Side question: But is it really such an issue that you meet up with the same Survivors over and over again as Killer? Because I personally have only ever met the same player once in recent weeks, I haven't been able to meet up with the same Survivors back to back. At least here in the WA Region.
Sure, some people have a "List", but they aren't really a majority. Most of your games you will still find Killers who don't know you, and probably won't remember you even if you two meet each other again.
Personally, I would prefer to go with Survivors being able to see the Killer's username since at least if you suspect someone has a "Hit" on you, you can dodge and matchmaking will fill up that lobby shortly after you leave.
I personally prefer to know who I am up against, sure I haven't been able to use that knowledge in recent weeks, but it usually leads to some funny conversations like this:
(For context, I saw a Survivor with the same username as the one I found a couple matches ago, so I decided to play with the exact same build I faced against them just for fun. It then lead to this weirdly wholesome exchange.)

(Yes I used Mother-Daughter Ring and Yakuyoke Amulet, I wanted to also guarantee I get kills that game.)
(And Yes, I will keep my promise if I see their name again.)
This may be way off topic, but how do you have all the icons "cartoon-ized?" Is that some kind of modification? I watch many streamers and what not (N00b3 and Monto mostly) and yet I see sometimes they have these animated icons (N00b3 more than anyone) I figured if it's some kind of mod that I myself could get in trouble for using it.

Killers shouldnt be able to see usernames since the only thing it does is promote toxicity yet killer mains will still try to defend it
I'd say it's the same reason killers are allowed to see the survivors before the game, to get a grasp of what they are up against

You have to spend at least 200 hundred dollars on cosmetics to earn the right to demand things of devs.
Sarcasm.
That's funny, but also not because I have a feeling you aren't too far off. I only ever get heard from them when I spend money and I don't get what I paid for. One time I paid about $70 worth of stuff on here and didn't get the Auric cells until I complained every day for about 2 weeks. Couldn't get a refund or anything and it was just atrocious
-
Actually I lied, as sucky as Spectrum can be... You can see that I have no issues with the connection to my games.
Again, if I wasn't being banned almost every single disconnect and my timer growing from 3 minutes to 3-12 hours in one day... I'd be ok with that, but I keep having some "disconnected from host" issues and perhaps it may be my internet hiccuping. But if that's the case, shouldn't I just lag spike really hard instead of being disconnected and banned for it?? Again, quitting to the main menu is something I'm all for banning... But when it's an actual disconnect (yes I know it's hard to tell because everyone who purposely disconnects just pulls the plug) can't we find some way to determine whether or not it's intentional or not?
-
@Respectfulnancymain said:
Lets say you were a dev for a day what changes would you make?
Fixing the dollar store servers for one. Then reworking the killers and survivors as well as maps to make the game an actual "horror game" rather than this babysitting simulator. Honestly this game is anything but frightening and I really like that I as a person who pays for good internet can't even get past a temporary ban timer because the game has a stroke mid game most the time. I may not know coding, but I know what the people want and what needs to be done to make things fair and it seems like the majority of the devs don't (somehow) have the time to do that? I know they all have families and what not but this game and it's servers push me to play something else lol
-
Ok so... This isn't really a "bug" or anything "game breaking" as much as it is completely ignorant on the end of development... I understand there is a DC penalty and I think it's a great idea to have one. But Spectrum, you know "Time Warner Cable" provide decent internet service (up until it crashes or just hiccups enough that I get disconnected from a game for about a minute or two.) Yeah well, onwards to my point... I'm not purposely disconnecting from my games, this is something entirely out of my hands. I have probably been disconnected about a total of 4-5 times in the past 2 days and I just got disconnected, so now I have a ban of 1 entire hour... In two days with only 4-5 disconnections that weren't even voluntary?? I can understand again someone just leaving a game... But seriously??? An hour?? Why even have the game installed if I can't even play it because every other 1 out of 15 games disconnects me? I'm literally afraid to play the game at all now because the damn timer keeps climbing... We don't need to NOT have a DC penalty, we need to have a damn limit on it, or something that helps to detect whether or not you lost internet or your chord was pulled (and I know it's hard to do that, but given how some players can't stand the thought of losing... Thank you btw for being the reason BHVR does this DC penalty) I can't even play a game I enjoy anymore.
-
Not to be that person who starts an argument... But how do you buy the wrong thing with a currency that you have to grind heavily for? If it was me (and I'm sure to do this everytime) I look at all my options and think hard on them all before making any purchases. Being 100% sure to have the right item before hand and then buying it. That's like going to the store to buy sugar and you accidentally bought salt... That's an issue you caused and they aren't entitled to make your problem their problem lol. Now I've bought Auric cells and never got them, frankly after arguing with the devs for about 8 days I finally got what I paid for because they wouldn't refund my purchase (nor would the platform I played on for they said all proceeds for in game currency go to BHVR) and that is bad consumerism to practice
-
I mean it's dependent on what rank you are, if your a high rank then probably yeah... Especially if you play killers that require a bit more skill level to play as but don't want to sweat every single game... But if your a low tier killer then enjoy the free 4k's (especially if you play Doctor and know how) because he just finds survivors way too fast and in a game full of randoms your better off looking for hatch than you are getting another game with better survivors lol
-
Some people group up at different ranks too you know, I've seen purples run with rank 20's

