  • If they play this game and have been initiated into the community's hive mind, they probably don't deserve any respect. Don't care if you're survivor or killer.

  • They just give up and die quickly so that they can wait in queue for a fun game. Really sucks in solo queue. I swear morale so low and tilting is so much worse now. I think some ppl built up a massive ego in this game so they give up/tilt easier, while others just cycle through matches until they find a good one.

Weird thing is some stay to yell at the killer and then tell me (cuz I ask) they normally leave to go queue up but this time they felt they should say something to the killer.

  • And then the killers ask for their own rule books. Yeah no thanks... Just imagine the ones they'll get.

    - 2000 for completing a gen without being in chase with the killer in the past 50 seconds.

+1000 for going down in less than 20 seconds.

-500 for each totem not done upon escape

    - 1000 for 20 seconds of inactivity.

-2000 for tapping a gen that's been kicked, while within 32m of a killer

    Etc...

  • I think Wraith has an add-on that gives him a short burst of speed upon uncloaking.

  • I think it would be more interesting and funnier if with each totem done, noed gets stronger but it gets so strong it becomes uncontrollable.

  • I was binge watching a killer playing on YouTube and they always struggle to even count the exact number of hooks. It seems so useless that you can't tell how many at a glance unless you're close to no hooks or close to twelve hooks.

  • It's probably a bug.

  • Survivors whining about being slugged for the 4k.

Killers whining about survivors not leaving right away (99ing gates/ waiting at exit gates/ most recently can't pick up a survivor that's downed if they're being healed).

I see a lot of similar responses and rebuttals on both sides lol.

  • Aye. But some survivors mistake it for tunneling. I was just saying how it's possible.

How does one tunnel 3 separate survivors all at once?

By applying too much pressure that it feels like the killer is always on you and targeting you on purpose

  • The problem with minor nerfs to Freddie is that it doesn't change the core problem with him. He's a measuring stick for survivors. There's a certain amount of efficiency a team of survivors need to have to win against him regardless of how good Freddie is. As much as people say it takes no skill to win as Freddie, the truth is that it takes no skill to defeat him either. Nerfing him just lowers the amount of efficiency on the survivor's side required to beat Freddie. Worst case it's just another nerf that makes him annoying to play so only a select few still play him but his strength is still there.

  • Better than running the killer and no gens pop.

I'm tired of original male killers. Of the last 11 killers, only one has been purely female (Legion and twins are split) -- Plague. The female killers tend to be the better killers, too.

I still count the twins as female. Charlotte is female. The little ba... The brother might as well be a cancer cell being regrown over and over again and controlled by Charlotte. It would be like saying plague isn't purely female cuz of the infection she uses counts as separate beings.

Also, there are more threads about the lack of female killers than whatever this is about. Overall, I think it's pointless unless you care about the lore.

  • I think the problem is 2 pronged. Survivors wanted the game to be easier for the majority. They got their wish with multiple changes so people rose in ranks easier. Solo queue got worse overtime because of this. Now ppl only play SWF or beg for buffs/nerfs for solo play.

The killers wanted to slow gen times down but BHVR decided to instead speed up chase times to match gen times instead. Thus it became difficult for a single survivor to carry the whole game.

  • Darth Vader is now a possible killer in DBD. Maybe they'll add in big wheel from Spiderman too.

Yes, you can continue changing variables and the game will change. I completely agree with that.

Isn't there an issue with too many pallets right now though? (At least on The Game?)

I thought we were talking about how to make tunneling less optimal?

Sigh. Cards on the table, your ideas are bad and unnecessary. You said this:

"If gens were slowed down to the point where it wasn't necessary to tunnel to be able to get a 3k and pip, then the devs could punish tunneling, or give incentives to killers to not tunnel (new perk is a good idea. But it's a perk) without it destroying a killers chance."

Tunnelling, as it exists now, will still be the optimal strategy no matter how slow gens are.

Not if the devs put back all the pallets they removed and how tiles used to spawn so even the worst survivor could last 2 minutes again. Did you forget that Dbd used to be a game where most deaths happened either after all gens were done or rage quits? Even Spirit was mediocre back then cuz of how the tiles and pallets were set up.

