  • If someone cannot use PGTW within 45 seconds, there is something seriously wrong with their playing.

  • I like Yui for Survivor, and Oni for Killer (although for licenced characters Pyramid Head probably tops it)

  • The best thing is ignore, report and move on. In most cases any response gives them exactly what they're after and just ends up making you feel angered and deflated.

If you really feel you want to get back at them via chat, firstly do not reply instantly. Get up and take a break. They're on your time, not the other way round. When you get back, try to either make humour out of it to attempt to make them laugh, or non-judgementally Socrates them (basically just respond with questions that show no emotion and seek to solely dig into them, even making them question their feelings). That's advanced, but if pulled off right it tangles them right up!

However, really the safest way to deal with it is ignore, report and move on.

  • It's the right change to make, and with the added buffs to his perks, if someone masters him, Pyramid Head will be even more devastating in the right hands!

  • Wait until the PTB. Yet on paper PGTW barely makes much difference at all (perhaps it makes Repressed Alliance more viable, but that's it), and Thanatophobia forces survivors moreso now than ever to forget doing gens and heal themselves. It may really make things tough for Survivors.

These changes look good on paper, and may make people create new perk combinations. Plus, I am looking for the Slippery Meat Kobe Challenge!

  • I saw a Cybil today. My God, that luminous hair! (Love it!)

  • I actually think Perks and Killers vary in power similar to a difficulty level. Granted, Nurse and Spirit in the right hands is a nightmare to face, especially compared to Legion.

However, with practice Legion can be lethal. Takes time to learn, but any Killer can be monstrous! If all Killers were balanced equal, there is no difficulty to compete against.

I like how some Killers are weaker than offers, because when you 4K with a weak Wraith build, you know you're good.

Accept the challenge and see how well you can do.

  • Seems fair to me! He gets nerfed one way, but buffed another. His perks have also been given an overhaul.

If anything, he's been buffed with better perks and a quick cooldown from his PotD attack. Sure, the mind gaming is less viable, but the aggression factor increases.

Ultimately, let's be real here: People will bemoan his "nerf" until someone like Otzdarva or Monto releases a video of him being played right, and then a certain portion will start crying for nerfs again.

  • The changes feel great! It may encourage players to try different perks and add some more tactics. Trail of Torment especially will create more types of ambush.

Personally, I'm excited for them. :)

  • I'm probably missing something, but game health was what I thought the mid-chapter was for primarily?

I'd be in favour of a health chapter, but I'm not aware of what a lack of new characters' impact would be from a financial and publicity perspective for them. If they would be hit hard, then the health chapter may also be affected.

It would be an idea I'd be on board with, but I'm not sure how viable it would be.

Personally, other than dc's, my experience of the game currently is very positive. In terms of skill, I'm facing the right people, even if the ranks are off.

  • I'd apply a shorter time frame to how long survivors can been hooked in the basement for, and apply the current Monstrous Shrine settings to any other hook.

  • Since the 4.2.2 patch I've been having fun as Killer again. The issues with stuttering and hooks has gone for me, and also as Survivor with the stuttering. Glad to finally have the game playable again. :)

  • Use the firearm on someone else, and plant it on your sister. That way she goes to jail for life, allowing you to watch all the tiktok vid.. I mean all the songs you like!

  • Getting chased by a giant mesh of raspberry jelly with that uncharacteristically bouncy theme tune ... my God, that'll be an experience!

  • There would probably need to be a big overhall to make it scarier. The main issue is, once people have experienced the initial uncertainty, the familiarity will erase any fear. Watching PT on YouTube becomes non-scary after a few watches.

To truely make it scary, you'd need to make it completely unpredictable. Have maps change drastically with each trial; add additional environmental hazards; expand on the variety of add-ons and killer abilities; add random additional tests (a little like Among Us) when doing gens or healing, to keep survivors on edge. It would have to be something that disadvantages survivors, otherwise it won't be scary.

However, with SWF, it'll never be that scary, and that's a fundamental issue which will always compromise fear.

The best way to make it in anyway scarier is to make it very unpredictable. Any simple cosmwtic changes won't be enough.

