Each platform has seperate moderation rules. It also takes console players way longer to type a message on average.
Thats very true but I’m unfamiliar as to what does different moderation rules have to do with end game chat? That does not seem to be an issue for every other game I play? Is it impossible for them to implement end game chat along with having different moderation rules?
I also barely respond to the hate messages I get and when I do it usually takes a couple of days and I be overly nice to them to confuse them, but I just love getting the messages anyways because i appreciate players feedbacks and communication

Lol I dont see how this is an issue. For a small probability. Killers can leave people slugged while they wait out the timer. Or while they look for the last person. That isn't fair or fun to experience. Nor is the camping and tunneling that is running rampant. I can comfortably say that in most of my matches both the slugging and leaving them down to sweat for the 4k and hard tunnel and camping occurred with high frequency.
There are alot of un fun and unfair elements to this game. So if we want to list everything that people dislike or don't find fun or interesting or well designed we should get all of it changed. Not just one side. Because i have quite the long list of outdated things that should be removed but 100% benefit the killer.
Difference with the things you listed to downplay this post are that they are valid strategical approaches that are often deemed necessary by the killer but there is nothing strategical about luck (4%).

Oh wow that’s crazy, my friend who was watching me play against them messaged one of them at the end of the match and asked how he got it and the guy was being sarcastically mean saying “he beat triple H for them”

Alltough they add new content regularly and the new chapter looks amazing, it didn't even took 5 matches for it to feel stale and boring again.
Why is that you may ask? Well let's look at the current situation. A new player join's dbd he get's maybe 5 starter games before mmr screws him over and sells him out to a killer with more experience then the whole team has. They get stomped into the ground and made fun of in the endgame chat.
I've seen it, I've even tested it with a new account. It's just so disgusting.
If that was your first impression of the game when you started you probably would've put it aside too. Eventually after 2 weeks you even forget about the game alltogether and never play it again. That's what happened to a lot of my friends when I tried to bring them into dbd. It wasn't even my presence that made the match mmr bad for new players. They played on their own more then with me but the experience was the same.
So dbd can attract new players but can't really keep them. This means a constant decrease of players over time.
Now onto the current situation for veteran players. I don't really know how we ended up here but currently I blame streamers partially for it. Popular players like Otz and others made a whole marketing strategy to sell tunneling as a strategy to the average person. Tunneling is normal in competitive dbd but has never been as present in normal dbd as it is today. It was so normalized that people don't even feel bad about it anymore when they made bad decisions the whole match and then "won back the game" by tunneling and camping. That is not what the entity wants according to lore.
People are proud of themself when they won a match against solo-q survivors by tunneling and camping. When has it come this far. It's just sad
So currently active players are beyond annoyed as they have to face killers tunneling at 5 gen's almost every game now. It's tiring, boring and draining. All killer feels the same because they are played the same way with almost similar builds.
So players take a break for a weak, come back to find out it's still the same, go on another break for a month, nothing changes, they are gone for years or even for good.
This game will have a rapid end if the matchmaking is not improved and tunneling is put to an end.
Let me know when you stop trying to appeal to emotions with cherry picking. The flaws of MMR affects both sides equally, a brand new killer player can be matched up against survivors with many hours over them and the chances of that happening is more because 4 survivors > 1 killer.
And as for the melodramatic rant about tunneling, it is a valid strategy and completely necessary in many situations. It is strategical, not emotional unlike your word choices and tone.

I think it's still in the game because the chances of it actually working are so very slim. And it's "basekit" the same way any killer can tunnel "basekit". I personally wouldn't care much if it went away as it does much more harm then good imo, but I also don't think it's very problematic. Genuine question though, are you actually looking for a valid reason why it should still exist or more so just wanting to vent about your grievances with this mechanic? Just looking at your other replies to some people's reasonings as to why it should still be here, it seems you're more so annoyed and looking for validation rather than trying to understand. No judgment btw, I feel that way about the perk Knockout. Personally I can't stand the perk and I don't think it should exist but that's neither here nor there.
I have zero idea how you tried to connect and compare 4% self unhook to tunneling? That’s very much giving me you’re trying to appeal to emotions but they’re completely different subjects and tunneling is a valid strategy, there’s nothing strategical about luck (4%).
And as to me looking for a reason I have yet to receive any. Most I’ve been getting is it’s “funny” and I don’t know what’s funny about a killer working overtime making all the right plays to comeback for them to lose it all to a 4%.
But the best “answer” I’ve seen here is that there’s already too many perks and offerings associated with 4% like slippery meat, luck offerings ect that for the devs to out date this mechanic would be impossible

