The argument behind 'Killer sided' vs 'Survivor sided' is overused and grown stale.
I don't watch Otzdarva and don't plan on it anytime soon, I can tell however when he tosses up a video about a build for a specific Killer because I'll see an influx of a particular Killer bringing the very same build over a period of time until the newness wears off.
I also don't play any of the three listed, my preferences when playing Killer shift more towards Pyramid Head, Wesker and Ghostface with the occasional joy of Basement Bubba and random trap Trapper. Despite not playing Nurse/Blight/Spirit I have no issues busting out a 4k win.
I think the plethora of survivors I've roflwhomped with Trapper alone would argue differently about DBD being survivor sided.
Shifting perspectives.
When playing survivor I've experienced variety in Nurse/Blight/Spirit and by variety I'm referring to RNG of a map along with their desired perks to play with. I've had wins again them, I've had loses.
It's okay to have bad games on either side of the playing field.
-
Makes you wonder if Bingbong would've reported them afterwards had they been the one to 4k and not the survivors.
-
I have a link bookmarked that I use when I want to report unruly players on DBD.
-
Hiding your profile name has its pros and cons.
It does reduce any form of harassment outside the game, which we all know does happen. Whether it be a private message in your inbox, a comment on your profile and anything in between. To me, thats a pro. Having a Killer or Survivor contact me after the game because I roflwhomped them in a match or embarrassed them at a pallet is unnecessary.
It does make it hard to avoid that person in the future if you don't have a name to draw back on. I have had the displeasure of being matched up with players who I didn't want matched up with again. Had a hacker for one and a Wesker simp for another, was able to recognize them on the fly and decide if I wanted to remain in the lobby or not. Harder to do without seeing names.
In my eyes, not being harassed has a bigger calling AND if someone opts to abuse it and come into a trial and sabotage it -- guess what? -- report function still works.

All my matchs tonight have been just killers tunneling me or camping everyone on my team I barely make it without being tunneled out of the match. Did I do something wrong to the game to get this constantly?
I'm unsure how many trials you played that tunneling/camping was shoved down your throat, but for me I usually bounce to something else before wanting to pull my hair out. I tend to see more tunneling and camping following reset day as well as when new content (whether it be Killer, Survivor or both) is released.
I like to tell this type of Killer "If your skills paid the bills, you'd be homeless."

Sheva was one of main protagonist of resident evil 5 and should deserved her own character. She could have so many skins etc. But instead we got rebecca why?
In that mindset, Chris should've been his own survivor as well. Along with Claire apart from Jill. James apart from Cheryl. I don't mind the skins being attached to an already implemented survivor, for the licensed characters they need permission to do cosmetics for them anywho -- Im just glad we have them in general.

There's always a TV within 16 metres-ish around a generator, so there's one for pretty much every generator
Doesn't mean that TV is active for us to interact with, I rounded an entire map at one point before finding a TV that was active in order for me to snatch a tape. Blockbuster making it hard to rent but easy to return 🤣

It does have some servers, but its lacking in other areas such as Russia, South America and Africa.
Lacking in Africa might be why everyone besides the Killer was dealing with random latency spikes. Oof.

I've only played her twice and Christ this is almost as tedious as going up against a Skull Merchant
Thankfully it's not because she makes the game last 60 minutes but both I played against just teleported all over the map like Nightcrawler. Every time I tried to get to a TV, she'd teleport to it. Just teleport teleport teleport teleport teleport teleport teleport teleport teleport teleport, never actually going after anyone, just zipping around until everyone is Condemned and killing them.
We'll see how it goes I suppose but man were both these games annoying AF to face her in...
Thats been my experience as well. I've only faced 7 of them, only 2 of which didn't spam teleport during trial. Smack person in chase with tape, teleport, smack another person with tape, teleport, never fully commit to chase. Teleport, tunnel someone close to being completely condemned, mori, rinse and repeat. I love the idea of her gameplay being more on the survivors, people actually dealing with tapes but I can look back on my match recordings and see the most I did during an entire trial before being completely condemned was trying to find a TV she didn't just recently teleport to in order to get a tape. :c
-
I keep wondering how many TVs are around the map.

