The way to beat any killer with any addons is to play survivor and not be bad at the game. Survivors are unbelievably op, so it's quite literally impossible to lose.

Just like the way to beat any SWF is to not be bad at the game?

Killers are much stronger than most like to admit, making most game an easy win for them

  • @Veinslay said:

A bunch of killer mains on these forums can 12 hook comp teams with Clown no add ons without gen regression. They also never get slapped with Dead Hard, they wait it out every time. Any killer that ever tunnels needs to git gud!!

You're taking it to the extreme, and I'm not going to point out the obvious.

Dead Hard really isn't that hard to deal with, if I'd have to guess I see maybe 1 out of 5 DH's land as killer.

Also losing really isn't that big of a deal, games last roughly 10-15 minutes. There is nothing stopping you from simply moving onto the next. No one is meant to win every game no matter how good you are, and if you do then that shows true imbalance.

That might suck for killers since if you favor a particular killer then you'll be playing a lot of the same map.

Doesn't suck as much as getting an indoor map 3 times in a row and then swamp as Huntress

Map pool could also rotate say every mid chapter to keep things fresh

  • You cant necessarily do this without completely ruining the identity of certain maps tho. Its basically impossible to make a killer like Billy have the same performance on Lery's and Wreckers Yard.

What needs to be done instead is have every killer have a certain realm pool. This way a killer like Billy would never have to worry about going to Lery's, RPD, etc. If a map offering is played, and the killer doesnt have that realm in their pool, the offering gets rejected.

This would make every killers performance become WAY more consistent, making statistics much more accurate and would also be a great change in terms of how it feels to play a certain killer.

I dont get the complaints around slugging. Slugging is a worse strategy than just hooking survs, unless you have a build around slugging. I usually slug as killer if I think I can get another hit/down before the downed person is picked up.

This is also dependent on the killer played

A killer like Oni or Dredge benefit A LOT more from slugging since they can get more value out of their power

  • Cant really say for Survivor, but for killer its 8 stages or higher

  • Played Dredge last night, didnt notice a difference

  • Its neither killer or survivor sided.

There are several factors that have to be considered before you can give a definitive answer

  • yknow if they added map pools for every killer... an issue like this wouldnt happen

    wink wink

  • I haven't had this notification in forever

    strange

  • "Why does everyone hate him from a survivor standpoint?"

You were pretty on the nose at the end at that paragraph, and its simply because his power is just annoying to go against. He's other oppressive in certain areas where he's guaranteed to get a hit/down, or powerless. Him being extremely map dependent as well adds to the annoyance, since the same applies.

"From a killer’s perspective, why do you hate him?"

I can't necessarily answer this since he's one of my mains, but I think it boils down to a few things. Firstly, he's not the strongest, and his power is surprisingly difficult to use. Secondly, he might as well not even be playable on controller, the fact that he has recoil just makes the gap between M&K and Roller even bigger and just makes him feel awful on Roller. Thirdly his aesthetic. Because some believe that every killer needs to look dark, gritty, menacing and scary, I think their last pick is going to be the guy in a neon yellow jacket who wields a baseball bat that sounds like a light saber.

"Why is he being compared to huntress?"

Its as simple as they're both ranged killers. I can understand why people compare them, but its like comparing a Rifle to an SMG. They have their advantages and disadvantages, just depends on the range you use them in. As for people saying they should reduce his knives to the same amount as Huntress'... I've never heard this and frankly thats the dumbest thing I've heard all week.

"Final Question: What are your personal opinions on him and if you could rework his power to be more of your liking, what would it be? (there are no wrong answers so be nice!)"

I actually wrote a Trickster rework a little more than a year ago, have yourself a read:

Which means that's a problem with new perks being too strong. I think it's good idea to make most of the perks about as strong/viable as other perks. Like why is there territorial imperative when there are all the other info perks that give consistently more value (even in specific build)? You can outright delete those bad perks. Or you can buff them to actually make them valuable (at least conditionally). At minimum let the aura linger for like "very long time".

Which is a problem with power creep which the game already suffers from a bit.

I agree that those weaker perks should be buffed tho, but its an easier and quicker task to nerf the ones that are overtuned.

  • @Cleverotter said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3394247#Comment_3394247

My idea isn’t to make every perk broken, it’s to make them all about equal (at about B or A tier).

That isn't necessarily possible considering that some of those buffed/reworked perks would still be better than others. Doing so would on average make the average perk better. A current A tier perk that remains untouched would eventually become obsolete and fall down the tier list because more and more perks would be taking its place.