Never was, it was called that by survivors so they could avoid having to "git gud" ;)
Is that why most killers run it? It's one thing if someone uses a perk to make their game easier... It's another if EVERYONE is using it to make their game easier. Can it be countered? Yes, is it hard to counter it when your playing with random survivors? Absolutely because you can't do gens, save off hook, open doors and bust up totems all at once. I myself have never used Noed except here and there and still to this day never used a Hex perk and made it to red ranks with all sorts of killers being strong and outsmarting at loops... It's a crutch perk is what it is... A perk people rely too heavily on like Ruin to stack up a 4k because they feel entitled to it.
You want to claim your a good killer? I think people should start playing without any hex perks at all and playing more of other killers besides Myers, Billy, Bubba and Doctor. You can 4k without any of those killers around red to purple rank and have no hex perks at all (not to mention I've never ran BBQ because my bubba never got past level 10 on PC or Xbox) then we can start talking about "good killers" and what not. But as it stands, anyone that is survivor rank 10 and up playing randomly is not going to have a fun and "fair" game with killers who try to constantly find ways to instantly down and find people.

Not implying that your bad at the game or that the matchmaking isn't correct at all times but... This is pretty normal regardless, not to mention even though they all escaped you still scored more than all of them which means you were still able to keep up enough with them. I'm a Nurse main and I never used Ruin or NOED... Hell I don't even have BBQ yet and I've had plenty of games where I literally slaughtered the entire survivor team as killer with only one perk for them (the teachable.) There is a certain level of skill and dedication to achieving even the most impossible of games as long as you are willing to learn from your mistakes and losses. No one wins forever and we most certainly can't learn if we never lose.
When I lose a game I feel pretty bad about it like others because it's never fun to stress out and still achieve nothing, but when I start looking back at my mistakes and realize how they cost me dearly then I start to realize it's not the survivors or the items they have... It's me costing myself precious seconds with simple mistakes like being looped at the God pallets and what not too early in game or me chasing someone who is too good at looping instead of going after the gen jockeys.
If anything I was glad I faced red rank survivors on console at rank 12. I got my ass kicked like there was no tomorrow and because of that dedication I put towards the game, I am now a rank 7 and wiping the floor with survivors like I did back at 20 when they were all randoms. The game just requires a certain amount of skill, knowing how to mind game loops, and learning when it's time to back off and hunt the weaker players and when it's time to tunnel the one who wants your attention lol. Rank is a color, skill is something that is earned and can ONLY be achieved with failure first.

I know it sounds like I'm whining, but how is this actually fair? How am I supposed to improve when I get stomped on as killer all of the time. I could either wait in lobby as a survivor for 10 mins to find a game that goes terrible, or instantly find a game as killer against red rank/rank 1 survivors? I genuinely would like some advice in how to improve, other than just "get good" as I've played this game for 3 years and this has always happened to me

Yeah, and by better and better it's been constantly kicking me out from game after game. I still get credit for the stuff I do in the game, but it's still forcing me out of matches.
-
I've contacted both sides (Behavior Interactive and Microsoft) and both claim that they cannot do anything to redeem the in game currency or refund the purchases, but that the other can. Only difference in answer is that Microsoft doesn't ignore me over it...
-
It's one thing if I find a bug or some glitch, I understand that. But I am a legitimate paying customer who has basically at this point been robbed by what I would assume is a glitch in the store and they won't even take the time to just speak to me with a different agent. But to instead close our conversation and then ignore me... It's not something I would expect from any self respecting developer to do and I'm not trying to ######### on them but when you have someone who buys stuff from you and they don't get it and you refuse to even speak to them and solve it... That's a huge problem

