Go to the other gate/other side? This is a complete non-issue. You all dying is 100% your fault there.

If you don’t think hostage spots aren’t a problem, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m not asking for your opinion, and no one needs you being condescending. I’m just trying to let the devs know that there is an area that killers can very realistically abuse if they wanted. And I, among other people, have had experiences with this spot.

I get what you are saying but NOED can be countered by destroying all totems before the exit gates are powered. There's no real counterplay against gen tapping. I'm not saying NOED isn't annoying, but there's a difference.

I wasn't trying to compare gen tapping to NOED, the person I replied to was just saying the devs only listen to survivors because they don't want to upset them, which isn't true at all. They DO in fact try to balance for both sides.

As a side note, I don't believe in the "just do bones" stuff though. Solo Queue or the RNG (especially on places like RPD) make totems hellish to find/keep track of. If one side has to go out of their way to try and pre-counter a perk out of fear that it would drastically put you at a disadvantage, it should very much be changed in some way. That goes for NOED, that goes for Adrenaline, and probably a few other perks.

  • The Devs gave this game an identity crisis. It seems as though they want it to be a horror game, a competitive game, a "party game", and every other kind of game that they can label it as. I've constantly advocated for a casual mode for a while now, and they said they havent done it because it would make the queue times longer. I think the reason they haven't done so is because it would show how many people don't care about the ranked/competitive aspect of the game, and it would show how pointless it was to try and push the game in that direction.

  • I'm actually going to start playing him for the first time. I never liked playing against him as survivor, so I refused to play him until they changed him in some way. I tried him on the PTB, my very first match as Deathslinger, and I enjoyed it a lot, so I will start playing him when he goes live, provided the changes stay the same.

Sadly the devs already commented on survivors tapping the gen for 0.00001 second to stop regression and they think it is a "FUN" mechanic and won't change it.

AKA they cower in the corner at the thought of upsetting survivors.

These are the same dves who refuse to change NOED because they think the surprise factor is "fun", which has also been stated in a Q&A. NOED has been upsetting survivors for years now, and it's still not changed, so I don't share that sentiment at all. They just don't know what fun is, I guess. I like the idea of working on a gen for a couple seconds before the gen stops regressing, though. If it gave you a score event for stopping the regression, that would be even better.

  • I wanna see Cheryl's "Transform" costume from Silent Hill 3, that turns her into Princess Heart.

  • I don't like RNG based killers, especially when everything else about the game is RNG based as well. Sometimes the chains on Pinhead do absolutely nothing. Other times, they're so oppressive that you literally can't do anything, and that's really unfun, especially to people who play with a controller. Having unchain and vault mapped to the same button is super super unfair.

  • I'd like to be able to lightburn a Spirit.

  • I'm not a bad killer by any means, but I'm also not amazing. After the MMR went live though, I can't win a match for the life of me. I can barely eek out a single kill most of the time, and playing killer has gotten so frustrating that I can't actually play anymore. Survivor is almost as bad because they keep pairing me with new players, despite the fact that I used to play really well at rank 1 every month before the MMR went live. I'm definitely having a much less fun experience playing DBD after the MMR went up, so I'm hoping they change/fix/remove it.

  • I still don't see any actual counterplay against her. The fact that you can see her coming at you faster than you can reasonably do something about doesnt really feel any better. She is still just as fast as before. She can still mindgame with the phasewalk. I think all this nerf does is make it so that mindless Spirit mains need to put more work to get their kllls, which I appreciate at the very least. Honestly, she could be completely visible during the phasewalk and I think she'd still do almost as well as she does now.

  • Ever since the MMR was turned on, my killer matches have become so difficult that I can't play killer anymore. On the survivor side, it just feels fun here and there. Lately, I just play HOPING i have fun, rather than actually enjoying myself. It's probably about that time for another break from the game.

  • I used to run Kindred on every game because I don't have friends, and I play Solo Queue almost exclusively. I get left to die on first hook half the time, even when I run it, so I'd rather run something more useful like Borrowed Time instead. My go-to build for Solo Queue survivor is Spine Chill, We're Gonna Live Forever, Borrowed Time and Counterforce/Detective's Hunch/Small Game

  • These are...interesting choices. Ilike Scary Movie and Scream a lot, Sidney, Cindy, or Brenda would be cool. I'd love to see them in the game. Messing around with the killer like Brenda did to Cindy in Scary Movie 3 sounds like a dream.

  • Demogorgon is my favorite killer to go against. He's strong, cute and he's an all around good boy.

  • Something about Wraith needed nerfing. I would have sooner nerfed his addons, but it had to be either the ridiculous lunge, or the addons. I'm happy with this change, though the All Seeing change could have been done better.

