  • It's only a loss if the entity is displeased.

  • Apologies for reviving this post, just wanted to thank BHVR for making this change!

you can track survivors with your radar if they are in the range of your drone

Just tested in a custom game and #########. How the hell have I been playing this character for so long and not noticed this!?

I think I need to go back to the go-fast killers...

  • Ignore, I've clearly never payed attention whilst playing this killer.

  • She won't be killswitched unless there's something actually broken with her. As far as I know she is working as intended, even if she can draw games out much easier than other killers can.

She won't be removed as she's not a licensed character.

As for an update, as others have said BHVR have her on their radar (no pun intended) but they've had many killers in the queue for changes for a long time now (see Twins and Nightmare). So they could be in the next midchapter or they could be years away, we just don't know.

  • As a Legion main, MFT has been pretty bad for me. I've ended up dedicating 2 perk slots to force exhaustion (current build being Blood Echo, Dead Man's Switch, Fearmonger and Thrilling Tremors) but there have still been cases where there's been a noticeable difference in how long a survivor can drag out a chase. I've gone against a few people stacking MFT with other haste perks and it's absolutely miserable, limiting haste to one effect at a time (whichever is strongest) would seriously help.

Also why is Dark Theory (a perk heavily limited by its set up time and range) weaker than MFT?

  • For a second I thought we got a multi level marketing charm and got really confused (I hadn't heard of MLM in any other context).

  • I played Legion yesterday and had a Rebecca attempt to throw (throwing several pallets and spamming vaults so I would hook her). Ended up slugging her and farming with the other three as she bled out.

I seriously don't get why people queue for the game if they don't want to play. All of this happened within the first minute of the match.

  • I think you'd have much better results with the "Houdini" build (lithe/dance with me/quick and quiet) plus a fourth perk of your choice.

  • I'll believe it when I see it. It would be a fantastic change though, hopefully they remove the FoV effect from M&A because right now the FoV changing during a game really messes with me.

  • *any build focused around healing increases your chances of being matched against The Plague or The Legion

I've been using a kinda weird survivor build lately: Clairvoyance, Distortion, Fogwise and Residual Manifest.

Clairvoyance is pretty niche but helps finding chests for Residual Manifest, locate gens that are close to eachother to prevent a 3gen and worst case it can reveal the hatch's location.

Distortion is really good with the amount of aura reading in the game.

Fogwise is underated. It's completely countered by Fearmonger (another underated perk imo) but if you're good with skill checks, it can be better than object of obsession.

Residual Manifest is an odd one but I've grown to enjoy using flashlights in games as of late. The blindness effect can be really annoying as a killer. A well timed blind before going down could potentially lead to a wiggle escape (although this is very rare) or it could prevent the killer getting value from BBQ.

It's definitely not a strong build but I've been having a lot of fun with it.

  • From the survivor's PoV; It's not going to help against Cannibal or Cenobite with that one add-on, in fact any killer that really wants to get a survivor out of the game fast will just tunnel the survivor.

I really hope the unhook speed build up is really slow after ~10m, and honestly it probably should be paused entirely if there's another survivor nearby. Multistory maps could be an issue depending on how fast the bar fills but we'll see.

Grinding that one achievement where you need to unhook yourself should be easier though, so that's a positive.

I meant that "games" as in "videogames", trying to point out that there's very few videogames, that feature a gameplay segment where you lost and you have to manually do a walk of shame towards your enemy to reset the sequence.

Usually when you lost, the game forces you into a death cutscene or spawns the enemy next to you and instantly kills you. The few times that hasn't happened to me it was generally due to a glitch or an oversight by the devs, and I didn't kill myself against the enemy unless the game used no save states (which only happened... what, once? Twice, long ago?)

    Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding.

I don't entirely agree with your point though. I think situations like being stomped by a SWF or having hopeless exit gates is pretty much the same as enduring any PvP game where the teams are obviously not balanced. OW feels like a good example (thanks to the poor matchmaking ATM), I've played many games where it feels pointless because the enemy team is clearly more skilled than mine and you either have to just play on and get destroyed for over 10mins or you disconnect and suffer a penalty.

The difference with DbD is that generally once you're at the point of hopelessness, the end of the game isn't far away even if it's the 4mins of doing nothing on the floor or opening the gate and waiting (unless you're going against the dreaded SWF bully squad that refuses to finish gens, but they are thankfully very very rare).