This would be true if the killer wasn't also a player. How do you think it would feel on the survivor side if every time the killer hooked you, you had a 4% chance to just immediately die?
We would be the bestest of friends 🤣

Hi! Might be an unfamiliar concept but perhaps perchance maybe different players have different ways of having fun!
Some might find their fun playing very chill and casual, bringing in gimmicky builds and just doing tome challenges!! While others enjoy this game by setting a goal for themselves and try to dominate the other side as best they could as possible!! Wow! They are both completely valid ways of using this game as a way of having fun! Nice!!

Okay, I know I'm about to sound so stuck up right now, but really? In old DBD you'd get downed by a Billy revving his saw in a quarter of a second and then killed instantly cause he brought an ebony mori. As killer you'd lose 2 gens and then the entire team would escape because somebody brought a key. This game has had some of the most extremely onesided metas I've ever seen in a competitive environment, and now we're complaining about the 4% unhook?
Does anyone remember when Boil Over on RPD literally gave survivors an area on the map where they were guaranteed to escape from the Killer's shoulder, or when Ruin made gens nigh unrepairable until it was cleansed?
I mean, honestly, the 4% unhook is what's ruining your experience? Not BNP, not the vast multitude of exhaustion and second chance perks, the 4% chance that usually gets survivors killed when their forced into situations that make them desperate enough to try it? Really?
I'm sorry if I'm coming across as rude, but wow, this is a new one.
“How dare these new gens complain about 4%?!! Let me list a bunch of things us OGs had to go through!! That’ll really show em!”

Because outdated design is ok for survivors but not killers. Simple as 3 gen was outdated? Nerfed hook grabs outdated? Nerfed there's no reason why a survivor should just be able to jump off the hook and then get endurance and haste none (zero)
The devs talked about how awkward gen grabs were why don't they address how awkward the 4% is? If I have someone slugged and someone's on first hook (when everyone else has been killed) I'm gonna stand there and wait and see if they get off first before picking the slug up which just wastes everyone's time imagine if there was a mechanic where if you escaped there's a 4% chance to just get insta hooked on the other side of the map you think that would fly?
Oh I love you already, spot on

every patch is just nerf surv, buff killer, nerf surv, buff killer… it’s either that or anytime survivor get new perks the only decent ones get nerfed into the ground like a week after launch meanwhile overpowered killer perks get left as is for months and months on end. it’s so disappointing. ftp buckle up is inevitably getting nerfed bc god forbid survivors have anything to assist them in surviving. adren is gonna be on the list next probably meanwhile there’s perks like devour hope or no ed, or honestly even any insta down perk. i’ve always heard people say “survs have their hands held” but if im being frank it’s quite the opposite. huntress does not need 7 hatchets.
while you guys are at it you should make it so survivors spawn in the trial injured and add 60 seconds to gen completion, also remove fast vaults and nerf resilience. resi is too op.
anyway ima spend my money on siege instead cos im over dbd not caring about the survivor experience.

We literally just got a gen regression perk 2 days ago
This was posted before the new perks were released to the public and even then, the new regression perk relies on survivors missing skill checks which you almost 95% of the time never see in games at a high or even mid mmr unless you’re running a crazy doctor skill check build. It looks underwhelming and unreliable.

