They did, a long time ago. And unfortunately, DOA5 just yanked the sets that contained the licensed content from the store, removing the ability to acquire some unlicensed original content as well.
That's a shame.
RIP DOA

If you can convince the license holders of Attack on Titan to let DbD sell the cosmetics again, please also get them to let DOA5 have the Attack on Titan cosmetics and arenas back, too.
Did they remove them from DOA5 too? At least we still have thousands of dollars worth of other costume DLC lmao

I just wanted to note that PTB changes are not set in stone and are actively monitored for feedback and gameplay before things go Live.
That's cool. It would be sad to see something that promotes not taking the game seriously removed.

Mori offerings no longer grant the ability to mori Survivors in the middle of a match, but Perks like Devour Hope or Rancor do still allow you to kill additional Survivors.
I hope you guys reconsider the change. Mori-bombing GF and posing in the picture is one of the greatest things you can do in this game. I don't even remember the last time I saw a GF running Devour or Rancor.
-
Yeah, if mori-bombing is gone, then this update is terrible and can't go live. They just need to make it so mori offerings work the same, but you can mori the last survivor in the trial for free without one.

People want new game modes and modifiers they enjoy. If one isn't enjoyable, they're allowed to complain.
It's a shame that there's less constructive feedback, than there is people melting down and screaming at BHVR. I'm guessing this thread is more targeted at people who are accusing BHVR of favouring one side over the other, rather than people leaving useful feedback for the devs.
-
You can't really compare SM to any other killer when it comes to being reworked. No killer has ever generated that much hostility from the playerbase. She is special in that way.
If Pinhead's kill rate is too high, it's because he's hard for solo teams to deal with. All BHVR has to do is weaken the box, and make his chase power better. That would keep him strong, but less oppressive for solo players, and without ruining him.
I don't see Plague getting changed much. She's one of the most unique killers in the game, and is well balanced. Being extremely strong, but not at the level of say Billy or Nurse. There's no incentive for BHVR to change her much.

I don't have to worry about that because I never play stuff that is commonly agreed upon as as OP or annoying to go against. Guess I'm just built different
When I started playing survivor about four years ago, I already knew that killers hated DH and flashlights. So I never used them. Even now I can't aim a flashlight for a save lmao.
-
My Dream is that they add a Robert Englund legendary outfit, with voice lines and a new mori. If BHVR tied that to the rework it would be amazing.
-
You need to coordinate against a Hag that's camping her Devour totem. That's really hard to do in solo queue. I think she's okay with some communication though.
-
Are you really shocked that people are playing Dredge in Light's Out? It's the perfect mode for him. Most players run builds that optimize whatever mode they play. That's not really toxic.
-
If you want to sweat, the best advice is to do whatever to win. If you want to be more chilled, relax, and let survivors go sometimes. You should eventually find an MMR that suits you.
-
Sure, let's nerf the most useful perk for new survivors, just cos it's popular. I don't care if it causes brainrot. I'm not a zombie. How tasty other survivor's brains are, is of little interest to me. Let the nubs have their perk.
I suppose the devs could take the add-on approach, and make it partially basekit and then nerf it lmao.

Unfortunately, this community tends to forget the overall and focus on their own experiences too often and the worst parts of their matches. Can't say I'm immune to that either, I'm sure I've made errors in thinking too. Simply just a part of being a community we need to recognize.
We're all prone to reactionary thinking. Some of us just don't press SEND sometimes lmao

That's why I also suggested this:
We shouldn't try to hang onto Distortion in it's current form, allowing for games to be held hostage in exchange for these defenses. While I do think most aura reads have tells and ways to work around them, I also think survivors should have more reasonable choices too, aside Distortion.
So why not just change the perk so it can't be used for holding the game hostage. Did the perk also need to become substantially weaker?
They could give it three tokens that can't be regenerated till the survivor is chased or hooked. That would keep it's original function, make it weaker against aura builds (instead of making it nearly useless), and stop survivors holding the game hostage.
The devs didn't need to use the sledgehammer.

