If I got more BP for being camped or tunneled and didn't de-pip, it would help lessen the sting.

However, I do not think it would do anything to actually make people feel better about it. It's still a very strong strategy and while receiving BP and not de-piping is nice, if I'm getting tunneled or camped multiple games in a row; I'm just gonna find something better to play.

We should absolutely be looking to fix tunneling and camping. This means re-balancing the entire game and I just don't think BHVR wants to do that, even if it would be the better choice.

Devs attempted to fix tunneling and camping but the killer mains defended these strategies so in the end any anti tunnel and anti camp perk got nerfed to the ground.

As stated above, rebecca's new perk released as useless, so doesn't affect camping outside of comp level 4 SWF.

  • Spine Chill lights its icon whenever a Killer is within 36 metres, regardless of whether they are Undetectable or not.

Sure against Undetectable the terror radius intensity indicator only works as they wrote above

What we need is a casual/ranked split for playlists. I like playing killer and I'm pretty good at it, but I'd like to just meme around with weak killers sometimes.

This will achieve nothing. You'll have maximum sweaty blights and nurses file into the unranked mode just because they know they'll have opponents that want to take it easier, and bully squads hell-bent on making demogorgons cry. It's just a target painted on the casual playerbase.

Also splitting playerbase is terrible idea, I think there are huge lack of survivor players already.

On EU outside of events, and nights takes 5-10 seconds to find a survivor game, and almost always +100% bloodpoints incentives for the role.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/363739/survivor-stealth-playstyle-discussion-and-tips

I play stealthy by default, it's my go to gaming strat. Like I won't just sit in a locker all game. But I listen out for the TR and will try to avoid getting caught on a gen and I am usually the last in my swf to end up in a chase.

First up perks. Distortion, this perk is amazing for staying hidden. Especially with the amount of Nowhere To Hide I've been seeing recently. A lot of killers are relying on it and it saves you getting caught out in a locker. It also gives you valuable info on killers aura reading perks. Quick and quiet, always useful to silently jump in a locker to juke out of chase. Self awareness, mad useful in stealth builds. You know exactly where your scratch marks are and walking fast is very valuable for turning a distance gain in chase into an escape. Lastly probably iron will, as killer the amount of survs I catch out because I hear their pain grunts is unreal. Reducing the noise of these is invaluable. Spine chill and urban evasion are worth a mention too. Particularly spine chill, knowing where the killer is can be invaluable for avoiding them. A key with bloodamber is super handy for this.

One other thing is a piece of advice from a book series I love. Stay absolutely still when hiding. There are a lot of good places to hide on most maps, bushes, the cubicles on lery's, toilet stalls and spots on midwich. Wear dark or neutral colour cosmetics and avoid charms that glow like the auric cell or conscious concoction wtc. If you sit still, and there isn't any bright colours or glowy stuff to reveal you then killer can and very often will walk right past you. Even changing your view can cause your character to turn their head and a little movement can betray your position. I've had killers look right at me before and not see me. Yamaoka estate and dead dawg saloon are two amazing maps for this.

Think like a killer. You need to know killer perks and work out how they are trying to track you. If you use distortion you should know exactly what you need to as far as aura reading is concerned to avoid losing unnecessary tokens or getting caught. Some of it is harder to call, perks like spies from the shadows and bloodhound can really ruin your day if you're running a stealth build. Twins, victor has basekit bloodhound so if you're injured he's a nightmare to escape. If a killer catches you when you know you've hidden well. Consider they may be using these. Be aware of killer instinct, legion scoring a deepwound, using a vaccine/spray with nemi or wesker, being near a stationary victor. All reveal you to the killer and bypasses distortion. If you're against demo, only try to seal a portal if necessary and only when someone is in a chase, a lot of demos will ping open portals with from the abyss if they can't find someone, or maybe even run lifeguards whistle to always know when someone is messing with a portal.

Also stealth killers are an absolute nightmare to try and outstealth. You have to be crazy alert to achieve that.

Spine Chill is still very good vs stealth killers

I definitely agree with this a lot! I remember when the maps were darker and moon offerings were a thing. (Which honestly makes it sting more that I've been with this game for years and I'm still so bad. XD) But yeah, some outfits are obviously way more flashy. Though when I play as the killer, I honestly catch sight of certain bright charms on survivors more than their clothes. And just movement in general. There are games where I feel like I only see things when they move. X3

Actually the breathing and injured sounds are the most important thing to consider when choosing a survivor to play. Thats to say you are definitely want to avoid to play as Feng because she has such a distinct breathing sound that you can hear from miles away, and she is screaming for every action she does.

