It was very expected that the remedy is worse than the disease tbh.
I think they should just remove it and keep only the anti-suicide on hook measures.
I don't like that either though. Being forced to wait out the entirety of hook stages is relying to much on teammates. What happens when u get thst team that just won't unhook you for whatever reason?
Nobody should be forced to do anything in a game. DC on hook is annoying whenothers are just rage quitting, but I'd argue its even worse when your stuck and now have to wait out the entire hook timers bc meg is crouching behind a rock and your forced to watch her do nothinguntil you finally die lmao.
This happened to me 3 or 4 times on release day. New players tend to not save out of fear, and gen jockies ignore you towards the end of the match when only a few gens are left.
My biggest fear from this new system seems to be true. It's easier to grief other players now, and can backfire into teammates using it as a punishment or troll or just inexperience
-
I just realized auto lvl up was a thing the other day. I've been manually doing it like its a chore until I saw the little icon to the right. I haz the dumb apparently.
I bout did a backflip once I saw that. How long has this feature been in the game exactly? Lol

Nah springtrap is cool as hell. Honestly... the only real thing I can think of is can complain about is whwn he comes out the door. From my perspective I don't even see him or hear him until he's winding up a are to throw at me. Like... it's immediately present.
Not sure if it's a ping thing or what but tocme it's instant. Other than that. He's fair to go against

-
Seems pretty accurate to me. At least with player pick rates and fav perks.
-
Yeah I'm not sure i like this either
-
I never got a chance to play him during the ptb. Que times were to long. Im currently sitting in a killer lobby waiting to have my first match as him. I hear tho he's similar to huntress. Are the changes that drastic from the ptb tho?

Why? Bc people get butthurt they lose and rage? What about people that don't give a #########? Those that are impressed and wanna say something positive? The majority are positive in chat.
It's a game. Yeah I get heated too sometimes but it's still a game and we are a community. The chat box stays

You can minimize the chat too. I mean... lol.

I also miss earlier days of DbD, and not just for these changes, but also for a much smaller killer roster, where powers were way simpler and you could get a feel for them quickly. Yes, there was a LOT of abusable builds, but it worked for both sides, and the perk variety was good enough the even silly builds could come out on top. There was typically a lot more variety because nothing had been nerfed to the ground yet, and thus allowed for mpre unique playstyles.
This. More isnt better. Been saying this for years. We don't need new killers and survivors and more perks every 3 months.
Dude my issue with DBD now, and it took awhile to figure this out is the games pacing and convoluted content being crammed down our throats.
The Pacing is awful. Match after match the killer is on someone within 10 seconds, and said survivor is downed within 30 seconds. Right off the rip your playing defensively trying to prevent teammates from dying. And depending on how the killer plays and which killer it is the game tends to snowball quick bc the killers just go right back to the hook via proxy camping/tunneling and down and kill the survivor fast turning it into a 3v1 within the first few minutes of the match.
I see this so often. The first hook you get it's basically game over for the player if the killer feels like being dirty.
And once it's a 3v1 depending on the map it just feels... pointless.
You used to be able to breathe. Crouch around some, be a little stealthy and didn't feel so rushed all the time. It used to be scary. I understand gen rushing from the killers pov and the argument for said dirty tactics but man the pacing blows.
And now with so many killers with unique abilities and so many perks every time they attempt a balance change for either side it weakens or kills perks rendering them useless to the point we have an over abundance of niche useless perks for both sides giving the illusion of variety of perk builds.
Dbd is near and dear to me. It has a special place in my heart. But things are rough for solo q survivor. It just isn't very fun quick jumping into matches like it used to be.
There's hardly and chasing anymore with the constant map changes, unsafe pallets all over the place. This game just needs a change of pace. We need to bring back focusing on chasing and cat and mouse tactics instead of map teleporting powers and Aura revealing perks and addons all over the place lol
Idk.

