I give up because I refuse to sit on a gen for ages against a legion with gift of pain, thana, dying light and pentimento.
As has already been said multiple times on this forum, the fun parts (looping) of the game got shortened, the boring parts (gens) now take longer. I load into a match expecting some interaction with my teammates and the killer, not to play M1 simulator.

Huntress <3 you never know if it’s a machine gun huntress or a sniper who can take you out from the other end of the map

It's good to see people unhappy with the patch actually suggesting proposed changes.
But practically the changes to chase would probably be the worst ones to revert. Having gotten used to the new speeds it would feel like having a reversed brutal strength and sbtfl every match, idk how many killers would be willing to go back to that.
The gen speed increase, killer slowdown perks and buffing the survivor base endurance/speed might be better targets.
So you suggesting they revert the basekit 5 sec BT and haste off hook? It’s not like killers haven’t been waiting out BT before the patch, is it?
and I don’t see any problems with off the record. Many people just see the OMG THIS SURVIVOR IS UNTOUCHABLE FOR 80 SEC THATS NOT FAIR while completely forgetting that this survivor is also USELESS to their team for the whole duration and just like DS off the record is deactivated in endgame so you can still get your well deserved kill.
that’s why I don’t run DS or off the record because I don’t want to lurk around the map doing nothing for over a minute straight.

He didn't make the changes. Devs did. You are confusing symptom of the desease with the disease itself.
Unfortunately nothing the devs do will stop a bad teammate being bad. You can be the best looper, the most altruistic teammate, the best gen jockey out there, but if even one of your teammates is doing nothing you can’t win because it’s a 4v1 and not a 3v1 or 1v1.

How are your teammates being trash the KILLER'S fault exactly?
Slowdown doesn't make that happen, it just benefits off of it.
I never said it was the killer's fault, all I said was that this patch was meant to shake up the meta. Survivors had to suck it up and accept their fav meta being gone so now I see a huge perk variety in my games. But all killers I've encountered still brought all slowdown perks.

Well lord knows if there wasn't a huge uproar about it, survivors would be quadruple stacking Endurance.
What slowdowns are we talkin here exactly? I keep seeing "4 slow down perks to win" but... No one really mentions any in particular that are a problem. And no, "Forever Legion" doesn't count cause the same would apply to Plague would it not?
I already shared my 46 minute long legion game experience, but for your better understanding: Hex plaything, Hex pentimento, thana, scourge hook gift of pain (that also got a buff recently - so paired with thana you're screwed either way, whether you heal or not).
For your even better understanding: I played solo Q and I'm sure my teammates were solos as well.
This legion got a 4k, no doubt about that. Since solo Q sucks on its own, it sucks even more if your teammates have no idea what to do in certain situations and stand there like a deer in headlights. What I mean by that is, we had 2 boon perks on our team (I had 1 and a teammate, so I wasn't the only one able to boon a hex totem), yet for some reason the 2 Mikaelas on my team still decided to break the plaything totems even after we KNEW it was pentimento.
How am I supposed to work around that as a solo survivor? I'm sitting on a gen for what feels like ages and my teammates are being more helpful to the legion than to their team giving him more pentimento stacks.

Are you implying thana legion was fine BEFORE?
Thana legion before the patch was a mild annoyance compared to the ones I've been facing post-patch with slowdows STACKED onto each other. Yeah, that was totally not the dev's intention to "shake up the meta" so killers wouldn't need to bring 4 slowdowns but here we are seeing it being used and abused ^^

I want killer stop camping and tunneling at 5 gens maybe basekit kindred or up the basekit BT not sure.
also give survivors and killers basekit BP bonus like we use to get from perks BBQ&C and WGTLF.
I'll be happy
And I want my solo Q teammates to do gens and not go down in 3 seconds. But here we are.
The main problem with all these balances and changes is that if a Bubba wants to camp - he's still gonna camp, even if the devs gave him millions of incentives to leave the hook. Some people just do it out of spite, some do it because they enjoy the end-game salt and others do it because it's a guaranteed win to camp one survivor to death until a gen pops since a 3v1 scenario when gens take even longer is unwinnable on the survivor side.