  • I have a big tip, clothing doesn't really matter anymore, it's almost exclusively knowing about how killer's line of the sight works and using the right stealth perks, a dark clothing doesn't mean anything, most of the maps brightened up etc.

Killers want to play agains't weak solo teams who don't coordinate at all.

Yeah, I think for many power role means, that they want to win without any effort, just because their opponents never had any resource for a fair fight.

I imagine that would be rough. I don't run slowdowns, with the exception of jolt on some M1 killers - but my builds are heavily chase oriented. With fewer chases because shorter matches it has become harder, at least from my POV.

I wonder what the game would look like if they vetoed the top 20 used perks for a month?

Then the top 21-25th would be the meta

  • @Wowie said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3338419#Comment_3338419

Right, but I'm not really suggesting that the HUD changes are bad for the game or that killer should be an easy role.

My point is that they're focusing too hard on competitive aspects of the game and as such the things that made it fun on both sides are now suffering as they no longer fall under the umbrella of what BHVR wants for DbD. Thus, you now see even less perk variety on killers and survivors both and games are gradually going to become so indistinguisable from each other that you might as well be playing any other generic comp game.

Until they realign with what the community liked about the game, it will slowly die.

That's my issue with the direction DbD is heading, and I know it is vaguely incomprehensible, for which I am sorry but it is so damn hot in my room that it is very difficult to think or form coherent sentences at this current moment in time.

Yeah, but any multiplayer game always have a meta. The best way to play, and especially nowadays you just watch a streamer and you already know the meta, and most people want to win at all cost, so they play that way which gives most chance to win.

Devs decided and wanted to make the game more comp type instead of party game, so there is no turning back now.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

What could they possibly give Trapper that would put him on the same level as Nurse?

For example, his traps are now deadly, any survivor stepping into it, dies instantly. That would make him as strong as Nurse lol

  • @Wowie said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3338383#Comment_3338383

It's easier to run off-meta stuff with survivor than it is for killer. I had a consistent escape streak running No Mither/Tenacity/Soul Guard/Dead Hard.

Granted, Dead Hard is meta, but it didn't work half the time I tried to use it anyway.

Last build I was running was Reactive Healing/Botany/Self-Care/Desperate Measures and I was getting decent escape rates with that one, too.

My latest build is a simple Power Struggle build, with Power Struggle/Flip Flop/Unbreakable/Boil Over but Boil and Unbreakable are pretty strong on their own so I don't think it really applies here.

And keep in mind that I have 1600 hours, with most of them being on survivor ever since the addition of Nemesis, so I can't be that low in MMR (as if that means anything anyway). So yeah, off-meta stuff is still mostly viable on survivor while it isn't on killer.

Well of course, its always will be harder to play the one role, because you are going against 4 other human, and you are just alone. So you arent permitted any mistake, while survivors are sharing the work, so they have it easier.

Its not really something that you can change, because as far as I know dbd devs want to have casual audience, if you make the killer role too strong then survivor numbers will drop, and at the long run the game will decline because of it.

So far this HUD change, I have to say the queue still very fast for survivor, so that means, that killer numbers are still very very healthy.

  • @Wowie said:

It is extremely difficult to play nice with a fun, unique build these days unless you plan on sweating hard or losing very quickly.

It's a shame because I used to love running off-meta perks and weird builds on lower tier killers.

Survivor is fun right now, though, when you're not getting tunneled or camped or bled out.

I think they need to stop adding things to basekit primarily, and simply focus on bringing back the fun sandboxy feel that the game used to have. This comp focus will eventually kill the game.

Well its the same as survivor, there are essential perks, or you are going to lose very badly. Running just fun stuff will cost victories on both side.

  • Strange, even though many of you claiming that took break from killer, still survivors game are almost instant, even at evenings

However I think you are right, when soloQ was unplayable I took break from the game, now the game is extremely fun as survivor again, so I play, I suggest you do the same, if killer numbers fall too low, then probably they will be buffed.

But so far I dont see it

  • I think they cannot revert it, for example on EU despite the HUD-changes, the survivor role has queue of 5-10 seconds, and only few hours since switched to killer incentives. Without the HUD-changes noone would play as solo survivor, before it was completely hopeless without SWF, now its a little better, SOLO still very weak, but at least I know how to play based on my team. If they dont want to play, then I play for escape, this makes things lot more clear.

