  • Asking for a killer that "isn't just fast" is not the same as asking for a killer who is unfun to play and is hard-countered by super basic things like lockers or super long cooldowns when using their power.

The idea that one survivor can take your power hostage is hilarious, but not terribly fun for the killer, for example.

  • The PTB is there for people to give feedback. Threads like this are actually what we don't need. Feedback can be useful... threads complaining about feedback serve no purpose whatsoever.

I disagree about the Chucky part. I think that could make him unique and fun, instead of being a normal-sized human walking towards you normally. They even shrunk Demogorgon down to fit. Boring.

In exchange for being hard to locate, Chucky could have to climb up a person to actually start damaging them, maybe survivors could get him off by vaulting, and maybe a pallet stun could kill him dead.

OH MY GOD I ALMOST GUESSED HALF THE NEW KILLER

  • I dunno guys, I can't imagine him getting flip-flop survivors 4 or 5 times in a row. Although if it was the end-game it definitely could've been adrenaline, which is far more common.

You should probably reread what I posted because its not what I said or do. Given the thread is short, it shouldn't be that hard.

I've reread everything you said. Nothing about my replies needs to be changed, except that I might add that you definitely seem like someone I wouldn't want bloating my friend list.

What are yall talking about lmao, it has already been confirmed that dbd will be running in 60 fps and 4K on ps5

    https://www.pushsquare.com/guides/ps4-to-ps5-all-games-with-confirmed-free-upgrades

    lol.

I have severe doubts about that. BHVR never hits performance targets.

  • From the killer's point of view, they're hitting you and are basically touching you, then you drop the pallet and they get knocked back 3 feet.

  • "I was waiting at the exit gate for timer to go down so the tentacle monster could eat my butt."

    😍

  • On PC just rebind it to mousewheel down, even lag spikes tend to not be enough to overpower the sheer amount of spam you can get by rolling your mousewheel.

But yeah, it's a stupid mechanic that should've been changed years ago.

So the people that die early in a match have to sit around and wait for the match to end before they can insult the killer? This player base has more losers than I originally thought. Who has the time for that? 🤣

That is exactly correct. They have to type up their message, and wait for the match to end before hitting enter. So they literally sit there like angry toddlers the entire time.

  • @MikaKim said:

    lol

It's pointless and bloated to have quality people on your FL?

From a single match of a single game? Yes. I use my friend list for actual friends I have made over several years, not because I wanted to say "nice 360 dude" to some guy and then we never speak again.

  • It's weird that an obsession should be something that killer uses to dictate parts of a match, but in reality it's 99% of the time just a DS warning. What a waste of a mechanic.

  • what if decisive strike just killed the killer

  • Were you a survivor?

It's just a map add-on. You can leave markers for other survivors.

  • @Seanzu said:

    PGTW - 11 Activations & 11 Uses.

    DS - 2 Activations & 1 Use.

    Sureeeeee, that's comparable.

DS can have up to 4 uses, because there's 4 survivors. If you're using Pop 11 times you're both completely stomping the survivors and simultaneously throwing the game. You don't just use Pop every time it's up. The idea of using pop 11 times is hilarious. How have you not won by then? Why are you still kicking gens??

Also, comparing number of uses is ridiculous to begin with. DS completely stuns an entire team for 5 seconds and undoes the progress over their last minute+ depending on how long the survivor was able to run the killer. Pop undoes 20 seconds of survivor progress on a single generator and requires a time investment from the entire killer team, so it effectively also stuns the killer, while dropping pressure as survivors leave the area during a kick. And that's if you find a good time to use it. You use it at the wrong time and you're gonna really be punished. There's no bad time to use DS, although there are times that are better than others.

Your title and post contradict each other.

I think he/she doesn't want it because they don't have the money for it!

  • lol @ the wait and see people.

Do you guys not play DBD? You don't need to wait and see, BHVR has shown time and again that they screw up everything they do.

  • What's with survivors thinking they're owed safe unhooks? I get that camping sucks, but if they're camping so hard you legit can't get close... just do gens and you'll win as the killer stands there doing nothing for several minutes.

  • I don't think the Wraith is weak per se, but he's definitely not top-tier. He can be tricky for survivors to deal with if the wraith player is exceptionally good at doing more than just getting close and uncloaking, though. He has a lot of mindgame/trickery potential.