  • Whilst in the game's current state I'd say no, actually having guns available may make the game more intense. My reasoning for this is that by adding guns then Killers probably also get buffs. Maybe the guns could be stronger, but Killer speed is increased, or some other mechanism is put in place to make them more threatening. Not sure what though.

everyone should do this get these type of people off the game.

Agreed. Just don't feed them the satisfaction of knowing they annoyed you. Make them irrelevant.

  • I understand a lot of people hate this map, especially from a Killer perspective. Yet for me as Killer this is one of my best maps.

It's a map that really benefits me as a mid-game strategy. The gens are relatively spaced out, but the spacing is predictable and simple enough for a 4-5 gen strategy.

There are a lot of areas to be looped, but likewise there's a lot of areas to mind game.

As Survivor it certainly feels easier to escape, but maybe it's just a map I am good at from both sides.

Strange, since in every other game I don't like snow-related levels.

  • I had a similar incident a couple of months back with a Huntress. Maybe it was because I am a patient individual I recorded it and sent it on (one profile has since been deleted as I cannot find it). Didn't communicate with them after.

If you do get angry, before you act on anything get up and walk out the room. Say whatever you want out loud, punch whatever object you want, but get it out of your system before returning to the computer. The moment you show your anger to those types, you've already lost. It also adds to the increasing negativity around and will carry with you.

  • I can't remember any decent roasts against me (I'm sure there have been).

I've done a few quick response roasts. At school, this dick used to try to bully me to make himself look good in the eyes of the cool kids (who told me they couldn't stand him). He lived on a farm. When he tried to dig at me in front of them, I responded "I thought you're meant to spread your s**t on the fields, not in the common room". He flipped.

  • Same with me. It's so frustrating to lose chases on either side because of this. I understand they have a fix coming this week for the hooks. I'm hoping they've resolved this as well when it comes out. I miss playing the game at present, but it's not fun to play in its current state.

  • I'd agree, so long as there is an audio and visual prompt to show that the trap has been disarmed and ready to pick up. Otherwise it would just be a guessing game of where the trap is.

  • Camping is - in a large number of cases - self-defeating. Really, unless it's securing a hook during the endgame or knowing another Survivor is close by, there would be no solid meaning in doing this. It's definitely allowed but it would only disadvantage that one Survivor. The rest can blitz through to the endgame, easily beat the Killer and basically give the Killer a boring match.

Tunnelling can help. If I get the chance, I'll down an unhooked survivor, but won't rehang them. DS is always a probability. Yet knocking them out delays the game and is a good tactic to keep people off gens. Plus, Survivors have the option of BT, or their savior taking a protective hit. There's also the idea of out-playing the Killer to escape a down.

NOED has been discussed so many times that it's just dull to talk about. It's a powerful endgame perk which may/ may not be used and has counters. Nothing wrong with it.

Moris. Now, I wouldn't be unaccepting of a nerf, providing Keys are too. Both add-ons provide the player with a way to end games early. It wouldn't work if either were nerfed but not the other. In the meantime, there's no reason not to use either.

Basically, in a game of survival such as this you use whatever you have to achieve your objective.

  • Due to his hunched nature, it would be fun to see a Nosferatu skin for The Blight.

Disconnecting grants 0 bloodpoints, pair this with the matchmaking penalty, they should put people that D/C with others that D/C

This seems like the best solution currently. The timed bans have thus far proven exploitable by hackers. Not to say there would be no way of hacking that, but perhaps creating a server to dump repeat offenders in may be a better punishment.

  • It sometimes feels to me that "crutch" is used as an excuse for a loss or poor performance. There's nothing wrong in realising what was done didn't work. Just learn and move on.

  • I just had a cocky, bloody Dwight continuously teabag and get me to chase them. One hit shortly afterwards, followed by stepping in a trap and they dc'd.

It may have been Friday 13th that had a lobby purely for cheaters or something? Dbd would probably be best to follow that example, since presently any penalty system done so far has been hacked.

  • There may be a few who wait to teabag because of a Killer face-camping and such, but mostly it's just willy-waving. Pointless pixel polka. If I see a hatch open I'm going to take it. Besides, stealthier Killers have managed to punish those survivors on rare occasions. Not worth the risk for the escape.

