WRONG. I’ve seen this repeated over and over again. This misinformation really needs to stop. See the devs response on the new MMR.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/MRIUBIA188TP/745b3bf4-03be-4f5c-8657-aa2bb71b90bb.jpeg

Keep in mind you only posted 5 games. For all we know you haven't played anything more than the 5. You might need to play 5 more. And your rank will constantly change past that.

All 20 survivors you went against also may not have played their 10 matches either, or might be playing with friends of a higher rank. Or maybe the system just sucks, who knows. But it's still too early to tell. Even if you'd play 10 matches in a day, someone else might play 10 matches in a couple weeks, because that's all the time they have for this game. So their MMR is going to be wonky for the first few weeks because the system hasn't averaged out their "skill" yet.

I know it happens. I just don't think it's a good enough reason to throw out the whole system.

If you only disconnect during an emergency and aren't someone whose job depends on them being somewhere else at random points in time or people die, you'll be fine. The penalties do stack, but if you don't DC for some time, they reset.

I don't think that's explained very well, which is why some people are upset by the ruling.

Idk these hyperbolic extreme posts are grating on the nerves. Everyone who disagrees with the dc penalty is a rage quitter? Really? Cmon dude

  • I mean if a family emergency, or even just my family needs me for something important, I'm disconnecting, I ain't waiting to finish the game while my grandpa needs to go to the hospital.

The issue isn't that itsjust five minutes, it's that nobody wants a mark on their record for occasionally disconnecting due to any number of reasons. We all have our bad days, amd the way the system is advertised it's led to assume these are permanent, if you dc a number of times over a length of time, it stacks up on you.

  • I struggle to see where anyone is while someone is hooked. I often use Kindred to decide if it's worth running to the hook or if I should draw the killer away, but more often now I'm looking around three or four times because I can't see anyone.

  • It's not that bad, it was in the last Tome or the Tome before that. It's not necessarily difficult, it does encourage you to sacrifice yourself to save everyone else, which actually nets you more points than just escaping. Hell, it's worth it just to attempt it, escaping wouldn't net you a whole lot.

  • I mean you can't beat her because you don't know how to play against her.

Once you learn how to properly boop the snoot, you'll find that 60% loss turns into a 60-70% win. Just don't expect her not to hook you a couple times at the very least. Snooty snoot needs points too

Don't ask that question, we'll never actually get to a result.

Every, every, mori/key thread is constantly responded with "CAN'T FIX ONE UNTIL WE FIX THE OTHER FIRST, END OF DISCUSSION LALALA"

A lot of his audience is very inexperienced and biased. They'll quote him and say how he didn't do anything wrong when he clearly makes mistakes in his matches. I'm not saying he isn't allowed to make mistakes, but just pointing out that they don't really know what they're saying.

That's a fair assessment. He's got his opinions just like everyone else. He just has a wider audience, impressionable new players who latch on to negative memes over constructive learning and end up parroting viewpoints that they might not have fully formed themselves, just absorbed through hours and hours of watching/listening.

Honestly it's a pretty common thing. You listen to people talk about negative things all day you start to believe them yourself, even when you haven't had enough experience to really have a real opinion about it.

But i said our main objective was to hide instead of doing gens. So if someone is not hooked or killer is not near we would usualy do slowly two 1 or two gens and the rest would be hide and seek since killer would usualy proxy camp hooked surv (for a reason ofc). Game would get longer then the normal ones also. So that is why i asked is it that holding a hostage.

So you're asking about a very specific scenario.

My answer is still no. Your strategy for doing gens is to throw the killer off, why is that considered holding the game hostage?

I mean you can apply this to any competitive or non-competitive game, how is using a different strategy than the norm holding the game hostage?

It's the same thing people who say that the only reason you should play DBD is for the chases, because avoiding the killer is boring. It's completely superficial and opinions change from person to person. Why is their opinion more right than anyone elses? (hint: it's not)

  • I don't think it is, honestly.

The game is still going, the odds are heavily stacked against you, but honestly anything could happen. The game hasn't ended yet.

The EGC fixed the problem of actually holding the game hostage, this new interpretation just makes anything you do other than sprinting from generator to generator be considered holding the game hostage, which is just definitively not true. You're not holding the game hostage for trying to survive.

You might be stubborn as a mule and refuse to give up, but that doesn't mean you're holding the game hostage.

