You main Spirit but you complain that she's unfun to play against...
Why do you think that nobody plays the "fun" killers like Billy? Because Spirit, Freddy and Pyramid exist which are way easier to play and stronger. Why would your average gamer who wants to win play anything else other than them.
-
Billy is only better than Bubba on paper assuming you don't get an indoor map, you can curve and play flawlessy on top of the survivors not really being the best at playing against him. Billy also gets virtually no help from the add-ons because even the ones that enchance your power have to penalize you like the Engravings with higher charge time and faster overheat.
People keep insisting on saying that Billy is still A tier despite the fact that nobody plays him anymore, but the truth is if the conditions that i mentioned above are not met, he's just gonna be a discount Bubba.

Billy's animations have been bugged for quite a long time. This is an old video to show the difference. McLean recently said they will fix them but he didn't say WHEN.

Were just going to casually ignore ohtofu and the billy mains community at large are we? They have said the issue with billy is hes not fun. People can say oh overheat dosent affect billy for players that dont overuse the saw.
You mean his power the reason you play the killer. Did people forget that one of the most exciting and fun things to do as billy was saw across the map for prolong periods of time or are we just gonna pretend that never existed.
It makes no sense if billy was still a fun killer then people would be playing him. Saying there all just bad players is arrogant and really speaks about the kind of egos we got in this community. If you can still have fun with billy thats good for you but the community at large is having an abyssmal time playing him something needs to change.
There were people who swore by old freddy but in the end behavior changed him and now people actually like playing him you can argue hes to strong and yes you'd be right but now freddy actually sees play.
That arguably more important then whether or not you enjoy playing him. Its also nonsensical to have a cooldown meter on a power you want to learn. Stop and focus on this point stop being dismissive and actually explain why does overheat need to exist?
Do you want billy players to learn there powers limitations or just be harassed by the overheat mechanic. Im so sick of the overheat apologists who dont even try to explain why its needs to exist bar to punish payer who are learning the killer. You know the ones who are struggling. Its nonsensical and arrogant.
The overheat exists because BHVR wants to make the free killers less popular by making them more punishing to learn for new players and less fun overall for veteran players in order to push DLC sales. Huntress is probably gonna receive the same treatment.
They know stuff like the overheat and blink recharge on Nurse are stupid mechanics that people hate; the reason why these killers didn't originally have these mechanics is simply because whoever made them wasn't dumb and didn't think they were needed.

Isn't that why people literally play any character? Trapper is possibly one of the hardest killers in the game to learn despite being D tier but people play him because trapping people is fun. If the only reason you play a killer is because he's strong you might as well never leave Spirit or Freddy.
Billy's still is strong AF. He has the 2nd best mobility in the game and a strong chase mechanic. The difference is that the old charge addons made him both boosted and easy to play.
One of the reasons you barely see Billy anymore is due to his weird animations and that stupid roar. It's actually the reason I don't play him anymore.
It takes no mechanical skill to use Trapper's power though; you just have to hold M2 to place traps, and going around M1ing people is not a skill set that's specific to a killer in particular. It's a different tipe of difficulty in a more strategic way, which makes him much easier to pick up.
I do agree that if at least his animations would be fixed and the stupid roar would be removed or at least only make it play during a succesful chainsaw hit, he would be much more fun to play, but Billy needs to go back to his old state minus insta saw and Tuning Guide (which is all they needed to nerf) for the average killer player to consider playing him again.

People who think Hillbilly is weak now are those bad Billies that relied on instasaw addons to do well. He's still one of the strongest killers in the game.
People don't think he's weak, they think he's simply not strong enough anymore to justify how hard he is to play against survivors who don't just run like they're waiting to get downed.
If he's still one of the strongest why he's completely extinct since the nerf?
Nurse is hard, but once you learn her you're using the best killer in the game. What do you get from learning Billy in return? A killer that might be better than Bubba assuming you're playing flawlessly.
The only to reason to still play Billy is because you really like the character, he has no niche in the game anymore.

Despite all the people claiming that Billy is still A tier, he's like a unicorn now. You hear about people playing him, but you never get matched against one.
This is because of people who have no idea what they're talking about and maybe play Billy once in a while for a daily, win against trash survivors and then say he's still A tier.
People don't understand that it doesn't really matter that you can move quickly around the map (assuming you don't get an indoor map) if you can't down people fast enough; that's why he's an extinct killer.
Billy has WAY less lethality without good charge time add-ons (and not that joke of Mother's Helpers) other than being much less fun and clunky to play, and the Engravings not only double penalize you (longer charge time and more overheat), but the stupid roar also makes easier for survivors to juke him during a curve.
-
I don't really blame people for playing these killers but at the same time it's a bad argument to say they're fine because "SWF OP" and other stuff. They're all unhealthy things that need to be addressed.
There is a fundamental issue with the balance of killers in this game where some of the easiest ones are also the best.
Spirit, Pyramid and Freddy should not get rewarded as much if not more than killers that are way harder to play like Billy, Oni, Blight; there is no reason to play these killers in terms of efficiency and consistency which is just terrible design.

