Updating the game and releasing new content is basically the same thing when we talk about power creep.
Again just look at Borderlands 2 OP levels. THAT is what power creep looks like.
well this is very off topic now, I merely point out that power creep is developers releasing new content that is stronger then old/existing content to entice players to get it.
If that constandly happens (like in warframe) old gear gets more and more pointless, and powercreep in general is just cheap design, its like jump scares for a horror movie.
Im merely saying that what happens in BL2 as you described is and isnt power creep, because powercreep means ... everything, not just damage output.
If in Borderlands 2 you get 1 shot and they get 1 shot, then clearly the health/armor/shields etc have not undergone powercreep.
What in borderlands 2 si happening, as you described is not the same as in warframe, in warframe everything suffers from powercreep.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
But to bring it all back, in this case the ermm powercreep is already there with SWF over the ermm normal? game.
Again we are not really asking for just kindred as basekit, but a diluted version of it to bring solo games closer to SWF games and then have the ability to balance the game better.

Note that Tier 3 Myers also has increased lunge and can vault noticeably faster.
well yeah, it better have those to balance it out a bit.
Myers takes time to stalk, it does not take time to vomit on someone and then just M1ing them down. thats the trade off, thats the balance.

Power creep is an actual term. It's not my definition, it's THE definition.
well yeah and its "power creep (uncountable)
- (collectible games, video games, role-playing games) The situation where updates to a game introduce more powerful units or abilities, leaving the older ones underpowered.
which is more what I described then you did.
Powercreep does not perse lead to 1 shot scenarios as shields and armor etc can also powercreep to insane levels compared to the shields from then the game was released.
-
I have a far simpler message: "play killer, play a lot of killer, dont think you can argue about anything balance related if you dont have experience with both sides".

1) I don't think that's power creep. Power creep is basically when you start buffing stuff to the point it becomes ridiculous. That's what would happen if you made Kindred base kit and then buff killers accordingly. It would just lead to everything being ridiculously strong on both sides. You end up with a game where both sides are so powerful any small mistake will be a loss. This is what power creep eventually leads to. What you are talking about with Warframe is power fantasy, where the character is crazy powerful and can do all these amazing things. But you're not getting to a point where it becomes stupid. If you want to see what power creep looks like look no further than OP levels in Borderlands 2. The power creep in that game is real. While players have all kinds of stupidly overpowered builds at their disposal, the enemies are just as ridiculous. It's the point where you literally cannot kill something without abusing slag, health gates, weapon swap glitches, and broken scaling of certain abilities. Every enemy, even the smallest weakest ones, can one shot you to 1 HP (due to health gate). It's the entire reason OP levels were ditched for Borderlands 3 and why that game is just so much better end game (lack of content aside).
2) I was using Kindred on my alt account last night and it gives you an INSANE amount of information. Like way way too much to give someone at base kit. It's fine as a perk. Making it base kit would be serious overkill.
3) You can play solo just fine without Kindred. It's not necessary at all. You say it's to make up for the fact that SWF have this information, which is not true. Even highly coordinated SWF don't know every little detail about what other survivors or the killer are doing. Saying "I'm near the hook" is not the same as actually showing everyone where that person is. There is such a thing as miscommunication, which becomes non-existent when aura reads are in play.
Ok maybe you and I do have a different definition of power creep :P
Powercreep is that an enemy has 10 HP, your weapon does 5 D, now a new weapon comes out that the players must want so it does 15 D, it 1 shots all the enemies. Now we need some challenge back so we introduce new enemies that now have 30 HP, now those original weapons are weak so they should be buffed.
Its just a silly endless numbers game were the only solution is to nerf it all back to "normal" and then rebalance.
Yes I agree kindred gives more clear info then SWF communicating, but SWF communicating gives WAAAAAY more info then not having it.
So again, we are not really saying kindred should be basekit, but some more subtle variation of it should be.
Someone suggested that maybe you see the hooked person emminating an aura that indicated if the killer is close or not, not where they are, just that they are close, and maybe you only see periodically where survivors are so you can see if anyone is going for the unhook so you can just stay on the gen.