How many games have you played where you have literally 0 chance of winning and you had to manually feed yourself to the enemy.

When a player has 0 chance of winning, the game is immediately brought to an end, save exceptions like the game getting glitched and getting you stuck and you having to forcefully killing yourself to restart the sequence.

No one, and I repeat, no one at all likes going through the humiliation of handing themselves to the enemy to finish a match they've poured their entire effort on.

As always, this is better seen if you flip it around. Imagine if you're playing killer and you lost so hard against a SWF that by the time EGC starts they supress your attacks and you're powerless to stop survivors blinding and teabagging you. Right now you can push them out, but in this situation you're powerless. What are you going to do? Walk to the exit gates and kindly ask them to leave? Or are you gonna be petty and look to a wall to avoid giving them the satisfaction of humiliating you? You've already lost, you're not gonna play their game. Just like when survivors hide in EGC.

Killers are always so entitled. "Survivors shouldn't heal that fast! Survivors shouldn't do gens that fast! Survivors shouldn't be able to counter face camping! Survivors shouldn't, shouldn't, shouldn't! Why do survivors want a chance to win? Maybe don't play the game LOL", but when there's a tiny fraction of a chance that they are the ones that don't have a chance, they become massive crybabies. "Boo-hoo! I cannot counter DH when it's used for distance!" "Now it's nerfed, but now I can't counter it on pallets!" "Now it's nerfed, but I still have to wait to make sure they don't have it!" "Nooo, survivors are sabotaging hooks and I can't hook them! I feel entitled to this hook, I won the chase!!!!" "Nooo, survivors shouldn't be able to pick themselves up! Otherwise I have to waste a tiny fraction of my power on hooking people!!!"

I want you to stop thinking like an entitled kid and think for half a second how would you like to play a game where you spend your time with literally 0% chance of winning, just being someone else's play thing. Literally school bullying, the videogame.

Both of these scenarios happen very frequently. I've had many games where I've been the last survivor and had unlucky exit gates, I've had many games where I've gone against a good SWF who completely clowned on me and did the whole wait at exit gate to rub the loss in, hell in some cases they 99'd the last few gens just to prevent the game from ending. My reaction to both scenarios is the same, "oh well, next game".

I personally don't care too much about the last survivor escaping with one major exception: adept achievements.

  • This is the kind of BM that does annoy me. Drawing games out just to be a [bad word] is a waste of everyone's time, whether it's pretending to let someone go only to then kill them or waiting at the exit gate when everyone is safe to leave.

It's why I don't get mad at gen-rushing or tunneling as much- at least I'll move onto the next game fast.

I hope your next games go better.

  • They need to be removed or at the very least make the sacrificial ward a brown rarity offering and guarantee that they'll cancel out map offerings (as of right multiple survivors using the same offering will overwrite the sacrificial ward).

As for BHVR balancing maps, autohaven was an improvement but every other map has either become more survivor sided or swung the other way and became killer sided (haddonfield, at least up until they moved the generators around, I haven't played it that much since then to judge).

Honestly, Garden of Joy is reason enough for map offerings to be removed but then there are the badham maps, coldwind maps, eyrie (although it's not as bad as it used to be), RPD for most killers, the knight map...

  • The perk needs to be reworked entirely.

The way wiggling impacts movement is annoying enough when playing on controller. Boil over on a map with tight doorframes or weird collision is just miserable.

  • Legion chase music.

  • I lose chases because I'm vibing to Legion's chase music.

  • Generally I find solo survivor the least painful role to play but situations like this really sour the experience.

  • I feel like they're going to have to stick to the loudest noises only, otherwise things like survivors' breathing should be visible completely annihilating stealth.

There's only so much you can do for accessibility before everyone gets access to every piece of information all of the time.

  • I've seen her more recently than when she was bugged. I've also played against the twins twice in one week, weird times.

  • Meh.

I'll get the characters with shards eventually but I'm in no rush. I hate that there are two survivors to buy and level (seriously, this is the 4th chapter with two survivors).

Red forest maps just get a visual update so they're still going to be bad to play on.

    Shelter Woods looks interesting though.

The nerf to eruption is genuinely the best part about this update.

  • If they're going to killswitch based on audio occlusion issues, then basically every map in the game needs to be killswitched.

