I get wanting to get players to use different perks, but utterly neutering Hex Ruin wasn't the way to do so, like... seriously, making the regression the base regression at maximum was one thing, but making it snuff out after one survivor dies, like, are you kidding me?
Please revert this idiotic Nerf for the ptb and mid chapter please
but if you want to tame Ruin down a bit, I get that, so here is my suggested change
Forget the whole "After a Survivor is killed, Hex: Ruin will automatically deactivate." nonsense entirely, and then just change the regression to be 100/125/150%, or maybe if thats not a substantial enough change, maybe 100/110/120%
but the changes you are planning on making to this are perk are ridiculous
Oh no. You cant' rely on Ruin anymore for complete map pressure? Whatever will you do

Actually it's 4 times. It's 3 if the killer has Lethal Pursuer on and a charge is used at the start. However, after the next patch, you gain charges back indefinitely.
- Distortion: Gain one Distortion token for every 30 seconds spent within the Killer’s Terror Radius.
And Shadowstep can keep being put up. Which blocks not only scratches but also auras.
Also Gens block auras too when you are out of charges.

You sound really upset to me, the way you react to people that are just giving their opinion is also very aggressive imo. You really sound like you play killer just for daily challenges or the rift. I could be wrong but you sound like you have no idea what it's like to play killer against good survivors. That's why this is my last message here btw. Camping and tunneling are legit strategies which you can like or not. Survivors don't have to make the game fun for the killer and the killer doesn't have to make the game fun for the survivors, remember that!
Reached rank 1 years ago within a month with dog water perks using multiple killers. Back when rank actually matched you with people that should be in those levels. To which i'd give you my profile to check out, but i'm not about to flag my profile for trolls to go post on.

And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with gen rushing. I just think complaining about camping and tunneling doesn't make any sense.
Having Tier 3 BBQ out of all perks requires you to not only have the DLC for said perk, but to go out of your way at this point to level up to that and then get it on the killer you're wanting it on, either avoiding all other perks that are useful or looking over everything else because you want said free information. If you fail to see this, it might be for the reason you told me. Which seems to be that way. But lets not pretend that anything that was said about said situation that you proposed was wrong. You not only put yourself into said gen situation at that point. But you clearly know the gen you're by isn't being worked on. So clearly the other 2, one of them, is. Which would take you running halfway there to hear progression and pressure. But at which point you aren't. Then are complaining that you got rushed or that they were a toxic swf. W/e insert excuse here is because you couldn't be bothered at the end of the day.
HOWEVER besides the point. Lets also ignore the fact that we aren't talking about a 3 gen situation. This is happening at 4-5 gens remaining. Consistently. ANd is being brought up and talked about on this forum, reddit, and on Steam discussions. So it's not isolated incidents.

And killers only objective is to kill survivors and guess what tunneling and camping accomplish.
Yet they complain about "Gen Rushing" when they are getting slammed on Gens because they don't spread the pressure equally. Imagine.

Perk shaming because I made the best choice at the time with my given resources?
Weak. Tunneling and camping exists all the way up to comp. It's existence precedes you, and it appears that it will proceed you as well.
"Best choices at the time"
Lets stop pretending you don't have anything better than BBQ. You rely on that information. We can stop now

Killers can see you at the beginning of the match, when they hook someone, when you’re near a totem, when they open a closet, when you go out from a closet, when you are healing, when you’re the obsession, when a gent is finished, when they hit someone, when you are working in a gen,... and you want to play immersive?
Distortion (now buffed to recharge the spent charges) and Shadowstep are a thing. Which prevents literally everything you just said except for like 2.

That's your opinion. Camping and tunneling are legit strategies, like it or not. Killers don't have to play by the survivors rules. If survivors can gen rush, why can't killers secure their kills?
"Survivors can gen rush"
Why do all ######### killers use this miserable excuse. That's the ONLY objective the survivors have when spawning in. Period. You have 4 people to thwack around. But you choose one person and go full monkey brain chasing and when 3 gens pop because of it, all of a sudden you were "Gen Rushed".

