things in a more positive light. Sometimes, this community can be great. Welcome to the forums!

    Thank you.

Unrelated, lol, how do I go about deleting my past posts?

I was playing survivor yesterday and played against a rank 20 hag. A dude saw Ruin at the beginning of the game and dced like 30 seconds before I found the totem. I thought it was pretty funny.

I love watching people dc to avoid 3rd hook.

Like, you just gave yourself a penalty, when you were this close to the end.

    [] <- this close.

  • Alot of interesting views here.

I see dirty tactics (camp, tunnel, slug) in a different way.

If the killer does these things, it means the killer is more afraid of survivors than visa versa.

It's flattering to me, not fun, but still flattering.

It means I scared the killer, even tho he has the weapons.

Also, the killer ain't here to make friends, so there is no "fair play"

He's literally trying to kill you, how he does it is irrelevant.

You're trying to survive, ds,bt, meta, non-meta... irrelevant. How you try to survive is up to you.

  • @AggressiveFTW said:

I am asking because I think that a balanced DS should be base kit for survivors, what do you think?

Ds for sure, maybe bt, but anything else would be a nightmare.

I don't run meta, and I rarely get tunnelled with SB and inner strength.

I've got this mindset where, "if the killer plays dirty, it's because he's more afraid than I am"

Also, he's the killer, he's pretty much entitled to play as dirty as he wants.

He ain't tryna make fiends yo.

Gain 200lbs with all the snacks you'll be getting while waiting to bleed out.

I paid money to play DbD.. not watch YouTube videos.

I'm sorry, but it just sounds like you're frustrated with dc penalty, not the actual camp/slug/tunnel itself.

Not to be rude, but what other hobbies do you have?

I like to paint, and I do so in between matches.

It sounds like you're focused too much on this game, and nothing anyone says will compete with your desire to quit without penalty.

Other games also have dc penalties, are you in those forums as well?

Or is this just a dbd thing?

I understand more than most, but I changed my mindset.

If I get camped/tunnel/slug, i figure the killer is more afraid of you than you are of him. I laugh it off every time, bc he's the one with the weapons. All I have are flashlights and pallets.

Maybe try liking at it that way? I sincerely hope this helps.

I shouldn’t be having to wait 5-7min to get a survivor match at 11am. Matches flow like Willy Wonka’s chocolate river around this time. They’re instantaneous up until around 4-5pm. Switching over to killer and I’m getting lobby’d-up immediately. This is all highly irregular and only noticeable this “Testing” weekend. It begs the question, “Coincidence?”

    Seems doubtful that it is.

Killer mains (or frequent killer players) aren’t beating the system by sitting the majority of this weekend out of their everyday killing duties by switching over to survivor.

Devs aren’t feeble and stupid like many are making them out to be.

They collect excessive amount of data, even in mass forms we aren’t aware of.

The info they receive on a regular basis will show the influx of survivors and drought in killers this weekend, amongst other irregularities, to help form proofs for their “test.”

If anything, the players intentionally opting out, or flooding a side they rarely play with all the time they would have put into playing killer are potentially shooting themselves in the foot if they were hoping for a victory in their “Preserve Bloodlust at all Costs” cause, should this really be happening.

Needless to say, it’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out.

5-7 minutes for survivor at 11am? I've been playing alot, and I don't see that long of a wait.

Are you solo, 2 3 or 4 man group?

I know mmr is broken, but are you red rank?

It just seems like there are other factors.

  • @Tubby_Squirrel said:

As a killer main its like I have a never-ending rotation of prey to hunt! A constantly rotating buffet of people to hunt! The thrill of the chase excites me! The hook at the end is just validation! The SMACK sometimes I legit find myself licking my lips at the computer in anticipation for it. This game pushes buttons for me.

Anyone else? Just the anticipation of hunting my prey sets off dopamine for me. Playing killer is incredibly cathartic for me. And the fact that more people want to play survivor... more people want to be my prey than want to hunt? Well that just means more for me! More to EAT! I grin at my computer every time I yank someone out of a locker. Every time someone is downed to my power at a critical moment. I am baffled as to how killer is the less popular side to play, but I'm not complaining! It means I don't have to share my food!

Killer can be stressful if you're a casual player vs red rank swf.

You don't strike me as a casual player, and that's fine, keep hunting hungry hunter.

  • This is what I'm seeing...

I want to dc because the killer is playing dirty [camp/ tunnel/ slug]

Why can't I leave if I'm not having fun?

Not to sound rude, but you can.

Just dc, but you already know it comes with a penalty that gets worse the more you dc.

You'll keep dcing until you can't play for days [so I've seen from other posts]

You claim you're not having fun, then play killer, or play something else.

Or... take a breath, grab a soda and snacks, watch a video or scroll the forums...

Eventually the match will end, and you can start again without penalty.

De-pip? Doesn't matter, mmr is off.

Less bp? That's cool, the bp pool is endless and if you really wanted bp you'd be playing killer.

You still get exp/ shards. No problem there.

The only problem y'all have is with the penalty itself, which can be avoided by NOT disconnecting.

I'm not condoning a dc or afk, but you are in control of your own game.

I can't force you to stay any more than you can control the killers camp. Just know that real life has consequences, and so does dcing. So, don't dc, unless you want the penalty.

If you're stuck slugged til bleedout or hanging on hook full time, you're useless to the team anyway. Sure, you might buy them time, but in reality how often do people stay on gens and pump them out while you're stuck in miserable situations?

I've stuck around in games where I desperately wanted to DC and didn't.. and the more I think about it, the more I realize that all of those times it wouldn't have made a difference either way.

So it's just a 4 minute wait... that's sometimes best case scenario in these situations. You know what would be better? Leaving and moving on to a trial where we can enjoy playing the game we payed money for. Not slug simulator.

