I have a suggestion (ʘ‿ʘ)╯
I like the proximity chat idea, however...
How about solos just get double BP every match?
✌(-‿-)✌

No one. Lol that's the problem with this idea. I don't even mind facing SWF. I think that SWF is one of the most overrated things in the game. I think that 90% of SWF teams are terrible and 8% of them are decent and 2% of them are unstoppable. But still. Why would a killer ever queue into SWF when they can just have easier games. I could see a few killers doing it. People that are really good and want to accept the challenge. But a SWF team would be sitting in queue for about 3 hours while the handful of killers played against other teams until they got their turn.
I was trying to say that maybe SWF is why the ranking/matchmaking system doesn't seem to work.

Did you just suggest that Deathslinger is OP and needs to be nerfed? Wow.. He's one of the worst killers at the moment, you realize this right? You've lost all credibility.
TBF I recently played as the deathslinger and I think I get what you mean now.
Whenever I play against him it's super difficult to the point where I feel like I might as well just give up most of the time.
When I play as him I can't seem to hit anyone with his rifle. Granted I played him as a level 1 so idk, maybe add-ons would make a difference. I was also playing against a SWF group of purple and red ranks and I'm still a bb killer too.
I didn't realize how hard it is to aim his gun and how easy it is for survivors to just keep moving back and forth and other simple strategies to avoid it.
-
I was thinking that maybe SWF was the reason the matchmaking was broken, because normally I get a rainbow mix of survivors with one or two near my rank but usually just one during those sweaty toxic matches.
However I just played a match against 4 survivors all twice as high of a rank as me.
So I'm guessing that's not the issue (︶︹︶)
-
Agreed dude. I played a lot of solo survivor and now playing a lot of killer and holy bejeezus. Solo survivor and playing killer are both frustrating. As a solo you experience the worst the game has to offer and now as killer I'm getting constant SWF groups of red and purple ranks and I'm a freakin baby rank killer.
It's like if I play solo survivor I just get facecamped, tunneled, farmed off the hook, all of it.
Then I play killer for a reprieve from that madness and I just get flashlight clicking, teabagging, dying state (not even hooked yet, mind you) rushed, and 360'd and framerate dropped.
Like srsly.... #########
This game is broken AF
-
I agree. Friday the 13th has a voice chat feature where you can only speak to each other if you're within a certain distance. I don't see why that can't be the case for dbd. Maybe it's too complicated to program given that they allow party chat anyway. There might be some sort of conflicting code or something between the game's chat feature and the party chat that needs to be cleverly coded?
-
@GrannyonAcid said:
Nah. Not needed. It's better this way. If you add a solo queue and a SWF queue. Killers will continue to get ran by solo survivors and they won't have anything to blame it on. It's better to keep SWF in the game at this point. It gives killers an excuse every time they lose. It's actually a healthy thing at this point.
But do you think it would fix the bugs in the ranking system? People getting rainbow mixes of ranks in a match.

Yeah from someone who plays solo survivor he sucks.
What credibility? I'm some rando on the internet, not the prime minister. Everything on these forums is all anecdotal. Calm down

You mean calm spirit. It won't prevent you from Madness Tier 3 but it will stop you from screaming, so the Doc will have a harder time finding you and you should be able to snap out of it without getting disturbed.
It won't help you in much in chase (might confuse the doc a bit if he doesn't have line of sight on you) but Madness Tier 3 doesn't do anything in chase expect preventing you from using a flashlight.
It is a situational perk, but it will help against the clown and infectious fright too and if you hate a killer that much sacrificing a perk slot for him seems like a good idea.
Sorry, but no, I don't think the other players understand that. Some of the changes they made for the Doc are a bit questionable but not questionable enough to dc every game (btw, as far as I remember in the games I played against a Doctor, no one dc'd so most of the players seem to be able to handle him). Also, facing something potential overpowered (I'm thinking of old omegablink Nurse or three blink Nurse, not the new Doc, just to clarify that) isn't going to be a better experience if someone leaves right at the start.
I think your attitude is your problem. You are not willing do learn what his power actually does, what perks work against hin or how to play against him, so you just dc against him, but that's a very immature thing to do.
Call it whatever you want dude idgaf. If they don't want people to dc then they should just remove the option entirely. I'm guessing they never wil because if they did I'm guessing a lot of people would just quit this game altogether.