But why and how is it okay ? Just tell us instead that they have many tickets and it can take a longer time. They even closed my follow up request just now. But they still hasnt closed my first ticket from 2 months ago.
Nice to know they kept your ticket open, they closed mine and said it was "solved" even though we both agreed that our discussion wasn't over and now ignore me.
-
The Auric Cells I paid for that's what I want for starters. Every ticket I have filed the devs tell me to take it up with Microsoft and all Microsoft tells me is that they basically just sell the game through the Windows store... As for anything else, maps to be changed up a bit, or at the very least different variations that could be slightly more killer/survivor sided when loaded. I think the random loading of maps would be a great time to test these out.
-
I was having a similar issue with a purchase for Auric Cells (3 now actually.) They kept telling me that the purchases go through Microsoft (I play on the Windows 10 edition of the PC game) but really it doesn't because everytime I try to explain this to Microsoft they inform me that they just run the game through their platform and that is it. I don't think the devs are ignoring us, I think they are overwhelmed or at least I hope they are... I'm missing money from my account that I have emails stating these purchases were made but I never got what I spent my money on for in game and they still closed my tickets instead of speaking with me.

The true question is: Do these potatoes KNOW they're potatoes? Because I swear everyone I meet like this thinks they're the best ever
Truth be told, no one is a potato and no one is a "pro" (pro, meaning master of the game.) Everyone makes mistakes and learns from them, or doesn't. It's that mentality of "Oh that's rediculous how he hit me through that pallet" "I can't believe that corner of that pallet hit me" "The killer is camping me!!!" (Even though your teammates are all at the hook with only one generator done.) Everyone has their flaws and learning from them is what makes us "better at the game" than others.
My advice is to play both sides and get to know all the characters, find the one's you feel suits you best and run them while learning from your mistakes. Did a survivor pallet stun you and then loop you for about 2 minutes. Maybe your just not at their level of understanding how to mind game the other yet and can't keep up? If that's the case, you go stop the other survivors from completing objectives and try to kill them off one by one until all that is left is the one you couldn't catch. Is a killer constantly "camping" and "tunneling?" Engage yourself with the generators while your teammates are trying to make a save, or if they are on generators... Try to make the save yourself, but don't get yourself killed by unhooking in front of the killer or near them unless you know for sure the other survivor will get away and you can buy time.
Sorry about the long post but I really feel all this needs to be said... People forget to understand what it's like to be on the other side, some even refuse to learn it and then get mad when things don't go their way... We have to remember this is a game and yes, it can be tedious... But it will most likely be even more tedious than ever if you keep making the same mistakes and blaming it on the other side and asking DEVS for changes to characters and maps.

"Just apply pressure to the 4 survivors as clown on red forest" in all seriousness they nerfed toolboxes but still made them repair gens very fast. In the new otz video he lost a gen before he even got across the map. (27 seconds)
That's a fair point, but it's things like this that need clarification. See, he was gen rushed but it was by 2 survivors that were close together with (a?) toolbox(es?) and they both spawned on that generator (or at least close to it) from the start of the game. Not to mention these people were all at a high rank and could have been SWF. Not everyone is a red tier rank (even though everyone likes to pretend they are.) Not to mention Clown isn't the best at finishing a hunt as much as I see it. I see him more of a generator pressure type of character that is meant to find a gen in the works and kick it to reduce the progress, then hunting the survivor as quickly as he can.
You learn many things from who you play as you go along and playing both sides benefits your knowledge on both sides. It aids you to understand further why and how things are done at the level they are that you previously didn't understand. As a Nurse main myself I hardly have time to kick gens... I have to instead apply massive amounts of pressure to the survivors by finding and downing them as fast as I can so the survivors have no choice but to become altruistic and save one another or die one by one.

I disagree. He looks well balanced as he is, but could be better. He lacks of map pressure, though. Hes good at ending chases faster, indeed.
Agreed, if anything that may need balancing I think he should be slowed down a bit and his accurate shots that are landed be more rewarded. Can't tell you how many times I see a Deathslinger just run around swinging at the survivors instead of shooting because it's harder to do. In fact what's sadder to admit is that I know more people who lose to him if he never shoots than the other way around.

The state of the game is clearly a joke right now. Things had been going downhill since before the ruin nerf, but that was just the icing on the cake. Since that and the legions chapter it’s become increasingly more and more frustrating as a killer. Yes yes there’s the dark days of long past. But they improved the game significantly since those times. But now it feels as if we’re headed back that way.
Not everyone who plays this game aims to get to red or even purple ranks. Yet they had to deal with the same #########. No, I don’t want to switch over and play survivor. That’s why I’m a killer main. No, I don’t want to be massively OP and 4K every game. And I don’t, nor have I ever expected to. I just want to actually have fun as a killer again. Before it still felt tense and like I had to use my head at times. But as of late it just feels like a nightmare. No one expects to win every single time, but no one also expects to lose over and over and over.
So my question stands. Why bother staying? What is it? Even I’m confused as to why the hell I still play fully well knowing I’m just going to get frustrated, but I keep coming back.
A few reasons; I find Nurse to be fun... Even if I'm just blinking after people to give them a little scare here and there. I like to try and outsmart others as Spirit and learn from my mistakes. When I play as survivor I generally lose because randoms and myself don't have a fluid connection with trying to survive well. Finally for the last reason, because it seems that when I do finally win a random game and take hatch, my game forces itself shut and I never get any points for that survivor game.