She has no map pressure though. Survivors don't cleanse and then her power does nothing to slow them down.
no but it gives her an infinite Tier 3 myers status that should be a slight bit of an issue....

Yaaaay, another thread shitting all over the devs. Look, I get that putting our disappointment out there lets the devs know something up, but it’s near the end of the year and they are probably on their break now. You can’t magically expect them to fix every single issue the game has immediately. Of course, they were ambitious with their dates but it just hasn’t worked out that way. They know these issues exist and they will work on them, we have to have confidence in them rather than constantly barraging them with pointless hate.
you have got to be kidding me.... WE GAVE THEM TIME AND WE HAD CONFIDENCE but after years of completely nothing you kinda have to face facts..... come on...
-
ruin should be nerfed and the game should have extra objectives for survivors, like finding and bringing a gas can to a generator before you can start reparing it, that would, I think improve things.
Sadly the devs of this game arnt really down with the whole.... just doing it, throwing into a ptb and seeing what the community thinks type of approach
(also when do the devs just give us a dedicateds PTB download instead of having to download over the original game the entire time >:L)

No I get it. What you don't get is something called power creep. Google it.
I dont need to google it, I play Warframe a lot, im very intimately familiar with power creep.
Now you tell me how that applies here.
Im with you to some extent though, I for example find it super lame survivors get all these notifications now-a-days, like... most of them.... is that not just the skill/experience with the game? if someone goes down after the last gen is done and they were full health....well gee what could be going on there? thats just weird and not really so much pulling SWF and Solo together, I mean yeah SWF has an advantage there but Solo's if they know how the game works and pay attention will have the same knowledge.
But for this kindred thing, just something like it, we are not saying to just make kindred basekit, as some people suggested it could be a more subtle form of it, but its essential ot make SWF and Solo the same AND THEN, we can balance the game more for the killers now that survivors all have this info (instead of just the SWF players).

Man, I just have got reasons to not like the chapter, I mentioned them, and if you really enjoy new content from the chapter - so tell me, please. I just want to listen what people think.
Well its as stated, everything you dont like, I do.
I like the idea of having to gain the power, then unleashing it, its cool, challenging but cool.
And while the function of the power is a bit billy-like, it is still unique to power it like this.
And I dont find Yui sounding annoying (unlike Steve....*shudders*) and her perks..... yeah ok they are kinda lame, so are steves and well many others but whatever I Guess.
-
Removing traps benefits the trapper because now he is will spend less time setting the traps.... because their simply are less to work with...
Heck we should give him just 1 trap, place it and m1 the world!
more seriously, the trapper is potentially really strong and potentially really weak, the fact that survivors have a chance to get out right away or have to attempt it 20 times is a bit of an issue, like the Pig, its partly up to RNG wether you do well or not which imo is not perse a bad option to have, but it most def is hard to argue balance there.
also if you are against a SWF team you can be super f'd right from the start as one of them will just follow you around undoing trap after trap after trap leaving you just wasting your time completely.
And yes the placing traps takes time you dont have, Ruin is a real game changer to use on the trapper (I dont run ruin ever, but did so for the 6 traps in one match challenge and boy does that help tremendously...)
I dont mind the trapper though, personally I only feel he should have 2 traps to start with and thus able to pick up as basekit to balance it a slightly bit better. (I never run add ons because they are inherently bs)
-
ermm how have you not been able to?
Like all killers, everything works fine if you care for what that perk does.
An obvious POTENTIALLY (depends on the player) perk for Spirit is Stridor, to hear survivors better when phasing, but it might throw you off as well.
-
I mean sure, if you care that much about being rank nr 1...
Im not against it, I just dont care for it at all, but hey if it would make you happy ill support it.