No matter how you feel about it, this is what the stats argue. Feels oddly close to home with killer killrates showing how Freddy is in the top 10 and Nurse is in the lower bracket, doesn't it?
The fact that the devs felt the need to add a disclaimer to what they said, is depressing. Any normal person could tell they were talking about overall numbers, and not saying that slugging doesn't exist. There's been so many people reacting like it's a personal attack. It's so bizzare.
-
Honestly, considering the amount of complaints threads you have, maybe Minecraft would be a better pick. There's no point doing something that upsets you constantly. Game's are meant to be fun. It's not a second job.
-
@Langweilig said:

Please no. Not again.
-
You get hit by LP and then it's open season. There's no way players are going to bother running that lmao.
I can accept killing perks to change metas if needed. But what does this achieve? It won't facilitate a new meta. It just makes stealth gameplay worthless. Especially with all the new aura perks that BHVR has added.
BHVR could have modified the perk to do away with the problematic aspects, without breaking the perk's kneecaps. But they chose the sledgehammer. We don't need aura blocking to be completely unviable to have a chase meta. Just give us strong chase perks and the community will gravitate to them.
-
The game has constant events, and they are almost always unbalanced. It's just how it goes. The first version of this mode was very killer sided. Did you by chance protest and accuse BHVR of hating survivor players for launching a killer sided mode? My guess is no.

i don't think skull merchant enables anything special. her gameplay loop is fine.
I don't think that my idea is golden, I just think it would be better at making her less annoying when compared to what the devs are proposing.
She might not be your cup of tea to face and that is fine.
She is designed to control the map and defend generators. No killer that does that is ever popular. Zoning is needed to add gameplay variety, but people generally don't like playing against it. I don't think that will ever change.
I'm not giving up against her. I almost never see her. I've just accepted the reality that until the devs address her more annoying aspects, that people are going to keep giving up and matches against her are going to suck.

she is already being rated as F-tier, no need to make it worse. i don't think she is true F-tier but she is not very good. likely more along lines of C-tier killer.
I don't hold the view that just because a character in a game isn't great, that they should be immune from nerfs. If a character enables a miserable gameplay loop, then they should be changed.
I don't think that my idea is golden, I just think it would be better at making her less annoying when compared to what the devs are proposing.

her spammable zoning is reduced to 5% hindered. tier 1 bloodlust for like 5 seconds. i suspect that survivor will slowly begin to not d/c because they'll realize that… SM is free win and eventually her kill-rate will plummet, her pick-rate will be non-existent and then BVHR can figure it out how to improve her a year from now when her stats are neutral. It will probably be bringing back her haste.
I feel like if the devs made changes so when a survivor deactivates a drone, she couldn't put one up there again for a while, that would make her much less tedious to play against. That would be a better temporary change instead of what is being proposed.
-
It is kind of funny that in the same patch where the devs are gutting Distortion, they're slapping aura reading on a bunch more killers perks lmao.

I do think SM will absolutely get post PTB changes, don't get me wrong, I do hope its something that sounds bad on paper, but is really in fact balanced in game, but they haven't done straight up nerfs with no buffs for a really long time. Even with Trickster they gave buffs to many nerfs, but this is just several major nerfs.
The problem with the SM changes are that they don't deal with the things that make players give up. It's the same thing with the Trickster rework. They made him stronger, but kept all the things survivors hated intact. Her spammable zone control is what makes her frustrating to play against. So even though she is weaker, she's still gonna be tedious to go against.
People are right to take issue with the changes. They are not well targeted.

I am mad at the skull merchant changes don't get me wrong, but ive never seen this much mass outrage.
Keep an eye on the accounts that have thousands of posts. If they are out in force complaining, something is terribly wrong. If not, then things are mostly fine.
You must be super new to the community. People complain every time changes are prosposed. These complaints are nothing compared to previous updates. This forum is used primarily as a place to vent after losing a match, or going too far with theory crafting based on numbers and speculation. So the place is usually 90% angry complaints and 10% other stuff. This is very normal.
-
There were more complaints when Bloodrush was shown off for the first time when compared to this update. People thought it was going to break the game. The outrage was intense. Then we all realised it was crap, and immediately forgot it existed lmao.

@Langweilig said:
I only think it should recharge stacks slower. Otherwise it‘s fine.
Just tie token regeneration to healing others and gen progression. That way Distortion users have to be useful to their teammates if they want to hide their aura.
@Skillfulstone
Edit: You already beat me to it. That's thirteen seconds of my life I wasted lmao

