Everyone is like it's taking the devs too long to nerf MFT meanwhile it's been more than a year since they acknowledged Blight's hug tech as an exploit and will be fixed and still nothing.

Don't worry. Only 3 more years and then they will do something. Like Alch Ring restoring only 4 rushes instead of all of them and C33 hindering survivors by 2%. Then we'll have to wait another 6 months before they really take care of the issue.

Honestly, I feel like Blight is the DH among killers.

  • Where are these survivors when I play killer?

On the topic: I'm not sure what BHVR could do about this. Maybe some adjustments to matchmaking would help but since you're most likely going to die with bad team mates it's kind of hard to increase your own MMR and get out of that hell hole that is also called "low MMR solo queue".

“13 year old screaming slurs into their vacuum cleaners”.

You never fail to give me a laugh with how you phrase things. Thank you.

    😂

Happy to be of service. 😜

  • You can't simultaneously balance for people, who do and don't use this feature. And honestly, I wouldn't use it. I don't need to listen to some 13 year old screaming a bunch of slurs into their vacuum cleaner.

Even, if it wasn't used for slurs, you'd still have people screaming at their team mates every game. I mean, just look around. How many complaints are there about bad solo queue team mates?

The next problem is, that this would need to come with compensatory measures to keep killers in a good spot. Because communication means a considerable advantage. And frankly, there is no way to balance around that without making the game a slog in the process.

Ofc we have the famous trees that stop your sprint because the LEAVES have hit boxes

Obviously. I mean, who would win? A 6 foot 10 inch, 200 lbs man with a chainsaw, or a leave?

They must be made of steel.

  • Agreed. Billy will never return to his glory days. He was good because survivors in general were pretty bad at the game and for a long time didn't know how to play against him (and some ridiculous addons). Maps don't help either. The last "new" maps that were somewhat good for Billy were the Coldwinds. And they got worse than before their rework. Since then, every map they released was a kick in his face.

But of course this isn't enough. BHVR have to go out of their way and change the last few spots with generous collisions too. Remember the tables on Ormond? Well, you can now throw a hatchet over them but you can't curve them too well anymore. I tested it out and I kid you not, they added a hitbox about 2 metres above the ground that you bump on. The actual table doesn't have a hitbox. And this change happened somewhat recently.

GoJ, Eyrie, Borgo, RPD, Red Forest (god, I hate them), Toba Landing, Nostromo and Haddonfield are all terrible to play on with this killer. The most infuriating thing is that they said they changed some collisions on Eyrie in patch 7.2.1 to help killers with chainsaws. I tested it very thoroughly and from what I can tell, nothing actually changed for the better. You still bump on every twig.

Instead of looking at what makes Billy so terrible on most maps, they completely ignore the issue and add more maps with a bunch of clutter, a pallet count that basically deletes his chase power, loops that are impossible to curve due to their shapes and collisions and interconnecting windows. Apart from all the main buildings.

At this point the overheat doesn't make any difference anymore and I'm starting to think that Billy is a lost cause. No amount of buffs is going to restore his former power, when maps are the main reason he has fallen so low. Well, that and of course his worst nightmare. Survivors that know how to counter him with the press of a key (and it isn't E).

  • I doubt it. Slugging is a bit more situational. You won't start slugging as a M1 killer with 4 survivors spread out across the map.

Tunneling seems like a more likely approach to me.

  • I kind of agree. There are some heavy incentives to not do XYZ things, when playing killer. Which in theory wouldn't be too bad, if the killer role wasn't about constant decision making and multi tasking. At least that's what it was about when I started playing.

I am not against regulating how effective tunneling and camping should be but BHVR's approach is a bit radical. I hope they'll adjust this so that camping does remain a factor in the game, just not quite as strong as it currently is, though that is mostly on the survivors for not using the tools to deal with these situations.

What has me worried is the announced 3gen solution and a possible change to tunneling (it's only a matter of time). Because when all of these are in place and basically take all the decisions away from the killer, then I would stop playing this role. Chasing is fun (the most fun for me) but I don't want to feel like I'm just running after the survivors with no impact on the overall course of the match. It's not a 1v1 game but 1v4. And reducing it to 4 1v1s doesn't sound fun to me.

  • I would be curious to see the Chainsaw Bros in action. Iri Flesh Bubba and Lo-Pro Billy sounds like an interesting duo to me.

Another nutty combo would be Plague and Oni. One of them is going to screw you no matter what.

Some part of me also wants to see 2 Freddies.

