Now if they took away the ability to read auras for survivors who tried to blind you, I couldn't care less if they got rid of that, I could take it or leave it. I only use lightborn if I see its a flashlight lobby and just feel like doing the meme where I pretend I don't have it, look up, down, and away, just to get some free hits (and a DC here and there when they realise I have it LOL)
-
Killer mains "The devs don't give a damn about killer mains" then on another post from a survivor main "The devs don't give a damn about survivor mains" ...
Some aspects of the game needed to be buffed for killer. And I play 60-70% survivor. There's always going to be something where "the devs did X for the other side, we should get Y." Sometimes a perk a survivor or killer use cancels out a mechanic/perk/strategy of the other side. They have to use a whole perk slot to use it. Lightborn is also a meme perk, and it will only force survivors to do gens instead of running around the map being a little clicky flashlight cowboy trying to get out-of-the-way flashlight saves they were never going to get anyway.
-
They have no idea they'll never be good is what's funniest. You won't get better bailing on any killer who "you can't even... you just can't even..." LOL
I agree with the OP, just play the damn game. You can't win em all, and won't if you bail just bc its a killer you hate, or if you're the first down or whatever.

Ace's perks got no love XD

I also thought the Ruin nerf a bit overkill, I'd have either nerfed the regression speeds OR made it break after a kill, but not both.
I think I'd have preferred if they had made it STRONGER but make it break on first kill. Doing so would have made the perk very appealing, while simultaneously making it far less effective for camping/tunneling killers, as you'd be trying to spread hook states to not break the perk yourself. Two birds with one stone.
Thats how I felt about a lot of these nerfs. They nerf by changing two things where only one was necessary. Like DS, fine, don't make it work endgame, maybe even dont make it work out of a locker, but keep the 5 seconds. With ruin, my problem with it is solo queuing and the fact that 90% of teammates I get just ignore it, and will run off their gen every time they get any sort of terror radius. But that has nothing to do with the perk being bad, its the solo queue survivors (most, not all). Its strong, but its also a hex... just find it and cleanse it. Fair. So I'm glad for this nerf only bc of the fact most survivors just ignore it, so a lot of killers opting to not run it will be awesome. But they either should have nerfed the speed, made it snuff itself out after one kill, but not BOTH. It shouldn't even be a Hex bc now, they get slower regression and can STILL lose it right a way. They overdid it with too many perks that way. Nerf a perk to encourage people to play others, either as they are, or perks that got buffs. But nerfing a perk making it useless just switches the meta overnight. Now we have another boring meta. What changed? But if the nerfed perks were still playable, it wouldn't be simply replacing perk A with the new B. We would have tons of perks to play around with instead of switching a handful of good ones for another.

I don't know about you, but me and my friends play only one survivor, we don't change it each game and even for killers, I don't play more than 4 regularly.
and even with this system, there will be very little players that are actually going to get everyone prestige 3, which as you said is also ass in the long run. You need a lot of BP for something like that and you are doing it for characters you don't care about.
Most players will go with path prestige 1 and bloodweb anyway. You really expect everyone to completely ignore character they want to play and spend 4,5M on characters they don't care about? That's lots of wasted offerings / addons.
75% decrease is just not true. It's 60% at best and only for those who want literally every perk on every character. So it doesn't make up for it.
I am going for BBQ 4 stack during this event each game and in most of them, I get it. Unless I am doing challenge on killer like clown or something. So yeah, if I want BP I make sure to hook everyone. So sure, it's not 100%, but like 90%.
You are still going to need more games to get what you want than with current system.
Even if its a survivor I'll never play, unlocking the perk the one time, making it available forever is way better. and you don't have to P3 them if you're only going to play 1 or a few survivors. Just get them to P1 and get the rest in your mains bloodweb. Or don't bother if you don't want their perks. But you're talking about only playing one character ever, forever. Tons of people don't do that. Some do, sure. Or some main 1 or 2 but while they play others, its not as common. But, I'll go ahead and agree to disagree, bc more often than not people want variety. They want to know that if a new survivor/killer comes out that they just have to try, they can now do so without that "ah damn, I gotta save up all this bp to get perks on them. They will already have all the perks they unlocked. It really is better for most people. Sorry if you feel it sucks for you, but its awesome for me and about 80% (again, making this up a percentage but I'd say its a high number like that) of players this change makes things easier, including new players. New players still got to start the new grind with almost nothing, but it snowballs for them, unlike now.

