Free downs with no effort in chase is bad design. No one wants a "guaranteed win". They want the ability to extend a chase by playing well. That doesn't mean indefinitely chasing, just chasing longer and helping their team. The opportunities to do that against SM are fleeting because her power is nearly always overwhelming in the chase, even when the killer is a relatively weak player. The killer should always have the advantage, but it should not be as easy as M2 to get very quick hits, especially when she has other benefits outside of chase.

You cannot reliably "microstop" on a typical connection to a DBD server and crouch walking in a chase is suicidal. You can't just "adapt" to that or "awareness" through it. It is a fundamental characteristic of her power. Once she finds you she will throw a drone and you need to leave the loop if possible. If not it's an easy hit that requires no skill on her part. That is it. Stealth is no longer a viable playstyle in DBD; you can't just avoid chase when he power plus a few dozen perks provide great tracking.

Bringing ideal perks for a given killer is luck, not counterplay.

Also, there are no "Free downs". It takes a good amount of time, you have to get scanned 3 times with immunity time in between, she has a cooldown between placements, and you can use her claw trap for distance same way A Survivor can use a Zombie attack. She will know where you are but you use it to get away instead of hugging the loop.
It takes TIME and she has to actively pressure you.

"Microstop" is not literal. I just use the word to describe stopping effectively and quickly, I have and consistently do it against plenty of Skull Merchants. Her dropping a Drone doesn't instantly make it a dead spot; you can effectively counter her and prolong for a shorter duration than normal depending on WHERE you are. That's why I said have AWARENESS.
It's like any other Killer that has a zoning or ranged ability. You need to be careful and mindful of your placement. Trickster, you need to avoid being out in the open. Huntress, tall walls and trees/obstacles. Dredge, use one lock out of the two and use your ears.
You can't just play every loop exactly the same way. That's how you go down.
Again, here I am explaining something that I am certain you know, you just don't want to accept it.
And you don't need "Ideal Perks", just rational ones since everyone and their mother refuses to do anything but run meta.
She is not "Overwhelming" in a chase if you effectively make use of your surroundings and your team is aware of her drone placements.
I have gone against and played as her countless times. And the majority of games are a 50-50 given that survivors actually play with the caution towards what they're up against.
Every killer has something you have to learn to counter.
It's not gonna be a walk in the park every time.

That is a huge oversimplification. You need to stop for more than an instant or the game could easily still count it. With two scan lines you would need to stop every ~3 seconds to avoid this, and even less if she's chasing you counterclockwise. If you stop for like a half second every three seconds to dodge the scan lines, that's no better than eating the hindered and continuing to run. She's still gaining a ton of distance either way, and you're not going to last long. Your only hope is that you can bail out to another nearby loop before she catches you. It's dirt simple for her to do and it's difficult to deal with. That's why it feels so bad to play against.

You use obstacles, fake outs, hold w, use the sprint from getting claw trapped, micro-stop, sudden Crouch walk for a second, stealth ahead of time, keep an eye on vantage points and have an exit strategy. Also. Perks. Tons that help in a plethora of situations, shockingly!!

There is no oversimplification, the discussion has been had over and over and over And I am sick of repeating myself to people who refuse to understand that sometimes you're gonna go down, not everything is a guaranteed win, your team greatly helps in scenarios with Skull Merchant the same way they do in Legion, Plague and a whole ######### ton of characters.

1 on 1 is going to be a challenge that you simply HAVE to accept as being exactly that.

EveryEveryone wants the solution to be easy. It isn't always easy. You need to adapt and play by the moment while also.being aware of your surroundings. Simple.

But I still suck it up and utilize what I know to counter him… …But then I get thrown into a game where people decide "this is boring" and give up, instead of taking a challenge head on and actually trying to learn HOW to counter a situation.

Hey. Guess what. I do the same.

For some reason people have gotten this idea in their head that if someone dislikes a Killer that they automatically "just go next" when in reality not everyone does that, if you went through my post history, youd know that I think people who do it are beyond cringe.

I even stated that I know how to counter her, and I find her to around average to weak in terms of strength, I said this in my original comment. I also hold the opinion that her power is boring and uninspired, and I hold this idea since I thought the Skull Merchant would be so much more than what they ended up being.

That's great, so just because you find a playstyle boring, that means that people who enjoy them just dont matter?