We are getting new fun killers ( Chucky, Xeno, Larry ). UW and Friends Until End are good and fun perks. GE also buffed and now it's meta too.
Billy also buffed to very fun level. Sadako is in good spot right now, she is really so fun after her last rework.
I am not complaining about killer content. But we are getting nothing but garbage for survivors.
Ellen got bad perks, there was amazing suggestions for make them viable. But no. Ignored. And now nobody uses them.
Gabriel got MfT and it nuked to ground. This perk deserved to be nerfed tho but still Gabriel did not give us any good perk. Non of his perks are seeing in trials.
Alan Wake got with amazing bad perks. If i would rank survivors by their perks Alan Wake would sit on F tier. And sad thing, there was really good suggestions for his perks as well but nothing happened ofcourse. Even his first week, i did not see anyone uses his perks. Even Champion of Light.
There was chance to make Quick Gambit viable but no, we only got meh number tweaks and called it a day. Ofcourse this perk is still dead as before.
Survivors are getting bad and bad content, nothing good. Tomorrow is PTB and we all know new survivor will have another 3 garbage perks nobody will use.
We are getting tweaks for few killers for next update and some of them are really excited. But what survivors are getting? Nothing.
Again, i am not complaining about killers are getting good content. But problem is that, survivors are not getting enough content. It feels like BHVR is just don't care about survivors.
The cherry picking is insaneeee. Survivors get a gen progression/speed perk every update while killer’s last regression perk was call of brine. Anti face camping was implemented, basekit bt implemented, hud icons implemented, you wanna talk fun perks? Plot twist, background player, buckle up + for the people ect… the list can go on but I just got back after not playing half a year and I already know they got as much so I really don’t wanna hear it

You can't just call anyone who disagrees with you a Survivor main and call it a day.
You don't ever really engage with people who make counterpoints, you only either respond to people agreeing with you or to people upset withyou.
Pulsy I just can’t escape you can’t I, you about to hit 20,000 posts, joined in 2019, clearly live breathe dbd forums, probably on here reading commenting scrolling more than you are on the game itself. Constantly checking up on my posts and reading all my comments with your fingers itching to type a response. If you're 4King every game and elevating yourself to high MMR then dealing with that stuff is going to be expected. It's like people want high MMR to be easy. If you don't like that stuff don't force yourself to 4K every game and allow youself to lose a few matches.
No I am totally in for the challenges that high mmr brings, that’s why I’ve been reaching out to comp players to join teams or 1v1 because a part of me wants to be humbled because every game I 4k at like 3 or 4 gens. And even in the “scrims” I’ve played in I also still 4k at 1/2/3 gens.
That does not change the fact that I do not think that combination of perks is healthy, and obviously look around, it’s so not just me who’s going on talking about this issue and for abundant reasons. I actually do NOT understand why I’m dealing with push backs on this forum? Like…? What…? I did not expect survivors to have such thick skin and audacity
-
I don’t understand why you choose to commit the Ad Hominem fallacy like that. My history of posts and my gameplay does not invalidate my points. If you have something productive to contribute in regards to this specific problem I’m presenting, I’m happy to hear.
And fyi, I 4k every game and I’m almost rank iri one and it hasn’t even been a week since reset and it’s also because of that I’m at an MMR where this combo is problematic, I can’t always afford to engage a silly prolonged chase when I’m not even running a slow down. Stop projecting your skill issues onto others and let’s acknowledge the subject brought up. Thank you!

I'm completely fine with the one being saved getting protection, but it's really annoying how the saviour also gets it. I don't care if it's strong or impactful, it just feels really cheap.
Ya just like how in comp there’s usually a “savior build” , a designated person with For the People equipped to prevent/prolong a tunnel-out of a teammate. Which is usually done straight after unhooking and is banned from combining with buckle up so it’ll be a trade for slug pressure then the killer will have to hit the healthy tunnel target twice.

This thread reminds me of a game I had awhile back vs spirit who was outright dominating everyone in the lobby until I got into chase with her using OTR and she straight up lost track of me cause of the grunts of pain silence
if anything BHVR needs to create more perks that silence your grunts of pain noises but they shouldn’t be iron will lvl busted and on top of that
get gud killer who loses their skill the moment a survivor’s pain noises are removed from the game
Well Spirit’s whole power heavily revolves around listening to sounds because she loses sight in her power. Sometimes I even like chasing survivors with OTR for that old iron will nostalgia but you understand I can’t always afford to have a chase longer than it should be because of a perk? If they survivor keeps running its fine I’ll hear the footsteps no problem but when they just stand still or starts walking after you lose LOS that brings us back to why old Iron Will was so problematic.

