I honestly couldn't have said it better myself.

If you wanna be a stealthy Surv, you need to not run around everywhere. The Devs have stopped listening to people whining for more get out of jail free, handholding, "save my bacon for me" mechanics for either side. You need to actually learn how to play stealth if you want to play stealth, OP.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3778619#Comment_3778619

Nope, nothing wrong with that as the Devs have stated filters are considered a-okay. If someone wants their game to have that filter, they are allowed. That's intended. It's Dev approved. The game allows it, it isn't considered cheating, and it's not bannable. You can't punish people for say, being colorblind, which those filters are meant to address. You also can't punish people for wanting to have a competitive advantage in a game as long as every other aspect of their play is fair.

Well, the Devs are adding it in, so obviously is is 100% by design. Because the Devs are adding it in, as a fix to a known glitch that has existed for months, because Killers are intended to and designed to be able to see and track scratch marks. You are allowed to be annoyed at this change, but that doesn't make it "not by design" when the Devs have come in, kindly pointed out WHY they are doing it and why it therefore IS by design, but you still disagree. There are perks to help if you're not happy with this change, I suggest you consider running them if this is that big of a problem for you.

Survivors are designed to be chased, not hide because Killers cannot find them. The Devs are pushing for more chase, which is what everyone says they want. Why are people so upset that hiding becomes harder when everyone says they would rather chase/be chased? Surely since this means more chase we should all be happy?

You're cherry picking what the community is asking for and applying it out of context.

The community is asking for chases in terms of killer powers, I.E killers that have an EZ "I win" button they can press that completely shuts down a loop, which is beyond annoying and kills chases in the game, people want less of that.

Nobody is asking for killers to easily find survivors whenever they want, just like nobody is asking for for something like permanent auras being shown to the killer to "promote chase", that's just ridiculous.

You should listening to the people who are actually asking for things instead of just using it to missquote people for your own agenda.

  • @Peanits said:

Chocolate_Cosmos beat me to it, but typically when we create a Killer with multiple powers, they each tend to be weaker or more situational to compensate. In this case, although he has three forms with their own abilities, there's a right time and a wrong time to use each one. The added flexibility of having various powers to adapt to any situation is offset by their strength being slightly lower than traditional single power Killers.

We definitely don't want to give a Killer several full strength powers. Power creep isn't something we want either.

Why have the devs since abandoned the golden rule of simplistic design to avoid overly confusing mechanics to new players?

I'm old school, so I remember the community events where the devs explicitly stated this as a major consideration when developing new killers early on, which is why most of the killer's from 4 years ago have pretty basic powers but are still fun for everyone play with or against.

These last few years of killer development seems to have utterly erased that strategy, with killers being released now that have such complicated powers and effects that new players are literally hopeless to counter them without spending an hour on a wiki page studying guides.

What is the strategy now? Has BHVR lost interest in considering the fun factor for new or casual players ? Are they focusing on just keeping the veterans happy now? I mean that's what it feels like nowadays.

I'm positive if you went out right now and found 4 new players and had them play 10 rounds against vecna, and then 10 rounds against Bubba, they would take a significantly longer time to learn how to play against vecna than they would bubs. How is that fair? Why should new players bear the burden of a otherwise miserable experience of getting stomped on over and over again simply because someone spent money on a premium character? Why should someone who spends money on a overly complicated killer be rewarded with free wins whenever they get matched againat newer or casual players? What does this do to the game in the long run when new players are put off by this and quit playing early on because the game is far more complicated to learn than it was 5 years ago.

And don't tell me a simple designed killer isn't popular anymore to players. You've already proven that wrong with wesker, who was last killer that BHVR released that was both overwhelmingly welcomed and praised by both killers and survivors.

  • @Peanits said:

On colourblind filters, I do want to take a moment to clarify that they are not a perfect solution to scratch mark visibility. The filters apply to everything in the game. If someone has a hard time seeing scratch marks on a surface that has red tones (such as in the example we shared), shifting the colour of the scratch marks also shifts the colour of the surface they're on. This can cause them to still be very difficult to see. These new scratch marks have a white glow to them, making them stand out regardless of the colour of object they're on.