  • I guess to show off to others.

  • Actually I prefer to use Sprint Burst

  • @Deathstroke said:

Games are rougher now as killer I can confirm. SoloQ survivors who were effient on gens are even more effient after the update. There are still some who just boon every match though and sometimes you can stomp survivors. But you have to play sweaty if you want to win. Casual killer will get stomped by decent solos.

Well, on EU still takes only 5-10 seconds to find a survivor game.

  • 8:00-16:00

100% bonus for survivors, on EU.

I think the only time killers having bonus, when people start to play in SWF at evenings and night, because they dont play solo anymore, and forced to play in SWF

  • What surprising for me, that there is almost always lack of the killers in recent days, 100% bloodpoints offered.

This is very true. The devs want to have their cake and eat it too when it comes to matchmaking. They really needed to combat the bizarre culture around DbD early on.

Players think a 50% win rate on killer is a balance issue, not a sign of good matchmaking. But they've let the "power role should be powerful because the player clicked the power role" mindset linger, and people freaked out when SBMM first came out with good matchmaking.

Then they dialed SBMM back a ton, which really just punishes anything less than a 4 stack because there's almost always a super weak link on the team now. Factor in the soft cap, and we're almost back to where we started before SBMM. I shouldn't be winning as many games as I am on killer. I shouldn't be getting instant queues to proceed to 4k at 3-4 gens. It's BS. I lose games when I'm matched appropriately. Sometimes I get dumpstered if I get survivors who also have my experience level. It shouldn't be a once in a blue moon occasion.

There has to be a better way here. Solo queue is miserable because weak links are introduced to ease the killer experience. A good 4 man is fine, but you're either sweating your tail off or 3 hooking a poor killer way out of their depth. Killer is all the over the place with zero consistency. 4 games will be the easiest games of your life, and you're severely punished for not bringing a good build because the game is randomly going to match you well once every 5 games, and that loss will feel completely contrived otherwise.

Yeah this power role really cant stand in a multiplayer game, luckily for the devs, they can afford this mistreatment towards survivor players, however I think they should be wise to avoid crossing the line. I mean most of the games already miserable because the MMR is disabled, and only enabled rarely, and those games are the most fun.

I mean there is no agency as solo player, when you get total newbies or bad survivors as teammates you lost the game, just because the power role doesnt want to try hard always. This is really weird balancing decision.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3337432#Comment_3337432

    Some games he hides.

Some games he literally loops the killer for 5 gens.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3337435#Comment_3337435

And yet I've seen Otz lose to solos.

I see thats very good, I will watch him surely in the future, nice to know that even solo survivor can be viable.

  • @Forza said:

well, my only gripe about nurse/blight in solo queue is how frequently survivors just disconnect immediately. like they wont' even get downed, just see that you're one of those killers and dc.

honestly, i really think these survivors should be horribly punished. like banned from the game for 10 years but behavior is afraid to ban them for even a day.

Yeah I think that either option could be good:

    A, Fix Nurse and Blight

B, Ban any DCing survivor for very long time, if repeated permanently

Because DCs arent counted into killrate, I do suspect that Blight, and Nurse killrate way higher than officially

Also yeah I will play lot more selfishly now thats for sure.

And again I wanted to be fair, but agree a certain extent that SoloQ is very tough even vs a decent killer but Nurse,Blight just makes it impossible

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3337290#Comment_3337290

They have to. Because as long as 4man SWFs are a possibility, that has to be the balance goal. Otherwise these games are an auto-loss for killers.

    Would you consider that fair?

People love to refer to Alf, without realizing that he's not an example of anything aside from 'the matchmaking system breaks down at a certain level of skill'. It's a very different discussion. If you want to see what this looks like from the other end, go watch Ayrun's solo escape streaks. Does that mean that solo queue is completely fine?

Hmm. Once we get the baby settled in, I can record some games. I'm...an okay looper, but I tend to play quite tactically. As in - if the team is getting creamed, I'm going to start playing for hatch.

Oh really Ayrun has a recent SOLO survivor escape streak?

Really surprising if its true, I thought that impossible to escape as solo, because the killer can just slug for 4K, and as a survivor you have 0 agency over that

  • @DudelPuma said:

its bhvr´s great Matchmaking, meanwhile a 4 men swf that has only well player destroying 99% killers, that is what bhvr want because actions say more than thousand words... "mmr" issues

Yeah, I think that MMR should be way more stricter, only match sweaty players with other sweaty player.