I've been really wound up about a lot of the shenanigans and DBD going-ons recently, the mid-chapter patch this time around seemed horrible. Auras first and foremost are worse than they've ever been, Hillbilly and Bubba added to the pile of killers with horrible add-ons and ultra rare add-ons specifically, my main Ace only got one cosmetic in the rift despite this tome being the one that tells his story, meanwhile characters like David, Dwight, and Meg who have gotten a cosmetic every single tome from 1-3 and now 4 are getting even more which made me so sad.😢

I think it's because some irl stuff is stressing me out... these essentially small details of things of something I do enjoy going "wrong" only make things seem all the worse.

    something good, something positive...

Y'know, I think the Greek Legends collection is actually really cool. Once again the art team knocked it right outta the park, I really hope you can earn most of those cosmetics with shards and you're not forced to pay with auric cells.

...I don't know why this thread made me so sad all of a sudden. At what point did I forget the words "stay positive"...?

This tome is much better than the last one. Different characters getting new skins, it doesn't feel like a reskin of an existing one. It's nice. Also that luchador trapper is probably the best killer skin after elephant clown.

I never knew the bad balance decisions and major amount of bugs that constantly appear after every major patch was our fault.

There are things that need fixing.

The "BHVR" of the community is probably the biggest thing. I honestly don't know how some of the big names that keep getting mentioned, quoted, posted, and used as legitimate authority here got their fame, as they are some of the biggest proponents of negativity in this game. Their reach and attitude creates a lot of mimics who spout their rhetoric as if it were the truth, when it's honestly a mix of both, but we(the community at large) have mostly decided that if BHVR doesn't fix their problems first we shouldn't be held responsible for being garbage human beings to one another.

And I'm not saying they shouldn't be negative, but the way they espouse their critique doesn't actually do anything constructive, it just creates a mob of fans who view every highlighted match their streamer plays as the cold hard truth of the entire game.

The truth is there are problems with the game, but those problems don't excuse our rotten behavior. And unfortunately until that behavior changes, nothing BHVR does will matter, because there will always, always be something the negative Nancys and Steves think is broken and needs changing.

  • For someone with the name Anarchy753, you're really pushing for order over chaos, here.

All joking aside, it's just a skin. There are so many skins that don't match the definition of their names, or they just don't make complete sense. It's not really a big deal.

  • I like the rework so far.

This is coming from a match where I faced a tunnel mori slug billy who literally let me bleed to death so he could get a guaranteed 3 mori game.

Aside from playing against someone like that, I like the atmosphere he gives. And the chainsaw is super quiet now, I hear it initially go off but he has to be really close to hear it after that

  • I'll get used to them, but I don't like them. I feel like I'm facing wire frame fighters in Melee.

It's a small dumb thing but it's whatever. There are more important things to be worried about in the end.

So what it's still meant to depict his image, just because you're ok with it doesn't mean everyone feels the same as you, there are alot of people who would quit the game over that, it honestly has no place in this game , now if he were to get a blight outfit on Halloween that was resembling a robe but in Jeff style I wouldn't mind but if you flat out try to make a jesus skin out of jeff you're gonna piss alot of people off even if they aren't vocal here about it like I am

I honestly don't care either way, I'm pointing out a major flaw in people's logic. The Jesus my Mexican grandma prays to every night is not the same Jesus that died so she could go to heaven.

Why should I hold back, though? If all survivors are around me and refuse to split up allowing me to slug them all - why should I ignore that chance?

I'm not saying you should, not at all. If you want to play ruthless killer no mercy that's all you honey. You do you.

What I am saying is that you shouldn't expect everyone to play at your level, regardless of the color or number of their rank.

Before, killers were complaining, boycotting, and threatening to leave because queue times were high, because there were fewer red ranks due to the difficulty of getting there. Now there are loads of red ranks and you're complaining because they can't be as good as you expect them to be.

You cannot have your cake and eat it, too. These are the sacrifices the devs made to fix the problems players before you were complaining about. It may have even been you.

The game is only as competitive as its playerbase. And the playerbase is not very competitive.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1480271#Comment_1480271

I expect red rank survivors to play like red rank players. If they get slugged at 5 gens they never belonged to red ranks.

I shouldn't have to hold back at any moment throughout a match just because my opponents made it to red ranks by cleansing dull totems and farming altruism.

Again, that's an arbitrary expectation. Red rank to you means something entirely different to me means something entirely different to a dev means something entirely different to a streamer, and so on and so forth.

There is no defined list that makes a red rank. You get there because you get there. Sometimes your red rank teammates are potatoes and sometimes you become the potato because you're just having a bad game.

We're not gatekeepers. This ain't MLG. No one's getting a million bucks for looping the killer for seven minutes. Don't take the game so seriously and don't expect players to play at your level just because you have the same number/color in the top right corner of the screen.