I understand completely, but what really is 4 minutes? It takes at least 5 to cook rice.

In that scenario, where you have to wait to die, just watch a couple vids on YouTube, grab a snack, use the bathroom.

That way, you won't see the penalty, you'll have a nice breather, and the game will be over before your YouTube video.

I want to dc as killer alot, and that's worse because I can't force survivors you finish gens. I'll chase a bit, hit here or there, but if I'm getting outplayed hard and it's no fun, I'll just grab a cup o joe, watch a bit of YouTube, and eventually the game is done and I can move on without penalty.

well the statements your saying still dont make sense dcing is faster than 20 seconds so what i'm saying is valid no reason to give extra pints to a tunneler or facecamper. It's not selfish because your gonna die anyway might as well not waste your time or anyone else's and not let a killer get the points for sacrificing you instead they get the dcing points. From the way your talking sounds like you practice camping but thats okay not everyone has to go through the frustrating experience of having to watch that infront of their face. -Be better

You [not you personally, but the dc] can wait 4 minute bleed out, egc, or ######### on first hook.

I understand that these tactics aren't fun, but you have plenty of outs, all of them will hurt you and your team.

I see people dc right before last hook, which means your motives for dcing to "hurt the killers bp" is a selfish motive.

Worst part is that it doesn't hurt the killer, because the killer considers it funny.

The worst way to hurt a camper, stay ON the hook as long as possible.

  • Instead of fixing mmr, they remove bloodlust.

So now teams are uneven, AND there's no catch-up.

I hope BHVR doesn't consider my comment a personal attack.

  • Survivor exhaustion perk

    Stop camping

If the killer is within x meters of hook, you can stun the killer with a dirty kick.

    This causes exhaustion, obviously.

  • I'm glad you enjoyed your food and took it in stride.

  • Swf is truly the problem with this game.

The idea that a team can communicate over a large distance without being heard by the killer is completely unfair.

On top of that, mmr is off and every game is a rainbow of players.

  • @rglarson13 said:

This community has a huge problem with camping and tunneling, so much so that there's a lot of insistence that already abusable perks like DS should be buffed (or made base kit) because people seem to think the survivors should be able to "punish" killers who don't play how they want them to play.

But this is ridiculous. Camping is normally a terrible strategy, and usually results in the killer losing. (Also, normally when I see a killer camping it's almost always in response to a particularly toxic survivor.)

Tunneling is basically the opposite problem: it's a wise move that helps the killer win. Tunneling is the killer's version of gen rushing. (Hooking survivors is the killer's objective -- why is there a reason not to do that?) Punishing a killer for playing smart and effectively -- rather than as hosting an entertaining game of tag for the neighborhood kids -- doesn't make much sense. (Sure, I get that it's not fun for the survivor, but being slugged isn't fun, either, and that's what happens when the killer suspects DS might be in play.)

I'd much rather see the game's fun factor get upped in other ways to encourage the more fun parts of the game, rather than facilitate any kind of punishment. Maybe to handle tunneling the killer should be incentivized to chase different survivors, e.g., maybe bloodlust triggers more quickly when chasing survivors who have full health. (Honestly, I don't really mind the concept of DS as base kit, but maybe it should be made more high risk -- the killer is the one who gets a haste effect for a moment -- that would make chases more fun than the current repetitive game of ring-around-the-rosie that they are now.)

Similarly, rather than buff Ruin, which at best just leads to long games with more time spent holding M1, maybe Tinkerer should be base kit for all killers in order to set up more action as the survivors get close to finishing their objective.

Finally, I like where NOED is at -- it makes the EGC actually stressful for me as a survivor, and perks like Inner Strength help make totems a worthwhile secondary objective that resolves the issue.

You for real just said bloodlust?

    Wow.

That would sure give the survivors incentive to not play this game.

Long story short, BHVR doesn't punish these play styles because ruining the fun is what dbd is meant for.

Either survivors ruin killers fun, or visa versa.

  • You don't need bloodlust to cut off unsafe pallets.

    Nice try tho.

  • @JoeyBob said:

Bloodlust allows killers to potentially down survivors when they've been in a chase for a long time without breaking pallets. Not only does this change force killers to break pallets they could otherwise bloodlust, but it gives the potential to drastically increase chase times without any downside to the survivors.

Game is just becoming more and more survivor sided. First they nerfed bloodlust now theyre removing it all together.

    Breaking pallets hurts survivors.

    Not breaking pallets hurts killer.

You are just a killer main that doesn't like breaking pallets.

  • ...Or just make more money.

  • Nice bait thread.

Call your isp and fix the issue that's obviously on your end.

I've seen this game crash, got 5 minute penalty, restarted modem, all's well.

You're obviously dcing, or your modem is held together with wood and glue.

  • The answer is simple.

Survivors need to be punished for NOT playing killer.

While mmr is off/broken, killers are getting way more matches against higher skilled survivors.

Nobody wants to play killer, nobody wants to solo q as survivor, every game is unfair so the killer assumes your whole team is connected and red ranks.

So they make it their goal to punish all of you, even tho it's BHVR fault.

    FIX MMR!

y'all deserve long wait times and sweaty matches until devs remove head from bum.

  • The lack of mmr means a lack of killers.

Even without mmr y'all sweaty swf makes all killers want to play something else.

Has nothing to do with bloodlust.

  • @ZaKzan said:

I've been getting MMR-like MM at rank 1 the past few days, and so have many other people. There is absolutely positively zero reason to remove bloodlust for a couple days and tell people about it. It's like finding out how many times a coin will land on heads, but only flipping it 5 times. It's meaningless. They're testing out an MMR system without bloodlust. It also makes more sense than just removing bloodlust for a weekend out of the blue.

Not even joking, what mmr system?