They literally start screaming right at the moment their bodies start to get pierced if you look at the animation closely so it makes sense instead of starting with a delay which after a second of being hooked
Oh yea, for sure. It caught me off guard at first and I was like "Maybe it was just me," then it kept happening and I told myself "Nope, def not just me." lol

Screaming before being hooked? I'd been calling it the Pain Resonance nerf.

NGL, really adore Vitto's outfit. I know who I'm playing more when the colder holidays hit!

A 3 gen-ing Skull Merchant? I mean - Dull Merchant? Time to have a basement party.

Some of the new portraits are just tilted left or right but they are bigger in size which makes searching for a specific person when you own everyone a pain if your brain doesn't click with the memory of where their portrait is lol.
A compact or old version in options for portraits?

Not just my thread, constant reports of it on Reddit and Twitter too. And I know multiple people experiencing it.
DC’ing purposely isn’t okay, I totally agree and the DC penalty is usually a necessity sure, but right now it needs flat switching off as people are accruing the penalty because the servers keep crashing.
It isn’t okay
Did you get kicked from a trial and end up with an unusual penalty? :c
-
@Chanel16494 said:
Let’s stop the needless god damn arguing about the damn DC penalty for 5 effing minutes maybe?
And address the actual issue that the game is constantly crashing and applying the DC penalty because of it at the moment?
I get ya’ll think the DC penalty is a good thing, and usually it is, but right now it NEEDS to be disabled because the servers are an unstable mess. Arguing they’re great just means when there’s legitimate issues like there are now, that they don’t get fixed or band-aids aren’t temporarily put into place such as disabling the penalty.
Enough is enough, christ.
Pretty sure I spotted a thread about people having issues somewhere, yea.

I stand by my statement. Your break wasn't even a full 2 weeks. Even assuming your last DC was within a week or two is that, it's still not even a month. That's the minimum amount of time I'd personally expect any kind of decay to occur, so I don't think it's outside expectation that your 15 minute penalties would hit the lowest minimum possible (unless 5 min is that minimum)
Without an actual break down of the penalties we'll never really know. I'd sure hate for this to be a hiccup in the update somewhere that has made a mess of DCs. Wouldn't want to be someone who is booted from their trial without their consent to end up with a 30 minute match making lock when they're someone who never drops from matches.

It started with 1 minute, but then was extended to 5 when dc’ing became more common again.
Any clue if there was a notice sent out to players or an announcement or something in the news, Twitter perhaps even that stated they were shifting the penalty? I have searched high and low and have found bupkis.

So, just to be clear, your break was less than 2 weeks long? And, when you left, your penalties were at 15 minutes.
I'm with Peanits on this. What did you expect to happen? Even if the decay were a minute that would put you at about a 4 minute penalty (I know that isn't how it works, the point is the break isn't really long enough to expect sufficient decay)
My last match was on the 14th, hadn't been on it since. 15 minutes is the last known penalty I recall all together, not starting the day of the 14th. Its simply the last one I remember having period.
-
I don't BM unless the Killer starts out tunneling or camping, then its all gloves off. Sometimes it works getting their attention away from the freshly unhooked survivor, sometimes it doesnt.
-
My experience of her today has been 50/50. One tunneled from the start and the other I couldn't put the tape into any TV, it was a specific one I had to place it in. I believe she came in with this add-on.

I'm pretty sure 5 minutes is the norm in most cases. When I have a internet hiccup it's usually 5 minutes, though when I get it sorted and hop on it's down to just a minute or so left.
I have had cases where I got disconnected like 4-5 times in a row because of server issues but I never got a penalty for those. Other times I've had hiccups and no penalty as well so there seems to be some kind of hidden thing there with how it detects or doesn't.
Main point though is 5 minutes isn't bad at all. If your internet dies or kicks you then by the time you get it sorted, the penalty is normally done. DCing on purpose and then getting a 5 min penalty to start is also fair IMO. Any less and it serves no point.
That's the thing, I never recall starting at a 5 minute penalty, I believe it was more as when I finally tabbed out of the trial I saw it was 5 minutes and I had lingered a for a few minutes more in the trial to witness my bots actions.
Someone mentioned transparency on players penalty times which I whole heartedly agree. When leaving a match rather than just have "Are you sure you want to leave this match? Leaving the match counts as defeat." they could add "Leaving the match will cause you to have an X penalty." before you hit the finalized 'Leave Match' prompt.