Just read Doc's power description: Madness Tier 3 makes repairing, sabotaging, healing, cleansing and searching impossible, but not unhooking a person or dropping a pallet/vaulting. If you can't vault in Madness 3 even though the doc hasn't shocked you (the shock prohibits every action for 2,5 seconds, including vaulting etc.) it's clearly a bug, so you should record it and file a bug report.
You know what screws over a solo team the most: Having a player less right from the start. It's your opinion that nobody has fun against those killers, I don't mind the Doc even though he isn't the most fun to face, Deathslinger is interesting to play against in my opinion. I hate to face the Trapper, but I don't dc against him, even if I play solo. And thats my point: There are very few killer who are universally liked, so if eveybody does, what you do, most matches would have a dc and that would suck for everybody.
It's understandable that solos don't want to face a mori or super strong addons, but dc'ing just because you hate a certain Killer is not. There are perks and builds against those charakters, try those.
Name a perk or add on that prevents the tier 3 madness. I've hear d people say use iron will but it's one of those perks that is very situational and you have no idea which killer you're going to face or what map you'll be on so it's a gamble and a waste of a perk slot. I didn't have a problem playing against the doctor until this new upgrade and now he's just op against solo players. I don't have to put up with that s$!*. I'm not against a challenge but I'd also like to have fun. I've also never played against a doctor who didn't camp the hook. I totally get that it puts a damper on things to dc but I'm sure the other people understand. This game has so many balance issues and leaves room for so much toxic behavior to happen and life is short. I'm not going to just put up with some bull$!*% I'm going to move on to something better.

I'm sorry, but people who dc against a certain killer are the worst. You ruin the game for 4 other people, just because you feel this killer sucks and you don't want to face him. Guess what, everybody has killers that they doesn't like to face (for me it's Trapper or Hag) and if everybody dc's it would be quite impossible to have normal matches.
Madness tier 3 btw makes actions like healing, doing a gen, a totem, a chest etc impossible but you can still unhook, drop pallets and going in a locker should be possible too (I'm not 100% sure on that one, they might have changed that). So if you were really unable to drop a pallet in Madness tier 3 (without being shocked of course) you should file a bug report.
Naw, it's happened multiple times against him where I tried to drop a pallet or vault something in tier 3 madness and it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure it's intentional. It's bull$*!t to me. I DC on almost all doctors and gunslinger. Until they balance out those characters it's no fun for any survivor characters. Mindo you I play almost exclusively solo and that changes the balance of the game big time.
-
It's a tossup between Critters
Or Leprechaun
-
Yeah I was starting to get the hang of how to watch out for his static blast but lately I've noticed once he has you in the madness phase where you have to snap out of it you can't drop pallets, heal, or use lockers until you snap out of it.
I don't know if that's a bug but it seems ridiculously OP when you're in a chase against him.
Now I just DC whenever I know it's him at the beginning of the match. I also pretty much stopped bringing items and most offerings into the game because I'd rather not lose them from some crappy killer player in the event I get camped and tunneled or lag switched or whatever other number of crappy tactics the other side can use. Besides most the time you bring items into a match it just singles you out for the killer to tunnel you.
One of the last times I played against the doctor everyone caught on that it was a pointless match right away and everyone DC'd.
For the record, I like playing against a good portion of the killers when they're not using scummy tactics.
Hillbilly: Not too bad once you get the hang of how his chainsaw works, still a challenge tho
Trapper: Probably my favorite. I've never been camped by the trapper come to think of it. It would be nice if the number of tries to get out of his traps was limited so it's not potentially impossible to get out of them.
Pig: Probably another of my faves to play against. I try to boop the snoot every time. Every. Time.
Nurse: Her blink takes a little while to get used to but once you do it's like Hillbilly, challenging but not OP
Wraith: Once you understand that you need to be wary of stealth killers at the beginning of each match he's easy to keep an eye out for. Also pretty fun to play against
Huntress: Yeah why not. Pretty fair.
Baby Michael: Fun times
Tier 3 Michael: $#!k that ***h#$e
Hag: Tends to not be toxic and not too OP. Pretty legit challenge
Demogorgon: Bon temps.
Plague: Does anybody even play as the plague?
Freddy: Not too bad once you understand his power. His lunge is a little OP, which can be frustrating when you know there's almost no way you're going to make any vaults in a chase.
Ghostface: Can be used for evil
The remainders are ranked in descending order leading to the arguably least balanced
Oni: He kind of becomes increasingly unstoppable as the match progresses. Pretty much going to urban evasion the whole time. The one hit down borders on OP
Spirit: Nurse on crack
Clown: Can and is abused when the last two gens are next to each other, at exit gates, whenever someone is hooked. His toxic gas is almost as bad as doctor's shock but not as bad because you can still perform actions under its effects at the very least and it has limits to range etc
Leatherface: Tends to be toxic
Legion: Pretty sure even legion hates legion
Doctor: Ties with deathslinger imo the shock blast has almost zero cooldown with some add ons and has a huge range, plus you can't perform any actions when he puts you in tier 3 madness. Kind of pointless to try to play against honestly.
Deathslinger: Dude literally has a gun. He's literally running around the map shooting fish in a barrel. Like what moron was sitting in a meeting with the devs and was like "hey you know what would be fun?! Being a zombie cowboy with a harpoon gun!" And at no point in that meeting did anyone say "Yeah, but wouldn't that suck to play against? Seems almost pointless to try." I hate cowboys on principle (with the exception of Clint Eastwood) because historically they were pretty much responsible for the massacre of a lot of Native American tribes and they have a long tradition of being portrayed in film and television as doing so but are portrayed as heros. There's just a lot going on with that whole character type that evokes a lot of polarizing feelings and images. Not saying it can't be done well (like Clint Eastwood) but there's way too much room for the possibility for that character type to put forward the wrong message. I just pray they don't try to make some cringey Native American character. Let's just not revisit the old west any further.