For those saying they “dont see it often”, it indicates where you are on the MMR scale imo. Since the changes, these 2 perks are run by at least 1, if not 2 survivors every match I play.
“Its not really and issue”, you don’t understand the value of delaying the first chase an extra 20+ seconds. The first chase has massive impact on how the remainder of the game goes and extending it into a minute, or minutes because of ftp + buckle up puts the match squarely in survivors hands.
You also now have to either tunnel out the survivor running it or risk having another chase extending later in the match. If 2 are running it, that duo can keep you busy long enough for the other 2 to finish 1-2 gens more, basically GG.
Just cause your playing random pub scrubs walking around the edges of the map, scared to alert crows running ftp + BU cause they read how OP it is on Reddit doesnt mean everyone is. In this setting, of course its a non issue. In a competitive setting where its clearly at least a duo that know how to play well, the killer is in for a sweatfest or at risk of a curb stomp.
I wish i could pin this comment

I feel like the Killer's handbook for survivor consists of 1 rule. Don't give the killer a reason to tunnel you 😏
The killer rule book certainly still exists, especially since 'reasons for tunneling' is encyclopedic just by itself.
But the original 'rule book' included things like 'don't run literal infinites', 'don't permanently sabotage hooks or traps', 'don't use BNP to instantly complete generators from 0'.
All of those things have been addressed and deleted from the game. But now, the rule book has just gotten more entitled over time.
Now, it's things like 'don't play like it's comp by predropping or running to the corner' (usually while the killer tunnels like there's a cash prize), 'don't do gens until the killer builds pressure', 'don't ever use functional tiles or line or sight', 'don't hold w to counter anti loop', 'don't use any useful survivor perks above C tier'.
Which, btw, all of those current reasons (and lots, lots more) are all things people claim are reasons they tunnel.
This is the exact reason why no one should play by a Non existent rule book on either side. I sure don’t, it’s not immoral to gen rush or tunnel, it’s Amoral.
Morality should not be brought on to video games specially a HORROR game?? You really expect me to be sunshine and rainbows after launching up this game and picking the role of the killer? No! Do whatever you need to win, and I use need very loosely, do whatever you want.
And no this does not contradict my post, if I played survivor and had the money to purchase those two perks I would be abusing it right now. But it does not change the fact that it’s not balanced or healthy in a general sense and I do love this game enough to understand balance is necessary
-
@xEa said:
"I dont see it that often so it is fine"
"It does not have a lot of impact"
Please, it is clearly an overpowered combo. If the majority of survivors use it well or if it is popular or not is not important. The fact that most killer with some exception (PH fe) cant do much about it when they coordinate makes it insanly difficult.
No, i am not a killer main, just an objective person who wants ballanced and fairness.
Exactly when I made this post I really did not expect to have survivor mains under in my comments trying to justify it.
You didn’t use to see a slugging condemn Sadako every single game either back when it was a problem but it did not change that it was an issue?
And as for them saying having someone trail your chase means they’re not on gen, on comms they can easily tell them to rotate towards their gen after the hit and apply FTP+BU that way.
So it’s possible under every and any post on here they’ll be people disagreeing with either willing ignorance or they’re just bored and in need of a debate

I completely overlooked the fact that you were running Spirit! I saw Wesker's face on Awakened Awareness, then his name in your comments, and the rest was history 🤣
In that case, you should totally explore the synergies with Awakened Awareness some more!
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/CXOCXUV9KPDO/image.png
I want to recommend this, but I have to admit I've never run this exact build. This is more of a theorycraft, but I will run it now so I'm not making you the guinea pig hahah
The idea with this build is that you're always chasing an Exposed survivor. Starstruck disincentivizes survivors from unhooking before you leave Make Your Choice range, while Awakened Awareness gives you the free down if they try anyway. Monstrous Shrine is the obvious headturner in this build, but I swear it is not a meme. The accelerated hook timer from Monstrous Shrine directly conflicts with Exposed survivors' desire to play it slow and stealthy, opening the door for more survivor mistakes.
I'm going to give this a go with Chucky, and I will report back after a few games (:
EDIT:
After 5 games, 4 were absolute blow-outs. The 5th was a 3k, but it took me 3 gens to get my first down--not sure if I was outclassed, or outplaying myself. MS forced a survivor to second stage twice, and I'd say Starstruck and MYC split the Exposed downs 50/50.
Biggest issue with the build is the potential for MYC and Starstruck to both be on cooldown, but that's a byproduct of building too much pressure, so it's not a huge setback.
If I was to swap out Monstrous Shrine, for something with more consistent value, I'd replace it with Sloppy Butcher or Spies from the Shadows.
You’re actually God sent I appreciate your help so much, idk if this isn’t too forward to ask on forums but would you be down to be friends? I would love someone that’s so knowledgeable about a game that I’m starting to be passionate about in again.
As for the build I think it’s definitely creative and can be oppressive with some luck but I’m still making the transition from using 4 gen control perks to a more gimmicky build. So far I’m really happy with results and I’m having fun but sometimes it does feel like my survivors are slipping out my hands. I posted like two videos running this build on YouTube by the same name as I got on here because it was exciting when things worked perfectly. But I had one unposted game where I still had 3 survivors alive at 1 gen which was not something I am used to at all and Starstruck clutched it up for me.

