It IS mandatory if you expect to get far. There are a dozen perks off the top of my head that are required to combat different survivor setups in red ranks, spread out on a half dozen killers. Same can be said as survivor, unless you just want the basic 'DS/DH/BT/IW.'
Besides, it's easy to say 'it's not mandatory' when you've already put in a thousand hours or so and unlocked a majority of perks. Starting out, it's completely over the top.

I'm eager to see how Hysteria works on my Plague.

And yet those maps still appear like once every few days, and we're all still alive.
True, but it doesn't make them enjoyable to play on. I've only played on the new map once this morning, before they shut it down, and while it looks good, I didn't enjoy it. It's a labyrinth. I honestly feel it should have been split in two.
-
I've been getting them. Worse is the rubberbanding. In chases, every step forward is two steps back.
-
You remember the uproar with Midwich and The Game? Devs haven't touched them. They aren't going to touch this map.

people are putting him in b to low a tier idk what your talking about
No way he's A tier. B at best. Nem is just a watered down version of Pyramid Head.
-
They are. Mine keep finding some stupid rock to stand by, and do nothing for half the match. I have yet to get one indoor map, where I assume they would be better. On outdoor maps, they're useless.
-
A miracle.
-
Optimizing doesn't bring them in any immediate cash, so of course they won't do it.

He's a weaker version of PH.

Did they really? thats pathetic as hell, pitiful even, also good job on getting it first try.
Nah, exaggeration. You know how survivors will scream to high heaven over the survivor rule book, and claim you broke every tenant in it if you win. Just feels nice to actually do everything they cry about, and get something from it. It dealt with a lot of slugging. I mean a LOT of slugging.

Probably to offset the fact that you gain mutation by whipping contaminated survivors now.
That sounded dirty.
-
I did it on my first try, ONLY because I played like a complete douche. Gotta admit, though, felt rather good. All those times the last week when I was blamed for Hitler, Covid, and Kinder Eggs being illegal by survivors, now I gave them something to cry about.

I'm going to completely disagree with this, there's a lot of bug fixes in that patch.
And yes the DLC is of course going to be the main focus so there's a lot surrounding that - as of course there should be at a new Chapter patch.
There's a lot of trivial bug fixes. Again, nothing of any real substance here. A rock in Ormand made a pallet unsafe. Lighting on crows was fixed. Clipping cosmetics. Any other game, that would be patched in two minutes and moved on. DbD, it takes them months to get around to it.
-
I can't even get into a match. Keep getting booted while it's loading. But the lobby ping indicator is always in the yellow. So, seems to be a server issue.
-
She shouldn't be able to stand still and you have to guess what she's doing. Just let her white noise play out when she's phasing, even if the husk is nearby. Additionally, I'd let her husk phase behind her every few meters, so you know her general location.

The first time I played twins since their nerf, the first time I switched to Victor my camera messed up so I was locked into Victor forever, during his idol animations. And literally the only options I had were let the match play out, or dc. I have another discussion with the video of what it looked like. Really killed the mood for me and made me not want to play.
Very next game I wasn't even able to switch to Victor. I was stuck playing as Charlotte the entire time.
This just reminds me of an old experience with Plague. Was pallet stunned early in the match, and was locked in a T pose for the remainder of it. Would have been amusing, if the survivors weren't the standard toxic garbage and spent a half hour tea bagging.

I would add: Don't worry about whether your opponents are having fun or not, unless you are having fun too. You as the killer are not responsible for it and the opponent doesn't pay attention to it either. Don't let salty messages and endchat get you down or disable them. Play the way you want, not the way they want. The game was designed that way, even if other players have a wrong expectation.
Pretty much this. At the end of the day, these are strangers who you'll never meet or interact with on any meaningful level beyond this game. All that matters is what you get out of it.
-
They need a rework. Every counter in the survivor handbook was crafted into their current kit. Camping/slugging is all they can do at higher levels, because of their inherent weaknesses.
-
Where are all these Twins posts coming from? It's a dead killer that nobody plays, yet suddenly it's a dozen posts today about it.