Survivor:
Go home killer you're drunk
Once placed on the hook if the killer stays within 36 meters of the hook for 14 seconds then you receive 100% extra survival points and the next time you are placed on the hook you will automatically escape the hook and the hook will be broken.
OR better yet
Once placed on the hook if the killer stays within 36 meters of the hook for 14 seconds then you remain in the first phase with the chance to struggle again so long as the killer remains within 36 meters, will be reactivated if the killer leaves and comes back within 36 meters.
Ignore the survivor behind the curtain
When hiding in a locker all other survivors auras are hidden from the killer when they would otherwise be exposed. While hiding in a locker you're aura is exposed to the killer. Lasts 10/15/20 seconds. Has a cooldown of 40/30/20 seconds.
Killer
OMFG
You can hide in lockers. While hiding in a locker you have no terror radius. (not immune to kindred) IF you fast leave a locker into a survivors path that survivor suffers from the exposed status effect. If a survivor attempts to enter a locker you are hiding in then they are automatically carried by you. Has a cooldown of 80/70/60 seconds.
Blood Party
For each survivor you put in the mangled status every survivors field of view is reduced by 12 degrees (from behind them).
-
It's because it's not a community. It will never be one so long as you have players split between two sides. If the killer and survivors were chosen at random each match from the lobby then you'd see a lot less toxicity.
-
At 1:02 and 1:20 he broke chase when you were an easy target ie running and leaving scratchmarks everywhere, fast vaulting right near him. You'd almost have to try not to catch up to a survivor making those kind of reckless moves.
At 1:50 all 3 of you on a gen and you all ran to it leaving tons of scratchmarks, not to mention he should have been able to see your scratchmarks leading towards the gen. Was he chasing the 4th survivor around and completely ignoring everything else??
From 2:30 to 3:00 all 3 of you ran to a gen plus you missed a skillcheck and then all fast vault out of there? How does he not pay any attention to any of you?
At 3:38 he completely ignores you even tho it's clear your wounded. I would have gone for you and gotten another easy down. He was more concerned with the person on the hook getting unhooked.
At 4:31 another player starts messing with the portal right next to the gen. Most demos I've played against would have rushed to portal there, especially at that stage in the game.
At 5:02 he completely disregards you and goes for the Claudette hiding around the corner? What? He also could have used his leap attack at you and gotten an easy down, I don't know why he didn't.
At 5:23 he clearly sees you and could easily gain on you plus you're running and leaving scratchmarks and then fast vault right away after but for some weird reason he breaks the chase and THEN finally decides to use his teleport?
At 7:15 you break his portal and he STILL doesn't try to go after you. Most killers I've played against would have gone right over to me and tried to get a third down, leaving one survivor on the hook and the other in dying state.
The whole time you're teabaggin the exit gates he never once used his leap attack and also just ignored the downed survivor the whole time. Something seems off about that.