I'll be honest. 2v8 sucks. It's not fun. I hate when they drop it. It prolongs matches on all modes. It makes me.wanna stop playing until it's over bc I hate waiting more than a minute or so to get into a match.
IIt's Just not for me. I don't like being ganed up on by two killers. I have enough time avoiding being camped and tunneled by one let alone two
I might be in the minority when I say this but the only thing I get out of 2v8 is the massive bloodpoints.
I don't even attempt to play killer bc the wait times. What's the point? 30 min wait times? I mean... why bother? It was a fun gimmick at first but there's just not enough players as a whole to make this work.
I like choas modifier more than 2v8 in terms of gameplay. I think the devs should let this go.
-
Guy is confused. DBD is only free sometimes for promotion purposes. I've paid more money playing DBD than any game to be fair bc of all the sweet cosmetics amd rift passes. But to be fair you only have to pay for the game once.. to technically play. The rest is extra if you enjoy the game.

I've been playing since late 2017. Originally on ps4, and I swapped over from Friday the 13th bc the crew i used to play with on thst game all wanted to try dead by daylight.
I immediately fell in love with dbd over Friday. Although I miss Friday alot too. But dbd was way more involved and fun.
In the beginning it was way more survivor sided and there were tons of broken bugs and infinite loops etc... it was frustrating as all get out, and the old Haddonfield maps were all nightmare maps to play. But it had its charms.
The game is improved massively since 2017. It was a mess in the early days. The main thing I miss about old dbd was the darkness of the maps, felt more horror and the the fog was thicker and made a difference visually on most maps.
Also way less killers, survivors, and perks and powers to learn which made things easier. I honestly am overwhelmed these days looking through my loadout screen especially as survivor.
There's just so many perks I often find myself spending 10min or so trying to chose a build to try out or resorting to the classic builds so I can jump in fast. You learn as you play the majority of the perks are borderline useless/situational or takes a swf to pull off that you tend to always resort to the basics.
That being said, I sometimes wonder why even bother to try new gimmick/meme builds for laughs whwn they usually flop or fail tremendously due to soloq teammates all dropping like flies, and I almost always find myself playing defensively more than I used to back then.
To me the game is better in all aspectsexcept the actual gameplay. And I tend to blame how watered down it's become over the years in content.
Back then we had way less killers to learn to counter, way less perks to learn to use, and things were clunky but felt simple and easy.
Now? Unless you dump a ton of time into the games playing both as and against killers you won't learn how to counter them. Or understand perks.
I still have megs following me around trying to heal me when I'm broken lol... still... after all these years I see new players struggling all the time which is why solo is such a mess.
TThe game has always been unforgiving for new players but I feel bad for new players today as opposed to new players in 2017 2018 bc there's just so much more content to learn and let's face it... new players jump it get creamed constantly, get frustrated, and either stop or take a break from the game instead of just putting in the hours needed to actually learn it.
GGames To big now. That's probably an unpopular opinion but I feel at times it's just to much. Maybe I'm in the minority when I say this but I'm not a fan of new chapters every 3 months bc I know that's at least 6 new perks to learn, and a new killer to try to learn to play as and against. It's exhausting.
I also find it interesting in spite of all the new killers and survivors, you rarely play against more than half the roster consistently which aids to having a hard time learning how to play against them. Lol. I do miss the simplicity of only having 10 to 15 killers sometimes.
-
I haven't played as killer for the event yet to see the issues talked about here. I wanted to see the new event objectives from the survivor side. The jugs, and the troughs etc...
I noticed alot of teammates were all going for the troughs but the 10 games I played before I stopped for the night ended up slugfests with the ghoul. I'm now guessing after reading all the replies alot of killers are having issues with gen rushing bc the blood gens not having gen regression effects?
Still tho, isn't playing the killer worth more points than survivor? If so I'll swap over and play as killer for the grind later in the week. I can only play a few days a week if that. So when I do I try to always get the most points I can.
SOunds like gen rushing aside, killers still get way more points.
-
Bait right? Has to be. DH is half the perk it used to be. What's the pick rate these days?
-
After 20 or so matches my biggest issues I've seen is how fast he catches up. He's always ontop of you.
If he uses his power and it doesn't count... I.E... his first tentacle or after he marks you and it hits... it still stops you dead in your tracks and slows you down preventing any distances no matter what the outcome.