They want him to have a cosmetic that portrays him and I wouldn't find that too funny is all I'm saying , I get why people suggest it lol but it would be a bit too much and then what's next? The Pope? Mohammed? Buddha? From there you just start going down a bad road that would give this game a terrible rep and make alot of people not want to play it.

The irony here is that Jesus looked nothing like how he is commonly depicted. He was a Jewish Israeli in the Roman Empire, no one living there at the time looked like some long haired white guy with a beard and a white robe.

So the skin would just be a fun thing to poke at. Like an Easter egg. Hey look that's a joke I didn't even intend.

  • @Yamaoka said:

Tru3 himself slugs up to 3 survivors at 5 gens if he gets a chance to do so.

The only reason he won't slug all 4 survivors is his beloved pip (that you definitely need on red ranks for whatever reason) so he will usually let them recover to a point where he knows they can't win anymore while factually MILKING said survivors that clearly don't belong to red or purple ranks.

Personally I consider it a feat of skill to literally speedrun a 4k. If all 4 survivors are REAL red rank players INDIVIDUALLY they won't get slugged and they will split up and pump out gens even while injured.

If everyone gets slugged in 1 minute they belong to yellow ranks. Just my opinion.

Let's not be gatekeepers. You ain't a real gamer just because you have some arbitrary checklist of skill and ruthless logic to back you up. Take a chill pill and maybe step back and review your priorities.

Don't expect people to play to your standards unless you want to be treated the same way. Because I guarantee you there are some people out there who think a 31,999 game means you're a garbage player who should uninstall the game, because you're obviously trash in their eyes.

  • @KingFrost said:

They shouldn't increase the time. That's incredibly unfair to people who experience issues with the game outside of their control. Instead, I think players should receive reputations, and if you DC too often, you get a bad reputation and get put in a type of bad sport lobby. You stay there until your reputation improves. DC penalties give up to 1 hour of timeout. Reputation would be based mainly on how often you disconnect from matches vs how often you finish matches.

Something like this is far more helpful than a 5 minute ban, I think. Shame the members of the community by giving them a badge. The trolls will always be trolls and when they dc at the start you can't be surprised, but those who care enough that they want to play will find that few people will actually put up with their behavior, and they'll likely be forced to play with the trolls for several games in order to get it removed.

And it can happen over the course of several games, not just zero tolerance. Sometimes a dc is warranted, either the killer is holding you hostage, real life gets in the way, an emergency, a power outage etc. So the badge you gain won't happen after one or two dc's, but if you're consistently dcing a certain amount after so many games, you're going to be branded for a bit. It's harmless, it won't do any permanent damage, but there's power in social discipline. People learn their lessons when they're called out for their behavior.

  • How will you enforce it?

  • When I have fun, that's when I win.

As arbitrary as that sounds, it's quite a wide umbrella in my point of view. I know some people think the only fun thing is winning, or that winning is the only way to have fun, but like one of the devs said, sometimes it just takes a totem, a hook save, making sure at least one person survives, getting everyone on a hook, killing at least one or two people. It's all their own viewpoint and none of it is really invalid, it only invalidates itself when it asserts that it is the only valid way to play.

I know I'm not going to win every match. It's a constant inconsistent experience of on-and-off enjoyment and frustration. "Winning" isn't really a goal for me, not in the same vein as what you've stated. Escaping is nice, but making sure everyone else escapes is way more rewarding. Hey I got you out, bud. See you back at the campfire. Or even as a killer I don't mind everyone escaping, I just don't like it when the matchmaking completely blows. I tend to play more piggy now so my fun is just getting a snoot booped and I'll let them carry on, usually only hooking them twice. I'm having fun, so I've already won. That's just how it is for me.

  • @Callmehandsome said:

I actually troll the killer sometimes when i equip broken key as a survivor. Then the killer equip ebony mori, his strongest addons and potentially a map he prefers. He wasted all that just to get rid of me and a broken key 😂 I had funny reactions from couple killers as they were quite salty 😂😂

Ah, a fellow chaotic, I applaud your efforts. It's not a constant thing, but every now and then you get someone who just goes ballistic over your key. It's kinda funny, but also shows just how much keys piss off killers

  • I mean we all have lives outside of being on the forums. No one specific person is here to fix your boredom. Go read a book or take a walk outside for a bit if you don't like waiting. Go do something else.

  • I'd say your first time hitting rank 1 is an accomplishment.

Every time after that it's just playing the game, it honestly doesn't matter. Anything between ranks 8 and 1 are pretty much the same.

This is like me doing homework when the teacher tells us to write at least 300 words.

