  • Killer:

"Friends till the end" - score a hit on a survivor and all party survivors (swf) auras shown for 5 seconds. Useable every 45 seconds.

"Not so fast"- entity blocks the hatch for 60 seconds if another survivor dies on the hook after all generators are completed. Goes into affect when hatch would normally open.

"Limp Bizkit- Break stuff" - smash one pallet before being dropped after 4 hooks. (Then go down in hooks for tiers, only usable once.)

"Toxic Cramp" - once a survivor has crouched too many times in rapid succession, survivor gets a cramp. The become exhausted, cry like the injured state, reveal their location and cannot run for 60 seconds.

    Survivor:

"Crawl before you can walk" - once put in dying state, manage to crawl 48 meters (radial, out from the center not total by going in circles. A substantial distance.) from that location and return to injured state.

"I think we did a pretty good job so far" - if all survivors are in the dying state at the same time with 5 generators left to complete, all survivors return to the injured state extept the last one to fall. (Anti slug and a restart. I don't like ending the game like that but it happens and sometimes I let the survivors restart but they think it's farm time.)

Full disclosure, I like keys, I like old moris occasionally, I like the hatch, I like the new ruin over the old. There should be some greater counter to the hatch since grabs are gone. I do hate that ruin and undying feel essential until you get crazy match making sessions. Really limits the game for killer. The thought of a killer dropping a pallet during a stand off is kind of funny.

  • Ive been taking the gamble lately.

Last night I saw 4 Aces in the lobby. Almost left instinctually.

    Offering: ormond.

In game: 3 Aces lined up at the bar while one dressed close to a bar tender stood on the other side. It lasted way longer but ended up being a pleasant surprise.

    First, 250 hours. Cute.

Second, one 4k humble brag? Oh no hon, I've got other tales for that situation, but I'm not bragging. I'm explaining how rank isnt anything other than a matchmaking tool, and "high ranks" losing like "low ranks" shows that. Rank doesnt matter.

Third, people STILL say sorry for matchmaking. Hell I say it. But that's matchmaking not working correctly. Rank is seperate, it is what matchmaking USES. rank doesnt matter, and with matchmaking broken, we can see that clearly.

Fourth, rank has NEVER mattered. Its ALWAYS been a matchmaking tool. It had an optimal goal as to how well it could/should work, and hasnt, but it doesnt change that rank simply doesn't matter.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/444/T0RZSD3LRC6W.jpg

Lastly, I dont have to tell myself anything. I play both sides, and get all kinds of ranks. And seeing it in action, other than pure rank 20s and rank 1s, they're all over the god damn place in term of actual skill.

So, I'm sorry you feel so sour about it, and arent having fun, but rank isnt actually a rank. It's a pseudo mmr and leads people to think otherwise, causing issues in a game where it wont ever be perfectly balanced.

Hope your day gets better. <3

Yeah it's just rough trying to start playing to get rolled by rank 1 when you're just scratching the surface of green ranks. Once passing that threshold it's been too frustrating to consider it enjoyable.

I was salty when I wrote that. Rank 1s telling me at 13 to git gud etc post game. Nothing personal just salty at the time.

I do not subscribe to this answer. "Rank doesn't equal rank". Rank equals a combination of time invested and effort. What that ratio is, idk. You give an example of your one 4k humble brag match like that means anything.

My issue: I have 250hrs invested into this game @ rank 14. How TF do I get placed against a collective 8-10k+ hours red rank survivors to get ######### on in the post game chat when you can clearly see the rank disparity.

When mm really took a ######### you'd see survivors comment post game "wow bad matchmaking sorry for being ...(fill in the blank)" now the defense is rank don't mean ranks hurr durr.

Whatever you need to tell yourself bud.

After typing this I've realized I'm really not having fun anymore. It used to be fun but now its like going to work except my boss is a dick and I hate my coworkers. I'm taking a break.

Yeah, hidden rank will be fine, because rank isnt rank.

Had a game last night I thought was tough, but not hard. Had to play smart but not sweaty. I expected green/purple ranks.

3 red ranks. I'm at 14 killer since reset (and I play more survivor) and got 3 red ranks and a purple.

That being said, it was a 4k. So just being in red rank doesnt actually mean ######### if you cant play.

So why bother worrying about seeing the ranks, when they dont acurately represent anything. 🤷‍♀️

  • The only time I feel stress as a survivor is unlocking the gate. I don't know why but it always gets my heart rate going.

    Killer is stressful all game.