THIS! I remember how kinda disappointed I was once I got my first character to lvl 40, just to realize that the shiny new perks were still locked away behind RNG and a sizable BP investment. Even worse, I realized that I only got until bloodweb lvl 50 "tries" or "shots" to get a good build, as everything beyond that would effectively wasted once I prestiged that character ... and being new I wanted some cool new cosmetics.
The new system feels so much more meaningful: level one character up (you don't even have to play them, just spend your BP in their web) and instantly get the more options for the whole team.
Dude it SUCKED watching some youtube video with a perk build you wanted to try only to miss that perk in the blood web over and over. And you'd get tier 1... but tier 2 didn't come for like 8 more webs LOL. I truly felt like Anikin Skywalker yelling about how outrageous and unfair it is LOLOLOL.

a medium skill survivor can loop m1 killers better than it is possible to chase on those tiles. You don't realize that is how the game works though do you?
And then a killer like Nemesis, PH, Plague who are a huge step up from M1 can once again be looped by high tier MMR players beyond what it is possible for the killer to hande - purely as a function of game mechanics.
But only the very top 1% of players can do much of anything against Blight and Nurse because those two killers change how a chase works. Those two killers are required to make a mistake for them to not hit you. Every other killer in the game requires the survivor to make one or two mistakes to score a hit.
Sounds like "buff the game for killers bc I play killer" logic. Killers have to learn to loop too, its that simple. I play both sides, I learn both sides (shrugs) but maybe I'm just BELT DEFFRENT XD

You didn't read it all, did you?
its great for new players who suffer at the current grind
Issue is that it's going to be even worse for them.
that claim a change ruins something for players like them
I already have all perks unlucked on everyone. It's great for me, because I won't have to deal with new killer farming, but I am not going to be happy just because it's good for me, when I see it sucks for those who needs it most.
No I read it, I just don't think you understand the update. So what, its better for a new player to log on, get every survivor or killer to 40, then go in that players bloodweb and unlock all these perks to tier 3? And hope they get the perks they want to play with first, not at complete random? Thats ass in the long run. MOST players will want to play more than 1 character as they progress. They're supposed to wash, rinse, repeat? That's nonsense. Its 1000% (chill, I made up that percentage for hyperbole) easier for new survivors. and as for BBQ/WGLF, that wasn't a 100% increase in BP everytime. Every killer got 4 hooks from 4 different survivors everytime? Its easier to get 4 WGLF stacks but even then, its not always 4. The 75% decrease in grind more than makes up for it. If someone only wants to play one character, the game can't be built around those people.
-
you gotta ignore these things. They really don't matter. Its only a flashlight. and If you see lobbies with flashlight, do you use lightborn? Is that what makes you angry? you didn't get a chance to equip it? Just ignore these things and enjoy the game, instead of taking the time to post a thread about it, that the "last minute clicky flashlight switcher" that broke the camel's back and caused you to post this, won't even see. But when people straight up admit to DC'ing over petty garbage, I know they're the type that will always be frustrated over something in DBD.

F* it!!!! Lets do it. I'd really like to see this put into place, only to see posts saying "struggle states take way too long causing killers to want to DC and get no bloodpoints" then in the posts:
Title... the time it takes for survivors on hook to die takes way too long and because of this, I end up getting impatient, DC and get no bp which is unfair... BHVR has been survivor sided for a long time and it shows...
-
Tell me you're a killer main who camps because you can't loop tiles without saying you're a killer main who camps because you can't loop tiles XD
-
This goes to show, no matter what BHVR does, it won't be good enough and you can't please everybody. There's always going to be people in a small demographic that claim a change ruins something for players like them, but they will be in the minority. Its for the greater good, its great for new players who suffer at the current grind, and the game's numbers suffer overall.

if the iron will nerf goes threw can character’s have a set range of volume because some characters are far louder than others an it’s a major disadvantage an it’s incredibly annoying claire is a major example of this without iron will she’s one of most annoying characters to play jane as well i think every character should have the same set of volume this also makes people not play or buy more characters because they are a disadvantage for playing plus ace literally has built in iron will ace mains eating good right now lol
I don't understand why they don't lower the volume on survivors that are obviously louder than others, make them all somewhat equal the best they can anyways. David was my first main, and I still use him but won't without either Iron Will, or a boosted med kit to heal a few times cuz his grunts are too much if I'm super frustrated. Thats why I've opened up my "mains" roster and added ACE... he's whisper quiet. He's practically got "Iron Will light" as basekit LOL

Survivors have to manage their gens to avoid a three gen. Killers can manage their hooks.
This. I can't think of any time where I've used up a hook due to killing a survivor on it, and not being able to hook another survivor endgame because that hook being gone now made it a dead zone and all the other survivors got downed near it. I've maybe lost a survivor or two due to a certain hook being gone allowing a survivor to wiggle off, but that's not THAT common. The scenario the OP described has to be SUPER rare to "literally" make the objective of hooking survivors impossible, and doesn't really require a fix IMO.

