I agree the SWF group(s) should be shown to the killer in the lobby.
I know where this idea comes from but don't you think the killer would just doge the swf group? Because some people don't want more difficult /toxic games.

Ninja Bing Bong:
Perks: Nurse's, Discordance/Surveillance, BBQ, your choice
Add-ons: The Ghost (brown), Coxcombed Clapper (pink)
Strategy: Just find them and catch them unprepared. Grab them from gens and totems. Best on Maps with LOS breakers near gens.
-
I was trying Adept Freddy and my Obsession let himself die on 1st hook. I got DS'd later on and could get the last 4 tokens (this was before 2.7.0). The last 2 got caught with Remember Me and Blood Warden. Without the DS I would have had to try 10 times again.

OoO seems solid as a perk if your an amazing looper. Otherwise the perk is very tricky to use and learn how to use.
It also tends to open the door to being hard tunneled if the killer suspects your in an swf. Taking the uav survivour offline is paramount if your a stealth killer.
Personally i believe this perk should be disabled if players want to swf as having a survivour hang by a powerfil loop feeding info on your position via comms is a step way to far.
Then there shouldn't be a 4 man swf at all because you get the info anyway. No need for OoO. But this athother thing.
But you are right that OoO is difficult to use when not a good looper (as myself). But I think sometimes it's better to learn the hard way (I do not have Windows Of Opportunity yet) where the good and bad loops are.
Oddly I have problems with OoO at lower ranks but not at mid ranks. Maybe because I mostly do gens and the other players are not so experienced but very stealthy so I become the target. Whereas in mid ranks others can take away the aggro.
Or what do you think about this?

In theory that sounds good, in reality though the OoO still wins whether you chase him forever or ignore him. Ignoring is pretty dangerous when he can watch you back.
It worked well for me so far.
These attention seekers are best at looping and therefore buying time, so I deny them this by ignoring them until they make a mistake. Most times I find them in a locker or when they mess up with their precious purple flashlight. Or I chase them at the end till all pallets are gone and they have nowhere to go and their DS (or MoM now), DH and adrenaline are gone. If they are the last I have all time in the world whereas midgame I have not.
For a toxic OoO I look at them for a few seconds and then just go the opposite direction. I notice where they are but showing no interest in them until they feel safe and I can ambush them.
Best was, when I was chasing someone as Myers near the guy with OoO I suddenly abandon the chase and got my obsession.
This works almost every time, because these people tend to get overconfident.

I have never in my 25+ years of playing games come across such an angry/childish user base as I have with survivors in this game.
in my ~100hrs playing (not much I know)
I have had maybe 20 games that end with a simple gg or no talk, the rest is bitching about.
-Camping (sometimes camping all 4) apparently running around a hooked character when the other 3 are right there trying to unhook after body blocking is camping.... im supposed to run away and let them off hook endgame i guess.
-Tunneling (sometimes all 4)
-noskill by using noed every time
-noskill by using ______ character
-noskill by using ______ addons
-called an incel for playing Dr.
-called every name in the book for playing freddy even with a nohook game
then the usual EZ / Teabagging by SWF groups.
at this point i just try and spam the leave button after the game ends, kind of wish i could just disable chat.
oh and survivors with twitch username seem to be the worst of them all.
Best is to laugh it away.
And I think you can hide the chat when clicking on the >> symbol next to the text field. At least you can do this as survivor in the lobby.
-
I recently demolished a group with Freddy.
In the chat they said they would report me for "cheating microlags".
I love it when they can't lose