  • Have you seen how badly stretched res kills Ghostface? It's not like he needed any more problems to deal with. Stretched res needs to go.

  • @MrCalac123 said:

Survivors have wiggle room to mess around, Killers do not. It is 16 perks vs 4, it's not even a discussion.

That's not really how it works. You don't know what perks your teammates have unless you're in a SWF. I've had a ton of matches where one or two had no perks at all or something like No Mither and Self Care together. It's not fair to treat every survivor as if they're in a squad or something

  • @danielmaster87 said:

When I get good results with a fun build, I feel great. But fun builds usually don't get good results.

That's my experience with my builds. For example, I love running Blast Mine and Repressed Alliance, but usually killer love running Ruin/Undying/Surge or don't kick gens, which makes the perk useless. Makes it hard to want to run those situational niche perks, but it's fun when I get to use it!

  • @Apollos said:

I rarely run meta. Right now I'm running Camaraderie, Second Wind, Empathy, and Breakdown on Steve.

I think anyone saying they're forced to run certain perks need to calm down and reframe their experience. I play to have fun so my perks reflect that. I don't always have fun every match, but these perks are more fun than just having my ass covered every time.

I love that line of thinking! The perks are there for a reason, and you CAN make them work for you. I love seeing players like you in my matches

  • @Brokenbones said:

    Here's my advice:

Mix meta and non meta perks together. That's what I do.

For example, let's say I wanna run a healing build with like bite the bullet, self care, botany - I'll run those 3 perks and I'll throw in some other 'meta' perk to help keep me in the game. Be it an exhaustion perk, DS and so on.

I don't think someone running an autodidact meme build but having DS or UB as their 4th perk is a 'meta' build. In the same vein that when playing killer, you can run meme builds and just put pop or ruin on just to have them.

Oh I wasn't looking for advice, I'm okay running my off-brand Babysitter build, haha. But I like that line of thinking. I imagine it's much more tolerable than a stacked meta build, most definitely.

  • If you read my post at all, I said I know normally slugging is not reportable. I was asking because the killer was refusing to hook anyone the entire game, dragging the game out to over 30 minutes because they wanted to make us bleed to death on purpose, which by the the tutorial and all common sense, sounds like refusing to participate in normal gameplay.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

If a survivor is unable to play in this scenario, it speaks more for the ability of the player and teammates than the killer. It's up to survivors to avoid the killer and provide altruism, death by slug is a result of personal mistakes and failed teamwork.

It's called playing solo queue without unbreakable/soul guard against a face camp slugging Twins with Deerstalker and Sloppy Butcher. No amount of skill is going to get you out of that situation without either good coordination or the right perks, especially in a dead zone.

  • @FeelsBadMan said:

Today I had to slug someone until they died cause they kept running into the same corner of the map with no hooks close enough to hooked them. What else am I supposed to do in this situation? Believe me I also didnt like staring at that persons body for four damn minutes but I for sure won't give them a free escape.

Yeah I get that, and that kind of slugging is justified. But with my situation, there were plenty of hooks around, survivors nowhere near me, and the killer just wanted to slug us to death so he could make us angry (they said as much in the post game chat). Right from the very beginning of the game right up until the end. No one should have to sit through that.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I lost 20+ minutes of my life today to different killers who decided to slug me and then kill the other 3 survivors instead of putting me on a hook. Super fun.

It's not reportable, nor should it be. What the game needs is a concede option, so I can be like, "Cool, you win," and leave behind a husk that continues to be slugged while I move on. The dying state sucks, devs; congrats on executing such a terrible, miserable mechanic.

I would be happy with this. It's not fun, nor is it fair to make me spend extended periods of time trapped in a match where I can't do anything. At this point, I think I'll just start DCing and eating the penalty. I don't have much of a choice anymore.

  • @SPADESinst said:

Sadly no. It's not bannable from what I heard. Sucks to know too, I had a Freddy slug my friends to death today and using knock out to do it. I was the only one that got out because they killed themselves so I could get hatch.

It's so frustrating. And understandably, I was pissed off at the end, and it turned out the killer was doing it on purpose to "make us salty". I hate people like that who intentionally play like that to suck the enjoyment out of the game for everyone else.

  • @Apollos said:

A doctor did this to me before, but I think it's safe because you bleed out eventually.

It's a bullshit way to play, but I don't think it's against any rules.

I don't know how this wouldn't be against the rules. I literally can't play the game. If you get hooked, you have the option of leaving the game by letting go on hook, but if I'm getting slugged to death, there is literally nothing you can do but sit there. And every time my teammate tries to pick me up, we get hit by victor with hitboxes the size of a truck, and slugged again with sloppy butcher.