Like smooth jazz?
-
I loved legion before the rework but will admit they were weak. with the new rework, as someone mentioned already, if you think legion is weak, you're not playing them right. They're not S tier but very playable after the rework.
-
If Micheal Myers, Trapper, legion, or whoever were real, and chasing my friend through a door, would me body-blocking the killer after my friend passed through stop the killer? Yes. What would/should the killer do? Hit me with their weapon. IF the killer being all-powerful were really to be followed for every little detail, then every hit should be a one-time insta-kill should it not? Tons of stuff in the game doesn't follow logic. If I'm beefy Myers, and have a survivor on my shoulder, you think a flashlight is going to make me drop them? NEWP (a flashbang would do it tho LOL).
Its just being questioned bc its something that keeps you from achieving your goal which is catching someone, getting them to hook, ect. But it adds to the strategy IMO, and body blocking (to my dismay when I play survivor, and delight when I play killer) is often overdone, and usually not done when it will actually make a difference. Survivors body-blocking me when I have their teammate and I'm 10 meters from the hook does NOTHING for them but gives me free hits they then have to waste time to heal, or give me a down if I catch them. Its risk/reward for survivors and that adds to the fun is all I'm saying.

That’s why I think that it’s out of the question that survivors won’t run OTR. All of its current effects plus endurance for up to 80 seconds (if you don’t do anything) will ensure protection from killers and careless teammates alike.
agreed. People are going to run the PISS out of this LOL. Surely they're going to tweek a few of these nerfs/buffs after the PTB. BHVR is BHVR but surely they'll see there needs to be a few tweeks.

They literally are just replacing BT with OTR, though. It isn’t even questionable. OTR will be a must in every survivor’s load out.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3028390#Comment_3028390
BT wasn’t nerfed at all. It’s still going to be usable in the end game. Only DS was nerfed to not.
ah, my mistake on that, I was thinking of DS but thought it was both for some reason. Still don't think it needed a nerf. I think is needed that buff even with a "borrowed time lite" is becoming basekit. I'm even fine with what they did to Off The Record, except the time duration is WAY too long. But all in all, they did nothing for camping, and what they did for tunneling should only matter to tunnelers. if you want to tunnel (in general, not calling anyone specific a tunneler) should have to work for it.
Also I worry the basekit borrowed time is going to have the negative effect of teammates just unkooking willy nilly bc "hey, we all have borrowed time right?" But 5 seconds really isn't THAT much, but I feel like teammates are going to just unhook in front of the killer anyways, even if they weren't going to tunnel, and really didn't get a chance to actually leave the hook. I can't stand getting unhooked like 5 seconds after getting hooked when I can still see the killer but see they gave me borrowed time. It really doesn't make you invincible, and you can still be easily tunneled, but some survivors think BT is a "free unhook" but its only an extra line of defense IF the killer is ACTUALLY going to tunnel. But if a survivor gets unhooked in front of a killer, what are they supposed to do, ignore it LOL? I don't when I play killer. So the new basekit BT is going to be Farm City, USA in a lot of solo queues LOL
-
Not every perk listed in the changes was meant to be a nerf, and BT is a must for tunneling, even with it becoming basekit. Its only 5 seconds, thats really not that much. So BT still serves its purpose. If you don't want to run it, great, everyone still gets a little something, but if you want actual BT, the basekit change doesn't make it not worth running. All in all, the only people who have a problem with BT are tunnelers... couldn't care less about them anyway XD
Plus, it not being able to be used in endgame is still a decent nerf to the perk.

stopped reading after i saw escaped at 50 percent rate in solo q against nurse.. you arent fooling anyone sorry
Sorry games have been rough for you. I'll bet you DC a lot XD.
-
I pretty much only solo queue. I haven't actually kept track, but I would say I escape against a nurse at least ***50% of the time. Nurse can be OP, especially against a solo queue, and especially with certain add-ons, but her learning curve is also pretty steep. There are a good amount of Nurses who are still learning and they are fun to loop. I say "accept your fate" of taking chase as much as possible to learn how to juke them. If they blink where they think you're going to be without keeping line of site... PUNISH them for it LOL. If I'm running around a corner and no longer see them while looking behind me, and hear them blink, I double back. This works against even somewhat decent nurses if they're in that bad habit of blinking on faith. All in all, a really good nurse, you're going to need more than that, but the more you juke beginner-intermediate nurses, you get better, and the matches get funner :)
All in all, Nurse is a tough killer to play as, and play against, but its not always a death sentence as long as you don't try to loop them around tiles, the same way you would most other killers. Breaking line-of-sight will be your best friend as the nurse is SOOOOO much slower than other killers when she's not using her blink to travel. Survivors run at 4.0m/s and Nurse "runs" at 3.6m/s so unless she's blinking she's actually slower than you.