You're making it sound like our complaints about the animations aren't valid simply because it doesn't affect how good he is which is stupid. It's the main reason me and a lot of other people rarely play him anymore, not because he's worse but because he literally feels like complete garbage to play now. And getting a headache from his pushed in camera, jank animations, roar and how loud his music is doesn't sound like a fun experience to me. I don't care how unchanged he is in terms of strength, I never used charge and cooldown add-ons, he now feels like crap to play as.
Thankfully some of these are getting fixed in the near future and I'll probably go back to playing him more often.
I feel like they don't even have to remove the stupid roar entirely if they really don't want to "because they've worked hard on it".
They could simply make it play only after a successful chainsaw hit kinda like how Demogorgon screams after he hits with M1. It would still sound the same if the survivor gets hit in front of you but it would be much less annoying instead of having to ear it constantly.
Give BHVR at least another five years to figure it out.
McLean said Billy's animations will get fixed but i wouldn't count on it that it will happen soon. He always dodges these types of questions on his stream.

Prepare for her arm to get tired
-
BHVR will probably never do that since they seem to be very stubborn on the subject, meanwhile using Discord gives survivors insane advantages and all the info perks for free but that seems to be fine for them.
Not to mention that there are a lot of cosmetics in the shop that make you much easier to spot, so the argument that giving killers higher FOV would be game breaking makes even less sense.
The default killer FOV is awful and having to use a perk just to not have nausea is straight up bad game design.

For any good billy player, yes. You can still curve, and the overheat never happens unless you are literally trying to have it happen, even without addons. For a bad billy, sure hes been nerfed. But anyone who was good with billy before does absolutely fine with him now
You mean bad players like OhTofu who quit playing him? I couldn't care less if you play at rank 1 or not, it means nothing and doesn't reinforce your argument.
Also, Billy's animations have been bugged for quite a long time and the devs still haven't fixed them, so that adds up to him being much less fun to play.

What exactly took away the fun? Not having instasaws? Cuz thats really all that happened.. unless you had fun face camping with a revved chainsaw, which is really the only thing thats changed. I dont understand.
So the only thing that changed is no more insta saw? Lmao ok

Not even? Lol I still main billy consistently doing just fine at r1. You dont have OP as ######### instasaws but thats really not an issue for anyone whos halfway decent with him. You can still curve, the speed addons are less useful for it but its still very doable. And the overheat is absolutely negligible for again, anyone whos even halfway decent with billy.
You play at rank 1 so what? Billy's fun factor is almost completely gone at least for me and a lot of other people, it has little to do with him still being good or not.
If you still main him that's great, but from my experience in red ranks, i must have seen him like five times since the nerf, so i don't know where all these alive Billy players are.
-
Too bad they essentially removed Billy from the game. BHVR doesn't really like fun things
-
People should stop considering all sorts of advantages as "cheating", but at the same time it's funny the hypocrisy of the community where if you do something such as using a third party program to put a crosshair on Huntress, it's considered cheating and unfair, but using Discord is totally acceptable because "it's just playing with friends bruh nobody is good at the game stop complaining"
-
Map offerings should be removed, they can make the game much more frustrating since both sides abuse them to get an advantage.
They don't directly alter the course of a game, but it's just unfair and annoying that you get to choose which map you like to play in that benefits you the most. For example stealth killers and impossible skill check Doctor using indoor map offerings
-
Billy has no niche anymore. He does many things but he excels in nothing, so he just gets outclassed by other killers. The overheat and roar are both dumb but his biggest hit was his add-ons being reworked into complete garbage and now he has the worst in the entire roster. Add-ons are what made Billy much better and more fun, but all you have now is rank 20 useless meme #########, and the ones that actually help you either have to come with a penality like the Engravings or some ridiculous activation condition like Mother's Helpers.
The devs must be happy with him being an extinct killer though, it pushes DLC sales ;)
-
They nerfed Billy much more than necessary because these amazing devs don't want you to play him anymore; they want people to drop Billy and go buy some DLCs.
It's no wonder no one wants to play a high skill killer with janky animations, the shittiest add-ons in the game, an intrusive cooldown mechanic and an annoying roar designed for rank 20 survivors.
Prepare for Huntress to get massive nerfs to the add-ons and probably some kind of cooldown to her base kit.

The fact that BHVR and some people on the forum think an extra 15 degrees of FOV deserves to be 25% of your perk loadout and would be too strong otherwise...
You have SWF in the game giving survivors almighty advantages and a lot of perks for free, but my god giving a FOV slider to killers so some people don't suffer from nausea, would be game breaking!!!
How will survivors manage to hide with their shiny overpriced cosmetics!?!?!?

Different people are lead designers on each killer. McLean was in charge of Blight, I think. Pretty sure he did Demo as well. His killers are usually fun for both sides. So the person who did Blight didn't have a whole lot to do with Twins.
Really? I thought he's only a programmer and not a killer designer. If so, i have more respect for the guy. Blight is the best designed killer since Oni and Billy; Demo is cool too.
-
The fact that they made a cool killer like Blight and after that a ######### brain dead one like Twins shows that these devs don't really think deeply about a killer power when they make it.