That said, I played like damn near 100 Blight games in a row with no add-ons and with BBQ as my only perk. I'd say I won (3k+hatch or 4k) at least 60 of them.

Of course, I could cherry pick my wins and talk about how amazing Blight is (he IS really good, not trying to downplay that) but in reality solo queue means a lot of survivor teams end up having at least one spud, and one spud is all it takes for you to really apply pressure you wouldn't against a competent SWF. Naturally, part of being a good killer is knowing when and how to apply that pressure, but I think this game only having 20 ranks (and it being SUPER hard to lose ranks and not go back up) along with pretty barebones matchmaking makes it really hard to get a gauge of killer quality or strength without enormous sample sizes.

"Professionally made games" You really think dbd is THAT professional??? Phasmophobia is more professional than this and it's made by one person. Phasmophobia isn't putting out bug fixes that break parts of the game that aren't related to what they fixed, they aren't silencing criticism from big content creators, etc, etc.

Side note: Bring it, ban me for criticizing your game by comparing it to a cheaper and more professionally made game. Prove mine and SCs point BHVR, you know you want to.

No, I don't think DBD is "that" professionally made, it was clearly made by a team of amateurs who had a really cool and unique game idea and threw it together, despite not being as technically adept as a lot more veteran game-makers. And then for the last 4 years as they've become more experienced and grew as a team, they've completely refused to dig into the guts of this mess and fix it. They get mad if you talk about "spaghetti code" but there's no other possible excuse (aside from incomprehensible incompetence) for the amount of things that break when the slightest bit of the game is updated.

  • I hate these tints and filters. Keep that bargain-bin dollar-store crap out of professionally-made games. How about you come up with color palettes for the objects and terrain itself rather than just "hurr durr turn sky green" to give something an "identity."

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1730453#Comment_1730453

    No you can't.

Unless it's a live event you have no control over the players. All things considered, every tournament for DBD is going to be online and there is no way for you, as a tournament ref, to verify that I'm not on the phone with my team or something outside of having us stream a facecam which is unreasonable to expect everyone to have the ability to do that.

You have to let all forms of comms because you can't police it. Therefore the rules should be built around knowing that survivors can communicate.

It's a tournament. You can do exactly that. Have face cam up, be able to answer questions live to referees. It's not unreasonable that someone has a method of streaming their face in 2020. Literally every phone you can buy does it if you don't have it for your PC/console.

It would certainly be a thousand times more entertaining as you watch high level players sandbag each other and 3 of them going for a rescue.

  • You could always make survivors weaker by banning comms so they have to play like solo queue... 😉

  • I can't stand the ugly filters. Get rid of them all. You don't need filters to make realms feel unique. You can color art assets and lighting, no need for this chunky, ugly haze to give a realm a "unique" feel. I swear, people like the ugliest, dumbest stuff.

  • You can use whatever you want man. Likewise, don't expect much mercy with such a build.

  • I am exceptionally good at spotting even a tiny bit of movement. I am absolutely horrible at finding people who are sitting still and not making noise.

    End game chat is pointless.

Back before they implemented end game chat a bunch of us were saying there's no point to it. On steam, if you had survivors/killers you gelled with, you added them as friends.

90% of end game chat is trolling and 'gg'.

That has not been my experience at all. Perhaps it's telling that that's all you see? A lot of my in-game chat is talking about the match or how good someone is. I don't add random people I had a good match with to my friend's list, that would be a quick way to a bloated, pointless friends list. I can't even imagine how annoying that is.

  • @Tricks said:

Post game chat is an absolute effort in futility. Your better off closing the lobby and joining a new match to grind more bp / shards.

I like the post-game chat. I don't give two shits about BP or shards.

  • "Hmm, go in the basement with the chainsaw man, or just ignore the basement and win?"

Survivor IQ is OFF THE CHARTS.

  • Why would it be a bannable offense? If they're dumb enough to keep coming to the basement, that's on them.

  • I am just fundamentally against the idea of each survivor having access to a literal invincibility button in a 4v1 game like this, and a horror-themed one no less. You literally cannot be hit during the animation, even if standing perfectly still. It's both powerful and versatile.

I consider it one of the most irritating perks in the game. Irritating doesn't equate to power, by the way, but my lord it can be infuriating when you're in a position where you have no choice but to swing since you don't have time to bait it out.