They managed to open gates and then just wait there. I would understand Teabagging -> just toxic players, normal.
Or they wanted to give hit for extra BP, but they instead wait there till I get close on then leave in my face.
They are not toxic in endgame chat, or during the game.
It's understandable if someone is not safe and they want to waste my time to help them, but when everyone is fine, it just doesn't make sense to me.
They're just being petty, even if they're aren't necessarily trying to be super "toxic." It feels lke a more complete escape to them if they see you, see them escape. That matters to some players. "Hey look, I escaped, you didn't get me" and that sort of thing. When I know their at the exit gates, and have no way of stopping them from leaving, I don't even go. I just go find pallets or walls to break, maybe even try to find hatch to close it if its the last survivor at the exit gate. I don't have time for that sort of stuff. Let them waste time while I gather more BP LOL

For those of us with hearing problems, SC was a perk that helped us gain awareness of what's going on around us.
Damn, I I have friends who are Deaf who rely on a handful of perks with spine chill being the absolute main one, and now it will make the game way more harder for anyone hearing impaired. Glad somebody else said something about it as well. I'd like to see some features for the hearing impaired implemented at some point.
-
All I know is, this game doesn't have any built-in features that help players who are Deaf (there's more Deaf people playing this game than you think), or hard of hearing like some other games do. Fortnite comes to mind but I know there are others. Their only option is to use certain perks to help them visually. I have two friends who are Deaf who play this game, and spine chill was a must for them. Its kind of boring for them to use the same 4-6 perks but its very hard to play without them. Seriously, play a few games with no sound. I've tried it to see how it is for them. Its harder for me since I'm used to relying on sound, and they're obviously used to it, but its still very hard when you can't hear. Nerfing it the way they did, makes it useless, and the game is borderline unplayable for the hearing impaired now. Spine chill was the biggest help for Deaf people playing this game. Sure, a lot of the game is visual, and yes, they still have to look around like the hearing do (and they do), but think about how hard the game would be if the killer NEVER had a terror radius. Imagine not hearing the lullaby of any ranged killer. Sometimes you hear these things long before you see the killer, so "well they can just look around like the rest of us" doesn't really replace it. As I already said they do, but we also rely on hearing so much. Well done devs, per usual XD.

They'll never give solo something that SWF doesn't also benefit from, and they'll never nerf SWF in any way. They will never make solo balanced with SWF under those two conditions.
They are balancing the two. Not in a way that brings solo queue up to playing in a swf, but enough to where any survivor element they nerf due to SWFs abusing it, or whatever, it won't impact solo queues as badly. For instance, the HUD will show other survivors what you're doing. Getting healed, healing someone, working on a gen, cleansing blessing totum, ect. Its not nearly as good as voice chat on a swf, but its a more than solo queues have now. "should I go for the save? the other two are on gens, so yeah, I should go" ...
Thats what I know they are doing (eventually) but they could easily add a pinging system, or even make kindred basekit (with or without killer aura). So there are things they are doing, and other things they also could do. Will they do more than the hud stuff? eh, who knows.
-
Even before this update, I was already of cutting my DBD time in half to play more VHS. Maybe its just because it's new but it's been way more fun, less busted.
-
This is reducing the grind for MOST people. Most people would rather have perks unlocked for all characters much easier. Even if it means griding for cosmetics/charms will be longer. The perks are what matter, the cosmetics, yeah, its sucks if you're really in a head space where you won't be happy unless you unlock all 9 levels that give something, but thats not the majority of the people. But yeah, 9 levels for ALL characters IS going to be a grind for sure. But the grind before was bad, and with each new chapter was just getting worse, especially for people new to the game and coming to the realization "I have to put in how much time to unlock these perks for multiple characters?" LOL.
-
First, they're already nerfing gen speed. Second, sounds like you just lost. I get tough swfs all the time, but rarely (if ever) lose one whole gen every 40 seconds LOL. And how WOULD they "fix" swfs anyway? You can't stop people from using voice chat. No possible way. Anything they try to do to nerf the survivor side for the sake of nerfing swfs will just hurt people playing in solo queues. And on that note, they're about to improve "in game communication" among solo queuers, like adding information to the HUD that will say if you're healing, getting healed, working on a gen, hiding in a locker, ect, so thats going to make playing against a non swf crew slightly harder as they will be more coordinated by knowing what other teammates are doing. This game is just not set up for you to win every time, and swf's are going to suck from time to time. The only fix is not getting in a huff about losing a match. You're going to harp on what you're going to harp on though, not really trying to change your mind XD.
-
Add a slight increase to gen repair speeds the longer the killer is in a certain radius to the hooked survivor that gets slightly faster over time. That way, a killer can still camp, and probably get that kill if they're really sweating for it, but it costs them. And they still may (probably will, lets be honest) get a group, SWF or not, that will have at least 1 or 2 super altruistic teammates that will crouch behind a rock waiting for the opportunity that's not going to come and so in those cases, increased gen speeds won't really matter.
Thats why I think its a good system to put in place bc it won't necessarily be in favor of one side as a given. Gameplay still matters. Either the other 3 as a whole, get on board with gen rushing a camping killer, but the 4th has to be a good sport and struggle for all stages. The killer gets gen rushed. Makes it not worth it for them.
If the hooked survivor doesn't hang in there and kill themselves on the hook, the killer moves on, ist now 3v1 in favor of the killer. If you get a pack of super altruistic survivors, the one survivor MAYBE doing a gen, won't benefit much from increased repair speed in the long run, especially if the killer is just going to camp someone else after, the cycle will continue. And let's say they get the save while one person was doing a gen. It's very possible to get a save, and you as a team can still try for it if you want, its just harder sometimes than others, depends on the killer, perks, addons, ect. One survivor doing a gen isn't much, even repairing faster than normal. And the altruism will continue to work in a camping killer's favor on the next hook. (Survivor mains... ULTRA altruism kills LOL)
So its just enough to punish a camping killer if survivors play it right, and may discourage some killers from doing it as much over time, but also isn't a "gimme" for survivors just because a killer is camping. If the survivors can get the save, great. If its a camping bubba who can't be lured away, then at least its not a "gimme" for the killer either, it will cost them.
for whatever reason, you don't think its a good idea, thats fine, it may not be for reasons I haven't thought of but simply saying "survivors can exploit this" really isn't a counter to this... because thats the point. If a killer wants to camp, they still can, but survivors are supposed to exploit this if the killer does camp. I mean you can't make the killer camp LOL. And I'm not talking 50% increased gen speed here. I don't know what percentages would work. It has to be enough to make a difference, but not enough to make each gen a 25-second gen, just an overall general thought.
-
You know I'd like to think that if you bought the characters before the license expired, that if you P3'd any of those three, those perks would still unlock for all characters like prestiging any other character. The only reason I say that is because, now if you don't own those characters, those perks don't say they are a steve Harrington, or nancy perk, and have a new icon, new name, and already unlocked in the bloodweb for everyone. If however, you already have those three characters, while their old perks still have the new perk name, they still have the old icon, say "steve Harrington perk" or "Nancy Wheeler" perk, so to me, my account still associates those perks with those characters even though they're not listed as their perks in their bios.
I'm at least 95% sure that this won't be the case, and prestiging these characters, even if they say they're the perk of those characters with the old icons, won't unlock them for others, which blows bc I P3'd steve along time ago. But wishful thinking at least. XD