@LapisInfernalis If you have a med kit, what perk do you use in place of self care? @CubeyBlueDice I mistakenly asked you.
I rarely do this, but I used Spine Chill then. That's good for killers with small TR because you know they have seen you before you hear the heartbeat, which is my notmal indicator to be careful. Nice to have when you are looking away from the killer for not giving away your position.
Else: I would try Urban Evasion, Unbreakable, Iron Will instead of SC but I did not test it yet. (rank reset is perfect for this)
-
Sadly there are some people who still don't know there are things like BBQ, lithe, BL, Mirror Myers or Nurse's and call them hacker even on higher ranks. The real sad thing is that these people refuse to read or aren't able to at all.
-
@CubeyBlueDice said:
If you think you can make it work, then use it. I tend to use perks that nobody uses like small game and tenacity and I do just fine.
My normal build is way different too: Spine Chill, Distortion, Stake Out and Self Care. But sometimes I want to play different.
@Aven_Fallen said:
I mean, sure, Object of Obsession can help a lot to avoid the Killer. I only ran it when doing Random Perks or when doing the Adept Laurie-Achievement, but it helped a lot with that.
But, and that is the big point, it is often abused by people to get the Killers attention to bully them. Or, when they are in a SWF-group (especially 4), to get information where the Killer is at any point.
And therefore it is understandable that Killers dont like this Perk. When I have an OoO in my game, I will tunnel this person to get him/her removed form the game ASAP. It is not nice, but those people also dont want to play nice, and well... It is strategically the best way tbh.
I tend to ignore people who want my attention. Especially those who use OoO or are flashlight clicking. I rather chase and kill the (often much weaker) rest first and go after the other at last when the hatch is closed and there is nowhere for him to go.
-
Bubba. Without windows in range he has a free insta down (you can avoid a Billy though), and his noises make me aggro every time. Especially when he mori's someone. EW EW EW.
Billy/(good) Nurse. Because I've seen them too much at high ranks.
Huntress. I do not manage to doge her axes at pallets or windows. A real pain.
Hag. Because every time I have no Urban Evasion I go against Hag.
-
I often play solo. It can be very frustrating when you have a (toxic) P3 player who dc's after being found in the 1st minute every 2nd game. Because killers tend not to have mercy (which I do not want either). Or you have potatoes as mates especially when ruin is active at lower ranks. (A real pain after rank reset).
The mori doesn't bother me anymore. I try to play stealthy, get as many points as I can and add the mori to my collection of mori videos :)
Sometimes you have te urge to destroy the Survivors as killer, because being killer can be very frustrating too when playing against swf and toxic players. So you use a Mori (or for Mors Ambitio).
But nonetheless I like to play solo as I like to play swf (duo mostly). I only have to adjust my perks for it. And if you do that, it gets better.
-
I use it when I want a break from being the gen jockey. With this I want to learn how to loop better.
I'm experimenting with different OoO builds. DS is always a part of it. I like to use Distortion with it, so the killer does not see me in the 360 at the beginning of the match so I can run away and position well/snipe an important gen.
Alternatively I use DH/BL but not MoM (too toxic).
I like OoO because u can plan ahead, distract and confuse the killer like you mentioned.
The best experience was on The Pale Rose where 2 and I sat on a gen in the middle, when the crows flew away. OoO didn't show so I knew it was Myers stalking from the boat. I crouched away to safety (the 3rd person came to the gen and pointed on me for "being stupid"). I watched from the distance while breaking a totem how they got stalked to hell and EWIII'ed within half a minute. That was kinda satisfying.

No, because it's the nature of an asymmetrical game that a 1v1 should be advantageous for the power role.
You had plenty of chances. You could've equipped a build that doesn't rely on your teammates if you're worried about potato teammates. You could've located the hatch when you noticed they're all potatoes. You could've done plenty of things before you ended up in a 1v1 with the timer going.
Exactly what I'm thinking.
-
It is possible to get out when the killer closes the hatch (I did it multiple times myself against different killers, even Billy/Nurse). It is difficult, yes, but when there are nearly no gens done the killer has basically won, I think that starting the EGC is OK. But maybe make the time for the exit gates in this case only (!) 15s (instead of 20) and let the gates sporn across the map.
Or (more complicated) :
When the hatch closes, don't block the gens, make EGC timer 4min, (so the last survivor has to do something but has enough time for it). Every completed Gen removes 10s from the gate timer which is 30s. This would make Left Behind more valuable, because now it is completely useless for EGC
-
The real problem with MoM is not the perk itself but the combination of perks with it.
If you only run MoM with utility perks like Stake out, We'll make it etc it's not a big problem, because it's like DH with the sprint burst but single use only and the problem of being seen after fully healed.
But if you use other 2nd chance or chasing perks it gets ugly. Combine it with DH/Balanced/Lithe, DS, insta heal, Adrenaline with decent skill at chasing you can destroy half the killers.
Trapper, Wraith, Clown, Doc, Legion, Freddy have no chance at all except tunneling and you'll never now if somebody else has MoM...
Pig, Leatherface, Myers, Billy, Huntress, Plague, Clown (with Pinky Finger) have a chance because of their insta down or because their ability attack does not count for MoM. (Not sure about Spirit and Hag) Nurse being Nurse has not a problem anyway.
This is not what perks should be....