What ends happening that SupaAlf or Lilith going against solo teams, while tournament level 4 SWF is going against mid level killers.

  • @Marik1987 said:

FINALLY someone who dont say "vs. THE KILLERS", but vs. some of them.

Thats what everyone needs to understand. These two Killers are a problem for all the other killers.

These two need nerfs, so that other killers can receive some buffs to catch up.

    Exactly.

The rest of killer roster are underpowered, especially the m1 killers( sorry but I think Freddy is really weak) , but BHVR can't buff them as long as Blight and Nurse are around, because any buff would make those 2 even stronger.

  • @RpTheHotrod said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3336998#Comment_3336998

Accurate. For most M1 killers, gen slowdowns are REQUIRED perks. There shouldn't be any required perks.

The problem is that you can't buff m1 killers as long as Nurse and Blight around.

  • @StarLost said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/363558/soloq-is-auto-lose-vs-a-decent-nurse-blight

    Okay...?

Here's the truth. And it's one of those unfortunate truths that people don't like to hear.

This game has to be balanced around SWF versus Killer, not Solo versus Killer.

When I play survivor, I can choose to join an SWF or play solo.

When I play killer, I have no choice in the matter - and the next game I play could be against a 20,000 hour comp squad. So I need to go into every match anticipating that possibility.

Balancing the game entirely around solos would be massively unfair to killers.

Now...that all said, I'm escaping maybe 50% of the time as a solo survivor. That number cannot and *should not* be any higher.

    As to the rest:

Honestly dbd is the only multiplayer game where a single player allowed to roflstomp and pubstomp 99% of their games

    Hahaha what?

Basically any team based PvP game will allow pubstomping. Heroes of the Storm? League of Legends? Go queue up as an organized group and you'll roll.

Now, I'd love to see SWF get some sort of MMR adjustment (as a lot of other games do) so they'd face stronger opponents, but BHVR have said that they won't do that.

99% is a silly hyperbole, not even going to engage with that.

Bonus, there is no MMR, capped at low level, so its almost guaranteed that survivor team will have average or bad player,

    ...Huh?

No seriously, I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

    There is MMR.

The MMR 'cap' could probably stand to go up a bit, but it's definitely not low.

Survivor teams will have a mix of players, generally grouped together to form an average MMR close to that of the killer. If the killer is low MMR then yes, you will likely have low MMR survivors.

which is autolose vs Blight, Nurse if piloted by a decent player.

    Define 'decent'.

I've seen Otz lose to solos on Nurse and Blight (you can go watch his streak videos). And if you're going to turn around and say 'well Otz isn't a decent player' then...yeah, that would be very silly, wouldn't it?

Hell, I've beaten Nurse and Blight as a solo queue survivor.

SupaAlf won 500 games out of 500 games with Nurse, so 99% is maybe even understatement.

I don't know any multiplayer game where 1 player allowed to have 90+% winrate.

4 vs 4 doesn't count since both sides need to have 4 good players to win, while in dbd one side only needs one player to win almost every game.

I mean I understand that you want to win every game as killer, while eating snacks and going for 12 hooks, but its still unbalanced.

  • @KateMain86 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/363481/feng-min-isnt-the-only-survivor

Feng isn't the only survivor, she's just one of the most popular and well received ones. Its never really too much when one of your best character designs is giving you a great return on the work you put into it. I don't think 50 good outfits for Haddie would make people play her. Feng gets unreasonable criticism as well as the developers about this. People complain and want them to create outfits that will only appeal to a small amount of people. If the character isn't first received well it doesn't make sense to keep making cosmetics for them. I'm sure Elodie and Haddie will get more stuff eventually, but its completely reasonable that the stars of the game receive the most attention. I saw people using Feng's newer outfits the first day they came out. I haven't seen Haddie in a lobby since her chapter was released. In the end its about what is marketable and not every character or cosmetic they make is going to be as marketable as others.

    Exactly.

The only way I can see Haddie being popular, if they make for a her barbie like younger model posing as gamer lol

I am sure that would sell well!

  • In the end its business, and Feng skins are selling like crazy.

So if you want other skins, better start spending on other cosmetics.

  • The game designed around to be played in a 4 man SWF.

The blight and nurse killers for example are almost impossible to defeat even in 4 man SWF.