  • It would be too overpowered in favour of survivors. Whispers and BBQ & Chili would be insufficient to counter it, and if the quote you put at the bottom suggests Kindred should be on constantly (I'm not saying you said this, btw) it would defeat the atmosphere and have too much information.

There won't ever be a suitable counter to SWF, and taking it away would lose a decent portion of their fanbase. Their best bet is to create a ranked mode which offers higher rewards, but does not let SWF in. Keep SWF in the game, but introducing a mode without it that you can earn more for (whereby you need currency to get in, either by being earnt through the basic game mode or paid for) would turn the game into how it should be.

  • If I could slap the stupid mask off his 10 year old face I would agree. :D

  • There are lots I'd want from Survival Horror games. Silent Hill The Room; Outlast; Alien Isolation; Deadly Premonition; Eternal Darkness; Fatal Frame 3. So many.

I wouldn't want Chucky. I just cannot be fearful of a toy.

  • Not the best map in terms of Dbd, but the love put into the map with regards to detail and loyalty to the game is brilliant

  • It can't be impossible if you already have 2 of the three required! May take longer, but not impossible.

  • Create a karma system, which is visible by your name. If someone exceeds a set figure, they get put into lobbies only with people with equal or more bad karma.

That way, people won't need to worry about bans, since those players may not be finding many matches available to them.

The karma system could be colour coded, which updates when a set number of dc's are done. That way, legitimate people who dc via power cuts shouldn't be punished.

  • There is still some opportunity for Supernatural Killers. Here's a few very brief and basic ideas:

The Poltergeist: Known as the "noisy ghost", this could be a stealth Killers whose terror radius is an increasing cacophony of bangs, smashes, etc. It could have an ability which starts off weak, but as more gens are done it gets much more powerful (their hauntings start weak, then become more devastating, according to stories). Could be a projectile type Killer?

DPHE (Demonic Possessed Human Entity): This ghost could be the answer to an imposter-type Killer, except it has the ability to teleport through survivors (granting the survivor it teleported from some invincibility), or having a survivor which it sees as its "possessed", and can teleport within a radius of that survivor. That power would need limitations. Maybe it can use "Sight" (like Forbidden Siren) to see through survivor eyes?

Demons: Known to attach to objects, this could be a "Prop Hunt" creature that can become an object such as a chest or hook or pallets, amd able to move around the map.

Shadow People: A creature that could go through any objects and become invisible for a set period of time, providing it's looked at by survivors within a certain field of view (in tales, Shadow People would disappear if looked at directly, and only appear in the corner of your eye.

Doppelganger: These ghosts are known for looking like people, but lesser known is that they can appear in multiple places at the same time. This could have a power which disguises them, but also as in Identity V there's a Killer that creates a mirror image of itself, which moves in the same ways but at a distance, allowing the Killer to be in 2 places at once. Add-ons could increase the number. Also looks like the survivor it's nearest to, with some discernable differences.

  • It would be great to have some more survivors and killers in the game that have this fore-shadowing.

In fact, right below that entry you alluded to is a passage about someone who lured her victims with love. That's another Killer right there!

  • As Survivor: We'll Make It. Those quick heals make such a difference to keep people in the game. Resilience and Botany Knowledge also get a good mention.

As Killer: Lightborn. A group with torches is made pointless. I'd also give honourable mentions to Spies From The Shadows.

  • I like the idea done in another game (I've forgotten which) where cheaters were forced to play with their own kind. Maybe a dc alternative of this would work. Base the game on a karma system.

If the results screen report feature works, and there were markers in place when someone dc's, then it simply tallies up the karma and creates a separate area. With luck, those waiting times would be much longer, and the games more frustrating.

I'm uncertain how an afk could be combated, other than other players filing a report with video evidence. But if that's done, then they suffer the same fate.

The thing is, both camping and tunneling are sort of tactical here. Generally I won't facecamp unless I'm getting absolutely skunked or someone has taunted me, but I'll certainly patrol past hooked people and if I spot one limping away, I'm going for it (unless they boop the snoot of course). Similarly, if someone has a key or a souped up toolbox, I'm going to eliminate them as fast as possible.

Originally, I tried to avoid it - but too much BM from survivors when they get all 4 out, especially in postgame chat has made me ornery.