  • It kinda defeats the purpose of a totem counter for solo queue if the only person who knows the real count is the last one to cleanse a totem. It's still better than nothing though.

  • I dunno where you were when ppl were saying they didn't want a Kpop idol the entire teaser.

Certainly seems that way, I'm a newb PC player but I'm a purple rank on switch.

When playing switch I get matched up with my own rank, but on PC PTB I get matched with 2 rank 5s and a rank 1.... (I'm only rank 18 on PC), the killer was a green rank trickster. Needless to say he got curb-stomped hard (only managed to get one hook).

After waiting 30 minutes to play killer (rank 19), I get matched with 1 green, 1 purple, 2 red...

Needless to say not a fun match for either side. Matches end so quick it's hard to get BP.

I don't think ptb bothers with matchmaking.

  • This video just shows how dbd used to be. U go to pallet. U wait until killer gets close. You put down pallet. Go to next pallet. Repeat.

The Entity will only does something to the killer if it doesn't kill for it. For example the Trapper. Don't think the Trickster has this issue.

I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about how the entity clearly spices up the look and wardrobe of its killers if it wants to.

  • @Mr_K said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1996079#Comment_1996079

Thats an odd response. So is it all or nothing to you?

My point is why didn't the entity change the tricksters looks? It would be just as weird if nurse was a hot red head in a nurse outfit but the entity said cover that up. Or Legion with no mask. Other characters got super weird makeovers.

  • @Mr_K said:

    American Psycho

    Clockwork Orange

Horror doesn't need to be what we see on the outside.

Then why can't we just remove the masks from Huntress, legion and Ghostface. Remove the bandages from nurse's face. The twins, doctor, trapper, leatherface, etc should look much more normal. Just make the game full of normal looking people. The entity is really weird on how it chooses to change people's looks. I guess it likes Kpop.

  • Please no more trap killers.

I don't think there is any chance that they ignored feedback on colorblind mode for years, but then after one tweet from a dude with like 75k followers they decided to bang out a functional colorblind mode in six weeks. Not trying to diminish the guy - just saying it's unrealistic to expect that he's the reason for this. I'd be surprised if they weren't already working on it well before that tweet.

I think they did ignore it for years. I mean they probably had it on a list somewhere and knew about it but it was super low priority. I refuse to believe that they're so incompetent that they struggle to change some colors in their game.

  • Personally, I wouldn't say solo is hard. I'd call it more similar to those troll games, like unfair Mario but which one is worse is preference.

  • None. I'm more worried then ever the direction the game is going in. The trickster is clearly an attempt at pandering and attracting the Kpop crowd. Imagine if nurse was released today. She'd probably be a smoking hot red head in a nurse outfit.

Have any of you heard of a perk called noed? I think it warrants some discussion, ideally here

Then some1 will bring up hatch or adrenaline. Then some1 else will bring up ruin or corrupt or whatever. Then we'll go on to keys. Next up is slugging, tunneling and camping. Gen rushing, SWF, hook farming. Afk killers. Suicide on hook survivors. Dead hard. BBQ. Kindred. Op killers. Op survivors. Etc. Etc. Eventually we'll get back to OoO. There I've gone through the journey for you.

"Mediocre accuracy"? I find it a million times easier to hit someone with a blade than with an ax from the Huntress or Deathslinger's weapon. I also don't understand "mediocre range", with the speed of the blades it's quite easy hitting someone who, for example, is vaulting a window.

Also, with the add-on "Trick Blades" (the one that allows the blades to ricochet) it becomes even easier to hit someone.

I don't know, it seems to me that it is very easy to down people. It's true that in some loops it becomes more difficult to hit them, but the moment they jump a window, move or throw/jump a pallet, it's very easy to throw enough blades to hurt someone.

Being able to hit vs accuracy is different. The further I am away from him the worst his accuracy gets and the lower the amount of knives he can accurately hit me with since he can't spam as fast since he has recoil and RNG aim spread. That makes his effective range rather short compared to how far he can actually throw. Note I'm saying effective range. Of course if you're 10m away from him with no LoS obstacles around, he's going to easily hit with knives when you're stuck in an animation.