I'll leave it to all of you to discuss, but to be clear, it's not meant to be easy to lose the killer while sprinting around. The entire purpose of scratch marks is to reveal your location. If you want to sneak, you shouldn't be sprinting. This is by design.

It wasn't by design to place giant neon signs all over the map pointing to every survivors location. It's also not by design to sneak everywhere to avoid this, as one of the most sensitive and major balancing mechanics in the game is how fast gens go, and if survivors walk the entire match they will lose 100% of the time, especially since the massive buff killers got a while back that increased gen repair times.

Stratch marks should be subtle hints at where a survivor went or has been, I shouldnt be able to stop in the middle of a map and 360 seeing scratch marks across the map which tells me exactly where every survivor is at all times. Which is what this change does.

this is an unbalanced change and to say "that's not by design" is an excuse when the game HAS been designed like this for nearly a decade now and things have been balanced around it.

  • @Mandy said:

MMR has not changed, however queue times have slowly improved, meaning that matchmaking doesn't get widened so much so you're being matched with players more within the same MMR bracket.

Your MMR doesn't get affected by 2v8 so when you return to the main game, it won't have adjusted in anyway.

And as an fyi, kill rates are pretty balanced in 2v8 right now. (there's also not a survivor shortage)

What the heck are you considering "balanced"?

And how the heck can you sit there and claim there are no shortages of survivors playing 2v8 with these queue times....

Post the actual statistics rather than just coming in here blurting out "fake news" when everything on the player side shows evidence otherwise.

  • @Junylar said:

It's only unbalanced against soloQ, SWFs as always have a huge chance to win. Today SWFs won against me one time, and one time they were able to complete all gens with one of them escaping through the gates. So the mode is balanced on the average, it's just not fair for soloQ.

That's not true. On reddit and on this forum there have been a ton of posts from both solo queue AND Swf players who are saying they are finding it impossible or extremely difficult to escape. Just because one swf beat you one time doesn't mean there isn't a massive issue with ballance in this event.

  • @Peanits said:

Sorry to hear you aren't enjoying the event so far. Is there something in particular that people are doing that is ruining it for you?

100 posts about survivors having an awful time in the event, and peanits rushes to respond to the only killer main post crying about the event being too hard….you got to be kidding me…you couldn't be any more one-side biased if you tried man…

  • BHVR trying thier best to get kill rates to 100%....

  • Nope.

Garbage perks that they managed to make even worse with the update.

Never played the wake games so the skin is worthless to me.

Don't see a point in spending money for something that I will literally never use.

  • @C3Tooth said:

Mika release was certainly the most exciting, since the introduction of new type of perk.

    And CoH was completely op.

I don't care that they nerfed it.

Its the fact it was a very new and exciting mechanic for game and BHVR just completely gutted it and then just obliterated every other boon in the game.

I mean look at the new one coming out....literally nobody is going to use that...you seriously couldn't write a worse perk if you tried.

  • @Coordi said:

The question asked to the team in the AMA was specifically regarding "bridging the gap" between SWF and solo players by adding more information about their allies, and the Design Lead answered:

"We always monitor the difference between survivor groups (SWF and solo) and our current stance is that lack of information is not the crux of the problem, but rather that friends work together by nature and solo survivors don't (as much). -Mike"

This is not a dismissal, but rather a clarification that what is being monitored and that more information is not necessarily what will improve the solo queue experience. Unfortunately, there is only so much the developers can do from their side to encourage players to play a certain way. Players were given tools within the UI with the status icons to have more information, but we cannot make players use this information to improve the choices they make.

Don't you think just blaming the players for the state of the game in solo queue is just a bit ridiculous? This response pretty much just says "we know it's bad, but it's your fault not ours".

BHVR is 100% in control of how this game plays out, and there are a hundreds of different ways you can bridge this gap between solo queue and swf. A lot of those suggestions constantly get posted here and are suggested by your community leaders...