I've been playing for a few months now, rank 2-3 survivor. I honestly don't know how this game is supposed to be balanced. Killer wins almost 100% of the time in higher ranks.
As an example, the last game I played it was against freddy, indoor map. He had HEX: RUIN and no one could do a generator, no one could escape. How does the killer have fun when there is no challange?
Every other game also, zero survivors escaped, except one hatch escape.
I probably wont play much longer. Not that the game devs probably care. You who are reading wont care, I know. I'm simply confused as to how this game is supposed to work?
You will soon discover these forums are all dominated by ***hat "killer mains" (that's the lamest thing ever btw, associating your identity with a videogame in that way) who will dogpile you. Most of them have never played survivor and those who claim to have will gaslight you with a variety of responses to refute you.
The reality is most "killer mains" are 12 year-olds whose parents would probably be disturbed if they watched them play this game for an extended period of time.
-
I'm in the same boat but I play survivor mostly. Just running the same perks all the time because they're the only ones that work in every situation and trying to deviate from them just ends with being facecamped.
N00b3 said it best, "there's a game in this bug" lol
-
I agree something needs to be done about it to make the game fun.
The problem with the "just gen rush" argument is that when someone is being camped there's no way for other players to know unless they have kindred. What happens when I play solo is someone gets hooked, sometimes that's me or another player, and no one has kindred equipped. One or more players go in for the save because we know it sucks sitting on the hook not being able to play the game. The person is being camped and the players who aren't aware of this end up walking right into the killers line of sight and then get chased and put into the dying state right away. This leaves several opportunities for the killer player to exploit. They can leave the newly downed player in the dying state and go after any other players who are near the scene of the crime, possibly putting another player into the dying state relatively easily, or they can hook one of the newly downed players. Meanwhile someone will go for a save on the original hooked survivor and get them off just as the second person is put on the hook. The killer player then easily makes it back to the original scene of the crime and downs the survivors who are only just now escaping the area of the original scene that started the whole mess. This just creates a back and forth of people getting downed, hooked, saved, downed, hooked, saved ad nauseum. Eventually players die or disconnect.
Everyone could just rush to finish fixing generators instead but without kindred there's no way to know if you're leaving some poor teammate to linger on a hook and die. Sometimes if the person isn't being camped and we all assume they are the player sees that no one is coming to save them because they can see everyone's auras and realizes they can just DC or die right away and then when they do everyone else realizes they probably weren't being camped and now we're down to a 3 person team.
The problem with trying to make an anti-camp build for a survivor character is that you're basically just never going to use any other perks other than the ones that can mitigate the camping scenario and also takes the fun out of the game. As it stands I've found there's no point in using any perks other than Spine chill, Self care, Urban Evasion, and either Decisive Strike or an exhaustion perk since that's the only combo that works in all situations. The other perks are fun but essentially useless since you rarely get any opportunities to use them since most of them are effective only against specific killer opponents or their benefit is easily negligible in instances where the killer player is being a d****o (camping, lag switching, tunneling etc). The only time I really use any other perks anymore is if I'm in a SWF group, otherwise as solo they're useless.
I like what they've done with the sabotage perk since it's actually worth having now. It's nice since it discourages camping. After a save just break the hook the other survivor was on and at least buy them a little time before the killer comes back from proxy camping and downs them again.
The whole hook mechanic is pretty lame. I'd say just get rid of the hook altogether and then there's no more camping at all. Make it so once a person is put in the dying state they just die. Then we can just move on to a new match. It's probably easier to balance the game without the hook anyway.
I just had a match where 3 of the 4 survivors had kindred against a wraith that had the insidious perk. They were just standing in cloak mode next to the hooked player and going completely stealth. We all caught on after one or 2 hook saves and then just gen rushed and the killer disconnected the match on us.
The hook is just a dumb game mechanic.
I understand sometimes the killer player can't help it. I've had dumb teammates in solo mode who just ran to get people rescued before the killer player even left the scene of the hook repeatedly or where they just plain suck at remaining hidden near the hooked player. Those instances are not the majority of camping in my experience.
Some of the most fun matches I've played ended with all the survivors dying. They were still fun because the match lasted like 25 minutes or what seemed like longer and that's because no one got camped or even proxy camped or tunneled and it was fun as hell.
And this brings me to the Doctor. Where do I begin? I'll save it for another rant.
Anyway TLDR My solution is just get rid of the hook altogether. It's dumb.

