  • Everyone agrees that gen regression perks are boring so I don't understand why BHVR keeps nerfing perks like STBFL and Sloppy (both of which aren't even good on high tier killers) its so frustrating

  • I don't blame BHVR remember when everyone was pushing Haddie cosmetics for the sake of I don't even know inclusivity? or maybe they just wanted their demands to be met who knows what Twitter people want BHVR adds a bunch no one buys them I haven't seen more than 2 haddies without their default costumes cosmetics don't appear out of thin air you need dev resources and it takes time and money to do why waste that on something no one's gonna use?

Now why they keep adding SM cosmetics is a true mystery

This should not be the reason why nearly every match is ending in 4k with no gens completed against this killer.

People probably aren't trying that hard most people are really bored with the game not sure why they play it though there's so much other games to play

  • People don't know how to go against him he's incredibly easy to counter too one wall and he's just completely nullified

  • Are you sure its hackers and you aren't just missing perks or something?

  • Why is it whenever new slowdown becomes meta its "Uh THIS time its REALLY out of hand" It was out of hand with Eruption Pop Pain Res you ask for an 8 gen regress limit killers start using gen block now its "No no now its out of hand again!" That other forum user was 100% right when he said gen block will now be complained about

Whether it's me or someone else on my team being tunneled, I'm so Fing sick of it. It is the most boring waste of time ever. Nothing makes me want to uninstall more, and I main killer. Any time I play survivor, it's for the latest Tome, and it is the most unbearable slog of tunneling matches ever.

Killer tunnels the first person he finds. If its you, you really have no chance of even getting your team out because they are casual. If its someone else, oh cool, I get to sit on a gen all match. Or more likely, the guy kills himself on hook, and really, can I blame them?

And don't give me this crap about "YOU NEED TO TUNNEL GEN RUSH TOO STRONG". In these matches, the killer is tunneling at 5 gens. They tunnel, tunnel, tunnel even if a single gen hasn't been done 5 minutes into a match. I'm so Fing bored of having to run a full anti-tunnel build just to be able to do something as easy as "finish 2 generators". And the anti-tunnel build doesn't even work very well.

Okay, maybe the literal 0.5% of killers need to tunnel. But the 99.5% others who are tunneling the first hook with no gens done? Holy crap it is so boring.

When is something actually going to be done about this obnoxious strategy?

That's the current meta you have to tunnel someone out at 5 gens otherwise 4 gens will pop its a race and that's the meta if survivors can do their objectives asap by bringing multiple bnps and gen perks killers should be able to too if the meta changes then good but you know what they say don't hate the player hate the game

The unhook isn't free either it takes time away from the survivors goals, a survivor unhooking isn't a survivor on a gen. Even for self unhooks, the time spent on the hook is time away from a gen, no unhook is free. I can be intentionally obtuse too

If you're able to unhook without any risks whatsoever yes it's free lol I don't think you realise the definition of "free" a survivor running into you is a free hit because you don't need to work for it the definition doesn't change because you had to walk there or press m1 on your mouse "I want an unhook with 0 risk at 2 gens" that's wanting a free unhook

Such a nice positive thoughts from survivors playing againts new killer that just came out! Makes me want to keep playing him and not totaly switch to classic on loop repeat meta killers ;)

No, seriously tho. How low this can get. This community can be sometimes so bitter and sad.

And then the next game they lose? They complain about tunneling or camping or slugging or the map or your teammates or your perks or your addons while never mentioning how much of a dick they are

  • The killer is just not interesting at all (keep in mind this is my opinion) but it just feels like playing a long range Nemesis with a teleport one game with him and you've seen everything you shoot an orb to infec- i mean weaken them you shoot another to injure and he has the exact same problem as Nemesis where you need to shoot a survivor 3 times from healthy except this time there aren't limited amounts of cures I don't think buffing him is gonna solve anything since the problem is his core ability i don't even care if he's good or bad or whatever he's just plain boring.