  • I feel like itll make hangman's trick essential which sucks. One perk slot eaten up for an update. The new version does look great but the changes will make SWF teams damn near impossible to hook. Body block, flashlight saves, sabotage, no mither, autodidact and unbreakable will be more effective.

I think it's a step in the wrong direction if there is supposedly a lack of killers. I don't know the numbers but it seems killer wait times have gone up since the PTB and survivor has gone down slightly. Just my observation.

This could happen because the player pool is bad at the time you go to play. I have had games around 3AM on my Nintendo Switch and I was Rank 10 and had a few survivors with me 14 and lower ranks. The killer was rank 4 but I was not to upset because at that time of night I was lucky to even get players. I mean yes the rank system might and probably is broken but you also have to put into account the player base. If they have no one around your rank would you rather not play at all or just try harder. I mean it is suppose to be a game so have fun and if you need a break take a break. I have my problems with the game very much so but I also know it is just a game. I think maybe if they finally did Cross Play the player base would be bigger and getting matched with the right ranks might be easier.

    Agreed.

Time of day dramatically affects the matchmaking. Although I've noticed at peak hours I get significantly worse games. I figured it would be better. Probably due to an influx of red ranks looking for matches. It's just frustrating and stops being fun can feel more reminiscent to working.

  • @CookieMan said:

Killer is not that hard... Honestly you are getting very unlucky being paired with swfs or you are bad(which i doubt considering you supposedly have over 1k hours).

SWF is not the main culprit. The matchmaking is #########. There is little reason for rank 1s and 2s survivors to play against rank 10 killers. In a normal game that should be considered a fluke or an anomaly. It is the status quo here. Is it even fun for red rank survivors?

SWF just adds an accelerant to the dumpster fire.

I do not deny that his perks are good, at least 1 or 2 of them, but I think his ability is not worth it, it is certainly fun, but just losing your light and your radius of terror when you are crouched does not seem very useful , since immediately when you want to ambush your light turns on and you make a lot of noise, making it very difficult to attack someone, also because of its size it is very difficult to see something when it is crouched and that the traps only activate when a generator is repaired it seems unfair, I think ghostface is much more useful and very similar in its mechanics, I would say that it is an improved pig without all the defects of she has. I think that 1 hit is more useful than putting a trap after 2 hits, and that does not activate until an engine is repaired many people do not remove the trap and continue repairing because they know that it is very easy to remove it and that they have enough time to go to 4 or 5 boxes without the trap opening in their head

Yeah the rush attack is not a good stealth attack. You're better off with an m1. I think m2 is best suited for pallet stand offs. I also find trapping someone's head then once again when they get more effective than using them all one per survit.

When used on me the blindness is my least favorite. It forces you to check all hooks for your teammates near the end game or let them die. It's risky to run around blind looking for teammates with 1 or 2 gens to go when the killer has 1k or better.

  • @Mastropiero said:

Why is the pig so weak? The killers that are paid like Mayers can throw you in one hit, gosthface too, leatherface can also throw you in one hit and Freddy (in addition to having the arm of the elastic man of the fantastic 4) is a very strong killer. Again I ask: why is the pig so bad if it is also a killer that cannot be obtained for free? are plans to improve it? Is there any enmity between the developers and the owners of the rights of the film? I feel a bit cheated when paying for such a useless killer, the traps are not difficult to remove, they are only activated when an engine is completed... she has so much against it that I am really thinking of asking for a refund for her 🤨

Having a one shot is not a requirement of a good killer or paid killer. I've only used pig through offerings two dozen times or so. Every game, with the exception of maybe one or two games, I did really well. That is with no perks and no add ons at green/purple ranks. It is the next DLC I will buy. Her ability to go undetectable at will with gen monitoring perks can make her incredibly deadly. Some of my friends consider her the biggest PITA to face because 0TR and time wasting traps. Face her at the meat plant or hawkins, forget about it.

Traps are medium risk/ high reward. They can effectively slow the game beyond the point of old ruin. If you're removing traps you're not doing gens. The game becomes 3v1 or player 4 becomes an easy target while trying to remove. Factor in add-ons that cause exhaustion or blindness and traps are even more deadly and cause greater drag on the team. The only crux is how easily traps come off. It could be one attempt or it could be four.

True closed the hatch before they could jump in, that's all that happened. He was right there before it even opened... What wasn't fair? Are you saying once the hatch opens, your entitled to a free escape and the killer is absolutely powerless?? 😂

Must have been my lying eyes. Could've sworn he nabbed a Dwight on the hatch

How are the hatch mechanics killer sided when it's survivors who can open the hatch with a key, or just jump in in front of the killer and they can't grab you. Although, I am curious if the cowboy can harpoon you while jumping in. That would be hilarious!