Merchant literally just received a rework, what we got those few months ago we knew wasnt going to be permanent

Knight also received a few buffs alongside the movement speed which would of been just fine on their own, the movement speed is just QoL really

Trapper will still suck and we all know BHVR doesnt want to touch em too much because of new players. But it falls again into more QoL rather than a buff

Wait, did we know that? Did we know that Caitlyn 3Genner's first rework wasn't permanent? As far as I remember it took a bit until we got info that she was due for another rework. Doesn't make a difference to your point, I'm just curious.

I just realised, I'll need a new nick name for SM once the changes go to live. Damn.

I consider Trapper's and Knight's haste effects to be more of a quality of life improvement too. Sure, there are some situations where these can make a real difference but mostly I think they're only in place to make these killers feel less clunky and slow. Which is fine by me. Trapper needs more than a simply haste effect and more traps to be a good killer and Knight seems to be quite alright in terms of strength. Although I pray for the day when a brown addon is no longer necessary to make his power work.

Still, I think this Trapper buff will actually make me play him a bit more often.

How many survivors you usually kill playing fairly? I heard here on forum the softcap is very low so playing fairly is not maybe even not worth it as even you would have low mmr but over the cap you can still get matched with very high mmr survivors.

I have stopped speculating on my own MMR (mostly because there is no point to it) but I believe I am not too high up. I lose a lot of matches, that I could win, if I were to use better perks or addons (or addons in general) or played more ruthless. I still get a lot of survivors whom I estimate are pretty good. I aim at improving so much that I can beat most survivors by playing casually and honestly that works just fine for me.

Peanits shared with us that the MMR distribution of players looks a bit like a bell. Meaning there aren't that many players in lower and the higher ends but most of us are somewhere in the middle. And honestly I have no reason to assume otherwise. I have heard Otz say that the soft cap is so low that most people are above it (probably where most people got this idea from) but I reckon someone, who has the actual data would know more about it than a content creator

  • Honestly, this is a solid hit. Take a 50 ms ping for the killer, consider that your own ping makes a slight difference too and factor in how the survivor hitbox works and you'll see why.

The 50 ms ping mean on the killer's screen your character lacks 0.2 metres (actually more because of your haste effect) behind the character on your screen. Also, you don't see the killer in the exact same spot as the game sees them (your own latency), which means they could already be a bit nearer or further to the right to get a better angle. From what I understand, your own ping also makes a difference in where you see your own character model as opposed to where the game sees it. Lastly, your hitbox is centred right above your feet. Which means, that even a part of your back, that has no texture still has collision.

They hit you fair and square. This has nothing to do with hitboxes but it is a prime example of the impact that latency has on this game.

  • There is no reason to play nice other than you feeling like it. I have stopped sweating with the introduction of MMR because I was worried my games would get incredibly stale, if I did continue to play serious. Nowadays you'll find me going for as many hooks as I can. That however does not mean, I won't punish stupid plays.

I have also stopped running regression perks. I find it boring and in all honesty I play this game purely for the interactive part, which is the chase. I prefer playing with info perks instead. Or gimmicky builds. There are hundreds of perks in this game and most people only ever use like 10 different perks. This keeps the game fresh and exciting for me.

But it would be a lie, if I said I hadn't experienced what you said. There have been more than a few groups who would go on about how I am a baby killer and should totally uninstall, after teabagging me for 2 minutes straight. The interesting part is that this will happen regardless of how well I perform during a match, what perks I brought, how I played, what killer I played and what loadouts the survivors had. These people will always be bad sports, so it makes no difference, if you beat them or not.

I mostly hope for the best and prepare for the worst. It helps to not take the game quite so serious. I know this is easier said than done but at the end of the day, why should I give a bunch of people, who are miserable the power to make me miserable as too? It may sting for a moment but the less you get into all that, the sooner you get over it.

To answer your question: Play however you want. But the more casual you approach the game, the easier it is to deal with this kind of toxicity. At least in my opinion.

  • Aight. See you soon.

  • Nothing really. It's a very strong ressource, so it shouldn't be wasted but if you need it, then it's better to drop it than to give the killer a free hit / hook.

Those of us who play with or against P100s know that prestige doesn't equal skill. The people who dodge them don't know that because they avoid playing with them.

I mean, fair but I mostly don't even look at my lobbies. There are better things to do than looking at each character. And honestly I thought this was pretty common at least for pc players.

Also, wouldn't they notice that P20s and higher aren't really that different from everyone else and grow more confident playing with and against high prestige players? I kind of doubt that even new players would dodge everyone who has a slightly higher prestige level than them. I'd barely find a game as killer, if I did that. Even as a survivor I still get my fair share of P100s. And I'm really not a great survivor.

  • This exists for both sides. But there is really nothing BHVR can do other than maybe try and get more servers in some regions?! Even that won't eliminate these cases though, as sometimes a player's connection will do a funny.

I'm sure most of us had at least one instance of sudden packet loss, which led to something similar to this. It can happen unfortunately.