The skill of the billy player is definitly a variable too. But you being outpositioned makes it really easy for him.
Anyway, how is a killer relying on his ability to get downs bad? Is Nurse a bad killer, because she's not walking around at 98% hitting people with her M1?
No, but she has an excuse given her speed is far slower than a survivor lol. I think that your right when you say it's mostly based on the given situation and what is happening in it. But his chainsaw is like if Nurse's blink damaged you while she was lunging across the map... Forgive me if I'm wrong but to me it seems a tad unfair for a survivor (now again I don't play Hill Billy so I can't speak from experience as a killer.) I'm just trying to see if we can't all voice ideas on how he could be made more "manageable" by coming up with ideas rather than dismissing them on account of skill, rank or even the map.
-
@NursesBootie said:
As a solo survivor its pretty challenging now. But it's still easy af as SWF.
Yes, not to mention I think they were changed to be more utilized for hooks now that each one "unlocks" sabo... However I think that yes, they are weak on gens (but that's a good thing in my opinion for killers who aren't as skilled) but they are really good on hooks, even if they only get a few uses. I for one would like a very slight (and I mean slight) buff to the hooks returning (for survivors) so that when the hooks are sabotaged they actually take a little longer than 15-20 seconds to spawn a new one... Otherwise we're going to continue to see killers camping downed survivors (from what I've seen) until all toolboxes are used up on them.
-
I think we all hold the same hope that things will be fixed. And sure you can blame the devs but you can also blame the community. Some people speak about real bugs and fixes that need to be done and some just want things to go their way. The game is meant to be casual but it's PvP so someone has to lose and since it's four against one in most cases, the four usually win. We want to stop playing but deep down we all know we love this game too much and again hope things will get fixed as time passes... Unfortunately the player base is too large, people complain too early about things they don't understand. Some high rank players decide things that lower rank or even mid rank players can't keep up with and it changes our play styles and who we enjoy. I love to play Nurse and Spirit yet it's so hard to play them casually when everyone is at the throat of the other trying to win rather than have fun. All in all... It's just another game that was meant to appeal to the people who started because it probably was never meant to be a game that became this big (player base wise) a small team in Canada (I believe, unless I am wrong) started this game with high hopes and I know they still have it... It's just hard to make over hundreds of thousands of players happy when everyone wants something different and we all just need to accept that the game is "not to our standards" for most of us and either move on or learn to live with it for the most part.

- A killer still can’t hook a survivor on a hook that’s being sabotaged in your face.
- Saboteur is 2.5 seconds to break a hook without a toolbox.
- Nothing changed for Deathslinger except bloodpoints.

i’m still gonna be positive ;)
Though the hooks are removed at pretty fast pace, I one can say that it isn't as bad as you think... Yeah with some coordination and swf, it could really being down some killers moods; but in random games it's basically worthless unless you wait for the right time and guess the right hook. I say this isn't much of an issue because it also doesn't take long for the hook to return in game anyways.

PS4 here. It’s pretty much how you describe. Surprisingly, some of it is my fault. As in, restarting the console tends to clear up a good chunk of the jitters.
As for killer perks being hidden, this was an actual decision by the devs over a year ago. I thought it was all systems, so I’m actually really surprised to hear that you can see killer perks before the end of the match on other systems! (To be clear, you’re referring to the post-game tally screen, right?). The point of this was to keep spectators from informing their buddies of killer perks over comms. If the killer has NOED, it’s not so fair for survivors to suddenly know before it procs (just an example. I’m not starting a NOED debate here.)
Anyway, hope this helps!
It makes sense and that's what I figured, yes I was talking about post game tally screen. As for the rest when it comes to the frames and random lag sequences, I can only imagine it's a console thing because it rarely ever happens on PC.