Yes, that's what I mean. A lot of these contracts have a 'modification' clause which means you can't create your own variations without special improvement.
Gotcha. Wasn't sure if you knew that already, some think he's linked to the movie franchise still. But since it's only for the mask, the copyright holders may not be as "uppity" about changes since its not a whole franchise, and just a mask design but who knows.
-
@StarLost said:

Copyright and licensing, I'm guessing.
They don't actually have to get clearance for copyright from the movies like they do with other licensed characters, only from the designer of the mask. The movie franchise also needs permission to use that mask, as its copyrighted. So technically Ghostface in DBD is an original character, not a licensed one, which is why he has way more items in the store for cosmetics than actual licensed characters do.
You could still be right though, I guess it depends how much the mask would/can look like the original before they need to get clearance from the copyright holders of the mask. Or, maybe they have a one-and-done agreement with them stating they can make any cosmetic they want that revolves around the look of that mask, and just have to reup the contract every year or whatever. I'm guessing they just didn't include him for no other reason other than they only had so many characters getting them and just didn't include him. a GF mask would have been cool though.

Yeah, new border, even though I figured that's what it would be is super wack. Throw in some shards at least. I was hoping they would at least show it, but we likely won't see it until the next stream on the 27th. So even IF I'd be interested in a distinct border based on how it looks, I'm supposed to keep wasting flans to gamble on it not being some lame orange outline for the next 5 days? They did manage our expectations do a degree, I'll give them that, but there was really no reason to not tell us it was confirmed going to be a border other than it being a marketing tactic to get people to play more. And it worked, big claps for them. but other than that, getting us to play more knowing a confirmed border as a reward wasn't going to do it, was the only reason they "couldn't tell us at this time." And it's STILL likely going to be 5 days before we even see it. I was going to start P3'ing anyway for the perks but I'm not P3'in any more characters, especially killers that have moris on them (which are also about to be discontinued) for a lame-ass border, we're still yet to see.
I'll be going back to the VHS beta. I only took a break from it to get a jump on P3'ing and to collect anniversary items but... I've had my fill. When VHS will go back to getting at least 50% of the gameplay that would have gone to DBD if it were not around, and will likely get more when it goes to early access XD