The best we can do is laugh it off.

  • Gotta be new players, right? Everyone else should know by now that prestige does not equal skill.

I would understand maybe dodging a full P100 squad because not every killer is in the mood dealing with a SWF but then again, if I can beat them with pallet Freddy and a meme build, then even that is no indicator of how difficult the match will be.

I'm not opposed to the idea of hiding prestige though. But if we're gonna go that route, then they should also allow players to keep their prestige hidden after the game.

  • Another map rework in which they completely ignore the map's main issues (for once it wasn't just the size) and somehow make it worse.

Good job, BHVR. It's not like you had tons of feedback telling you that this map is a serious eyesore and that there were too many pallets everywhere, so I guess it's ok. Oh, wait. You did.

Seriously, there is no excuse for that.

  • No doubt about it. I give it another 12 months.

In my last game 2 gens in under a minute. How the ######### are you able to play this game when gens pop so fast

That is the current pacing of the game.

You typically lose 1-2 gens for your first chase, assuming your first chase starts immediately. Of course this varies from killer to killer and survivor to survivor. Sometimes you'll get a super quick down (30 seconds) and lose 1 gen, sometimes you take about 80 seconds because the map still has all its ressources and you lose 3 gens. On rare occurences you might even get a down after 60 and not lose a single gen (this is usually when you should be worried because you can expect to lose 3 gens shortly after).

There is a perk that can help with this (Corrupt Intervention, teachable of the Plague) but other than that, you are expected to play around however many gens you have left. Which is why you'll need to capitalise on every bit of pressure you can build up as killer and probably use a second slow down perk like Jolt (depending on your killer).

  • Fast vaults are still a thing. It is true that the distances don't work properly but fast vaults take 0.5 seconds as opposed to a medium vault's 0.9 seconds. So they are still much faster.

Don't worry, it's Survivor meta perk, meaning it will take like 2-3x times longer to solve, nothing unusual.

You know, I don't like these Us vs Them comments but that is true.

Survivor perks are monitored for quite a bit before they get nerfed. Meanwhile, Skull Merchant already got her 2nd rework and Xeno's PTB buff was reverted. When we never actually saw the PTB buff in action.

  • My prayers were heard. I prayed to the entity and she bestowed upon us a post of great quality bait!

I saw the sign. Y'all thought I was joking when I said Blight is too fast for the devs to catch.

Fair enough but how did they manage to nerf Billy then?

My guess is BHVR are held hostage by the Blight and threatened to get hug teched, if they do end up nerfing him.

  • This must be a sign. I'm not sure what it means but it must be. There is no way they STILL don't nerf him.

  • Did we need them? No. Did we need Alien? No. It's still nice to have them.

As long as these variations aren't completely broken, which they very well could be, let's be honest, I'm fine with it.

  • SM still sounds like a slog but we'll see. At least she won't be able to hold survivors hostage anymore.

Shattered Square is still red, so I will still hate it. The fact that they are going to change the hights of various objects has me worried, that Billy will struggle even more than he already did on that map. We'll see how it turns out.

The Trapper buff sounds nice. He'll still be pretty weak but I'll take it as a nice quality of life improvement. Huntress' and Trickster's reloading speed buff sounds pretty good. I'll still run Iron Maden on Huntress (the faster I reload, the faster I can go back to missing every hatchet) but it's nice that they thought about it. No idea what they were thinking with the Slinger buff. At least it wasn't a nerf.

The buffs to Furtive Chase and Background Player will achieve absolutely nothing. Background Player is highly situational and that won't change and Furtive Chase is just flat out useless. Who cares about the killer's TR in chase? And the obsession switching is better done by Nemesis.

  • "Oh no! X thing is bad for solo queue." Funny how one and the same argument is repeated again and again in every possible situation. You expect killers to deal with their issues too, don't you?

So how about instead of blaming everything on solo queue, we actually start using our brains at a 5% capacity while playing and use all the little tools in the game that already help to deal with this?

  • Change Iron Grasp for Ultimate Weapon, Thanatobphobia for Distressing and the mori for a Midwich offering and we have a deal.

  • Skull Merchant. I said back then I wouldn't buy the dlc and I didn't. But even then I'd rather have my 9k shards than her. For me, she is the most boring killer to play and playing against her is even worse.

Maybe that will change though with the upcoming rework.

  • Billy - Got butchered.

Nurse - Gets well-deserved nerfs every few patches.

Spirit - Got her addons nerfed.

Wraith - Got his lunge nerfed.

Freddy - Became a nightmare indeed.

Demo - Got one of his best addons nerfed.

    Slinger - Got nerfed.

Nemesis - Had Marvin's Blood nerfed.

    TWINS - GOT NERFED!

    Hell, even DH got nerfed!!!