When 3-Gen Skull Merchant was a thing, people would use a similar argument to defend 3- Gen Skull Merchant. Funny thing is, there are people who did enjoy running in circles for literal hours just defending Generators, but that got removed, what about them...

Does a character having playstyles that people like quantify them remaining the same even if it is unhealthy for the general playerbase?

I liked Blight's Hug-Tech, I found it fun to use and fun to against, but it got removed… even though I liked it a lot. While I had the capacity to counter it, a majority of the playerbase did not… and while I still dislike that it is gone, I have the understand of WHY it was changed, and Ive come to accept it as it is.

DBD, at its core, is a casual game, BHVR is always going to cater to the casual audience, and if BHVR is seeing that they are struggling too much, they are going to changes things to address that.

Which brings me back to the question above. And I dont ask this to drag you down, moreso because I was insight into your stance, think of it as the modern DBD "Trolley Problem".

None of this is to say your opinions dont matter. Im just voicing my opinions, and regardless of what I say, it should not take away from your opinion. I implore all players to make their feelings known about the game, since being vocal can lead to positive change, if you love Skull Merchant's design, I encourage you to make Forums Posts and spread your opinion around about the PTB changes.

There is a MASSIVE difference between 3 Gen Skull Merchant and Blight Hug tech because one Massively Increased the game's Life by an inordinate amount and the other was an exploit that removed the Blight's intended weakness, making games usually much shorter.
Giving such an example does not award brownie points.
It was considerably more appropriate to either DC or give up in a 3 Gen game because it was massively unhealthy.
Blight's was less unhealthy but still very much an unintended feature that removed counterplay to a significant degree.
The current version of skull merchant has PLENTY of counterplay but people lose their minds because as I pointed out multiple times, The Character punishes poor team awareness as a whole similar to many other killers in DBD.
People just like having something to hate.
The changes are overkill. Anyone with a brain and overall ability to comprehend could easily look at them and see that.
They could've removed her ability to recall hacked drones and forced her to manually walk up and grab them.
They could've made Locked On Decay.
They could've massively reduced Claw Trap Timers.
They could've just did numbers reduction.
But instead they removed a feature, Halved her Hindered, and massively nerfed what is described as her "Chase" power to make it into a joke.
The character has to have SOME level of playability, and the concept they had created was "Mounting dangers" in the form of "The more scans the more lethal she gets".
They could just TELL US what they are planning for her rework. But instead they have opted to give Vague quotes like the one on Reddit.

    @IamFran said:

The problem of the devs is not providing the full information and instead providing it in random responses in Reddit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You can consider the current nerf a soft kill switch.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/X2D7396DY4T8/gxtyyrmw4aajlc9.jpeg

    It's just unbelievable.
I would prefer knowing because right now they have just made it known that the character is basically done.
PTB doesn;t mean it will go live, but the fact that it is so severe is reason enough to be worried because it completely neutralizes her.
You might as well be playing Clown, or Mastermind, or literally anyone else because her Chase is massively reduced and her Lack of Haste removes her ability to actually make efficieny out of pursuing someone who activates her Radar.
You could just play Aura reading Huntress for immediate damage. Or Dredge for better map presence. Or literally anyone else because her entire power will be so easy to counter in high MMR she will be clowned on.
And the hate train WANTS that because they're malding over a character that they have to plan accordingly against.

    @ays12151 said:

To be fair most of Skull Merchants players just summoned these changes. Shull Merchants players usually play with boring playstyle (usually 3 Gen) that requires almost zero skill and that's why people hate to play against her. After the Update Skull Merchant will need to rotate with her drone to acutally apply the effect on the Survivor. I know she is nerfed to the ground, BHVR can add some buffs for her, but with 1 Scan Line she is more skillfull to play as, right?

Many Killers use horrid tactics and take advantage of error in design. For example; your profile image has a very notorious and well-known playstyle shared with Trickster and Huntress.
And It doesn't matter that adjusting Rotation will be considered "Skill Expression" because it's ONE scan line that won't sweep nearly fast enough and has a long enough cooldown to see coming. All her incentives and actual lethality are nullified for the reasons listed in repeat above blah blah.
The entire change is quite literally gutting a character.

    And thank you.
I genuinely think a lot of problems in this game would get better treatment and proper balancing if people actually allowed the data to be what it is instead of yanking the chair from under their legs mid-match or just letting teammate01_ai replacements take the lead.