The bots are there to fill in for survivors rage quitting games or unwillingly disconnecting and not as your toy for ranked matches.
If you want to see bots in action, play a custom game as killer with bot survivors.
Not a single person in this entire thread mentioned ranked matches, not sure where that came from?
Gaming is a form of entertainment, a toy in a sense.
Now again, the bot was a fresh experience for me. A fresh experience in a game where more often than not its the same build being brought in from both sides and scarcely anything new, hence why I'm tickled to experience Sadako in her new light.
With one bug already noticed, players screaming before being placed on hooks, I questioned whether or not bots functioned in public trials as they were displayed in the PTB or if the bot would even replace my slot in the match.
Yet again, I raised a brow at a 5 minute (and now that I think about it since I sat around and watched the match a small bit it was likely more than that as I had 5 minutes when I finally tabbed out) timer when returning to lobby.

Is anyone else having severely long queue times? I've currently been looking for a game over 5 minutes and someone else said they were waiting for over 7 minutes.
EU Servers
If you have a bonus for Killer or Survivor give that role a shot, its BHVR's incentive to promote players venturing to that side when there are too little or too many playing a certain role - the role with the bonus SHOULD have a swifter queue.

I'll state the very same thing I stated to someone else:
I came to the forums to, more or less, seek out if anyone else who DCed, for whatever reasoning, experienced an unusual lockout timer. In many of my replies and comments before I stated I was gone for roughly 2 weeks and even before then I could only recall having a maximum of a 15 minute timer IF THAT. To come back to a 5 minute timer after playing well into a match and not being a potato in the corner made me raise a brow. Out of many of the replies on here the majority have been less than desirable, others have been of the positive nature and I still thank them graciously for that.

How about some transparency in regards to what exactly the policy is then? Players shouldn't have to guess what their "penalty" actually is.
There are ample things I'd love to see in the Feedback and Suggestions forums and this is one of the more eye pleasing ones. For those who make it a full blown habit to DC when anyone goes wrong for them it might be a proper deterrent (since I recall someone mentioning earlier that DC penalties are a good deterrent for DCing again) for those who do make it a habit or what have you.

I'm not trying to argue or debate. If that's what you want to do... don't bother replying, because I'm not gonna answer beyond this. I was simply stating there is no new bots. They've had these bots in the game for awhile now, they just weren't tied to DCing b4. These are the same bots ppl have seen during the tutorial practice matches and the custom matches. Considering they locked 2 characters behind those practice matches now, it's pretty realistic to think ALOT of ppl have already seen them in action if no other reason than to unlock those 2 characters.
The bots we have now and the bots we had during the tutorial are, while the same, wildly different in the sense that they had to be improved upon before being implemented into the full blown public matches.
And despite you saying you're not going to answer I'm going to place this one question out there: Why insert your input somewhere in a General Discussion thread if the idea of debating, discussion or even potentially arguing is what will make you flee a conversation?
I play public matches, I don't play customs, its not unreasonable to think that someone that's been playing for years hasn't gotten to experience the bots in their more pristine form especially when II cant tell you what year I played the tutorial and those bots then were clunky at best.

The game cant tell the difference between a crash and a disconnect. if it were to exclude crashes, people could just use the og method of pulling their internet connection to force crashes. It sucks but logistically there isnt really a way to differentiate.
I'd imagine that pulling the cord would boot you back to the black screen, would take a little more time for the net to re-establish itself I would think.
I've experienced a split second hiccup in connection a time or two and always wondered why when a DC happens you don't see the Killer's perks but the game will show you their perks if a connection issue occurs for the faintest of connection hiccups - just enough to drop you from the trial but not the game entirely.