We even have a PTB where BHVR can test some of these ideas, yet PTB after PTB we see none of these ideas being tested....why? What does BHVR have to lose by testing it? You don't know what the effects truly are until you actually test them. BHVR just saying "nah, won't work" is a bit ignorant don't you think?

They may have been responding to the specific question in regards to adding more information to the status icons system, but the second part of that explanation just screams "yea it sucks, we don't care".

Is BHVR really lacking the creative thinking and outside of the box ideas to the point where they make statements like this?

I'm going to be honest, I'm an older gamer, and in all of my experience of seeing devs interact with the community, I can't recall a single time where the devs have just flat out blamed the players who play thier game for an overwhelming unpleasant experience in thier own game...it's actually shocking seeing the devs make statements like this.

  • @egg_ said:

They're gathering "more data" and studying the "situation"

Before they can finally remove prestige levels from the lobby they need to publish at least 3 more peer reviewed papers on important journals + no less than 5 proceedings probably.

It's important that their "data" is validated /s

Lmao, must be the same reason why it's taking them 6 months just to rework a single perk like DS....

    SMH

  • If you can't find survivors without aura perks then that says more about your skill rather than anything wrong with the game.

Actually, killers have been complaining about gen speeds for years. Yet every time the devs went on and nerfed healing instead.

Except for the fact that they literally nerfed gen repair time? And BNPs?

  • Because when a killer is guarding a 3-gen, they're still trying to repair the gens, but they won't commit to repairing gens because they'll be garunteed to be hit/killed. This means they'll be looking for easy repairs, but if the killer is playing really safe and doesnt allow it, the survivor isn't going to get any easy repairs. It basically falls to the killer to mess up and allow the survivors the repair.

The survivor still -wants- to repair the gens, but is very picky on when they'll actually commit to repair gens if they can get a hit. If the opportunity falls into their lap they'll take it.

Killers who wont even attempt to chase survivors though, that stops the game proegressing completely.

Weird how I can flip your argument completely upsidedown and it says the same thing but for the other side instead of the killer being innocent....

  • Except they've never once said that a killer standing by a 3 gen is "holding the game hostage". In fact I'm pretty sure they said the opposite of that. Why weren't all those 3 gen skull merchants banned then when it was going on?

This is why thier comments make zero sense.

So a killer can do nothing but stand there preventing the game from progressing all they want with zero risk of being banned, but a survivor who chooses to play smart and not just throw themselves on the ground to be killed can be banned....wow that makes so much sense! 🙄

Although i disagree that SoloQ doesn't need some info buffs (a basekit Kindred or even bond could be nice), i agree that one of the biggest problem in SoloQ is that random people throw the game for many reasons - and this cannot be fixed by any dev in any game.

I play mostly survivor on SoloQ, and its miserable not because survivor is miserable, but because randoms do so many dumb stuff through a match (like taking hits for someone who have been picked up right in front of a hook) thats even when 3 people is playing right its hard to win.

Flase, make solo queue rely less on teammate, add buffs that only apply to players in solo queue status.

Saying it's impossible is just flat out wrong and all you're doing is repeating the same old lame excuse that everyone says because people can't think outside the box or think for themselves.

They released such stats in 2019 and basically the difference between a 4 men swf and solo survivors was 6-8%... You can find the data in the forum posts BHVR made when you go way back... So unless you have a reason for your assumption I would think it is closer to that values...

You do realize how much has changed since 2019 right? Might wanna look that up...

You don't, but come in here claiming you escape 50% of the time and that everything is perfectly fine when it's extremely clear you don't even play survivor...which you just confirmed with this response..smh.

McLean once mentioned the reason why a FOV slider would not be fair in this game because the entire game was built on a limited visible line of sight for the killer, hiding and barely slipping by a killers view is exciting and provides a survivor an opportunity to get away. that's why that shadowborn was a perk, it gave you an advantage that the game was balanced on.

it's sad to see BHVR just completely giving up on the foundations this game was balanced on and giving killers whatever they ask for just because you can't handle them complaining about your game anymore.

how many basekit buffs do killers need? how high does the kill rate need to go before you stop?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/399607/how-many-killer-perks-is-bhvr-going-to-release-that-are-completely-busted

Killer's only objective is to find and hook survivors.