If they hadn’t kept nerfing the counter-play perks, survivors wouldn’t be so upset about the Skull Merchant. Perks like Deja Vu, Prove Thyself, Fast Track, Boon: Circle of Healing, Dead Hard, Iron Will, Decisive Strike, and Borrowed Time were all effective counters. It’s similar to when they gutted Spine Chill before releasing the Xenomorph, or how they released and buffed a ton of killer aura perks before deciding to nerf Distortion.

The constant upending of perks is a problem, I agree. I don't think perks should make or break a character, but the problem is that Survivors are just skin so they literally ARE their perks and thus do actually need to have solid designs and synergy to compare against perks + powers that Killers have.
And I also find all the Aura perks with the additional changes (Like Predator being an Aura perk in the new ptb) to be frustrating.
I play a great deal of solo queue myself, so I know that there is a lot to handle and deal with.
But perks can always be changed. They are gutting the core parts of Killer characters. I know a PTB is just a test, but the idea that this could completely disintegrate a character's ability to properly function against high level players is just miserable.

Literally dodging the argument. You’re deliberately avoiding the concept that solo queue is harmed because of how SM’s kit functions. You CAN learn counterplay to the drones, but it does not apply to anything outside of SWF. I’m not even trolling you, I literally just outlined a scenario where Skull Merchant’s haste is extremely flawed and is harmful since the “counterplay” is out of your control. I’m being critical of you refusing to explain the counterplay because THAT’S AN ARGUMENT.

Your ARGUMENT is based on something that EXISTS very much in MANY FORMS in the game.
Teammate lets Michael Stalk them and he gets Tier 3.
Teammate cleanses against Plague and gives her corrupt.
Teammates stick close and give Legion 4 stabs.
Teammates heal under hook and or clot together against Cannibal.
Teammates finish gens while Pig uses Jigsaw's Annotated Plan.
And it goes MILES AND MILES ON with PERKS AS WELL.
YOU are refusing to ACCEPT that sometimes your teammates will be a part of a CONSEQUENCE.

  • @Neaxolotl said:

What's funny is her being weak doesn't even stop survivors from leaving, because she already is never a problem for those who actually try

She punishes poor team decisions and lack of awareness on her drones. That's why so many people hate on her. They throw a tantrum when she gets a speed up from someone that made a mistake. But the same thing happens if someone cleanses against a plague, just in a different way.
Maybe people would be less likely to cry out in anguish if thet "Beyyooop" sound from her tracker was fully audible to the survivors, that way they get a heads up that she's faster.
But it's pointless. There's always going to be people that refuse to understand or learn new methods. They just want an easy game where the only thing that matters is being just outside of reach at all times.

Sounds like you don’t have an argument to her bad game design and you’re asking people to look up a Pixelbush video when you know for a fact her entire kit was designed to be detrimental to solo queue, somehow more so than Twins.

I'm sorry where is the actual discussion> Because I think I just told you that you should learn the counters. Nowhere did I direct you to pixelbush, who I find cloying, I told you to learn and accept that not everything is going to be a loop simulator. Gbye.

The problem is really the only thing she needed was for scans to decay eventually. Then she'd be less annoying and it wouldn't be that big of a nerf.

And THAT would be fine. Make her Hacked Drones unable to be recalled while we're at it.
That is a completely valid concept.

can you explain how to counterplay the solo queue teammate injuring themselves out of chase to a drone and then you, who is actually in chase, loses because the SM with the giga-haste build magically skates to your location ignoring most loops?

I JUST said, look it up to them. LOOK IT UP. I am not going to be the arbiter of "how to do x" to a buncha people who're on the Hate Train. I am not saying it again.

predropping and giving a free m1 when you are about to get scanned. you can't even clear your path to pre run because it's meaningless. what else? stop acting like this killer's gameplay and countering it is some superior ability. it's braindead dull gameplay with "counterplays" that is giving free hits or run for your life until she catches up with 10% hinder.

You very clearly only go by surface level attempts at "counterplay" because that is not nearly half of what you can do.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

I dont hate Skull Merchant because I dont know how to counter her. In fact, I think she is around B-tier in terms of strength (average or so) and has a lot of room for counterplay.