Yeah, and different tactics work for different people. I'm aggressive as a Killer, so if someone is unhooked in front of me I shall down the hooked one, but leave them to pursue the other. Make sure I keep survivors doing anything other than gens.

I think I've only ever been rattled once in post game chat, and that was because of so many bugs messing my game up after the recent patch. But I can see how - after many post-match comments - how it would make someone ornery.

Just to be clear, I'd never say anyone is wrong for doing what they choose to (heck, you paid for the game!). I just believe ignoring them is effectively p*****g on them as if they're nothing, which upsets them more as they feel ignored.

Sometimes though, a particular survivor deserves to be singled out and essentially tunnelled. I've had games where a survivor is tea bagging from the start, clicking their flashlight, getting in your way and generally being disrespectful to all the other players in the match.

Now that's a survivor who deserves to be face camped, or tunnelled out of the game in my opinion.

I do get that. There's no right or wrong way, but ignoring those who try it (to me) upsets them more, because what I'm saying effectively is: "You're not important". That's more upsetting to them, as they waste time trying to get attention, thereby wasting time when they could do gens, and will make them make mistakes.

Even if they're tunnelled and face-camped, they still may not care as they have the attention. No attention upsets them more, I believe.

  • If it was to find parts for gens then I would be on board, although there may be some balancing issues as a result. Not sure if I'd have it as a new way of escaping by itself, as it makes the Killer's already tricky task nearly impossible with more things to guard on its already busy schedule.

that is so true, even on my stream and my friends streams when they play killer, they feel like sometimes they are slower than usual, its very odd, and its only happening now, there is defo something fishy going on, you're not the only one friend

I actually have done a few more bits to improve fps on Xbox. It certainly shows on a couple of other games I'm playing, such as "The Evil Within" and "FrostPunk", but it's only made a minimal difference - certainly not anything to defeat the current issues at hand.

Maybe the graphical updates have contrasted with stuff which haven't, causing issues. But it's not great. I hope with the new survey they get it back to normal.

  • If they have play-tested it, something must have happened with the general role-out. Was it tested out on all platforms? I cannot imagine they tested this version and thought "Well, that's good enough!".

Either something happened when the patch was rolled out live that caused problems, or it wasn't tested.

Honestly, this entire update looks to be a shitshow and the devs should just revert back to 4.2.0. From what I’m reading, there’s a bug where you randomly slow down while running and some people are having their Ruin not activate (it was either that or it deactivated immediately, can’t remember).

That slow down is what's happening to me a lot. As survivor, it'll just bog down so the Killer catches me in no time. As Killer, the same applies and I end up in weird chases where Survivors are faster than I, even though there is no exhaustion perk in play.

I haven't tested this yet, but I've done all the suggestions in the video below. If anyone else also wants to try this and this makes any difference it would be good to hear:

    https://youtu.be/l_Rl8ZFrBno

But yeah, this update has been their worst update. And most of the time I back the devs and their hard work, but I cannot see how this was tested thoroughly before being put through.

I play on Xbox and the game feels much better since the new chapter released. I do get FPS drops sometimes, but it's not half as bad as it was before. I'm really enjoying the game atm.

That's really odd! My internet is good, and I've tested to see of the controller and other applications work, which they do. Maybe it's a regional thing? I'm in the UK.

I've found a YouTube page thay says there are some other things I can do my end, but I won't get to do that until tomorrow.

Still doesn't explain why there's such a performance drop and mine and others, whilst others like yourself seem to be having a better experience.

  • Xbox player here, and the hotfix hasn't done anything other than create further problems with fps.

Killer is even more awkward to play, and both killer and survivor have issues with slow down during chases or running in general. At present, as Killer I am actually slower at times than survivor, and as Survivor my character with feel like they're trapsing through treacle.

This hotfix has been very disappointing, considering. The game feels damaged, which is a shame since I enjoyed it a lot before the new chapter. Since then, the quality has really dipped, and I'm uncertain what else they can do, other than to revert all the new changes and spend a lot longer on optimisation.

It just feels like it's being rushed, and that's ever so sad to see.

  • I'd go for Jacob's Ladder as, not only my favourite horror, but also my favourite movie of all time. It's got a powerful emotional punch to it.

1 … 92 93 94 95 96 … 98