You should report that.
Yes, facecamping is a strategy, and can be countered by the other 3 players completing gens and escaping, so face-camping is on the list of non-reportable offenses....However, this assumes that the killer is trying to win. We all know that this game has players that intentionally try to derank to have easier matches, so they need to start taking a look at individual situations.
This guy was not using face-camping as a strategy. He was not trying to win. If he had even turned around he could have downed another player. He was likely trying to derank without suffering a DC penalty or and afk report. Sadly, other players have to suffer for this type of behavior, and the devs need to start looking into some of these.
You can't get banned for going afk as a killer lol. That only hurts you as the killer and doesn't the survivors, the developers made that clear... Now if your a survivor then yes, going afk on purpose or in many games is reportable because it can cost the other 3 the game. Many of us face people like this all around; face camping, camping, slugging, tunneling, body blocking and many more things that can irritate and ruin the fun for other players... However these are not things that are reportable, survivors have to survive and killers have to kill, why else are they called killers? It sucks... But he cheated you and camped you and with that your team busted out some gens and 3 of the 4 escaped. He could have chased them all and slugged them for a 4k, so as the others say (but not trying to seem rude) your just going to have to take that personal loss and hope for a better match

I've played this game for 2 years now and I still find my self stressed during most matches, whether it be the terrible map design screwing me over or the occasional bully squad. I wanna know how you play this game without being stressed. I'm not tryna lose all my hair !
Well if your a nurse main like me... You don't, the survivors team up and use party chat or discord and then they are 100% sure to constantly remain in contact on where you are and what your doing as if they have telepathy. Honestly I'm all for playing with friends but the whole outside source of communication is a bit rediculous in terms of this game... There should be an implementation on an in game voice chat that you can use (given you could only hear your survivor friends that are near, a good example would be something like VR Chat has) but until that is fixed... You will be teabagged, looped, pointed at and flashlight spammed as well as harassed in the chat afterwards for being a "POS killer" and all sorts of other fun things to be said...
The honest to Entity way (haha lol, see what I did there?) To have fun and not get stressed in my opinion is to remember that if your the killer... You've already lost, the devs have made this very heavily survivor sided (I mostly play killer, but I have some experience as a survivor and let me tell you, I still make more blood points dying alongside potatoes than I do hunting swf) and I see how easy it is to play survivor at higher ranks. You want to have fun? Remember it's a game and someone has to lose/win... So why ever try to win? Odds are that if your killer and you aren't playing dirty, it won't be you anyhow

I agree a little more of the usual horror aspects would be great, but think about it. You watch a few horror films, and you become used to seeing someone being butchered. It gets old fast and no longer has the lasting effect it had the first time. So no matter how much horror is added, we eventually grow immune to the effects. Though, the recent moris (Oni and Deathslinger) have certainly added a more horror vibe for me. Seeing someones tounge being torn out and them having their head smashed in, or a hook just flying through their face, that's creepy!
How many times have you seen a survivor in a horror movie teabag a killer? Lol, I agree with the horror aspect but this game will always lack that... It's too heavy on the versus factor. Them vs us/us vs them, there has to be a balance and frankly as long as there is one... There will be absolutely no horror. What makes most killers in the movies scarier than anything? The fact that most of them can't die AND that they take forever to kill you... Always chasing you down slowly. Dead by Daylight is too focused on the competitive part of it that the survivors are slowly becoming that which the killers fear and they are being too quick on gens with toolboxes and God pallets, not to say anything on the matter of those two subjects. I'd love to see this game get down and dirty with some serious grit and grime, but as long as there are two sides of this story... Someone has to lose and no one wants to be the loser

Imho i tried out antigen build, but they simply don't work... it's just a placebo effect, the only close thing to old ruin is Pop, but it doesn't work on many killers.. wanna know what's my best way to get a ''fun'' and a decent lenght game? slug a lot with infectous fright.. but hey in the game there is a perk who counter slugging aka Unbreakable.. so my best way to win or get a chance is a mix with slugging, tunneling and proxy camping(to punish late saves).. So my conclusion? games are not fun anymore, with ruin i could play nice, have a fun game and get only 2k, but that doesn't matter, i care more about fun than winning, this is not a competitive game. The saddest thing is that you can get genrushed even by potatoes now... and no, adjusting toolboxes will not fix this issue. That's my conclusion.
Depends on who I play as, but to be honest I go after who uses what. If I see one or more people with toolboxes I try to go for them first so gens don't get rushed as easily. If I can hook them then the entire other half must save their hooked friends while I bust up gens and patrol around hooks for the survivors if they haven't unhooked yet just in case they are hanging around before I head to the other gens. I find it always works to go after the "valuable players" imo. Medkits and Toolboxes mean more time for me trying to stop gens and keep people downed.