I just hate Skull Merchant because their power design is fundamentally boring considering the infinite well of concepts they could have done instead. In a similar light, it's also why I dislike Freddy. To me, a character's strength does not matter to me if I find them to be boring or have little to no depth to their gameplay.

And for me personally, I find it a shame, I really do. Skull Merchant was a character I wanted to like but I really cannot bring myself to like them in their current state, there is nothing I find interesting about playing as her or playing against her. </3

That's great, so just because you find a playstyle boring, that means the people who enjoy them just don't matter? I love playing as her and against her, but I hate my teammates for throwing a tantrum. I still do my best regardless because literally EVERYONE has characters they hate going against and need to learn how to deal with. I think Chucky is boring because he has anti-loop AND anti-transitional powers, but I still suck it up and utilize what I know to counter him. But then I get thrown into a game where people decide "This is boring" and give up, instead of taking a challenge head on and actually trying to learn HOW to counter a situation.

  • I am sick to death of repeating myself. I already made a list of counters in plenty of forums and so has everyone else. I just wrote in this discussion that the main issue with people is that they REFUSE to learn or read the counters. How about looking it up since you want to be cheeky and obtuse.

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

Skull Merchant is one of the few characters where I think their design is so bad that regardless of what BHVR does, they will always leave people disappointed.

    • If they cater to the people who like her, the killrates will only go up since more people will just give up. Her design is not fun to go against for most players.
    • If they cater to the people who dont like her, nobody will play her since she will get gutted and made awful.

I think they should pull a Freddy at this point and do a completely rework since she is just that poorly designed. I know BHVR said that they would never do something like that again but I genuinely think it would be for the best here.

No one has to cater. Survivors just need to actually learn how to use alternate playstyles. You can't go against every single killer in the game the exact same way. But so many survivors WANT it to be that way. The only time a Skull Merchant game has ever been truly frustrating for me is when my teammates DC and/or give up on hook, artificially increasing the difficulty ten-fold.
It's entitlement. Plan and simple. And it's incredibly annoying. It's just extra easy for everyone to jump on the SM hate-train because so many people refuse to learn her counters, accept that some hits are going to be unavoidable as with ALL killers, and finally they are still holding a grudge against the old chess merchant playstyle.

  • @himheart said:

I want everyone to stop playing her

the problem is no one wants to learn counterplay. They say that "its unfair" because you can't avoid the scan lines, when literally you stop mov9ng for an iota of a second. There's also the fact that plenty of killers get way more reliable and consistent usage of their power on a survivor yet Skull Merchant is somehow considered brainless and the worst.

Its ridiculous, people refuse to learn to adapt and instead try their hardest to just strong-arm every killer to be within the same range of "loop for eternity".

  • It's genuinely upsetting. The whole point of skull merchant was the survivors had to be careful about the mounting effects/consequences of not paying attention. Now they'll have nothing to worry about with a single line sluggishly grazing them because it won't give Skull Merchant incentive to chase (no haste to go to the scanned survivor or aid in a current chase) and the hindered is so miniscule you might as well play Clown or Mastermind.

Just because you don’t personally enjoy cosmetic visibility for other players and have a small group of people you know, doesn’t discredit the fact that there are people who have come into this game knowing their cosmetics will be visible and have purchased a cosmetic partly because of that. There would indeed be people who would want refunds and/or be less inclined to purchase cosmetics in the future, from a business stand point, it would be dumb.

It wouldn't effect other people in the slightest. No one is gonna be pressed just because someone can't see if they're base sable or sable with bat wings.
    It's goofy.
I want to have a base aesthetic because I like the consistency and look of it, I don't understand why that would be a problem in the slightest when anyone and everyone has the ability to see what they themself owns.
There's a Store for a reason. It shows you cosmetic options. You don't have to see it on another character in a game.

  • @RoastedGarlic said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3796464#Comment_3796464

You want to see cosmetics and the op here says they want to see the base skins. Why does what you want to see trump what they want to see when you don't see what they see. That is like you saying I can't use color blind mode because it ruins your immersion. That is incredibly self centered and selfish of you.

This option would also help lower end consoles and pcs performance with the ability to reduce overall texture and model load if there is multiple kates in the same game. instead of loading 4 different unique kates those consoles now only load 1. From a technical standpoint this could greatly boost performance for players using last gen consoles like the switch.