It's not deflection, it's a reasonable assessment. I hook a survivor BBQ shows me 0 auras I have a 3 gen and the other gens are literally up to 20 seconds away.
I'm not giving up my pressure to chase shadows get out of here.
So you put yourself in a ######### situation to begin with by not flocking them into a 3 gen lock, using Thana, overall stopping and at said point you're going to camp because you more or less lost that for yourself? Got it. THAT is a reasonable assessment
See. You don't learn to play better. You fall back on camping because you failed to pressure overall, didn't peel when you should have, etc. I guarantee you you get blood raged and tunnel that one dude who's been juicing you instead of going to stop the others from doing things. Also, lookie here. You just said you fall back and rely on BBQ. Imagine. Stop relying on such a ######### perk. Use ######### like Dead Mans and Scourge Hooks to knock them off and show you where is being worked on what.
You're falling back on relying on perk information instead of actively gaining information yourself or knowing hey, they aren't working on this gen close to me. They are over on those other two. But they are "20 seconds" away and isntead of pressuring those i'll just sit here and not let this person play the game. Therefore allowing the others to escape in the process. THIS is why Killers complain about "Gen rushing" so much

I would if Behaviour wasn’t so dead set on removing stealth play from the game.
The upcoming nerf to Spine Chill is like the final mail in the coffin (though I will try going back to premonition) for stealth. The abundance of aura reading perks doesn’t help the situation either.
Im patient enough to wait and see how things play out after the next patches release. But with how things are going, I’ll probably take a vacation from gaming in general and go back to learning how to digitally paint instead.
Distortion bud. And new Distortion recharges. Plus Shadowstep. kek

The issue is not incentives to not camp or punishments for camping.
The issue is that there isn't a way to do it that doesn't punish normal players. Sometimes, you gotta camp and that's just how it is.
Do we punish the guy who camps a Survivor to death in the middle of a close three gen because Bubba can't find his way out of the basement at 5 gens?
We do not. Not yet, at least. The best thing you can do is make more perks like BBQ and less like PR. Info is great because it gives you the ability to know where people are but it makes you leave in order to actually do anything productive. PR, on the other hand, regresses gens by a significant amount and gives you info, occasionally.
More perks like BBQ? How many information perks do you want made in the game lol You have more than enough. Saying this only reinforces that it's just a behavior the community doesn't want changed (At least the killers). I myself don't have to resort to camping or tunneling. And yes, there are times i've seen it's needed. But it's most definitely not near the beginning. ANd it's most certainly not fun for the person not getting ot actually play the game.
In fact, all this does is make bad players stay playing poorly. It doesn't incentivize them going out and actually learning to play better. ie looking for scratch marks, listening to faint gen work without getting too close, looking for blood pools of injured survivors. Etc.

Pop is still as effective as before on near-completed gens, and all gen-kicking perks have been indirectly buffed thanks to the basekit 2.5% regression and the faster kicking speed.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3060526#Comment_3060526
Other than the fact that you're pressuring survivors off gens and potentially scoring another hook.
But if you're happy with your 2k carry on.
It's already been proven in many vdeos from PTB that you can camp 2 hooks before 3 gens go off in most cases. The ######### are 2 people gonna do with 2 to 3 gens left at that point.
Let's also factor in that playing solo, you'll have one person being chased and hooked, look around and see 1 person on a gen and 2 people circle jerking in a corner for no apparent reason.

A tier 3 perk counts for 3 perk tiers.
A page of perks included 15 perks, and if they're all purple/tier 3 that's 45 perk tiers. So 2 pages = +1 prestige level, 3 pages = +2 and 4 pages of purple = +3 prestige levels.
ALL perks on a survivor at tier 3 = 321 perk tiers, so +6 levels.
Holy ######### thank you so much