I feel like compared to 95% of other survivor perks, it gives you so much, and requires so little. You don't gain as much distance as sprint burst, but you don't have to walk everywhere and in exchange for more distance you instead literally cannot be hit, and can phase through the killer for some reason, which can be clutch, especially if it's a killer that relies on a charge-type power in chases like Billy or Blight. It doesn't require building stacks like Mettle of Man, which after so many protection hits, you basically get a Borrowed Time where you still have to mend. A build phase, and still a downside if hit. The exhaustion meter doesn't mean much if you're only running one exhaustion perk, it's essentially just a cooldown for your next invincibility dodge at that point. Again, if you want another BT hit from Mettle of Man, you don't wait for a meter, you go get those protection hits.

And being injured is not a "downside" to a perk that's literally only used in chases. Resilience gives you a benefit while repairing gens and such. Yeah you vault slightly faster, so there's that I guess, but that repair speed is a primary reason to run it. But repairing while injured can be really dangerous. Being injured in a chase... means you're playing DBD. It's so silly.

  • @chieften333 said:

So If it already covers 100% of every map why is there a distance requirement in the first place?

In case they make mega maps in the future, I guess?

  • Alright, with the change to 128 meters, the perk is MUCH closer to actually infinite. I believe it will reach clear across almost all maps, I think at this point you'd have to have a map touching a wall in one corner while you're on another corner to actually not get use out of it.

It's still not infinite, so it's still a nerf, but now it's a very, very tiny nerf.

96 was nowhere near enough. I had multiple matches yesterday where I didn't get a Discordance proc until I walked a good 15 meters. I could walk back and forth once the aura died and see the exact line. I wasn't up against a wall or anything. So I know in certain cases we'll still be missing out on this info (in this case it was CRITICAL and if I hadn't stepped across the threshold I would not have known to hightail it across the map) but this is much, MUCH better.

    Yeah,

gonna have to disagree with your “pretty smart” description. A “pretty smart” killer would NEVER commit to one survivor that long, not even a fraction of that.

The fact that she DID chase you that long, speaks volumes on either her skill level, or experience level. Either way, we’ve already identified her as not good.

OP, please don’t let me kill your buzz, congratulations!

I dunno, I do pretty damn good as killer and I'm happy to chase someone for what seems like way too long. I figure the more I chase people who are super good at looping, the better I'll be at stopping them in the future. Going for the weak link results in quicker wins in the short-term, but I like to build my skill for the long-term. I don't bother face camping, though. That's just boring.

  • OoO turns a negative status effect like oblivious into a huge positive. Just one of the reasons why it's very well designed.

    @Xpljesus said:

That's not stretched, but you seem to be the average anti stretched guy who just blames it because they heard it's a thing and is bad at the game, nemesis makes her oblivious so she can see you through the wall with object as she hears no TR. No res can see over Macmillan jungle gyms, and even if the walls were lower, this is not how stretched works anyways.

That said, please don't use this as a springboard to make some weird defense for stretched res. FoV is locked down in DBD, changing it by stretching your resolution is literally cheating. This not being a case of that does not change that fact. If you're using stretched res, you suck.

    I appreciate it!

  • I mean blinding you during a pallet break animation is almost always counterproductive. Instead of gaining distance they're standing there like a dingus to make you unable to see them for like 2 seconds. Presuming the sounds are working properly (a big ask for DBD I know) you can just chase them normally even while blinded.

How come you get all the profile comments?!

I turned mine on like a month ago and I play Killer for several hours per day, and I've gotten exactly 1 DBD comment.

80% of flashlight add-ons are useless.

Glass and ring for keys don't help in the match at all.

Map add-ons are all worthless for a rainbow map.

Toolboxes are bad with and without add-ons.

Yeah, but those are useless. Useless isn't meme-level bad. You want to see what meme add-ons do? Please enjoy my Adrenaline Vial/Placebo Tablet Blight match.

Unfortunately you'll see this kind of antagonistic behavior ten fold in the high ranks. Its rampant. The only advice I could give is try and ignore it. They want to trigger you. Get you to make mistakes. The really toxic ones will want you to chase them so the others can do gens.

You need a thick skin as a red rank killer otherwise this sort of behavior will drive you nuts.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but at least where I'm at (Western US, dunno how well they segment regions) this kind of thing falls WAY off at higher ranks. The green and weaker purple ranks seemed to be where I found the most salt. Red ranks is pretty much just gg by both sides no matter the outcome, with maybe some light sympathy if a match went poorly for one side.