Players were told that there's an incentive to prestige now, as they were told "there is a reward that you will forever miss out on if you don't prestige now." If they didn't want to invoke FOMO, they would have simply released the changes without saying there would be a unique reward.
And it isn't so easily broken into acknowledging time consumption. As I said, I've had plenty of time to prestige killers, and have, but there was simply no reason to prestige survivors when one is the same as the next. And arguing that telling players what something isn't is not informing them of whether it's worth going for. I can tell you I don't own a cat or a bird but that isn't the same thing as saying I own a dog, so if you show up to see my dog and I have a snake, you're going to be disappointed.
Did they really phrase it like "there is a reward that you will FOREVER miss out on if you don't prestige now."
Because yes, its IMPLIED that characters who aren't P3 by the time the rework goes live, yes... you FOREVER miss out on your chance to get the distinct reward...
but while saying something like
"any character you P3 by the time the update goes live gets a distinct reward" which does come with the implication you can't get it after,
and if they were to literally say
"there is a reward that you will FOREVER miss out on if you don't prestige now."
do say the same thing, broad strokes... the latter is a BIT more of a dramatic way to paraphrase it. So did they really say "you will FOREVER miss out if you don't prestige now" or were you paraphrasing? Because yes, I feel like while they could have said what the reward will be so people can decide if they wanna p3 now or wait, and I also know not saying is a marketing tactic to get more people playing (it is... we know the reward isn't going to be epic but if they say, less people would be grinding out rn), I don't think they dropped a clickbaity FOMO bomb on us by simply saying characters you have p3'd will get a reward. I don't recall the live stream having one of those count-down timers with the speaker going "for a limited time... IF YOU ACT NOW... log in and P3 ALL your characters because for a limited time...." or anything with that sort of energy XD
All in all, I'm p3ing regardless, even if just to unlock perks for other characters. I only put event items on characters I've long had P3'd anyways so I'm at no risk of loss. Just doing something I would have done anyway.
-
This is why I wish they would just say what the reward is already so people have time to decide if they feel its worth it. Not "here's what it is... now you have TWO WEEKS." They're supposedly letting us know later this week but the anniversary event with the 106% flans will almost be over. If it really is just a silver emblem, that would be very wack (I don't think this is what it is though). I'm sure it IS going to be maybe some sort of emblem separate from what people will get who didn't P3 (maybe also some shards for every p3 character maybe, cuz why not?) but I didn't notice that one emblem in that photo was silver and was numerically close to the others. If that really was a hint to us for what the distinct reward will be, very disappointing, and this was knowing it wasn't going to be something big like a cosmetic XD.
I would have at least hoped the emblem/border would have been colorful, maybe even slightly animated. Oh well, we'll see this week. Even if the reward is wack (again my expectations aren't too high knowing what has been confirmed), I'm going to P3 every character anyways to unlock the perks. On top of that, its no risk to me personally bc I only have discontinued event items on my already P3 characters anyways knowing I didn't want to paint myself in a corner putting those on non-P3 characters but then, in the future being like 'damn I wanna P3 so and so, but I'll lose those items"
EDIT: so afterthought, if the distinct reward is an emblem they hinted at in the picture, it could be the opposite. The silver could be the regular, and the brown/gold/red/green could be the distinct reward emblem. Wouldn't be super hyped about that one either but miles better than the silver one.

This is so untrue. I get screwed by bbq nearly every match. Every killer can make use of the aura reading. The BP is the cherry on top. This one gets a nerf. I’d like to see aura reading only kick in for each unique survivor hooked.
BBQ and chili is VERY counterable. Hide in a locker right before they get hooked, or just hide behind a generator that hasn't been completed yet. Its very easy. Killers mostly get value from the BP, UNLESS they're playing survivors who don't know how to counter it. You don't automatically know if the killer has it but its easy to find out.

All characters you have P3'd when the rework goes live gets whatever the distinct reward is. Licensed, non-licensed, and even characters with expired licenses like with the Stranger Things chapters :)
-
I don't have any links to post to verify my opinion on this, and to be honest, don't remember if I saw a random comment from some rando, or if it was someone from behavior, but I want to say I've seen this addressed and have read that the bloody cosmetics will still remain intact like they currently are, and you should still be able to get them after the rework will go live. Will the be available for any new characters coming out after this newest chapter? I assume so but have no idea about that.
I would also assume that the bloody cosmetics aren't going anywhere for this reason also: A big reason Behavior has opted out of exclusive cosmetics is because when they've done them in the past, people scammed others by selling these cosmetics to people who missed out, but would never send them any code to unlock it after receiving funds. To prevent scams, behavior ended up giving these cosmetics away to everyone, and have not really done them since (other than cosmetics in event tomes I guess, I'm not sure if they get added to the store in a year like rift skins). So by that logic, if the bloody cosmetics suddenly stopped being available (at least for the characters you can get them for now) they would essentially become "exclusive" and "limited time" cosmetics in a way. And in a year when they've been long gone, people would probably start trying to scam new players by selling fake accounts claiming "all bloody cosmetics unlocked for all characters" or some garbage like that.