  • As far as I can tell, he's a close to mid range killer. Highly tile and map dependant. As long as you have cover and know when/where to crouch it's hard to down with knives. The main problems with him is the time it takes to down ppl, his mediocre range/accuracy and his movement speed to get into a good position for his power to be more effective. Overall, he depends on survivors making mistakes so he downs faster. So why use him over other characters? More importantly why buy unless you think he's hot or happen to like the different playstyle?

Survivors don't like him because he doesn't feel interactive and if you let the killer get into a good position he's uncounterable. At the same time, he will eventually get into a good position. Also, he's classified as an easy killer and people don't like the idea of being downed by a killer that doesn't take skill.

As for why ppl don't like him. They don't like how he looks or they don't like k-pop.

I think when you throw the game every match and gets always reported, you could get banned. Im talking about obvious behaviour like suiciding or being afk.

And you should be aware that for every rank you depip this way you ruin the fun of 20 people. So roughly 100 people will have a bad time til you reach green rank.

You could just always not escape at the end of the match and you wouldnt get banned. But i dont know whether you get many depips that way.

Suicide on hook is banable? This is the first time I'm hearing this.

this definitely isn't the norm on USA or UK servers for a solo red rank player last off peak times

God I wish this was true but as someone who plays in both EU (UK + Frankfurt) and ocassionally East Coast NA this is the normal default matchmaking lmao. Me and my friend Sloppy were playing duos yesterday because we were both sick and tired of the awful matchmaking; and it still gave us 2 yellow ranks the majority of the time. When we went solos? We'd get people with less than 400 hours in the game (both of us breaking 4 digits in terms of playtime) and nobody was above green ranks.

Even as killer we'd be getting 4 green ranks.

I'm used to rainbow ranks too but even then more than ten rank difference between the killer and survivors is pretty new to me outside of when MMR was on. I'd assume some1 in that group was SWF.

You don't have to take it that seriously.

In the first place, this game is famous for giving a lot of consideration to Koreans, and a person named Goro Majima is popular. And I would say that he resembles Han Joon-gi, another character in the same game, than Majima Goro.

Yes why should killers go straight to generators they know are being worked on?

They should take their time, look at the sky & pray to the entity for... lore purposes.

Exactly now you get it. That survivor you recently hooked is sitting on that gen. Better leave them and go to the other side of the map. Don't want to tunnel you know.

Why can't I work on gens without having a psycho killer running around killing my allies?

''Players should run around and wander with no purpose while I'M doing my objective so I have more chance to win.''

This cat & mouse game is boring! Survivors should stand still so I can feel more powerful.

I understand this post is laughing at the camping & tunneling post but these are legit strats (that are for sure unfun) while your own post is just saying you want people to do nothing. It has no value and quite frankly this is spam to me.

Nah they just want survivors to take detours on their tasks, like killers should take detours too.

  • He just seems like a villain to me. Using these metrics you could add any psychotic villain whose happy to murder. Many of them match what you've described and they wouldn't fit in the game either. You could argue for Darth Vader or Anakin now.

While it's true they corrected that aspect for the live release, as well as added the ability to break pallets with a rush attack, at the same time they Nerfed Compound 21 which people argued made him OP, and have ignored raising his PoV until this PTB, which will go live well over 6 months since his release. Basically because of Compound 21, People whined that blight was OP and it was nerfed instantly, whereas His POV height has been a lingering issue since his release, but only now is getting fixed. You see what I'm getting at here? Anything that makes the killer "OP" is instantly addressed, and anything that underpowers or hinders them in any way isn't worked on for months or even years.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1993824#Comment_1993824

Ghost Face's PTB had him revealed by survivors ridiculously quick and from across the map at almost any angle, and when he went into "Night Shroud" mode he emitted a 20m Loud "Spooky Wind" sound effect that basically was like the killer saying to all survivors within stalking distance "HEY! I'M IN STEALTH OVER HERE! DON'T LOOK THIS WAY!" Not to mention, his power recharge rate was almost 40 seconds at base, which when you added the latter 2 problems meant there was literally no point in using his power. Being that he's a licensed character, BHVR couldn't pass up on everyone avoiding to buy him, so they immediately went to work to correct these problems by live release, and only got 2 at first but the last problem 2 weeks later.