I hadn't thought of the performance boost! That's an equally great reasoning, if not more of a good reason^ Also, I appreciate your support, thank you.
I genuinely was think more of aesthetic but that's a very good point as well to bring up ^^

I'm not wrong am I? You could try not assuming the worst and you might enjoy interactions with others more, Cosmetics aren't going to hurt you, bm is a form of experession if you like it or not, it's just a game lol you do need to lighten up and realise that the cosmetics are fine, entire characters are locked behind them do you really think they'll just turn off the ability to see them?

They are what make this game so special, seeing how people dress up their characters etc. it's fun.

You still were very rude for no reason. And still are with your rhetorical question and oversimplification of what I'm talking about. You've changed the point of the discussion to paint me as being "hurt" by players. The only one being hurtful is you. It's highly unnecessary.
And "Assuming the worst" is not what I do. I just go about my business and play a match. However, you have quickly shown that you do indeed prefer having the ability to bm and even attempt to proselytize it as "Expression". ANd with that I disagree.

And as I said. Multiple times, it's fine for people to express themselves. I just would prefer if I could play the game with clarity and the main aesthetic based on the original base forms. Why is that wrong? It would effect no one but me.
My "perspective" is that I'd rather see characters as their base. I also think legendary characters would be fine since they have their own portraits. Since they are "Characters" not "Cosmetics".
It wouldn't effect you in the slightest. Except apparently even talking about it does. So I dunno what else to say to you.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

You are being aggressive assuming people are wanting emotes with bad intentions, stopping people from expressing themself with cosmetics is a terrible idea.

What you're saying makes no sense.
I am stating that bm is bm. If a survivor acts in a manner that is entailed to incite a player, that is Bm.
You're the one saying stuff like "Deal with it" and saying smug things like "try changing your perspective, it might help" with a full stop. It's just unnecessary. You can argue a point without being unpleasant.
And it would not stop people from expressing themself. It would allow the person who shuts off the cosmetics to "see" everyone as their base form. It wouldn't effect the the other players' view of themself or their charms.

  • @Booper36 said:

People like to show off their cosmetics to other players and I would say is at least a third of why people like to get cosmetics. I think everyone getting to combo aspects of their outfit and have some cool, fun or killer specific charms gives each player their own personality and make the game feel more alive. Taking that aspect away for some people because they're obsessed with immersion or the idea the have of the game being broken would be a real shame and not to mention unfair, as some cosmetics can technically be beneficial or be a hinderance to stealth, then people would be getting advantages by having the mode on or off and one mode might be more beneficial for people who are competitive and want the upper hand, people may use it depending on survivors outfits if it would be more advantageous with the mode turned on or off for the killer.

It's just a no go idea for me. I like going into a match knowing others will see my wacky outfit or my matching fit with my friend or my new rift outfit I've been grinding for, that aspect of the game shouldn't be taken away.

While yes, you can argue pay to win is acceptable, I prefer having consistent visuals and don't enjoy how some survivors becoem so altered they physically don;t resemble themselves.
You mention "Obsessed" with immersion, when really I just like the base aesthetic and would like an option to have that.
I don't think it's a problem if a survivor playing as Meg just looks like Meg.
And showing off shouldn't be a high point for why you have something, rather you enjoy it and have it for yourself.
Turning off those functions wouldn't remove the "abiulity to feel alive" for the person who sees and uses their own cosmetics in the slightest. They wouldn't even know. The idea is that the person who has it off sees that survivor/killer as their base form.

Deal with it, every other live service has it, it'd be fun to emote with people you don't always have to assume a t-bag is to bm you, sometimes its to catch someone like yourselves anger so you make mistakes.

Try changing your perspective, it might help

Okay, you don't have to be aggressive or strange. It's just a conversation.
And I don't think emotional manipulation is healthy in any case. BM is BM even if you try to handwave it as a tactic.

  • @Rokku_Rorru said:

It has nothing to do with censoring expression. You can do whatever you want and dress your character however you want. I just prefer not being blinded by a cosmetic's lightshow and having consistency with who I'm up against.
I also like the subdued aesthetic of most of the base cosmetics. there's no reason to take this as an "attack" on expression. It would be from your own perspective anyways. So I don't see why it's a problem.

  • @Lord_Kaine said:

An option like this would desentivise players from buying cosmetics, since there's no guarantee other players will see it.

Why should that matter? SHowing off cosmetics isn't the point. The point is you like what you got.