I played killer all day yesterday to try out the perk changes and new game play mechanics. It is much less stressful not having to deal with dead hard on every survivor every chase. Won some, lost some, tried out some goofy builds now that I have nearly every perk t3 on every killer. Which by the way I wouldn't have dared try in the former meta. So okay, good there, switched over to see how the other side is living.
Survivors are literally throwing.
I don't know if this is like some form of protest because dead hard got nerfed or an attempt to artificially inflate the kill rates so killer buffs get reverted but NO ONE is even trying to do gens. Every time I chase for a bit and eventually get hooked I see survivors jumping in and out of lockers or clustered around the hook.
Guys what happened?
We couldn't keep you off gens before you wouldn't even do totems now no survivor is even trying I did two gens last game solo we got 4k'ed with 3 gens left. It's like the Spirit DC protest all over again.
DO THE GENS
To be fair, I'm still trying my best even if I'm playing with 3 other solos.
But taken a game I had today against Legion with thana, hex plaything, hex pentimento and scourge gift of pain... If there was an option to give up I would've done that. Because all my teammates did was healing and breaking totems even though after the first pentimento stack they KNEW it was in the game (and 2 of us had a boon, so we could've played around that).
This game went on for a solid 46 minutes, do you honestly think I will still be trying if all of us are dead (and we all died) after the 3rd gen popped 40 minutes into the game? Not to mention that I was pretty much the only one who was still trying to do gens while the other 2 Mikaelas were busy giving the legion more pentimento stacks.

I just had a legion game where an extremely obvious bully swf just simply gave up partway into the match because they simply didn't want to play with the gen speeds I had forced them to. I was running thana, thrilling tremors, surveillance, and oppression. They finished one gen but it was obviously going to require too much of a time investment for them to continue the game, and they weren't going to get the satisfaction of stomping on a killer, so they just simply locker-hopped to annoy me until I finally hooked them all.
These are the kind of survivors that are going to be very vocal about how the balance in this patch is too killer-sided. So enjoy your slowdown builds while they last, I can't imagine bhvr not listening to the bully swf people who want to be able to feel invincible again.
"The devs brought out a new patch where gen repair time was increased so killers would be motivated to try out perks other than gen regression/slowdown. Let me slap on some thana on my legion and see how survivors react."
What did you expect? I understand why they gave up, I wouldn't want to sit on a gen for ages cause it's boring.
That being said, enjoy the so called SWF because they're the ones you will be (exclusively) facing after this patch since solo players will probably quit.

But then they have lot more data than you, are you sure they are that "out of touch"?
In this case - yes, they are out of touch.
Taken the MMR system as an example. They do have the "data" of all your escapes via exit gates. So that's what they base your MMR on,because this is the ONLY condition for your +MMR.
But does it really represent what kind of player you are, especially in solo Q where YOUR win depends on 3 other people? The so called data doesn't care how many gens you repaired, how many teammates you unhooked, how long you looped the killer for so your team could do the gens, how altruistic you've been in game by taking chase/protection hits when someone else was injured or dead-zoned. NONE OF THAT MATTERS if you didn't make it through the gate.
And for all the "git gud" arguments - even if I'm able to loop the killer for 5 gens, there's no guarantee that after I finally go down the said 5 gens will be done. You know why? Because it's solo Q and everyone is doing god knows what.
That's why MMR is complete BS and will continue to be until they rework the factors playing into increasing/lowering each one's individual MMR.
That's why you get into MMR hell, meaning you may be a competent survivor but get thrown into lobbies with newbies or baby survivors, because 1 person can't carry all 4 to victory if he's the only one trying.

I dont play SWF and Im main killer I do play killer cuz I pass of getting potatoes but thats but just mmr problem
I found surv that even repair in killer face when im looping really close and then I got those who just crouch in a corner or those who have a crow crown all game but you know? I dont cry
Wow,what a coincidence! Me too. I only get potatoes as teammates, but I can't play killer because the queue times are too long. ^^
And with the direction BHVR is going after this patch, seems like queue times for killers will be getting worse and the only survivors left in game will be SWF.

