  • As a solo, it's not selfish at all. I also run bond and calm spirit every game to negate sandbagging, screaming swf teammates. I play as a team no matter what, because that's what wins matches. I use bond to avoid sandbagging my teammates too. I use distortion to stealth and unhook. I take chases when teammates have higher hook states than me. It's only selfish if you play selfishly.

They all also have the ability to use the same perks. It's not a club with a membership. Plenty of swfs use collective distortion. There are too many aura reading/scream inducing killer perks to not give distortion and calm spirit a second look.

  • Im just tired of the AI+SPEED BOOST mechanic in general. Meatball was fun for a bit, but now it's every new killer has teleport/ai abilities that take over the map. Kinda boring and not fun to face over and over with a random Wesker (ugh) in between. To point out SM being too easy, I've played her once, decimated the opposing team with 5 gens left, and felt like the worst person in the world after. I played as M1 killer.

  • Definitely time to nerf Pig

  • Not me putting 32 charge toolboxes, BNP, and cakes as my only picks

  • Read that as "power top MMR" and, like, where's the lie?

At this point, I fully expect to be tunneled during the event. I run a complete meme build and just go in, grab some invites, throw some pebbles, and sometimes chase the killer around to force them to see me play the lute.

That's my event. Killers can play for real, but I don't have to go hard just because they do. I've had some killers try to force me and one other remaining survivor to stay in the match (most recent one put everyone one the ground, bled my friend out, hooked someone else, then tried to make me and the other remaining survivor do five gens), and Plot Twist is super handy in those situations. Last person can have the hatch, I don't care that it's not me; if one of the last two remaining survivors asked to be hooked telling them "no" is the opposite of nice and I bring the counter to that.

And I do have fun in some matches, it's not like I don't. But then there are the matches where the killer wants to end it with 5 gens left, and I'm just gonna make a mockery of that with my nonsense, because it's ridiculous to take this event seriously.

This makes my day! Great attitude.

I don't even really consider it tunneling when I kill survivors early on. I'm playing a game to win, just like survivors are playing to win also. I paid for the game the same as everyone else and I'm going to play(and kill early, and whenever possible) the way I want to.

Now that's not to say that I won't have fun and let survivors go occasionally if I'm enjoying messing around with them and I can tell they're being friendly, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm playing to win and improve at the game with the killers I've purchased.

I'm still relatively new to the game with about ~150 hours currently and I've seen nothing on the forums but killers complaining about survivors and survivors complaining about killers. It's absurd almost that survivors expect the killers to not…play the game the same way they're doing it.

Tunneling is chasing the same person over and over until they die. Killing "early" isn't the issue, it's singling people out, not giving any chance to heal or play at all. It's just a completely detrimental play style, and everyone (barring new players, which has happened in EGC and it was a nice discourse) knows it's gross. People who defend actual tunneling know they're being sketchy, they just dgaf.

  • I've been known to unhook while injured and on 2nd hook state with a heavy TR. My hope is always, I get hooked, the other surv gets away. The reality is more often I get slugged, the other surv gets tunneled. I should learn, but I have infinite hope for humanity.

  • It's the same problem as 4k slugging to a bleed-out.

It's called holding the game hostage, and it's reportable (not that that does anything worthwhile). If there's more than one survivor left and neither is trying to win, it's not simply playing the game as intended. The goal is escape, not making the killer DC from boredom, or waiting for the other person to get killed first.

  • Dramaturgy makes gameplay fun, for sure. And if you get any value out of it, Power Struggle is an instant hit of dopamine.

I run HG exclusively on Trapper and trap it every single time so it looks important to me, with an Undying back, also trapped. I also still love Devour, even if it's kind of mean. When I get that stack and down a healthy surv, you know they're like "Oh god damn it".

As a surv, I always assume NOED is in play. It's more of a surprise when it's not.

You'll have that. Another thing they can't fathom is when you're playing the event for points and are trying to clown on you because the last one got the hatch.

I always love it when I 3k and let the last person find the hatch or leave through the gate and they're standing on top of it or in the gate teabagging like they outplayed me. JUST LEAVE.

It's the equivalent of hitting the final survivor on hook after they knelt at your feet and let you hook them. Just take it and go close hatch, man.

For the 100000th time. The point is that people only say it when they win, which is why I find it be an issue. How exactly is it being a good sport, if you're only saying it when It's a win, and almost never when losing?

I think this thread proves that there are plenty of people who don't only say it when they win. It's a bummer if that's been your experience, and I wish it wasn't that way for you, but in the grand scheme of the world, I don't think this is a large problem across the board.

Blame BHVR. Tunnelling has been the biggest issue with the game and the biggest turn-off for new players for years now and the devs refuse to do anything meaningful to deal with it. It's always the strongest tactic for the killer regardless of map, regardless of perks, regardless of killer. BHVR needs to make changes to the game to greatly weaken it and to strengthen spreading out hooks but they refuse to.

I agree that it should be dealt with on a non-player level. That's the only real way to deal with the problem. But it also boils down to the killer making a conscious decision to make someone else's game suck in order to make their own game easier.

For both sides: Who ever said a win was supposed to be easy?

Queue times are variable depending on region, mmr, and time of day. Your personal experience with long queue times is not the same everywhere as I personally have not encountered long queues as either role.