Just apply hard derank for DC - no matter was it intentional or not during match. YEs, some ppl will be deranked cause of connection issues, but 95% of ppl are DCing at purpose, either by leaving match or by game force shutdown to avoid losing pips.
Just change it from -2 pips for leaving/no derank for shutting down - to -4 pips for leaving/-2 ranks for shutting down.
Harsh? Yes. But, all DCers will end in rank 20 and number of leaving on purpose will drastically drop.
I think not. Most of these people want to derank to get easier games. By doing your idea you send all the toxics to the new players who'll get frustrated.
Better auto ban them if they do it too much. Harder penalty for doing it on purpose ("leave game" or AltF4).

Hint:
Killer abilities, addons and other perks can affect this perk.
Example:
Doctor ability(Madness)
Should I add more examples?
I haven't really tried it with Perks like M&A, Agitation etc. yet because it's difficult to test.
What I really mean is that a killer with a standard TR of 24m should transfer a 24m TR (and of cause all effects of Perks/Add-Ons/Ability) to the obsession, not the classic 32m.
The most important thing is that it should transfer the lullaby too, because this is not the case and makes this Perk useless for Huntress and Freddy.
Sorry if this wasn't clear. English is not my native language.

I feel like that isn't good either.
Plus, I feel like the killer could find out they have NM very fast. They recovered from the dying state, and no one is healing him. Plus, if we want to keep NM as close to how it was before, then he also doesn't leave any blood trails. If we keep this intact, and the killer sees no blood coming out the survivor... No way are they not going to find out they have NM. If you have blood trails with NM now, then the blood trails will make playing the survivor WAY harder.
If we go your way, it'll really only be bad. Survivor leaves blood the entire game and can't rid of it, while the killer finds out you have NM anyway, or it wouldn't matter, and you still die.
And if the survivor doesn't leave blood trails like the earlier version, only an idiot killer would know not to slug you.
The way I did it was only add one, good change, and left everything fine. In my opinion, you way made it worse, just because in removeable blood trails.
Again, just my opinion.
I just noticed that I forgot the blood thing. Of cause it would be there.
-
One match someone said '#########' in chat, because my Insidious-Basement-Trapper worked and they were dumb enough to fall for it again and again.
-
I think this wouldn't fit the perk, it's too different to the original.
I have another idea:
You start the Trial healthy. When hit by the Killer, you gain the Broken Status Effect which is not shown to the Killer but to other Survivors.
Your grunts of pain are reduced - /25/50% and you can completely recover from the Dying State.
This would keep the intention of the perk but doesn't make it obvious to the killer a guy is running NM.
-
Before the patch I was at red ranks, now I am around rank 9/8 because I get tunneled, camped or have bad luck more times than I have good rounds where I meet the requirements to pip.
This can't be the intention.

In a normal situation, yes. But if they are toxic, this is no longer normal. Lately, of all the people i have met with MOM, most were toxic. So this perk, like DS earlier, allows me to assume that the situation is already not normal.
>I want to be a good example that you can be good without this.
In some situations, this is your only chance not to lose, strong SWF in high ranks, otherwise will not give you any chance.
I said that. Maybe I failed to make myself clear, because English is not my native language. I do not care if they tbag but the perk and the results of it frustrate me. Because it causes situations you are clearly the winner but MoM takes it from you.

MoM is not worse than Ds
ds was strong because it killed your pressure early on in the game and prevented you from gaining momentum. If you are a ds later on in the game it didn’t hit as bad as if the obsession was the first person you found.
DS was skill-based. It wasn't as painful with not so skilled survivors but if you had one of these loop gods + toxic in your match it destroyed you regardless if they used it early or late. And these were the only ones who used it mostly.
And now these people have MoM, which is not skill-based, to bully you again.
Thanks Devs.

This is a good idea.