    Meanwile: Blight - Got buffed.

It's clear you really don't understand how strong she is because you are not playing her anymore.

People who plays her know she is still 3rd strongest killer.

At this point, I'm not so sure about that. After her addons got some much needed nerfs, I'd argue that Artist stronger. Spirit is still plenty strong but Artist is just better.

It's also not that Spirit has no counter at all. It's just that it won't work very well, if she is good, which in my opinion isn't all that bad. She gives up everything else for one of the most lethal chase powers in the game, so there shouldn't be an easy way to counter it.

It's way easier to make mistakes playing Nurse or Blight than Xeno. Their difficulty range and skill ceiling are incomparable.

That doesn't change anything. You made an argument, that you just have to play perfect and then everything is fine.

If we can expect the killer to do that, then we can also expect the survivors to do the same (otherwise => double standard). And at that point, the tail attack shouldn't really matter all that much as they are going to take it away using turrets. Or they are so good that they can ignore it.

No matter how you look at it, hitting the tail every single time isn't realistic. And when the speed penalty is this severe, then there is little reason why anyone would try and learn this killer, when they could just invest that time into a stronger killer, that gets better results across the boards. I mean, look at Hillbilly for example. You have some dedicated mains and a few people that try him once or twice before they get frustrated and nothing in between. Singularity has the same issue.

  • Yeah. Something is definitely off.

  • He subverted your expectations.

In reality, Bill had a 1000 IQ plan. Looking on the first floor was just what you would expect him to do. So he kept looking on the second floor and planned to drop right on top of it. Possibly by breaking the ground right under his feet.

I think they just should remove scream from perk and make it different perk. Like maybe it will show survivor's aura for 3 second whenever they enter your TR.

So no longer works with DMS but still strong.

I honestly like the idea of a perk with a loud noise notification more. It is weaker than aura vision but for a perk like this, that could activate at any given point after you opened a locker, I find it better when the perk actually notifies you that someone is tracked. Otherwise you would easily miss it.

Change the scream to a general loud noise notification and the problem is solved.

  • A-tier might be questionable. B-tier for sure. But A-tier is a bit much when Xeno has to compete with the likes of Huntress, Oni and Plague.

The way I see it, Xenomorph is dangerously close to becoming a Singularity 2.0. A killer, that can be quite strong, if you're good enough with it. But so hard to play, that you could just play a different killer and get better results. On top of that, it doesn't feel great trying and learn a killer that is incredibly punishing for even the smallest imperfections. So you have even more reason to pick a different killer.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3543440#Comment_3543440

    ^ this.

Nobody asked for this buff in the first place and if they just would not have buffed something which did not need a Buff in the first place, there woudl have been no discussions.

There have been more than a few posts that said they wanted some buffs to the tail attack. Bigger hitboxes where the most common but since that didn't come, making the cooldown less punishing was the next best thing. So that's not quite true.

I wouldn't go as far to say Xeno is C-tier but it's obvious that with the fixed cooldown and the nerf on top of it, Xeno is a lot weaker than before. The worst part is, that there was no indication that 2 m/s was too much because we never saw it work properly. So there weren't any valid complaints about that either.

Nobody asks for the bugged cooldown to return but the devs were comfortable increasing the speed to 2 m/s. Why not test it first? Because 1.2 m/s feels pretty bad and with how easy it is to miss a tail attack, I see killers playing more M1 killer than using the actual power in the future. Which doesn't make much sense, when the anti-loop should be so oppressive, that survivors use turrets to give themselves an edge.

But when the tail attack is so punishing, that playing M1 killer is the better choice, then this becomes obsolete. Which in turn removes the slowdown, that these turrets provided.

I guess you can push it off as a skill issue but that would put Xeno in a position similar to Singularity. A killer that can be good, as long as you are incredibly good with them. And at that point, why not play Blight and get better results? It is not very encouraging to try and learn a new killer and get punished every step of the way, only to get mediocre results when you do become better.

  • I don't get why they nerfed the tail attack again. We haven't even seen it work properly and they clearly thought it was safe to buff it from the PTB. Now they nerfed it again. And apparently they somehow managed to break a bunch of other stuff in the process.

    Truly a BHVR moment.

  • I can see why you'd nerf UW's synergy with DMS. But otherwise the perk is in a pretty good spot. It's strong and a great perk on different killers but nerfing it's cooldown because Nurse and Blight exist cannot be the right course of action.

If we were to balance around them, then DS could stun for 10 seconds, DH could be reverted, SB could work as it was released all those years ago (no exhaustion, just a cooldown) and maps could have infinites again. After all, Nurse and Blight can deal with all that. Never mind that every other killer would become useless.

Nurse and Blight are their own issue.

  • @Header said:
