So here's the thing, we know that the past year has had a massive increase in players dropping games. The "go next epidemic" started about last October. That's a fact.

The devs also posted several stats staying that they have successfully increased kill rates to hit their 60% target overall, that SWF and solo q on average are escaping at about 41%, and that there are some individual killers with a nearly 70% lil rate overall. Those are facts.

It's also a fact that those kill rates were lower before, based on data, and the escape rates were higher, and the individual killer lethality went up also.

The devs are on record as stating that these changes to increase kill rates overall were deliberate, intentional goals.

    Those are the facts.

So either, you have your position: that people suddenly became more petty over time and that explains a tremendous increase in giving up. For which there is no evidence whatsoever that this change would happen.

Or, all of the game balance changes started hitting a breaking point, where all of these changes finally got to a point where players frustrations grew, their fun diminished, and for survivors, are objectively losing more. That's what the facts say.

    Your narrative doesn't hold water.

I play the game since 2018 and dcing was always bad. There were always outlier like recently Ghoul, Skully or some years ago Freddy. How many games i played with 3 people (bc bots didnt exist). But it was never so bad that i quit bc of it, also not last year.

But that aside i felt a big change. When they removed the suicide on hook. I play only solo que and had a escape rate around 40%, now my monthly rate is 65%.

    So the facts:

The game got harder for survivor

    Bad players gave up

Now they cant give up, so they quit

I get better teammates and win more

Why isnt that a good thing?

  • @Emeal said:

isnt that better because then its harder to get spotted trying to get an EMP near a gen? cause thats where Singularitys should put cameras.

No, time is key and i want to get my emp while working on a gen.

Best case scenario is that i approach the gen with an emp already, use it when needed, repair the gen and restock when the emp near me is ready.

I readily admit that petty people exist.

But just because some people are, doesn't mean that's why everyone is doing it. You have nothing but speculation for the larger picture as to why people have wanted to quit out. Claiming that everyone is petty is, at best, an oversimplification, and , at worst, just trying to dismiss any actual issues that could be improved upon. (Hint: most of the time it's the second one)

Just like some people will slug to bleedout for no other reason than a power trip or spite, but that doesn't mean that everyone slugging is doing it for those reasons.

And any time people ask to have the "unfun" parts of the game actually addressed, they get dismissed or condescended… just like these responses.

Maybe I should just start telling people who didn't like the PTB that

best thing to do is tell people, this is the game, play or dont its your choice but if you decide to play then play it. Everyone knows the flaws the game has, if people are not happy with it then just dont play.

but that seems counter productive to actually making positive change.

Yours also just speculation. We all have no data. Its funny that you dismiss the other side with those remarks, but at the same time think you know the absolute truth.

I can only speak from my experience, but its a mix, for example yesterday.

DC 1: Not really a DC, it was just stop playing and running to the killer immediately bc it was a ghoul and maybe haddonfield.

DC 2: Couldnt get a down, dced after three gens.

DC 3: Singularity on Nostromos. Tunneled one out and then tried to slug. Long game, when the last gen popped, he dced.

DC 4: Oni on Lerys after the last gen popped. Had a decent start, but couldnt get his power/ a hit in the last 3min, bc everyone predropped pallets.

DC 5: Singularity on swamp. Survivor dced immediately.

  • For most of them im not even half done, the closest one is the escaping one with 9/10.

I will never complete all of it, but im 80 in the rift, so maybe i dont need it.

But if i have to grind DBD in the last week for the rift, i will stop buying the pass. Grinding things like that has already evaporated my fun in other games, so im not doing that.

new killers DO NOT go against new survivors. Had two people try regular 1v4 as killer during the last 2v8 cycle. neither had even 3 hours in game and yet their "new player" lobbies had p100 and players with over 1k hours. consistently. First game ever….full streamer bully squad with 2 p100. The mmr system is a joke

Obviously not. You have two modes, on with 500% bloodpoints and its more casual and less stressful for new players. Almost no new player played survivor 1vs4 at the time, except someone in a swf with really experienced players.

  • The question is not why you lose rank. Its why an obvious cheater can do what he wants. The cheater problem is full out of control and i wonder how many not so obvious cheaters are out there.

What are we talking about here. Go to Gen hold M1. Press Space to drop pallet or vault woooooow so advanced mechanics man. Run to survivor press M1 to lunge. Press space to vault and break pallet omgggggg immaculate gameplay holy so advanced omg. It is a party game…… A comp game goes 40 minutes like league of legends or counter strike and is super duper complex with wave management etc. Get a grip kiddo. DBD is not a comp game

Shoot people, plant the bomb, defend the bomb. Change sides after halftime. Pretty simple. There is a reason why elo hell exists. Counter strike is full of casuals.

Even league. If you throw everything out of the windows, its just: kill enemies, destroy towers and destroy their base. Who cares about leveling and different characters (DBD: killer, addons, perks), who cares about buffs/strategy (DBD: map knowledge, macro-play, real looping). Just smash the enemy, its that simple.

  • @hermitkermit said:

I feel that while it may not be a standard party game, it is a casual one. There’s no rank mode, no restrictions, and the MMR is very loose. Even a game like Rocket League has a ranked mode.

Even a game like Rocket League? Of course it has a ranked mode, its extremely hard to get good. Playing against a better player is completely pointless, i could easier win a gunfight against a Global Elite in CS and i never even played it.

  • The term competitive is used to differently that its hard to say. Some use it only for E-sport, for others its just every PVP-game (competitive vs cooperative). So there are competitive party games like Mario Party.

So the easier question is whether DBD is a party game.

Opponents: most party games only work with friends. You play them mostly in a private lobby with people you know. So DBD can be a fun party game in KYF, but online it doesnt work.

Skill: you can get better at party games, but everyone has always a chance. In DBD a experienced player will win 100/100 games against a new player. I can play Mario Party with non-gamer-friends, but DBD would be pointless. (I can play silly builds like mirror myers, but as survivor i just did gens or healing)

Easy to start: a new player can grasp the core experience fast. Do gens or die kinda, but honestly theres a lot more and too many killer.

RNG: random elements make the game unpredictable. There are some things, but like i said: even with luck a new player has no chance against an experienced one.

So in conclusion: You can play DBD in KYF as a party game, it works great if everyone has no idea or the experienced killer goes for jumpscares/scary moments. But online it doesnt work.

the 3 other survivors who aren’t getting to have that same fun

Yup—on the games where I tunnel or get tunneled, it usually goes faster. The other three survivors still get interaction outside the tunnel. The days where one survivor holds the killer for 5 gens are gone. Either the tunneled player dies earlier, or the team actually gets to play: cover, smart bodyblocks, teamplay to buy them air to reach the next tile. Depending on the tunneled player’s skill, both paths can make sense. Good teamplay can make a hard tunnel hard. Covering a strong, stable chaser is often worth the minute you’re not on a gen.

I’m OG—I’ve seen every era. The bigger problem to me isn’t “tunnel bad,” it’s the map reworks being overcooked. Lots of maps still have strong main structures, but the filler tiles in between are gone, so the survivor can’t chain to the next resource. RNG can be nasty. Add scuffed hits you sometimes eat as survivor (netcode/ping), and you’ve got maybe one or two mistakes before you’re on the floor (pray for perks). Then there’s all the anti-chase killers/perks where the most efficient counter is early Shift + early calls.

So it’s not always “hard tunnel” that feels awful—sometimes even good survivors just don’t find resources to fight back because the tile economy or RNG isn’t there. Some reworks went too far. Then pile high ping on top.

That’s what makes tunnel moments feel worse than the tunnel itself. only my POV: We don’t need to roll back to the old days, but cranking gen pressure and trimming tiles so chases must be ultra short was a weird call. What’s the fun part of DBD? The chase. Not M1 on a gen. And on killer side, “no time, drop chase early, maybe catch someone at a gen in a dead zone” is way more frustrating to me than tunneling. Absolute dead zones at match start shouldn’t exist.

maps and stuff are hard to change, even for survivor side. habits are burned in on both sides. and y, survivors push gens like there’s no tomororw, cuz that’s often the only thing that keeps them alive in dbd 2025. pressure vs tempo, same old dance.

I dont think that stronger tiles would be better. Yh maps need fine-tuning, but with better tiles the difference increases.

The difference of chase time between good and bad looper.

And the difference of chase time between low and high-tier-killer.

And yh of course i should be getting a better chase time as a weaker player. But every second should be hard fought (good play or using up a limited strong ressource).

Even now i have moments where i know i can autopilot for the next 30secs in chase and there is no risk.

My problem with tunneling are the teammates. Not doing gens or not lasting even with bodyblocks. Right now its gotten better. Always solo brought me to a 45% escape rate, but last month it suddenly was on 72%.

Its so much better, bc nothing is more frustrating than to loop well, the killer switches, gets a fast down and ignores you the rest of the game.

  • @bleep275 said:

The issue is the influx of hyper-competitive players. One thing matter and one thing only…ego. They NEED that dopamine hit to hit. the validation of dominating another human. The "winning isnt everything"….they skipped that day in pre-school. Only way to make this community focused on mutual exchanges of enjoyment and respect is to remove any aspect of "tournament e-sports" kids. Playing to win is fine, everyone does that. But his community takes it way to far and acts like their next meal depends on a 4k or making the killer DC. Comp is the death of casual enjoyment and laughter and I will die on that hill.

I also make sometimes fun of tryhards, but isnt that a bit harsh?

Yh there are some players who take it too far. They get tilted if they lose, are toxic in endgame chat, etc. But someone who just plays efficiently has not some defects from his childhood.

Its a PvP-game. Its normal to play for the win, if someone just moves his pieces randomly in chess it would be weird. If you just want to do goofy things there are plenty of great games you can enjoy.

    Just to be clear:

Wrong matchmaking is a problem. A good chess player tryharding against beginners is also silly.

It would be better if the most efficient method (tunneling) would be not so awful for the opponents.

Chess was my first example. Dont compare me to a certain Chess-Skully bc of that. Winning like that is not healthy.

I'm LITERALLY in the DBDLeague discord right now, STARING at the rules and NOED is not on the banlist.

EDIT: Fair enough, i found a post from a mod talking about it, looks like they haven't updated the rules on the bot yet but it was just banned for this season just a week or so ago.

Np, its a really recent change. I knew it bc i watched the last season and checked the season-ruleset pretty often.

Its always interesting to see what is not allowed. Even if its not always clear if the thing is too strong or if it would jusr make the comp-gameplay worse. Well, Noed is clearly strong and a endgame build could counter the new changes.

  • @Reinami said:

I'm literally in a comp discord right now with 7000 members and i'm literally staring at the list of banned perks for killers right now. And NOED is not on any of them.

Well, everyone can play comp with their own rules. So every rule can exist.

But im talking about DBDleague, the biggest one with the best teams.

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3995639#Comment_3995639

Comp almost always tunnels and usually runs noed as well.

Nobody uses Noed, bc its banned. A lot of perks on both sides are banned, so its kinda hard to say that comp killer play the most efficient for public lobbies.

But thats not the point. Yh tunneling/camping is the best strategy, but my point is: even that doesnt help you with a non S-/A-tier-killer if the survivor have anti-tunnel.

If you take comp (5 near optimal players) as an example its absolutely pointless to play most of the killer when survivor have no restrictions (public lobby).

  • @Barbarossa2020 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3995445#Comment_3995445

it's also used heavily in comps, because they know how powerful a full team of pro survs can be.

You cant really compare it with comp. They know that tunneling is pointless against a good team of survivors with most killers. Thats why they mostly ban anti-tunnel-perks (and against some killer even exhaustion- and healing-perks), give the killer the best map and dont use the anti-camp-meter.

So if you take the comp-knowledge into account, you should never pick most of the killers.

  • The most fun i had with scratched mirror Myers was in private games. Being in voice and hearing the screams makes it so much better. It wasnt even with friends just find-a-kyf-lobby.

With that everyone had fun. When i played it in public lobbies, many enjoyed it but also many hated it. Even when i two hooked everyone and never camped. But thats the thing: you can make this combo really miserable to play against if you want. At the same time it feels really bad if people know how to counter it and also have the right perks for it.

So while i really like it, i think its better that its hard to pull off in public lobbies.

  • How?

Ghostface i dont understand. Trapper and Hag seem more problematic.

Killing someone with Pigs trap or Sadakos mori, should never happen. Except if you play against babies or you have a specific build to target one survivor to make it happen. And thats kinda similar to tunneling.

Both powers are more like a delay tool, the threat of death forces the survivor to not do gens. Like i said there are ways to make them deadly, but they are even more annoying for survivors than tunneling.

And yes i know that both killer are weak

  • @CLHL said:

In most matches there is already one survivor dead by the sixth hook, even if the killer is not tunneling.

Kinda. If noone is dead on the sixth hook, you playing suboptimal. But thats right now. The buffs for hooking different survivors, aims to change that. So we should wait for the ptb before we judge the changes.

Yeah i'm playing on Europe Server too.

It's just annoying. I simply don't have the time to keep up and practice my Killer all the time to be strong enough to Face these super efficient Survivors.

I hate that i'm being forced to Use these Super Strong Perks and unfun Tactics to even stand a Chance.

Like, i get that i can't be winning every Match with ease. But, maybe 1 or 2 in between would be kinda nice.

If its recent, its just bc of 2vs8.

At average stronger players prefer 1vs4, more casual ones play 2vs8.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

As far as we've been told, each gen is counted the same and each hook. Although the effect does stack, which is the point for helping mitigate snowballing for either side.

I'm not sure why you think this makes "spreading hooks" worse. Spreading hooks is literally spreading the pressure, which is automatically slowdown: survivors physically can't do gens of the killer is giving them attention, and can do whatever they want if the killer is hard focusing one person out of the game.

Having someone not touching a gen at all is worth way, way more than just letting them do a gen for free, at least for the killer.

Simple. Bc if you spread hooks the gens get faster. And for the rest its the same like tunneling in 1vs4 (spreading pressure vs one less guy in the game), only that 2vs8 makes it worse.

    • No hook time, but the survivor probably spawns in a cage next to survivors working on a gen.
    • Hooking activates one survivor ability
    • No anti-tunnel-perks. BT is stronger, but not enough. Bodyblocks + Medics could be really strong, but its rare.
    • You can spread pressure with Legion and tunnel at the same time. Forcing to mend is probably more delay than hooking.

Like i dont really care about the balance in this mode, but it feels a bit weird to punish spreading hooks.

  • The problem is also the amount of subtle cheaters. Had a Kate in 1vs4, who played normally. Then she was on deadhook, i saw her aura after a hook, but when i checked the entire corner nobody was there. But i heard her falling sound, thought it was a bug.

Only when she did it again later and i was too close, i realized it. Even the first time was after 10 minutes and i have no clue how many cheats she used until i had even a chance to find out that she is cheating.

  • @ChucksterMainin said:

lot of you missing the point, seems like the majority rather have a casual game experience in DBD

rather than a balanced 1v4 that you sweat every single game with a horrible solo player experience.

But not really. Why do you think its the majority? Just bc a few comments at the start agreed?

Like i dont know what is more liked. Could be, couldnt be..

But its certainly funny to call out people just bc they disagree with your opinion.

  • You should never walk around with his axe. Only recall if you want to throw it. With that you are an 115-killer.

It is a nice mechanic, but a bit hard to understand if you are new to the killer. Springtrap in general is difficult to pick up, but he is a decent killer. But yh there are killer which are easier to play and stronger. But that doesnt make him weak.