Lol, I always cleanse in a far corner of the map so she cannot claim her corruption. If everyone chooses right fountain to cleanse - she’ll most likely fail.
And her Corrupt Purge is overrated, you can just hide for corruption being expired or just gen rush her when she is running for fountain.
at the same time you are creating a scenario that just means the survivors are spending/wasting time, giving the killer oppertunity to get kills.
-
If you disagree just provide some arguments.
But its honestly not something that can be debated, the devs balance the killers either around having add ons (meaning without them they are too weak) or around NOT having add ons (meaning with them they are too strong).
Add ons are meant to give you an unfair advantage, they are meant to skew the fight in your favor, which would be ok for a rare game because the add on is super rare or something yet somehow you always run into killers running them.....
-

Add-ons? What’s wrong with her add-ons?
Insta end sickness state so you can just be one shot, add ons always, fundamentally, skew balance.
-
@SkeletalElite said:
I disagree it's not always possible to safe unhook, especially in the end game when you might be relying on the hooked to have DS in order to escape.
Ok so you help someone out there (hopefully) and they escape, a DS escape can be made to count as a safe unhook should they get away, not that hard to program.
Just make it so that it counts as a safe unhook if they either escape out the door or atleast not get re-hooked within a certain amount of time.
-
New Freddy, Quentin... or Steve
-
at this point I think everyone just hates every killer
-
No efforts to bring Solo and SWF closer together (aka "kindred-ish" as basekit)
No individual graphics settings....in a pc game...after YEARS now...
No ability to deny a farming unsafe unhook
-
Ehhh mixed bag, what i do hate is being put up with rank 2 3 4 survivors when im rank 10 killer.
I mean, I just barely pip or just play even or de-pip, but what nonsense is it that I cant rank because even though im low rank im being paired with high rank that are good enough to make me not progress at all.....
but overall not too bad.

I'll get it unless they don't reduce the grind, which I think is pretty unlikely, with how much feedback they've gotten on that.
^this, it is FAR too grindy and honestly stressfull, its also complete bullshit you have to wait for BHVR to arbitrarly allow you to do the next Tome at some point in time. What if you have time NOW but not in the next 3 weeks due to work, well tough luck I guess...... look at warframe, they did the same thing with "nightwave" to have people have something to do per week, and its FAR more relaxed to complete.
I dont have the time to play this much, so next time ill just play normally, see how far I get, if I do complete it, ill buy the pass cuz ill get my money back anyway
-
base plague is fine imo, her add ons, like for so many players, intentionally, ruin the balance though.
But that is just a problem with this game as a whole.
-
"I dont like something, I cant imagine someone else liking something so im going to ask about that and even if they give me reasons as to why they like it, I still wont agree because I dont find that sort of thing fun so really idk why I made this topic other then to complain vaguely seemingly without desiring any changes"
-
Its just kinda badly implemented, they should have added a single code per random time during the day.
The way its done now, as soon as someone finds out about this and finds a code, they are just going to search them all and quickly claim multiple, thats just... lame.

It's not. A person (me, in example) can say/write some stupid things but that doesn't make me stupid, if what I say sounds stupid it's not because I am. Is it? And that's coming from a sensitive man.
Why would an intelligent person make dumb remarks?

Because it's pretty obvious that if you give every survivor full aura reads on all other survivors AND the killer that it would be overpowered when you consider that they all have 4 free perks slots.
Like explain to me how it would be balanced. You can't. There is no need for this. If you play solo then either ignore the guy on the hook and finish a gen or take the risk the killer is camping and go for the save.
It's really not hard to know when you should and should not be going for a save. If you are on a gen, and see another survivor take a hit that's usually a cue for you to go save.
Four top tier survivors in a game do not NEED Kindred. Not in the slightest.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/937161#Comment_937161
This won't work, you're just ruining the already delicate balance of the game to account for SWF. Yes, SWF is an advantage, but to build that strength into the game would just break the game. You get power creep and eventually everything is so powerful that the game is no longer fun for anyone.
The goal should not be to make solo as good as SWF. The goal should actually be to limit SWF in some capacity such that it's more of a challenge for them. It makes more sense to bring down the strong stuff than to make everything overpowered.
Probably the absolute best way to do this would be to say "only 1 instance of a perk in an SWF". This way you don't get games where everyone runs BT/Adren/DS/DH. Everyone would need their own build and they would have to spread out the powerful stuff. That is a very simple balance solution to SWF, and as a survivor main I would be totally okay with it.
you dont get it, its about making SWF and Solo more similair in balance, then they can balance the game around that.
SWF can tell eachother what they are doing and if the killer is close to them, that is exactly what Kindrid does and thus would pull these 2 more together, that is the entire point....