This is already something thats happened in the past with 2 perks which used to be meta and are now barely seen, A Nurse's Calling and Whispers. They never even got changed, (except for Nurse's, but it still remained meta even after the nerf) its just that more and more information perks got added which were stronger than these 2. Eventually they just became obsolete and are now considered about B tier perks, when they used to be S tier.

No she didn’t. I checked the endgame result and she had a green add-on with it. And the fact that you don’t even know this already says enough that the devs don’t play their own game..

First, it was never an exploit

Second, Torn Bookmark and Jenner's Last Breath could give up to 7 Blinks on PTB

Third, dont go around saying "the devs dont play their own game" when you yourself are too ignorant to read what the add on does and just assume its an exploit. You yourself even mentioned "she can blink 4-5x". That 5th Blink is only possible if she has Torn Bookmark, which is exactly why Mandy mentioned it.

And lastly, the add on isnt even that good in chase and is very predictable. Youd know this if you actually read what it does

  • Thing is there are lots of perks considered good, but theres no point in running them because the meta is just that strong

If they were to buff weak perks to compete with the current meta, then the game would suffer from powercreep. And as some one who plays For Honor, you do NOT want a game to suffer from that

  • Yeah youre right

    Do it.

A group ganging up and making fun of an individual falls under bullying in my book.

And that's what full hook denial groups are. They don't want to escape, they want as much "interaction" as possible with the killer. Only that this "interaction" comes at the cost of frustration and anger of the solo individual.

But i know you won't agree with me so don't bother to explain to me why you think different.

I have been bullied by halve my class through elementary and middle school so i know exactly how it feels FOR ME. And those groups aren't much different. Only the visual let's most people distance themselves from it.

Oh I was bullied up until early highschool and theres nothing in DbD that compares to that, but my experiences were much more on a personal level thanks to things I have no control over.

When it comes to "bullying" online, I start considering it when it starts going outside the game where they specifically go out of their way to mock or harass you. Pressing CTRL and taking advantage of game mechanics isnt bullying. They arent doing it because youre you, theyre doing it because you just so happen to be on the opposing side

Its like saying a guy who talks ######### in a sports game is a bully. Is it fun to deal with some one like that? Absolutely not, but its nothing personal.

Talking about a bad example, that's not bullying but straight up assault. Bullying is way more than just physical violence.

Im well aware its a bad example, in my defense I couldn't come up with anything better at the time and even now I dont know how to say that pressing Control repeatedly and using perks in a video game aint bullying

I would gladly trade with you. Maybe it is a time of night thing, since I play on average from 1AM to 5AM, but yes.... I get one about every four hours or so.

So I 100% don't buy the whole "This is a small minority!" argument.

"one every 4 hours or so"

"So I 100% don't buy the whole "This is a small minority!" argument."

Thanks for this, tells me a lot. Enjoy the rest of your day/night

I was quoting the game in question I played last night. The point is, only the person on the gen was doing the objective. The other three were not "engaging a strategy", they were screwing around. In games were all four of them are doing it (and yes, I've seen plenty of those games, too), then no one is further any objective.

All I am seeing is you reaching really hard to justify playing as dirty as possible in ways that aren't even the objective.

You're reaching just as hard by trying to justify why people using perks in a video game is equivalent of getting punched and then getting kicked down on the ground. Its generic in game BM its nothing special

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3393232#Comment_3393232

This would be true if said objective is actually taking place. A killer that forces a hook state is factually doing his objective. The bully squad might be, if someone actually on a gen is doing something. And in either case, they aren't doing it for the objective. Everyone knows the gen rush is better, faster, and more efficient. This is just more misery inducing, and that is the point.

I mean in what you said earlier you said there is a Survivor doing a gen:

"2.) I count people that do tactics like "The two of us will coordinate Head On stuns around Shack, and Dave will be right behind us with a flashlight. We'll just have one person do gens"."

Yes there are more effective strategies out there, but its still a strategy.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3392236#Comment_3392236

    FALSE.

It is not "just as strategy" because the Killer is actually doing his objective. This is a false equivalency because you don't power exit gates with stuns.

But stopping the killer from doing their objective also aids them in doing their own by buying them more time.

So yes it is a strategy whether you like it or not

do you realize that 4 is less than 12? new pain res is, generously, 80% less effective than the old pain res. it was a nerf and it was intentionally butchered to prevent killers from having any gen regression options. killers will be completely destroyed by these changes.

Oh its without a doubt weaker, but not by much. To surpass the amount of gen regression it will now provide with the current Pain Res, you need 7 hooks. So if you actually use the perk like you're meant to which is spreading hooks, you will benefit from it more and it will have more of an impact at times where it counts.