Well he wanted an essay and I felt like I was in grade school again. Nothing like rewording your first sentence twelve times to really fill out some of those paragraphs!

  • As much as I like the stories he wrote and the legacy he left for everyone else to build upon, he was also a raging xenophobe with a severe mental disorder.

The Entity is already considered an Eldritch god of sorts, I think the surrounding lore of the game is supposed to lead to that idea. I think adding something like that into the game would really lose its flavor very quickly. I mean that can also be said for pretty much everything, but a figure like that wouldn't do well as a killer. Maybe one of its followers, something like a priest or monk who sets it upon themselves to follow the will of the Entity or something like that, but not an eldritch deity themself.

  • @Valor188917 said:

Why would a soloescape mean nothing, playing altruistic gets you killed in the first place . Sure the game isn't played that way but we're talking about theory here, not actual gameplay.

You get more points for saving someone in End Game Collapse. Honestly the numbers are nuts. One match I didn't do any healing at all, I might have unhooked one person prior to EGC. EGC started, I ran and unhooked one person, healed them up, and got iridescent altruism. That's nuts, dude. You can make up all your lack of healing at the end game, where it matters most, and even if you die you can still get a pip and probably top 2 scores in the game.

It is mathematically impossible for killer to win let alone get a kill if survivors are even somewhat efficient.

Luckily we are all humans and not robots.

  • Piggy is the best. She is the best killer. Let me list the reasons why she is the best killer. Piggy kills the best because she has boop the snoot, reverse trap the bear, and lion growl lion growl. This is my fifth sentence, next paragraph.

Piggy's boop the snoot is the snootiest of boops. Her boop is a cheat code that allows all survivors to survive. The Entity requires all survivors to boop the snoot in order to not get booted out of the game. If all survivors boop my the snoot, they are guaranteed to survive, the Entity will no let Piggy final hook them. This is my fifth sentence.

Piggy's reverse bear traps are a good way to slow the game down that doesn't require ruin. This allows you to inform the survivors that they must boop the snoot in order to survive the match. If a survivor boops the snoot, they can be undisturbed while they take off traps. If survivors do not understand to boop the snoot, they have two hooks and several minutes of taking off the trap in order to get the message. This is my fifth sentence.

Finally, lion growl is most definitely a superb communication tool. You can use it to lunge, you can use it to inform survivors they must boop the snoot. It is also fun being smoll piggy and growling as you walk around. If survivors try to run instead of doing the ritual of the booping of the snoot, you can quickly reach them. This is my fifth sentence.

To conclude, booping the snoot is the best way to play the game. Playing piggy is the only way to ensure a booping of the snoot can happen. If snoots are not booped then survivors get the boot. Right up to the hook. That last sentence was indeed a sentence shut up Mrs. BHVR I deserve an A+ for my brilliant essay. That was my fifth sentence, I get extra credit for making six.

  • When your only options are boop the snoot or get the scoot, piggy is hands down my favorite.

  • Stop. Seriously. It's not good to divide the community. You're not insulting anyone other than yourself when you do this.

If the killer got all 4 kills then it sounds like gen speed really doesn't matter if you play your cards.

Killers shouldn't lose 3 gens in the first chase, yes the game does slow down a bit, but not nearly enough against organized teams at high ranks. Even so, it would be better for both sides if they evened it out a bit more and slowed the game down a bit in the early game, but sped it up in the later part of the game.

These arguments of high rank group play is so niche though. Like out of the hundreds of players in red ranks, so few of them are groups. I get it, it sucks, but it's like me complaining about getting mori'd almost every game for a couple days. I'm just unlucky with the matchmaking. It's anecdotal at best.

The argument that the potential of a group doing this is real, but the reality of it is that it's not common, not fun to play this kind of style for more than a passing moment, as a gag or just to feel "pro." It's just not fun in general, which is why the vast majority of players don't use these playstyles, and if they play as a four person group, it's usually just to mess around, play meme builds, etc.

This forum seems to give off the impression that all survivors, duos, trios, four person groups, are all trying to sweat the P3 blood off their clothes as they abuse every mechanic in the game to beat them. When the reality is that the player you couldn't catch that one game probably got the crap beat out of them the last game, and might have that same experience the next. It's not a consistent experience for players. Stream highlights and YouTube videos only show the best three games they had but in reality they probably played several before, several in between, and several after, all which didn't make the cut.

If they have the skills to back it up then is it REALLY cocky?

There's common social etiquette called being humble. It's a very common thing to do, yet there are several people out there who do not do it, they are cocky.