Seriously. Audio occlusion has been a huge issue for many years, it just hasn't affect survivors much until now.

Plague: Corrupt, Thana, Deadlock, Dying Light/COB

Legion: Corrupt, Thana, Pain Res, Jolt

Notice a trend? Corrupt is near mandatory on 90% of the roster.

I wouldn't recommend Corrupt on Legion but if it works for you, I won't knock it

  • With how popular windows of opportunity has been lately, I have been getting some value out of blindness. I agree that it's definitely not worthy of being a green or purple add-on though, additionally smiley face pin should work like the yellow rarity ruler (applies the status effect on frenzy hit instead of solo mend).

  • Plague. Boring to play, boring to play against and I hate vomit.

As for survivor, idk, I feel like I've seen toxic plays from every survivor at this point. I'll just go with one of the two new survivors, either one. There's no reason for two survivors in a single chapter unless they're iconic characters (and even then they could be alternate skins).

  • @Peanits said:

Killer Instinct is solely use in Killer powers (and their add-ons) at the moment. We try not to make perks or items that counter a specific Killer. Legion, for example, would be hit hard by this.

Perks countering perks, a-ok, that's fair game, every Killer has access to the same perks. But severely limited some Killers' powers but not others, that's where things get rocky. Some Killers may have aspects of their power that can be countered with perks , such as The Doctor & Calm Spirit, but whereas Killer Instinct is exclusive to Killer powers, there are many sources of screams (perks, actions, etc.) that that make it non-exclusive.

Does this also apply to items? I remember when Trapper's beartraps could be destroyed with toolboxes (rightfully removed IMO) but Hag, Wraith and Nurse still have odd interactions involving flashlights.

If a perk is single-handedly carrying you, you should stop using it.

    DH is fine.

DH is the epitome of "if a perk is single-handedly carrying you, you should stop using it." Seriously, the amount of survivors who are lost without it is insane. The amount of DCs I get when I downed someone after frenzying because they were deep-wounded and couldn't use their extend chase button is unreal.

However, it's in the game and so we should feel free to use it, even if it's a crutch. It's still by far one of the strongest perks even after the rework so chances are it's going to remain meta for a long time.

A perk saving you from a bad situation is one thing. A well-timed Adrenaline is certainly clutch but is anything but consistent.

Still, I don't agree with the sentiment of "if you can't win without it, you shouldn't have it".

Perks are there to help you win, that's their entire purpose (with the exception of No Mither). I'm not saying OP perks don't need to be looked at, lord knows Eruption needed toning down and some other perks still need to be looked at (one rhyming with shmead shmard).

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3350513#Comment_3350513

That's called getting carried by perks.

If a perk is letting you win against players that are better than you, then you shouldn't have it in the first place.

Isn't this almost every perk in the game though? I've lost track of the amount of times I would've been sacrificed if it weren't for adrenaline, or the amount of times a killer's pressure has been foiled by CoH. Equally there have been many games I would've lost as killer if I hadn't been using thana or discordance.

Like, honestly, if I went perkless and addonless as killer my MMR would hit rock bottom within a week and I haven't even been using eruption.

  • The lobby dodging is more frustrating tbh. They really should just hide prestige levels, at least until the post match screen.

  • Maybe it wasn't rushed, but considering Background Player even got to PTB, it certainly wasn't well thought out.

You have so many killers like that so go play them. Also, you get more of them to come Im pretty sure. If every killer was like that then the game would be boring for everyone. Survivors will get bored going against the same type of killer every match. Just ask Otz and other high-hour survivors how much they are tired of only seeing blights and nurses every match. If every killer was a chase killer their powers will start overlapping a lot. We already seeing it happen with Wesker. How is his power any different than the nurse's or blight's power? His Dash is basely a combo of their powers into one power. Having different killers is a very very good thing for the game. No one is forcing you to buy the killers you find boring or making you play them. You have plenty of choices for high-speed killers with chase powers and Im pretty sure you have even more to choice from going forward.

If we had more killers of a similar power level to Nurse and Blight, higher level play will see more variety.

I hate people who try to get perk value when it's not needed. If I'm going for the save, I'll most likely be injured and still have enough space to make it to a tile. They become tunnelling targets then dc because of it

Agreed. Unfortunately the only methods of solving this issue would be to remove the conspicuous action part entirely (which would be all kinds of OP) or dramatically reduce the duration of the endurance effect (the rest of the perk is fine as is).