Which I think is really unfair, since for survivors the game is asking from 4 players to play perfectly while the killer only 1 player and if the player is good he will win if playing those 2 killers.

Now if you are playing in solo, then 1 mediocre survivor and you lost the game.

  • I dont like her, very sexualized, doesn't fit into dbd

  • @Valaryyn said:

As a mostly solo player, I have to say the solo buffs are pretty great. I like being able to tell what's happening in the match, up to a point.

However, I do feel like seeing generator progress is maybe too much information. It kind of takes away from the air of mystery of the game and gives me information for free that I needed good game sense for before.

I'm not even necessarily saying that visible generator progress is overpowered, since swfs do get all that for free; I just think the visual indicator turns the game even more into gen rush simulator without the extra bit of uncertainty.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

So there could be an option for killer mains who rarely playing survivor.

What I mean an option when you are playing solo once a month, then you could turn off the survivor buffs regarding free information, then you can play like you have no idead like used to be

  • The cheaters almost capable for anything in this game.

I think the only game is worse than DbD when comes to cheating is GTA5, because that game 100% client sided, so cheaters can do whatever they want really.

DbD also designed as 100% client based game, essentially p2p that means, only later the devs added a server, however almost no server checks are present.

The biggest advantage of this system that is very cheap for devs to maintain, it cost next to nothing. Also if you have a very bad internet, then you can still play the game, the downside is that others will suffer because of your bad net.

The disadvantages of client sided games are, that impossible to defend against cheaters, even the best company couldnt do anything, the only solution is to redesign the whole game to add more server checks. However that would mean that the devs earning lot less money and takes lot of effort time and money etc to add those.

Also players still playing despite how easy to cheat in the game.

The devs solution were that streamers became protected and they rarely encounter vs cheaters now, however non streamers got the suspected cheaters in their lobbies instead, so average players got the short stick recently.

  • I mean he played Demo of all things, one of the worst killer in the game, so of course he lost very badly.

Demo is so weak, I really hate that killer so much, so boring, so weak. Of course even OTZ will lose with demo playing nicely

I mean it's a silly nerf but if you actually miss skill checks that's a bigger issue IMO.

Also potential energy continues to be the most misunderstood perk in the game. This is not a gen go fast perk, it's not self-care for gens either like you absolutely do not use it for every single gen that's stupid lmao.

I would if anything compare it as adrenaline for gens. I don't think it's as good as adrenaline but it's very much an end game perk. Potential Energy is fantastic for getting that final gen done especially when you bring a BNP to go with it. Taking potentially up to 30-40 seconds of that final gen depending on your toolbox means the killer practically can't really commit to a chase. I actually like PE because it's actually a skill test, use it wrong and it slows you down but use it right and it can win you the game.

Very high risk, with low reward.

Sounds like heaven to me. They all wasted a ton of extra time getting those tokens, and any person you slap immediately loses 27 seconds worth of work. You wouldn't get that kind of value out of half the killer perks in the game!

Its self care for gens, this perk lol

  • Btw the only thing I can think--->

Maybe Potential Energy is there to troll other survivors: by activating it when other people are on the gen to give them a -15% repair speed while not contributing to the gen repair in any way.

Probably best done when the gen is close to pop but the killer is coming back, or just simply on the very last gen.

  • Yeah this is the reason I dont play much anymore, every fourth game is like this, the killer slugging for 4k, at very least the hatch should spawn when only 2 survivor left, and you still need to more than 2+ gens, essentially at that point the game is over.

I dont even care, let the killer get auto win, because its so annoying to go through this 10+ minutes torture, just so the killer main can get their 4k, even though dbd dont even have winrate stats or anything like that. So its pointless, but killers playing like their life depending on the 4k.

No matter how sad it might be. I don't think you're going to beat the young asian gamer girl in a popularity contest in a community as thirsty as this one

One skin would be nice though

Exactly, I remember there was a voting contest and very lewd young looking claudette art won it, so they went raging when devs made her less sexualized.

The truth is the more beautiful/handsome looking characters are played more.

The diversity characters might get praise on twitter but no one plays them.

Let's be honest haddie is very ugly

  • Weebs and otakus loving Feng Min.

She is extremely popular, its obvious that ugly characters won't be as popular

I see you and raise you Sheva, who is quieter than most survivors are with Iron Will.

Interesting, I didnt know about that

  • Most of the paid skins are pay to lose.

Just think, pink bunny feng is also pay to lose, or really those flashy skins that nea and feng often gets