Not sure how much experience you have running Starstruck, but it is a perk you can force value from, by tactically choosing which hook to put the survivor on.
The indirect pressure created by Exposing survivors around a hook and 2 gens is just as strong as a quick down due to Exposed.
@concubined I've 2 recommendations depending on your preferred playstyle....
Optimal:
Agitation, Iron Grasp, Starstruck, and Grim Embrace
Your post-hook strategy should be to force survivors off any nearby gens and lock down all paths to the hook. You always want to carry survivors towards two gens that are close together, with the hook preferably in-between. Use Grim Embrace to tell you the anti-camping range. If able, hang around 12-15m for a while after hook, to delay Grim Embrace's effect--you want to create situations in which survivors need to hook bomb to avoid second stage (the later Grim Embrace activates, the less likely survivors are able to finish repairing their generator AND go for save).
You win the game by creating situations in which survivors cannot avoid Starstruck, and have to respect the threat that it provides.
Casual:
Agitation, Starstruck, Trail of Torment, and Nowhere to Hide
You will want to carry each survivor as close as possible to whichever generator you know is being worked on, then rely on Nowhere to Hide to find survivors while Trail of Torment gives you the drop on them. I find that Awakened Awareness leads me on wild goose chases for survivors who moved from their original hiding spot--Nowhere to Hide provides information when you need it, while you have the ability to act on it.
All-in-all, I like the build. Happy to see someone else is having fun with Starstruck at the moment
I really loved your insights and wisdom on the subject I didn’t know starstruck was so versatile. I also never thought to use grim embrace the way you suggested, I recently came back to the game after being off half a year so I’m unfamiliar with the AFC system they implemented but I have used grim to make sure I was out of the face camping range.
I play spirit loyally so I wouldn’t benefit from the stealth that Trail of Torment provides but ya the downsides of Awakened Awareness you mentioned have happened to me before but so have the opposite where the survivor does not know I have it and just stay thinking they’re immersed and I phase right on them for the quick down.
And of my play style, I’m everything the community deem as taboo and stigmatized. I tunnel one person out as early as I can and just clean up the rest is usually my game plan. Not sure if you have recommendations as to how I can fit that around a build like this but I’ve had survivors trying to prevent the tunnel out giving me starstruck value. I also have been slugging more than usual after using this build, it feels optimal.

GOOD, now you know why I said I don't think OTR is the problem when you can't even accept that your playstyle OF CHOICE is busted.
Its not about morality it is about common sense and game balance.
Girl can you be so serious with me and stop shaming other’s on how they choose to play the game. Tunneling is a valid strategy there’s nothing I need to accept because I’m secure in the way I play and I won’t let survivors force me into playing by a magical non existent rule book. People seem to have lost the meaning of the word balance. Balancing something is to not add something to one side too much or else it’ll be too heavy and tip off the scale, basekit BT? Added. Anti Face Camping? Added. Gen speed perk for survivors every new chapter when killer’s last gen REgression perk was CALL OF BRINE from when I first got this game with onryo’s release? Checked. Whats the issue then with OTR? When you want to tunnel as killer, why not simply hit the survivor after they get unhooked if they dont make sounds of pain? Or is it that you can not down them after unhook right away?
Well let me state the obvious bias here, I play spirit and sometimes even when I don’t tunnel I don’t like how survivors keep their silence part of the perk even after I downed the hooked like 2 other survivors and they have been working on gens healing ect. Bring me back to my old hell with old iron will.