  • @SurvivorMainn said:

Part of the problem is that the community has propped up streamers that are Killer mains, like Otzdarva. If there is anything that a Survivor has that is "too good", better believe Otzdarva and his crew will make a video to pressure BHVR to nerf it.

For example, as soon as Walking Dead Chapter dropped, this guy puts out a video singling out Conviction (Michonne's perk) and title's the video, "This perk is 100% getting nerfed." ……. then he spends the video trying to make it appear like this perk can be horribly abused (with his crew of SWF's intentionally setting the video up)

Meanwhile, Clown? We have had many weeks of Clown literally pissing Haste all over DBD like a speed mon, and as of today, still no video on Clown on his channel.

Still no video on Ghoul and his ridiculous mechanics, bugs, etc.

The killer bias is strong. These people are the ones the community has empowered for BHVR to listen to, and it's backfiring

Im not sure if this is a Meme-account bc of the name, but heres the answer:

This is a really biased view. You just pick the example which fit your narrative. For example from the last three killer perks Haywire got a video.

And if we are talking about "his crew" you got Hens333 with the Clown-video.

There are plenty videos about strong stuff for both sides bc that just generates clicks.

  • It is insane strong and if something similar happens in the normal mode, i would want to change it immediately.

But this is 2vs8. Its a funmode with a huge matchmaking imbalance. So im fine with it.

  • @IWantCandys said:

Then they should give him some tweaks first.

I'm the worst looper in the world. After 1200 hours, I can't even last 20 seconds in a chase in a public match, but I can loop the trapper bot in the tutorial match for 5 gens.

I've been wanting killer bots for customs for ages, so I can learn tiles on different maps and improve my looping, but the trapper bot would be absolutely useless for my purposes, at least if ihe stays as stupid as he is in the tutorial match.

The bot would always not be a good practice opponent. Bots just play the game differently, survivor bots are also no practice substitute for a normal player. You dont mindgame a bot, you abuse his code to catch him.

You should try to learn fundamentals and for this the trapper bot would be enough:

Looping tight around objects, looking back at the killer, getting fast vaults

  • Ghoul is stronger. Their power seems similar, but thats not really the case.

Ghoul has a far better map pressure and easier injures, Wesker has a better, but more difficult chase power for the final hit.

Wesker is more map dependent. Weird collisions, different tiles, it all can make you suffer.

I use the official dbd one, idk if in allowed to link it here, kinda scared to link anything thats not youtube offical link for video or music or other people forum posts.

I track my surv wr there too, that one is bad compared to killer, my ghostie is at 51% so ill stick to that rather and not pursue wins as i did on myers.

Like i took the game way too serious since when i started myers i was i would say friendly meme with scratched instead but then i kept getting squads who dont realize it and so i just started playing for real until they beg for hatch or be friendly and we grind BP together.

So you mean killrate no winrate. Doesnt make much of a difference probably, but it makes it a bit inaccurate with hatch. But sadly even Nightlight has that problem.

Oh i meant comp level perks that people use and made videos about where they just go for win streak without loss i just assumed u call it tournament level gameplay/perks since content creators like to coat their words for publicity.

But there is no actual stats for myers only people showing off win streak in a row without loss, their actual total career loss is probably higher than their win streak

Ah, ok. But also have in mind that some win streaks are really outdated.

How do you track your winrate? Just curious if their is a tool bc most websites just track the kill rate. Thats why i only know my killrate with Myers (76%).

  • @Firellius said:

I think the time for that has passed and DBD might not have the population left to sustain that.

    That wasnt the question. :)

I dont want to know if its possible or which problems it could have, i want to know if people would use it.

But i dont mean two separate player pools. Players could still match with each other.

The real problem would be that players on really high mmr wouldnt find matches if everyone takes the slower que.

  • @Coffee2Go said:

Yeah i did search up a bit about michael and apperently "the best" players have 80-85% but like they run pure tournament perks that are intended for that.

And yeah losing happens when one side wins so at the end of the day i mainly play where i dont go for full 4k, last night i topped it off since i swapped out a perk for Monitor and got 3k could been 4k but they saw i outplayed them with monitor and decided for one to be hooked and other to escape.