I don't even know why you're commenting on here if all you're gonna do is feign melodrama.
And this bug isn't just tied to Wraith, I've seen plenty of killers do it. It's just especially easy for Wraiths to do for some reason, and it's obnoxious. If "Stun" pops up on your screen and the Killer just oggles you out of an attack animation, there is clearly something wrong with the coding being cancelled.

    HOW is that right?

I didn't say it was right, I said it's not a hostage situation.

It IS a hostage situation because I have no AGENCY to do anything other than give up.

Again, that is not what a hostage situation is. Hostage means you do not have the ability to win or lose as a means to end the match, you have no choice but to disconnect to get out. I've been in actual hostage situations in the game, if I could have shoved myself onto a hook myself to get out of the match I would have.

You may think the definition of "hostage" is up for debate. It is not. The definition of words is important so people can understand each other in a conversation, and it's very important here because an actual hostage situation inside DbD is a reportable/bannable offense. The devs have specifically defined what "hostage situation" means, so it is imperative the phrase not be muddied because that causes confusion in players.

If I am being forced to choose the option of losing then I'd say it may as well be a hostage situation. You can holler all you want about definitions but that doesn't make it right for people to take advantage of a broken scenario and for someone to outright force a situation to become so stagnant. You may think the definition of hostage is not up for debate. It is, because I'm debating it, if two players are making a game unwinnable and creating a situation that leaves a Morton's fork, then it is a hostage situation. "Imperative not to muddy" when it literally is happening.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

If I am in a game with a lose lose situation because a teammate refuses to move and the killer refuses to remove the non-participant when they have a choice in order to force my hand then THEY are holding the game hostage.

A "lose lose situation" does not equal a hostage situation. The killer is trying to win by leaving the easy kill alone and going after the survivor(s) still playing, and you are trying to win by not getting caught. If both players are still playing to win, they are making a choice, it's not a hostage situation. Hostage means one player is not being allowed to play, not being given the ability to win or lose to end the match. You could end the game by forfeiting. You don't have to like that option, but it is your choice.

Just because you do not like the choices available to you does not mean you have no options.

It IS a hostage situation because I have no AGENCY to do anything other than give up. There is no "Tap and do gens" when you're on a map that has minimal surface area and your teammate has chosen to more or less become a statue. You say I have choice. It is not a choice, it is the only option and it disgusts me that I have to be at the beck and call of a Killer taking advantage of an angry teammate.
You literally said it yourself. There is no allowance for playing. I just have to give up and HOW is that right? It is boring and needs to be addressed.

  • Exactly. The Killer has the power to remove the problem but instead used them as a leverage chip. It's utterly despicable and unfair to expect me to just bend over and take it when the favor is stacked so far against me already.

  • @Rock_KBob said:

Omg! I thought it was just me! It doesnt seem to be a problem with the Were-Elk skin or Baba Yaga skin, but all skins using her typical lullaby remain as max distance volume despite how close she actually is.

It's truly frustrating because she's so incredibly close and it's not possible to know unless you have LOS.

  • This bug also kinda happens with chests. The character model finishes the stand up animation, but you can run away during it and the camera follows where you're running, but you're invisible. I have no idea if you're invisible from the Killer's perspective, but it almost looks like teleporting.

I agree with that too. Problem is, the game was made to keep the killer a secret until the match starts. It's a problematic situation all around. Even if they just allowed the killer's username to be shown, there's settings to hide your name with anonymity. Heck, that also answers your own question too. Cheaters will use anon mode to keep people from snooping their profiles as well.

I don't even want the Killer's username shown unless it's at the end as per usual. I just think that the profile information being available to Killers (And other survivors) is utterly unnecessary and promotes the wrong idea. There's leaning into a theme and going overboard.
Killers should only see the Survivors' models, what they are holding, and their ping.
Survivors should see the killer's ping next to a symbol representing the killer (The Knife with entity claws on the endgame screen).
Then, at the end of the game, all information is available. None of this weird pre-game profile checking crap.

  • @ChaosWam said:

I would normally agree, seeing what the survivor's time playing the game and everything can be a problem and low hour survivors are usually tunneled out while seeing high hour survivors means the killer might dodge.

HOWEVER, I don't want to be in a match with survivors who have VAC bans, game bans and their profile hidden. I'd rather dodge those players than risk being stuck in a match indefinitely, especially if hacking ever becomes a huge issue again.