The range on the Doctor's shock therapy was increased for a reason, it was just too little before the rework. I don't think decreasing the range of the Doctor's shock therapy is a good idea. If it's too small, it becomes useless and whenever you are in range to shock a survivor, you could then just not charge it up and instead just hit the survivor directly.
I think Doc is completely fine the way he is now. Not op, but good enough to actually be viable.
You're entitled to your opinion, I just prefer a challenge.

I know that Doc has to time his shocks correctly, but what part of playing Freddy requires skill? Placing your massive snares at a loop and forcing the survivors to drop the pallet immediately? Holding the gen teleport button and letting go before it activates to make the survivors run away? Making the survivors run around the map or alert you to their presence to wake up even though you don't take any part in putting them to sleep? Teleporting back to the same generator and hitting it with pop over and over? Please, enlighten me.
I play mostly as Freddy and I've played as the doc. It's not really a challenge with the doctor, the range on the elctro shock needs to be toned down quite a bit.
I've been playing survivor too and I notice more and more low ranks using the doctor. I just witnessed a match against him where the doc was face camping the first hooked person and everyone DC'd on him. It kinda made my day. So far I've seen three matches against him today where he just facecamped. Pretty lame imo
I think the only thing with Freddy is his hitboxes are a little over the top. I feel bad for survivors when I hit them from like a mile away while they're vaulting a window. I didn't realize Freddy's teleport worked that way. I thought the animation the survivors see where the gen turns to blood and stuff doesn't happen until after the power is fully engaged or whatever. I never even thought of trying to do that.

Use mindgames, drop pallets early, hop into lockers for a moment or two when his TR approaches if he has blast ready, there are MANY options to counterplay for those willing to use their brains
For chases there really isn't that many options. Dropping pallets early will just waste a pallet and give the killer another notification to keep them on your trail even if they lose line of sight. Mind games such as misdirecting while running and then walking/sneaking another way are extremely limited opportunities that are available maybe 1/10 chases and have maybe a 50/50 chance of working when it is an option because of the killers faster movement speed.
There's really not that many different mechanics/objectives to the chase sequence itself.