I have no desire to get free wins whatsoever. I also have no desire to see survivors get free wins because of having access to broken mechanics like Dead Hard, and dozens of ways to fix their own mistakes.
The game has not been in the killer's favor for awhile now. This patch finally brought them back to a place they should be. And even with these changes, survivors will eventually adapt and find new strategies. They're just not used to having to actually be skillful, since they're so accustomed to abusable perks and strats that net them easy wins and trolling the killer. Now that's become harder to do, so they whine on the forums about how unfair the game is, even though it isn't.
In time, the dust will settle. If there are any problems after that, then those things will be adjusted. If survivors are doing so poorly as the forums claim, they'll be looked at, and adjusted accordingly. Just like always.
I have no problems with this patch other than it did the opposite of what it was supposed to do. Gen times were increased so killer wouldn't have to bring all slowdown perks and could try out other/different/funny builds without being punished for not bringing the meta.
But this is exactly and exclusively what I've encountered in every single match. Doesn't matter if it's a trapper, a legion or a huntress. All of them ran thana, pop and/or scourge hooks/overcharge.
So now I have 30-40 minute long matches as a solo survivor. Increasing the gen repair time was perfectly fine, but I think the devs forgot about 1) slowdown perks still being stackable and 2) sitting on gens is boring as hell, imagine holding M1 for over 2 minutes.

Why on earth are you running Head On instead of Borrowed Time, Kindred, or ANY exhaustion perk?
I don't know what you're going for, but Quick & Quiet + Head On looks more like you wanted to spam locker stuns instead of actually doing something useful, like surviving.
That wouldn't necessarily fix the 'camped on first hook' problem, but I mean come on. That's not a build to run unless you're SWF Comms to set up locker saves.
Isn't THAT the whole point of the update? Encourage people to use different perks? I bet most killers would prefer solo Qs with q&q + head on than someone with sprint burst, fixated and vigil.
Your "that's not a build to run.." sounds very off to me, reminds me of the days where people would rage quit if they got unhooked without BT event though the killer was nowhere nearby (BUT BUT BUT BUT THEY DIDN'T BRING BT *crying in survivor*).
Maybe we should stop shaming people for perks they use.

You can't bully killers like you used to. The base meta kit to bully killers was gutted. And you hate it. The extra 10 seconds? Forcing you to cooperate instead of antagonizing the killer into chasing you. The 2% cooldown on attacks? Forces you to pick your unhook time a bit better. The increased bloodlust accrual? Forces you to try and and get creative in losing us for a chase.
Because you can't bully killers into quitting anymore, many are throwing a fit. However, look at this patch like this;
It gives everyone experimentation amd freedom to practice characters and perks they've never tried because of the previous Meta.
If I was the one to quit, I would do it because a game against legion with 4 slowdowns (thana, gift of pain, pentimento etc) as a solo survivor now takes 30-40 minutes on average.

@Phantom_ said:
It's a combination of too many changes at the same time. They were supposed to 'change' the meta, but they only managed to truly do that for one side; the survivors.
As killer, you still have a lot of very good stackable gen-regression perks at your disposal. But god forbid survivors get to stack anything. Camping wasn't addressed & tunneling got incentivised more so due to 1 perk that gave a survivor a slight advantage aka OTR. But also because it's overall easier to do so thanks to all the base killer buffs. As for their plans for SoloQ, it was all talk & no show.
Let's not forget that game is soon going to be on sale and a lot of new players will be added to the bowl. With MMR "working" as it does, Solo is probably going to get worse.
Just had a roughly 46 minutes game against a legion with thana, scourge hook gift of pain, hex plaything and pentimento. Spoiler alert: all of us died at 2 gens still remaining. Second spoiler: Map we played on was Azarov's resting place.
Now let that sink in