I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. I have no problem with people who think the world is flat either. Good for them.
I'm just not interested in discussing it.
"The DC penalty will come back, if you have issues that make you crash so many times that its an issue, then fix your stuff instead of attempting to play the game."
Yes, infinate loading screens, basement bugs, getting stuck in pallets, infinate mending legions, random computer restarts, the latest getting stuck crouching bug, getting matched with rank 20's constantly while in red ranks, getting stuck in tome farming matches, not having a wiggle bar, not being able to interact with objects as killer and survivor, not being able to pick up survivors and LITERALLY COUNTLESS other game breaking bugs, are all my fault and I should fix my #########.
Get outta here troll.
Guess you should stop playing the game then because if you really are suffering from all of that on a regular bases something is really wrong.
-
@thesuicidefox said:
Sorry but base kit Kindred would be pretty game breaking. In it's current form (and even previous form) it is actually very powerful. Their reasoning makes sense. How you can't see it would be way too strong is beyond me.
I'm very thankful that none of you are on the dev team.
how you cant seem to provide any argument as to why that would be is beyond me.

@Micheal_Myers said:
The issue wouldn't be solved still.
Because once you are at rank 5 you can then derank to rank 10 then to rank 15.
This might sound like a good solution but in reality heres how it would go...
Rank 1: Man I wanna play easier matches... imma throw until I'm rank 5!
Rank 5: still too hard... imma derank until im rank 10!
Rank 10: Just for the fun of it imma derank to rank 15 to bully the noobs!
It would be the same impact as the current situation.
Hope this helps.
Well the idea is that that is impossible, you cant go further down then 10 once you reach 5.

You literally backed up all my points. I can't tell if you're trying to help me or not. You trolling bro?
Yes, when a killer DC's, the game ends for everyone.
If a killer decides to farm, then yes, like you said do gens and get out, because the killer has decided the game at that point.
"Claiming it should not be done because of bugs is just skewed beyond believe"
Yeah, we're definitely done here, This game is still in a beta state, by every definition of the word. Go read the tech support forums, or um, patch notes? rofl.
Again, I can't and won't bother to argue with people who think the world is flat. Enjoy that reality brother.
Well then you should probably not make posts anymore if you can't handle people disagreeing with you.
You always do Gens, a killer wanting to farm does not mean you have to join in, a survivor wanting to farm does not mean you have to join in.
A survivor staring at the wall ruins the match, a killer staring at the wall ruins the match, both have equal control.
The DC penalty will come back, if you have issues that make you crash so many times that its an issue, then fix your stuff instead of attempting to play the game.
-
did you seriously make a threat about 1 persons salty reaction to your game and use that to generalize all killer players and play some victimcard type stuff?
-
Iron Grasp
Agitation
Monstrous Shine
something else

I think all the codes are already taken/in use.

Heck im rank 4 and I most def dont belong there.
That said gen tapping... idk why people care so much about that.