Also I've been doing just fine without Pain Res, medkits and DH are also still getting nerfed which were without a doubt more impactful than Pain Res. Killers have survived worst than this.

  • @Coffeecrashing said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3392391#Comment_3392391

The killer un-nerfs were absolutely useless to me. Pain res is still unusable trash, and Billy is still an obsolete Blight and still isn't worth playing.

DH got an un-nerf, because the original PTB version was a lot worse for survivors, because it meant that people that equipped dead hard wouldn't always be able to use dead hard, if they couldn't get any safe unhooks. The current version gives 2 free dead hards to every survivor that equips dead hard.

Pain Res unusable trash? What? You do realize just how much 25% is right? The perk it self is literally worth an entire Generator worth of progress and there's nothing stopping you from saving it later in the game thanks to it being a Scourge Hook

Billy being "an obsolete Blight" is still a bit true but it is definitely a step in the right direction

DH 100% got weaker, it is worst than OTR in basically every single way

Youre still not helping your case lmao

I cannot agree for one second that the game is perfectly balanced, especially at higher levels. But clearly our opinions are different and that's ok.

    Never said it was

Its just a lot more balanced than people give it credit

  • @DangerScouse said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3392629#Comment_3392629

In my experience and what I've seen, when survivors and killers are at similar levels, it's mostly a survior win. Hence why balancing is so poor at the higher levels.

Gen speeds are still really quick, and chases are not incentivised due to strong loops, pallets etc.

Its mostly 50/50 at the top level, which is shown pretty well in tournaments

'Oh but that doesnt count since there are so many restrictions!!'

there was a tournament held roughly a year and a half ago where there was 0 restrictions and the only thing that was pre determined was the map. The average killrate was 2.16 and one of the many games that was a 4k was actually from Artist who was the most recent killer at the time.

This game aint perfectly balanced, but its still a lot closer than most people think

  • @DangerScouse said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3392598#Comment_3392598

Ideally killers wouldn't "need" so much gen defence but that is where we are.

We really arent considering just how bad matchmaking is. Most killers I dont even have a single gen regression perk and go against several thousand hour Survivors very consistently and still do very well. Most games I lose I make LOTS of mistakes, such as missing shots, making bad calls, commiting too long to a chase, etc.

Now when it comes to going against a full team with the same amount of hours as I do, its MUCH harder to pull that off but still very much possible. (5.5k hours if you're curious)

  • @DangerScouse said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3392391#Comment_3392391

Thanks for clarifying. Yeah, my main worry is the overall nerf to gen defence. The one area that needs a buff id say. But let's see how the game plays once it goes live.

Idealy gen defense wouldnt be the strongest perks out there since they wouldnt be as necessary on some killers

Would allow for much more creativity in builds

  • @DangerScouse said:

Have I understood this correctly? Healing nerfs (or some of them) reversed, but killer nerfs stay?

So overall killers will still be worse off again after the update. Please tell me the DH nerf stays!

Some of the killer nerfs were reverted as well, and they didnt completely revert the healing changes. The way they did it I think was actually really smart, making altruistic healing unchanged but nerfing self healing.

DH also got nerfed even further by only activating upon being unhooked

  • @Mandy said:

    1.) Yes, it IS.

2.) I count people that do tactics like "The two of us will coordinate Head On stuns around Shack, and Dave will be right behind us with a flashlight. We'll just have one person do gens".

3.) That specific breed isn't playing the game normally, they are playing the game to troll. That's the difference. That crew is not trying to get four unhooks in one game or coop heal four survivors.

    1) It is, but even then a small chunk of that "specific breed" are a VERY small chunk

    2) Thats literally just a strategy. Its like saying a killer who tunnels and camps is simply doing it to piss people off and is a bully.

    3) See point 2.

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3392171#Comment_3392171

    A lot wrong here.

1.) I never said all Survivors. I called out a specific breed of them.

2.) It's not a small minority if I encounter them every night. And I don't play at high MMR.

3.) No, actually I can't play against bots because bots don't earn BP or clear challenges. To me the human element is irrelevant, I want the full scope of the game.