Try playing survivor, about 50% of more of the killers tunnel on 5 gens.
Last week i played SoloQ, i played 3 games, and the reason i only played 3 games were that i didnt touch a single gen in 2 of them, because i was tunnled the whole game, as soon as i was unhooked the killer left what they were doing, even other chases to get back to me and tunnel. -- In one of the games 2 of the other survivors tried to give them self up for me, but the killer woud have none of it..
Now plz stop crying about anti tunnel perks, they are needed and we need more and stronger versions of them.
And that’s okay! Killers should have a choice on rather they want to tunnel or not and if they see fit to the situation. Me personally I always do what’s the most optimal in all situations and I don’t want my choices taken away or limited because this very valid strategy in this game has such a communal stigma around it. Historically survivors have had the most broken things in the game and this little shift is healthy, survivors can still escape and to the killers that tunnel they’ll just start to face harder and harder survivors that’ll punish them for tunneling. The game hasn’t been healthier in that sense. I hope you find your fun and have a good day

It doesn’t need to be dealt with that’s the biggest thing I wanna advocate for. We need to stop creating this image of the game in our heads that killers are our fairy godmothers and are all trying to get on everyone‘s nice list. I turned on this horror game and chose the role of the killer and my goal is to win just like the standard objective is for almost all players on every game in history, to win. The problem is when players try to bring morality into the video game, again, remind you I’m playing the role of the killer, “the bad guy”… come on… let’s be serious here

Just dont tunnel and it will not be an issue.
It’s never that simple, and if a killer wanna tunnel please stop stigmatizing that as a deep personal attack on one’s character it’s just a strategy and a valid one at that.

I'd rather hear it from you.
The video obviously resonated with me I’d rather you go watch it then we can have our cute little discussion about it afterwards than waste my time typing more or less the same concept and spoon feeding it to you.

Tunneling is bad from a couple separate perspectives.
From a monetary standpoint, it doesn't make sense to allow and encourage a playstyle that removes agency and creates a miserable experience for your main monetary base.
From a design standpoint, it's extremely unbalanced on a casual level. The amount of skill you need to correctly counter tunneling, much less the amount of coordination required to make it a losing strategy, DWARFS the amount of skill required to successfully employ the strategy. That's bad design 101.
And from a player experience standpoint, it's extremely poor. You are ruining one players experience for no other purpose than an easy win that will handicap you later. Tunneling is something a lot of Killers, myself included, crutch on. It's not necessarily bad to crutch on things from time to time, but it can seriously hamper your development as a player. It will cause you to win much more often and easily than the rest of your skills would allow on their own and in turn, place you against better opponents who can and will abuse you for not being up to snuff.
This creates several different issues where Killer players believe themselves to be better than everyone else after winning so much and then they get destroyed by actually good teams. Hence we get complaints about survivor death squads, how unplayable Killer is etc etc. In reality, the teams were likely beatable and the player just isn't as good as they think they are.
All in all, tunneling is an issue and the game would be far better if it were functionally made irrelevant.
I have been referring a lot of people to a YouTube video by the name of “You’re responsible for your own fun” posted by Ken which is a detailed and soft spoken form of what I would waste minutes typing in regards to “tunneling” in this game. I hope you enjoy the video and I’m happy to continue the discussion piggybacking your feedback on said video. Have a good day

DS should be buffed. It's a dead perk currently and Killers haven't ever tunneled more.
There needs to be a basekit punishment for tunneling.
I am so fed up with the “base kit base kit base kit” Jesus can killers play the game? Tunneling is “bad” because it’s a taboo in the community but it is a valid strategy nonetheless. I thank goodness everyday that base kit unbreakable was dropped because that would’ve broke the game.

OTR is hard countered by not tunneling. So is any version of DS.
Completely missed my point I see