I too. Yet.
>And I do not camp or tunnel because I hate it if it happens to me.
I was like that too before meet into toxic survs. Do you more like be tbagged at the gate? The choice is yours.
>The only option I have is Myers and/or STBFL so I can instadown or ignore my obsession.
Soon you will come across survs, each of which will have this perk, not only obsession.
I have met the toxics. Many of them. And when I get them they often DC or I face camp them, when I don't, I ignore them. Simple. But I won't camp or tunnel in normal situations. I want to be a good example that you can be good without this.
If I see them tbagging at the exit, I just watch them for a few seconds and then leave to do something else. They usually go after a while. Sometimes I am lucky and they follow me and I get 1 - 2 kills off of that. If that happens they don't say a thing in chat.
About STBFL: Yes, especially a swf could all run MoM but STBFL would still be useful because you get more tokens and have the reduction. Therefore you can continue the case faster and catch them earlier. Maybe combine this with other anti loop/chasing perks.
-
@Chi said:
People also forget that killer powers completely counter it. Huntress hatchets, Nurse's blink, Pig's dash etc etc.
It is strong, but we haven't really had a strong survivor perk since... D-strike?
What about Freddy, Trapper, Clown and Doc then? They can't prevent MoM with their power (Trapper is too RNG based).
And.... There is a reason why DS was nerfed. It got abused. And MoM is even worse now. At least you had kind a counter to DS which every killer could do. MoM does not.
-
I would increase the duration to 30s and let it mirror the killers terror radius and it's effects (f.e. a Doc with Distressing in treatment mode would result in a terror radius of 40m and madness if the Obsession is near others) This should also affect Huntress' and Freddy's lullaby too and could give them new opportunities.
-
Good idea :)
-
Another idea to balance MoM:
After the perk is used, you get 5% Hindred status effect until you are downed the next time.
This would make it easier for all killers to catch up again, because it limits the loop potential of the survivor, which lessens the pain this perk is now. But I have no idea how to change the "free hit" part of it.

You can. Nurse/Billy and hard camp/tunnel for other killers. After the release of this perk, i began to do it more often. And then see a lot of insults and crying in the chat or disconnect.
I'm bad with Nurse and haven't played Billy much yet, so this is no option for me.
And I do not camp or tunnel because I hate it if it happens to me.
The only option I have is Myers and/or STBFL so I can instadown or ignore my obsession.
The only perk that gains profit from MoM is Remember Me, but I don't have it.
-
That's another story. Maybe the Devs thought the obsession would be generally focused by the killer, but this is not the case anymore. At least that's what I have seen so far, if the killer does not run an obsession perk.
So there is no real danger to use MoM because of the new mechanics.
-
OK. That's true but to do so makes the chase longer if you don't have any add-ons for the effectiveness of Vile Purge.
I do not know if it effects Corrupt Purge. I haven't tested yet.
-
@wisdom said:
Hopefully it is intended for these surprise attacks to not stack tokens and people are just talking out of their bums.
the perk isn’t game breaking if it is intended to have every killer be able to play around it by simply using their power
Try this with Clown, Trapper (you have no guarantee they'll walk in a trap), Freddy and Plague. They can't get around MoM with their power.
-

I think the best thing would be remove the healing aura, and make it tied to exaustion. It would mean you cant stack MoM and Dead hard. (which is ridiculous in itself) And at least would mean you are giving up another "chase" perk for it. I don't think its insanley OP as some people are claiming, but it does need some counter or a heavier drawback.
The toxic Survivors who run DH, DS, Adrenaline and Self Care before and now use MoM would bully the killer nonetheless.

whats the most logical response to this?
ppl will play Billy more often.

Yep. And more Leatherface and Myers because of their insta down.
Maybe I will ignore my obsession after 3 hits unless I have a Perk for it. So it's time for Save The Best For Last again :)
-
Good idea. And it gives a chance against basement builds.