Dirty secret about "buffing solo queue". It won't help. No amount of information, UI, elements, hand holding, etc., will make the claudette stop hiding in a corner or cause a trolling teammate to turn helpful. Such a system would only serve to destroy what little horror atmosphere the game has and ruin a bunch of killer stealth perks/powers.
The biggest reason solo Q fails is it depends on a garbage mmr system, and the chance of said system actually grouping 4 survivors of similar skill is incredibly low.
I play with friends often but without comms. We are essentially playing "solo" together. We rarely even tell each other what builds we're running. We tend to have decent matches, not because we coordinate our builds and comms, but because we're all reasonably good survivor players. This is the true advantage that swf offers. Escaping the mmr hell random box of chocolates teammate lottery.
You made some good points.
In order for MMR to work "properly" changes have to be made to the whole system as to what counts as a WIN. So far the only thing increasing your MMR is how often you escape through the exit gate. No matter how many gens you've done, teammates saved/healed, how long you ran the killer.... all of that doesn't matter.
So technically the bush Claudette that hasn't been seen by the killer for the entire match and waited for her teammates to do all the work so she can escape - gets +MMR while the other 3 survivors who did the gens and the looping are left to die.
Now imagine you being one of the 3 survivors who normally do the objective and are able to run the killer for a reasonable amount of time load into a lobby with 3 Claudettes... Don't need to tell you how this match is gonna go, do I?

@Risky_Biscuit said:
So are killers supposed to play suboptimally ? If gen regression perks are being used, then aren't killers just playing in a way that makes sense ? It's still their job to prevent escapes, and gen regression helps aid that.
I think the intention behind the update was to "shake up the meta", allowing both sides to use a variety of perks without the fear of being punished for not running meta. This means for killers that they don't HAVE TO bring 4 slowdowns to have a good game and for survivors that they don't HAVE TO bring BT, DS, iron will,UB etc.
From my experience (Solo Q survivor 2.1k hours), it worked on the survivor side. Dead hard has been replaced with sprint burst or lithe, BT is no longer mandatory and I've seen some funny perk builds. As far as the killers I've encountered, all of them ran stacked slowdown perks. Maybe it is (as someone on another thread suggested) that some of them haven't read the patch notes and/or forgot to change up their build, maybe it's because they still fear being genrushed, I have no idea.
But to some extent I agree, the games have been kinda lame and boring and unbearably long (especially against legion). I would like killers to bring some funny builds as well, like full basement build, no terror radius build, mad grit build etc., but I guess it's not happening and we're still stuck in the "pain res, thana, corrupt" era, so nothing has really changed.
The queue times for survivor tho have never been this quick so that's a good thing ^^
-
As a survivor main with 2.2k hours, I mostly liked the update. And I can't really understand why so many people are complaining. Reading all the survivor tears on the forum I thought escaping as survivor would be impossible after the update dropped, but having played some solo games and escaping 70% of the time I knew it wasn't as bad as people thought.
I agree, solo Q is a nightmare, but was it any different before the patch? Let's be honest, there's always this one teammate who's hiding in lockers, the one DCing after being downed/hooked, the bush camping Claudie urban evading when someone else's death timer on hook is about to run out or teammates just running around doing nothing... And it will always be like that unless you're playing SWF, because not everyone loads into a match with the intention to escape no matter what.
The DS nerf is probably the only thing that concerns me since it's basically useless against certain killers now. Even before the nerf, a blight or a nurse could easily catch up to you after the 5s stun as if your DS never happened, now it's gonna be even worse. If they wanted to balance this perk to help out basic M1 killers (which is fair enough), they should've applied some restrictions to the S tier killers who eat DSs for breakfast.