You realize you’re putting the job of having fun for survivors onto the killer, right? We have all been continually chased and camped. They are correct that this community says “tunneled” when they really mean “chased too soon” most of the times.
Its a great feeling to be chased across the map over and over while they pop gens and the killer loses. That’s pretty fun.
What it sounds like you’re saying is that it’s not fun when the killer can out mind game you and down you over and over because you didn’t bring DS and weren’t saved with BT.
Outside of being face camped, most of everything is in your control if you’re good enough.
No dude, you're literally putting words in my mouth. I never said that.
The killer does have a lot of responsibility in the game, like it or not. It's because it's because it's an asymmetrical game. The devs and marketing peeps even describe it as such. This means that it's inherently not a balanced game. Basketball is a balanced game.
I think there's a lot that could be done to balance it for both sides while still keeping the killer more powerful than the survivors by enough of a margin to make it suspenseful/challenging for survivors without devolving into pure hopelessness/pointlessness.
For example it would have been really easy early on to employ a simple mechanic where if you hook someone and you're within a certain range of them the entity slows down and if someone rescues someone while the killer is still near the hook or within a certain time from the other person getting hooked they get no bloodpoints. Then you give incentive to the killer/player not to camp and you also give incentive to the survivor not to be a dumb### The devs haven't done anything like that and instead just roll out perks that address the issues in a roundabout way. I might be paranoid but I think there might be something behind why there's a big divide between people playing survivor/killer. I don't play killer simply because I can't connect to a lobby/match as killer as there's something buggy about the game. I wonder how true this is for other players?
The times I was able to connect as a killer I didn't face camp people or tunnel, I broke pursuit with someone after maybe 45-60 seconds and still had fun.
I think maybe the devs intentionally let some toxic gameplay mechanics abide because it just makes people more into the game. I see a lot of people complain about the game and yet they/we still play it. It's almost similar to how a slot machine works in that it creates a cycle of toxicity that's hard to pull back from.

Being a killer main, and playing for the rank rather than the BP at this point i have all the perks and such I'm just trying to get better as killer. Hence why I have been playing every killer from nurse to bubba. I get trashed for wiffing or get trashed for using an end game bubba.
T-bagged or annoyed by people just trying to be hot ######### or something of the sort. Grant it, it doesn't get to me how it used to but now that I have dealt with it so long I just begin to try and outplay the opposition. And I began to take pride to getting hate. But I will still never forget when I was at my 200 hour mark. Being t-bagged and GG ez'd the entire game. It's never fun.
Wow. You described one long toxic cycle. I honestly don't get this game. What is this whole division between people who play one side over the other? I feel like this game would be a lot more chill, but still suspenseful, if the servers actually worked to allow people to play both sides equally.

For solo players who match with a 2 or 3 man SWF, a killer tunneling or camping one of them is very good for you. You can complete gens and cleanse while the killer stands there. Tunnelling sucks, sure, but it does not behoove the killer to tunnel sometimes.
No dude. I DC even if I see someone else getting camped or tunneled too hard. I think this all boils down to a case of just putting yourself in the other players shoes momentarily. The whole hook mechanic of this game is very unique in the sense that it takes you completely out of gameplay while forcing you to watch from a limited perspective. I can't think of many other games that force that experience on anyone. It's really not fun. It's not bad to the point where it makes it unplayable but it quickly becomes frustrating and not fun if you're sitting there while some other player exploits a broken game mechanic like that. I mean, we play games to have fun, but the game mechanic in and of itself is kind of intrinsically toxic or lends itself to making toxic behavior very easy.

"I can't just brainlessly loop pallets, this Killer is OP REEEEEEEEE!"
I think I've said this somewhere else before but seriously there's little else survivors can do. Survivors literally have three objectives they can work at:
- repair generators
- cleanse totems
- open exit gates
Cleansing totems it neat and all but ultimately pointless unless you can coordinate the group in swf or if it's a hex totem.
Are survivors supposed to run around the map until you come across them, engage in a chase with the killer while only using each vault and pallet only once? Survivors don't because they'd die. All. The. Time.
I played that when I first started playing and I did die every time. Not only that I got camped and tunneled constantly so it was completely no fun whatsoever.
The game is unfortunately designed in such a way that there's actually not much else that survivor characters can do tbh
The killer is typically too fast and not to mention they get faster the longer the chase goes so it doesn't leave many options open. Can't double back in sneak really and hiding in a locker is suicide unless you have quick and quiet, but even then it's not really guaranteed.
I don't think you've really given much thought to the other side of the equation.