So by checking the locker they are literally working on their objective.

not a single killer is opening a locker using this perk to find a survivor inside a locker. they just spam it the whole match to have constant wallhacks

  • Hopefully never since it's a giant steaming pile of garbage

  • Doubt it, they didn't do it last time they buffed killer to 70% kill rates, so there's no reason to see them do it again .

I'm honestly convinced they 100% do not want people playing solo queue, instead of bringing balance between swf and solo queue, it's easier for them to just completely kill solo queue and balance the game against swfs.

Literally all of my friends who play DBD have uninstalled, it's just become crazy how badly BHVR has been just dumpstering survivors lately, I don't think any of them even play the game in that mode.

I know that Survivors refusing to do gens can be, but it gets weird when it's a 3gen like that.

    Really, though:

this went on for like 15 minutes, was just a standoff between the killer and us.

did none of you have anything better to do? Should've just gotten killed sooner and moved on, you know how it's going to play out. Killer's not going to leave on a long chase to areas of the map with resources and no gens (that's throwing), and if none of the Survivors can play around Eruption at all, it's just a waiting game.

we were really thinking he'd just get tired of doing it and start chasing us, apparently he was more suborn than we were lol.

But on that same point, why are we as survivors obligated to to just go kill ourselves, couldn't the same be said to the killer wasting his time and refusing to chase anyone?

Really. How can you even say this game is killer sides? Why don't you take a trip down memory lane, and go read the patch notes on how nearly every update has been for survivor, including the one we just got with the hud, and the next one being killer perk nerfs. We only got a killer update a few months ago, and then get ignored while killers get nerfs, and survivors get buffs nearly every update. Don't speak lies.

because it is killer sided, and that's straight from BHVR.

I think the proposed changes which are shown in the tweet are a direct buff to solo survivors, and definitely a healthy quality of life change. Seeing what actions your team mates are doing, is definitely bringing solo survivors more in line with SWF groups.

THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH FOR POSTING THIS UPDATE!!!!!! I'm sorry for the Karen post, I've been so frustrated with solo queue lately and had given up hope for the UI changes they talked about way back.

This is absolutely fantastic news mandy, thank you thank you thank you thank you!!

    SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!!!!!

that's the funny part...they already have one of the systems in the freaking game! of obsessions' entity icon rattles when they are in chase....you and 1000% implement that into the other 3 survivors and that would be a hell of a start. IT'S ALREADY THERE JUST COPY AND PASTE THE FREAKING CODE.

I've just adjusted that function, it shouldn't log you out anymore only after really extended period of time.

why does a forum need to automatically sign you out? that type of function is only ever needed for retail, banking, sensitive information websites. I've never seen a forum automatically sign you out...there's no reason for that.

  • it just looks really bad. like who signed off on this blog looking design?

everything is now annoying to find.

in dark mode the whole forum looks like it was designed by someone submitting an assignment their first web design class.

forums have been around for a real long time, we have literally decades of examples of what works and doesn't work. And we end up with this. I honestly thought I accidently clicked on some janky bootleg forum trying to poorly copy the official forum, I was really surprised when I realized this WAS the official forum.

please revert back to the original design, the old one did look dated, but it was 1000% better than what ever the heck this is now.

  • It's a fun temporary event, chill...

If you're this upset about it then you should probably step away from the game a bit, you're taking it way too seriously

  • The fact that they are ignoring all the critisism from this speaks for itself.

It's greed, they want more money. It couldnt be any simpler than that guys.

BHVR isnt going to care about any of the criticisms while they are still making money hand over fist from it. It's like verbally telling someone not to do something then immediately handing them $100 to do it...which action do think would have the strongest effect.

If you don't like it, then vote with your wallet, that's pretty much all you can do in cases like this.

  • oh yea, I'm sure that will happen just like they said they were going to improve the solo queue experience....LMAO I wont hold my breath that's for sure...