I think thats really fair i love when high mmr peeps have common sense rather than prolonging chase because it was just 2 to 3 survs left.

But again yeah there is still just that one aspect which is michael is sadly "weak" killer in general at high mmr, hopefully the new changes make him as i said "viable" not to get 90% WR that would not be moral or fair, im saying something that places him on equal footing againts OTR DH and medkits.

And another thing is i noticed if i had a fifth perk that would change up things for me personally at the level

I dont know where you get this number, but tournament perks would not give you the most optimal build. The best perk for him is banned in tournaments.

And on that note: the best Myers in the world would absolutely get demolished against every team thats even close to tournament level. In a tournament Myers gets always his best maps, survivor are not allowed to use any anti-tunnel perk, any good exhaustion and probably not even healing perks. Otherwise it would be a really boring match.

  • Well, hard to give you advice.

You play Myers with a fun build (would really help if you explain what that is) and complain that you lose against survs who bring strong stuff. Like yesterday i had a Wraith with 7k hours complain when he got demolished. But he used no perks and addons. Why complain if you dont use your full potential?

Maybe you should bring better perks (not sure bc i dont know your perks). And im not talking about pure slowdown, you should cover his weakness with pwyf for example.

I also dont understand why you complain about medkits with an instadown killer. You should get like 80-90% downs with the one-hit, otherwise you dont use your strengths.

So all together: you can easily improve with Myers and dominate most survs with only 2k hours. But there are better players out there and they will still destroy you. But its rare.

I’m not saying it should directly match league rules. Some less strict equivalent. But I think it is necessary to take a system that determines the loadout depending on the tier of the killer if they want to add rank mode. Or voting system for banning. To be fair, we have stealth killers. Most of them are incredibly weak due to map dependency. Why not balance this in rank mode?

But as I said before, no one will do this. Majority will stay as casual anyway, devs probably don’t have sources to making it viable. And as u said queue time will affect a lot. Because actual tryhards won’t be really interested and stick to custom games, while people like Otz or Hens is a very small proportion of the player base. If people are so against rank mode, they should realize that tryhard players themselves are not going anywhere. Even if you completely ban the tunnel, they will make the game sweaty in the new meta because they simply play better than most.

That's why we have a choice without a choice. The system really motivates players to stay in rank mode (impossible, because it's assymetrical dbd from bhvr), or stop complaining about part of the community (impossible, because it's assymetrical dbd from bhvr)

Yh a ranked mode (even with great rewards like limited skins) wouldnt solve the issue of having strong players in the normal que. But weak players could play ranked and stay in bronze/silver to have relaxing matches. If the rank reset would set the top players only to gold, the weak players would be safe. Except smurfs, but thats impossible to avoid.

You dont need a ranked mode for that, the mmr with those rules (strict matchmaking) would also work. But if you have the normal mode like now (not so strict/fast matchmaking) and ranked (strict/slow matchmaking) people could pick their poison.

  • @BbQz said:

    Ranked que should have

I think it's funny that everyone is the game has a worse experience so a few high level players and streamers can have fast que times. Really the game is simply not designed around or for people of extremely high skill. Leave that to custom matches it's a casual party game which is why it has no comp que. Adding one will just open bhvr to even more attack as the core game can't be probably balanced.

I wouldnt call it a casual party game. Its a game where weaker players have no chance of winning against good players, so there is certainly a skill expression. Its also mainly played against online opponents. Party games are mostly played against friends.

But there is no clear definition. Is Mario Kart a party game? The online mode has a rank system.

That just shows how casual players in majority actually is

Comp players have little motivation to play pubs and constantly leave in custom game mode and discord.

That just tells that not try hards can’t deal with other sweaty players, but basically this game doesn't have actual conditions for evident skill expression, so veterans and pros artificially overcomplicate stuff by tournaments with huge list of restriction or extremely hard challenges as streaks

But Ranked and Comp is a big difference.