Does it matter how many tier 3 perks we have on a prestige 3 character for whatever the reward is? For example I have all 97 tier 3 perks on prestiege 3 leatherface and only 80 t3 perks on p3 Sadako. Will leatherface get a different reward than Sadako? I really need to know how to spend points and details are very vague
Same reward will be given for any character that is at P3 when the rework goes live regardless of level or perks. So if I prestige 3 Dwight, leave him at level 1 with only his three, tier 1 perks on him, and I have Meg P3'd with every perk unlocked at tier 3 at the time the rework goes live, they will both get the same reward.

In the anniversary stream it is mentioned that players who have leveled up without prestige would be rewarded with prestige levels when the update came out, my question is, will these levels count towards tier 3 rewards?
Thanks in advance :)
No, you only get that for characters you have at P3 at the time the rework goes live. Then the "catch up" mechanic will prestige up your characters based on how many perks you have on each character and other factors like that. How much will they be leveled up depends. But even if some of your characters move up to P3 or higher, they won't get the distinct P3 reward since they weren't at P3 at the time the rework went live.
-
As some already mentioned, they're only giving the P3 distinct reward to those who actually prestiged because they actually had to deal with losing items/offerings/perks, then likely maxed out on top of that, whereas the ones who simply maxed out and spent the equivalent amount of bp even though they didn't prestige didn't do that. You actively chose not to prestige. People who did prestige chose to. So I agree, you should only get it if you actually prestiged and didn't think "prestiging was a waste of time," or whatever your reason for not prestiging.
People who didn't prestige but maxed out are still getting compensated. Your characters will still prestige automatically, likely to at least P3, and you will still have the perks unlocked at tier 3 for those characters. So you're not getting "punished" for choosing to not prestige, and are still getting some sort of compensation. Its that, people who DID prestige to 3 are getting rewarded. But again, those who didn't (by choice) aren't getting punished. But I'm seeing a lot of people phrase it that way. "Why are we being punished because we didn't prestige?" You mean, why aren't you getting the thing, for the thing you didn't do, that others did? I'm not taking a jab at anyone, I just don't understand the "everyone should get a trophy" mentality here, or why people don't understand why they're not getting the reward when they didn't prestige.
The distinct reward is likely going to be wack anyways. Thats the expectation I'm setting at least, since its not going to be another legacy variation or any other cosmetic, and they're choosing to be secretive about it. I mean, what else could it be aside from a banner that displays in the lobby? It COULD be something else, something cool, but I'm keeping expectations low.

I hope you're wrong about the Shrine perks because that's a raw deal given my time and Iri Shard investments. They're gonna do what they're gonna do but it would be decent of them to consider aspects like time and currency investments (Shards, Cells, AND Bloodpoints) when they hand out the rewards. Would've been nice of them to have more details when they announced because I really hate the FOMO effect this is having on me. Almost kind of hoping the "distinct reward" is lame so I don't feel bad about missing it.
Same, I mean, they have their reasons for not announcing it now, I just hope it's sooner rather than later if it's in game currency so I can not worry about it. I'm not "worried" but I mean I can stop grinding a bit. I mean I'll take free shards or whatever but it's not worth prestiging for it, so I hate this FOMO aspect to.
The only other reason I can imagine them not being able to say anything could just be a marketing tactic. It could simply be they don't want to give us ALL the news, we get unhyped waiting for it, and it doesn't entice people to stick around and grind, at least not nearly as much as people are doing now. A lot of people weren't playing this game before this news, they've had a huge drop since the last RE chapter, and now more are playing again hyped for all these changes, the p3 rewards, ect. So we got the anniversary coming up, they figure people will show out for that, but will still feel like there's more after the event. Then the next chapter releases. Those usually do ok, at least for a bit. Some do better than others but the PTB for this one has some good buzz. THEN.... they have this bloodweb rework that, if it has a mystery to it, will keep people looking forward to that, keeping people in the game to grind. Who knows. I'm grinding in the meantime, it will at least help with getting perks unlocked for the other characters, which I would have done anyway. Any character I have discontinued offerings/event items are already p3'd anyways. We'll see. I'm mostly just happy the grind is going to become less of a pain. So many perk builds I want to try but a lot of times, there a perk or two I don't have LOL