I think that you're spot on that the introduction of the MMR system (and then fine tuning it to perform better) brought to the surface some new issues with the average efficacy of meta perk builds - essentially, as the devs noted themselves, MMR started making players encounter more consistent opponents and that consistency made what was previously the occasional run-in with some power perks intermixed with all kinds of confused builds into a nearly match-to-match certainty of seeing only the same builds every match. The devs are cognizant of this and it's also why they specifically went after perks based on pickrates rather than other metrics - they wanted to introduce some variety back into the matches after adding a system that made the game more consistent. This is an overall healthy change and, I think, a healthy design mentality.
I think your perception of MMR as a currency that is something to be accrued is off-base. MMR's job is to provide you with fair, quality matches that are neither too frustrating or too boring. That's it. It's definitely not a thing you're supposed to accumulate indefinitely, or even a thing you're entirely meant to gain over time like you do pips for grades. The devs have specifically stated that they have had to design the game's MMR model in a way that avoids causing MMR inflation by introducing scenarios where the killer and survivors can both be considered "winners" simultaneously. It's also not flawless - MMR is designed to produce the best pairings out of who is currently available - if there just aren't people actively in queue who are right around your skill level at the same time as you, it's going to produce variance in order to minimize wait times. This is the thing the devs experimented on primarily throughout the MMR tests.
All is to say - while MMR is definitely playing a role in introducing the need for this patch, casting it as "at fault" for doing so I think misunderstands the purpose of MMR and its ability to contribute positively to the game while also introducing consequences that themselves merit further changes to the game.
No. Sorry. If i'm actively doing everything I can in a match, and on hook I see people hiding behind rocks, walking the edges of the map, or running around for no reason 700 miles from me and not towards me. Something is wrong. It's not matching me with anybody within my skill range. And only proves that there is a flaw in the system. At lesat with the old system you had people actively trying to do the things they needed to do within their respected ranks to either keep their ranks or move up in rank. All this has done is make it an every man for themselves type of thing, unless those same people are in SWF and are looking out for them and them alone.

@jesterkind said:
One match doesn't affect your MMR all that much, it's based on your overall performance.
There's some issues with the matching portion of the system, not the calculation portion, but in my opinion it's a mistake to say that's "more" of a problem than the actual meta of the game. People complain all the time about [x] perk, but the crucial thing is that sometimes they're right and sometimes it really is something that needs addressing. Based on what BHVR have been tackling in these latest few updates, it seems like they've got a decent understanding of when that is, it's not based on random people complaining.
In fact, I'm not sure how your posts really relates to BHVR's decisions? Sure, sometimes people complain about things just because they don't know how to handle it, but those things... aren't the ones being changed? Heck, complaints about strength aren't even the point of this latest update at all, let alone misjudged complaints about strength.
(Also, you want camping killers to go up in MMR, so they won't keep stomping on newer/less skilled players.)
It does not base off of overall performance and has been proven so by content creators who have witnessed others using programs that show the MMR determining factors

Don't know how it looks on other platforms but i guess it isn't that different and thanks to the announcements of meta shut down i guess maybe the distribution between solo, killer and swf might also have shifted coupled with the unknown distribution of the leaving people in terms of their MMR.
This is only going to make it go down too. A lot of Solo players aren't going to want to put up with Timmy No Thumbs trying to do what his favorite tuber saw and try to get 6 hits in a game while no gens are being done. lmfao
I agree with an above post. They need to have everything a surv does count towards MMR. It's different for Killer, but for solo survivor everything you do in a match should count.
-
@Zachcjjj said:
what you do in the match doesnt matter its only if you escape/ get kills (which is sad) but hats how it is
So we're just back to actively advocating for camping and tunneling while survivors just get thrown into the cess pools if you play solo. Yay.
Information I genuinely didn't know. Leave it to BHVR to release a new and "better" system that has no bearings on what you actually did in the match, just whether you straight up get kills or escape.

Again, bad matches will happen. If you're going to die early, then just do it. There's no benefit to DCing compared to dying early.
This entire thread exists solely to yell out "I'm angry and petty and want no consequences for it"
The game itself disconnected me along with others I know, also people who complained on reddit, countless times during the event. If the game is going to say that an error occurred, not having to do with me physically going in to the menus to DC, then there should be no penalty when I load the game back up. Numerous times I was sat waiting on a penalty timer that I didn't deserve from this with the game telling me that it couldn't initialize something or other. It shouldn't be taken out. But it definitely needs more parameters added to it

You are being a sore loser. Accept your death and won't have a penalty.
I load the game up with the intent of actually wanting and being able to play the game. If the game spawns me holding hands with the killer, and that killer proceeds to chase and down me then proxy and tunnel me out of the game. That's not me being a sore loser. That's me wanting to get out of a ######### experience.
Also for the people who actually DO DC. Why is the Killer the ONLY one rewarded with points. The remaining survivors who put up with bullshit after the DC should also get points as well. They didn't ask for the DC or the extra weight that gets put on them at 4-5 gens remaining.
-
It's almost a DC. I have to stop and walk around after because my eyes hurt so much from Nightfall. It's ridiculous. I'm supposed to be having fun, not physically hurt after a game