Not to mention the claim that DBD is going to die over tunneling has been said for years and here we are.

Some of you guys just need to learn when to take a break when you find yourself not enjoying the game.

The sad thing is, I just recently came off of a break that was due to a slugging epidemic. I've definitely taken breaks when needed. I love the game, genuinely, which is why I always come back. I just happened to notice a sharp increase in tunneling during the event that really bothered me.

It's possible that making an account here has exacerbated the problem, since now I'm seeing a lot of posts with "I tunnel the weak link because it's a legit strategy lol", and "It's not my problem if you're not having fun!" attitudes. It's a sad way to behave, and sad to see.

I'm older (43), female, and love horror games, and I always avoided online gaming when I was younger for just this reason. The toxic attitude of TRYING to ruin someone else's experience is frustrating. Maybe I'm too sensitive, but when I play, I want it to be as much fun for everyone as possible. Is it even fun to play a match in 8-10 minutes due to tunneling? Is it actually fun for people to slug to bleed-out for a 4k to ensure without a doubt nobody gets that hatch? I can't imagine having that level of main character syndrome.

Father Vile's Confessionals are now open. Come talk about some misdeeds in the fog that have been weighing on you and your DBD sins will be forgiven.

I accidentally body-blocked a window my teammate was trying to loop at and caused them to go down. This was because I was going one way trying to position myself for the FTP+BU and miss read what they were doing… ended up vaulting it from the opposite side before them and they went down next to me. Still was able to hit the FTP+BU when they went down, but…yeah…sorry Yui…😅

Share your DBD sins of the week that are weighing on you.

Bless me my fellow nun, for I have sinned.

I allowed myself to get angry at an EGC. I was called trash by a fellow survivor, and my P78 was called into question. Though I did not angrily retaliate, I asked for details and got none. I had to take a break for a while after. Apparently my stealth playstyle upsets some people, and my willingness to sacrifice myself even moreso.

I hath bodyblocked a teammate accidentally, but cost them a hook nonetheless.

I hath become so irritated as a catch and release killer by flashlights, that I began to third hook the survs in an especially annoying game.

  • @Krazzik said:

3 good survivors and one awful survivor isn't -that- rare to find, and usually you'll need to tunnel the weak link because the good survivors are simply too good at looping or stealthing.

Just to be clear, nobody ever "needs" to tunnel.

    On a general note:

Imagine this is the mindset of killers, and new players have to put up with it. Just tunnel after tunnel until they inexplicably "get good". And then people can't fathom being called toxic. "WYM I'm just playing the game" kind of stuff. No, you're ruining the game for someone. Someone who is potentially going to abandon it because it's not fun.

The whole tee-hee I'm helping by decimating newer players schtick is ancient, but boy it never goes away.
    Neither does abysmal "matchmaking".

… truly love the game, and as much as we say we hate it or dislike some of the developers' decisions, we all just want what's best for the game.

    So wholesome

  • Ooh gurl, her hiner is out!

  • I should have said this earlier, but if I get whomped as a survivor (my main) and it was skillfully done (not a tunnel and slug) I offer a gg. If I'm a survivor and escape but it was a good game with skillful play from the killer, I'll offer a gg.

When I say it, it's genuine, otherwise I'll leave crickets in chat. Honestly I'm usually talking to myself and get no reply either way.

  • try to boop the snoot, but get a party hat and a hook because that's an outdated meta action.

  • Ill be honest, if I play killer and "win" but I feel like the survivors put up a heck of a fight, it was a gg. If someone ran me for a gen or two before I whack em? Dude, absolutely gg. If I have to work hard for a hook, definitely gg.

Saying gg as a killer is me showing respect for a game well fought.

"Gg ez" is always said by trash only, though. Just as salt in wounds. I hope those people stub their toes and burn their tongues on hot beverages.

  • As a surv main, perks like this don't concern me. There are several other info/aura perks with way more value. And Franklin's only bothers me when I bring a BNP and get whacked before using it. Can they be annoying, sure, but they're pretty counterable.

I think there was some confusion that I was the one you guys were talking to and not the other poster.

This is what happens when the game is balanced in such a way that is necessary at a high level. People see comp matches, and they emulate what they do there. Wouldn't it be better if the game was balanced around hooks and chases instead of kills?

Absolutely agree. Having the "win conditions" be 4k/escape, hard stop, definitely breeds a very specific play style, on both sides. And the odd, arbitrary score system doesn't help.

  • Like I said, I'm trying to take a road that leads to more fun for players overall by playing as a more generous killer to balance, but as one person, the result is going to be insignificant. When genrushing was the main killer complaint, measures were taken to lessen that strain on an in-game, non-player level by rationing bloodweb parts and add-ons, as well as by nerfing BNP. OK, maybe that balanced fun for killers and if so, it was a good call. I'm not trying to be a cryvivor. I play the game because it's been fun for a lot of years. If it devolves into something completely unfun, of course I'm going to be sad. "Just stop playing" a game that I've really loved for 8 years, especially when that phrase comes from newer players who are part of the problem, is pretty gross. Why shouldn't it be fun for everyone who plays? Why isn't that a main community concern?

    Edit: "ho plays" lol