  • wow there are a lot of killer mains on this forum lmao

  • Tunneling is super effective against survivors.

the only way to counter it is if your SWF team coordinates body blocks while still applying pressure to gens.

If it's a Solo Queue game then everyone dies. BHVR has made is VERY VERY clear they do not want people playing survivor without friends, and they will punish you horribly for it. honestly if you're looking to play something by yourself you're better off playing killer or some other game that doesn't discourage it. there are no plans for improving solo queue, it's literally been 6 years and they haven't even tried to improved it.

  • Solo que needs a rework, killers got their buff a couple patches ago, they don't need the game to be any easier than it already is.

Have updated kill rates been published somewhere?

The only thing we got afaik are anecdotal subjective statements from the loud minority on the forum etc.

BHVR announced the kill rates a couple weeks ago.

  • Kill rate is above 60% now and yet somehow killer mains are still acting like they are victims.

Kill rate could be at 100% and they would still find some way to complain about how hard the game is.

Makes me take none of the stuff they say seriously anymore, doesn't matter if it's a balanced change or not, if it benefits survivors they will whine and cry no matter what.

  • The amount of people who are unable to see the point of my argument is absurd, this is actually funny as hell lmao.

No, I'm not a cheater, never cheated a in online multiplayer game and I hate them just as much as ya'll do. I'll spell my main point out clearer because obviously it flew right over most of your heads.

BHVR has a priority list of things they have planed to work on. They shared that with us multiple times during their twitch events.

They are prioritized because the Dev team can't do everything at once, so they rack and stack items and push them out in that order.

Cheating is a non-issue for the majority of the community, those of you who are claiming you face a cheater often are outright lying to yourselves. The Reddit post mentioned polled people's responses and a VERY large majority of the community rarely encounters a cheater in their matches. This is a streamer problem, and streamers make up a VERY small portion of the community playing this game.

MY POINT WAS, I would really like for BHVR not to shift focus on something like this and push other improvements that would be much more beneficial to the community as a whole rather than cater to just the streamer community.

To put it in perspective, BHVR spent time and money implementing this stupid ass streamer mode that literally benefits nobody but streamers...that time and money could have been spent working on Solo Queue interface improvements.....something the entire community could have benefited from and have been requesting for years now.

shesh...you guys really should learn to read and stop being so quick to grab pitchforks.

  • It wont, the devs have already stated that solo queue improvements are not even on the roadmap for the entire year.

it's literally not even on their todo list.

things like steamer mode and disabling the DC penalty for their fog whisperers took priority...

you're best bet is to go play something else this year.

  • Killers have already been buffed to astronomical levels.

If you want corrupt then run that perk.

If you're still having issues with killer after all the recent changes then you should practice playing the game or watch some YouTube videos on how to get better.

No, the definition of not acknowledging it would be to not acknowledge it, something that's happened multiple times.

I've never understood why people have the escalate their complaint into inaccuracy. Is it not worthy of criticism that solo queue still needs help, does it have to also be something the devs refuse to acknowledge before it's worth criticising?

Saying something is broken and not doing anything to fix it for 6 years is not acknowledging the problem .

You're arguing dumb semantics at this point. Do you have anything to add other than or interpretation of a single word? Like maybe you could address the actual point of the post?

Unfortunately, there isnt a simple solution to this. Any buff they do to solo q will also buff SWF. They need to find a way that helps Solo without heavily buffing Survivor. If they try to nerf SWF, they need to find a way that wont kill Solo Q. In the game code, there is only Killers and Survivors, not Killer, SWF, and Solo. So any changes to Survivors will affect both SWF and Solo.

There a ton of ways to accomplish this...

And the code? You do realize they write the code right?

I'm sorry, but 6 years is plenty of time to have made any change to a game like this. Other games make changes like this in a week...

  • @the_honey_badger said:

I'm sorry, but nerfing swf isn't ever going to be the answer. People immed assume swfs are going to be sweaty, top mmr players. Most people just want to chill with friend's, even if they aren't good at the game. I agree solo needs some information, but giving a handicap to a swf isn't the way to go. (Im a killer main btw)

    Why not?