Why should anyone agree with your post when you are wrong?
OTR has three effects, but they dont do anything against tunneling.
Endurance? Hit them off hook and all Endurance-effects are gone. Basekit Endurance, OTR, potential DH, potential BT.
No grunts of Pain? Does not matter if you want to tunnel. (Aside from playing against Spirit)
No Aura Read? Does not matter if you want to tunnel.
I used OTR when they buffed it and I admit that I got some use of the other effects (e.g. the Killer kicking a Gen with Nowhere to Hide not finding me). But overall the Perk is really, really lackluster. If the Killer tunnels, you will not get use of it. And if the Killer does not tunnel, you also wont get much use of it.
Oh, and btw.:
"With the upcoming DS rework which I’m assuming to be an unasked-for buff"
People asked for a DS-Buff because DS was the one thing that held tunneling in place at least a bit. I doubt that they buff it in a way that it discourages tunneling, because even if they revert it to 5 seconds, Killers will just push through it, because they learned that tunneling is the best they can do to win.
Very strange survivors were asking for a DS buff at all when patch 6.1 or any patch that resulted in a nerf to DS were the best patches launched. Mind you we’re talking about the perk that enraged survivors leading them to cry on socials like twitter and mass uninstalling Dead by Daylight as a protest to restore their beloved perk that they can’t handle life without, I mean talk about a meta shake up right. And mind you that’s the same perk that once have let survivors activate it without being hooked at all causing killers to have to juggle them to hook and stuff like that. DS has had a wild run in this game we don’t need another round of that insanity.

Not if you never lose sight of them.
Ok but why can’t y'all ever just agree on people’s posts instead of telling them to be wiggling and maneuvering around a perk that isn’t working as intended. If it disables from conspicuous action like it states let it be disabled entirely. Gosh

My point is they get value from other two effects no matter what

Oh my god, it's not about moral.
You have to understand here, we have a situation that the killer can always win and make the game extremely not fun for the opponent because there is no reason to not do it.
I never said, DO NOT TUNNEL at all, I said that tunneling at 5 gens right away is a problem. Like, I don't know if you play survivor, with that attitude I seriously doubt: imagine the game just started, you have a clown that decided that he is going to tunnel you because he think it's funny to piss people off. Like the moment you got unhook, he is coming back at you, you didn't do anything else than being chase and down by this clown, which will result in a lot of situation a guaranteed win for the killer. There is no reason for the killer to not use that strategy that is not fun for the person that is playing survivor most of the time, because there is no rewards for not doing it, no incentive. You can get as much points as the survivors just by doing that.
I never said neither that gen rush was not a problem, like I play killer too but it feels so much less frustrating and boring than the situation I am talking about.
I highly recommend a video on YouTube by the name of “You’re responsible for your own fun” by Ken. It’ll explain it better than I can wasting my time typing for oblivious survivor mains

I versed a Spirit earlier and can tell you it isn't. Stuck out like a sore thumb when every other killer I'd versed could be leaning over my shoulder and I wouldn't know they were there. Her noises stopped me from running straight into her at the start of the game.
If it makes you feel any better, we still got absolutely annihilated by said Spirit.
Thank you, ya I could tell as a spirit main this new mode isn’t for me as I would be missing out on the whole point of the mode where I can feel like a mini ghost face, sad but welp… better luck next game mode (hopefully there’s one)

cos theres zero.
The killer performs the arduous task of... opening a locker, and gains info on where everyone is inside his or her terror radius. Incredible hard work by the killer player. How is this inbred disgusting perk allowed to exist at all and hasn't been killswitched yet
Why is there a sudden rule when it comes to killer perks that we need to do a fun side quest to meet the requirements to gain access to our perks??
let’s compare to sprint burst with it side by side, perk activates, then cool down. Ya looks about the same just without the need to search a locker to waste time

Killer Instinct existed before Ultimate Weapon, use that if you can't find any survivors. Alternatively get better at the game and you'll find you won't even need the perk to begin with.
Hello, killer instinct provided by what perks exactly that’s remotely worth running? Also, please refrain from attacking me on my player skill as I’ve mentioned I find the perk UW most useful when I have 2 survivors dead by 4/3 gens and the last 2 are hiding or I’m slugging the third and looking for the last one for the 4k which happens almost every game for me. If you have real technical insights on the matter of which I started this forum for please do share but stay respectful. Good day.