One i’ve had that isn’t really game changing for the devs but also new and fast paced for players is trials. Basically it’s a 1v1 where it’s all up to skill and how well you can either run/chase.
Trials: One survivor and one killer, the survivor has to either find the hatch, escape through the gates, or run down the timer. The killer has to find the survivor and sacrifice them before they escape. Each trial lasts 120 seconds and has 6 rounds. No perks, items, add-ons, or offerings can be used.
That honestly sounds kinda cool lol, or maybe we could have like killer versus killer kind of like Freddy vs Jason

Slow internet? It takes me 20 seconds to get a killer game.
My internet is high speed internet from Spectrum with over 100mbs download speed and 70mbs upload speed and no packet loss... I just can't seem to find a game half the time on the Steam version of this game. Most games I find in decent time is on Xbox or the Microsoft version on PC.

The game isn't exactly the same. PC has a larger playerbase, affecting queue times, and console can also be buggier, or suffer from frame rate drops. Sensitivity differences also makes certain killers like nurse and huntress easier on PC.
Not to argue or anything, but I have come to find it a polar opposite for myself. On Xbox as Killer it takes about 4-5 minutes to find a game and as a survivor about 7-10 minutes. For PC well, on the Microsoft version of the game for a killer it takes around 10 minutes and for survivor about 12-15. On the Steam version of DBD finding a game as Killer takes about 10-20 minutes and I dare not even try survivor on that end.

Agreed, maps need a serious rework.
Either that or the maps need to be made bigger, bring in more survivors and an extra killer possibly. Halve the perks and slow the game down so it's a true horror experience rather than Mario Cart between gens lol. Maybe that's just me, but I would love for this game to go to a more sinister and horror based theme than four people charging up gens while one person either camps, tunnels or cluelessly tries to stop two generators while three are in the process of being worked on.

Not every game is fun (green rank killer vs red rank survs for example) but I typically like playing killer. Sprinting around with legion or memeing with survs as ghostface is how I spend most of my games. Then again, I dont tend to play to win, I play to have fun, if I get some points and keep my pip or pip up? Great. If not, oh well I'll be playing again anyway.
At least you get to play, I'm on PC with Spectrum internet that holds a pretty nice 100mbs download speed and damn near similar upload speed yet I can't play a game for more than 5 minutes without disconnecting from their games... It's so hard to tell because some days the game let's me play, other days it doesn't... You could ask if it's just my internet, but Overwatch, GTA, Counter Strike and Rainbow Six Siege could all beg to differ on that one.
This game is slowly tunneling down a rabbit hole with each time changes are made, of course you can't make everyone happy. That's a given, but what needs to be done is more of a poll or survey to explain how you feel about the game; likes and dislikes so the devs can have more to work off of than oppose to everyone complaining about what they hate. I love to play Nurse, she's a fun character and is very interesting. However the way survivors play I can't really play her like I want IF I want to try to win.
Now that's not necessarily a bad thing to force me onto another character, in fact I have found that I'm a pretty good Spirit player mainly because I know how to play into people's minds and guess their next move. But I still yearn for those moments where I can play my favorite characters with challenge but not have to race between generators or dance around a rock with a pallet nearby for a solid 35 seconds because everyone brought toolkits. The game is very survivor focused and I agree to an extent, survivors are meant to survive.
However if any of you have seen a horror movie... Not everyone makes it, yes some killers can be op... That's when the devs step in with the help of the whole community working TOGETHER to make amends that work for both sides instead of only one side being heard. I am a very bad survivor and don't plan on playing them to better myself at it (And no, this doesn't mean I'm ignorant to the survivor play style, I have many friends who are too tier survivors across multiple platforms who we all share our real feelings on the matter.) But I thoroughly enjoy playing killer because well... My job is to scare the ba-jesus out of my enemies and maybe even take a little here and there myself lol. I don't want to have to stop playing this game but when you make it impossible for one side or both sides to play who they enjoy because of biased or unbiased opinions... It ruins the community and it ruins your game.

I am, I just took a look at the steam store for it... How off that he's not available for the Microsoft version