I've played as trapper and the doctor and if anything the doctor needs his shock thing that exposes people's location toned down as far as radius. I think trapper is perfectly balanced and pretty fun to play against and to play as.
I've never played as plague so I can't really say much.
Can we just all remember that as the killer, even without any powers/perks/add ons, you:
- Are invincible
- Move faster than survivors and your movement speed increases the longer you chase them
- Are the only one in the match who can attack
- Know where all the gens are
Now add whatever killer specific powers and perks and add ons and it quickly becomes ridiculously op. The killer character should be more powerful otherwise it wouldn't be scary, but there's definitely a limit or a threshold before it becomes kind of pointless to play against.
-
If I was one of those other 2 people and saw it was a doctor I'd DC too. The new doctor is way op. I've played as him and was kind of shocked (no pun intended) at how stupid easy it is to play as him now.
Also, I'm tired of people who play the killer all the time complaining about pallet loops and gen rushing... like seriously what are supposed to do? Do you want us to run around at random until you find us and then get into a chase with you using every pallet and vault only once? We'd die. A lot. Quickly. Every. Time.
I used to actually play like that as survivor and then realized quickly that there is often just too much distance between me and the next vault or pallet and the killer is too fast for me to try and double back in sneak mode to lose them.
Same thing with flashlights. Bro, I have a flashlight. You have a machete/chainsaw/knife whip/dagger/knife hands. You basically brought a bazooka to a fist fight and are complaining that people are flicking pebbles at you. It's pathetic.
If anything this game needs to add more variety of ways to escape the map like some other asymmetrical survival games cough F13 cough then there wouldn't be any gen rushing because there's actually be other objectives for the survivors to try and accomplish thaty have a meaningful impact on the game. Cleansing totems is a neat objective but if I don't see any hex totems I'm not going to waste my time cleansing every dull totem in the off chance the killer has no ed. This is especially true when playing solo because the only way it can really be accomplished without wasting precious time I could be spending working on gens is if the team can coordinate the effort, which is next to impossible in solo mode.

Definitely not fun. I've been there many, many times over the years. Thing is, most of your killer mains don't give two s***s about the survivors fun, or keeping the game enjoyable. Some will even admit it. Some players lose sight of the fact that it's just a game, and that it's there as an escape from all the stress and aggravation of real life.
Yeah it's a shame really, because the idea behind the game is pure gold, it's just got a lot of loopholes that allow the fun to nose dive fast. I also notice most of the major streamers have toxic gameplay as their main theme. I almost wonder if someone made a YT or stream that was the opposite if it would be more fun to watch, and maybe change some of the culture around the game? I got into the game because I've always been a big fan of most horror franchises and really wished the gameplay was more reminiscent of the kind of fun that is all things horror/halloween. Sometimes it is but it's more 50/50 in that regard.

I see what you're getting and...it's dumb.
If we're trying to talk fun, you think killers love it when they got infinite loops to worry about? Good loops that they can't stop? 4 people going around clicking after them like crazy? Or body blocking the hook? Or how about when survs spawn beside our totems?
If we're talking fun to fun here, you want a chase to last till gens pop.
Killers just want to win, but we get screwed by simple things that just annoy anybody after an amount of time. But what do survivors get out body blocking, bullying and laughing at new killers? Fun.
I guess the few times I've played killer I never took winning too seriously. You can easily still rack up like 40k BP even with only one downed survivor. For me the fun in playing killer is the same kind of fun you get when you work at a haunted house on Halloween. It's fun to scare people a little sometimes and I think that's where the fun in being killer mostly is. TBF I did have some survivors teabag me at the exit gates once and didn't really appreciate it especially because I gave them a real clean match ie no camping/tunneling/basement hooks and no toxic/op perks etc but teabaging isn't anything I would ever do as survivor anyway because it's pretty immature. Maybe in a private custom match with friends as a joke but never to some random.

Could you post some footage of this? I am genuinely curious.
Footage of the lobby crashing or of me playing killer?

And what is fun for the opposite side ? Killing. Exactly. Dying sucks especially in this genre as survivor because you will die fast if you did bad/got in the wrong place no matter what. If you cant understand that feel yourself like a gen. It doesnt live long the same way you live as a single survivor and if you really cant stand that id advise you to play killer. As a killer you will stay in a game till the end no matter losing or winning.
First off, and I'm being serious when I say this, only half of what you said made sense. Second, I would play as the killer if the game didnt crash every time I try to.