Comp-rules dont work if you dont have 2 teams which play 2 rounds and compare the killer results. Some matchups are expected to 4k2, for other 6 hooks is a good result. And you also cant just take the expected result from something like DBD-League as baseline bc even they have every season some killer where the balancing is wrong, for example Unknown last season.

Many people try to argument with “tryhards will be in casual anyway” but then I just want to ask why in other games rank modes exist and that's fine.

Because game designer completely reworked their rank and it is actually hard to be on top.

We already have mmr. And if looking at reality, majority of people on high MMR is still pretty casual players. I also consider myself pretty casual, even playing only on two killers and doing “hard” challenges (e.g one perk, no perks, no tunnel, win streaks, not dodging sfw gen rushers or bully sfws) and constantly see people with over 3k hours experience while having less then 1k myself. And that’s why u can get hard sfw being on absolutely weak killer or ultra hard try nurse with 100+ streak being in solo.

And that’s why when killer face with comp team in pubs, 95% of them would likely to lose. Despite probably having same MMR system.

We need to increase mmr pull to make comfort zone in ranking. So someone like otzdarva, having 14k hours never face with 400 hours survivor who even didn't play a lot against killer he played in lobby. Even me was getting common accusation of cheats, because players doesn't know pyramidhead can flick. So it will be actually comfort zone, that less motivates for “mid try hards” to switch to casual mods.

We simply can make rank mode and casual mode completely different. Like for casual people can vote to ban certain perks/killers/items, so S tier killers or full sfw genrush physically can not use their max potential in casual mode. While in rank mode the way to count your MMR will depend on rules close to comp ones, e.g. limited perks depends on killer tier, being spawned on specific maps against specific killers, no anticamp system, limited aura perks and moreover.

And for actually motivating players to stay on rank mode, game should encourage for this. More bp modifiers, charms, leader boards. Actual reputation.

But this will require so much rework. And BHVR barely can normally release chapter without turning it to cheater DDoSing guest for advertising DLC. What we expect? They won’t do this. It will upset many casual players as well, or pseudo try hards, because they can not cheese anymore or blaming “unfair tunneling or sfws” to their constant loses. No one wants to admit skill issue. Majority of “high MMR” players even can’t admit they more likely casual ones. And while it’s hidden, they pretend they are soooo good actually and that’s why their opinion only valid one.

And few want to give a voice to really experienced and strong players. Because neither BHVR nor the majority will like their opinion about the game.

The only way to realise u are on top of MMR cap - when u see TTVs with more than 5k hours in this game,

Its fine in other games bc the casual mode there is "ranked" too.

Ranked: has a visible rank with clear rules to increase your rank.

Normal/casual: has a hidden mmr with sometimes clear, sometimes unclear rules to increase

You are right, the solution is simple. You dont need two modes, you just need a stricter mmr. But we had that in the test phase. Some players like Otzdarva had huge matchmaking-times, so they changed it.

  • The safest place for casual player is in the low ranks of a working ranking system. And the MMR right now is a ranked system, so the only improvement would be to make it stricter, but that would make matchmaking time worse.

Its not the casual players who want a casual mode without matchmaking like games had it some years ago. Its the tryhards and im one of them. And yh some want to pubstomp, but many also just want relaxing games bc sweating all the time is annoying.

I quess I should just quit survivor in case I ever have emergency in future. It's really unfair one time out of hundreds/thousands matches being AFK for moment and get warning if Im ever again AFK I will be penalized.

If match lasted bit longer I would been fine in this system but killer ended it prematurely. Most suck thing my friend could saved me but asked mercy from killer instead...

No, the system removes everything after 20 matches. So if you dont go afk in the next 19 matches, your account should be completely clean.

And even if you go afk in those 19 matches the penalty is not that bad. I think 1-2 min the first time, maybe 5 min until you can search for a match again.

That's only one of the problems with the system. People get hit for being tunneled out early. What happens if you are the first down and nobody saves you? There are simply too many issues.

The tunneling one is a issue. But that has nothing to do with the topic here.