I'm trying to find the video. I believe tru3 did it yesterday. I don't think I imagined that. Can't recall if it broke the animation or the survivor was standing on it.

  • @csandman1977 said:

Most red ranks don't play too hard when I play nurse, they can tell I'm not too good at blinking (though sometimes I do surprisingly well..) and they run me around, and then I go for someone else while the slugged one gets healed. She's a fun killer to play. But yeah some survivors don't care and are just pains in the butt. But you can still practice using your power, best way to practice is using it against someone who knows how to dodge it.. someone running in a straight line is easy to catch.

Nurse gives me a headache. I don't like staring at my feet. I hate that cool down. It's the biggest detergent for me.

  • I go back and forth. Now I'm just learning to play other killers. It's probably not fun for red ranks to watch my green ass play spirit or nurse for the first time but we probably shouldn't be in the same lobby anyways.

  • It may sound callous but...

If your internet connection is bad enough you should get the boot. I've seen Dwights and Onis phase walk across maps due to poor internet.

If I'm killer and your connection is trash I will not let you get off that hook. If someone else is killer I will stand in front of a hook and AFK. It ruins the game for everyone.

I heard a rumor awhile back about destroying vaults and my first thought was why not lockers? They're plentiful enough and it's an action that would take up time so the killer won't be destroying every one they see.

Also thought of a synergy between destroying lockers and Iredescent Hatchet. She gets her hatchets but destroys the locker limiting her reserves but also reducing the number of hiding spots.

Then there was that one idea about Trapper getting explosives and rigging lockers. Destroyable lockers would be kickass.

Edit: Oh and ripping survivors outta lockers would destroy them too. Adds an extra level to finding someone and prevents them from trying in the same place again.

I like the iridescent idea. It limits and forces killers to move almost like trapper and picking up his traps.

I imagine an animation where the door getting ripped off would be a bit more enjoyable to watch.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

They'd probably buff Myers to be able to rip lockers open to mori people while perma tier 3 tombstone....or at least that's my hope.

a killer being able to rip doors off of lockers (and ruin them) now that is an idea

  • Green ranks here.

Matchmaking is brutal lately. If I have to play most my games at in the red ranks and I see everyone armed with tool boxes and it's already not been another not so enjoyable day in DbD I might bail.

I've had more DC in the past week than ever. They don't like Franklin's or I messed up their locker stuns with iron maiden. They ruin the game for everyone. Some of them hang in the lobby to flame post game lol. I didn't even know that was possible till this week. It's crazy there is no penalty for that.

I'm not denying a SWF team has potential to be more effective than solo queue.

However, when you call a group of solo queuers SWF and use that as your excuse for losing, that's when I have a problem. It's literally just denial and they're opposed to improving because they think they're good enough already.

Any vs video game boils down to "git gud or git lost". You're competing after all.

Every video game has casual players which is what I consider myself to be. I don't view it as a competition or something I need to practice at to enjoy. Rank me to where ever that lands me. Rank does not define my enjoyment level as killer. Survivor is more enjoyable in the higher ranks.

Calling a solo queue an SWF team would be an excuse for losing. No argument here. But opposed to getting better? No. The entities displeasure hurt their ego. Take it as a compliment. You play well with others.

Git gud or git lost would never be applied to a videogame designed to generate revenue, especially this game. Case and point: ruin.

  • @AsePlayer said:

The amount of times I've been called a SWF while playing solo queue for just doing something even remotely skillful like a flashlight save is really appalling.

Is it really that hard to believe you've made a mistake and to adapt for the future when you lost as a top tier killer? (Not talking about the mid and low tier bois, you guys need some love).

Blaming SWF just seems to be a dumb blanket statement to validate yourself and every decision you made that match. (Especially when it was solo queue and you were a Nurse at green ranks lol).

Not saying Survivors don't do the same when they lose, but this happened to be my most recent experience on DbD.

Why are people so allergic to wanting to improve?

Preface: I play killer in the green ranks survivor in the purple.

I don't know if it's matter of not wanting to improve. A SWF team is immediately better than the spot they are ranked at, unless achieved through only SWF. I was a 6 survivor solo, before 10 min wait times. I imagine I would break into red if I squad up.

When I play killer I only want a decently matched game. Nobody is opposed to getting better I don't believe but even if you don't want to get better there should be a place for you in this community. This is a video game and the motto can't be "git gud or git lost".

Tldr; I want to have fun, not get rolled by a collective 6-8k hrs vs my 200hrs.