Were the other player(s) bots? As this is the only time it should kick in if someone else is not in dying state.
Oh hey Mandy. XD
No I believe one player was on hook. I was down, and the third guy was on a gen the first time it popped up. I was picked up, wiggled off due to hookcrng with the other guy hooked so close.
Point being we were able to continue the match briefly, and the option stayed lol. I wish I recorded it. But it just seemed like it came on a little quickly and I thought it was only if everyone was guaranteed down for the loss like a 4 man slug.
So if the option pops up to leave while everyone is down and someone uses an unbreakable and gets up or something else happens that continues the match shouldn't the option vanish? Because my option never left to leave even tho I wasn't being slugged anymore.
I'll record the rest of my matches today to see if I can recreate this. I may just be remembering it wrong, or I encountered a bug. It just didn't seem right to be able to leave while I'm on my feet.
-
Thats agood turnout for a first match. Some killers i don't even get a hook lmao.

This somehow escaped the patch notes (probably should've been included there) but as was mentioned on today's livestream, map variants have been removed from the game in today's update. This includes all the 2nd variants of Macmillan maps, the 2nd variants of the Yamaoka maps, Ormond 2 and 3 (not Ormond Lake Mine though), and all Badham maps except for Badham 1.
How do we feel about this? I always felt like most of the map variants weren't very good (except for Suffo Pit 2 being better than 1 imo), so overall I'm okay with this change.
I'm cool with this as well. Honestly, one good variation of each map gives them more wiggle room to make better new maps more often now.
-
Its a crap shoot. It's like a lottery scratch off. Mostly losses and the occasional win/interesting match. People get frustrated on solo q and try to pin point a specific reason why. That's why you see so many different negative topics about it but the reason can't be pin pointed because there's just to many variables in solo Q that can make your experience miserable.
Hook/gen RNG. Type of killer. Which map paired with which killer. Teammates. How the killer is feeling that match, are they chill, or angry from a previous match and taking it out on this match?
How well you personally play is only a small factor in the overall match. You can kite and loop well but it doesn't matter if your team is just crouching around. It also won't matter if the killer only wants you. Both situations will rob you of getting points in other categories causing you to die and leave being penalized points and a pip over stuff that's out of your control for the most part.
That's where the frustration lies. No control. Feeling cheated having time wasted and leaving with less points and or an unhappy experience.
I've been saying for years it's not a good idea to have to rely on teammates so much in order to get progress in a match. The solo experience needs a revamp in the points system so that even if you have crap match the compensation in bloodpoints for the match makes it worth your while.
There's nothing worse then spending 10 to 15 minutes in an awful match for whatever reason it may be, and leave with 8k points... or 15k points...
I can't tell you how many matches where I go into struggle on my first hook bc teammates won't get me fast enough, just for the killer to come right back to the hook when they do and get tunneled out immediately.
Or those matches where you get slugged for minuteson the ground for whatever reason, feeling robbed out of a match finally die and get like less than 10k points. Lol it's frustrating.
There's just zero control, random chance, mixed in a bag of luck and pure anarchy. It's a crapshoot. A problem not even the devs can really fix game play wise very easily. Boosting the player points to me seems the easiest way to make very bad matches worth not "going next"
-
No I made this account to engage and meet people. I ask questions that I think will be engaging so I can start a conversation and get to know some members and how others feel.

Because we do escape trials lol I been doing fine even with useless solo team mates that DC and try to go next
Lol maybe you do. I'm just not as lucky. I wouldn't say I'm bad. I can loop decently, and play the bigger jungle gyms okay. So mediocre to average ish....
But I die most matches, most days I jump in. Alot has to do with the start of the game. I find myself wondering why after 2 minutes zero gens have popped lol.
That and how fast teammates drop. Often I see two drop in the first minute or so within the first 15 seconds of a chance. Sometimes including me.
The beginning of a match sets the tone. Those first several minutes are crucial. If no gens are done in the first few minutes, and the killer already has 2 or 3 hooks it becomes harder bc you know the 3v1 is likely early game.
I get alot of that when I play solo. I've started using good solo perks to compensate but I still have more fun using killer engaging more.
-
Lol yeah. Devs think we escape trials. XD