TLDR: Got the adept never playing him again (just like SM)

  • Yeah that hook stage wasn't free the killer downed him that's not free unless he plot wised into a hook

  • You're almost sacrificed and there's 2 gens left why should she let you unhook for free lol?

  • I got a trap on 3 survivors of course they didn't do gens but I couldn't patrol boxes because 1 out of 900 pigs camped them so i had to run around the map looking for boxes and before I could find one they all got their traps off no capitalising on survivor mistakes my bad also her ambush still does nothing to survivors with more than 1 IQ point

So sick of playing against the Knight, definitely needs a huge nerf, I'd go so far as to say a rework of their power/ability. Why bother playing a killer than can dominate the entire map while taking it easy?

Knight is fine. instead of a nerf give him map of the realm basekit and maybe even call to arms if you played knight you'd realise how frustrating he is to play but you don't care you lost to him once so its "NERF NERF NERF" take a chill pill before you rage on the forums

  • SM sucks and shouldn't get a rework stop wasting dev resources on trying to fix a killer survivors are always gonna complain about just killswitch her indefinitely and say you're "fixing her" no one would really care

  • No more SM reworks focus on other killers stop changing SM and Sadako already just kill switch her or something instead of wasting more dev time on another change (that everyone will hate anyways)

  • The killer in my opinion is just not interesting the art team did great as usual but eh the ability is just not interesting to me

My suggestion would not gut this perk by any means. Less frustrating for killer and survivor.

Your suggestion goes through weeks later you're making another suggestion because people are still complaining the perk encourages you to not to tunnel and actively rewards you for doing so and its being complained about

I guarantee if you nerfed every single regression perk but left Oppression and people started running it people would start complaining

  • People will complain anyway until the perk is completely and utterly gutted that's just facts

"Petty", "spiteful". Some mental gymnastics going on in this threads because a survivor did not die in the way the killer preferred for some meaningless steam achievement the survivor might not have known is being attempted. If that even was the case. Better luck next time.

You're actually trying to tell me it isn't petty to hide in a locker for minutes on end just because you don't want the killer to get an achievement you would waste upwards of 30 minutes just to deny a person that you might never EVER see again in the game for an achievement lol i want what you're having sounds fun

  • Some survivors are so spiteful they'll hide in a locker for 40 minutes just so you can't get an achievement

  • Wow now I have permanent yellow auras all over my screen as killer this is great!

  • We should get bikini skins already dammit

  • @Exxodus21 said:

At this point the should remove the ability to self un-hook unless you're running a perk that allows it and remove the struggle option from second phase. They're both outdated mechanics anyways and more often than not serve as a way to avoid the DC penalty while still ruining the game for everyone else.

Like I said this is out of BHVR's control its purely a mentality issue no band aid fixes will fix this its a community issue

  • @WolfyWood said:

Just like the last thread about this I always have to ask why it circles back to 'Survivor bad' and not a deeper look at why people DC.

If killers are allowed to tunnel, 4-slug, hump on the ground, hit on hook, bleed out, and camp and if survivors are allowed to bodyblock their teammates, hide in corners and lockers all game, play for hatch, etc.

Then why is it so shocking that people will also use a method in game to avoid what they would consider to be a waste of time? Why is that considered unreasonable and why does it anger you so much?

Yeah it does suck when someone goes next in a winnable game, but that happens so rarely that I'm almost certain it's hyperbole to say it happens every other game.

The overwhelming majority of hook suicides that I see are when against killers known for terrible playstles (yes Pig is one of them) that involve not actually playing, or if their teammates do nothing for minutes at a time.

Let's fix those before we come after people wanting to avoid them.

"The killer MIGHT play naughty so I don't wanna play"

I appreciate you proving my point for Pig though and why does it anger me so? Because I see it from both sides as killer and survivor i'm not a killer main elitist and neither am i a survivor main elitist i know how it feels to waste your time when your teammate just stops playing.