With Ruin being changed, I'm seeing a lot of stuff about "genrushing" and this often brings the argument that it's "efficiently completing the objective" with some people outright claiming it "doesn't exist"
Recognize your double standards please. Both sides, stop with this biased #########. It's getting annoying.
Genrushing is to killers as tunneling is to survivors.
What makes tunneling toxic and annoying? You are removing a player from the game extremely quickly. This usually results in a low amount of points, an unfun game, and a potential depip. This is annoying and unfun, as anyone will attest. No one intelligent will try to claim otherwise.
What is genrushing?
Genrushing is the act of completing generators extremely quickly, thus ending the game as fast as possible.
Did you catch that?
"Ending the game as fast as possible"
Does that sound familiar?
Genrushing is toxic and annoying because you are removing a player from the game extremely quickly. This usually results in a low amount of points, an unfun game, and a definite depip. This is annoying and unfun, as anyone will attest. No one intelligent will try to claim otherwise.
Now comes the argument "we're just doing our objective. That's not toxic. You're just salty"
Isn't that what tunneling is?
Genrushing apparently "doesn't exist" because the survivors are just doing their objective. You're right, their objective is to complete the generators and get out.
The killer's objective? Kill the survivors. Simple.
So by eliminating someone quickly, they have essentially done their job as efficiently as possible with no regard to the fun of the other player
Guys. Recognize the double standard. Play both sides, not only will it help you're gameplay, but you'll start to learn why one side talks the way it does. No one on this forum, on YouTube or Twitch, or anywhere else is the centre of this game and deserves to be treated like a king. No one.
Recognize the double standard. It's getting annoying.
I like your outlook on this, but from my understanding this game was originally meant to be more of a survivor based horror experience, or at least I would think it would be better off that way. Four survivors put in an alien place (meaning not ordinary... Not space themed, we don't need martians lol) and it should be dense, dark, gritty and even unnerving. The killer is meant to be a threat, yes... But this "School bully" is just either too OP, too slow, or the player is either too defensive or too offensive... Truly the problem isn't in the community as much as it is the game, the characters and the design.
When I first played this game a long time ago, there was a dense fog that made it pretty hard for survivors to see across the map. It set a mood alright, "there is some freak of nature out there with a machete and you need to avoid him, but get out with the others" it instilled a fear that anything could be lurking in the fog and your every step had to be cautious. Now it's just a hulking idiot who chases one person while three others race around generator to generator with toolboxes and completing them like it was an Olympic sport.
This game should be something where the killer starts off as a threat and the survivors are very lost. The killer of course isn't all too fast (but isn't too slow either) and basically hunts the players slowly through the fog and whatever else they can use to kill everyone's vision (killer included.) Generators should become much harder to skill check as you repair them with a system where instead of it removing some progress and continuing... It instead damages it like the killer can for a margin of time to encourage the player to flee to a new target. As for hooks, they should be reduced to a very small amount spread all about the map and the killers grip intensified so he/she can carry them farther to each other hook (Assuming struggle isn't a problem and they aren't too far away.)
As most horror movies go... The survivors are clueless, they should be like that in game. They can't really fight back much so the killer should be slowed regardless who it is... Even I myself, a nurse main would be ok with a slight change to the blink so she can move a little faster on foot or something. The problem is that the developers have strayed away from what made this game so unique at the start... What we had was a horror game that had some flaws and they wanted to do what I call "pull a Blizzard." They started changing things like crazy based off some reviews and ideals they thought worked... Never really reaching out to the community to see how EVERYONE felt about things...
So what makes us different then them who we all influence? We are the players... We're meant to be the voice of our own reason, if you think the killer is too much as a survivor... Why not try to reason with our fellow gamers to make such compromises to allow change together instead of pointing a finger at the opposition and crying out in heresy?
-
That is if you can change the resolution or your font sizing so that when you play your mouse actually registers attacks. I can't tell you how many times I try to attack a fleeing target, and my character just contemplates life because my mouse is secretly clicking on stuff behind the game. It doesn't even play the game in a legitimate "full screen" yes one can argue that filling the border all the way is "full screen" but it's still a window, not a full screen game. When the game is your primary focus and the developers can't get that right, it's extremely infuriating on PC versus console.
Many of you (mostly PC players) are more than likely already thinking in the back of your mind; "Just go into the files like everyone else who looked this up on the internet and change them to fit your screen completely or whatever it is you have to do. Frankly for you and myself, I can't do that because the version I own is the Microsoft store version, not Steam. So I cannot get into the files because of how Microsoft doesn't want us all modifying our files (Usually I'm not against this kind of ethic, but in a time where developers can't even get the right specs for a full screen... It's kind of a drag that I can't modify the stuff to play better)
In conclusion to my argument... Your answer to his/hers was more so just another struggle they will have to deal with. And believe me I know this... I have been a Nurse main for a good fraction of my time and even though I have been practicing other killers (To my surprise I'm pretty damn good at a majority of them) it's just not enough if your damn mouse buttons don't register because the game's "Fix my fullscreen bulls***" setting isn't there"