Odd isn't it? They pay for this license too. Nobody will play him if this goes live.
-
Never played him enough to get a firm grasp on the power but have watched many streamers, and thus sounds pretty cool actually.
-
Yeah killers get shafted sure. But i bet you left with more than 8k points tho. Even my worst killer matches are more points than my worst survivor matches. Point being, the bloodpoint system for survivors when you unfortunately have a slug/hard tunneled/camped type of match and get pushed out fast punishes you even more.
You always leave those matches with such a low amount of points when the majority of the situation is just out of your control, unfun, and just bad luck. The wasted time for only 8k to 10k points makes it more favorable to "go next" on hook.
Boosting points for kiting the killer, or maybe even boldness gets vamped up to make it worth sticking out a bad match would help the quality of life.
Those 400x boosts made all my matches worth it even the bad ones. I feel players would tough it out more knowing they would still get the points in the end.
-
Told me I was logged onto another account and couldn't connect me. I had to reboot the game, and then it said I was logged on somewhere else, and asked me if I wanted to log into this one instead. I said yes and it fixed the issue
However, this is my only dbd account so should I be worried? Can people hack player accounts?

I've always thought that commons in the bloodweb should be 1000, uncommons 2000, rares 3000, and so on. Not whatever half-measure math they did to get the current prices. Nice clean numbers would be better, and so would a higher BP cap. That's something I want to dive into, because there are actually people who supported the BP cap being at a million, let alone 2 million.
The rationale behind keeping the cap so low, as said by its advocates is that 1) The devs want people to play only sometimes but spread throughout many months (or something) instead of a lot all within a week, and 2) Killers shouldn't be able to over-level their stuff. Both reasonings ought to be trumped by the simple fact that it hampers the player experience, instead of improving it, because you're literally just capping how much a player can save up. They can play 100 matches after they hit the cap, and won't get any of their deserved match reward currency because of your arbitrary rule.
Anyway, Rationale 1 is wrong because having a lower BP cap doesn't guarantee player retention, or monthly player numbers, any more than a high BP cap would. But it's an annoying inconvenience, having to stop your streak of matches just to spend BP so that you don't waste your hard earned currency. For a lot of people, they'll spend their BP before they get off the game, or start with that the next time they get on, so you're actually encouraging them to stop playing (when they'd otherwise keep going) because you're accelerating them towards their natural stopping point.
Rationale 2 is even more ridiculous, that killers shouldn't be able to Prestige 3 the new killer quickly to test the lvl 3 version of perks, on all their killers, or use the new killer's add-ons, because it's "not fair" to the learning survivors. News flash: the killer is still learning as well, and even if the Tier 3 versions of those perks or those really strong add-ons are a lot to deal with, you're just gonna have to face up against it anyway as survivor, eventually. Why not start learning the counterplay now? It just makes no sense, the pushback against raising the BP cap. If it got raised to 999,999,999 like it should be, tomorrow, nothing in the game would change, except for better player satisfaction because their option to save up is no longer actively hampered.
They could also do BP bonuses way more often. There should be a 2x or 3x BP weekend... every weekend. It draws players in, and it gives them more BP. It's a win/win for the devs and the players. Or make the BP offering a separate slot from the other offerings. There's so much they could do. I really don't need all the extra BP anymore, because I'm currently focusing on getting multiple characters to Prestige 30. But other players aren't so well-off. I remember how long the grind was.
Thanks for responding. I agree wholeheartedly on your reasons for caps. However, how stringent they are with gains caps mean more for killers than solo q survivors. It's always been known that killers gain wayyyy more points easier than soloq.
I'm speaking on an overhaul in general on the whole point system to aide in the grind, and something to fall back on for those awful streaks of bad matches.
The fast fix is as you said, weekend multipliers. I like that idea, and it's easier of a fix but I'd rather them just do an overhaul.
Let the soloq players gain more. Who cares? There's sooooo many perks, addons, and p100 grinding to do. Let them have the points. Boost it.
The biggest gripe is the survival category. You die 3rd or even last sometimes and I still see 1k gains loke what???? Lol. I've NEVER UNDERSTOOD how to make decent gains in that category other than escaping.
But yeah, gains feel good. Even during the worst of matches. During the 300 400x a few weeks ago I'd have the absolute worst matches and still leave with 100k or even 70 to 90k and was like
"Well, at least the past 10 minutes of my time wasn't for nothing"
We need that. It helps keep players going during those times of stress.