I, uh, did play survivor for a while. I escaped the vast majority of my games, and promptly got bored because the vast, vast majority of them where almost entirely me holding M1 for a while and then escaping, or making mindless use of pallets because if I use each pallet I come across with some even mild restraint I can take up enough time for the remaining generators to pop.
I don't believe you.
-
Have you ever played survivor and been camped/tunneled? It's the most unfun thing ever.
The only fun part of playing survivor is getting into a chase that lasts a decent amount of time. It's LITERALLY the only fun part of playing survivor. When the person playing killer loses sight of that the game easily takes a nose dive as far as fun.
-
I'm on console and the only way I've ever been able to get into a lobby as the killer was with the dedicated servers. Since they've been down for maintenance the killer lobby crashes for me every time.
-
I play mostly survivor seeing as how the lobby always crashes when I try to play killer ever since the dedicated servers for console went down.
I truly don't understand how people who play killer can complain. The game is inherently built to make the killer superior to the survivors. Even the game's back story with the whole entity thing is biased towards the killer experience. I mean as far as story goes the entity doesn't snatch people up to torment the sadistic killers with a game of cat and mouse.
When the dedicated servers were up and I was able to play as killer I found it to be every bit as NOT challenging as I would have imagined it to be after having played survivor for like 3k hours.
As an example when playing as killer I abided by the following self-imposed rules from my experience of what made playing survivor totally NOT fun.
- I literally set a timer at the beginning of the match. If I came across any survivors in the first 2 minutes I would not hit them , hook them, or down them. The only circumstance under which I would M1 hit them is if they didn't flee from my presence if they saw me in those first two minutes.
- No camping the hook.
- No tunneling anyone. After 45 seconds of chasing someone I basically looked for an opportunity to break pursuit. Maybe by going in the direction of where someone was pallet vaulting or if someone popped a gen or if I saw another survivor during the chase.
- No basement hooks.
Even following these rules with no add ons and only one perk I still had to TRY not to kill all survivors or at least get 20k BP at the end of the match.
I played as every killer except for the following:
Legion
Clown
Demogorgon
Oni
Plague
Spirit
Huntress
Leatherface
The only one out of all the killers I played as that I thought was a bit challenging was the Pig, at least until I figured out how to user her lunge attack properly.
As a killer even without any add ons or perks you are:
Invincible
Faster than survivors and you gain speed the longer you are in pursuit of them
The only one in the match who can attack
Know where all the gens are
Play as survivor for a hundred hours or so and you can easily see how much more challenging it is. The only reason I can see why it is this way is because the devs rely on killers to host the match. The killers wield a lot of power because the game relies on them to be there because the game is asymmetrical. No one cares if survivors complain because it doesn't matter if a survivor rage quits a game but if a killer does then the match is over.
That's my $.02

I got 99 problems and a Billy ain't one.
-
I guess that makes sense. I thought maybe the survivors ranks might cause more or less pallets to spawn or something as a possibility. I was playing on the meat packing plant map and there were like no pallets in the underground part for what felt like miles.
-
I've never played as him, only against him. He sucks to play against. Basically the second legion spots you it's pretty much over. You can try and run as long as you want but he's basically designed to tunnel hard. I've managed to escape the exit gates against him maybe once in the 6 or so matches I've played against him. I think it was because it was a baby legion and all he kept doing was using the mangle attack on all of us, but maybe he was just taking it easy on everyone.
-
Agreed. The gameplay is pretty toxic to begin with but then you add that the fact that it almost doesn't work more than half the time and it makes for a really frustrating experience.
I just play on gamepass and I'm glad I didn't buy the game seeing how buggy and impossible it is to actually play with friends or as the killer.
I imagine I would be pretty upset if I paid for a game that was this broken just in terms of playability.
I don't understand how the consoles companies themselves allow this game to be on their platform considering it doesn't work and is mostly unplayable just looking at the number of bugs. I thought Microsoft and Sony had some standards a game had to pass in order to be allowed on the platform?