  • @UGWRayne said:

It seems like every time a killer complains they rework the game to help them...then the survivors complain and the game gets reworked again...why is no-one happy? I cant understand that. The only thing i complain about is either have a stronger wiggle or a smaller wiggle bar to break free cause it seems as soon as you're about to break free you get hooked. Or.... Separate the hooks more. The killer hooks 2 people and stands in between them and double camps. For the love of god diminish the hooks or spread them out more....how many flipping hooks do you need in the stage..not 20..maybe 8.

There's perks and offerings for that

  • Update from rank 10. Played my 2 games for the night almost all survivor were red rank. One purple sprinkled in.

    Game one : 1, 4, 3, 6

    Game two: 1, 3, 3, 5

1k due to suicide on the hook, lots of waves, lots of tea bags and flashlight clicks to remind me they are still teabagging lol. Not casual gaming.

We didn't bring in more than 2 items per game, this are my two regular 4 men SWF parties with whom we actually do something to aid the perception of Ruin Nerf and try to help more people to keep wanting to play killer more to help Queue times even by playing "easy mode" if we see you having real trouble, but come on... like this...?

What happened to the +-6 rank difference to the top rank in the party...? I mean, in one game the killer even had only 1 perk... But the rank difference is outrageous ain't it...? This are just two images out of 12 I took from playing yesterday and the day before:

I appreciate your post. I've been on the receiving end of this mismatchmaking lately.

People say ruin was a crutch perk and it would be good to remove those killers from the top ranks. I don't think anyone considered it would create a vacuum and unjustly suck green killers into the red ranks to compensate for their loss.

I don't know about anyone else but I like to casually play games not competitively. Getting your ass handed to you with 200 hrs under your belt by the 2k-hrs+ SWF teams is not fun. I'll play 3 in a row like that and call it a night to come back in a day or two.

No I don't want to git gud, I just want to be matched with similar skill level players.

Only been playing for a few months, but one of the things I'd love to see is new game modes of varying levels of seriousness. It's one of the things I miss about free-range, moddable PC games.

So let's propose some hypothetical Serious and SRS! game modes. I'll start.

    Serious: 2 Killers, 6 Survivors, 9 Gens.

What it says on the tin. Just a bigger game, with more people. KInda just trying to make it as chaotic and overwhelming for everyone as possible. Could be fun, could be garbage. Who knows?

Super Duper SRS: Kill the Killer

Killer has a gate key. They have no red stain or TR, but the Survivors now do.

Survivors can hurt the killer (maybe like, 0.33 health states per hit?). Survivors have to kill the killer and perform a banishing ritual to get their key, only then can they escape.

Drop your own ideas, let's have fun with it.

I like the dual killer idea. Not sure about the gen and survivor count to make it fun for all parties though. It would be cool even if it were just a Kill your friends mode.

Also in Kill your friends it'd be cool to manipulate game mechanics. For instance: gen speed, foot speed, hooks till death, DK mode lol etc.

Apparently it doesn't matter. We shouldn't complain no matter what, right?

By all means complain. I just don't think that you have looked at this argument from both sides. If you had, I think the key would be arguably less fair/balanced.

I personally like it the way that it is, both mori and keys, and would not like a nerf to either. It adds an element of unpredictability. I think more killer offerings should be secret in enhance that unpredictability. I'm not sure if I would go as far to say hiding survivor items would be good for the game but it would keep killers on their toes.

I'm not saying your complaint and grief is baseless only saying that I believe the game balances it out in so many other ways.

I can sympathize with you on this: Matchmaking times are horrendous for survivor right now and it would suck to get one hooked.

    Games can change.

If you want people to just not complain about anything annoying to them, let's go back to beta DBD where Survivors were actual Gods with double window shack, tons of infinites, double the pallets, insta blinds, instant self care, etc. No complaining right?

A rarity that may make a game unwinnable vs a common occurrence that may make the game unwinnable...

    Not exactly a like comparison.

  • People talk about mori deaths like they are staggering. I see 1/50 games as a survivor. I see keys in every 1/10 games as a killer. They both exist, you know they exist so... you know... deal with it.

Stop with the NERF everything that made me butthurt last game. Just deal with it and find another match. It beats dying on a hook as far as I'm concerned. I only use them if it's in my daily or your name is something.TTV and you have pink hair with a flashlight. You were asking for it.

  • Skill checks were significantly harder on Xbox. Ruin skill checks were impossible to hit. I understand why it caused headaches for new players on Xbox. I used to just call the game a loss when I saw it used and just run around. PC players don't have that excuse. I play PC now with a controller from time to time and skill checks are harder as well.