I agree. There are a lot of people at their current MMR bracket because their perks for Survivors and, for Killers, camping and tunneling and/or NOED put them there.
Since a lot of people (understandably) don't think about the long term effect of game mechanics there'll be a lot of people affected. I only played meta perks as Survivor when I hit Iri grade to help with pipping and then removed all meta perks but DS once I hit Iri One and I don't camp or tunnel as a Killer.
Why? It's more fun if I don't and I settled at an MMR where I don't need meta perks or camping or tunneling. When I used meta perks my games got tons easier but I removed them as soon as I hit Iri One and suffered losses so I didn't require them in the future.
Looking at the whole picture helps but some people don't due to their bias. We've seen arguments that BHVR is killer sided to survivor sided to you need to camp and tunnel to win to no, you don't and even to such lengths as attempting to claim that multiple hooks are feasible after all gens are done and the only thing left for the survivors is open an exit gate and walk out. All of these incompatible positions are claimed by someone at the exact same time.
Players can't change game mechanics and can only adapt to them. I know it'll be rough for some but I think if people stick around, try to adapt, and don't feed into their biases but rather try to figure out how to adapt they'll have a more enjoyable time playing in the long term.
Thank you for getting my point. That's why I don't use NOED or play insidious bubba when I play killer. And in my experience, if you do get your 3k/4k that way, you're going to suffer in higher MMR because you got to that point not because of efficient gameplay or fast chases/winning mindgames, but because the game THINKS that if you had 3k/4k games, you must be skilled and good at the game. That's the sad reality of how MMR is working.
Same goes for survivors. I used to play in a SWF every single day for multiple hours and my MMR skyrocketed. So logically when I started playing solo Q again, the killers were the sweatiest of their kind (we're talking range/recharge nurses and blights with alchemist ring who play comp and probably never touched grass in their life JK) and I started losing every game. Because I was the "boosted" survivor and my MMR was only this high because someone else in my SWF did the looping while I was doing gens. But the only thing that matters is - I escaped via exit gate, so +mmr.
As long as the "winning" condition in the game doesn't get changed, there will always be "boosted" survivors, "boosted" killers or "carried by NOED killers" or whatever you wanna call it.
But I appreciate BHVR taking a step towards balancing the game in the next patch. Maybe in the future all the factors that truly represent skill in this game will also be included in the MMR system so it can be more accurate.

The meta change is really unnecessary, why did they do it like 6 years later and not something in the beginning of the years of DBD? Many of my friends are gonna uninstall/stop playing after the update, and it really makes me feel sad about them leaving the game when we used to play a lot! They completely nerfed all perks to garbage and they want us to get used to new perks.. like after using the same perks for 1-2 years, they are forcing us to new perks which we all don’t like. Many camping and tunneling after the update which is gonna be really annoying.
What are your thoughts about it?
The ones leaving will be the ones relying on their crutch and meta perks way too much. A good looper will still be good without DH and iron will, a bad killer will still be bad with built in STBFL and brutal strength. Or even better, a good looper will time their new DH perfectly and get away, as always.
My old build was DH, iron will, BT and CoH, but after distancing myself from the "meta" I feel like I'm enjoying the game much more. Believe it or not, now I can be proud of myself for escaping a chase because I know I did it because I just used the tile/environment to my advantage and not because I had dead hard.
-
I mean it's a bit unfair that (just as an example) the artist can't use her power in a certain range next to a hooked survivor (which would only injure the survivor,if hit directly and in close proximity to the summoned birds), but Oni can pop his instadown as soon as he sees the person who came for the rescue and down both of them, given the "unhooker" didn't bring BT.
Same thing with Dredge, he can't teleport right next to the hook if there's a locker nearby (the locker is then shown as "blocked" by the entity), but nurse with range/recharge add-ons blinking back and forth from the other end of the map to check on the poor soul hanging from the hook doesn't seem to be a problem.
Personally, I see a consistency here. The new killers (trickster might be the exception to this rule tho, if you ever met a camping trickster, you know what I mean) are being somewhat limited as to how and from how far away they can camp, but the "older" killers don't seem to have any limitations whatsoever.
This is just an idea, but the mechanic of pyramid-head's cages seems to be really interesting if the devs want to take a closer look at preventing camping in the future. Since the killer doesn't know exactly where the caged survivor will spawn, the survivors would have time to go for the unhook. Hell, since this game is so RNG based, the "hook" could also spawn in the basement if you're lucky as killer. The point is that you don't know that. There could be a timer (like the killer gets to see the hook after 5/15/30 etc. seconds and the general rules of hooking/hooks should be worked on as well), but I think this is something worth considering.
I am aware that this mechanic has many flaws and might require perks/tiles/generator and hook spawn locations being reworked, it's just a thought that crossed my mind since I have been seeing more and more posts and complaints about camping, especially since the new update was announced and many content-creators voiced their concerns that even though tunneling has been addressed, camping will still be the elephant in the room.

Welcome to MMR hell. You will discover that this is not just an expression, but an actual thing.
You lose because your teammates suck, your MMR drops and you keep getting progressively worst teammates because of this, so you keep losing. At this level the babiest of baby killers with no perks can slaughter your team easily.
There is no escape, abandon all hope and submit to the void.
You can only get out with at least 2 other friends who are willing to rescue you from hell.
And then all the killer mains will complain about SWFs