Then why is it okay for survivors to have to play against Killers who have cheated or been Vac banned? It's a double standard to say "well that side could have this and I deserve to know" when the other side is excluded to deal with it no matter how they feel.
Either both sides get to see who it is or neither. No one should have their cake and eat it too.
I would prefer neither because then there's way less likelihood of stream sniping, toxicity in general, bming and all the like.

Outfit. I'm saying it isn't listed as a OUTFIT that you can just click and have fully on. Instead You have to manually select each part instead of it being a full set.

The Map Azarov's Resting place had two large open fields that cut into the map, allowing you to jump off this red untextured "blood pool-like platform". One caused you to fall in one one spot, the other caused the Survivor to be teleported to a random part of the map? I recorded it in my game:
    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2206185932?t=02h24m54s
It happened several times throughout the match. Obviously, simply avoiding the pools is the right choice, but I saw that the border goes to the exit gate, I have no idea whether or not you could prematurely "Escape" by crossing along the outer wall, but I didn;t want to test it in case I get reported for exploiting or something.

Just wait four minutes, far more healthier and doesn't break any game rule by DC

Waiting four minutes because the killer wants to waste as much time as possible is asinine and you know it. Also, your previous response is not constructive in the least. Don't reply unless you have an actual component to add to the conversation that isn't sarcastic or obnoxious.

    @ShanoaLegendaryPlz said:

Currently the only method is dc. Also bming is quite reportable as multiple offences end up in a ban 100% of the time. The way people tend to give up in this game range from they dont like the killer, they see the team isnt doing much, the killer is tunneling for moris rather than playing normaly with them, they had something come up at home and have to go but dont want to lose their challenge or something, and then there the killer trying too hard to win so everyone whose just casually playing wants to go to the next round. But as for all 4 being slugged and harrassment the only way to give up is dc or make a fool of them by going to do something else which u did lol. Giving players a new way to give up early will end up in an even greater surge of rounds where the survivors just dont even try. Maybe they could just add a button to bleed out faster if you are 1 or 2 survivors left. But then killers would say they need that person slugged longer for a 4k, which shouldnt be how its done just avoiding the existence of the hatch in the game altogether

No the, "Give Up" I'm suggesting only would occur in the specific parameter of a Killer refusing to pick up the L a s t survivor or maybe if there's a quad slug, like everyone can vote to leave or something of they've been bled out by a significant amount and the killer hasn't engaged in any meaningful way. You mention that as well with the last 1 or 2, but I wanted to reiterate.

    @UndeddJester said:

I still don't see the harm in having a basekit effect where once survivors have recovered to 95%, they can press a button to enter Desperation and crawl 50% faster, their grunts of pain are also 50% louder but bleed out 300% faster... leave bloody trails for 50% longer to simulate bleeding more... why not?

But I've gotten a lot of pushback for that idea, and I'm not really sure why... the arguments basically just amounted to "No". 🫤

I think that could be nice if the killer is specifically refusing to engage for a very long time or is there's 1 or 2 survivors left.

    @Ohyakno said:

Yeah, let survivors bleed out faster if they want. Let killers leave the game after gens are done. Sure.

There's a significant difference in the two. The Killer can start endgame collapse via hatch or opening an exit. They have the options to expediate the end of the match. Survivors that are forced to wait out a bleedout is bm as well as trolling on the Killer's part. Survivors should have a means of ending their experience if the killer is drawing out a losing scenario out of malice or spite.

Strangely enough, there is actually a type of people who find satisfaction in being BM as efficient as possible in games.

Normally this style of play should not be encouraged, instead a good psychologist should be automatically recommended via email before anything bad happens, but we are in DBD and THAT is the norm here.

This game tends to attract a lot of flies, yes.

I think the give up button should have some conditions... For example you can give up if a. Everybody is in the dying state and there no means of getting back up, every single player can decide to just give up. b. The team majority votes to give up the match, so at least 3 votes, in case of a swf being in the match maybe even 4 votes. c. Less than 3 players are alive, all players need to vote to give up and so on and so forth... There is not reason to force players to play the game in those cases...

That also would work. The game IDV actually has a similar voting system in that exact scenario.

    @TheTom20 said:

I've never been a fan of bm from survivors or killers just play the game i say.