It's not some Utopia, of course, some guy was playing like a dingus earlier and kept ending up wherever I was, and wasn't very good at looping, so he died first. He waited until the match was over to complain that I had tunneled him "because I didn't like Trump" (dude's name had Trump in it, but I hardly notice these things as I'm, you know, playing the game) and then he proceeded to go on like a 10 minute long rant until the chat server died about how California was killing Arizona and how Arizona wants to go to war with California, it was the most batshit crazy nonsense I'd ever seen, and at first I thought he was just doing it to meme before election time, but the way he kept going and going and going makes me think he may have been a little unhinged.

That said, I found it amazingly entertaining!

I have a feeling this article is written by someone who doesn't play Dead By Daylight.

They even mention Jeepers Creepers as needing a chapter, you know... that monster made by a... monster?

Oh and it gets worse, wanting Chucky? Everyone know something like that wouldn't work due to never being able to see where chucky is.

  • Grinding doesn't give me a sense of accomplishment. None of that BS works on me. My sense of accomplishment comes from getting more skilled at the game and playing better and better. Losing my perks and items over and over so I could get an "upgraded" jpeg and a low-effort skin that I won't use is the least appealing thing you could offer me.

Not only do I not feel like I'm missing out on something, I feel like I'm getting one over on the devs who are trying to intentionally waste my time for almost literally nothing in exchange.

I have despised the concept of prestiging since Call of Duty birthed it into this world.

  • Petty? Not much, really. Usually if I get stomped it just kind of irritates me so I'll take a break and play something else for a bit.

  • In case the first video wasn't enough, here's another showing Blight as his maximum power. You might not be ready for this level of play but sometimes it's good to have something to look forward to. For some reason, my videos keep turning real dark when I upload them to Youtube despite not being anywhere near that dark natively. Weird.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddnpYku6wYU

  • There already was a DS nerf. It's called Blight. Blight laughs at your pitiful 5 second stun. Blight laughs at your pallets and your Dead Hards and the concept of distance itself.

  • If you're not ashamed of it, why did you make a new account?

  • @ABannedCat said:

People seem to forget the purpose of aim-dressing (auto-aim). Its there to make the hit look right *from the survivors' point of view*, by moving the killer's camera before the hit is registered. Its not there to help killers or something. Its there to make the game more exciting for survivors by giving them a Omg-I-dodged-the-killers-attack-moments.

It fails fundamentally on this level as well, since all you ever hear about are "BS hits" when we all have sub-40 pings and there was no visible lag all match.

  • @CornHub said:

Ignore the snobs saying they got it on their 1st try, ATM the only helpful guide is the Scott Kind one. I'd Imagine the next tome will have something blight related aswell, so keep practicing and don't give up

It's not about being a snob, the OP seems to think that even "rank 1 Blights" have trouble getting this one. The point isn't to brag, but to point out that it's very possible and not to give up. Obviously if you don't play Blight, you're not gonna get it on your first try.

Anyway, I figured I'd put my money where my mouth is. I don't have the time to make a full-blown guide like Scott, but I figured I'd record a match last night and upload it. I think I got a pretty good one. There's no commentary, but I think it shows off a lot of the strengths and weaknesses of Blight. There's lots of lethal rush hits, but plenty of misses. There's 2 flashlight saves (Blight is really good at making flashlight saves seem far less valuable) because I wasn't being careful. There's bumping into objects too many times and missing a hit because of it, there's the I-Can't-Move bug, all that kinda fun stuff. And no ruin/undying/tinkerer to worry about!

I think if the OP watches it alongside something like Scott's guide, he can get a better grasp of how to approach different situations, and how not to approach different situations. I decided to run with a pretty powerful combo of Alchemist's Ring/Umbra salts for this one, which I definitely recommend if you just want to get the challenge out of the way ASAP.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOrJ3UDxjhQ

  • The fact that these guys thought we needed auto-aim in a primarily melee game to begin with is telling of their utter and unforgivable incompetence.

Calling it "aim dressing" shows their contempt for their playerbase's intelligence.

Refusing to remove it or to provide an option to disable it highlights their arrogance and their relentlessly pointless stubbornness.