As most of us do, I very much enjoy this game... But like a fine red wine, you can't sit back and enjoy it if the damn corkscrew doesn't work. Then your just left thirsty and wishing it was liquor lol, I hope the developers work on the many issues that they have. I'm sure they are and we need only be patient... But patience is a virtue that cannot be bought for too long and when you can't even do the very one thing a game is meant for half the basis (attacking of course) then what is the point of anything? (I would like to say that this is not me attacking anyone or the developers themselves, at least not directly lol. Everything has a flaw and as a community it's our job to voice them)
-
Honestly, I feel this completely. As a Nurse main (Yes, shun me as you will. She was my first play and after four days of playing her nonstop... I will continue to) I can indefinitely relate to the "unfun" part of this conversation. It's not so easy when you (meaning myself and other players who experience this) have such an amazing ability that can quite possibly send you from one end of the map to the other on occasion be so costly in a fight.
Now of course one can argue; "well your new so, practice your blink distances and remember how far you'll go" first off... I agree one hundred percent with that, practice makes perfect and no one is perfect therefore... I can only do so well. As for the skill required to swing at enemies? Well believe it or not, it's definitely hard to hit players as the Nurse ESPECIALLY when they are just dancing around corner after corner, baiting you and teabagging to rub salt in the wound. Now as for the swinging, yet again; practice will indefinitely aid me with that. As for teabagging? Pssh, they've been doing that since the first mutliplayer game that had crouching and I doubt anyone who does it will grow up soon.
So what else do I have to needlessly ramble on about besides me saying I suck and I hate that? The fact that my killer is a lot different than most others (from what I have played. I of course can't speak for anyone that isn't vanilla based unlocks (I haven't bought any new killers.) The blink doesn't work correctly for a chunk of the time, what is a chunk you ask? Well it's like a solid 25%-50% depending on the map.
I'm not entirely familiar with every map, but the one that looks like an Asian dynasty set in a dark forest with bamboo and little streams... Is an absolute joke when playing Nurse on. I can't tell you how many times I go to blink across the map to try and stop a generator from being fully repaired to just standing in place and having an LSD trip instead because one of the statues or a rock basically negated my action as if there was an invisible wall. This happens on other maps from time to time or even for example maps with several floors. You try to time your blink just right and BAM! You went from floor 1 to floor 3 with a 1-2 second hold on your ability.
The final thing I would like to say and close off this rant is the survivors vs. the killers. First of all, forget dead by Daylight... This is damned daycare simulator now. I can't tell you how many f****** times I have to quite literally chase down two people while two others work on generators. Is that a valid strategy? Yes, but for the sake of whatever God or manly presence oversees life and death... Have mercy on me lol. I get that "you can't always win every game" and that's perfectly fine with me... In fact I always keep this mentality, as long as I take at least one person with me in my loss OR I give the others a run for their money (even if they all escape) it's a good game. What I get most games is a group of two running around hooks and pallets, corners and stones, trees and hay bales constantly egging me on... I then think go myself, oh they are the distraction... And they are, but when I get to the generators that are being worked on, the two little birdies that have been stalking me as I chase the other and vice versa informed them and they have already backed off somewhere else I can't find them to camp until I leave.
Usually it goes like this; The two after me fend me off for the match while the other two work on generators. As said before if I go after the two on generators then they race off to camp off site (out of sight too) and wait until I damage them, step away, and then chase their teammates. Why not just look for them while they aren't working on the generators? First off, you didn't think to ask that and if you did... Really? What a dumb question to ask because what do you think will happen? The two who have been chasing me (The killer) will start repairs while I chase the others... Basically what my game play has come down to and believe me when I say this... I don't like it, is I have to camp those I actually can land my strikes on to quite literally force the other's to step off the generators and face me a bit. I get that camping is cheap and yes I know... Survivors hate when killers do it and killers hate when survivors do it.
Well one: I don't care if we all hate it, we've all done it at least once and most of us do it plenty enough that if it was indefinitely a bannable offense a majority wouldn't be playing this game anymore (Talking to all the survivors I've faced with in most games, I know there are killers who do it and all of us should face a justice.) The once hope for this game was to make something of a nightmare for four players, to be hunted by a sociopath or some evil spirit to scare the Hell out of us and give us a rush. But with how things are in this game... It's nothing like that, nothing more than one woman (My nurse, I don't play anyone else and I'm a ######### survivor lol) babysitting two kids full time and two more on the side. I'm sure some of you will read this long ass paragraph and have either similar or different ideals and feelings and that's fine. I just felt that maybe me being a player myself, can relate and share my experiences.
I love this game's idea and I LOVE my nurse, I used to play Overwatch and she is like a scary ass Tracer lol. I'd hate to have to keep playing dirty just to have anything on anyone and I'd hate to lose interest because if I play fair then I hardly ever win anything. I love my nurse and I'm hoping some day I can do much more with her than camping a damn hook or having strokes at stones.