@LordGlint said:
Having SOME downtime after a crash/ragequit sounds like a good thing to me. Gives time to settle any issues on your end, whether that be time to take a breath and calm down or time to check your internet connection. If the time is over by the time you exit the match screen, it didn't really do anything at all did it?
That being said, just like someone above me pointed out... there's no reason to "test the bots" by DCing. The bots themselves arnt new, just the usage of them in normal matches as opposed to custom matches is new.
For those who don't play custom matches, that would be considered new. Twisting my words into 'test the bots' is far from how I implied it. If I wanted to 'test the bots' I would've played the PTB and I would've fiddled about with custom matches. I didn't want to 'test the bots' I wanted to "see the new bot in action" as it had been a rather popular highlight of upcoming changes and improvements.
Let me state, once more, I didn't DC as soon as the match started. I played well into 10 minutes of it before remembering bots were a thing and opted to check it out while under the impression I'd be alright after a two weekish hiatus where, even then, I don't believe I had a penalty that was over 15 minutes per the last time (who knows when) I had DCed (Note: I didnt take my wee break because of a 15 minute penalty, I simply recall that being the most I had prior to the date I started my break)

@Aven_Fallen said:
It used to be 5 minutes since the implementation. Then at some point it got set to 1 minute, I think the Servers were not stable during this time so they reduced the Penalty to 1 minute for the first DC to make it less severe if someone crashes unintentionally.
Seems like they reverted this (and granted, I did only crash like two times over the past months, DBD has been really stable for me).
See, these responses are appreciated. Responses that aren't here because they've nothing better to do than troll forums posts. It's also one of the more informative posts and I thank you kindly for that.

Oh no, are you trying to fluff your post numbers? I didn't expect a penalty, sure but I know its to be expected after one after the other. What I don't expect is for it to be 5+ minutes out of the gate.
-
@Peanits said:
So two things on that:
- DC penalties do not 'reset', they slowly decay over time. If your penalties were really long, it's possible they still haven't fully decayed when you came back.
- I'm not sure what you expected to happen.
- I didn't have penalties to the extreme to come back to a 5 minute starting penalty..... 15 minutes at most before I took my break (that started on the 14th of this month and didnt log in until today.) How SLOW is this decay?
- I guess bugs will be bugs.
-
Mhm. I thought it was just a one time thing but it kept happening for every single hook per match.
-
@pseudechis said:
Yeah but the system doesn't know why you DC'd.
5 mins appears to be a better deterrent as what you demonstrate here is the lack of deterrent that a shorter lock out is.
Given the willingness to DC, for whatever reason, based on how short the first lockout timer is.
Feeling that the lockout is too long is kinda the purpose of the lockouts job, to motivate you not to DC.
In my years of playing this game (The forum account is young, yes) I never started out at 5 minutes, I never started out at 10 minutes. The DC penalty has started at the supposedly minimum of 30 seconds, not 5 minutes. This post would've been the same had it been an hour, or 6 - coming back from a brief break to be slapped in the face with a 5 min penalty was a bit much especially if there was no mention of changes to the penalties itself. I did a generator, picked up two players that were slugged, unhooked a player, took chase several times and remembered the bots were a thing, wanted to see a bot in action. Sure the game doesn't know I wanted to see the bot in action and nor should it, but it certainly didnt need to bump itself up to a 5 min penalty from the start.
-
@brokedownpalace said:
Unless they recently changed it, the first DC penalty is not 5 minutes. I think it the first is like 1 minute, then 5, then 15, 15, 30, 1 hour, 6 hours, etc

I upvoted this yesterday and a few of the commenting posts as I agreed whole-heartedly with this. I've returned to this as it happened to me last night. Now, my higher leveled survivor isn't a p100 but I'm still above p50 so its still a little higher.
Went against a Wraith on RPD, great loops between me and him - he had a hard time catching me so he whittled away at the less abled loopers until I was simply left on hook to die by the fearful Nancy who Urban Evaded for the last 3 hooks of her team-mates.
I offered a GGWP in endgame chat and Wraith opted to do his best to get under my skin:
"be better Carlos"
"lvl ** noob xd"
"lvl ** u a joke"
I turned to a slightly different page in my book and offered a few of my owns words back. Apologized for embarrassing him around loops that made him feel the need to throw darts at me for my favorite character being higher level than his dainty Bingbong.
tl:dr Yes, I'd like to hide prestige too - but namely for those who dislike ridiculousness like that.
-
Makes sense the hook is gone to me. The Entity gobbles up the dead survivor, the hooks a little extra crunch.
-
I was hit right off the hook while he was in power which ate my BT, my Off the Record was active after that - I suppose that endurance effect doesnt count either?
-
Good thing we didn't have a map with this one. RIP Hawkins.