Literally every person hits the unhooked person so they waste time mending. And if we really want to go there, let's not pretend and act like we aren't in a meta of tunnel/proxy camping near a hook. A lot of killers hover around the hook if they can defend it and a 3 gen. All I did was say to force them to not be on gens.

Also I main a killer with mobility so it's not like I'm actually wasting time when I can easily engage chase after hitting the unhooked person and going after the unhooker

Ok, so for campers and high mobility killers, I agree that this could be a decent time investment.

I primarily play Legion and if I happen to be around the hook when an unhook happens, I will try to get a chain going off of both survivors. When I'm not playing Legion though, I'm not going to travel a sizeable portion of the map just to deny one perk that they might not even use aggressively.

Right now the meta is holding a three gen from the start with eruption, not camping/tunneling. When eruption gets gutted, we will probably go back to Pain Res + Dead Man's which will heavily punish hook trades and synergise with camping so maybe hitting the unhooked might be less of a time sink then.

Of course none of what anyone has said so far addresses the problem that I have with the perk when I'm playing as a survivor with someone who does nothing just to get value from the perk.

  • No, but there would be more variety if they were.

  • With shards, eventually. I'm in no rush to get their perks and as of right now I don't have much interest in playing the killer.

  • @AverageKateMain said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3346427#Comment_3346427

Did I say to tunnel? No. My method is force them into deep wound so they have to mend and if you encounter them again then boom no OTR. It's like you guys want to deliberately twist my words just to argue

Oh, I see. Your method of dealing with the perk is to pretend to tunnel and then abandon chase once all the anti-tunnel measures have been exhausted. I got it now.

No sane person is going to do that. You'd waste way more time than they would have if you had ignored them and they saved their OTR. Not only that but at the point in which you know they have no defenses (OTR gone, DH unusable due to deep wounds. Maybe they have DS but no one really uses that despite it still being decent) why wouldn't you hook them again?

The only scenario I can see your method actually being good is if you're camping the hook, at which point you're either already losing the game or you're a [BAD WORD].

  • @AverageKateMain said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3345958#Comment_3345958

Well they themselves said they can at least wait out the BT so how can that not be about tunnelling? They also mentioned 80 seconds of safety when the easiest thing is to hit them 1 second after being unhooked and OTR is gone

So your method of denying OTR is to encourage tunneling and camping?

You're only going to be 1 second away from the unhook if you're camping or the unhooking survivor is extremely cocky.

I mean not even trickster got this much hate on release (Btw people did complain abt Spirit and Susie lol). People call her design generic and bland yet we got deathslinger who just wears a brown coat yet somehow hes so amazingly designed not one person complains abt him lol

I'll admit I didn't frequent the forums around Spirit or Legion's release as I was still new to the game at that time so you could be right, I don't feel like digging years back in the forums.

My personal opinion is that the new killer looks pretty good but I don't like how clean she is. As for the Fortnite comments, she does resemble a few skins from Fortnite mashed together.

  • Yes. People are mad she's a female human killer.

Just like they were angry when Nurse, Huntress, Hag, Spirit, Plague, Twins and Artist came out. Legion nearly got out free but then we found out you could play as Julie and Suzie so naturally everyone began to riot.

Are you saying you want a free down after someone was unhooked? It's weird how you guys will argue and not see the entitlement

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you appear to be under the assumption that @GlamourousLeviathan is strictly talking about tunneling.

There are many instances where, as a killer, you may not be tunneling but still hit someone with OTR endurance because it lasts for over a minute. Now you could make the argument that said survivor has wasted time because they haven't done anything to progress the game since being unhooked, that's totally valid.

Truthfully, I don't have a problem with OTR as a killer- it's when I play survivor and notice someone doing absolutely nothing just so they can preserve their endurance that annoys me.

  • I'm in the EU and most of the time there's a killer incentive. Fairly early in the day (morning/early afternoon) there's usually a survivor incentive, 50% usually but sometimes 100%. Late afternoon it varies quite a bit, sometimes I log on and survivor has a 25% incentive but most of the time it's a killer incentive, ranging from 50% to 100%. From the evening and into the night it's almost always a 100% killer incentive.

  • You realise this could also make survivor queue times worse, right? If not many people want to play the "on-demand" killers, both survivors and the people who play popular killers will end up waiting longer.