I've got two questions:
- Will characters that I have invested millions of Bloodpoints into but never prestiged be eligible for the "distinct reward"? (If not, then why not? Why would I want to lose hundreds of Killer add-ons and offerings just to qualify for an unspecified reward?)
- How do perks purchased through the shrine translate into the new system? Example: I do not own Ghostface, but I do own all of his perks. If I were to purchase a new Killer, would Ghostface's perks appear at tier one in the Bloodweb, or automatically appear in the new Killer's loadout at tier three?
In regards to question two, if perks purchased through the Shrine are not automatically unlocked a tier three upon purchasing a new character, my grind will hardly be reduced at all, since I have been playing since 2018 and the only Survivor I have purchased is Jeff. I have purchased a few Killers as well, but nearly all perks I have unlocked for my characters have been through the Shrine. I worry that these Shrine perks will not automatically be given to a new character at tier three and therefore will do almost nothing to reduce my grind on a new character.
For question 1, having put in the blood points but never prestiging won't get you the distinct reward. They are doing a "catchup" mechanic meaning that when the new system rolls out, those characters that you put a lot of time and bp even tho you didn't prestige will be prestiged up (by how much IDK, depends on how many perks and bloodpoints spent). So they'll level up prestige levels but won't get the distinct reward since they would have to be P3 by the time the new system goes live. As for the "why that is" I don't know. My guess is while you did put in the time and bp, those that actually prestiged actually had to start over each level where as those who didn't prestige to not waste bp, while fine, shoudln't get the same reward as those that did. Just a guess as to the reason, I'm not telling you what's what, or implying you should have prestiged or anything like that.
For question 2, using your example with Ghostface, so if you have all his perks, but don't actually have Ghostface, those perks will have to be unlocked each killer's bloodweb like normal. If you get a new killer, same deal for those ghostface perks. For those perks to be unlocked automatically for other killers you'd have to buy ghostface, and for each prestige level, that tier version of his perks would be unlocked automatically. So you prestige ghosty to lvl 1, everyone now has his base perks at tier 1. Prestige him to 2, everyone now has those perks at tier 2, ect.
For the second part of question two, you're right. General perks, or perks you get in the shrine who's killer you don't have prestiged at any level would still be the same grind. But... those perks come up faster as there will be less perks for them to compete with as other perks now get unlocked for everyone automatically when you prestige that killer. So overall the grind is reduced a bunch.

Does it worth to prestige a character? I'm newbie in the game (just about 300 hours) but I just want to do it with Meg Thomas so that I could get whatever they are going to give away
Honestly, I say in your case, prestiging characters to P3 is actually worth it regardless of what the reward will be, at least for 1 or 2 survivors you want the reward for. The rest, you could wait until after the change so you don't lose progress on the items. You likely don't have any items/offerings in your inventory from events you can't get any more so you have nothing to lose there. Plus once the changes come into effect, every P3 character you have will pay off. Say you get Meg up to P3. Then her 3 perks will be automatically put on all your other characters as well once the change happens later this summer. If you're going to P3 Meg for the sole purpose of getting the reward, just make sure you have enough perks you like to use on at least one other character. You obviously don't need every perk, just enough to have some decent ones to play around with and not be stuck with 10 lousy tier 1 & 2 perks LOL. Because as of now, before the changes take place, each time you prestige a character, it gets rid of your perks/items and you have to start from scratch each level you prestige. This won't be the case after the change tho which is nice. After the change, you prestige a character, you keep your perks/items. Hope this helps. Also sorry it was lengthy, I'm not too sure about what you already do and don't understand about the current prestige system.

My only "concern" (I'm not TOO worried about it LOL) is while I understand they don't want to tell us upfront what the reward will be, I'd at least hope IF it were going to be something like in-game currency, they would at least say that. While, yes, an exclusive cosmetic would be cool, I understand A) that's not what it's going to be, and B) some reasons why they're avoiding cosmetic rewards altogether.
But for a pre/post lobby banner, or maybe even a cool animation you can now do with those P3 characters (like the pointing or "come here" animation, but adding a little goofy 3rd animation for P3 characters if done before the change), I'd still think grinding until the change is well worth it, to me at least with characters I don't have discontinued event items. I mostly have been collecting those on my characters I already have p3'd anyway so as not to lose them. P.S. I don't think it will be something like a bonus animation, but something that is still a possibility, even if not likely.
But if it were to be in-game currency, I know a lot of people won't feel its worth it, me included, so I'd hope we get that clarified sooner than later. Now Mandy stated it won't be "legacy 2.0" and wanted to be clear on it to manage high expectations, but I'd argue that the possibility of in-game currency as the reward, if it's not, would be managing expectations on the other side of the spectrum. Some people just assume it will be shards and are saying they're not P3'ing anymore characters because its not worth it. And I know there are people grinding assuming it's not shards or something and will be bummed if it is (life's a gamble tho, what can ya do XD).
I personally don't think its in-game currency as I've seen them use words like "distinct" and "unique" which in-game currency isn't really either. I wouldn't see any reason for them to have to be secretive about it really. My money (hopefully not in-game currency tho right? LOL) is on an exclusive pre/post lobby banner/icon for your P3'd characters.