@Rin_is_my_waifu said:
If ruin becomes basekit then why not
Would you want that though? because I really think you will be shooting yourself in the foot with such a mechanic.
If its standard people will get used to it very fast and just hit hte skillchecks and rush the gens, hell that already happens a lot.
Much better would be for the survivors just to have extra objectives to slow it down, like them first having to find a gas cannister to fill up the gen before being able to repair it.
-
Ok you take this game waaaay too serious OP, #nofunallowed.
-
It is for every game, heck for every thing you do in life, a fun time when everything is new.
That always changes once you know all the ins and outs, that is also why people usually dont stay at the same job for a decade.
-
Ok so number 1, saying a person isnt stupid but everything they do is, is kinda still calling that person stupid.
But (nr2) dont shy away from that, I as well find that baffeling logic, the entire reason kindred was considered to be made basekit/mechanic was to make solo and SWF closer so they could balance better around it..... so yeah...
I mean sure, camping is considered a valid strategy and this would preeeeetty much kill it apart from killers fake leaving, so I understand something more subtle is needed but ultimately it helps everyone and makes the game beter.
If SWF and Solo are the same, we can balance the game around that, which means boosts for the killers here and there as well and better overall balance
-
honestly reaaaally not that hard, just change where your priorities lie, make sure you are present at 4 gens getting finished above ALL else and you get it.
I literally did it on my first attempt
-
https://youtu.be/8N_tupPBtWQ?t=5
but replace "manna manna" with "spaghetti code"
-
As a wise woman once said: "there is a difference between being immersed and being stealthy and lots of players dont understand the difference"
Stealth is not being seen, avoiding the killer BUT still doing the objectives, getting through the gens, opening the doors and escaping.
Immersed is just being scared, not doing anything but hiding, crouching around the map, wasting everyone's time.
-
@kate_main said:
"I miss him being braindead and having no counterplay"
Yeah,I figured out why so many "Legion Mains" think their killer is bad,LOL.
Well no thats not it, its more about variation being the spice of life, a fast hitting killer that can do some quick jabs is unique, and for the survivor balance all it does is inflict deep wound so they could stab them 100 times and it would not matter.
-
imagine thinking killers represent half the player base XD
-
Meta is boring af, but its just really not a choice if you take the game at all seriously.
Look at the new perks from Steve, they just all suck, idk why anyone would run ANY of them over what was already available. (now if Babysitter would give you bloodpoints like BBQ&C them maybe but nope.avi).
Im trying to give every survivor their own set of perks though (Cant do it because there arnt enough perks in the game sadly)
-
Nice cosmetics bro
-
I dont know how this is still so hard to understand, Moris, add ons, keys, they are MEANT to skew the game in your favour, they are meant to make you "win", they are meant to give you a big advantage
Wether its fun something like that should even exists is a different conversation
-
No ruin is just bad, people brought up ideas to replace ruin as an overall new mechanic anyway a long time ago.
The idea that survivors have to find randomly scattered fuel cans first and bring them to a generator before they can start working on it.
This will slow the game down a bit, give survivors more to do and force them a bit to explore giving both sides a chance to earn points, stealthing around the killer or the killer finding them
Also, should this really be here and not in feedback/suggestions?
-
"One player has absolute control over the match. The killer. They DC, the game is over for everyone. They decide to farm, then that is the match you are in. If they want to facecamp a single survivor, they will likely be able to. If they wanna go afk staring at a wall - that's that. 4 other players experience, dictacted by one. You have to fall back on the old saying, and stop trying to please all, all the time. Not Possible so why try to force it on people who are paying you for entertainment."
I dont agree with this at all.
They DC the game is over, yes because one the 2 sides completely dropped, what else would happen. (The DC penalty also goes for them btw, so equal punishment.)
They decide to farm? ermm you dont have to join into that at all, to gens and leave. They want to facecamp a survivor, they will likely be able to...yes and get no points whatsoever and everyone does gens and leaves, how does that mean they have control?
If they wanna go afk stare at a .... ok lets reverse this:
If the survivors want to farm but the killer just kills them, fine, die on hook, moving on to the next game sooo survivors controlled that in the same way the killer controlls it in your scenario.
If the survivors choose not to run away and just die right away on the hook, well there ya go, guess they control the match now?
If the survivors choose to stare at the wall well there ya go, guess they controlled the match again...
DC penalty is a good thing, the only thing we do need is give the survivors some way to bleed out faster without it being unfair so as to not be stuck with a slugging killer just waiting for everyone to bleed out
Claiming it should not be done because of bugs is just skewed beyond believe, nobody is going to make videos saying "yep, everything is working fine...soo really nothing to report here....dont really know what I mad this vid/post". How often do you actually crash in this game that you think a time restriction is going to make it so much harder for you, if you crash all the time you have bigger issues anyway and should solve that rather then ruining matches you are DCing from intentionally or not.