@NuclearBurrito said:
Worst part about this.
MoM is the only perk right now that actively rewards failure. Not even in the sense that DS or NOED somewhat negate failure, but rather getting hit while using MoM is an outright good thing as having 2 hits and being healthy is better than having never been hit in the first place.
Compare that to DS where even when used it just puts you right back where you started. Or with adrenaline which is rewarding you for success instead of failure, or exhaustion perks which require some skill to use properly. Or even instaheals which cause you to lose ground, remove an item and are once per trial.
Even if the effect was worse than these (it's slightly better than an instaheal) it's still less healthy for the game than them.
That's true.
Another scenario I had today:
A guy is hooked, I see a hurt one going for the save (too late to grab him), I ignore the unhooked guy since there was an obsession and I don't like to tunnel, and go for the unhooker. Oh wonder, he had MoM..... (he was not the obsession)
You can bully the killer so hard with that. I think it's time to play Billy, Leatherface or Myers. MoM will never work then if you only instadown them.
-
@Bongbingbing said:
It's her blink hits that are bugged, supposedly they are meant to give a token even though they aren't basic attacks but I guess their idea of basic attack is any M1.
Which by logic means that any attack out of a power will give a token like Spirit's Grudge or wraith's surprise attack. That makes it so that only killers with an M2 attack have a way around the perk, which is completely busted.
Seriously, What went trough their heads when they thought up a perk like this.....
So Pig's dash attack for example? Because I did not gain a token from it.
-
Add the condition that if you want a token through unhooking, you have to do a safe unhook. That prevents farming.
And with the idea that you can get tokens from healing and have a 4s aura reading after unhooking, this would be nice I think.
-
I have already seen people who don't heal after MoM so the killer doesn't see their aura. They just wait with Iron Will for the last gen to be finished and have Adrenalin to get healed. And then they tbag at the exit.....
This Perk frustrated me so much as killer because you can't do anything against it.

Increasing the time the gens need to be repaired and make the gen regression will make a 3 gens strategy impossible for survs to beat
This would give the perk Deja Vu a purpose again. And if you play at high ranks you should have decent map awareness, so a 3 gen strategy is no problem.
-
I know that. Without any proper reward you can't hinder them to do so anyway.
But how do you want to do it then? Because if you change the repair time for all ranks, it might be too hard for new players and too easy for the good ones.
-
I like the idea of choosing my totem spots. Because I am tired of getting the bad spots on every map every time.
For this the dull totems should be highlighted white so you can find them easier.
-
A Perk (Ruin) shouldn't be needed to compensate a problem with the game anyway...
My Idea:
Increase the time the gens need to be repaired the higher your rank is.
White and Yellow: 80s
Green: 100s
Purple: 110s
Red: 120s
An alternative o this would be to increase the number of gens the higher you get in rank, but this could be a problem with small maps.
White & Yellow: 5 gens
Green: 6 gens
Purple & Red: 7 gens
(and let the hatch only sporn if they did 2/3/4 gens)
And maybe make the gen regression a lot faster, because if you kick a gen and you don't find someone (after searching a bit of cause) they just continue repairing and the Gen has lost 1% by then.
-
I like the new system for killer. Double pipping was way too easy (Legion and Spirit gave me often double pips). The only thing I do not like is the new Devout Emblem. Because forcing you to get 4k to get gold is a bit too much i.m.o let alone iridescent Devout with 9 hook events (all those ######### Survivors who just kill themelves on the hook ruin it), but this may be due to the fact that you need to doublepip to get any Adept Killer now. This is the only thing that really bothers me on the killer side.
For Survivor the new system is too harsh. I can understand that you have to do more at higher ranks but Survivors have a limited source for the emblems. To pip in the old system you needed to do everything a bit or one thing perfectly. Now you have to do everything and be good at it. The problem is, that the time you can do these things is short and the source is limited. I can either fix 2 1/2 Gens on my own OR being chased by the Killer OR unhook and heal 2 people. We don't have Hermione's Time Turner.

When you hook your Obsession gain a Token up to 2 Tokens. For every Token all Survivors who are not the Obsession get 9/11/13% reduced speed for repair, sabotage and healing.
If you hook the Obsession 90/75/60 seconds after being unhooked, you can't get a Token.
With 2 Tokens you can kill the Obsession.
I just noticed something:
With the new Obsession mechanic and with the Mori at 2 Tokens...
You can mori everybody who uses DS :P
I have to admit I didn't thought of that. Maybe it's too much. But on the other hand: with Rancor you can mori everybody too. Theoretically.

I forgot to tell something.
I noticed that if you play solo and are DL it is very difficult for your mates to tell that you are DL and therefore should be protected. Whereas with SWF it's easier because you can communicate.
So my thought was that the perk becomes stronger through hooking the obsession so that the others get the debuff information in the UI and therefore could protect you better. The Obsession is literally their (last) hope.
The cool down timer between hooks is to prevent tunneling. I think it works well with DS so why not with DL. And one minute is still enough to get away and play stealthy.
The Mori with 2 Tokens is just for style :) and it would fit the what if scenario DL is based on.