Seriously. If they don’t gather data, they can’t determine if the system will ever work and what needs changing. This game is far more complicated to matchmake than an FPS like COD or whatever. Anyone with half a brain knows that balancing this game is a massively difficult problem. 2 days of data won’t hurt anyone. Just saying.
You do realize that this is the THIRD test, right? Additionally, the MMR system has been gathering data in the background for nearly a year now, and the test still is the same crap shot as the previous two. I have yet to see a difference.
-
Revert Victor's last nerf. Give Charlotte something when Victor is in play. As said, additional movement speed would be nice. With zombie ai coming to the game, I'd actually give pathing to Charlotte, so she would follow a set distance behind Victor. That way, she's always nearby when something happens, instead of half a map away. Allow Victor to be summoned at will.
-
See, I don't get this. The killer MMR is based on each killer, right? I rarely play Trapper. Shouldn't his MMR be lower, and pair with equally lower survivors? Yet, the last four matches where I've been trying to complete his daily, I'm going against sweat squads. Not true sweat squads, sure, but with my inexperience with him, it feels like it.
-
O, I love me some F.E.A.R. Alma would be a great addition, but how would you constrain her ocean of abilities into just one to use ingame?
If she is introduced, though, her map better have a ladder where I can shimmer above a survivor climbing down, though. . . .
-
'Should SWF be barred from using certain perks?' Yes.
-
No, otherwise it would increase dodging. SWF itself is fine. Nobody should be punished for playing with their friends. It's how it's implemented into the game that is the issue, and that's entirely on the devs incompetence, and failure to do anything about it.
However, you should be able to see who was in a SWF in the post game lobby. That way I can know if I was stomped by a crutch, or by some really good solos that I can respect.
-
A few. As survivor, it's when I loop the killer for a period of time, get hooked, only to find my team doing nothing. No thank you.
As killer, it's either
a) a sweaty survivor team when I don't want to sweat. Three gens done in two minutes, map rng chains tiles for optimal looping, comms. Sometimes I just want to chill.
b) server cucks me. When auto aim makes me hit the trashcan three times in a row instead of the survivor whose neck I'm breathing down, or when I'm rubberbanding around the map, or the survivors are teleporting, well, no point in even trying.
-
Any character that makes me laugh, or I see is being shafted by their team.
As for any other character, if they brought Clementine from TWD into the game, she would get a free escape every time.

No sure if it's under the radar because other people have complained about it as well, but I almost always get waxxed on Gas Heaven.
Tough map for killers.
I still don't know why the devs think the Great Wall of Trash is necessary. If they wanted to keep it, redo the walls around the map as trash.
-
No. I make sure to smack every survivor equally to shut them up.
-
I don't think they are. Depends on the killer, though. Easier to defend a bad spot with trap killers. Or movement killers. Though I just feel Hex perks in general are a waste. Half are useless, the other half spawn in the open.
-
What's your build?
-
@TheClownIsKing Again, 110%. That's a really big deal with her. She can't chase. If survivors have an issue with the camera yank, then she'd have the same issue if she wasn't already adjusted.
Freddy and Demo are both 115%. She's 110%. Again, a very big deal.
I don't know why it's considered free, or easy. If they were, you'd see far more Hag players than there are now.
-
@AVoiceOfReason Isn't the camera yank dependent on proximity? If you hit the center, almost no yank, hit the edge, hard yank?
I personally wouldn't mind fine tuning it. Everything can be fine tuned. My issue with removing it is that split second a survivor requires to readjust their camera is where most hits come from. You take that split second away, and they've already gained several meters of W holding. Hag is only 110%. That's a big deal.
Or, and this is just off the top of my head, remove the camera yank, but give Hag a speed boost when teleporting, similar to Wraith uncloaking. Just a second or two, at best. Something to make up for the loss.
-
Plague. She's comforting to me.