Yet wasn't that the second iteration of Ghostface in ptb? The original's reveal barely did anything, he wasn't as loud when moving around and a few other things. Then they patched him during the ptb and the reveal went crazy.

  • @TWiXT said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1992774#Comment_1992774

I highly doubt he's gonna get buffed much. The trend with PTB to live seems to go:

Killer is OP or features something OP in their Perks/add-ons = Apply a few nerfs within the first month - 6 months after live release until they feel balanced. (e.g. Pyramid Head, Huntress, Blight, Legion)

Killer is underpowered = Wait 2-3 years to rework. (e.g. LeatherFace, Clown, Freddy, Plague, Wraith, Demogorgon, Trapper, etc)

The only exception to this was with Ghost Face, who was so laughably under-powered in the PTB that no one wanted to buy him, so the devs did some small balance buffs right after release and then again a week or 2 later. Other than that, I can't think of a single instance where a killer was weak in the PTB, and buffed to at least Decent in less than a year, So yeah... I'm willing to bet that Trickster may get some minor tweaks to his mechanic, but nothing that will make him strong in any sense, at least not for another year or three after he's released.

I thought ghost face was nerfed for being too strong in the ptb but they overdid it so they buffed him back up.

I mean....I don't have a problem with either but I wouldn't be so quick to pass off Fnaf given visually they are absolutely way more unsettling than this guy.

That being said I think....ugh calling him the trickster still feels so dumb....can we just call him "The Idol" or something anyways and call it a day? Anyways, I think he is visually not as creepy, but they gave him a pretty creepy ass demeanor and that makes up for it imo.

I'd still prefer actual nightmare robots or clockwork killers than FNAF ones. U could even separate the animal features from FNAF and make animal creatures or demons with red eyes and rows upon rows of teeth. Waste of 2 different genres to draw from just to have FNAF in the game.

  • Shouldn't we be checking the interactions between everything?

  • You've answered your own question. They're struggling enough reworking and then fixing the old maps.

  • In before bhvr bans them cuz they were reported too many times for afk killer.

  • I don't think BHVR is going to make any irl serial killers into killers.

  • @KiwiCoattails said:

He’s completely different to Pyramid Head, so no lol.

PH players would pretend to use POTD and then cancel it and go for the M1, putting you in a lose / lose scenario. The Trickster can’t do this as his power works in a different way. You have to hit a survivor with, I think, 8 knives before they are injured or downed.

When you hit a survivor, all of the knives are removed from their body. So you’re either committing to throwing knives or you’re using M1. It wouldn’t make sense to throw a few knives and then M1 as you lose progress.

I mean that you hit the survivors a little to help build up the 8 hits. Then when they get to the pallet or window you force the lose/lose situation. If they get stuck in an animation you throw knives and hopefully down, else you just m1.

You're not even making sense. You started this discussion by saying the Trickster doesn't belong in DbD and then can't even tell us why you feel like that. You just hide behind the questions: is it his clothes? His hair? His attitude? We'll never know I guess?

And then you say that someone with a freaking spoon would be a better fit than him? What ...

It's very simple. There's no single part of the tricksters character that you can point to that says he's a horror killer nor a single part that I can point to that makes him not a horror character. It's just him as a whole that doesn't quite fit with dbd to some ppl. My assumption is that the trickster sticks out as just a villain.

Ppl trying to play gotcha with different characters isn't really working either when it's not the point cuz I can easily point to thousands of characters that probably don't fit in dbd just cuz they're psychotic. But if you want to add in a character like evil superman, Chara from Undertale, a random sith lord, Nishiki from Yakuza 1, etc.

Also, I think you're mixing up scary and psychotic to mean horror themed. Those don't necessarily go together.

1 2 3 4 … 22