If you don't see it happening in every other game you're not playing killer and actually winning that's why be above average as killer and survivors don't even wanna try anymore (You can hit good shots as slinger? I don't wanna play sorry) its annoying and has nothing to do with the killer I don't understand why this must always devolve into "No but YOU did something bad as a killer how dare you pick Pig?! I don't care about what you want its what I WANT" why can't you just accept that some (keyword some i'm not insulting the entire survivor community) survivors are just entitled whiners who want you to play their way?

BHVR needs to do something about survivors giving up its not a gameplay issue its a mentality issue and certain streamers don't help because they populate the idea that giving up is ok and you should do it at a moment's notice. This isn't an Us vs Them issue its a bloody gameplay issue that affects everyone.

  • @Ilikechips said:

Just a guess but I would say it's because the game has gotten progressively less fun for survivors the last few years.

More killer buffs are on the way next patch.

It's only going to get worse.

It has absolutely nothing to do with that and you know it you're giving up on first hook against a Pig why? Because she's getting buffed next patch? It makes no sense I am actively making the game fun for you by not tunneling not camping and you still give up please don't pretend its because "killers get buffs" people give up against Freddy constantly for absolutely no reason

I have had survivors again constantly give up when im not even tunneling or camping what's the excuse there? If you don't find the game fun STOP playing it then no one on planet earth is forcing you to play.

This Us Vs Them mentality is so deep rooted in the game that an issue that affects both sides is delegated to being the fault of the killer "It's the killer's fault my teammate gave up at 5 gens first hook because he had the audacity to play a killer he found unfun killer's fault of course"

  • Yeah why is RNG still in the game? (Unless its 4%ing off the hook that's ok)

  • @Visi said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3666678#Comment_3666678

People love to pretend that this is true. That the poor killer is absolutely forced to tunnel, when 99% of the time the killer either proxy camps or immediately returns to hook after an unhook and tunnel the survivor out at 5 gens.

And survivors love to pretend everything is tunneling you heal under hook? And you go after me instead of the uninjured guy running to shack? You're tunneling you hit me when i'm cleansing your totem? You're tunneling i'm running out in the open while everyone is hiding and you go after me again? You're tunneling no I won't think about why you're doing it you just shouldn't do it now don't tunnel me so I can teabag you at EGC later

  • @BlightedDolphin said:

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't see tunnelling that often. It happens, but in my experience it's not as prevalent as people here make it out to be. And when it does happen the killer usually only gets 1-2 kills. If they get more it's because the tunnelled survivor can't loop more than 5 seconds or the others throw themselves at the killer and get everyone killed.

That's not to say they shouldn't address it though, especially if my experience is the minority. It should absolutely be at the top of BHVR's priority list. And don't hide the counter behind a pay wall like DS again make it base kit or at the least a free perk.

People love to exaggerate they'll just say the killer is tunneling but they won't mention they were on a gen or healing right next to the hook or the killer didn't hook everyone else first before them, or they purposefully body blocked the killer with their endurance or that there's 1 gen left with everyone still alive it's just black and white "Killer tunneled me that's it end of story"

  • @rglarson13 said:

Lately, it seems like every survivor game I've played has had killers camping just outside of the radius so that the unhook meter doesn't increase, and frequently tunneling the first hooked survivor (so that it's 3 hooks in, only 3 survivors left).

I've been playing this game for years -- I have over 2000 hours in this game -- and if anything I'm a killer main, although I'd estimate it's probably 60/40. I've never been one to complain about killer behavior; I almost always think it's just survivors being poor losers, or being so toxic that they provoke the killer into playing like that.

Except I don't bring items or map offerings, I don't teabag, point, or click my flashlight, or unhook in the killer's face, and I don't spend the whole game hiding, throw every pallet I come across, or sandbag other players. I short, I play as fairly as I can, and I play to win without being toxic about it. I do my best, and I just want to have fun. And I'm nearly always solo queue. I'm not doing anything to provoke killers or make them feel like they need to camp/tunnel, and from what I can tell the other survivors usually aren't, either.