You don't need to 50/50 most of the time. His M2 just creates lose-lose situations for survivors, even moreso than PH.
I disagree. I've played against good xeno players and while yes you don't have to 50/50 to get hits especially against noobs, it definitely is at pallets and windows.
That audio q you get while in chase when he goes to use m2 helps you avoid it while running. But like neme and pyramid head if it's used at windows and pallets it's a hit
-
This happened to me a few matches ago. But only 2 dcd. Me and the only other player were playing on the game map. It happened 3 minutes in the game at 4 gens.
The friendly killer made sure to slug the only two remaining survivors playing. He hooked me, I 4% off the hook to pick up the other player, and he made sure to stop chasing the Bots... come back... and continue to slug us both....
THis... is a prime example of quitting a match. I can't wait for the quality of life changes. People play scummy in this game. Both sides now. Not picking on killers only.
Who knows why they quit. Could be they had a string a terrible matches and were all triggered. Who knows.
Dbd has a way of bringing out the worst in people sometimes.
-
His tail is designed for pallets and windows. If you win the 50/50 you're guaranteed a hit.
My issue with him is his mobility. The tunnels are amazing in concept. Being able to track them from underground is his best feature. Issue I have with that is that's not the focus of his addons. He has one I think??? That helps him see them from underground.
But it's fixed locations, and gens fly to fast if you only use the tunnels to move around. Which honestly you should be... it's Alien...
Idk
-
I loved her. I had alot of fun playing sm. Issue was people used her to slug alot bc her power enabled it. But I never did. I just loved her look, lore, and had fun sneak attacking survivors at gens and scaring them.
I often didn't perform well with her bc she isn't oppressive, but won due to rage quits and go next die on hook survivors.
She was fun to mind trick with. Then they gutted her. You can still use her drones for sneak attacks, but yeah her drones Don't work anymore.
-
Is this a problem?
-
We would need Derry Maine.... serious.... they would have to play into the Stephen King lore to make that work.
-
She's fine.... I don't get it.....

Slugging for the 4k isn't taking the game hostage in any shape or form, if it was then it would be reportable.
See... I don't even fault people for thinking this way. I just personally think the option for you to shouldn't exist. I don't really argue the particulars of DBD. You won't find me in a convo about a singular perk being too strong... but as for slugging (for extended periods)... I cannot think of a single game I've played that mimics the sheer lack of agency for a survivor such a "strategy" creates.
I don't complain about go-next because of things like that. Dying in SnD in an FPS and having to wait until next round? Not the same. In-game timers for crafting to finish? Not quite.
I don't do that as killer. No singular match is THAT important to potentially add 4+ minutes to it for an additional kill. If you get hatch, cool, on to the next. DBD has a few rules for thee, but not for me scenarios and some core contradictory gameplay outcomes.
○ Tunneled out ruthlessly = strategy.
○ Leave early yourself = epidemic. Fun ruiner.
• "Hiding excessively" = holding game hostage.
• Letting one bleed out while you scour the map for the other = strategy.
We have to remember this is a GAME. Meaning you shouldn't be sacrificing one player's agency for another. I want killers to have fun, but not at the cost of another player needing to sit idly for 30% of the game time before dying. That's a punishment and it tilts players which ultimately leads to them playing aggressively selfish after.
ThIs.
I can't get behind hard tunneling, and excessive team slugging. I understand WHY killers do it. I do. I just don't support it.Ultimately it isn't healthy for the game. Nobody should have to wait minutes at a time like that. It's a unfun situation to be forced into without any counter or quit options without penalty.
Sure you have unbreakable, you get it once and it takes up whole perk slot. Not worth it. I'm a fan of the idea of a give up button but I just hope people don't abuse it.
People tend to play scummy because they have a bad match and tend to take it out on the innocent players in the future matches. I see killers BM alot more these days than I used to.
Just last night I got aggressive head nods, and slapped on hook over and over just bc I ran a Sabo play and caused the killer a wiggle off. Like... it's just a game dude it wasn't personal lol. Geeze

I truly hope the anti go next measures they introduce work. Yes soloq has players doing totems and challenges but that's part of the game and to be expected. If people want to play the game with a united goal of escape then swf is the way to go but soloq will have different types of people with different goals.
Slugging for the 4k isn't taking the game hostage in any shape or form, if it was then it would be reportable as taking the game hostage is a reportable offence. So the answer to that question is at no point.
Well I'm pretty sure all solo survivors also have the goal and hopes to escape too.