I personally think that the hiding part in bdb is currently unhealthy. Yes, hiding is part of the game and should be part of it but the issue is perks such as Distortion and Calm Spirit force killers to use regression/slowdown perks because they are more reliable. When I play a fun auraperk build and have to deal with two or three Distortion users, it feels so unfun and boring even though I win. Then I think "ok running pain, pop, ge, and corrupt is more reliable and is not unfun because it will work". On the otherside, stealthy survivors are hurting their own teammates in SoloQ because they don't take chases or/and go down very quickly because they don't know how to loop.
Ultimate Weapon needs a nerf because a perk that gives you value for nothing should not exist (open a locker to have a LP, BBQ, and NWTH in one screamperk + blindness which is can be handy in a meta where WoO is so common). I really hope the developers won't nerf it to the ground because it would be enough to make it like a BBQ-screaming-perk - after hooking a survivor, you can open a locker to activate it. This would be completly fine because you have something to do to get it active.
Overall, Ultimate Weapon needs a fair nerf and the real issue of hiding should be addressed because keeping UW the way it is, is not the solution of the hidingissue (one perk should never be the solution of a gameplayissue in the metagame).
nicely written,
but I don’t understand what’s with people’s sudden insistence on thinking killer perks can only have their rewards granted after completing certain tasks or requirements.
Looking side by side with a survivor perk like sprint burst, UW works in a similar fashion of regranting reward that then lead to a cooldown, sprint burst actually don’t even require doing something time consuming like opening a locker but you get the point.
-
me trying to find the last two survivors hiding in a big map at 4 gens but apparently it’s my fault and I need to check behind every edge map rock and tree, every locker in every tile, every corner in every building and behind boxes and furniture that can easily take 15+ minutes. Wow! Yes!

If you're having trouble finding survivors in general, try out Whispers, it's exactly what you're looking for. It's balanced, works similarly to UW where it activates when a survivor enters your terror radius, but it still requires you to know how to find survivors. In scenarios where survivors just sit and hide for the rest of the game, Whispers will help pinpoint the circle of where the survivor could be. Also, Whispers doesn't get trumped by neither Distortion nor Calm Spirit.
While Whispers helps you get the job done with some effort required on your end, UW does the job for you effortlessly.
Hello! Thank you for your suggestion, it will not be taken into consideration unfortunately and I will have to remind you to please stay on the subject of “Ultimate Weapon”, a perk belonging to Xenomorph introduced to the hit game Dead by Daylight through the Alien Chapter DLC. If you have concerns about other perks I would be more than happy to discuss it in a thread you create yourself, have an amazing rest of your day/night!!

My point, regardless, still stands, BHVR can change content whenever and however they want since DBD, being a live service game, has all aspects subject to change, regardless if you agree with it or not.
Also my first point was tackling the very first statement you started with, you are not inherently entitled to something because you spent money on it, I too bought the Alien chapter for Ultimate Weapon, you might not like the idea of Ultimate Weapon being nerfed or even gutted but the entire idea of a live service game to add content and make changes accordingly, thus resulting in the potential for Ultimate Weapon being nerfed.
I read the rest of the post, Im not illiterate, I focused in on a point I disagreed with, and talked about it, it's an open forum so Im allowed to do that like any other post. If I wanted to tackle each and every problematic aspect of this perk, I could, but it would be a giant wall of text that 95% wont even bother to read, which is why I dont bother most of the time.
thank you so much for reading the entirety of my paragraphs, I would’ve assumed half way down you would’ve applied context clues and understood I meant I haven’t played the game for half a year and such a perk caught my eye so i immediately brought it to improve the quality of my gameplay experience and just don’t wish to see it nerfed to the ground. You have yourself a blessed day!

Nah tunneling has always been around and how strong it's been has varied but people have always done it. We also know what happens when you make tunneling weak and that's just as bad because survivors will absolutely abuse it.
The DS/Unbreakable meta was terrible to play with because of you tunneled you ate a 5 second stun, if you slugged they got up for free, and if you just left them alone they did gens and everyone had this so it created a scenario where if you were good enough 3/4 survivors were basically untouchable at the same time because you hooked them too rapidly. It was so bad that that actually did almost kill the game because nobody wanted to play killer because it was too frustrating I don't remember the exact numbers but it was something like 3 killers for every 100 survivors when you need 25 to maintain decent queue times. This is what lead to the giant perk and killer update right after Dredge released.
Has there been an overcorrection since then? Maybe but I don't think survivor is anywhere near as bad as killer was back then. But I don't think you could ever kill tunneling without making killer stupid strong or stupid weak. You can bring 5 second DS back and I think even that would do barely anything atp. At least for soloQ in SWF one good teammate with a flashlight legit makes tunneling a nightmare so at least there's that.
Thank you for having common sense