I could understand camping every now and then. But it's at least 80% of the games I've played over the last few months (at least 50+ hours of survivor gameplay). And I get that killers want the 4k, just like survivors want to get out. But it's not tunneling out the survivor who's always there with the flashlight save, or who keeps going for the head-on stun, or whatever; it's just methodically marching through survivors one after another, because hide-and-seek is boring and it's easier to just wait for survivors to come to you.

When I ask killers why they play like this, their responses are a version of "Well, I obviously won so it's a good strategy" or "waiting more than 16m away from the hook is fair, which is why that's where the self-unhook meter stops increasing." (Or the "mad bcuz bad"-type responses from small children who are upset that Mom scorched their dino nuggies.)

Did I miss the memo? Did Otzdarva start encouraging camping and tunneling right from the first hook, or something?

The meta is tunnel someone out at 5 gens or try and spread out hooks (and then lose) and get told ggez while being teabagged

  • @Doxie said:

Three games in a row. Huntress, Deathslinger and Hag, literally all face camped. the entire game was slugging and trading hooks. How is this remotely fun? Killers that can't even complete a good chase. So we either are either down a person or have two to three people tied up. It's ridiculous.

Let's add a real punishment. Speed up Gen repair when the killer is still in the area. Gens start popping they will be motivated to start working on Gen control....WHICH IS What THEY SHOULD BE DOING!!.

Start docking points, have them lose perks inside the radius... something.

I play killer just as much. Gen control and always been good for me. I end up letting survivors farm because usually I know they ain't getting out. Every once in a while you get a good sweaty team. It happens...you get schooled. This whole "they get gens done too quick" is bs.

I love playing killer, love playing Survivor with friends but this camping is ruining it for me. Especially when you have three in a row of literal face camping

Yes work on Gen control as Deathslinger who takes an hour to reach one point of the map who was nerfed because of you complaining and I would bet money that the Hag wasn't actually camping you just triggered her traps near the hook and she teleported to it so you call it "camping" because if your team is being camped by Hag you weren't winning regardless

  • @sinkra said:

Because they want the game to be easy mode for killers for some unknown reason, "to fulfill the horror fantasy" of the game whatever that means. They couldn't even bring themselves to nerf gen regression without buffing it at the same time.

Why is this so typical? You got 3 gens nerfed and then you spin it into some kind of killer buff tell me what do you want? 2 kicks only? No gen regression at all? It's never the survivor's fault always the killer we're not bad the killer is just op

  • I mean yeah its pretty telling when most people play Wesker over Nemesis even ignoring how strong wesker is he was just implemented far FAR better than "oh hit people with tentacle over window/pallet drop thats it!" I have to agree with another poster out of every licensed killer he's by far the most bland

  • Exactly but then the survivors blame the killer as if its my fault your teammates are giving up for benign reasons like oops im playing Freddy guess it was my fault

  • While you don't understand SM hate I can't understand Hillbilly love

  • No not really you hit at loops you can hit over you hit at pallet drop you hit at window vault as to why the pickrate is low just not an interesting killer to play not only that flame turrets can screw you over

  • @steamed_hamzzz said:

In an ideal world the killer would 12 hook everyone, never tunnel and participate in a nice fun game for both sides

Everyday I start the game with this mindset but it soon fades after being greeted with 3 or 4 survivors t bagging at the exit gates

playing “nice” just isn’t optimal, especially against good survivors and I think the problem is the game being balanced around kills, not hooks

tunnelling is far too effective, but often times the killer has no choice but to tunnel, especially on certain maps

I think the game needs another health/ quality of life update. Changes for maps like Badham, the Game ect, Give killers more incentive to spread out hooks while at the same time give survivors more base kit ways to deal with tunnelling.