@jesterkind said:
How would Leverage be used for tunnelling? If you're tunnelling someone they don't have time to heal no matter how long it takes, because you're right there, chasing them.
Hard agree on Zanshin and Troubleshooter though. That'd be really funny lol
It wouldn't do much if the killer is proxy camping, but it would help if you opportunistically returned to the hook. I feel like the perk is only really good for one thing, and it's also kind of meh. I feel like giving it an entirely new ability would be better. It'd be less good for tunneling, and killers would get a better perk.
-
The proposed changes don't seem to be aimed at making her less annoying to play against. They just seem like they're designed to make her weaker. Which was never really the problem. It's the tedious zone control that puts people off. That's still there.
-
@jesterkind said:
I find it kind of weird that people frame this discourse as though Distortion is the only counter to aura reading, when there's two I can think of just off the top of my head. As I'm writing this, I'm remembering they added another in this dev update, if I'm remembering what the effect is properly.
Maybe the idea is less "killers should have no obstacle to aura reading" and more "Distortion shouldn't be the absolute uncontested king of all stealth perks forever".
I feel like OtR is now a much better aura blocking perk. It can save you from being tunneled, if the killer is super determined to find you with aura perks. Distortion feels slightly useless now.
-
@Peanits said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3797076#Comment_3797076
The intended behaviour for Distortion is that it would recharge when a chase starts, not continually refresh while you're being chased. So in this case, unless you reveal their aura in some other way during the chase, it would counter Predator. Though Predator would leave them defenseless against any other aura reading effects afterward.
If I could ask, what was the reason behind reworking Distortion? Was it to make it weaker against aura reading perks, to limit survivors negatively impacting their teammates, or both?
-
The Power of Two perk changes are disappointing. They are still only good for SWF. These changes don't make these perks remotely viable for solo queue. I wish there were changes that made the perks usable for solo players. Some of us don't have sufficient enough material to
blackmailconvince friends to play with us. -

this isn’t supposed to be a rework, it’s tweaks leading up to a rework, but here is my prediction to what’s gonna happen
Nerfs hit skull merchant, kill rates plummet, they see this as an acceptable balance change
It happened with legion, I can almost guarantee it’s gonna happen with skull merchantThese changes just make her worse. She's still gonna be annoying to go against. These changes don't fix that, sadly.
-
This rework doesn't seem to be great. It's less a rework and more just a nerf. They changed the hindered and haste numbers, which were kind of nuts, so that's good. But I feel like the biggest problem with her drones is how spammable they are. If that wasn't an issue, I feel like people would find her less obnoxious to go against.
-
@GonnaBlameTheMovies said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3797578#Comment_3797578
They did do that, the problem is I think they may have slightly overbuffed in the other direction.
"Please play our Mode, Survivors. Look, you can be superpowered now!"
It's fair to say that BHVR sometimes overcorrects when trying to fix problems. Can't deny that. Getting hard tunneled when you can't even see where anything is, caused problems with the mode's first iteration. They have have attempted to fix that.
The gen progress buff and the new item must mean that survivors were losing a lot of time locating gens. So the devs are hoping this balances things out. Time will tell I suppose.
-
@GonnaBlameTheMovies said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3797567#Comment_3797567
That just makes no sense. Why weaken the Killer's goal of buying time by protecting gens to kill Survivors, but buff the Survivor's goal of doing them faster?
In a 1v4, the 1 HAS TO be stronger than the 4. Period, end of. This makes the 1 weaker than the 4.
I can only assume that BHVR looked at the results of the last Light's Out, and have made some tweaks to try and balance the game out. There are dynamics in the match other than gen progress. But only BHVR has that data, so I can only speculate.
-
I think this perk could easily enter the meta now. Getting wall hacks after a pallet is dropped is huge. No more getting mind gamed when there's no LoS.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3796234#Comment_3796234
And yet they buff survivor repair speed to compensate for killers not having gen defense? Makes a lot of sense doesn't it.
The game is assymetric. Some things in the game are correlated, others not so much.
-
The Distortion nerf makes aura reading builds insanely strong. For the most part, there is no counter now. I could see the perk working if there was only Barbeque and Chilli, but killers can stack aura perks/add-ons. So the perk saves you from one aura read, and then you get found immediately with the next.
I can see what the devs were going for, but I think they went a bit too far with the changes.
-
This is less feedback, and more of a Twitter post.
-
It's just a way to try and compensate for the removal of anti-tunnel perks. I don't think it will end up in the main mode.
-
So to stop the perk from being used offensively, you cut the stun down by half, and made it so no exhaustion perks can activate for ten seconds?
That doesn't just make it useless for bodyblocking. It just makes it almost impossible for the survivor get away after activating it, making the perk almost useless in every regard.
-
Wasn't there a massive thread on WoO recently? Not sure how you missed it. It was plastered on the front page for weeks.