The best way to solve the tunneling issue would be to buff anti-tunneling etc. Bc personally i dont care if i get a penalty from that. If i get repeatedly tunneled that hard i dont want to play anyway.

Is the penalty for staying on hook really a thing? Seems like a big mistake, bc you cant do it willingly.

  • @Linkdouken said:

As a Trapper enjoyer I think the real buff he needs is to already start with all traps held as basekit

That would be really nice, but currently most players use the addon to just lock down the basement or similar rooms.

  • But goes it away after one hook? Right now it only sounds like a good tunneling tool.

Idk how they can fix it. All I know is it's not a good or well thought out system. It needs to be disabled until they can better fine tune it or be scraped entirely.

Lets be real, you kinda have impossible standards.

If someone is often afk at the start of the game, no matter the circumstances, he should be punished. How many emergencies would you need to have?

It's a terrible system that needs to be shut off until they can get it right.

No. The only way they could get it right is if they would stalk you and find out why you are afk. How should the system decide its an emergency or something similar? Thats just impossible to differentiate.

  • Honestly, i think thats totally fair. You got a warning, its not like you got banned.

  • It was always a survivor-sided gamemode, if every player was average. Most people play killer bc its a completely different experience.

The aura-system (showing no-hook-survivor) guides the killer to the wrong playstyle (but its more fun bc getting tunneled by a tag-team is awful). But i guess a coordinated surv team would make tunneling extremely hard. (Medics)

All in all its a time-limited fun mode and matchmaking time should be more important than balance.

  • Powercreep is just lazy. You can add new interesting stuff without making it op.

    Michael Myers main since 2017.

He got some very nice little buffs/QOL changes last Christmas that I always wanted for him. Buffing his tier 1 speed to 110, cutting the amount of stalk he needs for tier 2 by 50%, making stalking from a distance faster, doubling the amount of stalk he can get off survivors thereby allowing you to have many more tier 3's and not having to be as conservative with your stalk etc.

All these changes made him feel a lot better to play. But there is room for more.

    That's what I asked in their recent Reddit Q&A and they actually answered my question confirming they're doing more with him;

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/X6J6D03D3GRF/mikey-update-2.jpg

    So this question has been on my mind a bit recently. There's a few things I would love to see added to his base kit;

    • An activation button for tier 3, much like with Oni's power. I have seen many Michael's accidentally pop their tier 3 prematurely when they are trying to 99 it. If you're running the stalk speed add ons this can happen quite easily.
    • He kicks pallets faster in tier 3. He already has the massive lunge and faster vaulting speed in tier 3. Give him the full monty and let him chew through pallets faster too. Tier 3 is supposed to be Mikey at his most powerful, so make it so.
    • Give him the ability to switch between undetectable when in tier 2. Mikey is the ultimate sneaky stalker in the Halloween movies. Always getting the jump on his victims when they're completely oblivious to him being right there.

Brutal basekit would be nice, but they could add some Enduring into the mix. Personally i think it still wouldnt have a great impact (except the numbers are way up but that would be boring).

I also would gladly trade both tombstones for it.

  • Thats sadly not fixable with a better mmr. The only solution would be if you would wait an insane amount of time, bc there are almost no casual player in the normal lobby.

And without the split que you would be forced to play for example Chaos shuffle. The only solution are less gamemodes/events.

I personally enjoy the better chance for good teammates, but for newer killer it can be annoying.

  • But can i also ban some survivor teammates then? Maybe like 2-3 perks, which they shouldnt be allowed to use. And then, if everyone uses this system to ban the same perks, we can force people to stop using those perks.

Well, i guess the system has its problems..

  • I think it also factors in your team. You will always lose mmr if you die in a fair match, but if everyone else escapes you will lose less.

You could factor in some things like gens, which would also lessen the loss, but you never should gain mmr if you die. Except you make it completely team based and 3 outs count as a win even if you are dying.

Otherwise both sides could win and it would inflate the mmr. It sometimes feels like we already have an inflated mmr (everyone is at the top) buts that could be bc of a low max mmr cap.