When you're in comms you gain pages worth of perks that would normally be unavailable to you.

The game was not balanced nor designed for people to be communicating with each other.

Why are we so protective for them? They are the smallest minority population in the game under solo queue players and killers...why should they be protected and reserved to have the best experience?

They are deflating kill rates which as a result causes BHVR to nerf things for survivor as a whole.

Like I said, there should be no gap and all survivors should be on a equal playing field. You gain an advantage being in comms, so therefore you should be handicapped for getting that advantage. Once that happens BHVR will see the kill rates skyrocket and nerf killers to be more fair.

Or like I said, you could go the other way and target solo queue with buffs. And im not talking about stupid informational icons that most players will ignore. I'm talking actual changes to the core of the game that boost solo queue. Then solo queue will be more in line with SWFs and BHVR can buff killers accordingly as needed.

I'm a bigger fan of nerfs rather than buffs. The more you buff the more you trade skills for artificial game advantages. This game already has way too many perks that play for you.

  • @jesterkind said:

They've acknowledged that solo queue has its own problems a few times now, they pretty clearly do recognise and know about the separation there.

Now, so far not much has materialised to help solo queue specifically and so I would agree with that criticism, but it's very weird to act like they refuse to acknowledge a thing they've commented on multiple times lol

Talk is cheap and means nothing.

No action for 6 years is the definition of ignoring the problem and not acknowledging it.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

To help killers with early pressure and not get 3 gens done when you get you first down.

But maybe for someone like Nurse or Blight it could be too good since they don't need this but again most killers would be happy about this change.

    Git gud.

If you're still struggling with killer after the killer buff patch then it's a skill issue. Killer is easy mode now.

  • The above raises even more questions to BHVRs actions lately. You need 4 survivors for every 1 person playing killer. Yet they buff the heck out of killer and make solo queue just straight up awful.

Solo queue players make up the large majority of BHVRs playerbase. I'm not saying things should be changed to make survivors more powerful than killer, but they've especially made solo queue survivor just so overwhelmingly awful over the years.

Before the killer buffs and survivor nerfs the entire community was already in agreement that solo queue was the worst compared to swf and killer experiences. Seems strange to me that they would completely ignore solo queue even after all of that feedback, then actively make it even worse to appease the minority of people playing killer...

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot BHVR...

    Nothing is wrong.

Matchmaking needs 4 survivors and 1 killer player. So probably most of time survivors will have bonus. Even queue times starts to be close each other.

That's not entirely the reason. Before the killer buff patch the queue times for killer in the early mornings and late evenings were instant, and the survivor que times were about a 1 to 5 min wait.

We had a ton of survivor mains leave this game after that patch, which shifted the need for survivors to last all day.

The queue times for killer may decrease in the early mornings or evenings, but since that patch killer hasn't had faster queue times than survivor.

Until they make solo queue survivor more enjoyable we'll probably never see a need for killers over survivors again, this matchmaking incentive will be exclusive to survivors. Solo queue is a pretty freaking awful experience right now, nobody wants to play that ######### as much as they used to.

Everyone thinks I’m a killer main? When I mainly play survivor 😂

....you do realize we can see your post history on these forums.

might wanna think that through on your next troll attempt...

Solo q has never been better for survivor mains. You have borrowed time base kit now, ntm the off the record rework and the most op perk hyper focused. Maybe you should “git gud”..

so why didn't killer mains "git gud" before all the survivor perk nerfs and killer buffs? surely you could have just "gotten gud" instead of crying to get buffed?

  • I'll also comment that the last match I played just now where this happened, there was only myself and another survivor still alive, so that means there should have only been a small number of chains for each wave to dodge or break.

there was no pause or and indication of a "wave" of chains. Didn't matter if I dodged or broke them, soon as one chain despawned or was broken another would immediately spawn with no pause in-between spawns.

  • no, they are not, killers overall were extremely buffed, arguably too much even. You should practice more and focus on getting better if you're losing a lot of matches on that map.