Unfortunately players tend to get spiteful or cruel if they feel slighted from in-game interactions. I also get pretty heated, but I almost never t-bag, point or hit survivors on hook (Or the new dumbass "Hump" killers have adopted from some weird predilection). Doing those things have been argued to be a type of "mindgame" to mess with your opponent but I find it unnecessary and mean-spirited. And of course some people are just nasty trolls that get off on being obnoxious.

  • Also, as a Side gripe, you also receive damage if the Skeletons appear projected In front of you, so if The Lich misplaces the spell, you still get damaged even if it was put in front of you and they fly ahead of you.

  • Just had a game against it. Pretty annoying, though he did let everyone out at the end as Recompense it seemed.

  • Except maybe Huntress.

She doesn't get Haste after setting down a drone, for the record. She gets Haste when a drone scans someone.

It's also worth pointing out that other killers do comparable amount of things, they're just not all literal status effects so it stands out less. There's exactly one status effect I don't think she needs - Deep Wounds - and the rest all make perfect sense and aren't particularly egregious.

For real. I'd be fine with the deep wounds being removed but again that's a sort of "Buildup of danger" thanks to being scanned.
Plague literally breaks you all game, makes you loud, reveals you with stink lines, applies geographical information if you touch vaults, and you can't get in a locker because low and behold its suddenly covered in puke.

Legion applies deepwound, has buildup of speed/Haste per hit, has detection in a range of 40 meters (his terror radius increases by 8 meters) and a technical insta down if he gets enough feral slashes.

ANyone can sound overly complicated if you just list the attributes.

Highly suggest you look up PixelBush' 1.5 vid about SM, both to learn her further and play against her.

Put the drones away and shes just your regular m1 killer hehe

Everyone is so traumatized by a design that isn't even in the game anymore. It's physically painful how many matches against her or as her is completely tipped because of survivors throwing a tantrum.

    • Haste after releasing drones, ability to recall drones in any time, from anywhere on the map
    • Undetectable on demand with simply releasing drone
    • Giving survivors Broken status effect, also deep wound if already wounded
    • Giving survivors Hindered when they have claw trap, triggering instinct

And if you pair that with meta build and some nasty addons, what would you expect exactly?
If someone brings her, I assume they want easy game, so I go straight to basement to make the game even easier for them.

She shouldn't have this much in her basekit, period.

And yet all this is required by getting scanned MULTIPLE times.
    - Haste only comes into play if a Survivor is Scanned. It isnt automatic on placing a drone, a survivor has to be detected.
    - Undetectable lasts 8 seconds basekit and is on a cooldown. Also, Wraith Onryō say "Hi".
    - Claw Trapped Survivors have to be scanned 3 times (which they have immunity between scans for 3 seconds basekit), and the deepwound is meant to be something that potentially allows for time waste because an broken survivor can just do a gen if theyre not being pressure.
    - The Hindered and Killer Instinct are again meant to create an active threat if you dont treat the drones with proper respect.

That's the concept. MULTIPLE scans that can be put off or avoided all together so long as you do things like. Oh I don't know, crouch, leave the drone range, move behind an obstacle, Etc etc etc. you can literally just force her to attack normally and use the sprint to leave the active range.
Learn the counters its very VERY simple.

It's rather strange we have conspicuous actions but not utilizing that for anti hostage measure

That's a great Idea. Once enough time has passed, they should make it that not performing a conspicuous action just causes Crows to start appearing over you. And I mean performing and completing long, uninterrupted conspicuous actions. Not just tapping a totem or other objective over and over.

  • It's kinda tricky, arguably, they're just utilizing a playtsyle that may or may not benefit themself. But it definitely sounds like a time wasting "Refusal to participate in normal gameplay" which is indeed reportable.

  • I genuinely hate almost everything about the changes. Victor is now a hit and Run Power and Charlotte is just the garbage collector. I LOVE playing as the Twins, I love the rush of landing a latch or down hit, because it feels good getting the aim right. I agree with the clunkiness of their playstyle being frustrating, but that's the only thing that should've been addressed. All these other changes just make it so Charlotte is gonna be the prop to Victor and Victor will be Legion without the Killer Instinct for finding Survivors.
Devs please. The Twins are hard and can be grueling, but they're so so fun and rewarding for those who actually understand and enjoy them.