    1) That specific "breed" (assuming youre talking about those with over 2k hours) is a sizeable chunk of the community

    2) It is a VERY small amount, unless you count every one who brings a flashlight, head on, dead hard or says "gg ez" in chat. In that case thats a you problem

    3) Same applies to that "specific breed" you mentioned before

  • @Sally_S_gay_son said:

oh wow what a perfect example of whiny entitled killer mains in one thread

    where to even start...

first of all genrushing just means that the killer is not competent enough to do their objective which slows down gens, I am sure we all know survivors objective is to do gens and killer's objective is to hook them and eventually get them out of the game if the killer is not doing that successfully survivors have more than enough time to finish all the gens fast

even a 4 man swf squad with 4 bnps and hyperfocuses cannot finish all the gens fast if you are just as good or better than them and are able to down them in time, so instead of improving and learning from every game you play what could have been done better it's easier to just blame it all on other players who are literally just doing their objective, it's okay to lose and be worse, like no one's life is on the line.

and second, using head-on, dead hard and flashlight is bullying now? LMAO If you actually feel bullied by pixels you have way bigger problems than DBD and its lack of balance

yeah sure we have streamers and 12 year old kids who want to ''bully'' but you can either just kill them in match by being better player and have that form of satisfaction or just be mature enough to realize this is a video game and you will always have the next match to go where you might have better time. If you are a grown adult getting this bothered by a video game that is soo bad I am sorry, like maybe do not play dbd or pvp games where you have to interact with other people?

    You're on the right track

But that was a terrible example

  • @GensByDaylight said:

No, most survivors wouldn't play if the killer is an NPC.

Most of their fun comes from mocking and harrassing another person. If they're doing it to an AI, they'll just go play minecraft or something. That's why survivors get so pissed when they lose and gloat when they win. Its not fun for them unless they make someone else not have fun.

Edit: By survivors I mostly mean SWF

Even the edit makes this wrong

  • @WesCravenFan said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3391882#Comment_3391882

You said the quiet part out loud.

They don't want to admit it out loud, but a big portion of the high-hours DBD community (2K+) play it to induce misery. They are "bored of holding M1 on a gen", and they -

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3391810#Comment_3391810

... adopt this mentality. Then they bring Flashlights, Dead Hard, Head-On, and try to be as horrible as possible. If the killer was a bot, that sucks all the joy out of it. This is why the term "bully squad" is accurate. When you come into the game trying to have fun at the expense of someone else, you are totally bullying and you tell on yourself when you say you won't play against a bot. Oh sure, some people will hide behind "Well, I want the difficulty of playing against a human opponent", but you can easily make a bot ten times harder than any human. If you "just wanted to try out a fun build", you don't need a human to do that. But THEY do. They want to frustrate, they want to upset, and then they want to teabag in the exit gates and leave messages in the end game chat.

This is why I do not play in, nor do I want to play in, high MMR games. There's no reward, and the percentage of matches with these sorts go up.

Alright so let me get this out of the way first. Are there people who play the game simply to make the other side miserable? Absolutely, but they are without a doubt a VERY small but loud minority. Now that the obvious is out of the way, let me explain how wrong this whole thing is.

As some one with over 5.5k hours, who plays roughly a 80/20 split in favor of killer, and whos favorite aspect of Survivor is the chase. I just simply like the competition of competing against another person. I could give less of a ######### if their ego is so fragile that they get that offended that they got beat in a silly little video game. This doesnt go for DbD either, whether its For Honor, Overwatch, or Minecraft. I just want to outplay my opponent in a way that I enjoy playing.

Survivors arent these absolutely foul people you love to make them out to be, theyre the same people you see walking around on the side of the street or sitting on the bus.

Like I seriously dont understand why DbD tries to victimize and villainize its own community. Its seriously not that deep, people will be people and try to rub it in when they come out on top. Doesnt matter what it is, as long as theres competition there will always be banter.

Now if you TRULY believe that Survivors are just these little demons who are simply out there to get you. Nothing is stopping you from playing against bots.

  • So my dumbass never noticed the "Desktop Site" option, dont know how it got turned on in the first place but its all good now

I never said you couldn't do fine without it. I even said it's not necessary against most players. I specifically said very good high mmr games. Have you watched comp matches for example? There's a reason all they do is tunnel/camp each person to death.

First, high MMR doesnt exist the way you think it does

Second, comp players tunnel the moment they go in because its the safest option to score the most points. They arent competing against a team of Survivors, they compete against another team period. If a team is ahead in points (or close) theres no reason to try to go for fresh hooks which net the most points

Far from necessary against bad players (which is most). Far necessary against actually good players at high mmr.

    Really isnt, but mmk

  • Them spawning on a gen is really negligible, whether you get there and a gen is at 45% or 50% really doesnt matter nor will it make much of a difference

what DOES matter are Survivors spawning all split up.

1 … 61 62 63 64 65 … 147