Being cocky has nothing to do with actual skill, it has everything to do with your attitude on the field. You can be the best player in the entire league, but if you're a cocky sack of turds, you're not going to make very many friends.

Maybe that doesn't matter in a game where you can instantly match up with a new random person every game, but I guarantee if a good killer was caught off guard by this guy and then they see them again in lobby, all gloves are off, they're getting camped or tunneled. No one wants to play against that.

Being cocky turns a good game into a bad game. Being cocky makes people who initially respected you for your skill suddenly lose all respect for you because you lack the maturity to carry that skill to something worthwhile(in game). You're no longer fun to play against or with, everyone wants to be disassociated with you.

I've always been of the mind that the game doesn't truly start for The Killer until there are only 2 gens left

Any damage I can do prior to those first 3 gens going off is just a handicap in my favor. There's just no realistic way to patrol and guard that many gens so your job as the killer at the beginning is figure out where everything is, get a down or two if you can, and try to herd the survivors into doing the gens that you want them to do (for example, I will stay in an area where I think I can get them to three gen themselves and just let them those far outside gens).

Once you get to two gens, that's when the killers job to defend the gens begins

The game tends to halt at two gens usually. Once the killer gets the ball rolling, at least three people are on first hook, usually at least one is on death hook, and probably in a chase. Once one person dies(usually at two gens left, sometimes three, sometimes one), the game basically halts. You often end up with a constant rotation of one person being on hook, the other saving them, and a third being chased.

Usually. I find most of my matches end up that way, even if there's a rushed feeling. Often times it's rushed because everyone did three generators that were close together, leaving the last four pretty close together.

I literally left the 3 gen for 3-4 minutes to let them get out of it (since i just wanted the game to be over) came back to check and nope no progress. So they had no intention of doing gens they just wanted me to dc. So yeah what they were doing was holding the game hostage. Its also pretty hard to find a spinechill claudette on backwater swamp.

That genuinely sucks, but I mean honestly unless they were running around checking for you, there's no way they could have known you went afk. I don't want to give you the benefit of the doubt but I honestly don't know the whole story, just your side of it.

Dude, you totally just pulled off an Afternoon Special Ending, or one of the 80's cartoons where Hawk comes out to tell us what the message of the episode was. Fantastic! Good job! I'm totally flashing back to Orco coming out at the end of the He-Man episode and telling me that if we just keep standing for unity, we might just win one day. lol

    Good luck out there.

The best afternoon special ending I can recall is the Static Shock gun violence episode.

No but I was referencing Popstar. The subtitle is literally "Never Stop Never Stopping" lol

  • Pennywise and the Entity are both horrific cosmic beings. I'm not entirely sure it'd work out, I think they exist on the same plane basically.

Yes, and rain is wet. Everyone here knows this already.

A few of us hold out hope that one day we will stop being an Us v Them community and try to make strides in improving the game as a whole, but it's more likely that Mick Jagger will appear in my front yard riding a Unicorn made of Lightning....which would be really odd. Not even sure where that came from. Maybe I played Cards Against Humanity too much?

I think the point is to never stop never stopping. 😉 If we keep promoting unity and(gently) call out those who seek to segregate the community, slowly but surely we'll see some progress.

Yep that one at the end is the one that always kills me. Half of them sticking out around an object, I aim for that, and it decides to pull me towards the center of their model which is behind a wall and I bounce off. Absolutely infuriating.

When I play survivor I get the opposite, I'll round a corner and the killer somehow lunges and hits me with the tip of their hitbox. I go down and I'm several meters away from them.

    people complained about billy nerf.

    billy got less nerfed

probably some swf and Noed posts.

something about mori and keys aswell.

    that's pretty much it

Ah yes the tried and true mori/keys thread, always goes nowhere.

    MORIS NEED NERF

Hi my name is SurvivorSteve420 and I think moris are broken, I don't like that they kill you, I think I should just get a free escape for a killer bringing in a mori=

Reply -- You think moris need to be nerfed? WHAT ABOUT KEYS??? KEYS ARE THE PROBLEM HERE! THEY'RE SO BROKEN! WE CAN'T HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT MORIS UNTIL KEYS ARE FIXED

    KEYS ARE BROKEN

Hi my name is KillerKyle69 here to say that keys need to be removed, Survivors repair one generator and then leave via that hatch it's soooo not fair. In fact keys should automatically kill all survivors instantly. Especially if they're SWF

Reply -- OMG BUT WHAT ABOUT MORIS WHY WON'T YOU TALK ABOUT THOSE? WE CAN'T HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT KEYS UNTIL MORIS ARE FIXED