Matchmaking/ win condition changes would be very welcome as well with more emphasis on quick downs and hook instances as killer, and chase time, stuns and altruistic actions as survivor, instead of just “kill” and “escape”. This would make for much more balanced matches

That's DBD for ya you win as killer its because you camped and tunneled you don't win because you didn't want to you're trash and you're ez oh and we're waiting out the entire EGC unless you watch us teabag, oh the next match we were tunneled and camped? Killers are toxic that's why

"Here's your reward what did you do? You spent money at a certain point of course!"

This isn't even like Legacy where OG players should have something to set them apart

  • I don't get what people mean by "Fix soloq" you know why soloq sucks? Because your teammates are self caring against a Legion you know why SWF especially a 4 man is good? Because if all 4 of you know what you're doing even without comms you're better than the average SoloQ teammates. I'm all for giving BHVR crap when they mess up but how are they gonna fix your teammates? Shock therapy?

Yep. Plenty of survivors are pleasant and will even thank the killer for "playing nice". But if even one survivor is toxic, all that goes out the window, and the only thing that matters is the one toxic person. The kind players are immediately discarded.

I've extended a handshake to plenty of players online, only to get a slap in the face for my troubles. The difference is that I don't focus on that one person and ignore everyone else.

"Plenty of survivors are pleasant and will even thank the killer for playing nice" I wanna play the game you're playing sounds fun

  • You can't even say "can we change some of the controls" without it erupting into "BUT SURVIVORS BUT KILLERS"

  • Wonder why so many people camp and tunnel if you're gonna get flamed might as well win too

  • @concubined said:

I genuinely just wanna hear a good reasoning as to why survivors need that built in basekit second chance.

I’m not exaggerating when I say in every game I play there’s one 4% self unhook, it’s gotten so bad that I’ll wait till the entity take one person then go and actually pick the second person up to hook just so I don’t have to deal with the hassle that 4% brings

So yes I just want one good reason as to why it’s a necessity, thank you.

Because outdated design is ok for survivors but not killers. Simple as 3 gen was outdated? Nerfed hook grabs outdated? Nerfed there's no reason why a survivor should just be able to jump off the hook and then get endurance and haste none (zero)

The devs talked about how awkward gen grabs were why don't they address how awkward the 4% is? If I have someone slugged and someone's on first hook (when everyone else has been killed) I'm gonna stand there and wait and see if they get off first before picking the slug up which just wastes everyone's time imagine if there was a mechanic where if you escaped there's a 4% chance to just get insta hooked on the other side of the map you think that would fly?

  • Ok what youtuber made a video about Solo Q now why is every new discussion about SoloQ and SWF

  • @sinkra said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3659765#Comment_3659765

The fact that killers often feel like they should "go easy" is proof something is wrong with the game and the MMR system isn't working properly.

So I can take it easy not "go easy" If its 4 solos I know they're at a disadvantage and i'll try 3 hooking them you can't 3 hook a good SWF team try playing killer yeah?

  • I'd love for BHVR to just say who's in an SWF or who's not so if its 4 solos I can take it easy but you don't know if its a 4 man SWF who'll bring 4 BNPS and teabag you at the exit gate

  • The problem is that BHVR refuses to balance for Solo Q and instead balances with SWF in mind. Any good survivor perk becomes even better when you're in an SWF

I just played 4 matches using Hex Pentimento with Hex Plaything. It was my first time using Pentimento and I hooked all 4 survivors in all 4 trials and nobody broke their Plaything totem.

I was still able to get a 4K in all 4 matches but was shocked nobody touched the Plaything totems. Do survivors have a new notification or something before they break a totem?

Good survivors will just take the plaything since if you're not playing Pig you're probably using Pentimento with it

  • The game has become faster because there's still nothing to do for survivors besides gens while there's multiple things for killers to do, break walls, break gens defend gens, chase, break pallets etc what else is there for survivors to do? Chests? Totems?