More wraith, trapper and doctor (free on Xbox). Few DLC killers in my brown to green experience for the few months on there.

Matchmaking times on Xbox for killer were 10 minutes as well. Never played killer much until moving to PC. I play wherever matchmaking times are the shortest.

And every time I rebuke them with something like "I saw no one with BBQ so I knew they where all close." They DC, or call me trash again and DC.

Honestly just here to vent, I've stopped having fun in my matches and don't know where to go from here. There used to be an ######### once in a blue moon, mostly was nice folk. Now it just seems like I've entered the cesspool. I feel like I've finally seen what people mean when they say that DBD has a toxic community.

Also, take a break. De-rank at the turning of the month and then see how you feel. I have never played another game with so much salt and bitter behavior.

DbD community is like the 4-chan of gaming communities.

  • In the same ballpark with ghostface. Purple/green.

Just tonight. Running BBQ w/GF. All the gens done, 1k and throw 1 on the hook. With BBQ I see the 2 remaining survivors 99ing the both doors and dancing around them. I Mark both of them and they just run back and forth trying to bait me half way across the map. The only reason I can see them is because of GF's stalk. Eventually the hook guy dies.

Post game "reported camper blah blah blah you're trash you'll never be a high rank". I'm human. Sometimes I forget the excerpt in "The survivors rulebook for killers" about hooking someone and then facing the corner on the other side of the map.

I just laugh at them and sometimes I get mad, still human. I'm not playing by their made up rules so all three can teabag at the exit. I'm not playing in a style that is advantageous to my opponent and neither should you. I tell them next time bring BT like a good teammate and we can play trading hooks in the EGC. (Myers or GF for the one shot).

sure. if you like people roasting you in post match whether you get to end game or not.

    This.

Ive seen alot of killers get flamed post game but who cares. There's no post game flame for DS and BT. But from a solo survivor standpoint: you know it's there, you know it's a possibility so just expect it. It's like when you have to wait 60 seconds to pick up a survivor. Respect the perk.

It's good against SWF. They'll refuse to leave a man behind and you'll just play trading hooks until they cleanse it. Solo survivors just leave the odd man out.

    Run it.

  • and in all fairness... there is way more survivor side DC when the game isn't handed to you than there are lobby dodges in my experience.

example: we brought 4 flashlights and you brought Franklin's and lightborn. It happens regularly.

  • Full disclosure: green rank killer / purple survivor solo. Around 150 hrs.

I used to lobby doge when all the Nea's have pink hair and are named toxicTTV. I once read in a data analytics class that 9/10 DbD survivor mains with pink hair will be really annoying to play with. Now I completely ignore them if they start running their game in mine. They can play gen simulator without me or just moonwalk in tandem with me. It's not fun to chase someone to the safest points of the map and watch them tea bag/taunt wave/point. So I'll act like they don't exist so their streams remain super exciting.

People should consider that you are playing against a real person and if you're only enjoyment hinged on someone else's strife then you are just an a-hole.

After ignoring them my matches have been more enjoyable just playing against the people who want to play the game rather than try to make someone else miserable. I usually get 1-2k in a game of trading hooks at the end but I'm not playing their game.

Toolboxes and carry-ons don't bother me unless it's 4 toolboxes carrying toolboxes. But You're not getting past TSA with that contraband. I work the gates. Look for me. Names Franklin.

TLDR; Don't try to ruin someone else's game then cry about the lobby dodge. Shame the survivors who do like you would a face camper.

We need to start playing the survivors at their own game, complaining until we get what we want. We need to stop being the silent majority and be the loud majority. We need to spam the devs, the forums, and the YouTube page and since it works for the survivors, they might listen.

It's a 1 vs 4 game. Killer literally cannot be the majority lol.

But yeah I agree, new ruin is a solid late game perk.

  • "That is a total violation of the purpose of marking."

"It's shameful. As a killer main, there IS a code of ethics. It's basic sportsmanship."

    "I'm DISGUSTED"

It sounds like you would like to speak to Ghostface's manager.

  • I play solo and after they way match making has been I just started using object of obsession with soul survivor, left behind and whatever the flavor of the day is. It eats up 3 perks but I consistently get ranked with 16+. I glance at the killer to see what my potato team mates are doing. I never focus on them for more than a second. It's really for end game because they'll be dead and when I finish my 3rd the gen.

Never to taunt but if I'm in the green or purple ranks it gets old handing over 4k during the after school hours game after game. So it's that build, play killer or wait until the evening hours.

TLDR; Solid build for solo survivors tired of bad match making:

Object of obsession, sole survivor, left behind and whatever. Just don't look too long.