  • @botrax said:

I dont think its reportable i do that a lot when i have some RPD offering and i never got ban for that. But you can ask a mod to be sure they have info the normal community dont have

How would I go about asking a mod?

  • I basically stopped playing at this point. I used to play everyday for a few hours at least, and now I feel like it'll be one of those games where I pick it up once every few months just to see where the game is at. The rewards for hitting rank 1 are pretty pitiful and the matchmaking for me is atrocious, so it's not as fun anymore.

You mean the oldest licensed characters have had their perks appear more often than newer ones? Why is that in any way surprising?

Think of an opaque bag with numbered balls 1-10. If I keep drawing them, then putting them back in the bag, I have a 1/10 chance to draw any one of them, right?

Now say I drew them 100 times and every ball 1-10 was drawn between 8 and 12 times. Now you add a new ball, numbered 11, and I draw them 100 times yet again. Would you expect the 1-10 balls to have fewer total draws than the 11th, keeping in mind the 100 previous draws without ball 11?

I'm surprised because Laurie's perk Soul Survivor was in the first Shrine of Secrets, then Dying Light was in the second shrine, then Decisive Strike in the 3rd and Object of Obsession in the 4th. Maybe because - of the 10 weeks between the release of the first shrine and the end of 2016, Michael and Laurie's perks appeared in 8 out of 10 shrines. According to the logic that everyone goes by (newly released perks don't show up in the shrine until a certain amount of time has passed), this doesn't make any sense. None of this makes any sense. BHVR just isn't being clear about how the shrine works and it's really deceptive.

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2357543#Comment_2357543

Another fun fact: the Shrine was introduced in the same month when we got our first licensed characters, Shape and Laurie, meaning that their perks inherently had a lower chance to appear compared to non-licensed ones. Overall, we have fewer licensed characters (and therefore perks) than original ones.

Despite that, Michael and Laurie have had their perks in the shrine far more than any other licensed characters in the game by a substantial margin. All of their perks have been in the shrine at least 10 times. And it seems that their perks appeared quite a bit in the year they were introduced too

  • There is a reason they give you a map in Resident Evil 2. The place is way too maze-like and you can't find anything. It also has the same problem Midwich has where you can hear stuff above or below you, but you need to cross half the map to get where you want to go. As much as I love the aesthetic, I absolutely despise playing on that map.

  • If you ARE getting tunneled, and the killer absolutely wants you dead, I don't see why you can only use DS once. If they hook you, you get unhooked, the killer goes after you again, downs you again, eats DS, chases you again, hooks you and the process repeats, you should be able to use Decisive Strike a second time. Or a third.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Well yeah, but they have never said it's random.

They don't need to say it's random. The fact that they don't tell us whether it's random, whether it's likely licensed perks will appear (and or how frequently) is a pretty big red flag and it really shows their lack of transparency. If for example, I knew that the Hag's teachables were common in the shrine (as they are) because she is an original killer, if I don't like the Hag's gameplay, I wouldn't mind waiting for her perks to come out in the shrine. But with, say, the Pig's perks being part of a licensed killer, even if I didn't like the Pig, I may still want to buy her because licensed perks have a decreased chance of showing up in the shrine. BHVR being clear about how the shrine actually functions would allows players to make informed decisions.

BBQ, Detectives Hunch, and DS were all on recent Shrine of Secrets during the event.

They were there for one day. For people who don't have the time to grind for shards, ran out, don't have time, had to choose between one perk or another, etc, they now either have to wait or pray it shows up again. Mettle of Man for example, hasn't been in the shrine since June last year and Soul Guard has never been in the Shrine either. If all the perks were guaranteed to show up at some point during the event, that's one thing, but they aren't.

BBQ, Detectives Hunch, and DS were all on recent Shrine of Secrets during the event.

For one day. Not everyone can afford to play the game everyday. This doesn't solve the problem. Soul Guard has never been in the shrine, Mettle of Man hasn't been in since the last week of June last year, we've yet to see the Resident Evil perks either, even though the shrine has been re-rolled a good 15 times now.

  • Yeah I think he could use an addon pass, definitely. I see lots of people struggle with Wraith these days with the silent bell, the All Seeing addons and Shadowdance. In a swf situation, he's definitely pretty mediocre, but against Solo Queue, if you guys don't have the counters to a Wraith, he can be a nightmare. If I'm being honest though, I think it's more of a Solo Queue being too weak problem than a Wraith being too strong with his addons.

  • @Crowman said:

The Shrine is likely weighted rng. New chapter perks and licensed perks are going to show up less.

That said, BHVR does have the ability to select the perks themselves as seen with April Fool shrines.