All she needs is for her traps to not yank you towards them. That's about it. That's how she can get a hit. Oh, and make it so she can't spam traps around hooks XD
Then make her 115% chase. The camera grab and hook placement is all she can really do. Look at hook spawn. If you made a radius where she couldn't trap around hooks, you could effectively destroy her web in half a map, easily, due to hooks spawning in tiles she requires to control.
You hinder her method of control, then she needs to be able to chase.
Besides one flashlight disables her in anyway, just like toolboxes used to do to Trapper.

I do remember the problems with MMR and the dc system, and understand why these don't exactly instill much in the way of faith in this upcoming autoban feature with people
I suppose the thing which may work in BHVR's favour is their experience with issues in these systems and how much they learnt from it. Tru3Talent's hack ban he received whilst streaming was a big indicator of an issue, but recently I'm not aware of any hacks with this system. So if they are learning to perfect systems and succeeding in doing so, then it's possible they'll be more capable and wary when adding new features.
They could follow how Rainbow 6 Siege dealt with their autoban feature by having the feature initially pick up on issues, but the final decision was to be made manually. Currently, we have no information on what will be happening, but I believe they will be more cautious, especially knowing they'll have more people coming into the game.
Again, I'll reiterate: it's important to make them aware of concerns, but at the same time doomsaying (not saying you are by the way; I'm more refering to some of the reactions) isn't productive and it's best to wait until more information comes through to make a better assessment and press them with questions that arise thereafter.
I did say they 'may' fix the issues in the end. I don't doubt they can do such a thing, learning from past experience. The issue on hand, though, is actual banning. How many accounts may/will be banned before the devs shut the system down to work on it, and how many players will actually get their accounts back after the dust clears?
It's one thing to be banned for a few hours due to dcing, real or not, it's another to have longer, if not perma bans, because of a faulty system. That is what I'm afraid of. Some snotty swf that mass reports me for not letting them bully me, or a few of the new charm users that claim I did such and such because of their charms, or any other banning excuse that can be used; I'll get the ban, and then fall through the cracks when the devs attempt to fix the issue.
An auto ban system if ripe for abuse. The devs track record make it even scarier.
-
You could go a step further, and make T3 similar to PHs execution. If you down a survivor in T3 on death hook with the tentacle, you mori them and they become another zombie.
-
Why do killers get punished for survivors playing SWF with their comms?
Both sides can lose big time by trash plays on the other side. That's the nature of the game, and until something is implemented on either side, it's going to remain that way.
-
Day after day of constant 'tunnel/camping' posts, now suddenly it's 'they did the nasty because of my charm.' It has nothing to do with the charm, stop trying to make an issue out of a non issue simply because kindling has been thrown into the game.
-
I've only seen it via streamers, but it looks absolutely massive. Would be nice if they could tone it down a bit.
-
Remember MMR, and how bad both attempts were? Or the dc penalty system, and how many times it had to be disabled due to hacking? Or the current chat censor system?
Every time the devs input a system like this, it fails. Sure, they may fix the issues in the end, but how long does that take? How many players will be affected by the ban system, vs how many will get their accounts back due to bad reports?
-
Deathslinger. Huntress has range, and those long distance shots blow anything DS can do at short range out of the water. With DS, you can just pound out gens while he's in a chase, pre drop pallets, and there isn't much he can do. Huntress beats him out any day.
-
Okay.
-
When I just looped the killer for three minutes, only to be hooked and see my team doing squat, not one gen done or being worked on, well, you've already thrown the match. So, suicide it is.
-
Personally, I'd swap is T2 and 3 mutations. The range increase from T3 isn't all that great, but destroying pallets at range is. Seems like a bigger payoff.
-
Out of curiosity, just how many times do you face Spirit? I've only faced her once this past week. Wraith has had far more appearances, and he's weak compared to her.

I feel the urge to report survivors who leave me to be one hooked.

Who's Blight?
Seriously, I have not gone against a single Blight in weeks.
-
Quick and Quiet, Lithe, Dance With Me, Iron Will.
You are invisible! I usually swap Dance With Me for Inner Strength, as I want to be self sufficient, but those four together make chases so much fun, especially if you get to a TL wall and just disappear on the other side.