I would see that as being so unfair, especially for people who pour a ton of money into the game. Like, for me, I bought the Silent Hill edition and then went and bought all of the DLC (except for Ash because I don't like him and I don't want to pay for something I don't like). It's so unfair to lock so many of the most important perks (like DS, Detective's Hunch, BBQ) behind another paywall (unless by a miracle, it appears in the shrine). It just feels like they make it so inconvenient to get licensed perks that you feel like you have no choice but to pay for the DLC / characters

I'm on both PC and Xbox but I'm more progressed on Xbox because some of my friends are on there. I'm a teamplayer even when mostly soloing but teammates who are allergic to gens is getting out of hand. I'll be grinding during the event if you want to add me. I also don't mind playing without comms or even just comming with someone who doesn't talk very much. I'm rank 5 on xbox (wish I could stay out of red ranks sometimes XD) and I think 14 on PC right now and both accounts are under Feechima.

Sorry I never replied, I didn't see your message till just now! I'll add you!

  • I live in the US and my bf lives in the EU, we're getting connection issues and matchmaking doesn't seem to be working for either of our servers.

  • I'm having problems on PC as well. As is my bf who lives in the EU. We constantly have to reboot the game in order to actually find matches. We waited for 20 minutes in a full lobby, all we needed was a killer, and we didn't get a single one. Something is definitely wrong here.

Oh, thank you :D you can add me on Steam if that's okay. (Username: ann) profile picture of blonde character from 'Last Year'.

I tried searching for your name an hour ago but no result. the game is weird as usual.

I will be online tomorrow, hope to see you there ^^

Without your steam ID, it'll be kinda hard to find you since Ann is a pretty common name. But that being said, I'll just put a link to my steam page and you can add me, that way there isn't any confusion! And to anyone else who may wanna add me on steam, go right ahead! https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198862287729/

  • They say they fixed the tutorial bug, but my bf and I both got our characters’ load outs reset to base after doing it today, so I would still be cautious.

  • Seriously, the grind is way too much. There are way too many perks and characters. It's especially punishing for people who play multiple killers and/or survivors. The BP cap needs to go and we need to get more BP per match. It's absolutely ridiculous that nothing has been done after 4 years.

  • I despise when survivors wait at the exit gate. If I played even remotely decently, the extra BP, I'd get from the hit is absolutely useless. Half the time, survivors wait at the exit until I show up and then leave before I even step foot inside the actual gate. It's a waste of my time and I usually just want to move on to the next match.

  • I love going up against Nemesis, Demogorgon, Blight, Oni, Pig, Legion, Plague, and Myers. I hate going up against Leatherface, Deathslinger, Trapper, and Freddy. I dc or let go on hook against Spirit and Wraith, I despise them. The rest are just meh for me.

  • For Survivor, I main Leon and Quentin, but for Killer, I main Nemesis. His power feels rewarding but not super easy and broken like Freddy or Spirit. He’s the only Killer that feels comfortable to me, yknow?

  • @Marik13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/258637/nemesis-is-frustrating

I've been posting this all day. It gets worse when you look in to the stats of his power. He's supposed to apply hindered to survivors when they get infected, but you'd never know because as it works right now you can never capitalize on it. The speed boost alone negates the hindered status effect. Right off the bat, that alone counters it. No way to capitalize from it when they get boosted and are already halfway across the map. Second, even if you took away the speed boost, you STILL would never be able to notice or even take advantage of the hindered effect for two reasons. The first is that whenever he hits you you his tentacle he still has a cooldown animation for his attack. But the worst part, the thing that when combined with everything I said so far, is that the hindered effect lasts for a LAUGHABLY small amount of time.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/ZRLQT9MNAYXT/screenshot-20210617-154708-chrome.jpg

0.25 seconds of hindered is all they get when they get infected... So even without the speed boost literally negating the effect, even without it due to his attack cooldown, he still can't do anything for 1.75 seconds while he's locked in to his cooldown animation. So yeah he literally has a useless effect as part of his power that he can never ever take advantage of. They need to rework his power, badly.

If you think the length of the hindered effect is useless on him now, the Licker Tongue add-on is even worse. It adds 0.15 seconds more. A GREEN ADD-ON , mind you. Its makes the hindered effect last not even half a second long. Ridiculous.

  • I tend to see that good killers are able to work around Spine Chill, or just don't care. As a survivor, it's nice for situational awareness, but it's not like the perk does all the work for you. It doesn't show auras and it doesn't tell you which direction the killer is coming from. It only tells you the killer is facing your direction within a certain distance, so while it does give you an advantage against stealth killers, it doesn't absolutely destroy them. I think killers have a harder time working around perks like Adrenaline and Sprint Burst more than Spine Chill to be honest.
